Biggest Loser Challenges - RED TEAM - Week 7 ChatView Full Version : RED TEAM - Week 7 Chat MonteCristo 10-26-2009, 09:07 AM Here is the new chat thread for week 7. shan84 10-26-2009, 09:20 AM Well I'm getting ready to call it a night here in SK. Hope you all have a great Monday and don't forget to get your weigh ins posted. Good luck to everyone who still has to weigh in for this past week. :) ArmyWife02 10-26-2009, 09:24 AM i unofficially got to post a 1.6 loss ;) so i'm hoping for another great week :) good luck to everyone on WI today :) tinabinab 10-26-2009, 11:11 AM Shannon - hope they can figure out whats going on with you and correct it. I'm thinking of you. ArmyWife - congrats on your loss! Shan84 - congrats on your big loss this week - that is awesome! Well, I was up a lb today - which wasn't entirely unexpected. I was technically POP, but spent most of the weekend at one party or another, so that is where the bulk of my weekly points were eaten. After a 4 lb loss last week, I was hoping for another loss, but this seems to be the pattern for me. Interesting. Lose a few, gain one, lose a few, gain one. The end result is still a loss, so it's all good. Sending 'loss' vibes to everyone this morning. ;) MonteCristo 10-26-2009, 11:53 AM Monday's Discussion Question Who is your greatest inspiration in your weight loss journey? Ms Perception 10-26-2009, 12:14 PM Gosh, that discussion question is a tough one for me in a way. There's not just ONE person who has inspired me. I think the 3FC family has probably made the most difference for me. I love having others who are going through what I'm going through and feel like people understand what I'm dealing with, not to mention those who have already succeeded and shred their stories. I've been doing challenge threads almost since I joined 3FC last November and it has REALLY kept me on track when I normally would have given up or gone off the deep end somehow. So, 3FC and a few good books have been my main inspiration. ArmyWife02 10-26-2009, 12:32 PM Monday's Discussion Question Who is your greatest inspiration in your weight loss journey? Well, shortly after I had our daughter in 2003 - I found the WATP system by Leslie Sansone - and I started using her DVDs and watching my calories and lost weight that way...till I got pregnant with our son ;) lol But I really didn't have anyone to look to for weight loss success...I have several in my family who are overweight but never workout (never have)...and growing up I was always active (never formerly working out though), so the concept of exercise was a foreign one to me (and my family). But when I had such success with the WATP last year, it spilled over into my family ;) I sent a DVD to my MIL and also sent a few to my mother this year. My mom had never formerly exercised - except to take walks around the neighborhood. But this year she is on track and doing wonderfully. She started the year at 215, then changed her eating habits, then slowly worked up to 4-5 miles of WATP per day and is on Nutrisystem - and is in the 170s now :) I'm so proud of her for getting healthy - she wants to have a long life to live and be around the grand-kids (my kids) :) So originally, I was inspired by Leslie on the WATP - and now I am inspired by my own mother in her successful journey to getting healthy and losing the weight that has troubled her since she first married my daddy (they've been divorced now for 20 yrs). Sorry, didn't mean to get so long winded ;) lol shea5 10-26-2009, 01:24 PM Monday's Discussion Question Who is your greatest inspiration in your weight loss journey? Wow, tough one...I don't really have any one person, I guess, who has inspired me. I think actually Tara from the last season of the Biggest loser seemed very inspiring to me, probably because we have a lot of similarities. I don't really know many people in real life that have lost a lot of weight without getting surgery. I know I want to be an inspiration to my children to keep an active lifestyle and stay fit and healthy, so I guess they count as my inspiration too, in some ways. Rainy weather here, but I'm feeling very positive this week. I didn't drop much more over the weekend, but every little bit helps, so I'll take it. I went swimming this morning, and am planning out the rest of my week to maximize my exercising and staying on plan with food. Go Red team!!! crcossel 10-26-2009, 01:36 PM Ok so I probably need to be posting considering how I'm doing... This has happened to me in the past where I stay really motivated for a couple of months.....then it slowly gets less and less. Right now I am REALLY struggling. For about a month I stopped even downloading the GWF. Now I am, but I am now and I am back up to 155 (I started at 158, lost 7 lbs and the plateaued) So now I am back up and the last 2 weeks have been almost identical. Wonderful Monday-Friday. I eat great, drink all my water and life is good. The The weekend. I am typically away from home (saturday working) its insane and stressful and I eat whatever. Then a social event and I start drinking....(this weekend included jello shots) and Sunday is not as bad but includes football usually at a bar because the dolphins aren't on tv locally so ..... And then monday is my fresh start. Honestly I don't know what to do. Alot of my friends think that because I'm 155 and I "carry it well" I should just not worry about and move on. But I really want to see the body I know I'm capable of. So yes, lets get this group going. I need support and accountability especially this time of year. There is no end to the excuses to be "bad" Just this week I have a women's group on tuesday, halloween party on saturday, football on sunday and monday. Then in 3 weeks is my 30th birthday, then 2 weeks after that is thanksgiving. Speaking of my 30th birthday....For the first time since I turned 21 we are trying to plan a party. But I don't know what to do. I'm more used to thinking about other people not what I want. AAAAHHHHHHH!!!!! I'm a bit stressed out :) jessicado22 10-26-2009, 02:23 PM I don't think I have anyone who inspired me to lose weight....I don't know anyone personally who has lost a bunch of weight. (Well, my MIL has just lost over 120 pounds, but she had surgery to do it and doesn't exercise at all, so no inspiration there). I get inspired by Biggest Loser though. Watching everyone lose weight there is inspiration for me. I downloaded all the seasons recently and started watching them through and it is just amazing to watch people transform. MonteCristo 10-26-2009, 03:17 PM Okay, it looks like we need a slight modification on the QOTD. So here is the updated version. Who or What inspires you in your weightloss journey? Is that better? :D tinabinab 10-26-2009, 04:05 PM QOTD: I guess for me, I have to attribute my current inspiration to some unknown person on the WW boards. Someone posted about how they have this and that issue and was seriously asking if they should just give up on WL. What she got in return to her question was a LOT of tough love. That is what has inspired my "motto" and has been keeping me going through the ups and downs of this journey so far. I have been very successful at weightloss in the past, but those efforts came fairly easy to me and ultimately I never learned to maintain. By last January, I'd seen the scale climb back to and above my previous all time high. I fought and struggled for many months and saw little (mere ounces) in the way of progress. It was so darn frustrating. I had that and other reasons to suspect that my thyroid might be out of whack but I had to beg my Drs. to test it. I finally convinced the nurse practitioner to order the test and sure enough I was hypothyroid. This was last November and my Dr actually commented that "no wonder you feel like crap!". :) While it is so much harder now than it has ever been for me, I am keeping with it and seeing progress. It's slow, but it's progress none-the-less. We're continuing to monitor and adjust my meds when needed. They still aren't stable. :( I want to reach my health goals and make this a lifetime solution; not only am I capable, dangit, I'm worth the effort! KimL1214 10-26-2009, 04:53 PM tinabinab~ You’re right! If it’s a loss in the end then you should be proud! shea5~ How is your plan for the week looking? crcossel~ Deep breath. First big step was posting on here and realizing what you are struggling with. Next, think of things that need to be fixed or changed and write them down. The things you still are having a hard time with, ask on here. Alos, I’m an awesome party planner :dizzy: Greatest Inspiration~ I don’t really know how to answer that question as I can think of a few people that have really helped to inspire me. I know this sounds corny, but I have really looked to the Biggest Loser show as a great inspiration as well. When I was training for my 5K at the end of last year, I spent a lot of time thinking about the contestants that not only ran a half marathon, but a complete marathon as well. I know that they live, eat, sleep, and breathe working out and eating right, whereas I am not lucky enough to be in that boat, but I know what I am capable of and watching them really helps me push myself. Sorry about the lack of posts over the past few days everyone! We had a 4 day weekend last week and I did not have any access to a computer. I’m not sure if I would have been on much anyways as I was pretty sick for most of the weekend. I only saw a 0.6 loss this week, but am still happy with that as I was not 100% OP during the break. One thing I really struggle with when I am sick is staying OP… I did finally buy a new IPod, so my no music excuse for the gym no longer exists!!! MonteCristo 10-26-2009, 05:11 PM There are no silly answers to the QOTD. Everyone is different, so we will all have different things that motivate us. Take me for example. I started this whole journey because I desperatly wanted to be a special agent in the FBI, but I knew I could never pass the entrance exams in my current state. So I went to work to change that. I lost over 50lbs and got up to running a full 5K, then I decided that I didn't really want to be an FBI agent after all. Was that a huge waste? NO! I'm thankful that it encouraged me into becoming a much more healthy and fit person, even if I decided that career didn't really suit me. To anyone else it might be wacky, but I'll always have a soft spot for the FBI because of the motivation it gave me. dcapulet 10-26-2009, 05:47 PM Monday's Discussion Question Who is your greatest inspiration in your weight loss journey? This may sound funny, but it's a friend of mine who really believes in me. Every time I mention something like "I want to run a little farther" or "eat a little better" she is always right there with "You can totally do it! You're awesome!" She inspires me to believe in myself, cause I know she believes in me. ArmyWife02 10-26-2009, 06:03 PM Monday's Discussion Question Who is your greatest inspiration in your weight loss journey? Every time I mention something like "I want to run a little farther" or "eat a little better" she is always right there with "You can totally do it! You're awesome!" Sunnigummi 10-26-2009, 08:09 PM Way to go those who lost this week! Unfortunately, I have gained from two weeks ago and I have plateaued since last week. I was really hoping that all my exercising this past week would show something and it was (!) until I stopped Sat, Sun and today and ate. I also got TOM today so that might've contributed to the whole "eat everything in sight" mentality that I had. We'll see if the hunger pangs decrease now...I'll just have to tighten the reins some and get my workouts in and my calories on target! How's everyone else doing? Cape Breton Chick 10-26-2009, 08:13 PM I guess I would have to say a friend of mine who has lost alot of weight and just finished a full marathon is one of my biggest inspirations, but before that and still is a huge inspiration and motivation for me is listening to Jillian Michaels... she is a weightloss story in and of herself and she works very hard for who she is. I am that driven.. I want to remain that driven... JasonsLea 10-26-2009, 08:55 PM  girls! Okay, so I totally caught myself doing the old self-sabotage today. :dz: BUT at least I caught it after one candy bar and not a week of gorging myself! What am I going to do? I always do this! I have all these deep set issues that I can't seem to shake and it causes me to screw myself over when I start having a little success, at least in the weight department. >.< I hope it doesn't rain tomorrow because I would really like to get to the gym and set up my routine. I really don't like Ballys, I miss the Y. :( QOTD: Oh wow, that kinda tough considering I keep tripping myself up. I mean, you 3FC ladies and also girls on Xanga are amazing. I've also started checking out vlogs on YOUtube, lots of wonderful people there. mythreesons 10-26-2009, 09:52 PM I have been out of the loop for a few weeks:o. I have not been doing well at all. In fact, I think I am up 2lbs from when I tried to start this journey. I am just so disgusted with myself at the moment. I feel as though I need to do this for myself but then something comes along and I decide to start tomorrow or I decide to start next week. With three children at home, I always put myself last and I have realized that I am compromising my health. I need to make time for myself so that they will have me around for the long run. I was reading through the threads and noticed there was a question of the week... "Who is your greatest inspiration in your weight loss journey" My children are definitely the driving force behind my weight loss journey. I want to be healthy for them and to have the energy to run around with them. I have filled my house with nutritional foods and I am making a menu tonight so hopefully I will be able to be successful. I know that I am out of the running for the Biggest Loser competition but if you will all have me, I would like to join in the discussions again. MonteCristo 10-26-2009, 11:43 PM I know that I am out of the running for the Biggest Loser competition but if you will all have me, I would like to join in the discussions again. You are more than welcome to join in the discussions and challenges. The more the merrier! Ms Perception 10-26-2009, 11:51 PM mythreesons-Glad you came back and we're thrilled to have you here. What's this all about if we can't support each other!? I also have 3 kids, ages 4, 5, and 9. They've come around to understanding that healthy choices are important. If yours are younger, be glad they'll know healthy living from the get-go. You gotta make time to be healthy and set healthy habits for the whole family. You can do it!!! Feeling good about choices and activity today. Not thrilled that the temps have dipped down again! I'm not loving running in the dark and freezing cold in the mornings!!! shan84 10-27-2009, 04:03 AM Hope everyone had a good Monday. I had a great Tuesday here in SK today. Food was on plan, water was on plan, but I forgot to take my vitamins and garlic pills this morning. I'll have to hop on that once I get home. Monday's Discussion Answer: I really don't have any person in particular who is inspiring me. I have been overweight all my life and drastically so for the past 5 years. I don't know what changed really in my thinking in the past 2 months. Finally I feel like its time for me to be the "real" me and challenge myself to reach my own goals. Not because anyone is telling me too, but because I want to. I think this is the first time in my life I really want to lose this weight. I am completely committed to this life change, and I have 8 more months here in South Korea to improve myself before I continue on the journey back home in the U.S. So yeah, I guess my inspiration is just coming from within. Also, I am inspired every week watching The Biggest Loser. I love Jillian and can imagine her yelling at me in the gym somtimes. :) MonteCristo 10-27-2009, 09:55 AM WEEK 6 RESULTS BIGGEST LOSER IGetFitNStrongforme - 4.4lbs (2.36%) RUNNER UPS JasonsLea - 4.4lbs (1.66%) Losing4another - 3.2lbs (1.49%) Shan84 - 5.0lbs (1.49%) TOTAL TEAM WEIGHT LOSS 28.4lbs TOTAL TEAM WEIGHT LOSS PERCENTAGE 0.41% Ladybug2680 10-27-2009, 09:55 AM Good morning everyone. They are my children, husband, and a really good friend. When I feel like giving up they encourage me to keep going and they believe in me. My son who is 7 will say you can do it mom and I can help you. I've tried losing weight before, but this time is different because I have the support of loved ones. I know we've lost a few more ladies, but I hope they'll continue to participate. Here I am holding at the exact same weight today, but I'm feeling good since I'm POP and did some extra ST'ing yesterday for the purpose of the week 7 exercise challenge. I'm hoping that's what's holding me steady on the scale. If so, tomorrow I should see a drop for sure. I know the 130's exist, darn it!! I hope my scale believes it too! So today my goal is to steer clear of the chocolate. Except the Hot Chocolate I already drank because it is so freakin cold this morning. Who is your greatest inspiration in your weight loss journey? To answer yesterdays question. I believe that all of you on 3FC are my greatest inspiration. There is nothing I love more than reading the goal/mini-goal post. I began this weightloss journey for myself to be healthier and look better. I started looking for recipies and guidance on the internet immediately and it lead me to 3FC. I feel extremely fortunate to have found this site. I think that anyone who has ever stuggled with weightloss would find this site inspirational!!! I am super tired right now as we had a 7AM meeting before school this morning… plus I have to work at the restaurant tonight. My stomach has been a little messed up all day which I haven’t quite figured out yet. I’m hoping to hit up the gym before work, but that depends on how long I have to mess with the itunes on this computer… Have a great night everyone! MonteCristo 10-27-2009, 04:26 PM MonteCristo-You are SO on the ball! Thanks so much for your responsiveness. It fills my need for immediate gratification!! LOL You're welcome! I totally understand the instant gratification thing. That is why I started keeping track of all the stats myself (even before I was a team leader). I just couldn't wait for everything to get posted. :p And luckily for me (and you guys too) I have a job where I'm sitting at a computer all day with unlimited internet access and not that much to do. :D rosetta 10-27-2009, 05:57 PM hi everybody its week 7............wow time flys.last week was so good as far as exercise was concerned n my diet also went well but im not seeing much of a loss...........infact this weight has been an issue for 2 years now..........i think i should get my thyroid checked.........i have all the symptoms .........maybe then this stalling will go away...........ive tried increasing decreasing calories more/less exercise but nothing seems to work........well maybe for a couple weeks and then im back to gaining weight.............im so sick of all this..............sorry for ranting so much...........anyways today its raining here so cant go out for a walk lets hope tomorrow is a better day ..............good luck all IgetfitNStrongforme 10-27-2009, 06:26 PM I have limited internet access, but I wanted to say :woohoo:! We won another week congrats to all my team members for their hard work. Antonia (Monte) you are doing such a great job, thanks again for taking us all on and leading! Rosetta I read about your thyroid concerns, please see a doctor when you get the chance and perhaps try the hypothyroidism diet, because I understand eating certain foods like soy for some people can negatively effect how their thyroid functions. You can find the diet on the internet. Diva 10-27-2009, 06:58 PM You're welcome! I totally understand the instant gratification thing. LOL!!!! MonteCristo 10-27-2009, 07:42 PM Dang, where can I get a job like that? LOL!!!! It is pretty sweet, but it comes with the territory. I'm an accountant, so we are pretty laid back (read bored) for most of the month, but we do have one week a month when we can barely get everything done. dcapulet 10-27-2009, 07:55 PM high fives to all the winners (losers) and everyone with the courage to just keep on going. that can be the hardest part! :bravo: Sunnigummi 10-27-2009, 07:55 PM So I totally spazzed and forgot to answer yesterday's discussion question. My mom inspires me. She has maintained her weight for her whole life (5'7" and 145 - 150 lbs). She gained weight with her pregnancies but worked out and cut portions to bring herself back to her starting weight. It's really inspiring to know someone like her. She is an incredibly determined person and I hope to be like her. She was able to have a successful career, bring up two kids and maintain a house and marriage through major life changes. We always call her "supermom". :) ----- I feel so happy with myself today! I went out for my walk right after I got up from my nap. This is a big deal for me because when I get up from my nap, I just want to laze. Today, I remembered the challenge and how I was missing minutes from yesterday so I decided to get up and go for it and guess what? It was raining BUT I managed to walk through the rain (just drizzling) for my whole 3.4 mile walk. *backpats self* :D This is definitely motivational for tomorrow. I'm getting my lunges and squats in once my dinner is a little more digested. ;) Congrats to RED TEAM for another weekly win!!! WOOHOO!! We are kicking SO MUCH BUTT!!! We totally rock! :cheer2: Congrats to IGetFit for being this week's biggest loser!!! :D Cape Breton Chick 10-27-2009, 08:59 PM Hey ladies.. I am so incredibly tired all the time and headachy, sore throat-ish, stuffy and chills...low grade temp nothing major but enough that i just feel blagh... I am cranky that I have seen a raise on the scale.. like a pound... grrr.... in a day.. thinking must be water... but I just want to let you all know that even though I may be being quiet over here because this just knocks it out of me by the end of the day...I am still here .. reading and keeping up... hopefully this will not last long... sighhhhhhhh :grouphug: O! and Sunni ... way to go on getting out for your walk today!!!Your rawkin it gurl..knew you would! It's been fun here in SK. I'm so ready for Friday to get here because I desperately need payday! My fridge needs food, and I want to join the gym on Saturday. Also, only 2 more days of teaching Geoje Marine science and then I get to transition into teaching yoga class and music class. Woohoo!! Ms Perception 10-28-2009, 10:49 AM Good morning everyone! I did not exercise last night but I did clean out a closet and kept moving pretty much from the time I got home until about 10 when I watched TBL. I am so sad Abby was sent home last night on TBL. I did enjoy seeing how inspirational she is and how fantastic she looked she seems like such a nice person. I really wanted her to win. Sunnigummi 10-28-2009, 11:15 AM Wow, MsPerception! I can't wait until I see the 140s!! That would be a dream come true after so many years. Good job!! :carrot: I meant to mention this yesterday but I forgot. About the challenges, is there any way to institute a reward system for them? Like, is someone is on target for the week's challenge (meets their exercise minutes goal and then some, for instance) would they get a reward such as an extra freebie? This will provide motivation for the challenges. The only con is that the team leader will have extra work in recording the members and freebies. The pros are that people will work harder to meet the challenge if only to get an extra freebie, in the process sticking to their plan. Those who need the freebie will work harder and get back on track. The only reason I bring it up is because I looked all over for anything hinting at a reward for challenges and couldn't find anything and then I thought of this. Sorry if I missed it and am bringing up old news. :) MonteCristo 10-28-2009, 11:27 AM Wow, MsPerception! I can't wait until I see the 140s!! That would be a dream come true after so many years. Sorry if I missed it and am bringing up old news. :) I like the idea of rewards for the challenges, but I don't know of a good way to implement them. We can't really add freebies because the two freebie thing is part of the rule, and it wouldn't really be fair to everyone who has already been eliminated if we made it possible to earn freebies now. Plus I don't think extra freebies will encourage people to work their hardest (because now they have an extra get-out-of-jail-free card). I don't know what else we could use as a reward, except it we rewarded ourselves, which is fun, but not quite the same thing. Ms Perception 10-28-2009, 12:23 PM Sunnigummi-Thanks! I hear what you're saying about the reward thing, but I kinda figure the results/pride are the reward. It's definitely something to think about though. It never hurts to have some external motivation, but Monte's right it'd be tough to implement. Monte-I am pretty thrilled to finally see the 130's. It has been a VERY long time since I've seen that decade! Now I want to get in there securely, so it feels more official, if ya know what I mean. ArmyWife02 10-28-2009, 01:44 PM I like the idea of rewards for the challenges, but I don't know of a good way to implement them. I don't know what else we could use as a reward, except it we rewarded ourselves, which is fun, but not quite the same thing. i remember last fall - if we won a challenge (like for this one- completed all the goal minutes for the week) - we got a badge to put in our signature lines that was designed for our team....just an idea ;) it'd be a way to get a reward that would motivate ;) KimL1214 10-28-2009, 04:17 PM rosetta~ I would definitely look into your thyroid, it really might solve a lot of problems for you if that is it. IgetfitNStrongforme~ Congrats on being the Biggest Loser this week!!! Sunnigummi~ Great job getting your walk in!!! I like the idea of rewards… what about a reward post, where everyone who accomplishes their goal gets recognized either by Monte or anyone else willing to keep track? Cape Breton Chick~ Hope you feel better! Mommyofsix~ I’m sad about Abby too, and I definitely teared up a bit last night when they went over her story again. ArmyWife02~ Oh, oh, I really like the badge idea!!! I want one!!! I love the idea of badges for in our signatures if we complete a challenge successfully! Now I want one! I’m trying really hard not to talk myself out of going to the gym on my way home, but I really am extremely exhausted after only getting 5 hours sleep last night. Normally 5 hours wouldn’t be bad… but I worked a 17 hour day yesterday and my body is really hurting. My cold is coming back and my sore throat is back and the more I type, the more I talk myself out of it… Compromise… Go home and take a 2 hour nap, then go to the gym (it’s open ‘til 9). Hmmmm, sounds good! Everyone have a great rest of your hump day!!! ArmyWife02 10-28-2009, 05:45 PM I'm so excited, that I just had to share my news with someone ;) I just got our daughter's first report card (she's in 1st grade) - she received ALL A's in her classes, plus Excellent in her PE, music, and art classes ;) And her reading is within her grade level ;) I'm such a proud mama!! I can't wait for my hubby to get online so I can share the great news with him too (he's currently in Iraq till early next year) :) ArmyWife02 10-28-2009, 09:57 PM So KimL - did you make it to the gym? It was a great day for me - I went to the gym this morning and did a few extra workouts that weren't on my list to do today then came home and finished my workouts at home (I only go to the gym for the equipment I need for some workouts - like the weight machines and cardio machines) ;) I did about an hour of workouts today - so I'm excited! Tomorrow and Friday are Cardio days - so I should be able to fit the remaining minutes for the week in those two days ;) course i'm thinking about doing some wii fit plus workouts tonight once the kids are in bed - to kinda make up for losing two days of workouts this week (TOM started and wasn't helping to get me motivated to workout).... Bette k 10-28-2009, 11:51 PM Hello Red Team, I hope everyone has had a great week so far. Warning Rant ahead, you don't have to read this, it just helps me feel better putting it into words. Mine hasn't been so good, I'm having way too much stress heaped on me lately and I am a stress eater. I swear if one more person calls to drop their problems on me I'm going to blow. For some reason my extended family thinks I'm going to solve all their problems and their lives will be perfect when I'm done. I can't even solve my own problems. I need to get away for a few days but can't afford to go anywhere so I've devised a diabolical plan. I am going to stay home Sunday and Monday but let everyone know I'm gone. I won't answer the phone, and DH will tell everyone I'm gone when he answers them. Right now the only person I'll talk to on the phone is my son, and if anyone has a problem short of death they will have to handle it themselves, and if they die then they can lay there till tuesday and then I'll handle it. I know this sound really cruel and heartless but the stress they have put me under has got me to the edge of a breakdown and I need to put myself first. If you are still reading then thank you and say a prayer for me, I'm getting through, but a few people are going to have to start fending for themselves. Bette K Ms Perception 10-29-2009, 12:11 AM Bette-My prayers are with you and great idea taking a vacation from those who are stressing you out! Enjoy your "trip"! ;) Armywife-Super cool your DD is doing so well. I know how thrilled I'd be to see those grades from my kids. We haven't gotten report cards yet...still a couple weeks out. You have every right to be a VERY proud mama!! I'm off to bed but wanted to comment on the couple posts I just read. Luckybustert 10-29-2009, 12:36 AM It is pretty sweet, but it comes with the territory. I'm an accountant, so we are pretty laid back (read bored) for most of the month, but we do have one week a month when we can barely get everything done. I think that must be a function of where you work and not the profession you chose....I'm also an accountant and we work our tails off all month long. It just gets even crazier than usual that one week of the month :) Luckybustert 10-29-2009, 12:45 AM Happy Wednesday everyone! I've been down with the flu the past few days - forgot to weigh in on Monday so I had to take a freebie. Had an allergic reaction to some estrogen cream my dr. prescribed....sheesh, it's just been a banner week hasn't it?! Oh well, back to work tomorrow and looking forward to a Halloween party this weekend. Doing pretty good at staying on plan but that's only because I couldn't find where my hubby hid the Costco-sized box of Snickers today. Glad I didn't find it - the urge to stuff my face passed pretty quickly, I think I was just bored. This is hubby's last week of dieting with me for awhile - he's taking a six week break for surgery that he's having in a couple weeks, then he'll be back on plan with me after that. Not much else going on here....it's cold and I'm freezing....hope everyone is having a really good week :) ArmyWife02 10-29-2009, 01:55 AM Bette K - that sounds like a great plan - hide from the world and take some much needed down time ;) Wish I could do that, but my kids bring my cell phone to me if it rings....lol they're 6 and 3 - so I can't 'hide' from them ;) LOL Suzanne - best wishes to your hubby for his surgery, and have fun at the party this weekend ;) shan84 10-29-2009, 04:47 AM Hope everyone has a good Thursday. It was uneventful here in SK. So glad I only have to teach ocean science five more times tomorrow and then I am finished with it. Saturday and Sunday we are doing a special Halloween program. On Saturday I'm teaching Hogwart Cinema (different movie genres, and then watching a movie), and on Sunday I'm teaching Halloween yoga and dance, and haunted hotel. Woohoo. Shaping up to be a good weekend. Also next week, I start teaching Yoga full time, 8 hours a day. I can't wait. Payday is tomorrow and my fridge REALLY cannot wait for it. So, hope everyone has a good Thursday and I'll be back to chat tomorrow (Friday for me). MonteCristo 10-29-2009, 09:34 AM I think that must be a function of where you work and not the profession you chose....I'm also an accountant and we work our tails off all month long. It just gets even crazier than usual that one week of the month :) Well, I've always thought I had a great job. :D I figured most accounting jobs were the same, but I guess not. Do you work in public accounting or cost accounting? I'm a cost accountant for a corp, so unless it is close week we usually aren't that busy (except for budgeting, year-end close, or little random projects that the other managers send our way). KimL1214 10-29-2009, 09:51 AM ArmyWife02~ Congrats on your daughter’s report card! I unfortunately did not make it to the gym as I managed to pass out on the couch until almost 8. I WILL be going this afternoon after school! Bette k~ Sounds like you really do need some time to yourself! Luckybustert~ Wow, sounds like a crazy week! Glad to hear that you’re feeling better! shan84~ Teaching yoga all day sounds amazing!!! So I didn’t make it to the gym last night or this morning which really disappointed me. I had planned on taking a little nap after school and then heading to the gym, but I ended up sleeping about 2 hours longer then I should have. There wouldn’t have been enough time for me to get to the gym before it closed by the time I woke up. I told myself I would go this morning instead, but my roomies dog woke me up at 3AM and I didn’t fall back asleep until 5… and would have had to get up at 5:30. Question… When you first started exercising, how did you get yourself motivated to get to the gym/go outside, etc.? I’m promising myself that I will go after school today and get a decent workout in to try and make up for some of my missed workout yesterday. Grrrrr, getting irritated with myself!!! Ms Perception 10-29-2009, 10:35 AM KimL-Here's to finding time to get to the gym! I think the best thing you can do is schedule it into your schedule just like work....it's a time commitment you cannot miss, so you go. I feel so much better when I keep up with it, so I don't miss because it really throws me off. That's my main motivation. Shan-Glad you're getting to move on to yoga. That should be fun and definitely help you keep plenty of exercise in your schedule! :) So, ladies, I sit here a happy woman this morning. Not only have I hit my goal for Ocotber (139.0), but I'm doing it wearing size 8 jeans!!!!! I haven't worn size 8 since high school and I didn't think I'd EVER see them again. I'm SO thrilled I cannot tell you. Hope you all are also enjoying good morning! shea5 10-29-2009, 01:13 PM :carrot: Congrats, that is so awesome!! sweetandspicy 10-29-2009, 01:20 PM Ms Perception- congratualtions to you. Size 8!!! You go girl!!! Hope everyone is doing well. Not to much to report. I did exercise last night ArmyWife02 10-29-2009, 04:14 PM Ms Perception - congrats on getting into a size 8 - i know that's a great accomplishment ;) KimL - I try to do it first thing in the mornings, so i have energy for the day and before life has a chance to take all my time and i make excuses as to why i cant. make an appointment for your workouts - you wouldn't miss a dr appt or work appt (meeting) - so you'll be more likely to workout. ;) Sunnigummi 10-29-2009, 09:43 PM MsPerception - awesome!!! :carrot: Bette - sorry to hear about your situation. That was me 6 months ago and I was really ready to lose it. I actually DID disappear for my wedding (how dare I have a life!!) and the event fell to pieces. Blah. That's what happens when ineffectual people are put in positions of responsibility. Ok, that was my own rant thrown in there, sorry. I do feel for you though! ArmyWife - oh that's wonderful about your daughter! Congrats to her and you! It definitely takes parental support to do well in school so good job to both of you! :carrot: I've been on an eating rampage today. I did manage to go for my walk and do lunges like I wanted to but my thighs were killing me today! They were so sore for some reason. I've just been walking briskly but this is the second week I'm walking so how come it's showing up now worse than it did in the first 3 days? Weird. I've been bouncing between 155 and 156 for the past week. Really hoping to see a drop in the next week or two but don't know if that will happen. :( Just wanted to add that I love the idea of a badge for making the challenges! That's a nice reward that's worth working for. :) Thanks to everyone for their input on the rewards. :) MonteCristo 10-30-2009, 09:22 AM So how is everyone doing this Friday? Are you ready for the weekend? Friday's Discussion Question How do you keep on track over the weekend? Ms Perception 10-30-2009, 09:36 AM Friday's Discussion Question How do you keep on track over the weekend? Oh my gosh! We're supposed to stay on track on the weekends?! Now I know why I've been struggling! LOL Seriously though, it's tough sometimes! The weekends are ususally a more relaxed schedule which tends to lead to more relaxed eating. I think for me, I just pre-schedule all my meals, as I mentioned before. It makes it easier to just follow my plan instead of letting my mood dictate my meals, or worse, letting my family decide! ;) shan84 10-30-2009, 09:56 AM The weekends are usually easier for me to control my food intake, water intake, and exercise because they are down time for me. Since I'm in South Korea, I have no family to spend time with on the weekends, so the weekends are truly mine to do with what I please. Sunday is usually my weigh in day and also my day off with regards to my exercise. So, as long as I spend the rest of the week on plan, then exercise off day is Sunday. I do still watch what I eat, but I usually have lower calorie days on the weekend just because I spend time at home and eat more fruits and veggies. Hope everyone has a great Friday. It was a good one here. Got paid and did some shopping! Tomorrow I'm heading to the gym to sign up and do my first official hour there. Then I'm off to work the afternoon and early evening at the school. Happy Halloween. Nicki54 10-30-2009, 10:13 AM No weigh in for me this week. DD was rushed into hospital on Sunday night with breathing problems and ended up in intensive care , she's now on the road to recovery and we hope to get her home either tomorrow or Sunday. I've been staying with her at the hospital until today, so any thought of dieting or exercise has been to be honest the last thing on my mind. Nicki Ms Perception 10-30-2009, 10:47 AM Nicki-Wow! Hope DD is feeling well enough to come home soon. That must've been scary! Well, thankfully she's on the road to recovery. Hope you're getting enough rest. I know sleeping a hospital isn't ideal. Shan-That's interesting about your weekends being easier. I realize now that for a few moths before we sold our house and DH and I were living 4 hours apart, the weekends weren't as big a deal...no easier or harder than any other day. But with people around, it does complicate things. Interesting..... On a personal note, the scale keeps moving for me which I'm thrilled with. I'm hoping I can post another nice loss for this next weigh-in. We'll see what happens when I get to "goal". I'm sure I'll keep going for a bit. There's still plenty of room to lose fat. The beauty is I can see more muscle now. My stomach is still pretty padded, but on my legs, arms and shoulders, there's some definition coming along. YAY! Well, off to make good use of my day... shea5 10-30-2009, 12:02 PM Friday's Discussion Question How do you keep on track over the weekend? I haven't been so much, one of my biggest problems, but i'm working on that this weekend. I need to have a plan, and stick with the plan...that will work out much better for me. crcossel 10-30-2009, 12:38 PM Weekends are not good for me....This weekend might be especially hard. We are throwing a pretty big halloween party this weekend. And I am a "out of sight, out of mind" person which means "in sight, in tummy" :D I am making a diet sangria so that at least will be better. Sunday morning. Brunch at the sports bar while we watch the Dolphins whip the Jets. Don't have any clue how I am going to do better.... KimL1214 10-30-2009, 04:11 PM Sunnigummi~ Your muscles are starting to rebuild themselves and the walking breaks them back down, so when they rebuild again, while they rebuild stronger, it does make you sore... it's a good thing! shan84~ How was the gym? Nicki54~ Wow! I’m so sorry, how are you? Ms Perception~ You’re so close!!! Staying on track during the weekend… is something that I really struggle with. I feel like I would do a lot better if I could get to a computer and vent when I start having a problem with something as there are few people that I can talk to around me that actually understand what is going on. I’m looking forward to the weekend, but not at the same time as I know it means a lot of time around the house which means a lot of time around food I really shouldn’t be around. I did make it to the gym yesterday, but feel like I didn’t really push myself nearly as hard as I could have as I’m not the least bit sore right now. I’m going tomorrow morning and am going to sit down and make a super tough workout for myself for tomorrow, so that I don’t slack once I am there. Everyone have a great weekend and I will post again on Monday! shan84 10-30-2009, 10:23 PM Happy Halloween here in SK!!! Getting ready to head into work in a few hours and play the role of vampire priestess/teacher. Haha! I went to the gym this morning and joined. I worked out for one hour because I was short on time, but it was great. I didn't waste a minute I was there. I did the treadmill brisk walking for 25 minutes, the bike for 10 minutes, and 25 minutes of strength training. I feel great!!! ArmyWife02 10-30-2009, 10:38 PM I make it into the little community gym this morning after we dropped off DD at school. they have a small room of toys and a cable tv for the kids, with glass windows, so we can see the kids - DS watch Handy Manny and other disney shows and played while I worked out ;) they have 5 weight machines, 1 bench with a rack of weights, and 6 cardio machines. i managed to do 10 minutes on the elliptical, 30 minutes on the treadmill (almost 2.5 miles on 4% incline) and 25 minutes on the bike ;) plus did 61 minutes of the new wii fit plus - i'm sore...and still plan to 'play' some workouts once i get the kids to bed. wanna play some tennis or boxing - always a good workout for me ;) lol I have 34 more minutes to hit the weekly goal. i only do workouts mon-fri, and i slacked more than usual this week due to TOM coming to visit :( so hoping to post a loss on monday since i'm doing great today on food and workouts. i still need to have dinner. but i'm only at about 20 grams of fat today, which is huge accomplishment compared to my normal days ;) but i did grocery shopping yesterday and have lots of healthy things in the house. today after school i had an apple for snack -instead of something not healthy that i would normally have. my morning snack was a fiber + antioxidants kelloggs bar (dark chocolate and almonds) after my workouts - was yummy and a much healthy thing to snack on to get my fiber and protein than usual.....i'm slowly trying to get things in order food-wise. i got lots of fresh and frozen fruit and veggies yesterday, so hope it helps (i'm not really a veggie kind of girl) - and need to finish stocking up on the v8 fusion juices i like, to help ;) get the veggies in my diet :) thank goodness you can't taste the veggies :) LOL Bette k 10-31-2009, 01:51 AM HI Red Team, Thank you for all the support, I've let everyone know that I'm not taking care of things anymore so I'm good for a while I hope. Now I just need to get off the sugar and chocolate again. Sunday it's supposed to be in the upper 50s so I will finally get the bulbs in the ground so I can have jonquils next spring, and possible take a walk through the timber with the rest of my family. Monday I'll be by myself at home most of the day so will be able to have some quiet me time. Nicki- Your DD is in my prayers, it is so hard to think of anything else when a child is sick. Shan84- Great job at the gym. Armywife-Sounds like you have a good place to go to workout, and your family sounds wonderful too. I admire your ability to keep it all together when your husband is deployed. It was hard when my son was gone, but I couldn't imagine how hard it must be to not have your husband there. Everyone else have a great weekend and stick to the tricks and avoid the treats on halloween. Bette K ArmyWife02 10-31-2009, 02:07 AM Thanks Bette K....It's not much - just a small room with a few pieces of equipment, but it's for the ppl living in my housing community (this is the biggest Army base, so we have about a dozen housing villages and most have their own community center, not many have a gym - ours is new so it does have a workout room. it's free, so I can't beat that compared to spending $30/month to have a gym off post with an included childcare. I have a workouts for each day planned out by my hubby (who just became a personal trainer - working out and all that stuff is his passion, along with being a mechanic) :) so i have a long list of workouts to do, so i do what i can at the gym then come home to finish them (the recovery/stretches, ball workouts, and weights/resistance bands workouts) - plus it gives my son some time with play with different toys (that AREN'T trains) :) LOL I finally got the kids off the Wii at 1030pm and in bed, since DD has gymnastics at 9am tomorrow morning on the other side of the base (it's only about 7-8 miles, but takes us about 20-30 minutes to drive it, since the speed limit is only 30 mph). So didn't get the last 34 minutes in to meet this week's workout challenge. but i should be able to fit it in between her gymnastics class, finishing laundry, and taking the kids out trick or treating. I was hoping the box my hubby mailed with my old HRM would have come by tomorrow, so I could use it to count my calorie burn while walking the neighborhood for T or T....but i doubt it. he mailed it on the 20th, the same day i mailed him a box. he got his box a couple days ago, but mine still isnt here (it also has a book for each kid and a SD card of a video of him reading them the books), plus my HRM he borrowed. well i can hope the mailman brings it in the morning, but not getting my hopes up. but at least it should arrive next week at the latest. ArmyWife02 10-31-2009, 02:12 AM HI Red Team, Armywife-Sounds like you have a good place to go to workout, and your family sounds wonderful too. I admire your ability to keep it all together when your husband is deployed. It was hard when my son was gone, but I couldn't imagine how hard it must be to not have your husband there. Bette K It's just something we've had to find a way to 'get used to' - if there is such a thing?! We've been together for over 10 years, we celebrate our 8th wedding annv next year, shortly after he hits 9 years in the army....by then, he will have been gone for half of it for deployments, school, and training assignments...so he tries to really enjoy family time when he is home. we're hoping he might get a different assignment, which might let him have more dwell time home, his longest time home in one stretch so far is 17 months, and that was before the deployments even started. ;) lol they're saying this next dwell time should be about 18 months - which would be wonderful :) if it happens like they say it will ;) lol MonteCristo 10-31-2009, 08:14 AM Hi Everyone! I was really busy yesterday, so I couldn't really post much, and I'm about to take my brothers and sisters to grandma's for the day, so you probably won't hear from me until tomorrow. I hope everyone stays on plan today, and we have a fabulous weigh-in on Monday! Cape Breton Chick 10-31-2009, 10:36 AM Hey everyone... I have been MIA this week for the most part as I have been down with a huge cold and by the time I got through my day at work I was pretty much finished.. lol I am still very stuffed up and not 100% but definately feeling some better. I have good news.. I got on the scale this morning and am down 3.4 pounds this week... talk about a happy me! lol I hope everyone is having a good week... I have some major laundry to do today and dishes and then baking mini pumpkin loaves for a bake sale tomorrow and of course it is halloween so since this is my first halloween in this house I am not sure if I will get many trick or treaters if any at all.. so am trying to be prepared.... but I am only going to buy treats this morning and then I am going to take the leftovers and put them in the "treasure box" at work.. its a box the kids can choose a treat out of on Fridays if they have had a good week..lol So in saying all of that i better move my butt.. i will be back later :grouphug: ArmyWife02 10-31-2009, 01:06 PM WTG Angela on the weight loss ;) I'm hoping to lose some for this week, but we shall see :) i'm doing major laundry today too and kitchen cleaning since my sinks are filled. lol then getting us ready for trick or treating tonight ;) Ms Perception 10-31-2009, 03:26 PM Happy Halloween, everyone! Been pretty relaxed here. I got my run in and was SUPER glad to see another little drop on the scale. Tomorrow we're going out to a local pizzeria (one of the kids' and our favorite places) as a special treat, so I will be off-plan for that meal, but otherwise all my meals are planned and ready for another healthy week to start out November. Thankfully my weigh-in is tomorrow morning, so I should have good news to report! :D Nicki54 10-31-2009, 07:44 PM Just to let everyone know DD is back home.:carrot::D Nicki Ms Perception 10-31-2009, 10:58 PM Nicki-YAY!!!! Hope she makes a good transition back home and feels healthy soon! Nicki54 11-01-2009, 01:23 AM A great big  to you all for your kind thoughts and prayers for my DD over the past few days. Sorry that I've been unable to respond until now. To look at her now you wouldn't believe that anything had been wrong with her, in fact she wanted to go out 'trick a treating' and so we compomised and she got dressed up but handed out the sweets at the door. So she didn't miss out too much. Nicki JasonsLea 11-01-2009, 03:06 PM  girls! I hope everyone had a fantastic Halloween! I actually braved the RiverWalk with a friend and her son. Managed not to have a panic attack, got to see some pretty cool costumes, and got in over 3 hours of walking! That's a win in my book. ;) Oh and the only treat I had was an outrageously priced mini-cup of cinnamon-chocolate ice cream. :D WI was today and I'm down 2.4 lbs! Yay me! ArmyWife02 11-01-2009, 03:17 PM That's awesome Shari - I've always wanted to go to the RiverWalk....maybe we'll make the trip to go before we get restationed away from TX, since we're just 3 hours north of you ;) we've been here 4 years, and finally went to the beach at CC and Sea World and the TX Aquarium this summer ;) lol JasonsLea 11-01-2009, 03:38 PM AW ~ You should make a trip down here during Christmas season. They have the whole walk decorated, lights everywhere, VERY pretty! I've lived here for almost two years and I have yet to go to the beach, Sea World, or anywhere really! I've only been to the RiverWalk like three times, enough though I used to live right near downtown and I've driven to Houston once when I was dropping a friend off. I need to go exploring! shan84 11-01-2009, 06:26 PM Just checking in after this weekend. I'm down another 4lbs this week! WOOHOO!!! I'm feeling better than I have in a really long time and I am so looking forward to hitting my new years goal! ArmyWife02 11-01-2009, 06:49 PM that sounds like fun Shari ;) the kids might like the lights :) I figured the Riverwalk was more for the grownups, so that's why we haven't been....have to have someone keep the kids for a day - since it'd be 6 hours just of driving ;) but if I'm feeling up to the driving i might come down for the lights at Christmas ;) Sea world was great, but the aquarium in corpus isn't all that we hoped it'd be....but the beach down at mustang island/padre island isn't too bad ;) but we're used to the beaches in GA and FL - since we're east coasters we are used to the Atlantic ocean - not the gulf. MonteCristo 11-01-2009, 07:30 PM I've put up the Challenge thread for week 8. Take a look! Aclai4067 11-01-2009, 09:06 PM Hey all. Sorry I've been a bit awol this week. Not a good week for me. I just kinda didn't do anything right, then paid for it with a gain. :( But I'm back on track today. We had wonderful weather for some outdoor exercise so I went to Stone Mountain Park and walked up the mountain (For those of you not too familiar with Ga geography, it's not actually a mountain [too short to qualify], but it's a granite monolith, and a great place for a workout). Stayed within my points today, and bought some groceries to keep me on track throughout the week. vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
