hey ladies, dont go to the 5 pound challenge in the 20 somethings thread.

I am new to this so I wasn't sure. Thank You jasonslea.

I was at at 178lbs and came down to 171 today.

I am starting another challenge. I want to lose another 5 pounds yeah!

So please someone correct me if I am wrong-- my challenge will be to lose 5 lbs from 171 or since I lost 7 lbs from 178 -- my challenge is to be 5lbs less than 173.

Which is it??

I will definitely try to challenge myself to do 5 lbs from 171. But just making sure.

When you weighed in day, it was 171, right? Then your challenge is to lose 5 lbs from that, 166.

Good morning ladies! Very busy work weekend. Plus, another exam on Tuesday so lots to study! :)

Anyway. Struggled with post gym weight gain the end of last week and all weekend. But proud to say I am back down to 246.4

My post-TOM week is almost always my best shot at a quick loss (in order to win one of these 5# challenges). To be honest, I plan on making it to GOAL sometime in mid-November and then trying to hold there through Thanksgiving and the end of November. (Then decide if that's where I want to stay.) So, like others have said before, I just love seeing my challenge goal weight going down, down, down even if I never win one.

I've managed to stay the exact same which I'm hoping is because I did extra strength training yesterday. So, tomorrow should show a drop since I've been POP. Now cooperate, body!!

Hey there MsP. I gotta question.....why does my weight stay the same even though I am almost POP and working out with 500+ cal cardio burns at the gym? Could it be all the weights and my body holding fluid and trying to figure out what to do? It is very frustrating not to see any movement in the scale for days on end.....except in the up direction at times. The better the workout the higher the scale.

Congrats on almost goal. Like I said before, it is so close for you even I can taste it. :)

jellofer-Check your cal intake. It may be too LOW or too HIGH. Either way can really slow you down. Also, water is a biggie. Are you drinking at least 1/2 your weight in oz. of water? (Ex: I weigh 140, I should drink AT LEAST 70 oz water daily.) Our bodies are complicated things, so I can't say with certaintly, but there seem to always be a few main things. Are your calories mostly coming from fruits, veggies, whole grains, and lean protein? Are you taking in a lot of sodium? Or sometimes the body just wants a change...different exercises or routines. Hope I've helped a little, but if not just experiment with stuff. I know I've done that a bunch when I've hit plateaus or progress has really slowed. I'm not a fast loser to start with, so I don't need anything slowing me down! LOL Enjoy the journey!

Thanks MsP. I drink about 4 liters of water per day. Which is about 128 oz. of water. I also don't count what I take in during my workouts. I have been doing low carb, high pro and so only been counting protein grams and carbs. Most of my calories come from protein.

As far as the workouts go, I have dramatically increased the intensity and the duration. So am wondering if that is not helping. I know that muscle wieghs more than fat.....but it dawned on me in class that as we increase our physical activity we are also increasing the weight of our bones. I had a small bit of whole grain pita bread with my salad today. It was tasty. We shall see. I can really start to see muscle definition in my body....so that is good. I am sleeping better, and my clothes are continuing to get bigger. I really shouldn't complain, but It would be nice for the scale to cooperate once in a while.

No true workout scheduled for today. I have my first therapy session for my hip and back today. So That will give my body time to relax and readjust. Maybe that will help. I will try to increase the water abit and see if that helps. Thanks for the support.

I'm curious...what does drinking water do to help with weight loss? I know it's good to drink water, and healthy. But are there other reasons?

saramommy-The water is to help your body work properly. Since every organ in your body passes things in and out through fluid, it allows those organs to work properly/more efficiently. Along that same line, you need it to stay regular so your waste (solid and liquid) can pass through your digestive system and be expelled properly. Also, dehydration/not enough water makes your body think you have lack of water supply, so it'll hold on to what you have and you'll have water retention. It's the perfect fluid for the body for those and other reasons. Hope that sheds some light (and wasn't too gross...I come from a medical family ;))!

As far as my shoulder Pain~I had the flu On top of Over doing My exercises.
I Walk an hour & a half everyday & ride the exercise bike really fast for 20 minutes and It was just all doing my shoulder in...But ewven thouigh still sore so much better after a couple of days of rest...I am just back to my walking and not the bike though.

ok ladies. I am on plan vacation today. I did the calorie counts today and I was not eating enough for the calorie burn that I was doing at the gym. So I decided today to go off plan for the day. Then back to normal tomorrow. I am hoping to see a drop sometime this weekend. MMMMM potatos!!!!!! Have a great night and chat with you all this weekend. Sort of trying to trick mybody.

Lori-Ouch!! Sounds painful. I think while we're on the mend, it slows our weight loss while the body focuses on healing. Maybe your body is ready to let you lose again. YAY on 173!

Oh please, oh please let me me have a massive drop in the morning tomorrow to win! LOL We're eating out pizza for lunch tomorrow, so I'm pretty darn sure I'll be up a bit Monday morning. It's a special treat at one of my family's very favorite places, so there's no guilt at all. I firmly believe in enjoying special treats on rare occassion and I will DEFINITELY enjoy it! :D

Well, no big drop today. In fact, I went up a touch. I almost certainly won't weigh-in tomorrow due to today's meal choices. Lori, you are so right! Homemade pizza is yummy! (How do you make yours?) The pizza at the pizza place wasn't that special, but they have some other yummy stuff that I enjoy. To tell you the truth, it's the fried shrimp and desserts! Shhhh...that's my little secret. It's a very rare treat, but you can't admit to eating that stuff on the weight loss message boards! LOL

Well, girls, there it is. I'm back almost to starting weight. It's been quiet here. I hope everyone is healthy and doing fine. I am feeling great. The last couple days have been really rejuvenating for me. I just feel refocused and ready to finish this thing. I bought myself some more time on here though since I bounced up a couple pounds, but some of it is certainly water since my rings are tighter and I did a really nice ST'ing session yesterday. I plan to be back to my previous low in 2 days. If not, my body will regret messing with me! LOL

ms. perception~I just use everything from the save alot store here.
I Use Regular dough In a pack that you just add water too (I measure it out to suit my calories for the day) And there sauce and there cheese and there pepporonis~I just measure it all out and make them from a little over 300 calories to a little over 700 calories........Whatever I can comfortable fit in of a day...........I have looked at most brands of everything above at other stores also and as long as you measure and count ~you can fit in Homeade pizza anyday!!!HUGS!

Lori-By "regular dough" do you mean like baking mix or do you actually use pizza dough mix? I've taken a liking to making pita pizzas (using a non-pocket pita as the crust). They're super yummy and easy and can definitely fit into your cals for the day! Thanks for the info. We have a save-a-lot here too!

Still up from halloween & my dd's b-day.....Not sure on weigh though didn't get a chance to step on the scale. Gives me another day to be on plan.

Msp- We have a awesome pizza place here ...They make it like homemade but it's super high in calories. So yummmy... If the world didn't have pizza and chocolate staying on plan would never be a problem for me:lol:

Lori- Guess what????... I found a save a lot close to Dh's work today by accident. I took a different way home and there it was. Way easier to get into then the one closer to the house. Now your homemade pizza will so be on our family's menu :D

Ms. p pizza dough mix~yep or well Pizza crust mix. Says pizza crust on it. It's del pino's brand. TOTALLY DELICOUS!!!

It is like the dream pizza ~I like it better than My favorite Pizza Place here In OHIO...Called Giovanni's and there pizza rocks~but this is WAY BETTER EVEN!!
When i buy The giovanna's For my family we usually order 2 Large and its about 35.00 Or so And 2 of the homemade near the same size cost about About 6.50 And you have plenty left to make a couple of more!!!
I always use non stick spray on my pan too.(I figure most people do that ~but just incase not I wanted to mention it)

I plan on re-joining you all on Friday, when I face the scale. It's been tucked in my closet all week. The past few weeks (um, months) have been pretty challenging for me. I'm getting my mojo back! Part of my motivation and encouragement comes for being here with you all!

So glad the scale let me back into the 130's, but also dissappointed I'm still retaining major water. Normally I don't hold on to it like this, but my rings are not loose like normal, so I know that's what it is. Well, I'm happy to say I'm OP and I'll looking my goal in the face soon!!

Lori- I know it ...Teenagers are stressful :lol: I will let you know how the pizza turns out when I get a chance to try it. I'm starting some new meds that are supposed to give me some stomach upset for a while so I'm going try to stay with the mild type foods for a while. Unless I'm one of the lucky ones that don't get many side effects

Thanks Jellofer! I am excited to join this challenge...I think it will keep me motivated :).

Here is my today's weigh in. I am not sure how many often you all weigh, but I have been recording everyday at same time (first thing in morning). And I have noticed it fluctuates a lot. For example: I was 143 one day, next day 144, then 141 and then back to 143. But still thinking as long as I see lower digits more often - I am good to go.

Does this happen to any of you???

I went up as high as 282.8 this week after being down to 280.6. With so much frustration over this, I upped my exercise by 30% yesterday and now I'm heading down again. Yay!

Just an update, the scale moved a little this morning, but I am pretty sure it will be back up tomorrow. Doing Low Carb (kinda modified) and went to Chiptole (splurge cause I was in the city, doesnt happen very often) and got a bol, was trying to stay away from the tortilla when I bit into it realized they put rice in the bol too. So kinda messed up there. BUT will be back on track tomorrow morning.

Yesterday was a bad day for me. I had to be out for almost 4 hrs...i made sure I had lunch at home so I wouldn't get hungry, but I guess it was light lunch or so. I stopped at a mexican place with my DH. Ate lots of chips & Salsa...also had rice...loved it but later regreted it. Oh well...just have to get up again & get running.

Scale stayed the same for me today. I'm OP and feeling great, but my muscles are still achy from Thursday's workout, so I'm guessing my muscles are holding on to some water or something. No worries..should be down tomorrow.

Hmm up a bit today from Friday. Think I've not walked enough, and the japanese takeaway on Friday night was probably saltier and more calorific than I thought. Oh well, it's nice and not rainy today so great day to go for a nice long walk to burn those extra calories :)

Haven't posted in a bit. I got off track and gained 7 pounds in water weight (I'm sure it was water weight because once I started eating healthy again it all came off in a matter of days). Got on the scale this morning and thank GOD it is gone!! No more getting off track for me!! Need to update my tickers.....

I am happy. Since last few months, 141.4 is the new low for me :). It's not much (I used to be 115 lbs 5 yrs ago). But for my small goal - it's some encouragement.
