Biggest Loser Challenges - RED TEAM Week 6 ChatView Full Version : RED TEAM Week 6 Chat MonteCristo 10-19-2009, 09:09 AM Here is the new chat thread. Let see how high we can rack up the post count this week! MonteCristo 10-19-2009, 09:10 AM Monday Discussion Question - What exercise makes you feel the best about yourself, and why do you think that is? shan84 10-19-2009, 09:15 AM Since it's Monday night here in SK, I'll jump right in and get us going. I had a great day today food wise and exercise wise. The week 6 exercise challenge is perfect for me and I hope I can put in the work and beat TOM this week. Monday discussion question- I really, really, really love working out to my Richard Simmons Sweatin to the Oldies 1-4. It makes me feel the best about myself because the people in the video not only encompass the overweight person I am now, but the healthy new me that I am striving to achieve. I love the way the music makes me feel, and even though a lot of people put down Richard Simmons, he really knows how to be compassionate and really lifts my spirits. Hope everyone else gets off to a good start for Week 6! GO RED TEAM!! MonteCristo 10-19-2009, 09:38 AM Monday discussion question- I really, really, really love working out to my Richard Simmons Sweatin to the Oldies 1-4. I may have to give that a try. I usually hate exercise videos, for two main reasons; I'm extremely picky about the music I enjoy, and I HATE those tiny little upbeat people. ;) But I love oldies, so maybe this would be something I would like. Would you mind telling me some of the songs that He uses? Thanks! Ms Perception 10-19-2009, 09:51 AM MonteCristo-Thanks for starting us out with a fresh thread. I really fell behind here and completely lost track of the Red Team threads last week. I am back and ready to be a supportive Red team member. Shan-I agree it's easy to tease Richard Simmons, but I always enjoyed his videos because you could just feel how much he wanted to help people get healthy! Igetfitandstrong-Thanks for the :kickbutt: I know I haven't been on here like I should. Time to refresh my commitment to RED;) The exercise that makes me feel best about myself is probably running, followed closely by weight lifting. Both are things I really enjoyed as a teen but didn't pursue as much when I gained weight. Now I feel fit and healthy as I do those things. I can see the muscle firming slowly and my endurance and speed are slowly improving while running. That feeling of youthful strength is fantastic! Unfortunately, recently I've been experiencing some pain in my right foot which is making me slow down on my runs and evaluate whether to completely stop running until the pain leaves or just baby it between runs and see how that goes. So far, I've been doing the second thing. I REALLY don't want to stop running and honestly my foot feels no better or worse after running, so I figure, why not run? The other down side is that I experience the pain (not major) during any exercise that involves me being on my feet. I'm not sure about the best course of action here. I've finally gotten to a good exercise routine and now to stop would make me feel like crap! P.S. The above is the reason I've not joined the exercise challenge. I'd love to but not sure I can. :( sweetandspicy 10-19-2009, 10:16 AM Good morning/ good evening to you all. I can not post a loss for this week. I weighed this past Wednesday and I had actually gained so I lost that pound and 4 oz and am back where I started. I need to get back on track I did so well this past summer. This cold weather is doing me in. What exercise makes you feel the best about yourself, and why do you think that is? I did exercise last night but not as much as I need too. I need to get back in the habit. When I exercise consistantly I feel better about myself because I feel like I have accomplished something for myself. Something just for me. I have more energy and confidence when I exercise and I have done so well and seen some great results since I began my weightloss journey. With all that said. Some nights I still can not motivate myself to exercise. I did the 30day shred DVD by Jillian Michaels and I felt great!!! Monte Cristo- way to get our week started. Thank you for your leadership. Shan- remember when the Sweatin tapes first came out and my mom bought them. I will have to see if she still has them. Great job on the exercise. Ms Perception- I hope your foot feels better, but way to go on exercising through the pain. Sunnigummi 10-19-2009, 10:32 AM Good morning/ good evening to you all. I can not post a loss for this week. Ms Perception- I hope your foot feels better, but way to go on exercising through the pain. This could've been me posting! I was on a ROLL this summer and now I've just kinda become a lump. Yesterday was my first day back to exercise. I really needed this week's challenge! As far as exercise, I would say anything that gets my heart rate up and feeling sore afterward (legs and arms, not my heart :p). I love walking briskly. I love jogging too. I feel like a "runner" you know those super fit chix who always jog past in sports bra and shorts with their iPods and they're barely breaking a sweat and they're super toned? I always keep that image in my head while I'm jogging. It keeps me going. :) Nicki54 10-19-2009, 10:35 AM :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:  Nicki. Luckybustert 10-19-2009, 10:43 AM Hi team! I haven't been here a lot either, it's our busiest time of the year right now and by the time I finally get home half the time all I want to do is crash. So what's new with me....was diagnosed with a vitamin D deficiency and am now on high dose supplements and OMG it's amazing how much better I feel. This past weekend I actually had an overabudance of energy and it was really, really nice because I got a lot done. I posted a 2.8 lb loss this morning....I'm down a total of 13.6 lbs for this challenge, and down 26 lbs overall. Go me! lol I'm very happy with my progress. I also haven't posted here a lot because a thread I posted about the diet I'm currently on was closed with the comment that 3FC doesn't support that diet. I felt like whoever closed it didn't bother to read that I'm not on a severe starvation form of the diet, and wasn't willing to consider that maybe it's possible to take some of the good things about a diet and use them without going to extremes? So I was very disappointed with that and needed some time to sort out my feelings. Bottom line...I don't feel like I can post about the diet I'm on here, but I think everyone can tell from my post in the weigh-in thread that I'm losing a couple pounds a week which is a safe rate of weight loss. And all of my doctors, not just my diet doctor, are very happy with my weight loss and are very supportive. So it's all good whether others agree with my choices or not :) Monday Discussion Question - What exercise makes you feel the best about yourself, and why do you think that is? I really like any exercise that is fun and doesn't FEEL like exercise. Water aerobics is a favorite because it just feels like splashing around and goofing off in the pool. I also like Turbo Jam....it's a little more like exercise, but it's fast-paced and bouncy and some of the routines just make me laugh sometimes! Ms Perception 10-19-2009, 10:58 AM Sunnigummi-That's a great mental picture to keep while running. Thanks for sharing that. I want to be that toned, fit chick running down the road! It would ROCK if I was at that point next summer and could run around in running shorts and a tight running top without worrying about what's jiggling! LOL Luckybustert-Sorry to hear your diet thread was closed, but as long as your doing something healthy that you can sustain as a lifestyle long-term, then keep it up. I always just ask myself if I can do this (eat this way, do this exercise) the rest of my life and if I can't answer yes, then I don't even begin that thing. Take care and thanks for coming on here! Mommyofsix-It is definitely a tough time of year. Don't worry about maintaining. You were able to get off the excess and now you can make progress from there. This colder weather here has certainly dampened my enthusiasm for running outside, but I have made some changes to make it better. I'm in charge here, not the temperature! LOL BTW, I love your avatar. You have such a sweet, beautiful smile! Thanks for sharing it with us!! tinabinab 10-19-2009, 11:12 AM Good morning ladies! (And good evening to you Shan!) As for the question of the day, I would put running as the one that feels the best to me. I love doing my exercise outside and as a life-time asthmatic, running is not something that is easy for me at all. I mostly only do it in intervals (kinda a modified C25K); I don't know if I will ever be able to run a full mile in one stretch. It kicks my butt, but I always feel so invigorated and empowered afterwards. Love that "high". I'm on another high this morning. After my 1 lb gain last week, I logged a 4 lb loss this morning. It's the second day in a row that number appeared on the scale, so I'm feeling pretty darn good about it. I think my muscles may have been retaining water last week after all the stair climbing I'd done at Great Wolf last weekend. I also took my measurements this morning, but I can't seem to find the paper where I had written down the original numbers. Wah. I use WW online, and I can see where the measurements are listed, but I cannot for the life of me figure out where to actually enter them in. Anyone know? Hope everyone has a great week 6!! Ms Perception 10-19-2009, 11:35 AM tinabinab-Go into Weight Tracker and at the bottom of the page you should be able to enter your new measurements. Hope it works! tinabinab 10-19-2009, 11:55 AM Thanks!! I could see the stats page, but I couldn't figure out where to click to add updates. (Apparently I'd entered some numbers in back when I first did WW online.) So I finally figured out if I pulled up each measurement chart and clicked on the circle for today that I could put a new number in there. Awesome - thanks! SimpleRhythm 10-19-2009, 12:09 PM Greetings Ladies! I totally apologize for not being a supportive teammate. My life has just been very emotionally draining lately and I find that sometimes by the end of the day I just don't have anything left to offer. I am still fully committed to the REDS though! What exercise makes you feel the best about yourself, and why do you think that is? I agree with the multiple posters above who said RUNNING! I love running!!! I completed my first half marathon last year and am going for my second in Nov. Mind you I'm not fast and don't look like one of those "running chicks," but I just love the way it makes me feel. A close second...Zumba! A class they have at the Y that's latin dance based aerobics. A great workout and a ton of fun. MrsVegan00 10-19-2009, 02:12 PM Good Day Ladies!!!! Im glad to see so many posts this morning!! and glad to see im one of them lol. great job for all the losses this week! i totally agree it has been a busy start i hope to be able to make more time to come and check in more then my weigh ins but sometimes its impossible ugh! but ill figure it out. SimpleRythm i totally want to try out zumba we have it at the gym out here but im scared of taking a class, dont want them to kick my butt... but it sounds great, i think ill look into it =) for mondays discussion question i agree totally with sunnigummi! i love anything that makes you sore or keeps your heartrate up, i know i had a good workout if my legs are sore and im sweating! anything that makes me sweat eww huh! its great!!!!! shea5 10-19-2009, 02:31 PM :carrot: Go Red!! Week 6: I also want to say thank you to Igetfitandstrong for sending me a kick too, I needed it; I have a tendency to read and not post, especially if I'm feeling in a slump, and thats where I've been for the past few weeks, a pretty strong slump. Lots of reasons, but it all just adds up to me having to take charge of several areas of my life. It's a slow path, but I already feel 100% better today than I have recently. (Not enough to get on the scale this week, I'm afraid to be honest because of the past two weeks being so yucky feeling and miserable) I'll just take what it gives me next week, and go from there. What exercise makes you feel the best about yourself, and why do you think that is? This has been and always will be swimming. I was never very graceful on my feet, and never much liked running, but was always pretty good in the water. It really brings you to a peaceful place, too, because the pool and water mute almost all sounds but swimming, so you can really focus. I enjoy it immensely, and need to get back to my Master's team practices this week. Keep up the good work everyone!! cakses 10-19-2009, 03:37 PM QOTD: Lately no exercise has been making me feel good but usually running does the trick. I am forcing myself this week to run at least three times to get myself back into the swing of things. I'm in a big funk right now! IgetfitNStrongforme 10-19-2009, 04:52 PM Monday Discussion Question - What exercise makes you feel the best about yourself, and why do you think that is? Well for me any aerobic exercise makes me feel good, I get a high about 20 minutes in that is addictive. It just feels, so good to be moving and I love that my body is getting stronger each time. MonteCristo: First of all I hope you are feelling better. Also I just wanted to say you are a great leader and you are making this so much fun! Thank you for taking us on! Shan84: I love Richard Simmons, I agree he is very positive and you can tell he really cares. Ms Perception: Thank you so much for the kind words in the PM and here. Oh foot pain that is hard, I had that for a while it was Plantar fasciosis, that’s why I bought a stationary bike but losing the weight is what really helped me. If you can, please go to a sports medicine doctor, I am sure they can help, they helped me. Mommyofsix: It’s probably water retention I can just look a salt and I blow up. Don’t beat yourself up, I am in the same boat, TOM is here for me. Sunni: You are not alone, everynight I become a lump in front of my TV! :D LOL Nicki54: I see you are from the UK, where abouts? Luckybustert: I have heard about the vitamin D deficiency it makes it very hard to lose weight. I am so glad they discover what was ailing you and congrats on your weight loss! Tinabinab: Congrats on your 4lbs loss! You must be on top of the world! SimpleRythm: Zumba I have been wanting to try that ever since I saw it on Dr. Oz. MrsVegan: Okay I am now going to have to try Zumba, two people is a sign. Are any speical things needed to take the class, shoes etc.? Shea5: Oh thank you for the sweet PM and what you said here. We are each here to pull each other out of slumps. Cakes: And we are here to help each other through the funk! KimL1214: I know you are ill but when you log in I wanted you to know someone was thinking about you. Get well soon. dcapulet 10-19-2009, 05:15 PM Good question! I think weight training makes me feel the best about myself, cause i'm good at it, and it makes me feel strong!! Big  to all! Sunnigummi 10-19-2009, 08:23 PM Hey all, back again. I finished my walk a couple of hours ago. It was GREAT! Really, I felt awesome. I came back and I was sore so I'm guessing I'm going to see another jump in weight tomorrow (this morning I weighed 158, a lb up from yesterday). Sigh. I know my commitment matters more than motivation but I can't help but get irritated when I see a jump in weight only because I know I've been staying on plan. Today's cals were 12 over my range (1600 - 1800) but that's alright. Tomorrow's another day. I still have a deficit of 100-ish calories, which makes me happy. Better than being 100 over right? :) Here's a  and a good luck to all for this week!! Let's kick some blue butt!! :carrot: IgetfitNStrongforme 10-19-2009, 08:48 PM Hey everyone! Just stopping in to say hi before I head to my WW meeting! I hope everyone is doing well I will try and do Personal tomorrow! Happy Monday NIGHT! My friend posted on week 5, so I helped her and moved it. :) Aclai4067 10-19-2009, 11:19 PM Long day, super tired. Just checking in real quick. QOTD: Running makes me feel best because it's something I was unable to do for sooooo long. Sure I can't run that far yet, but I am running and I'm not in pain! MonteCristo 10-20-2009, 12:00 AM My, my, aren't we chatty. :D It is good to see everyone coming together to encourage and support each other. :woohoo: And I guess I should answer our discussion question.............My favorite exercise is what I call "freestyle aerobics". I strap on a heart rate monitor, turn on some good music or an upbeat tv show, and just do whatever to keep my average heart rate up to about 120 for 45 minutes or so. It is completely unstructured, so I can do lunges or jumping jacks, or even throw in latin dance moves. It makes it seem more like playing than exercise. Just wanted to say congrats to Jessica for once again being our biggest loser! Woohoo! Your doing amazing. Also congrats to our runner ups!! Hope everyone has a great Tuesday. I'm so ready for tomorrow morning. It means I'm halfway through week 6 here!! sweetandspicy 10-20-2009, 10:24 AM I walked/jogged last night which makes me feel better about that tiny piece of Birthday cake I ate. I usually do not indulge but I fell to the peer pressure. There are so many Birthdays around here and with the holidays coming up I am going to have to watch myself. The weather is warming back up a little bit and that helps get me motivated to exercise. My sister also gave me a great stroller for running so now I have no excuse not to walk/jog because I can take my youngest with me. We also have a really steep driveway and while Drew was playing yesterday evening I did lunges up and down and today I am really feeling it!!! Monte Cristo- great job on getting the results done so promptly. I know the red team really appreciates it. Aclai- you will be running far in no time. I am sure your endurance is building everytime you run. Kepp up the good work!!! Igetfit- Thank you for the reminders. It seems like everyweek each team looses some members. It happened that way last challenge too. Sunnigummi- I find that not weighing everyday helps me. Weight fluctuates so much it can really drive you crazy, well it certainly drive sme crazy that is. MonteCristo 10-20-2009, 10:37 AM Okay, just for comparison I ran through Blue Team's numbers and came up with 0.15% loss for the week, which is very good (Congrats Blue Team!), but it just isn't good enought to beat Red Team, as we had a smokin' 0.38!! Way to go!! :cheer2: Ms Perception 10-20-2009, 10:55 AM Yay! Go Red Team!! Another weigh-in victory in the bag. MonteCristo-Thanks SO much for the quick results. I know I'm basically thrilled with my progress and I LOVE seeing my teammates do well also! jessicado-AWESOME job being biggest loser again!! I'm not too far behind, but that just means I'm eating your dust! LOL Keep up the awesome job. Mommyofsix-Ahh, lunges. They are quite the workout. It's amazing how something so simple can really make your body work (and give you a nice butt!). I keep telling myself once I get to goal I will add more lunges and squats to get my hiney in shape, but I really like my routine now, so I'm not changing it until goal. Also, have fun with the stroller! I'd considered getting one, but with the snow fall we're bound to have it's not like I could run with it half the days during winter. I guess it's still getting up before the family to run here. Well, the foot feels a touch better today, even after my run and strength training. I'm not doing anything extra like I normally would to increase my workout minutes, but for now I'm taking it "easy". The REALLY great news is...I am HEALTHY!!! That's right, I hit 141.0 on the nose today which puts me in the "healthy" category on my BMI chart (though apparently I need .2 more on my ticker one:()! Yay! I'm waiting to make sure it continues to drop tomorrow, but it really should since I'm OP and exercising. I guess my new plan of pre-planning all my meals to make sure I eat all my cals is working. Today is my first real day off in a while and it is cold and foggy...but I'll find something to do with it. I'm really trying to focus and re-evaluate my goals today, something I've been wanting to do for a while but just haven't had the time. I am such a stink'n perfectionist I always set-up goals and if I get off track I self-destruct. Nonetheless, I am going to give it a try today and see if I can't find some kind of plan that will help me to balance both my need to push myself and the inevitable reality that I will be off track at some point. I've done this before right? Ms. Vegan- Zumba (at least in my experience) is an extreamly low-pressure class and would be a great sayway into group exercise. Besides...it really is a lot of fun! rosetta 10-20-2009, 02:42 PM hi everybody hope u are all hale n hearty ...........well last couple of weeks i couldnt get any exercise but now im back on track ..........have to take my daughter to preschool which is about 25 mins walk from our house so i get 50 mins of walk roundway..............hopefully ill see some good loss by the end of this week good luck everyone tinabinab 10-20-2009, 03:23 PM Igetfitandstrong - Thanks for keeping us all on track! Life gets in the way of 3FC sometimes, but I appreciate the little nudges to bring us all back to the team. :D MommyofSix - Great job on those lunges. I've been avoiding them like the H1N1, but I know I need to work them in at some point. :) ...and don't feel bad about the cake. Life includes cake at one point or another and it sounds like you did a great job at having just enough to satisfy the urge and moved on. Bravo! Jessicado - Congrats on another great week!!! You're doing so awesome! Ms Perception - Congrats on reaching healthy!!! That is such a huge milestone! SimpleRhythm - I struggle with the perfectionist "all or nothing" mindset too. I've learned that when I stumble I have to FORGIVE MYSELF and move on. Yes, I could self-destruct and quit, but that only takes me further away from what I want. You can do it, you've already come so far! MonteCristo - Wow, you are fast! Thanks for posting results already! You rock! Rosetta - 50 minutes of walking a day is a great way to get back in the swing of things! Good job! KimL1214 10-20-2009, 04:40 PM Ms Perception~ I would just keep going, but definitely get it checked out. Maybe your doctor can suggest some stretches or PT you could do to improve how it feels. Congratulations on your BMI!!! That is a HUGE milestone!!! Mommyofsix~ I know how you feel with the cold throwing you off! I need to get back on top of exercising as well! I tried running with my friend once, and I remember being exhausted after I ran only a mile pushing her daughter’s stroller, that is super tough, Way to Go! Sunnigummi~ That is an awesome image to keep! shan84, dcapulet, Nicki54~ Luckybustert~ 13.6lbs. for this challenge alone is AWESOME! I agree with Ms Perception, as long as it is something you can do forever and not hurt your body in the process, then keep going! tinabinab~ Congrats on 4 lbs.!!! SimpleRhythm~ I’m planning on trying Zumba next week! MrsVegan00~ I’m also a big fan of anything that makes me sweat! shea5~ Keep your chin up! cakses~ What’s going on? Everything okay? IgetfitNStrongforme~ Thank you for the positive vibes! MonteCristo~ QOTDs are awesome conversation starters, thank you for posting them! Also, thank you for posting the results on the chat thread so we could see them before the end of the week! rosetta~ How was your walk this today? Congratulations to our Biggest Loser jessicado22! Also congrats to our runner-ups: tinabinab, Aclai4067, Luckybustert! Great job EVERYONE, 30.6 lbs. lost is AMAZING!!! Sorry to hear about all those that were eliminated :( Monday Discussion Question~ I would have to say that running makes me feel the best about myself because I know what a challenge it is for me to do as well as how great a running high feels afterwards. Unfortunately I may not make it back on this week as we have a short school week and I have still yet to get a computer. I was thinking about going and looking more for one tonight, but my cold has graduated to a sinus infection which is accompanied by an inner ear infection… so I’m thinking a nap would be better. I have to work both jobs tomorrow and won’t have enough time between school and the restaurant to get on here. SO… Everyone have a wonderful OP week and I will do my best to try and get to a computer at some point later in the week. Congratulations to everyone as WE ROCK!!! Ladybug2680 10-20-2009, 05:43 PM I have definitely not been participating like I should. I'm struggling a little, but realize I need to get back on the wagon and be part of the "team". Even though I've had a bad day I won't let it ruin my week. I'll be back on track tomorrow morning and I plan on adding exercise in. Gotta do something or I'm gonna be in trouble. MonteCristo 10-20-2009, 07:53 PM I am thrilled with all the participation in the discussion question. I think that a question each day might be a bit too much, because we don't want people to feel like they've fallen behind if they can't log in every day, but I do want to make it a regular feature. I was thinking of having them either MWF, or MTh. What do you think? IgetfitNStrongforme 10-20-2009, 08:13 PM I am thrilled with all the participation in the discussion question. I think that a question each day might be a bit too much, because we don't want people to feel like they've fallen behind if they can't log in every day, but I do want to make it a regular feature. I was thinking of having them either MWF, or MTh. What do you think? For me it will be everyday as I need the accountability. I tend to overeat and make excuses for myself. But here I know that I am supported and will be held accountable and so far it's the only thing that has keep me in check for the most part, it's coming here everyday and posting my exercise, food and when I fall. It's my commitment to myself that I am worth it to spend 15-20 posting my exercise, food and connecting with others on the same path. I may not be able to read every post and do personals everyday but connecting and being accountability is an important part of my continued success. Sunnigummi 10-20-2009, 09:44 PM I'm cool with whenever. Whatever's less work for you really. :) I've made it a habit of checking in here when I check in on the weight loss support threads so I'll answer. If not, IGetFit will kick my butt. ;) (I keed, I keed, not meant in a mean way at all! :)) So today marks my third day of continuous exercise. I didn't jog today, figured I'd give myself a break because I was going to tackle 30DS today. I walked 3.4 miles in just over an hour (1:05). Mr. Sunni was huffing and puffing to keep up. I think he's been a lump for too many hours today (he has never had a weight problem) so he was just tired and not mentally into it. Usually, I'm the one half jogging to keep up with him because his strides are so long! :dizzy: I came back and played the 30DS program. Got done with the warmup before I started feeling so hungry I figured I'd have dinner, rest and get back to it. I still haven't gotten back to it. I think I'm afraid of her workout... Ok ok, tomorrow morning. I can do it indoors so need to worry about cold weather and I can do it in my pjs. Alright, that's the plan. Food today was good. I had another chip attack. We bought this bag of Terra chips (those colorful chips, red, yellow, blue and white stripes) at Costco and we've both been munching on them since Sunday. Sigh. We used to buy pita chips which I avoided just because they were too thick a chip (sounds weird but it took all the fun out of eating chips). This is a big temptation. Although when I calculated out the calories for this and the rest of the food I ate, not only do I have a 200 cal difference between activities and food, I also ate within my range!! :cheer2: YAY! This is the first day in...geez weeks??? that I've been within my range. :carrot: for me! This is very excited. I feel my determination making a reappearance which is good. In the past, I'd get into these weight loss spurts and then just give up about 2 months in (coincidentally when I lost 5-6 lbs and felt happy about it) and then be a lump until I gained it back and start all over again. I realized that the last two weeks would have marked 2 months since I began this journey seriously (Aug 6, '09). That explains why I wasn't interested in counting calories or watching portions or exercising. I got to 155 and just figured "good enough," completely forgetting about my 145 goal. Le sigh. Just one of those things you learn about yourself, huh? :) How's everyone else's week going? to all! Cape Breton Chick 10-20-2009, 09:48 PM Hey Everyone.. been a hectic two days... am loving seeing everyone posting when i pop in.. and Monto .. you rawk! thanks for posting the results and the discussion starters.. I got in a 35min walk/run tonight.. hoping for nice enough weather to get out and do it again tomorrow evening too. I'll go back and catch up later. I've been really tired the last couple days but I managed to drag myself to the gym today. It was rough, the whole time I was running i felt like a had boulders tied to my feet! But got it done. And I'm a runner up this week, wahoo! Congrats to jesssicado and to the other runner ups! JasonsLea 10-21-2009, 12:53 AM  girls! I hope you all are doing great. Sorry I've been MIA. Working two jobs has fried my brain, my days are running together! :dizzy: Oddly, even though I'm totally sleep deprived, my intake has been very good. SP says that I've gone over my calories but most of it is rather healthy, hardly any junk so I don't care. Tomorrow should be my last day working at the VA. I'm slightly pensive but elated! :D This is like a whole new chapter of my life about to be opened. I can do this! :goodvibes Cape Breton Chick 10-21-2009, 07:06 AM Morning Everyone... just wanted to pop in and say g'morning and congratulate all of you biggesr losers this week!!! :yay: I hope everyone has a great day today!!! :grouphug: shan84 10-21-2009, 07:33 AM Hello everyone. Just got home from teaching my adult class. Today was a good day here in SK. TOM has arrived but I'm doing good so far. Only 2 more working days left of the week. Woohoo! Haha. I did want to share something I find incredibily exciting. So I have shared with some of you that I work in South Korea at an English Village. Which is basically a school where students visit for 2 day or 3 day programs. It is a tool used to introduce students to learning English and give them real life situations. So we have classes like cooking, science, magic, airplane, restaurant, math, hotel, bank, etc. Well, we had our teachers meeting today to select what classes we will be teaching next month.....and.....I will either be teaching yoga (MTW) and music (TTH), or cooking (pizza toast and cookies) (M-F). Now, I would love to do the yoga because I would basically be exercising all day long for the month of November. But, if I get cooking instead I think it would be fun because I know I can control any craving I would have to want to eat the food. How do I know this? Because 1) I taught in math class next door to cooking class and smelled the food all day long for months and never had any, and 2) because I control what goes in my mouth. So yeah, I'm super excited of the possibility of teaching a yoga class 8 hours a day, M-W for the month of November. Sorry just realized I'm being repetititve but I am SO SO SO excited! Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday. It's sleep time for me. :) XOXO MonteCristo 10-21-2009, 09:33 AM So yeah, I'm super excited of the possibility of teaching a yoga class 8 hours a day, M-W for the month of November. IgetfitNStrongforme 10-22-2009, 02:58 PM Hey Everyone.. G'morning! I hope everyone is doing great today.. I just wanted to pop in before I head out to work for the day to say hey. :yay: IgetFit on the 4pnd tom loss!! I was down .6 of a pound yesterday and was excited lol haha :D I pray that God blesses each of your days with a smile and something to be proud of yourself about... :grouphug: Oh a week before TOM and until the progesterone is released in my body to shead the lining of my uterus I am a puffy girl indeed. I was having water retention big time this month, and any salt I ate just made it worse, but once the progesterone part of my cycle is released, I shred all the excess water and the Dandelion Tea does help as well. You are doing great .6 lbs is wonderful! :woohoo: Yeah I read that in the news yesterday that Jillian Michaels has some new show, it looks an awful like the British version of You Are What You Eat with Gillian McKeith. I would much rather have her radio show back which I loved, so sad she stopped it. I highy doubt I will tune in to her new tv show. sweetandspicy 10-22-2009, 05:06 PM The show title I think is getting fit with Jillian Michaels, she moves in with your family and teaches health/fittness ect. from my understanding. They are casting right now. Cape Breton Chick 10-22-2009, 06:59 PM LOl Shea... no worries.. I get on the scale every day! I found out something odd to me today.. lol I am at my lowest (actual weight) mid day rather then in the morning, like I have been thinking was the right way all along. I guess it just goes to show that everyone is different.. this is the third day in a row that I am .5pounds lighter at noonish.. so am thinking it is safe to say this is "my time" to weigh in. It has been a stressful week for me. Most of you know I am far away from family and friends here. Well, my grandmother (mom's mom) has been in the hospital the past two days. It's been really hard and stressful knowing I am so far away and there is nothing I can do to help. Plus, the 16 hour time difference hasn't been helping at all. I'm lacking on sleep because I talk on the phone to everyone in my family trying to find out up to date information on what is going on. Anyways, if your into praying, she would definitely use your prayers. She is very fragile and they don't know exactly what's wrong with her. They did 3 different tests today along with a small colonoscopy. They did 3 biopsy's on something they pulled from her stomach. Her stomach was also full of yellow bile, so the doctor suctioned all of it out for now. Hoping it doesn't reaccure. She's supposed to be in the hospital another day or two. Then she has to recover at home and wait for biopsy results next week. Hope everyone has a good end to the week and a great weekend. Nothing much planned here for this weekend except getting in some much needed rest. Cape Breton Chick 10-22-2009, 09:09 PM  shan! I will definately be praying for your grandmother, for you and your family! IgetfitNStrongforme 10-22-2009, 09:26 PM Shan, I will be praying for you, your family and your Grandma. That sounds like a good plan, get some sleep Hun. We will be here if you need to talk. MonteCristo 10-23-2009, 09:16 AM Friday Discussion Question What weight loss tip has helped you the most? sweetandspicy 10-23-2009, 09:34 AM What weight loss tip has helped you the most? Eating smaller meals thoughout the day. In the past as I have dieted most of my life I always thought snacks were my down fall. I would eat 3 meals and suffer/starve the rest of the day and of course not loose any weight. Once I realized that as long as I make good snack choices( or actually eat 5 small meals) I am not hungry all the time, eat less, stay within my calories and seem to stick to my plan better. I am anxious to hear everyones response as I always need constant motivation to stay on plan. Today is my best work friends birthday and I will not will not will not eat cake!!! We also have a going away party this afternoon and I may just not go to resist food temptations. Everything is going well this week, I have exercised 3 days so far which is really great for me and I have eaten ok for the most part. I am looking forward to a productive weekend. shan84 10-23-2009, 09:53 AM The greatest weight loss tip that I try to remember everyday is: "It's not going to happen overnight". Even though its hard sometimes to view things optimistically, I just feel like every time I step on the scale for a weigh in I have high expectations. I know someday I'm going to stop pulling the numbers I have been recently. But, I know I will just have to remember its one day at a time. I'm truly living my life that way. That's why having this challenge and this forum is so vital to my own progress. I can't lose 200lbs overnight. But, I can have daily accountability for my food intake and exercise. I also know I have people I can turn to who understand what I am going through and can relate. So, on that note: THANK YOU RED TEAM!! FYI- I was just able to watch BL from this past week. Everything that Daniel said during his epiphany really hit home for me. I think that I have thought those same things about my own mother. Why can't she just accept me for me? Well, again, just another reason I love this show because they help real people at the ranch and people at home like me watching on tv. Ms Perception 10-23-2009, 10:30 AM What weight loss tip has helped you the most? I think the tip that has helped the most recently is to pre-plan all my meals, writing it all down with cals and all, so I don't make food decisions while I'm hungry or in a hurry. I just eat what I've planned and then I know I'm OP with cals. Plus when I plan, I take the time to work in the fruits and veggies, protein, etc. So I meet my nutritional needs. The loophole is eating out, which I did last night. I know I was within my cals, since I pre-chose my food before I went, but I forgot to factor in the sodium content of my food. I am up over a pound today due to TOM coming yesterday and not drinking enough to counteract the salt I ate last night. I expect it to be gone tomorrow, but it was an eye-opener today, let me tell ya! IgetfitNStrongforme 10-23-2009, 03:24 PM Good Morning everyone I hope you all have had a great week so far, I am just kicking back doing nothing on my day off. Being a full time NERD, I love tips and I try to use all of the ones below, because I believe in a cumulative effect. Here are just twelve I try to follow, though I have few more. LOL! Knowledge is power and the more I read about health and weight loss the more empowered I have become to take control of my health and life. 1. Don’t eat past 6:00 PM. 2. Drink 5 cups of green tea (studies show it can shrink your waist by 5% in 3 months.) 3. Automate your meals, less decision means you’re less likely to cheat. 4. I take one aspirin and drink a cup of Organic coffee before I workout it’s suppose to up fat burn according to Jillian Michaels. 5. Walk at least 30 minutes everyday or for me I ride my stationary bike. 6. I eat a very clean diet all Organic (nothing processed), again another Jillian Michaels tip, and she talks about this in her book Master Your Metabolism. 7. Eat 2 tsp of Safflower oil. (Studies show it can reduce belly fat by up 6% in 16 weeks and will continue to reduce belly fat as long as you eat it.) 8. Get 8 hours a sleep a night. (Studies show people who do weigh less.) 9. Always carry snacks with you, so in case you get hungry you have a healthy snack to eat. 10. I drink 2 cups of ice cold water twice a day. (Studies show it boasts your metabolism by 30% for 90 minutes after drinking.) 11. This rule I live by and because I have I believe it's the reason I have no sagging skin. I want to only lose no more then 2 lbs a week. I have lost over a hundred pounds and I have no sagging skin. I had read a study that was done about this and it worked for me. So although I really would like to lose like on TBL I realize it's better for my body. 12. Eat ¼-1 tsp of cinnamon a day. Cinnamon Benefits Include Lowering Cholesterol Naturally Posted by JE Jones on Jul-26-2009 The health benefits of cinnamon include lowering cholesterol naturally, helping to regulate blood sugar and boosting metabolism! Recent studies show that adding as little as ¼ tsp of cinnamon per day to your diet will lower cholesterol naturally. It can also help enhance the effectiveness of insulin in people with Type II diabetes, reducing blood sugar levels. In this recent study, LDL (the bad) cholesterol was lowered by 7 to 27 percent. People, who took more cinnamon daily, up to 1 and 3/4 teaspoons daily for 6 weeks, reduced their triglyceride levels up to 30% the triglycerides are the fats in our blood. Here are a few other benefits of cinnamon: •Cinnamon benefits the immune system with the antioxidants it contains. Cinnamon also contains manganese, fiber and calcium. •Cinnamon is an anti-blood clotting and anti-inflammatory food. Inflammation is one of the causes of disease such as arthritis and heart disease. •Cinnamon benefits Candida yeast overgrowth with its anti-microbial effects which stop the growth of fungi and bacteria MonteCristo 10-23-2009, 04:08 PM Wow, that is a lot of tips! No wonder you are doing so well. :D My two favorite are (1) drink lots of water and (2) this won't happen over night. If somebody had told me when I started losing weight that after 2 years I'd still have 25lbs to lose I would probably never started at all. But slow and steady is really working for me, and I can't even begin to describe how happy I am with my progress so far. Aclai4067 10-23-2009, 06:56 PM Weight Loss Tip that's Helped the Most- "It's about persistence not perfection" I used to be the queen of the "oh well I messed up so I might as well eat whatever I want now and I'll start over tomorrow/monday/next semester/next decade." Now when I mess up, I start over immediately. No sense in compounding a mistake. Losing4another 10-23-2009, 10:16 PM I would say writing everything down as well. If you go over in calories you know it right away. There is less question as to why your not losing/gaining. I also like to go back and read my progress...or lack of  Bette k 10-24-2009, 01:19 AM Hi Red Team, Hope everyone has had a great week. I've had a little one with the flu this past week, she's lots better now, but still has a bit of cough and a mountain of homework to get through. Right now I would love to just run away and hide for a day where no one can find me, but it isn't going to happen. What weight loss tip has helped you the most? I think the thing that helps me the most is the knowledge that while losing 100 lbs is really hard, I can lose 10 lbs pretty easy and I can do that 10 times. IgetfitNStrongforme 10-24-2009, 03:12 AM HI RED TEAM! SATURDAY IS HERE, SO I JUST WANTED TO REMIND EVERYONE TO POST YOUR WEIGHT ON TIME, BECAUSE IF YOU DON'T AND HAVE USED ALL YOUR FREEBIE'S YOU WILL BE ELIMANATED. The date in parentheses is the last date to post your weigh-in, which is due on Mondays by 11:59 EST. That's EASTERN. Same time zone as New York. If you aren't sure what time that translates to where you are, check this page: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/ shan84 10-24-2009, 03:38 AM Hope everyone has a good weekend. It's Saturday afternoon here in SK. I have had myself a nice lazy day off at home. I really needed it with all the stress and emotions from this past week. My grandmother is now home from the hospital and resting at home. My mom is taking care of her tomorrow. Thank you for the prayers. We don't find out the results from the autopsy until next week sometime. My weigh in is tomorrow morning. Not sure what kind of number to be looking for. It's been TOM this week and usually I can still lose during that week. But, I fell off plan a little today with eating some chocolate I shouldn't have indulged in. I'm going to get a last chance workout in this afternoon and spend a quiet night at home. I'll drop in tomorrow morning with my weigh in for the week. Cape Breton Chick 10-24-2009, 07:34 AM Hey ladies... it's the weekend yay.. lol now I get to work at cleaning my house... lol The weight-loss tip that has helped me the most...? Well I would have to say that since learning for myself that not everything works for everyone.. you have to take control and find what works .. truly works for you. Drinking water for me is key. I track my calories... keeping track of everything I eat makes it easy for me to stay accountable. Also I get on the scale daily..that keeps me really accountable and motivated. Hope everyone has a nice weekend!! Cape Breton Chick 10-24-2009, 10:17 AM :welcome3: ArmyWife.. Jump right in where and whenever you like! Glad to have you join us as an "unoffical" team member.. :yay: but just want to say that anyone who is "unoffical" is only that as far as weight in counting towards percentages.. and really that is just a side bar here.. we are all in this together!!! And being a support for one another to do what ever it is we each need to get done, is the most important reason we are all here... CanadaMel 10-24-2009, 01:11 PM Hello ladies- I've been MIA & not a good teammate after our thanksgiving trip to CA which was wonderful we were exhausted (4d of driving for a 3d visit). Add computer issues on top of that & that is the end of my excuses! Weight loss is holding steady- might be posting a gain this week. Used a freebie last week due to holiday gain & TOM Still hitting 12-15,000 steps a day on my pedometer but my running has dropped off once again, so I need to get my butt back in gear (note to self!) it's snowing like a banshee here so I think it's an indoor chore day haves great Saturday everyone! Aclai4067 10-24-2009, 03:02 PM Hey ladies. Well I started the week strong, then caught the lazy bug and it shows. Only lost 0.8 lbs this week. Any loss is moving in the right direction but I REALLY wanted to get under 250 this week and I was 0.1 lb shy! So I need to get back to work. I'll be there next week for sure. That's awesome ;) Thanks for the welcome ;) I was Red team last fall - during my first TBL challenge on this forum and was the first season of the show I ever watched...and I'm hooked. I love that I'm watching my 3rd season :) It's so motivational. I enjoy the support and giving support to others, plus being accountable to a team of ppl (even unofficially) is a great help to me. I hope this is just what I needed to get my butt back into gear and lose the weight that I regained after hubby deployed. I've been so busy and too tired to workout, but i'm not letting that be an excuse anymore! I have roughly 3 months till hubby gets home, and want him to come home to wife he left in Feb - not the person I am now. I know if i stick to watching my calories and get my daily workouts in every day - i can do this :) Ms Perception 10-24-2009, 11:30 PM Just wanted to post a quick "hello". I've had a nice relaxing weekend which has involved no time online. Glad to have ya with us, ArmyWife. Hope you and all our RED ladies are having a terrific weekend! Don't forget to post weight! IgetfitNStrongforme 10-25-2009, 12:41 AM I have lost 4.2 lbs, this week!!!! IgetfitNStrongforme 10-25-2009, 02:56 AM Thanks Shan & ArmyWife, it feels good after last week of going up 4 lbs, then losing that after my tea mixture kicked in and now my true weight loss from last week and this week shows. I am making a vow to myself to never abuse my body again by not exercising and eating crap. I had bought a bag of chips today but throw them down the drain when I realized I was self sabotaging. I'm going to concentrate on making myself happy, whatever that means. Sometimes it’s harder to walk away but it’s the best thing in the end. In case you wanted to know, Christmas is coming so I felt like a more festive avaitar. :D shan84 10-25-2009, 06:19 AM I love the new picture IGetFit. Christmas is my favorite time of the year, and its a little sad thinking of how different it's going to be this year. I've been away from my family on Christmas before, but never away from the states, away from church, away from all things festive that make Christmas, well Christmas. So I have come up with an idea for anyone interested in participating please just send me a pm. I know that I might be slightly depressed come the Christmas season so I want to stop it before it starts by doing a Christmas card exchange with all of you from around the states and world. So how does it work? Simple. PM me for my mailing address and send me yours. I'll send you a Christmas card all the way from South Korea and you can send me one. What do you think? Anyone interested?? Also, on a side note many of you know our challenge ends on December 14th. That also happens to be the week of my vacation for this year and since I'm doing so well on the challenge I have decided to treat myself with a huge reward this year. I will be traveling from here in South Korea to Japan for my holiday!! So excited! Cape Breton Chick 10-25-2009, 08:17 AM Shan! that is an incredible idea!!! and woo hoo on Japan...am excited for you! IgetfitNStrongforme 10-25-2009, 02:11 PM That's a great idea Shan, I hope you have a wonderful time. I myself am on vacation for the next 3 weeks, so I won't be around to post. So don't worry I won't be using all my freebies. I hope everyone stays the course and see you in a few weeks. :D MonteCristo 10-25-2009, 04:47 PM I've just posted the exercise challenge for week 7, so you guys need to head on over and get signed up! We had pretty good participation last week, but I know we can do even better. I woudl really (really, really) like to see 100% participation. Please don't disappoint me! ;) Ladybug2680 10-25-2009, 05:59 PM Congrats to everyone who has lost. It's been quite hectic around here. I'm in my last class for my Masters degree and all my work has to be turned in by Wednesday. I'm a little overwhelmed to say the least and when that happens I tend to self sabotage. Hoping to stay the course and in the long run make the right choices. Weigh in day is tomorrow. tinabinab 10-25-2009, 08:35 PM Hiya all! Just wrapping up a very busy weekend. Two birthday parties and one "adult" party. I'd saved up points and planned for these, but I'm still feeling like the scale is going to suffer in the morning. I also wrapped up my weekly goal for the Week 6 10% challenge, so hopefully the good will help to balance out things. :) Hope everyone had a good weekend! Week 7, here we come! JasonsLea 10-25-2009, 08:41 PM  girls! Just got back in from taking Pullo on his first walk beyond the apartment complex. It went rather well. WI was today and I'm down 4.4 lbs! Don't ask me how I did that, I don't know! :dizzy: One more week till Halloween, I would need to lose 4.8 lbs to make my goal but that is next to impossible. If I lose another 2 lbs, I'll be elated cause that's the closest I've been to reaching a challenge goal in ......forever! :D I need to study for my test tomorrow, please send good thoughts my way so I can catch on to this new job quickly! It's the end of the month so I need to start making goals for November. They will include a gym schedule since I'm only working one job again. :lifter: Peace. :grouphug: ArmyWife02 10-25-2009, 08:49 PM good luck to those taking classes or tests this week. and good luck to everyone for the WI tomorrow - and WTG to all those who have lost this week ;) I'm cleaning out my house this week (decluttering lots of papers, mainly - and toys) LOL :) I can't wait to see the exercise challenge and jump right in - i didnt come in in time to try the last one ;) RangerChic 10-25-2009, 08:50 PM Hey team, sorry for the lack of posts...I got sick this week and ended up in the e.r. Tuesday night. Thankfully, it wasn't anything acute, but we still don't know what it is. Seems to be a G.I. deal, so going to see a specialist the first week of next month. Anyway, just wanted to pop in and say that yes, I was still here. Hope you all are doing well! Ms Perception 10-25-2009, 09:21 PM Hey girls! Having a good relaxing weekend, though i did get a 6 mile run in this morning which felt great. Otherwise, we took the kids to the pumpkin patch today and had fun, though the weather wasn't perfect. Hope you all are enjoying good weekends! Weigh-in tomorrow if you haven't already. I'm hoping the scale will cooperate in the morning so I have good numbers to post!! RangerChic-Yikes! Take care of yourself and feel better soon! Bette k 10-26-2009, 12:12 AM Hi Red Team, I hope everyone has had a great weekend. It's good to see so many having good losses. I am holding steady this week, too much stress in my life to work on it now, just feel like running away for a few days, but it won't happen. Army wife, so good to see you back, I don't know if you remember me, but I really loved your posts last spring. Rangerchic: feel better soon. Ladybug: Congrats on the Masters Shan: Japan sounds like so much fun. Everyone else have a great week and keep posting, even when I can't answer I try to read the posts several times during the week.
