I'm starting week 5 of my Transitions program and I'm REALLLLLY craving something crunchy.

We can't have potatoes so of course chips are out, they would be out anyway because they're gross...

I feel like all I want is a cracker, with peanut butter! OR some cereal! or anything! haha. I wont do it but man I would love to find a healthy alternative

any ideas?

has anyone tried those puffed veggie chips?

Not sure what the Transitions program details are. Can you have whole grains? Popcorn is great in terms of crunch, and is a whole grain with plenty of fiber.

Otherwise, fruits and veggies can definitely have a LOT of crunch.

You can also do your own dehydrated fruits. My favorite are apple " chips ". I slice my apples as thin as I can and put them in the food dehydrator. Kinda trick my mind that I'm having something sinful lol.

Broccoli Slaw can be made by shredding broccoli and carrots/cabbage and either eating it plain or with a low-fat/low-cal dressing.

Broccoli Slaw is sold - pre-shredded in bags (http://www.broccoli.com/broc_cole.html). I actually like to eat it plain. I just pour it into a bowl and eat the shredded broccoli raw. It is crunchy and VLC.

Some FF ranch dip or yogurt or Laughing Cow would be good with it too - particularly the yogurt or LC - they would add some protein to the snack :D

I like to toast a Joseph's Pita bread (60 calories!), watching carefully because they burn in an instant if I look away; topped with either hummos or a very thin slice of cheddar and a few apple slices.

Roasted chick peas! Just rinse and drain canned chick peas, toss in some oil and seasoning if you want, and throw them in the oven at around 400 degrees, stirring occasionally until they're crunchy. Yum... now I'm craving those, haha.

oh my god! HA! THank you all so much these are all incredible Ideas! I heard about those roasted chick peas and now I'll definitely give them a shot!

On transitions we can't have alot of fruit so that's out but I can definitely try having some dried fruit for my 1 serving a day!

Also, we are nowin week 5 so I can have whole grains (1 per day) so the toasted pita sounds delicious!

Thank you all so much for these ideas, so helpful!!!

corn thins rock! they're made in australia but you can get them in specialty supermarkets in the usa. i'm not sure if they're available in other countries. 22 calories each. they always satisfy my crunch cravings.

I like the whole wheat pretzels from Trader Joe's. I enjoy them, but they don't whisper at me to come finish the whole bag. And they're really crunchy! I need a little crunch in my diet, and I've been happier since I realized it :).

I love to add a little crunch to my lunch salads. Like today - I added a very small portion of tortilla strips to my taco salad (40 calories of strips). Yum. I also like to add crunchy wonton strips to my Asian-themed salads. A little crunch goes a long way to increasing my salad enjoyment.
