Here's a place where we can toot our own horns about something positive that has happened in regards to weight loss, or maintenance, other than the reading on our scales. No victory is too small to share here, so please let us know about yours.

I made it through a family birthday dinner last night and stayed 100% OP. :)

I went shopping today and should have eaten before I went. Just before I came home I was so hungry but I passed up all the Halloween candy and chips and didn't buy or eat anything until I got home and made a good meal.

We went to GS's 18th birthday party last night. I brought a huge lettuce, tomato, crouton salad to share plus brought my own Fat Free Italian dressing. I only ate a couple of tiny croutons, had a very small piece of lasgagna (cheese, no meat in it) and 1/2 slice birthday cake. I had a large apple for lunch and saved my calories for birthday supper. After putting my food portions into Fitday, surprise, surprise, I hadn't gone over my 1200 calores. I was very happy about that.

I went to MIL's birthday party last night and didn't have cake or chips or pop or ice cream. I brought a fruit tray with yogurt to dip and that's what I had. And that cake and the beloved chips were calling me. :D

Had dinner at my Sister's Apartment, DH and I brought dinner, Pizza, boy did it smell good, but stuck to my decision had my big salad with ckn, no pizza or garlic knots, for me. To top that off, my sis had a lemon pie for dessert, but also said no to that, now if it was anything chocolate, might of given in for a taste. Best part, all the leftovers stayed at my sister's place, so no pizza calling to me, after my DH went to work tonight!!

retiredone-Yay that is awesome!!

Job well done, Institches. The smell of pizza would have done me in!

I had a victory last week that I forgot to mention. DD Mary and I went out to eat, and fries came with my turkey sandwich, but I didn't know that ahead of time. So when the waiter set my plate down and left, I took the lid off the pepper shaker and shook pepper on the fries. (the salt shaker lid was stuck shut) When there's a will, there's a way, right?

I went back to work this weekend, after being off for 2 months. On Saturday 2 of the nurses started "discussing" who made the best pie. So, both of them brought fresh homemade pie's in to work Sunday. AND, to add insult to injury, one of the aids brought in a bosx of those huge muffins from Sam's Club. I had 1/4 of a muffin for breakfast, and no, NO pie!!!

In my before days, I bought the double choc and blueberry, almost weekly, they are soooo good. That is great only 1/4 of a muffin, and no pie...Yay for you.

Went out to eat Sunday night and did not have the bread, I Love Homemade Bread, still warm from the oven with a hunk of butter. Looked up my choices on-line before we left, and decided what I was going to order, and did not sway from my choices, even though that bread was calling me, did not listen.

Hi Everyone. I'm over 50 and after checking out some posts I think I may be a bit more comfortable here. I did post elsewhere and joined challenges and met some great people but am wondering - after reading about period binging and boyfriends and office parties - if I belong there.
I work part time (20 hrs) in a school and have a private practice at home on Sundays and after school Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. I love my work and I usually love my family. Today I was not happy but I didn't turn to the food. I have been following the chicks site for two weeks and it has given me the courage and support to have two abstinent weeks. I don't be long to OA but I follow the Dignity of Choice food plan.
For today I will be happy :)

:bravo::cp: You are taking control, one day at a time!! Every day we have the chance to make good decisions. I'm happy to hear that you are doing so well. I post in the 50+ also, in the Golden Girls. Come on over and check us out.

My motto is: make it a good day. Because i think we have a choice. I'ts the way we look at life and the decisions we make. We can't controle what others do, but we can controle how we look at things and how we handle them.

Good luck. I wrote that and then I realized, that LUCK has very little to do with it.

These are all old posts, but I still want to put one out there. I am having such a hard time sticking to things, think the goals were too big, long term, for me anyway. I am a small goal person, when I have tried the big ones, well, just trying to start out exercising in small ways and my back then my knee acted up (too much I guess), so I have started just a few exercised for my gut, just a few at a time, increased a little over a week, and today, when I got up, instead of feeling like I have this watermelon like thing attached to my front, I feel a little stronger in that area. It feels like my middle is a part of me, if that makes sense, instead of this thing to carry around.

All of you ladies are awesome! Boy, I know how it is to go grocery shopping when I am hungry. And don't even mention Halloween candy.

I'm only 1.5 weeks in here, and not enough posts yet, to get a weight-loss tracker, so even though I'm weighing weekly at home (4 pounds down!), I thought I'd post my mini goal here is to get through the "newbie" period, so I can get my weight-loss ticker on this blog.

I am hungry a lot these days, whether it's literally because my body is adjusting to fewer calories and not the bad calories it was used to, and because I think it's kind of psychological. You know, getting used to feeing "deprived." So I'm thrilled I've lopped off almost 10 days of not blowing my diet. And yes, I'm going to use the word "diet." I said in another thread, it is too overwhelming for me to say I'm on a "lifestyle change." Besides, this blog IS titled "3FatChicksonaDiet," right?

Everyone here inspires me so much. Thank you!

Thank you, Jane! Your kind words are great.

You know, who ever thought up this 20-day diet-rite-of-passage for this forum knew what they were doing. It's truly a mini-goal to get to those 20 days and my weight-loss ticker/tracker!

I've read that a new habit needs around 21 days to take hold or take root. So it makes sense.

Have a wonderful Labor Day holiday weekend!

Hi,

I am also on a low carb, low fat diet, it is really helping me with my weight and cholesterol. I am 53 years old and had a hard time losing weight before I started the low carb, low fat diet. Now I am losing and really love it. I also moved to a little place in West Virginia, in the country from a city in Maryland and just love the country and the peace and quiet. Keep up the good work with your diet and enjoy the country.

Recognizing triggers, seems silly, but only recently have I come to accept how much food commercials have effected me. So, I started watching the food channel, loved the creativity involved in many of the foods/shows etc, and in some strange way made me more aware of food oriented commercials and how they triggered the desire for pleasure in both the eating, creativity, and social aspects of my thinking. Lots of good times in restaurants in the past, both as a patron and as an employee. Plus one night flipped between food shows and the "hoarders" show (I used to collect things too, but never as bad as those unfortunate unhappy people), and somehow the link between obsession (of any kind) and the search for happiness just clicked for me. I think it has given me new insight into my behaviors. I feel so fortunate!

My sons girlfriend came back from vacation and brought us some t-shirts. One xl and one L. It was obvious from the feminine design that the L was for me. Ouch, I wear an xl. Well, we're going to see her today so last night I tried on the L, thinking I'll squeeze myself into it. Maybe throw a sweater over it and it won't look too bad. Suffer through an evening and then never wear it again, right? Well, guess what? IT FITS! I mean it fits! WOW! I don't care if it shrinks after I wash it and I never get to wear it again. Right now it fits. And that has not happened in more years than I care to think about.

IT FITS!

Feb. 1st: NSV = wearing a thin cable-knit sweater all day and NOT ending up with a tummy crease in it from sitting down! I had put this sweater away b/c it ALWAYS showed my belly overhang at the waistline of my pants.

Feb. 1st: A Bad Thing: actively reached for and ate a Laura Secord French Chocolate Mint. Probably 5000 calories. I hope I walked it off after work!

Started low carb in January. This past week I got into two pair of jeans I haven't been able to get into in about a year. Back at a weight I was a year ago, and have slacked a bit this week, but am getting back on that horse, and in two months I swear those same jeans will be too loose.

Although the scale is slowing down and registered a 2-pound loss this morning, the tale-of-the tape tells me that I AM LOSING INCHES. I lost .5 inch from the area between my waist and breast-which I measure as that is where most fat goes once I am over a certain weight; .5 inch form the abdomen, which hasn't been moving (extra fat there) and a whopping 1.5 inches from mu waist this week. and it's wierd but apparently I dropped 3 inches from my calves, which explains why my shoes are a size too big, suddenly! I blame it all on healthy foods (and restricting processed carbs), Leslie Sansone's 1 mile walk and lifting 5 LBS weights for 10 minutes a day!

Tamsin78 - Your success proves that by reasonable means we CAN accomplish our goals. Good work!
NewCreation - Congrats on the new smaller size. Hand wash it until you are ready that you want it to shrink and you'll be able to enjoy it longer.
Gonnadoit and Potential - Doesn't it feel great to wear these olf favorites

Don't think I've posted here before. I have seen NSV before and didn't know what it meant! ;) But finally noticed this forum.

Yesterday my abs (well, they are in there somewhere!) were sore all day and I know it was from this weigh machine I used at the gym. So this morning I made sure I used it again today.

I am also doing better with my eating. Went over a little yesterday but the scale was kind and I actually dropped a little. Hopefully it won't pop up tomorrow as I am doing well today so far. And I'm seeing a little improvement in my bs.

I bought a pair of size 18 jeans in early May when they were on sale. They were too tight, but I knew I'd get into them eventually, and they aren't always on sale. Seemed like a good idea. I needed to wear then the other day and they were too big! Had to exchange for size 16!

I had been feeling utterly defeated because I had gained back 15 pounds over the last few months...it has been an incredibly stressful few months, and I eat for solace...some of you can relate. So, anyway, I got back on my exercise bike and rode a gentle half hour. I gave up for a period, but I am here to say that I am going to make a daily commitment to my health. Yesterday it was riding, today it is riding and drinking 8 cups of water.
