Good morning! I woke up to the rain beating against the windows, and it doesn't look like it's going to let up any time soon.
Monica and Carley came out last evening to spend the night, and as soon as everyone's ready, we're going out for breakfast and then up to Reading for some outlet shopping. I don't really need anything, but I may pick up some things for Christmas if I find some good sales.
Debbie, I hope all your bumps have smoothed themselves out!
Cyndi, sorry I missed the party last night. Jake, Monica and I made up a pot of hot spiced apple toddies and played Scopa until the wee hours. :)
10-17-2009, 07:49 AM
Good morning. We're cold again at about 24ºF but are supposed to "warm up" to 43º this afternoon. :sunny: Sunshine is still in the forecast which is a blessing.
If you hear creaking, it's my body. Wendy and I worked until after six last night and finished the flower bed. It looks just wonderful and I can hardly wait for Spring. :encore: Today I will plant several things along the foundations but the rest can wait to Spring. We planted about 300 bulbs in the new bed so there should be quite a display. It was hard work and fairly expensive but worth it. Wendy charges $25 per hour but works full speed the whole time and earns every penny.
I am supposed to go to a la-di-dah fundraising dinner at The Mill tonight but may opt out. They already have my $$$ for the ticket and I don't want to subject myself to a boring evening in an unheated old stone building with water running through it! I think it will be a nice at home evening with my book, a glass of wine, the woodstove and my darling doggies who are a bit needy this morning. (When I'm working outside they worry that I may leave in the car without them.)
Time for another coffee and a decent breakfast before I start the day. I hope your weekend starts off as well as mine is. :cofdate:
10-17-2009, 08:35 AM
Good morning :coffee2: I am so happy it's the weekend!
Cottage - Enjoy your shopping trip. There are so many outlet malls in NH but I just never make it to any of them. Thrift store shopping has made me extra cheap I guess ;)
Ruth - Wow, you've inspired me to get my butt into the garden today. With that stuff floating around yesterday I think my time is running out. A hot bath, wine and doggie time sounds like just the right ending to the last few days of yard work. I am so looking forward to pictures of your gardens in the spring :)
Today is our one nice day so it will be yard work for us. I want to put my gardens to bed, plant some garlic and get that new bed finished. Julie will mow/mulch leaves so I'll have plenty of material to layer on my beds. We really want to see Where the Wild Things Are but decided it's better to save that for the rainy day.
Of course I'm also planning to get stuff into the dehydrator (probably all apples now), pick more apples, and do the usual weekend stuff. Tomorrow afternoon will be for playing if I get everything done today, so incentive to keep moving.
Hope the sun shines at least a little where you are this weekend
10-17-2009, 08:51 AM
Good morning all!
Cottage - I keep telling myself I'm going to christmas shop early, and I keep failing. It's good to spread the expense out!
Ruth - OH! I can't wait to see pics in the spring! I keep thinking of planting bulbs at the new house, but I remember she had a lot coming up this past spring. Besides, there's SO much to do on the inside. My DD LOVES those flowers!
Cyndi - I'd be curious, how much food have you dried?!? You're a dehydrator queen!
Me - Have my new pup next to me :D. She's amazing, I think, for a 4 mo old pup. She did great yesterday with the pottying, but started to inside this am. To her credit, it was right after breakfast (although she had been out 15 min earlier), I joke she's from the DH's side of the family :D. She has the best little personality...I can't believe she was there 6 weeks before I took her home. Guess it was meant to be! We don't have a name picked out yet.
Is there anything else to plan, other than play with puppy!?!?
Have a great weekend, beachers!
and I forgot to mention...she slept in the crate ALL NIGHT w/o peeing!! YAY!! (and quietly...only whining when she heard DS awake)
10-17-2009, 09:14 AM
I have had to wake up my little guy every day this week. He slept till 7:15 and I went to his bedroom to get him up for school. Today, he woke me up at 6:30. He's not my favorite. ;)
Cottage, I'm going outlet shopping today, too. Yuck! I have to have pants for work. Wish me luck!
Ruth, I bet your beds are going to be beautiful in the spring. Would that be May?
Cyndi, After you see Wild Things, please let me know if you think Auston will like it. He screamed like a girl through Night at the Museum. :)
Twynn, Sparkit is an outside dog, but I would love for him to sleep in a crate in the living room on cold, wet nights. Do you think that's possible?
Me: Tonight is the Fall Festival at Auston's school. It should be a fun time. Jeff and I are working the booth for Auston's class for an hour. I'm looking forward to meeting other parents.
It's 46 degrees outside. Getting close to complaining... :) Jeff and I are going to cut more wood today. I really love a nice fire in the fireplace.
Hope you all have a great day.
10-17-2009, 09:22 AM
I'm in a rush, need to be on the road to Massachusetts by 8:30 this morning. I'm going to spend the day with my mom and dad.
Our router died the other night and as ridiculous as it sounds, I had NO time to go buy a new one til this morning. I can check email from school but all forums are blocked to keep the kids out of trouble. ;) I haven't had a chance to catch up on your posts yet - I just got home from WalMart and tried out the router by checking this site. :D Gotta log off and get going while my husband is still in a good mood. lol
I finished phase 1, I'm down 9 pounds exactly. I didn't have my steel cut oats this morning because we'll eat lunch at my mom's and I'm not sure what my options will be there. My dad is diabetic so they don't push candy or pastry, but they love their starches.
Have a great Saturday!
10-17-2009, 10:29 AM
Morning all...Happy Weekend!!!
The rain finally stopped and the cool weather has moved in. All my windows open last night and in my heavy robe this morning. I slept till almost 8! I never sleep past 5, so it was a shock and a treat.
Not sure what we are doing today. The weather is so great and it's so soggy still out in the yard after a month of rain that we may be digging up and moving stuff. In just a month, ferns have taken over in my rose garden and little bushes have shot up...so they gotta be moved. May go to a town close to here on the lake that is having an Octoberfest this afternoon.
10-17-2009, 11:05 AM
Good Morning Everyone:sunny:
I read everyones posts, but I'm running out the door so I just stopped for a quick . It's 45 degrees and sunny here.
We're taking the doggies for their walk, then to the pool for a soak and maybe a bit more exercise. Happy Saturday! See ya'll in a bit.
10-17-2009, 11:54 AM
rflolpimp! The Mill dinner was LAST night so I missed it anyhow! Sure is fun to be old and forgetful. I went to the local feed store for a few things this morning and then went to Cottage's favourite Eastern Ontario place (http://www.forfar.com/) and had a delicious coffee and read the paper. This is shaping up as a ME day and I may not lift a spoonful of earth until tomorrow in celebration.
10-17-2009, 12:15 PM
Happy weekend, ladies!
I'm still waking up... didn't get into bed til 2. NO idea why I woke up just after 9. UGH! Coffeeeeee!
Cottage: OOoh shopping. I wanna come! I get the bug to shop nearly every weekend. Even if I just go to a second hand place and spend 5 bucks it makes me happy lol Hope you have a good time!
Ruth: Sounds like you have a good start for your spring flowerbed! What is your favorite flower? Did you get to plant it?
Cyndi: I want to see that movie too! It looks so freakin cute! We have a movie theatre here that gets the new releases late and it's only 4$ to go so I will probably wait until it goes to that theatre. They also serve food and upscale beer and such. It's a fun time.. you can make a whole night of it. If you see it before I do, you'll have to give me your review!
Twynn: Do we get pics of the new pup? Are you looking for name suggestions? we could all help you out with that I'm sure! lol
Chelby: LOL isn't that the way it goes? When you have to be up, you wanna sleep. When you can sleep... something happens to get you up.
Heidi: Glad you got your internetz back up and runnin... and congo rats on your great job on phase 1!!! I bet that feels really good!
Femme: WOOHOO! Oktoberfesting is the bomb! lol well, at least here it is... Hope you get a chance to go have some fun!
Lexxiss: *waves* Have fun! Come back soon lol (and enjoy your sunny weather!)
So, I know I said last night we were going bowling (a change from karaoke) but when we got to the bowling alley there was league. Who has league on a Friday night when other people wanna go have fun!? So we threw some darts (cricket) and then dum dum dum... went to karaoke LOL
The crowd SUCKED. But at least my friends and I had a good time... if it hadn't been for us, there wouldn't have been much singing going on at that place last night. So we did all of our favs and then for some reason ended up makin it "dirty karaoke" night. Screw the crowd, we make our own fun! LOL
I've not been drinking due to SB so I was designated driver. Brought my roomies home about 1:15... completely hammered. Which was pretty funny since one roomie is a karaoke dj and doesn't usually get a chance to let loose and go see someone else's show.
I was so productive yesterday, I don't have much to do today. At this point, don't even have a plan for the evening, which is unlike me. I'm going to enjoy the relaxation and play things by ear.
By the way... I'm having my first Honeycrisp today :D
Happy on plan day, beachers!
10-17-2009, 12:15 PM
I would have been able to sleep in later if I had remembered to shut off Brian's alarm. He's with his Dad and I thought about it last night and then just forgot. I did have time to get a good walk in this morning with my neighbor and the dogs before my State Farm agent came to review my policies. I've been putzing around playing games on Facebook since then but I'll head out to Petsmart soon. I'm thinking of taking the dog to bathe him at the self-grooming place. He doesn't need it often but after all the rain he could sure use it.
10-17-2009, 12:21 PM
Hi ladies, Did great on day 1 yesterday and today is starting off well. We have a neighborhood party this afternoon, I think its going to be a challenge. But I'm up for it.
Chelby - your sons is like by DD. Will sleep after 7 during the week, but was in our bed at 6am today. Not fun.
Have a good day everyone!
10-17-2009, 01:09 PM
I am starting out late I slept till 9:30 a.m.:fr: I have been oncall this week and have been woke up everynight this week, so I guess I needed to catch up on sleep.
So many activities to do today and this has put me behind. Fall festival in town plus at the Air Force base, DD2 has a soccer game at 1 p.m. and we are going to take her to see Where the Wild Things Are. I hope she does okay with it. DD1 definitely wants to go that was her favourite book when she was little.
Have a great day everyone and if you have sun enjoy, we are supposed to get our sun tomorrow.
10-17-2009, 03:08 PM
Ruth, I'm glad you thought of me while you were at Forfar's. I'm really hoping you can bring some of their wonderful cheese when you come for Thanksgiving. ;)
They had some great sales at the outlets, but my "find" of the day was Lee jeans that regularly sell for $40, marked down to only $9.99, and they had them in petite! Whoohoo!
10-17-2009, 05:47 PM
It was a beautiful day for our walk and the pool was heavenly.
Cottage, glad to hear your shopping was successful.
Ruth, hope you've been enjoying your "ME" day.
Cyndi, hope your chores are almost done so you can go have fun tomorrow. I've been meaning to ask if "Gardenburgers" are SB friendly?
Twynn, glad you didn't have to work so you and the pup could bond.
Chelby, how was the Fall Festival-give a report.
Heidi, hope your visit was nice. I'm glad you're back online.
Cat, hope you made it to Octoberfest. It sure sounded fun.
Gothik, I'm always glad to hear you're out having fun and staying OP. How was that apple?
Barb, I hope your insurance has gotten figured out. I need to look into some different health insurance. Your gym stories motivated me-I'm meeting a PT on Monday.
Paula, glad you're joining in on the daily thread. Hope your party didn't include too many :censored: foods.
Pearlrose, I'm glad you slept in. Your weekends are always sooooooo busy!
Sophie, did you get the fridge yet? I'm knitting this afternoon after I finish prepping next weeks' food.
OK, back to food prep-knitting is calling....
10-17-2009, 06:28 PM
Still enjoying my Me Day, Debbie. Thanks for asking.
We don't have gardenburgers around ehre but I googled and here are the ingredients:
VEGETABLES (BUTTON MUSHROOMS, ONIONS, CRIMINI MUSHROOMS, PORTABELLA MUSHROOMS), COOKED BROWN RICE (BROWN RICE, WATER), ROLLED OATS, MOZZARELLA CHEESE (PASTEURIZED PART-SKIM MILK, CULTURES, SALT, ENZYMES), WATER, BULGUR WITH WATER FOR HYDRATION, PARSLEY, CHEDDAR CHEESE (PASTEURIZED MILK, SALT, ENZYMES, CULTURES, ANNATTO FOR COLOR), CONTAINS TWO PERCENT OR LESS OF YEAST EXTRACT, NATURAL FLAVOR, MODIFIED VEGETABLE GUM, SALT, MUSHROOM EXTRACT, GARLIC POWDER, AUTOLYZED YEAST EXTRACT, SPICES, CITRIC ACID, MALTED BARLEY, NATURAL BUTTER FLAVOR, WHEY, DEHYDRATED ONION, ANNATTO FOR COLOR, DEHYDRATED MUSHROOMS, GUAR GUM, NATURAL SMOKE FLAVOR, TURMERIC FOR COLOR, SOY LECITHIN.
They look Phase II OK to me.
10-17-2009, 06:44 PM
yes, that Honeycrisp was good! And after, I promptly licked a tbsp of natural pb. lol
I was so good last night... pizza and drinks and deep fried everything comin out my ears and I did not indulge. I will say here as I said once in the phase 1 thread... "I have discipline, yes I do! I have discipline, how bout you?" :cheer2:
Auston lost his first tooth this morning. Check out his sweet face! :)
He has asked me no fewer than 38 times if it is time to put on his costume for tonight's fall festival. Sheesh!!!
Gothik, I'm living vicariously through you... :D
10-17-2009, 08:09 PM
Too cute, Chelby. Now let's hope the T-Fairy remembers. What's the going rate for teeth these days?
10-17-2009, 09:43 PM
Very cute, Chelby.
Thanks, Ruth, for googling. We have a great sale-6/$1.00. I thought it would be great to have some in the freezer.
10-17-2009, 10:42 PM
Ruth, Auston's Tooth Fairy is cheap. She's leaving him $1. My friend's daughter gets $20! I'd pull out MY tooth for a $20! :D
10-17-2009, 10:49 PM
$1 is the going rate for the Tooth Fairy in these parts, too. $20 for a tooth is insane! At that rate I'd happily yank mine out. :)
That's a great price for Gardenburgers, Deb. I hope you stocked up. They're delicious!
10-18-2009, 12:12 AM
I have a bunch of coupons for $2 off a box of GB if anyone wants any.
10-18-2009, 12:48 AM
Hi! Making my grocery list for the ever-exciting detox to start on Monday. Cyndi is holding me accountable..... sigh. OH OK. FINE. It's a good thing. She knows I'm whaling out so she's trying to help me. Always good to have a detox buddy. Now.... how to explain to Chris why I'm going to be so crabby....
OH GOOD! Time of Month comes next week too. I'll be super fun to be with. I guess this will determine how much he really loves me....
Had fun (a little too much?) last night. Spent most of the day being lazy on the couch, and then went and watched a movie with Chris and his daughter. Now I'm snuggling on the couch (with the laptop) and going to rack out in a bit.
Hope everyone's having a great weekend!
10-18-2009, 07:13 AM
Good morning and a  . I'm off to Church and then will get into my gardening duds and tackle planting the foundation beds with a few plants. It is so strange to be gardening in a winter jacket!
10-18-2009, 07:19 AM
Good Morning, Ruth. Have a great day!
Coffee is happening here, and finally some quality knitting time...doggies and DH sleeping, and just the kitty by my side. Its 38 degrees and forcasted 73 today. It looks like another week reprieve for the tomatoes and I've found a new fondness for them since I know they don't have long. The agenda includes a walk for the dogs, church, knitting and I may just have to head to the pool this afternoon for a little sunbathing/exercise. Look forward to hearing from you all....it's pretty quiet here.
10-18-2009, 08:15 AM
$20 for a tooth.. I'd get on that, LOL
10-18-2009, 08:32 AM
Coffee's happening here on this cold and dreary morning. I don't mind rain, but after 4 steady days of it, it's getting tiresome.
We're running out for groceries, then spending the remainder of the day at home. I'll probably do some cooking for the week, and then there's always the laundry.
Ruth, I know you feel really good about getting all your gardening completed before the long winter. I'm glad you have dry weather for it.
Debbie, soak up some of that sunny 73* weather for me, please! There's a rumor that we may get back up into the 70s later in the week, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I want to enjoy a little fall weather before we go into winter!
10-18-2009, 08:55 AM
Well ladies, this weekend has been boring. My fiance' is out on the field until 10/30 so I have no one to play with LOL. I went to a friend's housewarming party yesterday and left early because there was a very unpleasant person there. Today mom and I are going grocery shopping and cleaning house. Next week is spirit week at the school I work at and I am NOT looking forward to that.
10-18-2009, 09:06 AM
I'm hungry, time for a banana and some Apple Cider Vinegar Apple Juice.
Today is the 'going to visit my nephew' day. I can't believe how big he is getting.. he's a 9 month old and around like 28" long and attempts to wreck everything already, LOL.
10-18-2009, 09:14 AM
Good morning :coffee2: Hopefully the internet will stay connected long enough to get this out. We've been having some morning problems with our connection. Wonder if someone in the neighborhood is downloading big files in the morning?
Debbie - Enjoy that lovely weather. At least it isn't snowing here this morning! We don't eat Gardenburgers much because they are a little higher carb than DP wants and I just usually stock things we both eat. I have enjoyed them in the past though. I love their chicken things.
Ruth - Wow, I need some of your motivation. I hope you get some sun while you're working outside.
Cottage - Plenty of cool fall weather here - come on up :) What are you making for the week?
Lisa - We are cycling together too! That explains a little ;) Chris might as well see it now. Remember - plenty of beans (I know) and dairy to keep the carb crash under control.
Silly - Don't forget to get some snacks to carry if food is part of spirit week.
Chelby - Hey, when I was a kid it was only a quarter :) I think DD got $1 too. Seems to be just the right amount. Those pictures are adorable.
Gothik- Way to go with the evening out. So many people get side tracked by going out with friends. You really seem to have a system that works for you. Isn't it great to know we actually can say no to stuff that isn't good for us? I always felt stronger afterward. I'm with Chelby BTW - enjoying your night out stories :)
Twynn - That puppy is so cute :) Do you have a name yet?
Cat - I know you found something fun to do :)
 Pearl, Paula, Barb, Heidi
Today is supposed to be both cold and rainy, so no yard work for us. I hope to get some cooking for the week done (after I borrow some ideas from Cottage ;) ), some apples in the dryer, and a little cleaning. Then it's off to see Where the Wild Things Are and dinner in town. It will be nice to end the weekend with some fun time out.
10-18-2009, 09:31 AM
Good morning chicks!
Ruth - GOOD for YOU!! A ME day is awesome! I hope you enjoyed!
Cottage - which factory outlets did you go to? I might have to go to the Hershey ones to do a little XMax shopping this year.
Chelby - 20 bucks is nuts!! Tooth fairy brought my kids a "gold coin", which is a dollar. They are thrilled beyond belief, and love to show it off. Rumor has it, the tooth fairy ran out and had to go to the bank for more!!
Cyndi - enjoy the day! I kind of like the cold rainy days as an excuse to not get out, and get some stuff done at home (my DH can't STAND staying inside).
Gothik - I'm with them....living vicariously through you!
Debbie - How's everything going with the new pup? Does it seem like he was meant to be there?
Lisa - Need more info on this Chris guy! Good luck this week! I need to do the same thing too....
Me - the pup is awesome! No name yet, suggestions are welcome. She has the sweetest little sad face, and is very happy but timid too. I thought of calling her Mouse. My friend looked up mouse in other languages, too hard!! She broke my morning quiet/coffee/newspaper routine, since i took her on a walk first thing. Good for me to get out and get moving though!
Other name suggestions from the kids: Poppy (kinda cute, huh?) Tink (short for Tinkerbell, of course).
Have a great day!
10-18-2009, 09:51 AM
Maybe we need a support thread for people who should know better getting back on track ;) I'm still like that little kid I was - I can walk on the path but constantly step outside the lines just to see if I can get away with it :o
10-18-2009, 10:01 AM
Cyndi - So you're tellin' me that we're both detoxing AND cycling together? So Chris gets to experience me uber-crabby with an uber-crabby detox buddy? And yes I know, eat beans, so I'll be stinky on top of it. Crap. Ohhhhh we'd better hope he really loves me. Guess we'll find out!!!!
Twynn - Chris was a complete accident. I've known him 8 years. He's my friend Angie's brother, who I crushed on before I even met my ex-husband. I guess he's liked me the last 2 years or so and when all the crap went down with Tom, he was really worried about me because I wasn't sleeping, I was so depressed, etc. So after he asked me several times to do something, I finally said "ugh ok FINE" and as it turns out, he and I have nearly everything in common. The things we don't have in common, we complement each other perfectly. Here are the important parts: responsible, no temper, affectionate, caring, funny, smart, and really does love me. :D Oh, and he loves to cook!!!
Just lazing around here for a bit, then have to get cleaned up and head over to Chris' house, and then to Sherman where his parents live. It's his mom's birthday today, and he's doing the cooking. BIG stereotypical Italian family. I need to perk up a little bit so I'm ready to get pulled in 800 different directions! In the last month, this is birthday #3 for me. And he signs the cards "Chris and Lisa." Aw. :D
Alright, snuggle time for the next hour. Have a good day girls!!!! Keep warm!
10-18-2009, 10:10 AM
Hmmm doggie names I like: Rowdy, Wrigley, Addison (Addy)
I will try to come up with more.
10-18-2009, 10:43 AM
No food involved in spirit week....just really REALLY irritating teenagers. LOL
May need a drink after the week is up.
10-18-2009, 11:11 AM
Good morning everyone,
Quick swing by for me this morning, need to get ready for church, will try to pop in later.
The Good news is the Sun is shining whewhoo haven't seen it in a week.
10-18-2009, 11:29 AM
Pearlrose - Congratulations, you have made it to onederland.
Ruth - your new flowerbed will look so lovely in the spring, can't wait to see pictures of it.
Cottage - I use to love shopping your way but now I discovered that there is no tax in N.H. although the selection isn't as good.
Cyndi - I can't just smell the wonderful cooking aroma at your house today.
Tywnn - my goldies name was Holly, born on Halloween and we got her for Christmas.
Lisa - I'm so glad things are looking up for you. Chris sounds wonderful.
SillyFluff - I'm all for you having a glass of wine after dealing with teenagers.
Debbie - your day sounds nice and relaxing.
me - not much on my plate. Garden clean up today and roasted chicken and preparing the kitchen so my monster fridge can get in.
10-18-2009, 12:00 PM
good Sunday morning, all!
I'm barely awake... just got my first cup o joe. Karaoke was alright last night... it was at a bowling alley where they were having a bowling tournament so as you can imagine, there were a lot of drinks flowing. Our "Get Down Tonight" went over well and we even got dancers! Love it when that happens...
I came home early though because I was running a fever. No idea why. I did manage to break it overnight though, so thats good.
Once I become human (a.k.a. drink a couple of mugs of coffee) I will be gettin the chicken chili in the crockpot. YUMMO! Can't wait to try this recipe!
Thats all for now I guess... nothing much planned today. Make chili, job search, watch football :D sounds like a wonderful day!
Keep it beachy!
10-18-2009, 12:51 PM
:congrat: Pearlrose:cheer: :cheer: You're over the hump!
I'll check in later I'm going to be late for church:running:
Cottage "October showers bring May flowers" :?:
Silly, I'm chuckling:Lol: are there others who don't have spirit during spirit week? Reminds me of pep rallies :barf:
Jellybean:wave: Glad you stopped by.
Cyndi, I'm thinkin' today the thing you wouldn't like about Alaska is lack of internet  Have fun at the movies-I should see what it's about.
Twynn, We're smitten with Bing, but he has some separation anxiety (and a heart murmur $$). We'll work on both. I'm excited to hear your pups name. I think Poppy is very cute...also Tink. I think it's good to pick a name from the kids...with several exceptions..ha ha
Lisa, I've missed you but don't envy detox. Get through it and hang out closer to home. Sounds like a wonderful guy, Chris.
Sophie, thanks for the message about knitting. I'd call myself intermediate-I don't have patience for things that need to fit (like people sweaters). Chix sounds good.
Gothik, I have a mental image of Karaoke and a bowling tourney  Hope you're not getting sick. Football and chili sounds like a winning combo.
The big question of the day is knit first and clean later or?? Think I'll knit first.
10-18-2009, 01:04 PM
Lisa - Chris sounds like a winner. I was worried about you for awhile.
Me - I took Rex to Dirty Dawgs where I gave him a bath yesterday and he smells so much better. I finished watching the movie Alexander that Don and I started watching on the cruise. After that I checked Mafia Wars and noticed Don was playing poker so I stayed up until midnight playing and flirting online. That was a lot of fun. I'm not sure what his plans are today but he said he'd call if he was free for lunch. I've got to get to the grocery store but I don't pick up Brian from his Dad until 7PM.
10-18-2009, 02:34 PM
Twynne, I went to the Reading outlets yesterday, mainly Vanity Fair. It was packed, but they had a lot of good sales. I haven't been to the Hershey outlets, but I'll have to check out what stores they have. BTW, I like the names "Scooby" or "Taffy".
Cyndi, I made Butternut Squash Lasagna and Mediterranean Harvest Gratin to get me through the week. The lasagna recipe is one I made up, and the gratin is a Wegman's recipe. I also made myself an SBD-friendly apple crisp to keep me away from the apple pie I made for Jake.
10-18-2009, 03:34 PM
I hate this time of year! It truly gets me in a "blah" place. I have to strive to stay on track with everything. I'm one who needs the sun to survive. Fortunately, we've had a few days of sun-shiny days. :D I feel myself snapping out of this, slowly but surely. A little cloudy today but the sun is peeking through.
I'm going to clear out my refrigerator/freezer today. I need to do an invetory so that I can get back to menu planning and cooking at home everyday and for every meal. We had a few fast food days due to ugly, rainy weather and an insane schedule. As I've said before, if I don't plan I fail around this time every year!
Anyway, may you all have a fantastic Sunday! :D

It is a gorgeous day here after over month of rain. It's cool and no humidity. Had to turn the heater on this morning.
We had a nice adventure yesterday. Seems that the October fest event was in the evening, so we checked what was happenning in the area, headed across the Mississippi to the river road and went to a "mourning" tour at a plantation (http://www.kodakgallery.com/gallery/creativeapps/slideShow/Main.jsp?token=647493490407%3A96389871). Had a lot of fun. Then hit a Greek/Lebanese restaurant on the way back. I had leftover mousaka for breakfast today.
Today is just grocery stuff and housework, but I'm nearly done and put a big pot of soup on..the whole house smells like terragon...yum!

the white chicken chili is very good... I threw in a bit of white cheese blend in my bowl... (mozzarella, smoked provolone, asiago, parmesan, romano and fontina) very yummy!

Cat - I think your rain is with us in the north east today! Its been raining, cold and miserable all day.
We went to the neighborhood party yesterday -- I did good foodwise, I did end up having a few beers though. We actually left at 10! We were not expecting to stay there so late. DD had a great time (she is 6), we did as well. The scale is moving down, I'm going to do my wi on friday am. Today I'm doing well (it should be day 3 but after my slip last night, I may consider today day 1). what are your thoughts? should I start my phase 1 over or just keep going even if its not perfect?
I did work on my grocery list -- I have a few things I need. I did make a chickpea dip today -- it was yummy with some veggies. I have some of that already packed to take to work tomorrow.
Hope you all had a great day.

OK, Chris' mom's birthday was fun, but I'm in carb-overload. I had like a zillion different kinds of pasta, plus birthday cake. OY! Heading to the store in a few!
Here are some pics that were taken of the two of us today. Hope you enjoy!!!

Hello ladies! :)
This is my day for 'catching up'.
I've been catching up on the housework and laundry I didn't do yesterday because I was visiting my folks, and catching up on the posts I missed here and on the other sites I go to while I was without a modem.
I love Auston's jack o' lantern smile - just in time for Halloween, too! :D
Nice picture's Lisa, you guys look so happy. :)
Go Gothik Go!

Debbie, thanks for the message. It gave me some things to think about. I'm going to keep moving forward and not restart. I've done really well today and no cravings. We went out to dinner and I had a nice veggie soup and then a huge salad with grilled chicken. I appreciate your help!!

Thanks, Heidi! As much as we joke about not liking each other at all (there's an 8 year history, but just 1 month of dating thus far) hopefully we at least look like we could be a couple ;)
Oy. I'm stocked, and now broke. 5 lb bag of potatoes to feed me for 2 weeks? $2.97. Three salads worth of romaine lettuce? $2.97. Dang. I had forgotten how expensive eating healthy is, but I'm good to go!
Cyndi, don't fret. I'm still in, although Chris has said "ok so you start this tomorrow, so I'll see you Saturday." Ha. Haha. Ha. Moo.
Thing that really buh-lows is that I have my tests rescheduled for tomorrow, so I'm not allowed to eat or drink anything from midnight until my tests are over. Going in to work from 8-9:30, then tests from 10-noon/1ish, THEN hospital salad bar (thank God our hospital food is relatively decent,) then driving across the street to see the specialist. I'll be a hungry girl by 1ish. Just pray for self-control for my first meal!!!!!
