I finally had a whoosh this week and lost 2.8 lb (which is a TON for my snail paced weight loss). I realized I only have 14 lbs til I'm at a normal BMI for the first time in over 5 years!!!!

I was SO excited when I moved from the obese to overweight section of the chart. Which one will you move into next and how much do you need to lose to get there?

I don't get down to overweight until 168* pounds BUT this past week I went from being in the 40's in BMI to 39.8, so that in itself is big progress. I guess I have about 40 pounds to go before I qualify as overweight :)

* sorry for the typo on this earlier - I hit overweight at 168, NOT 268!

I'm currently at morbidly obese and in 9 (197) pounds I'll be just regular obese (pft). Then when I get to 169 (37 more lbs from now or 26 lbs after), I'll be overweight. At 140 I'll be at a healthy weight woo! :)

I'm currently Morbidly Obese. To get to Obese I have to lose 20lbs more.

I'll be at "normal" in about 15-20 lbs, depending on what chart you look at! I'm a really slow loser but I know I'll get there eventually.

I have 12 more lbs until I hit "normal" weight category at 147... crazy!! It seems like I've been obese for so long!

im such a slow loser too, losing almost 3 lbs in a week was the most ive lost in months. i typically lose 0.5 to 1 lb/week. i cant wait to get to a normal BMI, but i have a feeling im gonna have to wait quite a while.

I just went from "morbidly obese" to "severely obese", or some consider it just "obese". Yay!

Next goal to just being overweight....57 pounds to hit 174. It will get there :)

22.5lbs til I'm just overweight, which is 179lbs for my height. So I just have to lose what I've lost already, again. Phew!

I am in the obese catagory and I need to get down to 170 before I am considered over weight. I have a ways to go but its ok Ill get there.

Right now I'm still considered obese (BMI 31.9), but once I hit 196 lbs, I'll just be overweight.

once I hit 164 I'll be in normal. My goal is 160 (BMI 24.3), but I think (depending on how I look and feel once I get there) I may adjust it down to 150...which would put me at a BMI of 22.8. I've got a ways to go, but I'll get there eventually. =D

Wow, at 167 I'll be at a normal weight. It's amazing to see the difference two inches makes.

I'll be a normal weight in 23 lbs! Which is actually less than I had thought it would be.... that'll put me at 136!

If we're going by the standard 24.9 and less = normal, then I have 7 lbs to go (149). Gosh, I can't imagine being in a "normal" range. I have been in the "overweight" range for the last two years. Then, I was at this very same weight but it was fleeting. I gained it all back in the next couple of months. This time, it's for the long haul.

Just a few days ago, I dropped to 155 and I went from 26 --> 25.8 in BMI. I was really excited! :D

I'm still at the top end of obese (but no longer morbidly obese!) so I've got around 57 lbs to go until I'm overweight. So far away, but I'll get there!

I am 6 pounds from "Healthy"....!!! 167 lbs is healthy for me!

I think it depends on the source. I'm 5'8" and "Normal" at 167, too (according to Weight Watchers online).

Congratulations! That's awesome!
I've never even thought about when I'll be in the next section.. I just calculated, and I started at 37.9, now I'm down to 34.5. That kinda makes me feel good, haha! I still have 4.6 until I'm out of the "obese" category :o, but I'm gettin there!

yeah its harder because it takes a lot of pound to go down a BMI point. i started at a BMI of 34.5 exactly and i remember getting out of the obese category, its great! i never thought being "overweight" would feel so good, lol.

Normal for my BMI would be 132 lbs (the highest it can be before going into Overweight status). So that leaves me with 22 lbs to loose - seems like it'll take a light year to get there... grr!

Grrr I really hate these charts. I'm feeling so great about myself, yet I'm still obese. Geez, I don't FEEL obese!! I'm not that far away but I think I'm just going to keep using how I feel, how my fitness is going and how my clothes fit as indicators instead of the BMI chart.

Similarly, I don't even want to know what would be 'normal' for me as it would make me feel bad that having come all this way that I'm still considered overweight by quite a way. However I'm fitter than I've ever been in my life, wearing a clothes size I haven't seen in 18 years (UK 14, US10) and I don't feel 'overweight'.

Don't know what the chart looks like for a 6 footer like me
But my judge for better or worse at the moment is Dr. Wii Fit ;)

He tells me that at 284 I wont see what they call the overweight range
(Their version of obese) until I hit - 225, so doing the math = 59 lbs to go!

Currently I PEG the scale in what it calls, "Thats Obese", wha whum waa...

My mini goal I set when over 300 was I'd be glad to get to 275 and a smaller waist size....ALL ABOARD ---- 275 is coming up fast !! 9 lipid lilliputians will die

Wii fit is cool, it lets you set the mini goals and keeps it interesting

peachykeen62 I'm with you on a vague BMI skepticism. I'm aiming for a normal BMI weight though because that way I know I'll be at a weight that a doctor would have no concerns about.

i have nine pounds to go till I'm at a "normal BMI"

I began this journey weighing 370 with a BMI of 57 - super morbidly obese. When I got to 328 I was morbidly obese. At 262, over 100 lbs lost, I was plain old obese. Right now I'm in the middle of the obese range. At 196 I'll hit overweight. And at 165 I'll be normal.

I don't know if I'll ever get to 165 since I am so muscular. I think the BMI index is really too low to measure me correctly since I have an exceedingly large frame and a lot of muscle. Just eyeballing it I look like I'm on the cusp of obese/overweight right now. I'm not too hung up on it. Really, when I get to 199 I will consider the war over and the battle won. Anything else lost beyond that will be icing on the cake!

I don't think I have EVER been this close. I also think i will still consider myself fat. I think we need a little adjustment until we see ourselves for what we are and not as big as we once were, because right now I still see myself as this huge person. Maybe one day

I'm currently in the "healthy weight" BMI section, but a bit at the higher end. I have 12-15 lbs more to go before I'm right in the middle of the "healthy weight" section.

Two things have happened this week:

First I found out that I am an inch taller than I thought. Hurray, I grew up!

Second, it was TOM and I have been hovering around 171 for a week now, 171.0 said the scale today. At 169 I'll be overweight, a category I haven't belonged to in over 5 years. At 141 I'll be smack into normal territory. My goal is to be 135 (subject to reassessment). As it always happens after my period I expect a sizable drop soon, so I'll be celebrating soon.

Just today I found out that I dropped from "obese" BMI to "overweight" BMI! I have another 30 lbs or so until I drop into "healthy".
