Phew that was a mouthful! I can sense your urgency.

I am sorry you have MS- my husband was diagnosed earlier this year- but is doing well on his meds- I assume you are on Copaxone or Avonex?

There is an MS diet that you can follow- by Dr. Swank. It might help- they strongly discourage red meat btw.

As for you- I suggest small changes since you seem overwhelmed at the moment. You have lost 70 lbs so far (congratulations) and now you are stalled- do you exercise? Patients with MS are encouraged to exercise also- my husband and I go bike riding now- for him as well as myself :D

If your kids like to bike ride perhaps you can get a bike also (I assume they have bikes already) and ride with them?

Try to remain calm- my husband's MS has not taken over his life- we refuse to let it- and besides his daily injections and visits to the neurologist every few months he's totally fine.

Also people with MS still live a normal life expectancy- don't worry about that :)

Wow, I can see how you would feel overwhelmed, but let me just say CONGRATS ON 70 LBS OFF!!! You are helping yourself and your family in a big way by deciding to lose weight. Think of what a wonderful example you are setting for your kids teaching them a healthy lifestyle! I am also 5'2 and feel the same way, as I am at 245 currently!

beerab is right, people with MS have a normal life expectancy. I'm a nurse and just in my personal experience I have seen a WHOLE lotta illness related to obesity, MS....not so much

Just take it one small step at a time and you will be posting after pics before you know it! :)

The injections are also painful for my husband- but worth it- he accidentally forgot to take it two days in a row and became ill- dizziness, headaches, etc- so we know the medication definitely does something!

I'm always around on the boards :)

Welcome and good luck. Are you familiar with Montel Williams ? He used to have a popular talk show. He has MS and has refused to let it get him down. I know you want to be as healthy as you can for your twins, two sets , that would wear anybody down. I wish you well.

You can make it to goal, too. Find a program that you can work. I found calorie counting worked best for me, and I had tried them all, or so it seemed. Calorie counting is flexible and free. I was over 200 pounds, too and shocked that I was that heavy, I believe I was more than the 204 that I show as my starting weight. I got that figure from an old WW attendance record. I am sure I hit a higher weight but I avoided the scale, I just know it was too much. I have health issues, too, but it is a good thing that I keep my weight down. I know you want to be healthy for those two sets of twins. You can do it !! You have made the first step by posting here. Good luck!

see...how wonderful things can smell when they dont smell like cigarretes...sometimes I want to start smoking just so i wont eat...cause i hear people say that if you smoke you stop eating...but I would be able to live without smelling the wonderful scent of lavender...

Well, let me tell you..smoking doesn't make you thin or lose weight. I smoked for 21 years and when I started my weight loss journey last July, I was tipping the scales at 330 pounds.

As far as the weight loss ticker, you need to be a member 20 days and have 20 posts to put the ticker in your siggy.
