Biggest Loser Challenges - Red Team Week 5 ChatView Full Version : Red Team Week 5 Chat RangerChic 10-13-2009, 02:10 AM Week five thread! Also, if you have yet to read my final post in the week four thread, please do so. Thanks! shan84 10-13-2009, 07:03 AM Hope everyone has a great start to week 5. I'm trying to play catch up since I took my first freebie this past week. So far so good. I've been on plan with eating. I do need to step it up and start working out for the week. Good luck to everyone!! GO RED TEAM!! maryshady 10-13-2009, 07:47 AM Hi Red Team! None of us have heard for Dee either. Last time she was on she said she had a really busy week but she has said that before and appeared sporadically. We are starting to get worried too. Hope we hear from her soon. Ms Perception 10-13-2009, 10:01 AM That's so weird that no one's heard from dixied. Hope that mystery is solved soon! Shan-I also took my first freebie week this past weigh-in. I was actually gonna post my gain, but then the night got away from me and I just didn't get to it. I wasn't all that thrilled to post a gain anyway, so it's just as well. I feel 100 times better today than yesterday. I had nothing good to say about anything weight or weight-loss related yesterday. Thankfully though, I was able to regain perspective throughout the day and realize it's a long term commitment to health, not a quick fix to be skinny. In light of that, I spent the whole day OP, workouts and all, yesterday despite how I felt. I made a DELICIOUS stir fry for supper that reminded me that healthy does not equal boring/deprivation/bland. So, I'm back to better form and thrilled that it was only 1 off plan meal I was recovering from. On to healthier and happier things.... Let's rock week 5! IgetfitNStrongforme 10-13-2009, 01:16 PM No word from dix yet on my end... Also, I need to find a replacement myself as of the end of this month to lead this team. As of the week of November 1st, I cannot be the team leader anymore. I love everyone, I'm just so busy and November is only going to get more so. So, if you are interested, please drop me a PM. This would start as of the compiling of the weigh-ins from the week before, as Nov 1st is a Sunday. Thanks everyone. In case anyone didn't see the very last post on week 4 chat, this is what RangerChic (Shannon) posted. Shannon I am sorry we are losing you midway through the game, first we seem to lose Dixied now you, it is a hard blow. You will be missed very much. I hear MonteCristo is the new RED TEAM LEADER! :woohoo: MonteCristo 10-13-2009, 04:54 PM I hear MonteCristo is the new RED TEAM LEADER! :woohoo: Yes, you heard correctly. I'll be taking over from Shannon November 1st (for week 7 weigh-in). I'm going to be working on coming up with challenges and other random stuff for the team in the next couple of weeks, so be prepared. IgetfitNStrongforme 10-13-2009, 05:05 PM Yes, you heard correctly. I'll be taking over from Shannon November 1st (for week 7 weigh-in). I'm going to be working on coming up with challenges and other random stuff for the team in the next couple of weeks, so be prepared. Congrats again, I am ready for you to lead us on to Victory and Weight loss! No lets kick some Blue Butt! :kickbutt: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: shan84 10-13-2009, 08:59 PM MonteCristo- So excited your going to be leading our team. Woohoo! Looking forward to the week 5 challenge being posted. Hope everyone is having a good week. I'm halfway through the week here in SK. Wednesday morning has arrived!! Not to jinx anything, but I weighed myself this morning and I'm back to my original weight from week 3 (last week I had a freebie because I gained 3.5lbs). Hoping to really dive into some exercise starting today and moving throughout the rest of the week and weekend. I hope to post a good number loss for week 5. shan84 10-13-2009, 09:00 PM IgetfitNStrongforme- What is your new avatar? Its really different from the one you had up before. :) IgetfitNStrongforme 10-13-2009, 09:56 PM IgetfitNStrongforme- What is your new avatar? Its really different from the one you had up before. :) Shan84, I am always changing it. :D Dixied just posted the results for last week. Congrats to MrsVegan00 for being our biggest loser last week. Kiml1214 I knew you be up there congrats missy and Shan84 the super star of weight loss congrats and wfonseca3017 congrats to you as well. Week 3 Team Results Red Team Biggest Loser: MrsVegan00 - 6.5lbs (3.27%) Runner ups: kiml1214 - 6lbs (2.17%) shan84 - 4.5lbs (1.31%) wfonseca3017 - 2lbs (1.29%) IgetfitNStrongforme - 2.4lbs (1.26%) Dixied has posted the 4th weeks results for the blue team just waiting for the Red Team's results. tinabinab 10-13-2009, 11:11 PM ... so be prepared. Uh oh, I think I just saw your inner Jillian trying to get free! ;) I'm trying to release mine this week - gotta make up for that gain last week! :) It happens though, and I am finding it helps to repeat my motto below when I am feeling even slightly discouraged. I have to remind myself just how far quitting has got me in the past. Oh yeah, it gets me no where. It gets me bigger sizes, less self esteem and more tears in the dressing room. No thanks! Here's to a very successful week for the red team!! shan84 10-14-2009, 08:41 AM If your going to being out your inner Jillian, MonteCristo, I am so ready for you!!! I had a great day today. I stayed OP with food. I chased after preschool kids for 3 hours (something never on my schedule at work to do). I also did the 2 mile WATP video tonight after I got home from teaching the late night adult conversation class. I'm really happy with how I did today. I hope exercise wise it is a turning point for me to get back in the game and be more motivated to continue to stive for my goal. I'm in a halloween challenge and I only have 9lbs to go for that. How awesome would it be if I made that goal? I think it would be AMAZING! :) Wish me luck. Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday. I'm off to sleep so I'm ready for everything Thursday will bring (105 middle school boys for a 2 day camp). MonteCristo 10-14-2009, 09:23 AM It looks like I'm going to be taking over a week early, so look out week 6. I will post the weekly challenge Sunday afternoon so everyone has a chance to look over it before the week starts. I'm getting so excited, and really motivated. What kind of leader would I be if I go off plan every other day? sweetandspicy 10-14-2009, 10:47 AM Hope everyone is doing well. It is raining again today so it is dreary. My day started off horribly with when I emptyed the trash the bag broke, got to my van and there was a horrible smell (kids left an egg salad sandwhich in there over night) got delayed by 2 wrecks and finally when I got to work my umbrella broke so I was soaked by the time I got to the door. I am thinking it was a sign that I should have stayed in bed. Oh- well I am here and the day can only get better. tinabinab 10-14-2009, 11:17 AM Ranger - Thank you for leading us so far!! Hope you'll be checking in with us when you can. Shan - Way to go!! Sounds like you had a great day!! MonteCristo - Bring it on. ;) Amy - It's still early - hope your day improves!! Nicki54 10-14-2009, 01:59 PM 2lb weight loss for me on Week 5, my weigh in day is a Wednesday. PROUD RED TEAM MEMBER :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: Nicki JasonsLea 10-14-2009, 01:59 PM  girls! We won Week 3 right? Do we know who won Week 4? Congratulations Monte! :D MonteCristo 10-14-2009, 02:49 PM mommyofsix - I hope the rest of your day goes smoother. Nicki54 - Congrats on the loss of 2lbs! :carrot: JasonsLea - Shannon hasn't posted the official results, but from my numbers it looks like RED TEAM took the victory once again. :woohoo: dcapulet 10-14-2009, 06:27 PM hi ladies! wow, some changes are happening! congrats to our new team leader, and the the big losers this week! my 5k is this sunday. i feel ok about it, i just hope i can finish it! IgetfitNStrongforme 10-14-2009, 06:49 PM Mommyofsix: You need to send Los Angeles some of your rain! MonteCristo: I am very excited for the Jillian in you to kick our butts and a little scared, I may need my mommy! LOL Shan84: I'll do something better then wish you luck I'll pray for you. Tinabinab: I think we should be afraid very afraid, I think MonteCristo might be Jillian's evil twin! LOL Ms. Perception: I am glad you are felling better. RangerChic: Thank you for all your hard work being our Team Leader. DCapulet: You're doing a 5k?! I am very impressed, I don't think I could do 5 yards much less a 5k. JasonLea: Hello! Nicki54: 2lbs fantastic! :woohoo: I had my exercise class with my ladies today and we sweated a lot and had a blast. I'm really tired; I pushed them hard as well as myself. I have been having a hard time with my snacking lately I’m craving food late a night not like me at all. I am wondering if I need some vitamin supplement, because I read cravings mean your body needs something. But I can't figure out what it is. Aclai4067 10-14-2009, 07:54 PM Had a good workout today. I upped some of my running intervals today and didn't feel like dying. woot! Hope everyone's having a good week so far. Burn it! (this was my teams slogan from a biggest loser competition at my gym, I still like it) mtiger 10-14-2009, 08:33 PM Just checking in for the first time this week. Change is a comin. Thanks to all who help keep this thing going. I can be motivational, but don't think I could ever handle all the statistics part of the job. Thanks again. I am just doing my thing every day. Work, workout, eat 1500 calories. I live the life of the tortoise and the hare. Cape Breton Chick 10-14-2009, 10:19 PM Hey everyone!! So sorry I have been so out of the loop, I have been out of town since Sunday pretty much and just got home this evening... am going to try and catch up tonight! Hope everyone had a great week! :grouphug: IgetfitNStrongforme 10-15-2009, 04:02 AM Hey everyone!! So sorry I have been so out of the loop, I have been out of town since Sunday pretty much and just got home this evening... am going to try and catch up tonight! Hope everyone had a great week! :grouphug: Angela, I am glad you're back, I hope you had a great Thanksgiving. I see you started a new challange for us, thanks for helping us get motivated. I've signed and so has MonteCristo. :) PS: Aclai4067 I am going to use Burn It in my signature, I hope you don't mind. I think it's a great slogan for the Red Team. shan84 10-15-2009, 10:12 AM Hope everyone has a great Thursday. Heading into Friday morning here in SK. Not much planned today. We still have the middle school boys and I have 5 classes tomorrow teaching them (in English) about the ocean and sea animals. Woohoo! Haha. Anyways, I'm still on plan with my food this week. Still lacking in motivation for exercise. I don't know what to do to get it through my head that I need to do more. Of course winter time is coming quickly here and the weather is getting colder. I did find out how much a gym membership is in town. I'm just scared to go because 1) I'll be the biggest person there, and 2) Everyone else is Korean so its not like I can react to anything they say, let alone understand anything they say. I'm wondering if I should try going and just see what it is like. Maybe get on the treadmill and the bike. Just make an afternoon of it. Actually I think I'm ready to commit to giving it a shot. I'm going to make plans to go in on Saturday and do a last chance workout there before my weigh in on Sunday morning. You watched me write it, so now please hold me too it. :) GO RED TEAM!!! KimL1214 10-15-2009, 04:51 PM Ms Perception~ Good to hear that you’re feeling better! MonteCristo~ Congrats on being our soon-to-be Team Leader! tinabinab~ That is a really great motto! shan84~ Great job getting all that exercise in! Mommyofsix~ Yikes! Sorry that yesterday was such a crazy bad day! How have things been today? Nicki54~ Congrats on 2 lbs.!!! dcapulet~ Good luck on your 5K!!! IgetfitNStrongforme~ Have your tried drinking a little extra water to see if that takes care of the craving? Cape Breton Chick~ Did you have a good time out of town? shan84~ Saturday it is! You can do it! A bit of frustrating day with a confrontation between my boss and I about my going on the 3FC website. I agreed not to go on during the school day anymore, but when she tried to say I couldn’t before or after either, I drew the line. There is no reason why I can’t and if it really bugs her, I’ll use a computer in another room. This is my last 14 hour day this week, which makes a total of 3, plus three 8 hour days… I can’t wait to sleep in on Saturday!!! [/FONT] Sorry about your boss that does seem unfair. Don't let it get you down. I will try more water and see if that helps, plus I am going to try 3-5 serving of organic whole wheat a day. I wish I could just eat 1200 calories a day but my body just says more food please until I give in. 1600 calories is going to be hard but I think it will make all the difference at the scale. Aclai4067 10-15-2009, 07:51 PM Upped my running intervals a little more today. Still didn't feel like I was dying during, but... er... I feel it now. Someone come cook for me, I have not the strength to stand! shan84 10-15-2009, 08:42 PM Hope everyone had a great Thursday. TGIF here in SK. Feeling good today and I think it's going to be a great day! :) Aclai4067 10-15-2009, 09:26 PM I've been a bit bored with baked chicken. I'm a pretty plain eater, I usually just put some garlic and mrs. dash on it. So to change it up tonight I stuffed my chicken with sun-dried tomatoes, light feta, and some kalamata olives. It was SO good! IgetfitNStrongforme 10-16-2009, 12:55 AM I've been a bit bored with baked chicken. I'm a pretty plain eater, I usually just put some garlic and mrs. dash on it. That does sound yummy, can you please post the receipe? :D __________________________________________________ ____________ MonteCristo: Can you please post what the results are for last week as Dixied only posted Blue Teams, which I think you gave to them. I believe Dixied went back to her sick bed. KimL1214 10-16-2009, 04:11 PM IgetfitNStrongforme~ You should still see some good weight loss at 1600 calories!!! Aclai4067~ Sounds like your running intervals might be at a perfect level right now. Could you post the recipe you used with the chicken as it sounds amazing! I have never stuffed a chicken before, so I am a little clueless… Where is everyone? We tried the low ropes course out behind our school today, so my thighs are kinda sore right now as I really had to put a lot of effort into staying on the wire… Have a great weekend everyone! I just woke up! I stayed up late until 3:00 AM watching Star Trek, I am such nerd! LOL What's a low ropes course? Yeah 1600 calories is okay but I just wish I could do what they do on TBL campus but then again they can't escape can they! LOL MONTECRISTO"S evil twin JILLIAN chains the doors! So have you been thinking up some challenges for us when you take over? RangerChic 10-17-2009, 02:03 AM Sorry about the lack of results, I will have them to dix tomorrow. It's been a busy week (and somewhat bad) for me. IgetfitNStrongforme 10-17-2009, 05:11 AM I have noticed that no one posts much anymore on the Red Team Chat Thread because they post on other threads, we seem to have lost our team spirit. We may have won 3 of 4 weigh-in's but there is no real team support much anymore. shan84 10-17-2009, 07:47 AM I'm here posting everyday even if just saying hello to anyone who might stop in to read the thread. Sometimes feel like I'm talking to myself. :) But hey, I also recognize many people are really busy during the week. I just happen to have a lot of time on my hands and tend to spend countless hours throughout the week reading posts and replying to some as well. I hope everyone is having a good weekend. It's Saturday night here in SK. I did not make it to the gym but I did get a fitness video in tonight as well as quite a bit of housework. Tomorrow morning is my weigh in. I'm at least hoping that I lost enough to get back to where I was two weeks ago. I took a freebie last week because I gained. Hoping to have some good news to show for the week. GO RED TEAM!! Cape Breton Chick 10-17-2009, 09:15 AM Hey everyone.. it has been a crazy two weeks for me and my family.. but things are going back to normal.. kind of.. just waiting now to hear if my nephew will need surgery one his left shoulder, the ortho surgeon says if it does not knit back together on its own soon we will be headin to the OR.. he took a clean but very hard hit in hockey last weekend... He is 14 and a tough kid... doctors said he barely flinched when they were trying to push the break close enough together to strap him up... and they said grown men usually scream... so I am wayy proud of him! So.. I went ahead and joined the local gym yesterday.. I have never been find of it but as I feel like I have been getting lazy with my workouts videos at home I figured I needed a little bit of variety..so here goes.. lol Kim, you had asked me if I had a nice vacation.. and I did.. I spent some time with my mom and dad which I haven't had a lot of time to do lately so that was nice, as well as got a shopping trip in.. which made me personally very happy.. my bank acct. is not so thrilled.. lol Shannon, I want to thank you for all of the hard work you have put in to our team.. I hope we will still see you frm time to time...? Good Luck to our new Team Leader... I know your gonna rawk it! ;) Have a great Saturday Ladies... and great Saturday night to you Shan.. lol Aclai4067 10-17-2009, 12:19 PM Weigh-in day today. I'm down on my home scale this morning, and going to WW in about 45 min to weigh-in. It's cold as frick here. Yeah, I'm sure even colder up north, but 49 degrees is unacceptable to this southern girl. I can't wait to move to warmer climates (yeah, Georgia is too cold for me). So it looks like today's planned outdoor activities will be swapped for some gym time. The temp is supposed to come back up later in the week. But still, this is just reminding me of the challenge to come with winter ahead. This is the hardest time of year for me, not just because of all the holidays, but because the first hint of cold makes me want to hibernate! jessicado22 10-17-2009, 01:17 PM Have had a super busy week so sorry I haven't been on more. Even right now I am getting ready to run out the door again, ugh! I have managed to stick with working out everyday (except for this upcoming weekend) despite my schedule though, so at least I can be proud of that. Had to weigh in early today as I'll be gone for the next few days....and I still showed a 6 lb loss for the week!!!!!! I am in shock as I had so many weeks recently with only a few pound losses or even gains. So woohoo! :carrot: Anyways, I hope we ladies rock at this week's weigh in! IgetfitNStrongforme 10-17-2009, 02:13 PM Well I wrote that post because I wanted people to know that each memeber of the Red Team is needed for support of their fellow team mates. We are all in this together. I understand we are all busy but if team members are only posting on other threads it would be nice to spread the love to the team thread as they say. Shan84: With that said I still can't believe it's saturday night were you are, always a day a head. I just woke up and now I am part awake at the computer. I have a good feeling about my weight loss for us this week, I know a bunch of of slipped last week including me. I saw that you were finally going to bite the bullet and go to the gym in Korea, how was it, please tell us? I feel your pain with the housework! :D jessicado22: I undersatand busy believe me, and you have a newborn bady I think. I saw the photo of you with the beautiful bady, is it yours? I know I saw you were one of the biggest losers of the week again, fat just seems to melt off of you, I wish it would for me. I am very proud you are on our team. Aclai4067: I am a southern girl as well I feel your pain with the cold. Hey are you going to post that receipe for the stuffed chicken breast you made with feta cheese and sundried tomatoes? I know I and Kiml1214 would love to have that yummy receipe. Angela: I am so sorry about your nephew, I am going to be praying for him. Did you and your family get to enjoy your Thanksgiving dinner? Shannon: I just wanted to thnk you again for all your hard work. I hope also you check-in with us. I am not sure if you are still are going to be on the team, are you? Kiml121: Good Morning my friend! I am being a lazy bum right now. What are you up to? I was thinking about you when I saw the Barefoot Contessa make Lemon Sole it looked so good. If you want I will get the receipe. KimL1214 10-17-2009, 02:56 PM MonteCristo~ Thank you for posting those results! IgetfitNStrongforme~ A low ropes course is a series of wires that attached to large wooden beams. The beans are too far apart for you to be able to get from one to another without the help of others. We’re trying to get our students working together more and we have to start with the low ropes before moving onto the high ropes course. Every team needs a little kick in the butt every now and then so don’t feel bad for posting that! Recipe sounds interesting, I'm willing to try it... shan84~ How has your week been? Think you’ll see some good stuff on the scale tomorrow? Cape Breton Chick~ Sorry to hear about your nephew, I hope he heals okay! How was your time at the gym? Good to hear you had a good vacation! Aclai4067~ How did your weigh in go? jessicado22~ 6 lbs. is awesome!!! Congratulations to all our biggest losers! I unfortunately woke up this morning with a sore throat and feeling pretty icky. My parents have been in NM for a little over a week, so I’m hanging out at their house today to make people think that someone is actually staying here… hence the reason why I have access to a computer. I went to Rent-a-Center last night to check out computers, but while I could afford the monthly payment, I would end up paying 4X what the computer is actually worth in the long run. I think I’m just going to try and get my desktop from college fixed up and then just save up for a laptop. A nap sounds really good right now… Aclai4067 10-17-2009, 03:48 PM Hey ladies. Lost 3 pounds this week. woot! I am battling with the idea of when I'm going to bite the bullet and start wearing jeans to weigh-in. I've been wearing light skirts and dresses all summer. So today given the weather I wanted to wear jeans of course and thought they couldn't hurt that much. So before I walked out the door I stepped on the scale in my jeans. I was up 2.5 pounds... I took the jeans off, my weight went right back down. My jeans weigh 2.5 lbs! I was not about to let my pants negate this week's hard work at my weigh-in so I changed into a dress before I went. I'm going to have to start wearing pants eventually, but I wasn't ready to take that hit this week. Jessicado- you're doing so awesome! KimL- hope you feel better soon Stuffed Chicken Recipe- (it's super-easy, I don't do complicated) One 3oz chicken breast (apprx. 110 cal/3 points) 2T California Sun-Dry brand julienne cut sundried tomatoes w/ herbs (45 cal/1 point) 1T President brand fat free feta cheese (40 cal/1 point) 5 large kalamata olives, pitted (45 cal/1 point) Garlic powder [optional] (calories not listed, sorry) Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees F. Cut olives into 3 or 4 smaller pieces. Crumble feta cheese. Cut a pocket into the side of the chicken and stuff the tomatoes, olives and feta inside. Pull the pocket closed the best you can, it will probably gape some. Sprinkle some garlic powder on top if you like. Place chicken on a non-stick cooking sheet and bake for 18-20 min. Double as needed for multiple people/servings * 240 Calories/6 WW points per serving I usually serve this with green veggies such as snap peas or broccoli to avoid adding points to the meal. I say stay in bed drink lots of tea and have some chicken soup and watch old movie or whatever you like that is my prescription for you feeling better. As far as computers Dell has some killer deals and plus I bet through your school you can get some sweet deals! Hey ladies. Lost 3 pounds this week. woot! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: Congrats on your 3 lbs, I know how hard you worked for them! And thanks for the yummy recipe. __________________________________________________ __________ I received this PM below from BlkBarbie25 and I wanted to share it because I want her teams to know what she is going through so we can all support her. She was our biggest loser last week and yet when she stumbled she feels unworthy. We are all worth it, to take back our lives and to be happy. I have noticed that no one posts much anymore on the Red Team Chat Thread because they post on other threads, we seem to have lost our team spirit. We may have won 3 of 4 weigh-in's but there is no real team support much anymore. i keep falling off the wagon and i didnt want to be a bad influence :( That's what we are here for to support each other. Please don't go hide when you fall off come and talk with your team mates. You are not a bad influence, believe me. Just remember that you lost 8lbs last week, you were our biggest loser! Did you read how Shan84 and I were complaining to each other a couples weeks ago that we fell off the wagon, she had beer & some other things and I had 3 chocolate bars one day and Thai take out another. Today I had a chocolate bar, I just never seem to be able to resist them a day or two before TOM. But I got some great advice from my team mates, which was to have 1 chocolate bar because if not, I might eat 3. One bar I can work into my calories three bars are half my calories for the day. There is a reason why Shan84, myself and MonteCristo post our food everyday one we can see how many calories we are eating, two accountability and three the support we get from each other to stay the course. I want to ask you one more question; if you were to fall down on the ground would you lay there on the ground for the rest of your life? No, of course not you'd get up no matter how many times you fell and if you needed up up you'd ask for it. Please take your teams hand and get off the ground and walk on. Aclai4067 10-17-2009, 07:30 PM Agreed. When you feel like you aren't doing your best is when you need to be here the most. Winning is great and all, but the real goal for all of us here is to stay commited to our plan. Staying commited doesn't mean never messing up; it means not letting your mistakes defeat you (I had cheesecake today, it was over my points [but delicious] and just a blip that I'm moving right past). So when things aren't going well, come here for the support and motivation to get yourself back where you need to be. On another note, I went to the gym today, despite really really not feeling like it. The aforementioned cheesecake made a workout a bit more necessary than usual. I got there just in time to complete my 90 min before they closed. Feeling a little better now. Planning to have lots of veggies for dinner to help keep my points down. shan84 10-17-2009, 08:16 PM Hello everyone! Guess who weighed in this morning? Not only did I lose the weight I gained last week, but I also lost an additional 4.5lbs! Woohoo!!!! I will come back later and fill you in on my inches lost. I was only hoping to show a loss back to where I was in week 3 (339.5), so I'm so happy I had big numbers this week. I hope I am absolutely on the right track to come back strong and finish this challenge and keep moving forward with my weight loss. My week was good. I was on target with all food, water consumption, and just being in a generally great mood. My exercise wasn't as good as it could have been, but I wasn't lazy either. I had a conversation with my mom last night that was a total wake up call. It's been hard on my mom with me being half way around the world. I would say we are fairly close and I know it hurts her that I am so far away. Well, she told me one of her co-workers has a 25 year old son (just like me 25), and that he is overweight and has sleep apnea (just like me). Anyways, she told me on Saturday night that he died in his sleep earlier this week. She told me though she hates me being so far away, she is proud of me for starting to shed this weight so something like that doesn't happen to me. To go along with that, I noticed in the past 3 weeks or so here on this forum and in different threads there have been a few people who have passed away, and others given not great news about their health. It just goes to show how fragile life is. It's a reminder to me of what is important. Is it important that I calorie count to the "T" everyday. No. Is it important that I'm happy. Yes. What do I need to be happy? I need to take care of me. :) See how it all roles around? Anyways, thanks for anyone who is still reading this. I know its a long post, but you get lonely here in SK with no English speakers to really talk to without having to explain every word you say. I'll come back in a few hours and give you an update on measurements and do some personals. IgetfitNStrongforme 10-17-2009, 08:30 PM Aclai4067: Well said regarding staying commited. I had a chocolate bar today for my pre-TOM treat, but cheesecake sounds really good. I wish they sold individual portions that were only 300 calories of cheescake... :D Shan84: As I have said before you are a ROCK SUPER STAR ! :woohoo: TOM is about to start for me and I just started drinking my dandallion root tea mixture to combat water retention. I have gain 4 lbs but it is all water I am hopefully even though I started my tea mixture late I can still flush out all my water retention. My diet and exercise has been very good this week, so I should see a good loss if I can get rid of the water retention. Cape Breton Chick 10-17-2009, 08:32 PM Hey everyone... I hope everyone had a good day... I had a great relaxing day hanging with my nephew watching movies. Kim - The gym was great... a nice addition for my cardio workouts i think, I can get on the treadmill and just go.. lol IgetFit - Thank you for the prayers.. they are very much appriciated... and no we didn't get to have the "offical" Thanksgiving day.. but got leftovers.. :) Aclai - I hear you about the cold... it is freezing here already, and frankly it is really too early in the year for this kind of cold... Global Warming is kickin everyones butt i think lol... but it is a big reason I got the gym membership too.. because I feel it will keep me more motivated when it gets much colder come December lol jessicado22 - 6 pounds??? I know we can.. we can do whatever it is we want... and I know we all want this for one another as much as for ourselves! GROUP HUG :grouphug: K I just thought of a game/challenge we can allplay here now to build up some morale and support.. whos in? 1. I think we should each write something about ourselves that we love, physically 2. Then write something you want to strive for and obtain then write something positive about yourself that makes up your person that will help you to reach that goal 3. Then write something positive and encouraging about the last person who posted... Whatty'all think? Aclai4067 10-17-2009, 08:40 PM What do I need to be happy? I need to take care of me. :) . How perfect. Our WW assignment this week is to take care of ourselves! And congrats on an awesome loss this week. You've been doing so well! 1. I think we should each write something about ourselves that we love, physically 2. Then write something you want to strive for and obtain then write something positive about yourself that makes up your person that will help you to reach that goal 3. Then write something positive and encouraging about the last person who posted 1- I love my eyes; they're bright green 2- I want to be able to run a mile to start, and eventually a half-marathon. I'm a very determined person and I know I can reach my goals 3- Angela is so supportive and always coming up with awesome activities to keep the team going! I know this attitude will bring her success. IgetfitNStrongforme 10-17-2009, 08:41 PM K I just thought of a game/challenge we can allplay here now to build up some morale and support.. whos in? 1. I love my eyes and my heart :). 2. I want to know that this year I spend here in SK is worth it and will be something I can look back on as a turning point in my life. I can do this by staying on track to a healthier and happier me, and staying strong in my faith. 3. IGetFit- I struggle to even find the words to describe what a wonderful person I think you are. I feel like I can't do you justice. Your extremely supportive, compassionate, and have a heart of gold. Your faith is inspiring. Your a go getter, and a great chearleader for our team. You keep me accountable and for that I know I will be forever greatful. Thank you for your heart and your support. :) You ROCK! RangerChic 10-18-2009, 01:42 AM Hey team, again sorry about the delay in the weigh-in results, but I have completed week 4 and PMed dix. I deserve so much and will figure out how to have it. 3. Everyone above me is great. You are the glue that keeps this team together. You are always here, posting and being supportive. I haven gotten very lax (and busy) and I am so glad someone has grabbed the ball and run with it. You girls are awesome. I am having a very lonely yet eye opening kind of weekend. I have gotten very introspective and philisophical about my life. It is hard, but it is also neccessary. IgetfitNStrongforme 10-18-2009, 03:29 PM MTiger: Mindy come hang out and you'll realize you aren't alone. Shannon: I wish even though you are stepping aside as our team leader, that you would hang out for a while and a little share. Shan84: That was very high praise indeed; I feel I have been SAINTED! Strangely, I have never mentioned to anyone on 3FC that I have a lot of faith but I do. Faith is the most important weapon in my spiritual arsenal; it can move mountains and does. ;) Cape Breton Chic: Thank you for those sweet words, what I wrote about you is what I see. I saw your birthday and did you know you were born the same day as my mother. I don't believe in the zodiac signs of course. I was just reflecting how they aren't even close, because my mom is very very reserved, the perfect southern lady and you are fiery, loyal to a fault, compassionate, a doer and a Canadian! LOL ;) I woke up last night and eat a bag of potoato chip and chocolate, I had bought them thinking I could restain my TOM craves with just a few, I was SADLEY wrong.... Who was I fooling not me because I eat them, but I did lose 1 of the 4 pounds I gained from TOM. I am waiting until tomorrow to post in the hopes I can break even. MonteCristo 10-18-2009, 03:51 PM Hi Ladies! Sorry I haven't been around this weekend, but I've been struggling with the flu. I'm about to post the exercise challenge for next week. Because I was sick I didn't have a chance to come up with something totally innovated, but it should give us all something to shoot for. ETA - Oh, and I will post a new chat thread for us Monday morning. I get in to work around 7am (central), so it should be up shortly after that. Aclai4067 10-18-2009, 05:22 PM 1. My hair, it's taken me a long time to accept my hair as it is prone to becoming a frizzy mess. But it takes styling well, when I take the time to do it. 2. I want to be happy with my appearance. In my youth I desired the supermodel ideal that so many young girls are plagued with today. But these days I see the beauty in normal women, and I look forward to achieving a healthy (but still curvy;)) body. 3. Mindy- you have such dedication. Last week you said you mantra is "never quit" which, as we all know, sounds much easier than it is. You've made such great progress (2/3 of the way to your goal)!! And you set a great example to everyone else that we can push through the highs and lows to find success. dcapulet 10-18-2009, 05:35 PM 1. Because I am so determined, I will train hard and I think I will make it! Aclai - I admit, I don't know much about you. But I read your posts, and you seem to be very encouraging and motivational, not only to others, but to yourself. So I say kudos to you!! I ran my first 5k today :) My time was 51:25, in the rain, snow, and shore winds. So not the best time ever, but I don't care!! It felt great to finish!! Sunnigummi 10-18-2009, 06:23 PM Hi all, sorry I've been MIA. I'm too embarrassed to come on here and admit I haven't done any exercise in the last two weeks and I've been over my calories that whole time as well. Blah. Now I've said it. I'm going to be taking a freebie this week (my first!) so I can focus on getting back on track. I went for a 3.3 mile walk today and jogged 0.25 miles of it. Tomorrow I plan on just walking and then doing Jillian's 30 Day Shred Level 1 Day 1. I feel better since I did go this morning instead of talking myself out of it like I have been doing. Once I was out there, I felt awesome! How odd, I can talk myself out of exercising so easily, but talking myself into it?? Herculean feat! ;) Anyway, just wanted to check in with you guys and say that even though I haven't been posting, I have been reading posts. Just been too ashamed as above. :^: 1. I think we should each write something about ourselves that we love, physically I love my jawline. Now that the extra fat is gone, it's nice and sharp, just like I've always admired in the magazines. 2. Then write something you want to strive for and obtain then write something positive about yourself that makes up your person that will help you to reach that goal I would like to be able to run a 5K without giving up. Even though my commitment isn't that strong, I know that my endurance level for walking/jogging is high so I could accomplish this goal relatively quickly. 3. Then write something positive and encouraging about the last person who posted I think dcapulet has a gorgeous face, with victorian features (red lips, pale skin, etc). Congrats on the 5K! IgetfitNStrongforme 10-18-2009, 06:37 PM I ran my first 5k today :) My time was 51:25, in the rain, snow, and shore winds. So not the best time ever, but I don't care!! Do you last night I woke up and eat a whole bag of potato chips and 2 bars of chocolate but I came here and posted and got encouragement, that's what your team mates are here for. There is need to take a freebie week, am not and TOM is about to start I am up 3 pounds, but next week I'll have great week. RUN ON! IgetfitNStrongforme 10-18-2009, 07:29 PM FROM PREVENTION MAGAZINE Drink up! Water is your weight loss ally. Your body needs to be properly hydrated to metabolize fat and keep your systems running optimally. Water is the best fluid for the job. When University of North Carolina researchers reviewed the eating habits of nearly 5,000 Americans, they found that those who drank about 7 cups of water a day ate 200 fewer calories than those who drank less than a glass a day. Water-phobes were also more likely to chow down more high-fat foods and drank twice as many soft drinks as clear-liquid lovers. What's more, water can kick-start your metabolism. German researchers recently discovered that about 2 cups of ice water can raise metabolism by 30 percent for 90 minutes. Aclai4067 10-18-2009, 08:02 PM thanks dcapulet sunnigummi- welcome back! I just got back I feel ya on it being hard to make yourself exercise. I just got back into the gym on Thursday after a very inconsistent 2 weeks. igetfit- thanks for the info. Guess maybe I should try putting some ice in my water. I've been drinking mostly room temp water all weekend for no reason other than the water bottle I'm using doesn't have a wide enough mouth for ice. It's so hard for me to get enough water during the work week since I usually can only get to the bathroom once, if at all, at most schools Looks like we have a good challenge starting up this week. Good to see some of you ladies back. Anyone lurking and not checking in, please come join us! IgetfitNStrongforme 10-18-2009, 08:28 PM igetfit- thanks for the info. After my potato chip and chocolate fiasco last night and reading that tip I got up and drank two glasses of ice water! I always hated having to get up and go because everyone would turn and look. But still try because in Jillian Michaels book Master Your Metabolism she says it is necessary for weight loss. Yes anyone lurking come check in and say hi. MonteCristo 10-18-2009, 08:33 PM It looks like we are off to a nice start with Week 6's Exercise Challenge. We already have IGetFitNStrongforme, Aclai067, dcapulet, sunnigummi & Primm (aside from myself, like I could start a challenge and not join in?) Some of our ladies have even signed up for way more than 10% (you go girls!). Now we just need the rest of you! Aclai4067 10-18-2009, 08:40 PM Well I'm not a student, I'm a teacher, so I can't leave the classroom. That's the bathroom problem. Anyhow, I'm editing the calories/points into the stuffed chicken recipe now for you ladies. shan84 10-18-2009, 08:52 PM Aclai- I totally sympathize with your situation. I myself, am teaching right now too. This month I am teaching a marine/science class. I have been able to incorporate my drinking water into the class routine by having students tell me the difference between water in my cup(that I sip on while I get them thinking) and the water in the ocean. It helps that every class has a 10 minute break in between classes and I usually rush to the bathroom on the 1st floor during that time. P.S. I'm signed up for the week 6 challenge as well. This is a perfect challenge for me this week because it will be TOM for me. I'm determined to do great because I tend to lose more during TOM week. Woohoo! Sunnigummi 10-18-2009, 09:06 PM Yay guys! Thanks for being so understanding. I guess I'm just hard on myself because I used to be with the whole eating and exercising thing just a few weeks ago and I tend to have perfectionist attitudes. Anyway, I'm really revved for this week's challenge!! :carrot:Go Red Team!!!:carrot: We need to kick butt again! :D Cape Breton Chick 10-18-2009, 09:22 PM I agree.. I am super excited for this challenge this week!!.. and a lil FYI ...lol I did a 1hr and 45min hike today.. so pumped about that.. was gorgeous weather out and I felt so blessed to live in a place where I am able to hike along the river in the mountains and come out the other end on the beach of the Atlantic ocean and hike the remaining 45min up the beach... absolutely gorgeous!! And thank you IgetFit again,,,, and yes I do not believe in the zodiacs ethier, but I must say I do not hear of many people sharing my b-day so that made me smile.. Just want to say Way to Go to everyone... you girls are so incredible.. you are all kickin some butt and rawkin it out.. :grouphug: and may God bless IgetfitNStrongforme 10-18-2009, 10:11 PM MonteCristo: See you challenge and they will come! LOL I hope you are feeling better. Primm: We have all start there! LOL! I myself started with 30minutes a day everyday and worked my way up. Again :welcome: back!!! I am glad you are joining in. Aclai4067: I can't wait,I am making your stuffed chicken breast Thursday night. I didn't know you were a teacher, what do you teach? We have a lot of teachers, Shan84, KimL1214, Cape Breton Chic and you! Shan84: See you are a Super Rock Star because I and most gain weight during TOM, but of course you would loss weight during TOM because you're a Rock Star! SHAN84 the Offical ROCK STAR of the Red Team! Sunni: I tend to be a perfectionist as well, but I had to change my thinking because I not perfect, no one is. If I were perfect I would never have gotten overweight. No let's kick some blue butt this week! Cape Breton Chic: The home of Anne of Green Gables...I have always wanted to go visit there it sounds like God kissed the island "I am able to hike along the river in the mountains and come out the other end on the beach of the Atlantic ocean " Yeah heaven! I only have concrete, draught, smoke from fires, buildings and more smog from all the cars! Cape Breton... check it out! http://cbisland.com/index2.php Bette k 10-18-2009, 10:53 PM Hi Red Team, Sorry I haven't been around much the last few weeks. I believe that I did say at the begining of the challenge that for these 3 weeks I would not be around much. My Son who is in the military was home after being out of the country for the last year. He left today, and will be stationed only about 250 miles away, at least for a while. Also my father is battling cancer, he has decided that he will not have surgery, and will just let it mostly take it's course will non invaseive treatments. It will be fatal. I'm not complaining, just explaining why I'm not here very much lately, I'm not posting anywhere. I've been off program the last 3 weeks too, with Jon home I've been making his favorites and eating with him. Last night was a big wedding reception for my nephew and his wife so we partied till late. I just drank water, but did eat some cake along with the meal which wasn't very bad, diet wise. Sorry for the long post, and I'm going to spend this week getting back on point and working hard. Hope everyone has a great week. Bette K MonteCristo 10-18-2009, 11:46 PM shan84 - I'm so sorry I missed you on the challenge. Totally my bad. :kickbutt: We've also been joined by Cape Brenton Chick and tinabinab. Good job ladies! Primm - Always look forward. You can't change what you did yesterday, but you can make a difference today. I'm sure you'll do great this week. Alcai - The bathroom breaks are a serious downside to drinking enough water. Sometimes I wonder what my coworkers think about me. shan84 - You lose doing TOM?!? That isn't fair. I'm lucky not to gain 3lbs. I managed to squeeze out a measly 0.4lb loss this week with TOM, but I was also sick with the flu for two days and haven't eaten enough to keep a bird alive. I'm totally jealous. sunnigummi - Perfectionism can be a great tool, or an enormous liability. You just have to figure out how to balance it all out (I know, easier said than done). Just don't give up, your team is here for you. Cape Brenton Chick - Hiking can change exercise from tedium into a great adventure. I'm glad you have a fantastic place to hike! BetteK - I'm so sorry about your father. It must be a great consolation for you to have your son back in this country, even if he isn't as near as you would like. Remember never to feel bad about starting over, giving up is the only unforgivable offense. RangerChic 10-19-2009, 02:38 AM Shannon: I wish even though you are stepping aside as our team leader, that you would hang out for a while and a little share. Sorry, I used to be very active on the boards, but the time just isn't there. It is good for me though...my future is heading right where I want it to go. I just have a lot of work to do to reach it. :) Thanks everyone. I will try to pop in and post when I can. I'm also pretty much at the weight that I am going to be. I wanted to lose another 5lbs, but not looking like it's going to happen. That's okay though, I feel great and am looking better than I have ever before. This board is awesome and I love everyone. Me stepping down and not being around has nothing to do with anything but lack of time. :hugs: dcapulet 10-19-2009, 02:41 AM sunni - thank you so much! such a compliment... on coming back to post. you should never be embarrassed of you. things happen. we understand! igetfit: thanks. :) monte: thanks for the challenge and the veggie dance. i think pre winter slump is trying to trap some of us (me) :cheer: red team!
