It was so motivating to see the replies to my call for help. I checked around before choosing a forum to post on - I remember this site from years ago - I'd heard about it then.

I think I'm going to try the calorie counting and exercise. I do have a gym membership (long in limbo I'm afraid!). I've been paying for it, so I may as well use it! It's getting pretty cold here - we had 2 weeks of Fall this year and it was warm - prior to that a hot, hot Sept. with highs around 34C (that's in the 90's in F).

Walking used to be something I really loved. I might get myself some good warm clothes and get out and walk - and new running shoes.

So....Fitday I'll look at for sure. Thanks for the tip. I've been thinking calorie counting only because I believe I do know what I should eat (as someone said), so I should be able to do it.

Do any of you eat Lean Cuisine or similar or do you stay away from them due to sodium content?

Looking forward to getting to know all of you and I know with your help I can do as well as all of you have already done!

Thanks very much!

Tracy

I'm new to this site as well and yes everyone has been awesome :D

I've been on WW the last few months and it seems to be working...trust me, I've been up and down in weight my entire life. I also walk 2 miles, 5x a week. I'd love to join a gym but just don't have the money for it right now. So I'm a little nervous about what I'm going to do when it becomes to cold outside. I did find an exercise channel through my cable and seems there are lots of choices there, so I'm hopeful :)

Best of luck to you in whatever plan you choose...You deserve to live a happy, healthy life!

Yes to the cold - I'm wishing that the weather was still warmer so that I can walk. I sure procrastinated about the walking for a long time - but that's me, and I'm going to say that's the OLD me!

Gym - I've been a member at my gym (a women only gym + a connecting co-ed gym) for years and I was given a rate that can never go up. When I think about all the years I didn't use it - no savings there!

Anyway, good for you for getting out and walking and doing WW. Do you go to WW or are you doing it alone at home? I decided I wasn't going to spend any more money on weight loss programs, at least until I get my head into this.

Thanks for the reply - keep it going!

I'm not much of a cook and my DH can be very picky. Early on I ate Lean Cuisines frequently; especially after the first of the year when I could get them on sale for under $1.50. I still eat a couple a week because they are convenient.

I try to always keep cooked chicken in the fridge for use in wraps, omelets, and salads.... pretty much the staple to my diet. I also fix big batches of chili, stir fry, and soups to put in single serving containers in the freezer. These are great for take to work lunches.

Come join us on the 40 something weekly chats. It's a great way to get to know some of us better and us you.

I sometimes go for the Lean Pockets when I'm in the mood for hot lunch.

Think I'm going to make extra stir fry, etc. and freeze those for work - that's such a good idea.

Lean Cuisine will still be in the menu occasionally though as it is convenient. We have a brand in Canada from Superstore that are en papillotte (which is food wrapped in paper and sealed) that are so good and are about 200 - 250 calories - those are really great.

thanks again
