i went to the gym today, i didn't even want to be there but i made myself stay. i didn't get the usual highs i do after working out. i know my endorphins are working but dang, this time i left there as low as what i went in.

i'm going to make myself go back tomorrow.

I know its hard, cuz I've been there to, but the worst thing for being depressed is staying in bed all day like we really want to do - congratulations on getting out of the house and into the gym. You are strong or you wouldn't be still trying. You can do this!

Yes, you can do this. I agree depression can make it very difficult to do most anything. Are you taking any fish oil? Are you able to get sunshine and are you sticking to whole foods. I do have some depression and I only ask you these things because it's what has helped me the most. You are definitely doing the right thing as far as going back to the gym. I definitely have to fake it until I make it at times. In the beginning, it was several months actually of faking it. I imagined the life of what a "healthy" person did. So, I started doing that every day--straightening my house, grooming myself, eating health giving foods, sleeping reasonable hours. It worked. There are days I still struggle but it's much better than before.

YOU CAN DO THIS!

I thought I was alone in feeling so depressed that I had no energy to go exercise today. I am glad you did exercise. I didn't do any exercise today. I was too emotionally tired.

I too know exactly how you feel. I have belonged to 3 different gyms, but my depression kept me from going on any kind of a regular basis. I always just wanted to stay in bed or find some yummy comfort food. I usually felt better once I was exercising, but finding the emotional energy to go do it was so hard.

Kudos to you for going! You can do this! Just take it one day at a time.:sunny::sunny::sunny:

Congratulations for going to the gym and sticking it out! I am battling with depression too and know how difficult it is some days just to put one foot in front of the other.

You can do this! :)

This is helped me too. Even though I am way bigger than I would like to be, I've started dressing better (as a fashion design major, I really need to stay on this) and going out even when I feel like holing myself up in my apartment all day. It's so easy to tailspin and fall into a downward spiral, but you have to remember that you can control your mood to some degree. You're not letting depression beat you now, keep going!

One of my favorite quotes is “the only time you fail is when you give up”. Depression is certainly a big obstacle that is in our battle. You can do it!
