Exercise! - For All You Seasoned Lifters...I need help!

So I new to the whole lifing weights thing. I need to know how many times a week is a good time to start lifting. Do you lift for so many reps for so much time? I am completely lost on how this works...:?: Any tips of advice would be appreciated!

My advice is to read the New Rules of Lifting for women. Body for Life is also a good book to read.
