thanks Mary for making a week 4 chat thread!

just moved my messages here :)

Hi Diva. It must be somewhat worrisome to have H1N1 in your house with all the publicity buzzing around. But remember for most people it will be no worse than seasonal flu. Keep washing your hands and eating well. Stay away from sugar to keep your immune system running in top notch condition. And eat as well as you can to keep healthy.

I'm doing the Week 4 challenge and drinking all this water has me peeing all day long.

great advice given

---

ref water intake: lol tell me about it! i calculated that i spent a total of 1 hour in the bathroom over the course of the day!! the reason i know this. is cause i have my ipod in my bathroom attached to two small speakers, when i get ready in the morning, brushing my teeth, washing my face etc, i like to listen to the jillian michales radio show. i actually wake up listening to it! she is awesome.

and then yesterday i pushed play on jillian's podcast everytime i entered my bathroom , so i listened to a whole hour show over the course of the day. lol at like 5 minute increments hahaha

Good afternoon Blue Team. Hope everyone is having a good day. I'm getting ready for Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend. Thanksgiving is on Monday but we're having our meal on Saturday as everyone will be travelling back home on Monday. We're having the kids and their spouses and our darling baby grandson and a few outlaws as well, hahaha. We've invited our DIL's family as well so there'll be a crowd for sure. Lot's of cooking and baking going on this week. But I must not capitulate and eat the goodies until Saturday when I'll have dessert. Sorry about that burst of emotion.

Catch you all later.

Hello chickies! Well, I think my cutting calories has been worth it, the scale is back on the way down, 177.8 this morning. How it crept back up to 180 I don't know, but I beat it down and won :)

I wish my workouts were going better, I've been achy lately, but back to walking/jogging tonight. I might even have enough in me to do some JM's video too. Skipping days makes it hard to stay in a groove, so I need to keep myself going, even if it's a little bit every day.

Hope everyone is having a great day!!!

Mercy, awesome job on reaching your goals for today!

Echo, lol about knowing how much time you spent in the bathroom. Seriously though, that's great that you are listening to Jillian's radio show!

Mary, I weigh myself daily too, and it sure sucks when it shows a gain overnight. But I guess it all evens out in the end. I bet you see it go down again soon.

Good GOOD MORNING BLUE TEAM. IT'S THURSDAY MORNING. WAKE UP. GET OUT OF BED. GET ON THE MOVE. SHAKE THINGS UP. THE WEEK IS ALMOST OVER!!!!!

OK, I'm finished shouting and waking everyone up. :D The old saying says something like this, "A whistling woman and a crowing hen are neither fit for God nor man." Well, I whistle also. :D

I can't believe it's Thursday already. The week is almost over and the weekend is looming on the horizon. What can we do to make it a really healthy and on plan weekend? For me, and my fellow Canadians, it's Thanksgiving weekend and for my American friends it's Columbus Day weekend and in Mexico it's Dia de la Raza (Columbus Day) so everyone's got a long weekend in North America. Even if you work on the weekend and holiday Monday there's going to be loads of food around. So let's make a plan to stay on plan as much as possible.

For me, I'm having one free day as I always do on the weekend but I'm planning on not eating buttered vegetables and loads of mashed potatoes and gravy. And I have a hike planned, weather permitting.

What are the rest of you planning?

thank you :)

LMAO!!!!! thats hilarious!!! :Di never thought of it like that !! by golly i think you're right!! ;)

come to think of it - my supervisors did compliment me that i was very meticulous when it came to data analysis and doing my experiments.:dizzy:

and now its almost like i'm treating myself as a test subject hahahahahhaha seeing what works , what doesnt work with regards to calorie counting., losing weight.

i think its something to do with the fact that when i was studying, i felt out of control, like i didnt know what the outcome would be of my final defence. so the one thing i could control was my calorie counting and the amount of exercise and calories burned. i felt like whilst the rest of my life was out of control, this was the one thing i could have power over. like even now- i gotta make minor amendments to my thesis and its abit stressful. so i like being able to monitor what is going on with me body wise.

haha i feel like this is a therapy session, and you're my therapist lol

oh and i once heard paul mckenna talk about WHAT GETS MEASURED - GETS DONE... which is so true. so i use it in all aspects of my life.

there was this one study (i think), that people who monitor the number of steps they take (for eg) take MORE steps, than those that dont.

also i heard jillian talk about, how when you're exercising, treat it like a game. like last time, you ran X number of minutes, this time, try to beat that.... or go abit faster than last time.

i really love learning about the whole phenomenon of weight loss, metabolism etc. it really fascinates me and i'm really passionate about it! :book2:

It's me again. I'm busy making food for Saturday's big dinner. Here's a new recipe for you. Canadian Thanksgiving is on Monday and next month is the American Thanksgiving and sweet potato is usually on the menu. Most of the sweet potato casserole recipes are like a very rich pie without the crust. And the gooey marshmallow toppings on some of them are just out of the question for many reasons. So here's a nice "clean" sweet potato casserole that I'm making for the big dinner.

Sweet Potato Casserole
4 large sweet potatoes, cooked and sliced
1 large can crushed or tidbits or chunks unsweetened pineapple, lightly drained
1/2 chopped pecans
cinnamon
nutmeg
2 tablespoons brown sugar or sweetener of choice

Layer half sweet potatoes, pineapple and 1 tablespoon brown sugar in Pam sprayed casserole. Sprinkle lightly with cinnamon and nutmeg. Repeat layer. Top with the chopped pecans bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes until bubbling.

The original recipe had 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup butter, 2 sliced bananas, rum, and about 1 cup of macadamia nuts. So as you can see the above recipe is really scaled down calorie wise but will taste really good.

Diva, glad your boy is on the mend. You'll soon be out of quarantine.

Hey ladies! Are we all ladies on this team? I think so!! :)

Diva I'm glad to hear about your son getting better, and it looks like you don't have it, so that's great!

The site was totally acting up yesterday, I got nervous I downloaded a virus on accident or something!

This morning I had a donut AND a bagel! People brought BOTH into work! But I am going to make them fit into my cals for the day, I had 80 cals of tuna for lunch and am just going to have about a chicken breast for dinner, as well as some pickles and salad. I'm determined to make it work.

It sucks around these times of year when people bring out the Halloween candy, I can't stand it! I pray that they always bring in the candy I hate, but these days, there isn't much I won't eat.

Isn't it funny how being on a diet opens your eyes up to trying new things, and then loving them? Because you restrict yourself a lot, you venture out of your comfort taste realm and try new things...

I used to hate bitter greens, now they're fantastic... same with cottage cheese, pico de gallo, various things.

But the same goes the other way around. I used to hate cake donuts, you know the dense ones with the sprinkles? And I would never resort to eating them because if all there were in the office were cake donuts nothing stopped me from picking up whatever I wanted on a break or lunch or after work!

But NOW: if there is a cake donut left in the office, it's CALLING to me. Because I won't let myself go pick up a treat, but if something is sitting right in front of me, and even if it's never been a liked treat of mine, it tempts me so much! Am I making sense??!

Haha, I think I had too much coke zero at lunch today.

Just checking in real quick to say hi! Hope you are all doing great.

I'm struggling with all the events around the wedding and whatnot. Two more sleeps! I'm trying to be reasonable but enjoy this time. I will be back on plan 100% when we come back form our honeymoon, and we'll just see what happens in the meantime.

To all the Canadian chicks - have a great Thanksgiving this weekend!

That could have been my post yesterday. I was starving all day. Once I got home I kind of lost it and had jelly krimpets and then 1/2 bag of flavored mini rice cakes. But I did fit it into my cals. I made ww soup for dinner and ate only that. I ended up at 1600 for the day.

Ditto on the trying different things while dieting. I used to cringe at cc but now I love it. I mix it up to get all the lumps out and add equal and cinnamon to it.

So, the scale are stuck.:( Dreaded BL week 2? Yeah, I know that it's technically week 3, but it's really my week 2. ;) But, I'm pushing on.

This weeks challenge has done the above for me. I now have taken control of every morsel that I put into my mouth and every step that I take.

Thanks for that Echo!:D

I'm really busy today getting ready for tomorrow's dinner. I've read all the posts, though (never too busy for that) and see that things are under control in the Blue Team.

I'm loving the challenge, too. It just reminded me I haven't had a drop of water in my body yet--orange juice and milk but no water. Must go guzzle at the faucet.

I weigh in tomorrow but may not get to post here until Sunday but who knows, I may get a moment of peace. But our baby GS will be here and I think he'll occupy any down time.

Take care and have a good weekend.

Hi Blusers, Happy Thanksgiving to my Northern-est Bluesers!

Marianne - Special thoughts to you on this very special weekend!

Just dropping in to update that I'm still on-plan, but the stupid scales are resisting my efforts! I'm just about ready to kick them to the curb. But, I won't use food to make myself feel better this weekend. I must stay busy.
Tomorrow morning, I'm planning a photography session at a nearby waterfall. I just found out that there is a lovely 20 foot waterfall about 10 minutes from my house. This is a well kept secret. Other than church on Sunday, I have no fun plans Maybe I'll re-arrange a few closets and drawers and catch up on my boatload of DVR'd shows.

Have a great on-plan weekend! :cheer3:

Sweet - WAHOO!!

Hi team!

Congratulations!!! :congrat:

I'm having a ridiculously busy weekend, so I'll hav eot catch up on personals on Monday, but I just wanted to apologize for the gain last week and a gain this week. It's been a bad week, running from place to place... no time for exercise and eating real food. I'm fighting the urge to just drop out, but I'm hoping that this is it for crappy weeks. Hopefully on Monday I can get back on track... but I said that last week. :(

Hi ladies! Apparently I only get enough time to check in once a week, so sorry for the lack of personals! At least I made it thru this week's thread... :) I posted my weight just now since, um...we took the kiddos out for pizza & random junk buffet for the afternoon. We've got a 3yr old and a 5yr old (who missed 3 days of school this week due to vomitting and 102.9 fever), and they've been begging to go since March. DH was finally home on a Saturday, and since my 5 yr old was finally feeling better we decided to splurge. Ugh. I'm sure I've gained a few pounds - even just looking at that stuff makes me gain. Oh well. The kids had a great time, and are completely worn out from the arcade (part of the facility...kinda like a HUGE Chuck E Cheese but w/plenty of stuff for adults too). So I think that means they'll go to bed early tonight so DH and I can rent a movie! Yippee! Anyway, this morning I was down 2.4 from last weigh in, so I figured I'd grab it while I could! Hehehe! Hope everyone is doing well, staying healthy, and just enjoying life!

Hey Blue Team! :cheer3:

Today was my weigh in, and I'm happy to report i have a 1.1 lb loss! :goodscale

so all that calorie counting and calculations paid off lol. i am especially pleased, because i was nervous i would either gain or not lose anything at all, cause i've been quite sick this week, with a painful sorethroat, and so i wasnt able to work out as hard as i would have normally. so i'm very happy with 1 lb loss :) :broc:

even yesterday my scale hadn't budged, so yesterday i was beginning to doubt myself, but still kept pushing onwards... it was only today that it finally moved!!

total calorie deficient this week (6 days) from both foodwise and exercise was 6619 calories =so a predicted mathematical loss of 1.89 lbs loss and in reality, i saw a 1.1lb loss :)

i'm also very happy, that my BMI is now 25!!! yippeee :) and i broke through the 160 barrier!! i just have to maintain it this week and keep going!
I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to everyone on the blue team! without you guys, i wouldnt have had the motivation to keep pushing myself and stay on track and be motivated to lose the weight!!

THANK YOU!!!

Go blue team!!! :cheer3:

starting weight was - 160.9lbs
current weight is - 159.8 lbs
pounds loss = 1.1 lbs
percentage weight loss = 0.68%

good luck everyone for your weigh in tommorow!!

taking the day off tommorow, to run a couple of errands and treat myself to a cinema trip, havent been for ages!! :) so looking forward to that. and now i have even more reason to treat myself , i had said to myself when i reach a bmi of 25 i would treat myself some what :)

Hi Blue Team,
I hope all is well and the week went great for everyone. I am being very bad now and I just copy and pasted from my entry on the Oct weight loss challange. I would just repeat myself anyway so here it is. I hope everyone has a loss this week...Good Luck!!

Hello again,
I'm back from my conference and it was very good and lots of new info. I called the store when I got back and the lab is still standing so all good there too. I gained at Whistler on the last couple days, I was so good and avoided all desserts for the first 2 days and then gave in for the last 2. But I was good and only had 1 each day.
When I weighed in when I got back I was up 2.2lbs but this morning for weigh in I actually lost that and more for a total loss for the week of 1.4lbs:carrot:

It was not to fun coming home to the snow here in Calgary though ugh I'm just not ready yet. I can take the cold but the idiots behind the wheel are another thing.

I went to my brothers today to celebrate Thanksgiving and I did well with the eating but I did bring home a small piece of pecan/pumpkin pie for later. I told myself it was okay and tomorrow I have to decide if I want anything (to go out) for my birthday. I really want to go to the cheesecake for...you guessed it cheesecake but luckily for me I have to do laundry tomorrow and I may just be to lazy to do both

Well that's about it for now I still haven't caught up on all the posts yet so no personals. Sorry about that. I hope you all have a great day and Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadians.

 Hi, everyone! I have missed like a week here and have gone through a real turning point in my life. I was so pressured by everyone at home whenever i would workout or cook my own healthier meals that I had just made up my mind not to do it now and just look after my family. this is what happens every single time I try to lose weight, I feel like I don't have time and put it off for "when everyone doens't need me so much."

Well, it hit me yesterday that there is never going to come a time when everyone is not depending on me because I take care of everyone and put them before myself and they know that! SO, I decided that I am NOT doing it again! I sat my hubby down and told him I will be exercising and I will be making healthier meals and if he doesn't like what I cook he is free to make himself something else. He was okay with it, mostly because he is going back in the truck today and won't be here all the time anyway.

anyway, I feel this brave sense of confidence and power that I didn't have other times I tried this. I have officially put myself first and it felt realy good!

I'm not going to try to catch up here completely, but wanted everyone to know I am back and feel stronger than ever :strong: I feel I have turned a corner of some sort where I finally decided I am doing this, it is MY time, and everyone else can just get in line behind me with their needs and wants. I have never, ever done taht before, but I am right now.

Hooray for you! I think that is probably most women's story or at least most mom's story. We give all we have (and we r expected to, at that) until there is nothing left for us. So glad you came to this realization. If you don't take care of you first it makes it really hard to give you all to anyone. Glad you are feeling empowered!

Dixied, did say last week she was really busy at work so I hope that's all that is happening.

I've read all the posts but I've had a really tiring weekend cooking and entertaining for Thanksgiving. It was a great weekend though. I overate on Saturday when we had our big meal but on Sunday I was back on the plan even though we had a family fun day at church with a potluck. I didn't touch any dessert and ate sensibly all day long. I even squeezed in a short bike ride last night while watching TV.

Does anyone have a challenge for the Blue Team this week? I'm not actually offering one, , as I'm drawing a blank right now but maybe someone has a burning issue to post up as a challenge.

Well, tonight is our big weigh in dead-line so don't forget to post your weight before tonight.

Hey blues ~ just got home from my 1st ever bootcamp exercise thingy. I am SOOO FRIGGIN OUTTA SHAPE. I dont know how people do it. I seriously could not do one more squat or curl or leg lift. My body stopped working like 1/2 way through each exercise. What gives? I guess I just keep showing up and it will get better. God, I hope so! Also thinking it will lead to a good weigh in next week as I haven't pushed myself at exercise in months. We'll see!

Nixmom WTG for the first day of bootcamp I think as you go it will be easier and you will complete all the exercises. I would love to find a bootcamp out here too. Thanks for the YAY for birthdays.

Thanks to everyone for being supportive. I know I am doing the right thing for myself and I have some guilt about it, but I keep pushing it off and reminding myself it is better for everyone in the end, you all are SO right about that!

Hubby is gone today and I feel strong that I can do this. It's easier when he's not here every single day turning on his stupid deep fryer making all his yummiest foods...he can really cook, but I wish he'd use those skills for good rather than evil.

On a happy note...I have gone down a point on my waist to hip ratio! Yay! Now I just need to do that 6 more times to be at a healthy weight, so says Jillian :)

Here's to starting over again. Had a horrible weekend. Just couldn't/didn't stop eating crap. It was like it was calling to me constantly. I'm really getting tired of the yo-yoing up and down but then on the other hand maybe I don't want it bad enough. It's like I really love it when I am doing what I am suppose to be doing, I feel happy and confident that I can do it and the Wham! I sabotage myself by going totally off plan. Then I get depressed and start to think I am never going to do this. I have been on a diet since I was about 26 (after my last baby, now I'm 43) and I am only about 20 lbs lighter for almost 20 years of work! It is just depressing. I guess I'm kind of hoping something will go off in my head and I will finally get it right. kwim. Alright I'm done with the pity party. Hopefully today will be better.

I guess I'm kind of hoping something will go off in my head and I will finally get it right. kwim. Yes I know exactly what you mean. I've battled being overweight since puberty and I'm now 4. Sometimes, I get really tired of the constant struggle with my mind, but the alternative isn't something I can live with. I refuse to settle for being fat. Therefore, I keep trying. Hang in there. Others have conquered this and we can too.
