I saved a dress from the 90's when I lost weight on phen phen. It was the smallest dress that I have worn in the last 25 years. On a whim I tried it on tonight. I was surprised when the sleeves slid over my arms. I was shocked when I started buttoning the front. I about fainted when I finished buttoning it and stood in front of the mirror. It fit!!!!!

I really did not expect it to fit. My weight loss has really slowed down but I have been seeing changes to my body for a couple of weeks and I just wanted to see how tight it was. Totally surprised when it fit.

I will never wear it in public as it is out of style and pretty shabby looking but it was such a wonderful moment when I realized that it fit. I am kind of in shock. I have gotten down to my previous smallest size. I am on the verge of getting smaller than that. It is hard to believe that this is happening.

Thank you, ya'll. It is good to have a community of people who understand and support this. When I tried the dress on, I excitedly rushed in to show my husband and got a very flat "That is good." He just didn't get it.

I think that I am most pleased because I have done this without diet pills. I have lost weight in the past but always with diet pills. I don't want to lie, when I started this over a year ago, I took the pills two weeks a month for two months to help me get started. I put them aside because I wanted permanent weight loss. It would be better to take off 20 pounds slowly that I could keep off then to lose 100 rapidly with the pills and then put it plus more right back on. I did not really believe that I could lose as much as I have.

I feel much more confident that I can keep this weight off because I have lost it in a manner that I can continue. Permanent changes.

Thanks for sharing my excitement!

Oh Cheryl, that is fabulous! I can totally relate to how you feel about that dress. I have a dress that I bought in '93 that I never wore. It was a size 12 and I loved it when I saw it. I thought buying it would motivate me to lose the weight. It hung in my closet taunting me until this last year. When I finally fit into it I was so excited. I wore it once. It has the huge shoulder pads, I took them out, but then the shoulders were way too big. It was pretty funny. It soon moved into the too large pile and I need to get rid of it. It was like my Mt. Everest.
Congrat's to you on fitting into the dress! I definitely think you should wear it at least once, just to prove you can! Then go out and buy something new that you love even more!

Isn't that just the best feeling? I have a dress saved that I am eager to fit into as well, I can't wait for that day.

You can take a picture of yourself in that dress for evidence/posterity and then give it away. Having proof to remind yourself of your achievement is important!

Congrats! I have these horrible high waisted, checked, large cuffed, huge buttoned pants from the 90s that I have kept just because I am determined that they will fit. After I have gotten into them I plan on cutting them into squares because the checked pattern would look good as part of a quilt (that tells you how bad it is). I also have an absolutely horrid tie-dyed blouse. I loved it once. I am going to fit into it again and then I am going to throw it away because nobody should have to wear it, lol.

Congratulations! That's awesome.

Be sure to update us with the feeling of when it's too big!

I love it when clothes that looked so small that wearing them again seemed like a dream, and then WHAM there you are in front of the mirror with it on. I have an entire small closet filled with clothes that still have tags on them from when I was "going to" lose weight. So, it can happen! Yeh~It's possible:D

I agree with thisstoo A new dress is definitely deserved right now! :congrats:
