Good morning, all. I'm borrowing an idea from the 300+ section. I need a weekly WI -- anyone care to join me? I'm going to WI on Fridays but feel free to substitute your own dates if you want to.

I'm just going to edit my numbers in.

This'll take us through to the end of 2009. Let's look fabulous for New Years, shall we?

Well, WI sucked, to put it bluntly. Sick all week and that so often causes problems. On top of Thanksgiving celebrations. And I stopped daily weigh-ins, which so often leads to things getting out of hands. Nevertheless, it is the day of reckoning and reckon I shall. Plus vow to have a better week next week. :yes:

I do a weigh in and a measurement - makes me feel better to see inches gone if i haven't lost pounds lol :)

Still haven't gotten rid of last bump-up, although I had a much better week. And I'm going to be away the next two Fridays but I'll be working hard while I'm away and hope to have a good loss for Nov. 13.

This is getting frustrating. Stayed on plan this week at about 1200 calories/day and was at the gym five times including two hour body sculpting classes and a Zumba! class. My new scale which weighs in .2 increments comes today - hope it doesn't show a higher weight! Also thinking of trying low-carb for a few weeks to see if I can FINALLY break 150.

The low-carb is really doing it - I started on Sunday. It's weird - I actually have to really try to get my calories in, because all the foods I love and crave have carbs. Thinking about trying this through the end of November or so to see what happens(although I have to make an exception for T'giving, because that is the one day a year I eat stuffing and mashed potatoes and sweet potato casserole. Will have to watch my portions or get incredibly ill).

Anagram - this week WILL be better for you! I totally understand the up and down thing and the frustration.

I am such a geek. I was getting so impatient with the board this morning because I couldn't wait to update my numbers! Only .8 lbs. from my 10-lb reward, which I have decided will be a massage.

The low-carb is getting tougher, and Thanksgiving will be a challenge. I am giving myself permission to taste everything, because this is stuff I only eat once a year. But I have some time off from work, so I'll get in some extra workouts.

Arabella - a 3 lb loss after such a wonderful vacation is great. I know you exercises a lot but you must have been terrifically vigilant.

I am taking Releana yes, but you can see the weightloss is slowing down alot. I am actually stopping the medicine for Christmas and will just workout and count calories. Counting calories, I am naturally a good eater, didn't work before because I naturaly don't eat enough, but alas I will try try again. I've been starving this week and its TOM but am anxious to see what I lose for my Sunday weigh in (Friday is my birthday so I'm having sushi which is cheating and hummus/pita chips and choc stra. friday).

Hang in there, Anagram! Just continuing to weigh in every week helps, I firmly believe. My weight gain could become astronomical in no time if I was not, somewhere, somehow, held accountable. Too easy to stop weighing in, for one thing. And I sure know where that gets me. :eek:

Had a cold this week and got some extra rest and ate too many carbs. The good news is that I have time off next week and my gym is open, even on Thanksgiving - time to push harder there.

Depressing changing my stats to move my weight UP - oh, well.

Arabella, great attitude, and so true. I always gain when I avoid the scale.

Anagram, I have a feeling you will be back in onederland for good very soon - think you are due for a whoosh!

Would love to start weighing in with you ladies. I just started this week. I weighed myself Tuesday and it was 222 and this morning I weighed in at 219 (YEA!). I am low carbing it and watching my calories and working out when my kids let me, lol.

Arabella~ Problem is I think that is why I haven't loss (or gained) weight in 10years!!!! I don't eat enough calories for my weight. I gained all my weight before I turned 18 and NONE since (I'm 28 as of friday). In Feb, when I start P90x I will try the 'counting calories' philosophy but this time eat the right amount for my weight. I tried this back in Jan-April but I ate 1200-1400 a day and I weighed 250 (1800cal min) I was working out 6days/circuit training and only losing 1lb a week! There's a little about me!

Tricia--eat an apple and drink a big glass of watter before holiday events or dinners. It helps with not over doing it. You can refocus and get back on track! We're here to encourage you!! I know it's difficult and annoying you can't eat and be merry without the weight coming back so fast!!! Good luck and soon your numbers will be down!

Thanks for the tip and encouragement Moni.. I was being hard on myself due to stress of the holidays and exams.. now its time to get back on track.. I am hoping to be out of the 250's by Jan 1st.. although that is alot of weight for 3 wks away... hmmmm maybe at least at 250.. LOL

I weighed mid week and am back down about 4 lbs to 182. Not doing an "official" weigh in until Tuesday. I wish I could somehow tap the 170s by Christmas. Boy that would be a nice present to myself!:D

Good job everyone on their progresses this week. I am slowing chugging along. I was at 182 on last Thursday and it looks like another lb down. I will take it. Just wish I could get this scale to budge more! My goal is to be in the 170s by Christmas!!!

The key is my food intake. I can see that plain as day. Even when I workout, it's not a license to gorge in the evenings. :mad: Gotta keep that in mind.

I do have to say I went to try on clothes and that totally discouraged me! My 18's are still a bit tight, I think 5 more pounds I'd be more comfy! My biggest challenges have been my eating matching my work outs....

I am being a slacker and not weighing this week. I can't bear to look. I know last week I had gone from 181 to 185 on Christmas Eve. So I will try to do better this week and evaluate the damage by next Tuesday. I got some new pants coming from Victoria Secret that are all in size 12s. I refused to go up a size, so I better be able to zip them when the UPS man arrives with my package next week. Motivation to steer clear of the carbs, sugar, and alcohol! :(

New year reckoning today. And I see my concept so clearly illustrated: Those of you who continue to come in and weigh in have either maintained or lost -- NICE JOB!!! :D

I am very proud of you all! :woohoo:

I, on the other hand (who stopped weighing in :rolleyes: ), have gained. I weighed in last on December 4th at 220. Today I was 226.8. And I don't think it's a bump-up -- I think I've actually lost weight this week.

Furthermore, I've somehow managed to put on about 20 pounds since July.

BUT... it's a whole new year and here we go. I don't feel discouraged; I feel optimistic, motivated and even, dare I say it -- energized. I'm starting a new calendar today. ;)

My goal is two a week but I'll take one pound down. I was actually down lower on Saturday. But that's the day I started Tabata training (http://www.squidoo.com/tabatatraining) and I always find that when I start any kind of intense new exercise, weight loss is slowed -- at least initially. And I'm seeing a difference in the way my clothes fit, even after a single week.

I had a look back at a couple of threads and saw that I'd stopped weighing myself twice. From July to September took me from 209 to 217 This was after a low of 205. I think the scale was creeping up and I just covered my eyes. Like that helps avoid the crash. And then the festive season slide took me from there to here. On we go!

Hi All, I'm SOOO glad the holidays are over! :) They went well and I was happy to say I had met my mini goal....BUT with all the tamale tasting and yummy food, I put those 3-5 pounds back on! ugh! So its time to get back on it and shoot for another goal.
to those of you who met your goal and/or maintained, GOOD JOB! Keep it going! For those of us who didn't quit make it that far out of the gate, its okay, get back on it! :) I have a great feeling about this years so i'll send the vibes out!

I went ahead and bit the bullet and decided to weigh in today. I was trying to wait another week while I finished up Bikram yoga to see a HUGE loss, but it was killing me. So....

I have a feeling I had gained at least 10 lbs over Christmas:mad: So that is good I have gotten back down to where I had started. I am going to try and continue eating right this week, and follow thru the with the Bikram and sweat it out till my classes are up next Sunday. Then maybe by next Tuesday I can get into the mid-170s? My lowest weight before I got pregnant last January was 168. So I am trying hard to get back there. Not sure if that will make the remainder of my clothes fit again, but hopefully it will be a start. My 12s are starting to fit like they should now.

Glad to see this thread is up and running. I haven't posted on it lately(wow, since November, now that I look back). Over the holidays I pretty much maintained - possibly up a lb or two. Re-started 1/1 at 148.2.

1/15: 145.6
1/22: 144

I am SO happy because I have been unable to break the 145 number by more than .2. Hope I am solidly under it now. Still low-carbing but also calorie-counting and calorie-cycling a bit. Whatever it takes!

I am also taking my measurements twice a month. Started that on 1/15.

Arabella, they had a special at the Bikram studio I went to. $20 for 2 weeks unlimited classes. So I went like crazy! Now my 2 weeks is up, and it's $17 per class. I can sign up for 5 classes for $75. But even that is a bit pricey. Those classes are soooo worth it! I wish I could afford an unlimited membership.

Still holding at 179. I weighed again today. I am going to try and eat right and get some exercise between now and Wednesday. Maybe I can "will" the scale to move down another pound or two. It got freezing cold here in Austin the past two days, so I have not felt like exercising outside :(

I made more peace with eating less this week, got all my exercise. Had a lot of stress, though, and am wondering if that affected weight loss. But at least I didn't stress eat -- and next week, I'll deal with inevitable stress better. :yes:

Pretty disappointing. Felt like I worked hard and tried cycling my carbs and calories. Made it to the gym 4X. I think I need to get some more cardio in, even on the days I don't go to the gym. Looking into some DVD's. Other than the gym, I get very little activity - I drive to work and get in no walking. And I hate the cold, so I don't want to walk outside at lunch in this weather. Will aim for a minimum of 20 minutes of cardio every day starting tomorrow.

Natamars, I think if we can just build some more exercise into our day it could make a huge difference. I'm tethered to the computer all day but I intend to make sure to get in some extra little walks and move around more.

Had a stomach virus last week and weight's been fluctuating a lot(for me) ever since - up 2, down 2 in one day. 135 is a plateau for me. Been doing great with exercise, food just so-so. I am BEYOND frustrated. Had a really good week. I've been playing with the same pound for almost a month. Back to low-carb for a few weeks starting this weekend.

Good morning, natamars! I weighed in at 142.5 this morning. So, for the last 6 days, that's 4.5 lbs. down. I'm curious to see what my official one week weigh-in will be tomorrow, since that is the day that I technically started seriously working on losing weight again, and joined 3fc.

It looks like our weight goals are very similar. I don't remember if you mentioned before what you are doing to lose weight. If it's any help, here's what I posted on another thread yesterday about what I'm doing...

I do a combination of calorie counting, carb watching (not counting so much), and zig zagging. So far this combination seems to be working really good for me. I've lost 4 pounds since I joined this site last week (May 22nd). On my lower calorie days I'm also only having my carbs at breakfast, and the rest of my day is low fat/normal amount of protein. I figured that between the lower calories and the small amount of carbs at breakfast, my body will really go after those fat stores. On my higher calorie days I eat normal amounts of carbs, but still try to avoid carbs towards the afternoon/evening time, and have a little bit more healthy fat. I pretty much keep the protein count the same on all days, aiming for around 20 grams per meal. If I do have carbs later in the day, I try to keep it at a minimum so that I'm still doing low carb at least. We'll see if I continue to have good results with it. The first week of any new change in diet seems to give the best results.

P.S. - I can't wait to have my weight loss ticker up and running. It's so encouraging to watch it go from one side to the other. For now, I've just been tracking my weightloss in my sidebar. The first set of numbers is my weight loss the first time around when I made it to goal. The second set of numbers is the weight I am now trying to lose again.

I'm still here too, Natamars, and still losing the same 7 pounds or so over and over. Was shocked to look at this time last year and see I'm just about the same.

Tomorrow's my sort of official weigh in so I'll post then. Was at 199.2 this a.m.

Same goal as last year (unfortunately) to be in the 100's all the time and then to be in the 100s on the doctor's scale. ;)

I'm going to count low weight of the week. I weigh myself daily and refuse to be undone according to the whim of :devil: scale. I struggled this week and had off-plan afternoon snacks several days. But I think I'm getting my head around this thing. And I get to move ticker, huzzah!

Going to have to get a move on to have 8 off by the 14th. Okay -- will just do my best and be happy with loss. Even-Steven this week. I floundered a bit post-trip, although I did all right while I was away. I've been getting my 10k steps every day since Christmas, doing my 10 minutes of yoga almost every day, doing the weights 2-3 times a week.

Time to tune up the diet. :yes:

Wish I could say it was hard work that got my loss this week but it wasn't. Had the stomach flu at the begining of the week and an infected tooth the rest of the week. I'll take it either way!! Just need to make sure I work hard to keep that off this week, finally back on plan and feeling good enough to get back into my workouts.

:wave: Hi weigh in friends! I went back up to 205 last week and today the scale says "203"! I read other posts and found one that stated we retain water in our muscles when we work out hard. (or maybe it was the Julian Michaels video?) Well, I DID add weights to my cardio last week and worked as hard as I could. Possibly that was what the gain had been? It's gone now, so I'm SOOOOO glad I didn't cave in to the old "...this isn't working, I'm such a loser, I'll never be able to take it off.. etc. etc.. lets just have a big fat BINGE :s:."

I ordered the "Body for Life for Women" book from Amazon and LOVE IT. It explains our bodies at different stages in life, and why it's so easy to gain and hold onto weight. So far I've learned to have positive goals, how to set my personal Challenge, and to do as much for myself as I do for others. Can't wait to read on!

Kind of depressing - looks like I need to keep my calories really low to maintain a lb/week loss. I averaged 1600 this week - previous weeks it was closer to 1300. I've added running and spinning once a week each to try to shake things up, but it hasn't been enough. Will drop my calories back down for next week and focus a bit more on protein - egg whites instead of oatmeal, grilled chicken salad instead of ww pasta.

My Challenge is to:

Eat more healthy every day until I am totally healthy in my eating habits.

Follow the BFL plan as well as I can - improving each week.

Pass up sugar and starches to the best of my ability - I will think about how many times I've caved in and regretted it.

Exercise 6 days a week - weights at least 4 x's and cardio 6 days - I will PUSH myself each time, unless I'm injured (then I'll take it easy but still work out!)


Arabella - :carrot: maintaining for a year is GREAT. That is an accomplishment to be proud of. Now that your metabolism has reset itself you can lose successfully again.

Natamars - Congrats on getting back on plan this year. :D About the gain - Are you lifting weights? And, you are right... along with total calories, keep track of the composition of them. That should do it!!

Anagram - You can do it! Way to go - 2 lbs gone!!! :cheer3: I'll bet the slight increase was from working out with weights, or a bit too much salt?

LA - Congrats on the 6 pounds!!:cheer:

Staci - if you are working out with weights your muscles will hold water... but, in a few days that and some fat will leave, and you will be lighter AND stronger. :dust:

I've been battling the same weight for years. It's time for weekly weigh-ins and at the very least maintaining any losses (no matter what life throws my way.) We only get one body - we need to treat it right!:hug:

I was in a few V-Day challenges so today become sort of an official weigh-in.

Gwen, I am doing some lifting but not enough. I usually do a body sculpting class on Monday and last week I was in pain until Thursday from it, so I could only do cardio the rest of the week. Trying to come up with a schedule that works with a better balance of cardio and weight training. I will see you in onederland next week!

3/1/11: 219.4 I kicked up my workouts this week and switched to a different DVD just for something different. I also joined the Wellness Program at work, determined to win the "awesome prize" that goes to the person that loses the most.
This weekend is our annual family getaway, a little worried I will end up off plan but also think I have the determination to keep me from going crazy. I plan on taking my workout DVD's with me and my son's portable DVD player and plan on swimming a lot.

YAY STACI -:carrot: I kicked up my workouts last week, then was laid out with a viral infection - just now getting over it, BUT that's probably why I broke through to onederland today! So.... YAY infection!!!

Natamars - :hug: I'm right there with you! Hang in there. I've been counting calories (have always hated this) using the calorie counter at about.com.. Absolutely LOVE doing it now. It calculates calories needed, nutrients & calories consumed - it saves meals and recipes -- has become quite fun AND informative. I found out that there's a LOT of hidden sodium in the foods I eat. So I'm working on changing some things.

Arabella - :smug: Read "the Beck Diet Solution" Very inspiring (once you get past page 52 and get started with the actual plan. Amazon.com had it to me in just a few days for LESS than the bookstore.

I weighed 196 yesterday, but maybe the nutrient counter was right and I had consumed too much sodium. Even though I don't taste it, I guess it's really there. Oh poo. REALLY liked seeing 196. (tell that to a 130 lbder!)

Has anyone cut calories down to 1200? I've read that it's unsafe, but also that it's best for someone whose bmi is over 30...:dizzy: So, what do they do on biggest loser? Those guys lose awfully fast!

It seems to be working for me, so I think I'll stay there another week.

Arabella: Hang in there! Stay OP, keep up your exercise and it WILL drop off! Are you logging your food online? It's really helped me to realize my true calorie & nutrient intake. Sodium is killin me!

Anagram: Bad Bad weeks are motivation to get back completely on plan! After all, we're on a ONE WAY road to meet our dream self... DON'T TURN AROUND. OK, so maybe that's not inspiring enough... Here's what I've done to motivate myself:

Read Dr. Peeke - Body for life for Women
Read Dr. Beck - The Diet Solution How to think like a thin person
Hung a full length mirror at the entrance to my kitchen and go to it whenever an urge to eat strikes - drop my pants, pick up my shirt and stand sideways... kills the urge every time!
Hung a full length mirror in my bathroom. SCARY - but it's working.
Keeping track of every bite at caloriecount.about.com - since my husband does most of the shopping and running out to buy lunch, I track all day, then eat only the calories left for dinner. Work out a little longer if needed to stay in balance with my total calorie plan.


Natamars: Wish I were there! According to caloriecount I should see 136 in January of 2012. How many calories do you allow each day? How much exercise?

I went a little off plan at our getaway, but I didn't go crazy so I'm ok with a .6 gain. It WILL be gone next week, hopefully along with another 1.4 just so I can hit 20 lbs. lost.

SO frustrating. Apparently I can't have any off days to get through this plateau. OK, I have my plan set - back to lower-carb(no more than 1/2 cup quality carbs/day), limit treats to 1-2 squares very dark chocolate/day, keep calories under 1350. Increase running to twice/week.

Gwen, I try to keep my calories as close to 1200 as possible, but let myself go up to 1500 if needed. There's usually one day a week(lately 2) where I go over that - trying to nip that in the bud. I go to the gym 5 days/week for 45-85 minutes. Usually spin once/week, Zumba once/week, running once/week, body sculpting class twice/week, and elliptical at other times. I work full-time and have a very sedentary job, so I need the gym!

I thought this was going to be worse. Down .5, when I expected to be up. Salt, salt and more salt. I ate an entire bag of kettle chips on Friday afternoon and then had a few handsful at a dinner party on Saturday, plus some very salty prosciutto. O/w, I had a pretty good week. But definitely gotta watch the salt -- and dinner parties. :yes:

I've reinvigorated my mojo and I'm starting tracking everything on SparkPeople today. It really does help staying on plan. So easy to skip the weights workouts when DH is away, for example. BUT if I've got to go in and report, I'll do it.

Natamars, you're so close to goal -- those pounds are the hardest. Your workout regimen is terrific!

Staci, almost 20 pounds down from January? Fantastic!

Gwen, how sweet to see the crocuses! Our snow is receding and I saw some shoots poking up bravely yesterday. Nice motivation list!

I weighed 194 yesterday... ugh! I should weigh in on Mondays!!! :D Still - the overall trend looks like 2 lbs a week, which confirms that I'm doing this right. YAY Me!

Bought a bike and rode on Saturday! Other than nervous husband yelling and sun in my eyes, I had a great time. (I'll do it again - with a visor and no husband.)

Arabella: YAY for reinvigorating your mojo!! You go girl!

Anagram: YAY for moving in the right direction! We can do it!

Natamars: Since I haven't reached a plateau yet, and am nowhere near maintainance weight, I have no personal experience to pass on. However; Dr. Beck states that your "goal" weight and "maintainable" weight may not be one and the same. MAYBE, since you seem to have stablized at 137 this is your maintainable weight? You are working out quite a bit, and eating well - are you logging in every bite to be certain calories are on track? I've read that a set-point can be broken by adjusting your calories UP for a week or so, then plunging back down. ???? Just rambling here. I added the set-point article to my blog - you can click through to it if you'd like to read it. ***You are still my inspiration!

Great job everyone! I did not weigh this week. We had a passing in the family Tuesday morning so I completely forgot. I'm not even counting points this week, I will get back on track next week when we get back to our normal routine. :cry: Up 4 yesterday and afraid to step on the scale today. I'm gonna try to fast today. Really binged last night and am very disappointed in myself. Very upset that husband keeps bringing garbage food into the house. WHY? Because HE can stop at just one, and then the remainder sits there... and sits there... until I cave in and demolish the whole thing. This sends me on a rampage through kitchen until every last morsel of junk has been consummed. Damn :devil: Will I ever get control of this?

It started with the bikini shot from the rear... ugh. I've been spiraling toward oblivion since that. Someone kick me into next week please, maybe even next month... I need to get through this. I've been here before and it's so maddening that I'm here again.

I have been switching up my work outs and hope to push that number down under 190 by May 1st. We'll see! I'd love any suggestions on getting the weight to start comming off without bouncing around. Shouldn't there be 1-2 lbs lost weekly instead of an "average"?

Very happy to be under 135 this week. Tons of challenges in the next 4 days, though. Thinking of doing the 4-day belly fat cure intro next Tuesday-Friday..got the book from the library.

Gwen, what plan are you following? I calorie-count and based on my BMR, exercise level, and intake I should be losing 1.5/week, but it often doesn't work out that way. Hormones, water weight, bathroom issues can easily throw things off.

It's been 195 every day this week... no more bouncing scale. Just stuck. I WILL break through this plateau!!! Any day now the scale will just drop 5 lbs. (ha)

I've been reading a book that suggests our minds control our bodies, even so far as to either lose or retain weight depending upon how our thoughts are bending. Does anyone believe that? I've been trying to think positively (which can't hurt anyway) and putting hypnotic suggestions out to my body... "the fat is melting off my body" "all this exercise is really working" etc... but, maybe all the subconscious thoughts like "yeah right... you'll be stuck at this weight forever" have more control then the conscious thoughts?

It broke! Tracking every bite, limited carbs, upped protein and upped cardio to over 45 minutes. I've skipped on the weights because the cardio took up all my allotted time. Joyful (Joyfuls journey) suggested that it takes over 30 minutes of cardio to START burning fat. I took her advice seriously and YAY! I will keep this up.

Yay Arabella for lowest this year!!!

Well, I didn't think it was possible to gain 5 lbs. in a week, but apaprently it is! Not sure what happened, I was off plan but certainly didn't go crazy. I figured some of it was water from some Chinese food, and I'm down a few from my weigh-in on Sunday. Back on plan with calorie-counting since Monday and exercise is good. Running my 5K tomorrow.


Gwen, you're still 15 lbs. down from the first of the year, which is a solid lb/week. Awesome!

So, I spent the entire month of April trying to bust through 195. My goal for May is to lose at least 8 lbs - aiming for 180 though. 13 lbs in a month doesn't seem unreasonable, but I know that 8 is realistic. I've added whey protein shakes for muscle recovery and fat loss - hoping this will speed up the losing. Has anyone tried this?

Anagram - Have you tried logging in your food? I go back to about.com /caloriecount every now and then to check where I'm at with calories. And I've added more cardio - at least 40 minutes every other day minimum, shooting for daily. That finally broke the plateau for me. Research whey protein for weight loss - this is supposed to help. (I've put a good article on my blog.)

Staci - WooHoo! Under 210 is great! You'll be in onederland soon!

Natamars - I expect that you'll be down to 132 at the end of May. I would LOVE to see 132 on the scale - I'm sure you look fantastic!

Lani - thanks for the good vibes! 20 lbs in one month is absolutely amazing! How are you doing this?

Arabella - YAY! You've broke through that plateau! We should see some great losses this month!

Arabella I'm the same as you, you almost get upset at the scale because of all your hard work and only 1lb lost, but keep in mind that's a WHOLE POUND. Imagine taping a pound of butter to your arms and thighs, that's what your body lost in a week. Keep it up!

Looks like it wasn't a true gain, but it took over a week to get rid of the water from excess carbs and salt. Interesting. Really hoping to hit a new low for the year next week. Did my first 5K last weekend and doing another this weekend.

So I realize 3lbs in just over a week this far along seems a bit drastic. I'm slowly changing my weekly weigh-in day from Thursdays to Saturdays. For some reason I had originally picked Thursday evenings after work for my weigh-in time. This is when I still have all that food from breakfast/lunch and any water retention going on from throughout the day weighing me down. I realized what a terrible idea an evening weigh-in was just yesterday. I hopped on the scale after eating platefuls of Tex-Mex potluck at work for Cinco de Mayo and my weight had stalled all week (Still had me reading at 196.8lbs). I knew it wasn't right; so this morning I went in to the gym after having a light breakfast and I was at 193.8lbs. I know I did not lose 3lbs overnight if it was not excess food/water retention in my body. So moral of the story is, don't weigh yourself after a long day of indulgent/carefree eating. Saturdays will be the best day for me to get the weigh-in done because I'm always at the gym first thing on that day.

natamars Great job on the loss! I can only imagine what you're going through so close to your goal weight. I'm both loving the idea and dreading when I get there because I'm sure I'll be bouncing all over the place and driving myself crazy! Good luck on your 5k this weekend!

Up .6 this week, despite a very good week. I could have been more perfect but was pretty darned good.

However, I did start hot yoga last Monday and supposedly a lot of people gain wait at the first in acclimatization to the heat. Also, any time I do anything that stresses my muscles in a new way -- and this sure qualifies! -- my muscles retain water. Expecting a good loss next week, though, for sure.

I've been eating clean - mostly. I ordered The Eat Clean Diet Recharged - so far it makes perfect sense, and there are shopping lists, recipes, etc. Everything sounds great, eat a lot (clean foods only) no calorie counting, some exercise... basically eat ONLY clean foods and you're supposed to lose about 3 lbs a week... we shall see. We're all gonna do it!!! THIS is our year to finally lose it and learn how to KEEP IT OFF. Everyone stay the course - don't give up!! Plateau's are temporary if we eat right through them (get it?)

Oh my gosh -- a nice solid 2.8 loss! :carrot: :carrot: Why is it always such a surprise to me that when I do what I need to do I lose weight?

I was suddenly struck -- like a brick to the head -- with the full realization that if I force myself to only eat at the table when I'm alone, just that ONE thing, and just focus on the food, I'm pretty much guaranteed to lose weight. I knew it, but was just in denial. And even once I fully realized it I tried to weasel out of committing to it. That's the power of addictive behaviour, huh. Trying to work out exceptions to the rule, just this once.

So anyway, between that and hot yoga... I finally had a good loss. Here we go!

Gwen, maybe it's the HIIT? I know whenever I start anything new that stresses my muscles in a different way, my muscles hold water. And I can tell almost immediately. Frustrating, though, when you're working so hard and the scales don't show it. Next week you'll have a payoff, I bet!

Anyway, I'm sure that HIIT will be worth it. I'm going to start some, short and intense, after I'm up to speed on hot yoga.

Look at AyErBee and Arabella - such steady weight loss. Amazing. I want that so badly. So, I read some of AyErBee's blog - great writing by the way - and see she's on WW plan. Hmmmmm. Points. I'd like to know how points relate to calories.

New low this year! 25 straight days of counting every calorie, not eating any "outside" food, and getting in 5 workouts a week is paying off.

Gwen, I have a bunch of weights I think of as set points that are very hard to get under. That's when I usually get frustrated and sloppy and gain. Stick with it, you'll get there!

Wow I feel much better after grouping my weekly weigh-ins!

Looking down each of the weekly groups you'd think we were showing the weight of 4 different women - each losing consistently. Instead, this is just ME bouncing around each week. If you looked at every DAY the bouncing is even greater - this week alone I was everywhere from 192 to 197!

But... If I only consider week 1 as my weigh in results, I can see that I've lost consistently for each month. Too slow - but consistent.

Arabella, Gwen, natamars Thanks, ladies! As Gwen said I am doing WW Points+ program and I'm working out 7 days/week, 6 of those days at the gym. The 7th day is walking my dog, biking, or both at leisure (nothing intense).

Arabella I hope you aren't discouraged about the slight increase! I had one of those last week and it came off this week as I predicted it would. I felt too good in my skin to believe I really gained weight. Just stay positive! :)

natamars You're doing a really great job. Looks like April was a bit of a yo-yo month because of TOM, but you've been seeing consistent losses this month. You're so close to your goal now!

Gwen 17lbs is nothing to be ashamed of! Everyone's body is different and will lose weight at different rates. You're making lifestyle changes now that will help you consistently lose weight till your body reaches its equilibrium. You can't get discouraged! Just keep on trucking and you'll get where you want to go.

jacymacy I recently switched my weigh-in day from Thursdays to Saturdays. Once you get into the groove of Friday weigh-ins the weight will drop so long as you're sticking to plan. :)

Stupid bounce-up! An even two pounds up from last week but I know it's not real -- had two people, one of them my husband, saying that my weight loss was apparent.

Could be the muscles holding water again from a week back at hot yoga after having been away for a week. Whatever -- I had one of those moments walking past a mirror and thinking, holy smokes, where'd my tummy go?

All my hard work of biking 60+ minutes a day 6 days last week and gym 60+ minutes a day 6 days last week paid off? I feel like I've been on the go for the last week and a half straight. Today's the first day I didn't go biking after the gym and I REALLY wanted to and could of, but I'm so tired from my midnight bike ride last night. Bed soon!

Gwen Don't be discouraged. Maintaining in a week is MUCH better than a gain.

Arabella I pay more attention to how I feel in my clothes than anything. The scale fluctuates daily. I'm also noticing when I go out I tend to get more attention from guys than I did before. It's a nice reminder of my progress.

I've given up on the scale... still says 193. Just too depressing for now. I'm staying OP and working out almost everyday. I'll give it a month before I go back to the scale.
