Thanks for the congrats and congrats to all the other losers. Hopefully this week will be the week I can get under that 300 mark.... only 3 more little pounds to go. Haven't been under 300 since I was about 20.... and that's almost 24 years ago.

Here's hoping everyone has a great week !!

Thanks for the congrats everybody, but I think there's a mistake... I didn't lose 4lbs this week, I only lost 2.5... I think the percentage is right though. (I suck at math so don't take my word for it.) But congrats to the other ladies! Great job yall!

Just dropping by to say "Hi!"
Had a good day yesterday.

Soontobe-Congrats! How is your throat feeling? When my son had his tonsils out he was in quite a bit of pain for about 2 weeks but he did drop 20 lbs.:dizzy:

Congrats to all the other big losers this week. Blue team Rocks!

Have a great Wednesday!

Hiya, Bluesers. Selena, congrats on being our Biggest Loser!

Leslie - I've got my fingers crossed for a 3 pound loss for you this week.

I made it through on-plan day #2. I'm still very tired, though. I think my body is in shock. On a good note, I'm in very good spirits and am enjoying life more. Goodbye Sugar!

Have a great on-plan day.

Morning Teamies!

I think I totally burned myself out last week trying to be an athlete and as a result I needed 3 rest days but I also think all that extra Exercise did more harm than good. When I got on the scale on Sunday and saw a GAIN it totally messed with my head and as a result I have 3 days of eating with total abandon. I'm not even going to get on that thing (THE SCALE) TO see what I've done, but I am struggling.

As I stated before, I am toning it down with the exercise. Only 4 to 5 days a week. 30 to 45 of cardio and only 2 DAYS of a few Strength Exercises. I think I am going to concentrate MORE on Food than anything else. Concentrate on portion sizes and staying away from Blood sugar spiking entities.

I also found THIS Article (http://shine.yahoo.com/event/autumninnewjeans/4-ways-french-women-stay-thin-without-the-gym-515174/) VERY interesting...

Echo, I haven't seen you around much, are you okay sweetie????

Good afternoon team members. Congratulations to our biggest loser: Soon2BFitChick and the runners-up: LeslieB, Institches and inklestinkle. Wonderful job, girls.

Today I had a veggie burger for dinner but I only had large burger buns on hand. So I hollowed out the top and bottom of the bun and removed 20 grams of bread and 45 calories. Then I put steamed onions in the hollowed out area and put my burger on top. It was a substantial sandwich to say the least and I'm so full now. Also had other stuff with it.

What are some of the little "tricks" you use to lower calories or serving sizes?

What? You doubt my ability to transfer numbers from the spreadsheet to the internet? Yep, I screwed up, :o I was looking at last weeks column when I was typing out the weight lost. I'll go fix it.

In other news, I've worked 115 hours in the last two weeks, and now on top of everything else, I've got a cold. Stupid co-workers who bring in their germs. So of course I came into work too. Spread the joy! :p I still ran 5 miles this morning though. Running is easier when you're hyped up on cold meds.

Aw, that stinks. I hope you feel better!

I don't know what's up with me... I gained like 2 or 3 lbs already this week! The only thing I did different is start to exercise (jogging/walking, squats, lunges, etc.). Maybe it's just temporary, but it's frustrating.

Woo! So I finally get to be officially added to the group and I've come down with a cold :( I had JUST worked my way up to doing full workouts again too after the flu! Booooooo.

But just checking in. I did decide to make myself homemade chicken soup instead of stuff from the store. Help keep the sodium down and control the portions :)

I agree with Dix. It is most likely water weight from your muscles retaining water for repair.

Had another good day yesterday. Cals were right at 1500 did 30 DS. Was way too tired yesterday to get up and do LBWO so I just pushed it till today. Got up at 5:30 and got it done already. Will workout again tonight with my friend.

Have a POP Thursday!!

Morning Blue! Just checking in real quick before I got to get DD up for school. This week has been a disaster! Unexpectantly TOM has shown up, which my be why I couldn't budge the scale last week or why I feel like a beached whale. I've had a few really bad days of eating, with little exercise. I've bought healthy meals, now I just need to eat them!

Echo-Congrats on the PhD!

Leslie-WOOHOO! Great job on making into the 200's!

Too late. I didn't know about the challenge until today.:(

Elise - don't give up on the exercise! The inches lost will be very encouraging.
Mary - How long have you been doing the 30DS? Should I be working out for a while before trying that one?

Today is on-plan day #4.:carrot: On another note, Dr Oz made me start thinking about Vitamin D and wondering if I'm deficient. Two years ago, I was diagnosed with Osteopenia, which is the very early stages of bone degeneration. Yesterday afternoon, I got my results. I'm at 7.2. I should be between 32-100. Yikes! I picked up some D3 last evening and will start taking it today. I've been told that I'll start to feel more energetic and less depressed. Wouldn't that be marvelous!

What are some of the little "tricks" you use to lower calories or serving sizes?

I've switched to I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray on my veggies.

Have a great on-plan day.

I just finished my 2nd lesson on the 30 day shred. I am sweating buckets lol. I have always been good at dieting, no motivation problems there, but exercising for fun? yuck! I love sports, can't do much of that because I have a bad knee, but this workout is kicking my Arse. Not bad on my knee either.

The best part of it is the full body toning, abs, back legs, etc.

20 mins a day isn't bad either, now where is my masseuse?:D

I can't believe it's Thursday already! I've totally missed out on the challenge this week, but I can't wait for next weeks. Unless someone else wants to, I'd love to see what I can come up with for Week 4s challenge! :D

I hope everyone's weightloss is going well! Mine not so much. :( I've been OP with between 1500-1600 calories a day and working out, but it hasn't really budged much and today I'm a pound and half from yesterday and I didn't even have that much salt! :?: Any advice from anyone??

Hey team! I just posted the weekly results, we won!!!! :carrot:

Thanks for starting up the challenges! Anyone want to go ahead and volunteer to lead next weeks challenge? PM me and I'll assign weeks, if you want. My personal challenge this week is to stay upright and not pass out from fever or cold meds. Running was out of the question this morning, so I did 4 miles of walking, occasionally listing to one side or the other. Bet my trackmates thought I'd been drinking. :D

Congratulations, Echo. I just noticed you've passed your big test. Do we now refer to you as Dr. Echo? :) Well done.

I had a marvelous walk today. It was gray and overcast and threatening rain but I decided to go anyway. As suspected rain did come but just very gently. I was listening to classical music (Music for the Royal Fireworks by Handel) on my MP3 player and found myself conducting the orchestra as I was walking in the rain. For a moment I became so entirely immersed in the music I hardly knew where I was. I felt so blissfully happy at that time I almost cried for joy. My whole day is colored by that moment of sheer happiness. It's like nothing can make this day go wrong now.

Have a good day Blue Team.

I am under the weather now. I have an earache and it is affecting my balance. Yesterday was worse than today but it is still pretty sore - and I feel a bit light headed. I have a few things to get done at work and am heading home early to get some more sleep. All I have left to do is make sure the two quizzes I am giving tomorrow are set, printed and ready to go. So I best get backto that instead of dawdling here ;)

Good morning ladies! Well I believe I have hit a bit of a plateau. After hitting a low of 177.2 over the weekend, the scale has gone up a bit and is refusing to go back down. So I'm stuck in the 178's, hopefully it will pass. I have had more salt than normal, so I've been trying to drink all my water to compensate.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a lovely day! Check out the challenge, you can still do the rest of the week. I didn't' post it until yesterday anyway. Thanks Echo for the compliments! I thought we could all use a good dose of self-love to get us through this 3rd week.

I swear guys, once my period starts, you all are going to be shocked!!! (haha, it better happen that way)

I usually drop like 4 after period starts, is that normal for you guys too? Note that I started this at 136, then gained 3... it's a bit of cheating but not enough for 3 lbs... so a lot of bloat, and the bloat lasts over a week before the period. Normal?

Echo-Congrats on the PhD. Wow girl you rock. I have a master's and have seriously been thinking about going back to get a second one in educational leadership but every time i start to think ok I can do this again I chicken out.:^:

Had an ok day yesterday. Really rocked it on the workouts and food was good all day until dinner. Was too tired to cook so we ordered out. I did good ordering a grilled chix sandwich plain and a salad with no dressing (so I could use my own) but then I ate three wildwings that my dh ordered and a bite of a jalepeno popper of my dd. Today is a new day so here I go again. No mess ups this weekend or I will have to pay seriously!

Have a Happy Friday!!!:D

Aww thank you so much Mary!!! you're so sweet, such a lovely thing to say

wow that's awesome you thinking about going back to studying!!! :book2:
you can do it! :) its never too late for anything :D

Jillian Michaels says- 2 things are needed to accomplish something.

1) you have to think its worth it. (if i said, run for 1 hour on this threadmill for 1 hour you would wake up 100lbs lighter would you do it? if yes, than its worth it.
2. you have to believe in yourself that you CAN do it. and ignore all those demons and doubts, people telling you , you cant. its just a wrong and skewed perception of yourself, that is simply NOT true!

I'm so happy The Blue Team won this week! :carrot: It has been a very busy week and I haven't been able to post much. I have eaten okay this week but am still struggling with exercise. Sorry guys--I'm up another 1.5 lbs!! :( I don't know what the DEAL IS!!! :?: I have been on plan all week and exercising. The only thing I can think is I changed my workouts so maybe that has something to do with it, but 1.5 lbs worth of something to do with it??? Give me a break. Oh well. Maybe all this is adding up to be a great big loss next week. I need it.

It saddens me that I posted that I was and still AM STRUGGLING, and not 1 person on this team seemed to notice or care. I feel invisible...again...which I one of the reasons I quit doing these challenges in the first place. Here we go again eh? I really try to post and be supportive of everyone, even the peeps who I KNOW aren't crazy about me (and that's putting it nicely). I guess you're all saying, oh there she goes, Diva, living up to her name. But yanno, I deserve support just as much as anyone else.

Anyway, I hope everyone does well and meets there goals. I really mean that. It makes me happy to see people loss weight and reach their goals. it inspires me and gives me hope that it can be done. I doubt I'll be around much. I have to find support someplace and I guess this isn't it. Which makes me sad because I really like 3FC's and these BL Challenges. Owell...

Cool!! What field does your PhD fall under? What are you planning to do next? Just curious as I also have a PhD (Economics) and am working at a university teaching now. Love my job!! When is your hooding ceremony?? It is a great feeling to walk across that stage and get hooded and receive that piece of paper!!!

wow a PhD in economics! way cool!! that is so awesome when you love your job! i think thats the best thing in life.

next - i will probably go into research. but might try a different field. just to try something different. i am REALLY interested in weight loss and the science behind it. i'm a real junkie when it comes to anything related to weight loss.
so maybe something in that line. who knows! :) hehe

Diva~ I use 3FC for several reasons. The first being accountability. If I have to be accountable to others (and therefore myself), then it motivates me to keep going. I also use this site as a bit of a venting frustration place. If I'm frustrated with myself and post it, it lets me go on with my day. This is why I don't always respond to every persons posts. I figured a lot of other people vent here too and aren't necessarily looking for advice or whatever.

I don't know you as well as others might, but if you need an extra shove, I can try to help with that. However, asking for help and motivation is different than assuming someone will know you need it. I've learned that being direct and honest will get you a lot further when you need something.

So that said, I'm sorry your having a rough time. I'm up a bit this week too, so I can understand the frustration there. Most likely your gain is exercise related. I believe your muscles will hold more water when you've been working out harder. Try to get back OP and slow the workouts down a bit, your body probably needs to recover a bit. Slow and steady wins the race.

Nella
10-02-2009, 03:17 PM
BigSexy - I feel your pain on the gain (ooh, I rhymed, lol) I was down to 177.2, now this morning it said 179.4. :( Let's just hope it's water retention and it will go bye-bye before weigh in. I've been OP and working out, so not sure what the deal is.

I'll be the first to admit I hop in here for accountability and to see myself type something (to me saying it out loud). Saying it to a bunch of strangers does it enough for me. I do read posts/stories and I think "how can this help me? What can I learn from this?"

So for me, my membership here is a very selfish one... I'm admitting that. I don't expect pats on the back, advice UNLESS I ask for it, nor acknowledgement. Maybe I should? And in that case, maybe I should give more of it in return.

That said, I really appreciate when someone does reply to me or note something I said, makes me feel warm and tingly and appreciated, so if I can evoke that feeling in someone else, I should be doing it too!

It saddens me that I posted that I was and still AM STRUGGLING, and not 1 person on this team seemed to notice or care.

Roni, I have also been struggling. But, you and I have known each other for a while. You know how I think and operate. I'm not one for hugs and commiseration. At this point, we all know what we have to do to lose weight and it's up to each of us to make the decision to just do it. Personally, I respond best to a good a$$ kicking, but I've learned that this is not true for everyone. So, I keep silent. But, if you give me specifics on what you're struggling with, I can offer whatever advice I have because, as you also know, I am very opionated.:D I am sorry that you're struggling and I do care, but tell me specifically what I can do to help you and I'll do it. What areas are you struggling with? I'm sure that our team has tons of knowledge and wisdom to share with each other.

Team, I feel badly because I can't be as interactive as I've been on previous challenges and I've not been able to really get to know everyone as well as I'd like and allow you to get to know me.. But, my work load has been heavy and is starting to get even heaver as we are entering our peak time in my department. I'll soon be working 12-14 hour days. But, I will continue to come here each day and share how I'm doing. On that note....today is onplan day #5 for me. :carrot:

Have a great on-plan day. :cheer3:

Hey lady, thanks for the acknowledgement! I feel the tingles...

I started in March of 08 or so, and literally started at around 200 lbs. My friends and I started jogging together and I couldn't even run for 1 min. I started to focus more on speedy weight loss, keeping a notebook in my purse (I've gone through 4 now and save each one) and I counted cals and carbs, staying between 1000 and 1200 most days, and trying to stay under 60-80 carbs. It worked well for me, and weight dropped fast. By October of 2008, I was 145 or so lbs. But by then I decided to really get on track with running (I had signed up for a half marathon that was to be in Feb of 09) so I ate a bit more, more carbs, and ran my butt off! I ran the half marathon in Feb at 2 hours and 21 minutes! So proud of myself.

I haven't been running as much, but I did sign up for the same marathon this year, Feb 2010. I really struggle with wanting to eat little cals and little carbs and not working out, to running longer miles (in which I'd need to eat more and therefore not lose as fast).

I'm a size 6-8 now, but have saddlebags to the max, and would love to whittle those down. We'll see how I look at 125, 120, etc and see where I need to be. I just need to tighten up! And I know a lot of that is working out and toning (which I hate!)

Here are some before and afters, I hope they show up. Let's really get on each other to get down to our goal, and get this show on the road! I've been teetering in between 134-145 all this year, I need to get myself in gear once and for all!

Hello Teammates! I am really sorry that I haven't been posting much. I try to read as much as I can in the time that I have to do it. I actually have a question. Do we have to post in the accountability thread? The diet plan that I am on requires me to keep a journal and turn it in every week at my weigh in. I really would rather not type it in here as well as write it down.

I think I am down about 3 lbs. so far this week but I always seem to back slide a little on the weekends. I'll try like crazy to keep it up though.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

I really don't think any of us need to feel guilty. I want to be encouraging to everyone but sometimes a post just slips thru the cracks. I hope I don't sound mean but I have enough stuff going on in my own life that I feel overwhelmed most of the time and I love coming here to block that all out and be with people who understand and have the same struggles I do. I don't want to be made to feel I did something wrong and feel pressure here too.

We are a team but ultimately the only person who can pick you up is you.

:bravo: on the 3 lbs this week. I have the same problem on the weekends. I work my butt off all week eat clean then throw it all out on the weekends. A couple of us have a pact for this weekend. To stay on plan or post a pic of ourselves in a bikini...needless to say I will stay on plan! lol!!

I've been a VERY bad girl. ONLY exercise 1 day this week for a measly 30 minutes and I've had A LOT of fast food. :( I feel completely sick now. It's true what they say about fast foods, processed foods, they make ya feel like crap. I guess ya never notice though until you haven't had them in a long time, and then ya OD on them.

Yeah I am not really one to just bust out and ask for recognition or pats on the back. I don't posts a lot of before and after pics, because for one, I don't have any, but if I did, I prolly wouldn't post them. I just like a bit of advice or whatever when I come out and say yes, I am struggling. IF I am wrong someone fill me in please, because I seriously view these chat threads as a support system. Where we can vent, brag or what have you, and then return the favor. I want to be a source of support for you girls, and it is hard for me to even admit that I struggle too. It was hard for me to have busted my butt in the GYM that way and hardly be able to walk and see that dang scale move up. It was frustrating and I gave up. I was like why am I doing this? Why am I going without the food I REALLY want to eat and killing myself in the GYM for nothing...so I gave up. I exercised 1 day last week and haven't counted 1 calorie in 6 days. So now when that scale shows a gain, it won't be because I busted my a$$ trying to lose. Self Sabatoge. I'm the queen. Even if I already know deep inside it was water retention and my muscles healing, it's nice to see other peeps confirm this. That's called SUPPORT.

On that note....today is on plan day #5 for me. :carrot:

Have a great on-plan day. :cheer3:
Lordy girl, 12 to 14 hours??? What are you doing??
Congrtaz on Day #5, or 6 on OP! I''m so proud of you, and um...no butt kickings please. I was doing good until I freaked. I can get back OP. ;) I appreciate you responding too Rhonda. You just don't know how much beings that we haven't always seen eye to eye.

Hiya Bluesers!

Happening - Love your before and after pics! You look wonderful.

Today, I'm cleaning house followed by a little cold weather clothes shopping for the kiddos.

I wanted to share something with you all. This past Monday, I decided to start taking my vitamins again. I began with a multi, fish oils, calcium w/ D and magnesium. Also, I went to a new gynecologist last week and he told me that my previous doctor had me on very low doses of my hormone therapy, so he increased all of my hormones. At the appointment, I asked him to test my vitamin D levels. I had been watching Dr. Oz and he mentioned Vitamin-D deficiency. Two years ago, I was diagnosed with osteopenia which is the earliest stages of bone degeneration. Also, my skin has gotten so unbelievably dry and the wrinkles seem like they are appearing overnight! The depression crops up every once in a while. Of course, all of this could be my menopause, but who knows. The doctor's office called me on Tuesday. Turns out that my levels are very low.....7.2 when they should be between 32-100! I am now taking large doses of vitamin D. I don't know if it's the vitamins, the hormones, removing refined sugar and HFCS from my diet, or a combination of it all. All I do know for sure is that I feel great!!:carrot: I so positive minded, cheerful and energetic. I actually cleaned house for 5 hours last night after working an 8 hour day!

So, how about starting up a Question of the Day to spark some conversation? I'll get us started. Today's question:

Are the weekends tougher for you to stay on-plan? What specific thing are you doing this weekend to keep yourself on-plan?

My family loves to eat out on the weekends. I've informed them that Mom won't be participating anymore. I will buy the girls a treat while we are out shopping, but my eating will be at home and will be planned.

Ok. I must quit chatting, eat breakfast and start cleaning again. Hope you all have a great on-plan day. :cheer3:

YAY! Rhonda! :carrot:

I'm so happy you got your energy back girly! I saw that show too and I also went out and got some vitamins. I have the OneA-Day Womens, Extra Vit-D & Calcium, since being diabetic makes it harder for my body to absorb those things, I take Glucosamine & Chondrotin everyday, and also got some Fish, Flaxseed, Borage Oil (all in one pill) to take everyday. If y'all google those, it's amazing the things that they help with.

I think ya look awesome too! Your pics totally inspire me. I noticed the boobies went down some too. I REALLY hope my boobies go down. I hate these things!

BTW, I think you were as cute as can be even in your first picture! You're very pretty.

Happening - W O W!!! A complete transformation! I am awestruck! Your plan is simple and direct. It's a little less calories than I am comfortable with, but the same type thing has really helped my BFF. She has dropped 43 pounds in 6 months. Your pics are all the motivation I needed to keep on trucking. You go girl!! :bravo:

Diva - When I tell you I completely relate to the evil scale - I mean it. 181 today! what the heck?!? That means I went up 4 pounds in 7 days, and I was OP and working out. Hang in there and drop that fast food ASAP! I don't even trust salads from fast food places antmore. But, don't stress too much about it, today is a new day. Go for a nice brisk walk today and re-start yourself.

Are the weekends tougher for you to stay on-plan? What specific thing are you doing this weekend to keep yourself on-plan?

Well, I actually find it a little easier to stay OP on the weekends. I get bored at my office and I tend to eat more. At home, I have stuff to do and more time to exercise, so I do more activity. This weekend, DH and I are going to a festival in town. We're going to just walk around and look at the crafts. It's a beautiful day here (high 70's and sunny) and the festival is on teh river, so it's going to be great! THen DH has homework to do (he's finishing his degree online) so I will go for a jog so he can finish his work without me interupting him, lol.

I hope everyone has a lovely Saturday!!!!

I'm sorry your scale went up, prolly the same thing it was with me. I'm sure it'll drop back down to normal. I hear ya on the FF salads too, first of all the serving size is big enuff for 2 or 3 poeple, and their dressing is what kills ya! If I get one I always put half away and use my own salad dressing.

OOPS! I keep forgetting The QOTD:
Are the weekends tougher for you to stay on-plan? What specific thing are you doing this weekend to keep yourself on-plan?

For me, it's easier to remain OP on the week days because everyone is at work and school and I can concentrate on me and eat right and exercise. The weekends are a B&#@H because Dude is here and Mr. Tall & Skinny can eat what ever he wants, whenever and how much and not gain an ounce. I can just SMELL the same foods and gain 5 pounds! Sooooooooooo not fair, so unless I am already armed with HEALTHY snacks I will succumb to his silly little ways...and usually do. *sigh*. It's hard. I mean as we speak...ahhh...type...he has meatballs simmering in the crock-pot. :dizzy: I CAN hit the GYM on Sat ( and soon Sundays too) but I am seriously trying to keep them rest days so when I bust my butt in the GYM all week, my body has a chance to act right by the time I WI on Monday's. :D

Congratulations BLUE TEAM!!!! that's awesome that we won the challange this week and congratulations to the biggest losers.
I'm sorry this is my first post this week, I just finished reading all of the posts and it seems there are ups and downs in weight and life. I have been so crazy busy with work and so angry there that I have not been on and I do apoligize. I am also not great with personals so to everyone who needs them (me included) I will try to be better. I will also need to get on the computer:). Well I will be MIA for another week as tomorrow is when I go to my conference in Whistler and try try try to avoid all the good food on the buffets that they serve us on.
I have to post my weight today as I leave at 5:30am tomorrow for the airport so I won't be on then.
I have a 3.2lbs loss to report and that's with TOM coming so yeah!!!
I also have a question for you this is with the new scale that is better, I went to a WW meeting on Thurs. and the 2 scales were only 1lb off so I think I would like to use the new one now. My question is can I go back and change my starting weight and first 2 weigh ins to match the new scale? Thanks for any input. I will try to check back later and post my weight.

Also, I'd like to add that in NO way shape or form am I or was I trying to make people feel guilty for not addressing my struggles or even every ones. I KNOW people get busy and life happens, but when I posted that, and nothing was said to me at all, then I saw others posting their struggles and they DID get addressed, what was I think? I felt invisible. I won't apologize for my feelers, because they are mine. :) I do not expect that everyone here can respond to every post being written, I know I don't always...So there ya go.

Ok, carry on...;)

Hi Blue Teamzers,

I'm finally apart of the group this week and then I get sick with kidney problems!

I'm on an antibiotic right now that literally warns you about working out because your tendons are extra sensitive on this med!! WTF mate.

So, my new goal for the rest of this dose is to really study my food intake! Big challenge for me!

For any of you out there who are struggling:
First, UGH doesn't it totally suck??? BUT, if there is one thing that plays in the back of my mind from Bob is "welcome the fear" and "bring on the change." It probably means you need to go out of your comfort zone again. Scary!! But welcome it!

For those of you rocking it and maintaining... don't get cocky :) I mean that in the "don't let yourself get lazy because you're doing a fab job!"
But keep on keepin' on!

Going back to laying down and cranberry juice.

Love ya ladies!

Hi everyone,
Sorry I haven't been able to post much this week. I've been so busy with all of my children's appointments, activities, school stuff etc. Anyway, I see that we won week 2 :woohoo: Congratulations everyone!!

I've mostly been on plan except for yesterday. It wasn't too bad but it wasn't good either. I am down 2 lbs since last weigh-in but I have a feeling after yesterday I'll be up a bit.

Diva, I am so sorry that your feelings were hurt  I replied to your post in the week 2 thread, although I admit it was just a quick reply, and I should have been more supportive. I am glad you are not leaving the group!

Echo congratulations on your Phd! That is awesome!!!!!!!!!

A big hello to everyone and to anyone that is struggling big  Hang in there, you can do it!

I hope it's ok if I post this link, but I see that a lot people are noticing fluctuations with their weight and are getting frustrated by their scales. I think this is a great article regarding that:

Hey Blue! I've been struggling a bit this week. Got frustruated the scale isn't moving, at first tried talking myself out of getting discouraged, saying must be water retention, must be the increased exercise, TOM, you know all the excuses. Well I took my measurements and they were up a bit too. I gave in, haven't exercised all week, ate out quite a bit, even though i bought healthy meals for work. Part of my problem is I can't get back to where I was before I got pregnant. I had balanced my life, eating was good, exercise plan was in place and now I have a DD in school, a baby that always needs his momma, and a hubby that doesn't do much to help. Sometimes I wonder if I will ever get back to where I was. Anyways enough feeling sorry for myself. I've done pretty good on my eating today, with the exception of the brownie I had. No exercising, had planned on it but DS is super fussy today (think he's teething). I just hope he sleeps better than he did last night.

Diva  Hang in there girlie.

mara-sorry you're having troubles

Narnia-thanks for the link, helps shed a little light on the whole water retention deal.

Good luck girls on your pact! I know you guys can do it.

Rhonda-great job on getting your energy back.

practice-good luck on the upcoming wedding! We will be waiting to hear all about the big event.

happening-you do look great-congrats on your loss.

QOTD~ I am more likely to stay op during the weekdays. I try and limit eating fastfood to once a week and avoid the vending machine. I buy easy meals I can prepare at work and stock my drawer with healthier choices.

I'm having a good week in general but a bad week when it comes to food. I've been super busy so I've been resorting to fast food. *hangs head in shame* So yeah, I'm up 1.5. And the sad thing is where I'll be today, I'm pretty sure my only choice will be fast food. (Do they serve anything healthy at the Saints game? lol) The weekends are harder for me and I haven't really found a perfect way to stay OP. :(

But I did want to tell yall about a good workout I had yesterday. My dad bought me 5 fruit trees and my hubby was supposed to plant them but he got called into work unexpectedly. They had to be planted yesterday, so I got out the shovel, carried the trees to the pasture, dug 1 big hole, carried a big bucket of compost from the barn to the other side of the pasture where I was planting, put the tree in and shoveled the dirt back in. I tried to do it as fast as I could because I had to do it while the "baby" (he's 2 tomorrow) took what ended up being a ridiculously long nap. Then I did the 2nd and then the 3rd. I couldn't do the 4th and 5th because I was just spent at that point. My heart rate was up, my muscles were sore. Would've been easier if we hadn't left our wheelbarrow somewhere else, but it wouldn't have been as good a workout. ;) I was so tired from working in the yard that I actually went to bed before midnight for once.

It just goes to show you just doing plain ol' manual labor can be a good exercise. ;) Well... in some cases. My hubby planted the other two literally no sweat in like 15 min. Stinkin freakishly strong show off. ;) Mine took 4 hours; that's how out of shape I am from not working out since March... and how much of a perfectionist I was being planting them. ;) But here's hoping the rest of the work I have to do in the barn and painting the house will maybe shave off a few pounds and get me back in this thing.

Diva - I'm sorry I couldn't be more support to you, I just feel like I can't really give advice when... I'm struggling myself. But I'm glad you're sticking with it. Good luck getting back OP. Send some of that will power dust my way! ;)

Rhonda - That's great that you feel so much better! I haven't watched Dr. Oz in a while so I hadn't heard about the vitamin D thing. I should probably start taking some vitamins, too. Maybe that would help me feel a bit better in general.

Happening - Wow. That's some great inspiration right there. Your first picture looks like what I look like now and the last is where I want to be. You look great. And this is just another reinforcement that I have GOT to start running everyday!

Hello Gals. I've had one of the best weeks ever. I ate within my calorie range and I walked 6 days. I knew I'd lose weight this week. I stripped off Saturday morning and got the scales out of the cupboard and stepped on well knowing I'd have at least 2 pounds gone. What a surprise I got when the numbers came up. There, to my unbelieving eyes, were the same numbers as last week!! I got off and and then got on again. Same thing. Not an ounce gone. Who'd a thunk it? Ha, ha. That's how it is some weeks. But even though the weight didn't come off I know I ate well and lived well and that has a certain satisfaction in itself. And yesterday which is my free eating day and non exercise day (a girl has to have a break, ya know) I ate one piece of dessert and actually kept within my calories for the day. That's the first time I can remember ever staying within the calorie range on my free day. So one more thing to be satisfied about.

Don't fret too much about the "baby" fat. Just keep living and eating well. Little people take up so much time that often there's little time left for mom. But babies grow so quickly that in a day or two (it seems that quick when you look back) you'll have more time for yourself. In the meantime just do your best. Be the best mother and wife/partner you can be. Set good examples of eating and living. Your family will not look back and say mom never did anything for us. They'll remember you as the best mother in the world. You will have set by your example a firm foundation for your children and even your husband/partner. Most of you are young but feel ancient. Let me tell you as long as you live healthy there will be time to lose weight.

Get rid of the junk in your homes. Kids don't need chips and bars and take-out food anymore than you do. Wean them off of the stuff and replace it with healthy foods. Let them see you snacking on apples, oranges, plums, carrots and other healthy options. You know those 100 calorie packs are for the most part junk food whittled down into 100 calorie convenience packs. For the same amount of calories you could have had a small apple and 1/2 tablespoon peanut butter which will fill you up much better than one of those 100 calories packs and give you a nutrition kick as well.

Don't become discouraged when you fail. Everyone fails. You are not alone in this battle. Pick yourself up and learn from your failures. Make a plan. I make out menus for the month. I never have to wonder "What's for dinner?" It takes a few minutes of planning but it saves a lot of time in the long run. Make it a family time and get input from the kids and hubby. I calorie count so I eat the same as everyone else just in smaller portions for calorie dense foods and larger for calorie light foods. For instance today we are having:

Black Bean & Cheese Enchiladas w/FF Sour Cream
Baked Potatoes
Tossed Salad

I'll have one enchilada (which are made with small corn tortillas), a tiny baked potato sprinkled with butter flavored popcorn salt, and a huge salad with a small amount of salad dressing. Not sure what the calories will be yet but they'll be accommodated into my plan. Your plan doesn't have to be mine but make a plan and go by it. And try and include your family in as much of it as possible. They don't even have to know it's about you losing weight. :)

Now about Vitamin D. I live in Canada and it is recommended that everyone in the country take at least a minimum 400 IU of Vitamin D everyday. Most provinces won't even test for Vitamin D deficiency unless there are definite signs of problems. It is just assumed that everyone in Canada is probably not getting enough. Even in the sunny South with so many people using sun block the Vitamin D is not getting made on the skin so deficiencies are showing up where they never did before. I take 1000 IU and another 200 IUs in the multi-vitamin. DH has the same and he saw such immediate benefits that he won't go without them.

Well, that's my sermon for today. Have a great one.

Diva, I was shopping on Friday and was looking at some exercise clothing. I need a new pair of pants and I was checking out the hoodies that matched. I pulled one out of the rack and on the back in big bold letters were "DIVA". I thought of you immediately.

With 6 sleeps til the wedding, I am focusing on walking to do my errands as much as possible, being mindful (but not necessarily OP) with my nutrition, and trying to get to the gym if I can.

 to all - I will weigh-in on Monday and then see you all in two weeks!

Morning bluesers!

QOTD: Weekends are absolutely my tough spot. Actually chose Sunday mornings as my weigh ins this challenge to keep me accountable. I used to weigh in friday and then blow it on the weekend. Not this time.

WHERE MY GIRLS AT? We made a pact to be good to ourselves. I squeeked by and got the 5lbs off that I gained last weekend. Took some hard food choices though. We went to a fantastic mom and pop cafe we love for breakfast yesterday. I avoided the yummy and got a turkey burger. Also went to red robin this weekend. Soup and salad for me. Skipped the fries on the way to the concert, and had a healthy serving of dinner last night. It wasnt fun in the moment... I wanted those fries something fierce... .but it paid off.

I have to run now. Fiance is buzzing around the house waiting for me to shower and get ready to run some errands. Hopefully will be back tonight to do some check in with you girls. Have a great day.

Hello team! Sorry that I haven't been around so much. I had a lot of things to do this week, my sister has been moving, so a lot of work. This week I only lost 0.2 pound, at least no gaining.. Will try better next week. I'm planning to run 3 times/week.

Hi team! Hope everyone's had a good week. I have had a busy week, very busy weekend, and finished this morning with a 5k walk. I have only done one walking "event" before and it was years ago. I had a fantastic time today! :) Someday (next summer?) I'd like to be able to run that distance.

Again I want to thank you all for all the prayers that were said for Robbie.

I thought I would give you an update. This if from Caringbridge.com. It is a wonderful website where family members can go and set up a blog very easily so everyone can stay updated in a time of illness. You can post pics and guest can sign a guest book and leave well wishes.

Yesterday evening Robbie had a tracheotomy. The ventilator had been removed from his throat and he looks much more comfortable. The nurses asked they we give him some quiet time so that he is able to rest. They informed us that the next step would be to lower the amount of breathing the machine is doing for him and see how he responds. According to the information they gave us, it will be much easier for them to wean Robbie off of the breathing machine with the trach than it would have been with the ventilator.

We stopped in to see Robbie this morning but they are still asking that we give him some time to rest. The nurses informed us that they have already begun lowering the machine that breaths for Robbie and he is responding very well. Robbie's trach is not permanent but he will most likely have it in for some time while he is still in the hospital. Once he is able to maintain his own airway/breath without assistance and he is calm and alert when he is not sedated he will move onto the next step of his recovery. They will then put Robbie on a weaker sedative and he will be able to be moved to a room outside of the Neurological ICU. The length of this process is soley dependant on how Robbie responds but we are continuing to stay positive (especially after the good report we received this morning!)

As always, thank you all for everything. Please continue to keep Robbie in your thoughts and prayers (as you can see, it's working!) God Bless.

I really appreciate when someone does reply to me or note something I said, makes me feel warm and tingly and appreciated, so if I can evoke that feeling in someone else, I should be doing it too!
hehe i feel exactly the same way!!
:D it does feel good to be acknowledged.

Well Diva and you (Echo) were so gracious last week to come over to the Red Team thread to congratulate us; I wanted to do the same for your win. Because in the end, we are all winners for taking back our lives and health. Congrats on your PhD, I know how hard you must have worked for that.

Diva, hang in there we all struggle, no matter what team we are on, so don't give up.

nicely said!!! :D

aww thank you so much!! :D:D

I ran the half marathon

Here are some before and afters, I hope they show up. Let's really get on each other to get down to our goal, and get this show on the road! I've been teetering in between 134-145 all this year, I need to get myself in gear once and for all!
WOWEEE happeningf you have come so far! you're an inspiration! well done on losing so much weight. you look so stunning and beautiful!!!

and you give me hope that one day i can run for more than 1 minute at a time!

Sweetie Darlin' (hehe do you watch Absolutely Fabulous?) I KNOW you were busy getting you Ph.D and I am soooo proud of you and I was worried because you hadn't been here after that (well right away anyway) and I was afraid something went wrong.
ME? A star player? No way...ya think so?? I try to be supportive to everyone. I really do. I love my team!

:
yah you are ! a key team mate! :broc:

aww thanks so much Diva. really appreciate that!! so sweet of you to say that you're proud of me. that means alot to me!:hug:

yeh exactly, when you work out really hard your muscles retain water. so just keep watching what you're eating, hitting that gym hard, 5 days a week with 1-2 days rest days. and you will see a drop in no time!
its maths. calories in, calories out! it might just take a little bit of time. hang in there girly!!

what might also help is drinking LOTS of water and watching your sodium intake.

So, how about starting up a Question of the Day to spark some conversation? I'll get us started. Today's question:

Are the weekends tougher for you to stay on-plan? What specific thing are you doing this weekend to keep yourself on-plan?

:

awesome about you feeling great! :broc:

great question!!

what motivates me, is that i dont want to let my team down. so i push it hard during my workouts!! if i cant be so good with the food.

like on friday i went to a pizza slumber party, but turned out the hostess made pasta salad, and garlic bread and carrots and hummus and other stuff. as a STARTER and i said, noway we aint ordering pizza. this is MORE than enough!!
and before the party, i worked out hard! had 3 workouts. kenpo X p90x, running and bike. burned 1200 calories in total including normal just walking around.
the whole week. i only managed to work out 2 days out of the whole week. but those 2 days i worked out REALLY hard. and i had plenty of rest days, which before i never thought were important. but they so are!! and getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep. also important.

and it paid off cause todays my weigh in and i've gone down about 2lbs! yipeeeee. my food has been bad this week. eating out at restaurants a few times, and not eating on plan and taking quite a few days off aswell. but the two days that i did work out, i hit that workout HARD and pushed myself really hard.

it does work. working out hard , really does work. but whats important is to rest aswell. 2 days a week should be REST and getting 7-8 hours asleep

jillian michales says, id rather you get 7-8 hours of sleep and forgo workouts. cause its during sleep that you burn fat!!

also dont eat carbs 3 hours before you go to sleep. because insulin blocks the release of HGF human growth factor, which helps to burn fat.

also when you go to sleep 3 hours after eating dinner. during your sleep, your body will be looking for energy. obviously you wont wake up to eat, so it looks for fat to burn for energy instead. but if you have food in your tummy, it will use that instead of your storage.

so i try to eat 3 hours before i go to sleep.

Hey ladies!!!.. lol its been a crazy week for me.. so am sorry I havent had a chance until now to pop over and say Congrats on winning Week 2.. you girls rawked it! Way to go! I hope we all have another great week... :grouphug:

awwwww thanks Angela! you're so sweet

[U]OOPS! speak...ahhh...type...he has meatballs simmering in the crock-pot. :dizzy: I CAN hit the GYM on Sat ( and soon Sundays too) but I am seriously trying to keep them rest days so when I bust my butt in the GYM all week, my body has a chance to act right by the time I WI on Monday's. :D
exactly!!! thats right hit the gym hard, but rest aswell!!
aww must be so hard to resist!! those yummy smells and foods!!!

[B]Diva i read the article you posted, i really liked it! thanks girly!!

I have a 3.2lbs loss to report and that's with TOM coming so yeah!!!

well done!! awesome!! :cheer3:

Hi fellow Bluesers!!! So I've been granted permission to give an idea for the Week 4 Challenge and I'm super excited about it! It's going to be a "temptation challenge" of sorts and I'm starting the thread for it tomorrow so it'll be ready to go on Tuesday morning. I'm going out of town this week, maybe longer, so I won't be able to log in with my results bc there's no internet where I'll be (at my Mema's in the boonies!), but everyone here keep motivated, particpate in the challege if you want, and I know it'll be great! Watch out for the blue team--we're kicking butt again this week! :carrot: Everybody have a great week and I'll catch up when I get back. :D

Just wanted to tell everyone that I took part in the Run for the Cure this morning :). I can't remember my time last year but I believe it was somewhere around 50 mins - basically I walked the majority of it and jogged a little. Well this year, it was to opposite! I jogged the majority and only had to take a couple of walking breaks. So I completed the 5 k in 38 mins - beating my time by atleast 10 mins!!! I have lost a bit more than 15 lbs since this time last year plus gaining muscle. I have also being practicing jogging on a fairly regular basis. Its amazing what I can achieve with exercise and training :). Imagine what I can do in a year when I lose more weight and continue with jogging - maybe beating my time by another 10 mins ;)

So, this morning was disappointing for me. 179.4. The scale has been up this whole week and I don't understand why. I've done my workouts and counted my calories, but it's still up. So I hate to post a gain, but it is what it is. Sorry girls.

Had a nice weekend though, hope everyone else did too.

Had a really good weekend. Stayed on plan but did not work out. Needed a couple of days rest from the hard workouts I did all week. Plus I had to clean my house it was a mess.:dizzy: Must go shopping after work today. I have no food trying to figure out what to make for lunch.

Rhonda-great ?-What I do to stay motivated is think of my mom. She was morbidly obese from the time she was in her thirties. She was a wonderful mother but it kept her from being able to do a lot of things with us kids. I always wanted to be able to do physical things with my kids. So even though I have been overweight most of my adult life I have always kept it to a manageable amount. Obesity runs in my family so that has always been my motivator.

Echo- Congrats on hitting the workouts hard this week. I guess it did pay off 2 lbs is alot to cheer about! :carrot::carrot:

as i''m feeling poorly. i have a really painful sore throat :( it started yesterday. and i think i got a cold.
the whole year i was fine. cause i was stressed and on edge regarding my exam. as soon as i relaxed, thats when it hits you! lol

i've taken some medicine, so feeling abit better, gonna wait for abit and then maybe do some yoga or something.

question for my fellow team mates as i dont know myself are you meant to exercise when you have a cold?? does it help? make the situation worse? i have no clue :?:

Girlfriend, I have no idea. I know when I have a cold I skip the GYM because it sets off my Asthma. I do hope ya feel better soon. Luv ya!

So I got on the scale this morning to access the damage and to my Surprise :yikes: it was exactly the same! NO GAIN! OMG!!! I was expecting it to show a 3 to 5 pound gain (that's how bad I was). Go figure.... I certainly will NOT use this as an opportunity to be bad. I'm getting back on track today!

I have me a sick & moody teenager home today..YAY me!:dizzy:

You ever have a week where you try a new exercise, and work your butt off and gain weight? I lost weight the last 2 weeks, one of which I was sick and didn't exercise.

It took me 8 years to break the 140 mark, and 7 days to gain enough to be above it. So my question is, is it true that a new exercise, in my case jm's 30 day shred, can make you gain weight initially?

yap! your muscles are probably sore, and theres extra water fluid that is surrounding the muscles, to repair it. the extra water is carrying nutrients to repair the torn muscles. dont worry !

Hi there, Bluesers.

I'm very proud to say that.....tada....I stayed on-plan through the weekend! :carrot: And, I couldn't wait to weigh-in today. Who is this crazy woman?

So, this morning was disappointing for me. I'm so sorry that the scales aren't rewarding you for your hard work. Want me to come over and kick them to the curb for you? Hang in there.

So my question is, is it true that a new exercise, in my case jm's 30 day shred, can make you can weight initially? Yes, yes, yes! But, it's all retained water in your healing muscles. Hang in there. You'll probably get a woosh on the scales soon.

This week, I'm adding water and exercise to my mix. I'm committing to at least 5 glasses of water and 30 minutes on the treadmill each day.

Have a great on-plan day. :cheer3:

Hey Bluesers! Here's to a better week than the last.

Retire- I want to thank you for your "sermon". I sat down yesterday and thought about everything you said. I've realized that I am not superwoman and I shouldn't be so hard on myself for not being able to do it all. I reevaluated my plan, and have made some changes to fit my current life. Glad you had such a great week last week!

Diva-we'll there's no one else I'd rather be on the boat with ;). But I'm thinking bout jumping ship this week. Way to go on not gaining.

Echo-great job on the 2lbs lost! There is a rule on exercising and being sick, but I don't remember exactly what it is (I know not much help).

Mercy-ditto on what Echo and Diva said. 30DS you do the same exercises each day so your muscles don't get a chance to rest. I did it a few times 2 weeks ago, I showed a 5lb gain for most of the week and I let it get the best of me. Just don't get discouraged.

Mary-thanks for the update on Robbie

Sweet-great job on improving your time!

Nella-hang in there, its probably just water retention.

Well I better get ready for work. Everyone have a great day.

It gets old after awhile. believe it or not.I long to see the mountains sometimes, or any hill for that matter lol.

Fall(the season) I miss also as I am originally from Chicago and I really miss the colors instead of the green to mild brown that we get here, but I shouldn't really complain should I?

It's 85 right now and sunny:D How's the weather by you?

Diva

HA! Yeah I've decided that I LOVE the mountains and experiencing ALL of the changing seasons. It's absolutely beautiful. The only way I'd ever leave is if I could live on any secluded beach NORTH of here. It was right chilly here at night and early mornings, like 44-55'ish, but it bumps into the upper 60's to lower 70's and mostly sunny during the day so I can't really complain. We did get some rain last night, so it's a bit wet, but they say the sun will be shinning b4 the day is over with. :) I'm about to break out a light jacket to carry with me to the GYM this morning.

We did get some rain last night, so it's a bit wet, but they say the sun will be shinning b4 the day is over with. :) I'm about to break out a light jacket to carry with me to the GYM this morning.

The beach does call me at times lol, prolly the only reason why I stay here.I LOVE cool nights, miss it the most.

Enjoy your workout!!:hug::hug:

Thanks girls, I'm sure it's just a little plateau. I've been losing steadily 1.5-2 pounds per week, it was bound to come to a halt at some point, lol. I'm going to lower my calories this week and see if I can jump start things again. I wasn't so mad at myself because I know I have been doing things right (for the most part) I was mostly disappointed for having to post a gain for the week, and not contributing to the team loss.

This will be a better week. I won't let that darn scale get to me. I'm going to look at some of the gyms in town today. It's too dark in the early morning to walk/jog and it's getting dark early now too, so I'm running out of daylight! The weather is beautiful here still, but it's the dark I am fighting with. Unfortunately where I walk, it is a new neighborhood, with only a few houses in it and fewer streetlights. I hate to pay for a gym membership, I think they are a rip off, but I can't sustain on Wii fit and videos all winter, and no room for a cardio machine at my house.

Well, I better get some work done, since I'm at work and all, lol. Have a great day girls! :)

Well I had a pretty bad week this past week and I'm actually happy that I only gained 1 pound this week. My commitment was really off, but I'm back to being fully committed and I actually found a really good walking buddy now. Today we walked 3 miles! I feel like I want to cut off my legs, but I know the more I do it the better I will feel. Back OP!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning everyone :)

Happy to report that I am down 1.5 lbs this week and am now in onederland. I need to be extra careful this week and stay on track, as I am going away for the weekend.
I'm glad that the link I posted was helpful. I know that the scale can really mess with our heads at times and can be so frustrating!

Kris, good for you for choosing the healthy menu items. It sure paid off as a 5lbs loss is awesome!

Mary, thank you for the update on Robbie. I am glad that he is improving. I will continue to pray for him.

Echo, great info, thanks! Way to go with your hard workouts and congratulations on the 2 lbs, that is fantastic. I hope you are feeling better soon  As far as exercising I think the rule is as long as you don't have a fever it's ok to exercise. If you feel up to it maybe just do some light workouts and see how you feel.

Bigsexy, have a good trip.

SweetScrumptous - 5K in 38 minutes is fantastic! :congrats:

Nella, good for you for not letting the scale get you down. Just remind yourself that you have been OP so it must be water weight. I bet you will see a nice loss this week.

Diva, that's great that you didn't gain. Good for you for getting right back on track!

Rhonda, great job staying on-plan over the weekend.

Mercy, yes, what Echo posted. Hang in there and I bet you'll be seeing a loss soon.

Jen, great job with your walk. That's great that you have a walking buddy!

I've realized that I am not superwoman and I shouldn't be so hard on myself for not being able to do it all. I reevaluated my plan, and have made some changes to fit my current life.

That's wonderful Dream.

Well I better get started on my workout. Have a wonderful day everyone!

HA! You should have gotten them for me for Christmas! LOL! j/k hehe

Thanks for all the great advice. You're one of my 3FC fav's.

Well, if I lived closer you probably would have had that hoodie. Hugs right back atcha.

Hello team! Sorry that I haven't been around so much. I had a lot of things to do this week, my sister has been moving, so a lot of work. This week I only lost 0.2 pound, at least no gaining.. Will try better next week. I'm planning to run 3 times/week.

Don't underestimate those 0.2 pound losses. They may seem small but they tell you that you're headed in the right direction. Sometimes 0.2 is the best that we could have done. :)

Hi team! Hope everyone's had a good week. I have had a busy week, very busy weekend, and finished this morning with a 5k walk. I have only done one walking "event" before and it was years ago. I had a fantastic time today! :) Someday (next summer?) I'd like to be able to run that distance.

Keep up the good work. You will be able to run that if you keep walking and then add a bit of running. You'll be surprised how fast you'll build up your endurance. Just read SweetScrumptious' post.

Hi fellow Bluesers!!! So I've been granted permission to give an idea for the Week 4 Challenge and I'm super excited about it! It's going to be a "temptation challenge" of sorts and I'm starting the thread for it tomorrow.:D

I love the challenge, and I'm all signed up and rearing to go. Thanks for posting it.

You'll soon be looking for more challenging runs to complete and compete in. Congratulations on your victory!

So, this morning was disappointing for me. 179.4. The scale has been up this whole week and I don't understand why. I've done my workouts and counted my calories, but it's still up. So I hate to post a gain, but it is what it is. Sorry girls.

It's all right. You did everything right. It's probably a bit of water weight. Don't get discouraged and fall off that very low-sided wagon. I did everything right last week too and never lost an ounce.

Had a really good weekend. Stayed on plan but did not work out. Needed a couple of days rest from the hard workouts I did all week. Plus I had to clean my house it was a mess.:dizzy: Must go shopping after work today. I have no food trying to figure out what to make for lunch.

You deserved a well-earned rest. :)

as i''m feeling poorly. i have a really painful sore throat :( it started yesterday. and i think i got a cold.
the whole year i was fine. cause i was stressed and on edge regarding my exam. as soon as i relaxed, thats when it hits you! lol

i've taken some medicine, so feeling abit better, gonna wait for abit and then maybe do some yoga or something.

question for my fellow team mates as i dont know myself are you meant to exercise when you have a cold?? does it help? make the situation worse? i have no clue :?:

Hope you feel well soon. I would stay away from any strenuous exercise with a cold especially if it is in the chest area. A walk probably wouldn't hurt if you are feeling well enough. A great home remedy for a sore throat is to wrap a wet cold piece of cloth around your neck (a long sock will do) and then wrap a warm scarf around the wet cloth (or some other long piece of cloth). The cold cloth draws more white blood cells to the area and helps clear up the sore throat. It really works. I've been doing it since I was a child.

So my question is, is it true that a new exercise, in my case jm's 30 day shred, can make you gain weight initially?

Yep, I concur with the others. From my reading the water stays in the muscles for a few days when they become sore or newly used.

Hi there, Bluesers.

I'm very proud to say that.....tada....I stayed on-plan through the weekend! :carrot: And, I couldn't wait to weigh-in today. Who is this crazy woman?

This week, I'm adding water and exercise to my mix. I'm committing to at least 5 glasses of water and 30 minutes on the treadmill each day.

Great job on the weekend. Looks like you've got a great plan for this week.

Glad I could be of some help. Seems as if you're getting it all together. :0

Well I had a pretty bad week this past week and I'm actually happy that I only gained 1 pound this week. So happy you've found someone to walk with. Your legs will be used to the walking by the end of the week if you keep it up.

It's cold out today. I had on a long sleeved t-shirt, a hoodie, a jacket, a scarf around my neck and gloves on when I went for my walk. I even had up 2 hoods at times. I was finally warm by the time I got back home. The leaves are falling and everything looks bright with the colors of the trees. I'll keep walking until ice forms on the streets. That should be sometime in late December or January. Sometimes, even in the winter the roads are clear enough to walk so I'm hoping for that. I fall on ice. I have traumatic memories. :yikes:

I am going to promise myself that this is just a blip in the road and this week will be much better.

i'm so happy you came on this forum Mercy!!
aww thanks!
you're gonna do great this week! :cb: :cb:

Echo-great job on the 2lbs lost! There is a rule on exercising and being sick, but I don't remember exactly what it is (I know not much help).

.

Thanks so much dream710!! :)

yah i googled it. it said to simply listen to your body and see how you feel. and something about the neck up. if your symptoms affect you from the neck up, its okay to exercise lightly. but if you have a fever and body aches, then best not to.

so i'm just doing very light exercise today. taking lots of rest and drinking loads of water.
occassionaly throughout the day , i am going to do 10 minutes worth of steps. which burns about 40 calories. and being careful with my food intake. i hope i get better by tommorow so i workout.

Nella good for you to put it behind you and its a fresh brand new week this week!

Narnia - :carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot: WOOT! I can't wait to be back in ONEderland! Save a spot for me, would ya!

All you other chicks keep up the good work too. This is a quick post to let you all know that I am signing up for a boot camp. Free class tonight. Six week ordeal starts next Monday. I am doing it for US! We gotta do those things that we know we need, but are so easy to blow off. Seriously... the commitment makes me want to puke. I am seriously creating physical illness symptoms because I am scared to death to pay the $ and then have to show up too. I need to do it though, so I will. One class at a time. Thats all I have to do, right?

I am challenging the rest of you to make this week (and week 4) a new start for something for yourself. Just move that one foot in front of the other. COME ON!!!!!! We can rock it! GO BLUE!

Glad to hear it. I am addicted to the scale and weigh at least once a day but those fluctuations are the reason most people agree a once a week weigh in is best.

Rhonda- :cp::cp: So glad your are doing so well this week. I was just reading about vitamin D for hair loss as well as bone loss. I bought some today to begin tomorrow. My hair is very thin so I am hoping for the added benefit of extra energy and hair!

I had a nice walk this morning. The weather was misty and I even walked through a short shower. The sun is trying to break out now that I've already walked. Considering that it poured rain last night I was happy it was only mist this morning. The temperature was a bit warmer than yesterday. It's too early for cold, cold weather.

This is the beginning of week 4 so let's all do the best we can this week.

Iwanawurkit - I'm sorry you are having a rough time right now. I hope everything goes well with your uncle. So sorry about your kitty. :(

Mary - Glad you had a great day yesterday! I wish I had the motivation to get up early and work out.

Diva - I think it would be a good idea to have your little one checked if he isn't feeling better tomorrow. A mother knows her child best.

Narnia - WAHOO!!!! That's a great accomplishment! Keep on rocking it!

Nixmom - You are a brave lady. I might have to look into a boot camp around here. I need a kick in the pants.

Well, still hanging in at 179.4 this morning. I couldn't find the energy to work out last night. I've been achy for a few days and think I might be coming down with something. Plus it's so hard to get motivated when it's pouring rain for 2 days. I checked into a local gym yesterday, it was a waste of time (and money). I can't wait to live in a big city again. I had the most fabulous gym when I lived in a city (with cute business men all over the place ;) ) I might just have to bite the bullet and go to a gym 25 minutes away, just to be able to go to one that isn't nasty and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Seriously, the guy that owns the one in town looks exactly like Ben Stiller in Dodgeball. Cheese mustache and all. I couldn't look at him without laughing.

Well, I'm going to try and put the pedal to the metal tonight and get in a loooooong workout to make up for being a slacker yesterday.

I went and loaded up on Chicken soup (Various kinds) Orange juice, Flavored Water which he thinks is Kool-Aid, Vita C, Lysol, GermX, tissues, and so on...

I was stressed and that Halloween isle was VERY tempting but I went right past it. Then Wendy's fries were screaming for me, I drove right on by...now I am snacking on Pretzels and drinking Orange juice. I will do my exercising here this week. I think as his caretaker, I may be contagious too? I dunno, but I don't wanna be spreading any grems at the GYM. I hope Jess & I don't get it too.

Just curious!

Hey, guys, you all are so sweet about motivating each other and pumping each other up, I need to step it up. Diva you're a really sweet and thoughtful person.

yay tonight for BL!

I'm going to Disneyland Friday and when I go I cheat! Usually a corn dog for lunch and then the Storyteller's Cafe buffet for dinner. I'm gearing up for it now, staying OP strictly and working out. Usually when I know I'm going to cheat on a certain day I'll think "eh, it's like 2 days away, why bother being good today?" and I start slipping before that day even comes, but no, not now! I can't afford it!

I got my costume (tooth fairy) put together and I need to look decent in it. Right now my saddlebags and cellulite are the stars of the costume.

Retiredone – that’s for the bootcamp luck. Lord knows I’ll need it! How nice to get out for a morning walk. I wish I could, but I have to work too early . And evening is hard when your wiped out already.

SweetScrump- Here’s to a CONTINUING downward trend! You can do it! One day, one decision at a time! You be consistent and the scale will come around…. It has no choice!

Maryshady – Thank you too for the kudos. I will report back about the camp. I spoke to my BFF who did one a year ago and LOVED it. I hope I have the same results!

Okay chicks. Break is over. Will check back tonight or tomorrow.

STAY HEALTHY!!!! GO BLUE!

Hmmmmm That's a good question. I didn't even ask. I was freaked about Matthew and we just left. I am just assuming I shd stay at home since I have the most contact with him. my Mom thinks we shd be walking around here with them surgical masks on.

Anyhoo, have fun at Disney Land!:) I bet you're gonna be cute as a button in your costume!

I just have been catching up here, so sorry about your son, I hope he gets better soon. Don't forget to take good care of yourself Ms Diva.

Ms.happeningf, have fun at the park. There are salads to be had there, so you don't have to totally go off the band wagon.I live 20 min from Disney, Seaworld, and Universal, so I have annual passes and the temptations are great, but I have learned to eat before I go and have a salad there with a BEER:D

Nixmom, I'm retired so a morning walk is right up my alley. I don't like walking in the evening because I'm wiped out myself by then. When I was working I lived close enough to the school to walk to and from each day. I live in a very small town.

Happening, you'll have to tell us all about your visit to Disneyland. I'll never get there so I have to live vicariously. :D

Diva, you poor kids. Take care of yourselves. Hope the flu is contained to your DS, only. It's school. Everything goes around schools. He'll probably be up and feeling fine way before Monday. You're going to have to provide entertainment while he's confined.

Nella, your description of the gym owner made me laugh. We don't have a decent gym in town either.

Must go clean up the study. Photos all over the floor.

I have a question.......

I am doing the 30 day shred and I don't have a bodybugg, so I don't know how many calories I am burning.

My bmr is 1317 and I am tying stay eat that amount of calories for a zero balance.

I totally want to get my bff a bodybugg, I think it would really help her with motivation!

I love Dland! My bf and I have annual passes to there and to Knotts, and we go often, at least once a month! I used to work at Dland back in high school. I can't wait to go now because it's all decked out for Halloween, even Space Mountain has changed inside to go with the theme, with ghosts and etc, so I'm very excited.

I wish I would just eat a salad, and I promise to try, but that buffet is just to die for :(

it's inside the Grand California Hotel and like $26 for a great assortment of high-quality food. A bargain to me, considering it's like $20 for a burger and fries and a drink inside the park.

Hi girls - No loss this week despite 900 minutes of exercise! Can't say I'm not trying! Ah well it's just one week but I'm itching to get into the 100's again. Running is going well I've been doing it at least every other day and I did my farthest continuous run so far the other night (7.5 miles) I also signed up this week for my Ironman training group which begins in February. Can't Wait! Until then I'm just working on increasing my fitness level and decreasing my weight. I need to be close to goal when serious training starts.

Yeah sadly I did. I had 2 bad eating days which were about double what I normally eat... So I about broke even. I was even up a pound at one point but I guess that bit was just water weight. Still at 200 today, but hoping for a downswing in the next day or two. Trust me eating enough is not a problem with me. :)

Hello from a former Chicagoan. Congratulations on your 100lb weight loss, what a tremendous accomplishment.

We all get stuck, or jeopardize our weight loss or goals, hang tight!

Anyhoo, feeling a little down. I hate my boy being sick. It's like when he suffers, I suffer. I hate hearing him doing all that coughing and UGH! :( I just want him better now! I am tired of even hearing about H1N1 on the news...We are living it. I hate hearing about this child died or that one...they have the shots here and there and everywhere, well it's too freakin' late now!!!! grrrrrr I have 3 things going against me if I get it. Diabetes, Asthma and obesity. :( So Yeah...I'm depressed. The only good thing is, it's the non-eating depression instead of the stuff your face one. *sigh*

Hi Diva. It must be somewhat worrisome to have H1N1 in your house with all the publicity buzzing around. But remember for most people it will be no worse than seasonal flu. Keep washing your hands and eating well. Stay away from sugar to keep your immune system running in top notch condition. And eat as well as you can to keep healthy.

I'm doing the Week 4 challenge and drinking all this water has me peeing all day long.
