Hi ladies : ) Here is to a new month!
To those of you who would like to join in....please feel free. All are welcome and we are here to post our minutes/goals to hold ourselves accountable and to help support and encourage one another.
We all have various goals and different fitness levels, there is no wrong or right here whether it be 10 min. a day or walk 3x a week, etc. We tailor our workouts according to our own best individual needs. The girls here rock and are very supportive so if you should be just starting out don't hesitate .
Exercise goals will be listed listed here, while weight loss goals, etc. will be listed in our sister thread, "OctoberWeight Loss Challenge".

October Exercise Goals~
Start P90X (still trying to decide if I'm starting on the 1st or on Monday)
Try not to keel over dead from the P90X--that would be an 'unofficial goal' ;)
Keep on running at least 3 miles 3X/Wk
HIIT 3X/Wk if P90X doesn't kill me :lol:
I am really looking forward to changing up my workout! While my old ST'ing routine has definitely worked, I'm beyond bored with it. :)

Again, I've been thinking about my goals for this month and I really feel as though I have a sustainable exercise plan going on right now and so I'm going to keep it up with just one little difference.
Curves: 3x per week
Abs: 2x per week w/ official video (bye bye half hearted situps!)
And as for the change... I want to continue my running 3x per week but I want to increase my distance to 3 miles. I have an entire month to do it so here's hoping!

So glad to get to start over. I hated seeing my first week of September over and over! LOL So, here's the good stuff...
My October Goals:
1. 1800 minutes
2. Running 5X/wk (follow new 5K training program)
3. ST 2X/wk (continue and expand current program)
I MAY add one more element, but I'm going to wait and see what works for me. My first idea was foiled (as mentioned in the Sept. Weight Loss thread), and I didn't have a back-up. It may take me a few days to find an acceptable alternative. ;)

I didn't do the exercise one for September, but I'm gonna give it a go.
~ Strength Training at least 2x/week
~ Be able to jog for longer than 5 minutes
~ Aim for 275 minutes of exercise/week
The jogging one might go away. I have bad exercise induced asthma, but it's getting better the more I'm doing walking/jogging intervals, so I'm hoping I can get my lungs trained.

I'm in! I was looking for this thread yesterday - so happy it's here today. This is the first Exercise Challenge I have done. Here are my goals:
Workout 5x/week for a minimum of 1000 minutes
Workouts will consist of strength and cardio videos and
Start C25K - I've been saying "I'm going to start this!" for over a month now and never have, but now it's going to happen!!
Please help keep me accountable - especially for the C25K!

On Amy's behalf...C25K is Couch-to-5K. It's a beginner running program that gets you from basically nothing to running 3 miles in 9 weeks. I've done it, as have several other ladies on here. We're all pretty big fans of it!

Since I went WAY overboard with my goal last month and had to revise it, I'm definitely going to be more realistic this month. So my goals are:
Exercise 1620 minutes total for monthand Start C25K. I did this last month but didn't stay consistent so this month I'm going for it again. Amy I'll help hold you accountable if you'll do the same for me! I could definitely use it! :D

As I've just joined a gorgeous new gym that opens tomorrow I'm very motivated for this. Here's my goal:
Minimum of 4x a week for 1000 minutes
I'll be trying out new classes that will be gentle on my bad knee and hitting the cardio wave machine.
I can't wait!

hey girls this is my first fitness challenge too!! My goal is to run 6x a week for 30 mins, and 3 days of strenght training using weights. I have been jogging since july, but recently joined a group that goes 3 days a week it is very motivating and inspiring. good luck girls!!

Thanks ladies for replying. I am going to look into that. I was actually planning on doing a 5k this saturday but with being sick with the flu last week and still coughing I don't think it will be a good idea. But there is another one in November that I want to do and that would obviously help get me ready for that as I have not done any running recently. So maybe that will be added in this month!

Starting out slow with my first real exercise goal:
3 CD's of walking on my treadmill a week!
By that i mean ill pick some of my favorite CD's, one for each of the three days ill be walking a week. I'll end up walking to 12 different CD's. If I'm going to be motivated to exercise, I can't think of a better thing to incorporate then music :).

Sandye - LOL I just wanted to reassure you that you will indeed fall on your face during p90x, that's how you know you are doing it right :) Chest and Back, which you will meet on Monday has about 10 different kinds of push ups that you do to maxium reps, hence fall on your face :) It's awesome!

Sandye - LOL where do you think those arms came from! Let's just say I couldn't do push ups before ;) The trick is to do whatever you can in regular push up form and then if you can't do them go to your knees, as long as you go as deep as you can you'll build up to more and fall on your face. I bet you'll surprise yourself.

Sandye - I could not do pushups when I started the program and after a month I really felt there was progress. Do your best and push hard (;)) and they will come. I am going to keep monitoring this thread and watch your and Tummy's P90x progress.

TummyGirl - your workout minutes have inspired me! My norm is 30 min per day... If I want to lose this weight before vacation next month, there's no reason I couldn't do at least an hour workout! I've been slacking! I've already ran my C25K W1D2 today but tonight I'm going to do another 30 min MINIMUM and THEN I will post my daily workout stats!

Tummy~ haha, I just might!!! Actually, I was trying to figure out what days to do HIIT and what days to get my 3 mile runs in...I'm thinking I should do my 3 miles on Mon, Wed & Fri (as much as I love running on Saturdays) because for the most part those are they days my legs will be less worked with P90X. I mean, I just don't know if I can run the same day as doing Plyometrics! :eek: (and you've convinced me to stick with the Classic--thanks a whole lot you wicked drill sgt you!! :drill: :lol:) Or maybe I should do it M, W & S? Ack! I'm so conflicted!!!!
I need to hurry up and make up my mind--hubby will be home in about an hour and I'll need to know which workout to do! :lol:

Sandye - I sometimes do HIIT on my Plyo days, it's hard and I stopped for a bit and just did it on Th and Sat so I didn't kill myself. I find that whatever cardio I do the harderst stuff should be M, W, F because they go with resistance days. However, kenpo isn't too hard once you're used to it so getting in extra that day is no problem. Yoga is also easy to add cardio too but it's really long so it all depends on your time restraints. LOL, glad you decided on one of them at least, I'd just hate to see you lean out more, hubby won't know where to find you anymore. And I have no doubt inches will still come off, especially with the Ripper!

Tummy~ well, I went ahead and ran my 3 miles tonight--it just made sense to do it today rather than attempt it tomorrow. HIIT is my 'easy' cardio now--funny huh? I remember when I first started it and it was super challenging! :) The body is a marvelous thing isn't it? I don't really want to get smaller--just tone up all the wobbly stuff--which will make me smaller I guess, but I'm not looking to lose any more (well, besides the weight I gained this weekend ;))--but you know what I mean. ;)

Tummy~ OUCH!! Owie, owie, ouch-ouch-ouch!!! For the love of Peter, Paul and Mary!! I started feeling a little soreness in my chest last night, but today--:eek: Holy cow!! And to think, while I was doing that workout yesterday I was thinking, 'this isn't too horrible, I'll eventually get the hang of push ups, but he pull ups are easy peasy' :lol3: silly, silly, stupid me! Oh my shoulders and my chest and my ABS!!! I haven't been this sore in ages!!! I don't think I was ever this sore with my old routine--proof positive I needed a change huh? Plyo was intense and FUN!!! I don't have a mat though and I was trying to use my yoga mat and nearly fell on my face when I tripped on it!! So, I pitched it to the side and just did the workout on the concrete. Then I wacked my leg on the stool doing those cross over thingies--I'm sure I'll be sportin' a bruise in no time! :lol: So glad I bought this!! Thank you for all your help on everything!!! :)

Sandye - I was thinking this morning that plyo first, then hiit would be better than the way I was doing it. B/c like you, my HIIT is easy cardio now :lol3: The way I was doing it I was getting pretty popped out by the time it was afternoon and plyo time. Today, I woke up at 5:30a to do plyo first since dd is starting to get sketchy with her afternoon nap and interrupt the workouts. I imagine, I'll have more than enough energy to do HIIT later today. Glad you loved it, I found the sore muscles the same, it hurts less each week although you get this general stifness by week 3 then recovery week and it all fads away, then you switch some of the resistance workouts and you start feeling it all over again, ie where I'm at now. It's awesome!

Sorry to do this, I hope it's OK. Last night when I did my elliptical I went as fast as I normally jog (used my jogging playlist :) ).

I don't have time to do personals at the moment, but I just realized I haven't posted my exercise yet this month.
My exercise is going to be very unconventional for this month, just to let you know. It's October, and in my world that means HALLOWEEN is only a few weeks away! Yikes!
Halloween is a full time hobby for me and DH. We work on building Halloween props and other stuff all year just looking forward to October. We make the whole house into a haunted house, and then we open it up to the neighborhood people to walk through and let us scare them the week before Halloween. (While this is pretty common in the states, we're pretty much the only people that I know of in Sweden who do this. Which makes it all the more fun.)
Anyway, alllllllll my time and exercise this month will have something to do with preparing for Halloween. There's still so much left to do! :)
So, here's my exercise so far this month:
10/1: 0 minutes - Took the day off
10/2: 101 minutes - C25k 26 minutes, painted panels and hung them 75 minutes
10/3: 75 minutes - Painted and hung wall panels 75 minutes, among other Halloween crafting things
Total: 176 Minutes for the week
10/4: 75 minutes - Painted and hung wall panels 45 minutes, cleaned the porch stuff out to the garage 30 minutes
10/5: 150 minutes - Painted and hung wall panels 50 minutes, walked in stores 40 minutes, threaded fabric on line 60 minutes.

Tummy - I bow down to you! 800+ minutes of exercise in a week!?! How do you find the time & energy for it? You are my hero!
I've just been updating my first post but I met and exceeded my goal of 275 minutes for the week. I was going to be short 20 minutes, but I made myself get back up and do 30 minutes of JMs NMTZ. I'm glad I did, but it sucked at the time, lol.

~ not skip any days with C25K, even if I have to repeat weeks, I won't skip Days, I plan to do C25K on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday

I haven't posted in a while because I've been super busy trying to get the whole haunt set up for Halloween, but I wanted to make sure you guys didn't think I fell off the face of the earth. Hehehe!
I must say I'm totally impressed with all of you keeping up with your goals this month!!! You are doing so great! Keep it up! You are an inspiration!
As for me, I'm getting in way more exercise this month than I expected. I've already almost hit my monthly goal, so I'm going to up my goal to 2000 minutes this month. It's not conventional exercise, but boy o boy does my body feel it! :)

10/1: 0 minutes - Took the day off
10/2: 101 minutes - C25k 26 minutes, painted panels and hung them 75 minutes
10/3: 75 minutes - Painted and hung wall panels 75 minutes, among other Halloween crafting things
Total: 176 Minutes for the week
10/4: 75 minutes - Painted and hung wall panels 45 minutes, cleaned the porch stuff out to the garage 30 minutes
10/5: 150 minutes - Painted and hung wall panels 50 minutes, walked in stores 40 minutes, threaded fabric on line 60 minutes.

VERY dissappointed to report I may have to take a break from running and any other exercise requiring me to bear weight on my right foot. I'm taking it day by day. Ran with the pain today, but my mom (an RN) recommends I stay off it 'til the pain leaves. Not sure what to do....

MsP - Oh goodness, is it a stress fracture or something? That's terrible but hate to say it but I bet mom knows best.
My October exercise goals are:
~ exercise 6 days per week, Sundays off (or Saturdays, lol).
~ not skip any days with C25K, even if I have to repeat weeks, I won't skip Days, I plan to do C25K on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
I am tracking my minutes to see what I do without a minute goal so that I can make a minute goal next month.
