Hi All,

It's been a busy Sunday around here! We went to Home Depot and bought everything to make the fence to put up around our little pool. I can't believe they're making us put a fence up...it's soo lame. It's just one of those little 30" high (only 2 ft. of water) pools with the filter...like the next step up from a blow up pool!! The town said anything over 2 ft and with a filter has to have a 4 ft. non-climbable fence! We didn't want to spend a lot, but we've ended up spending over 150.00 for supplies!! We decided to get 4x4 posts and lattice for the fence, thinking it would be the cheapest way to go. I can't believe it's gonna cost soo much! We're gonna put it together with screws though, so we can take it down. The pool is 12' diameter, so the fence will be about 16x16. I hope it goes up as easy as DH makes it sound!

Hope everyone's having a great weekend!

Hi everyone! Hope you don't mind a new person joining your group. I used to be a frequent poster at 3FC for a couple of years. I posted mainly on the various WW boards. I have since permanently dropped out of WW. Just wasn't working for me. I don't blame the plan, it was because of me that it didn't work. You just can't lose weight spending all your points on 2-point Skinny Cow ice cream!! I floundered on my own for several months and then on 4/15/02 I decided to join Jenny Craig and have lost 22 pounds so far and have another 35-45 to go. I am happy with JC so far, although it is expensive. But, I decided when I started that my health and happiness is priceless!

A little about me....I am 32, divorced, no kids, one dog and one cat who are my babies. My life is kind of overwhelming right now. I recently left a job that was making me sick and miserable and was fortunate enough to find a much better environment to work in. Only problem now is I live one hour+ away and the commute is really killing me. I plan on moving closer, but am waiting for my house to sell first. That has been very slow going, I guess because of the economy. I am really looking forward to getting out of my house even though I love it. I stayed in it after the divorce and it's just been more responsibility and money that I want to do on my own. I am looking forward to moving into an apartment for a year or two and take things a little easier. In the meantime I guess I just have to keep driving! That extra two hours driving makes it hard for me to exercise as much as I want too and really wears me out. Can't wait to get this house sold!

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself and hopefully I can get to know you guys better as we go.

Hi Debbie!!

Welcome to our thread!! Sounds like you've got a good plan going. Where do you live? I'm 34, married, expecting our 1st child in January. I live in northern NJ, and I wish I could quit my job that I hate!! :D

OK, where is everybody?!?! I know it 's summer, and I know y'all would rather be outside, if you're stuck inside working, but come on, at least pop in!! :D

I'm stuck at work. Can't wait to get home and fill the pool up, so tomorrow after work we can go swimming...OK, it's not big enough to swim, but I can float, tan, soak, splash around...

Tell me what you do to keep cool in this weather?

Good Morning Everyone!!

Well I don't have time to respond to everyone (sorry) but welcome to all the new people. We made it through the move. Wow - moving is ****! I hope we like it in our new home because I don't plan to move again too soon. We're actually mostly unpacked which is great but the place is still a bit of a mess of course. Haven't been able to cook soon but I'm starting this weekend if not before because I can't afford the calories or the money of eating out all the time.

As for the weight I think I made it through the move mostly in tact. While I didn't eat the best I didn't eat that much - too hot and too busy so things are okay. At least last time I checked. I'll weigh myself tomorrow and post on the goals thread.

Glad everyone's okay and I'll check in later when I have more time to respond.

Hi All,

Elisa- Good to see you back! Glad the move went well. I can't believe you're almost unpacked!!! You guys must not be pack rats. I don't think, DH and I will be totally unpacked until we have a big house with lots of room!!

Debbie- I'm with you, I prefer to stay inside in the hot sticky weather, unless I have a pool to go swimming in, then I'm a water rat!!

Sinnrah- Glad you got a little quality time in with DH.

Have a great day all!!

Lauren - we're a little bit of pack rats but I'm learning to throw more things out and we will still probably have some boxes in the basement that we don't have room for. And I know that if I don't do it right away some stuff will stay in boxes for years!! :)

Good morning everyone!

I didnt make it to this board yesterday! I had a really busy day! And weekend for that matter!

I am doing really well! I am having trouble with getting in 2000 calories a day but I am sticking with my goals of 55% carbs and 25% fat! I need to get in a bit more protien though.. Besides protien powders, anyone have any ideas other than the usual meats, eggs and beans?

I am doing well in the exercise department too! Got on the treadmill both Saturday and Sunday. To yesterday off because TOM is finally hear and I needed to take a day off! So I napped when the kids did. MAn did that make me feel a TON better!

Debbie - WELCOME! I am an ex-WW person too! I was on the plan in 1999-2000 and in 10 months lost 56 pounds. But I cannot imagine counting points for the rest of my life so I decided to just go in and do it by eating healthier. It might go slower than a traditional Diet, but so be it.

GOOD for you on your success with Jenny Craig! What an awesome job you are doing!

Elisa - Welcome back! WOW almost completely unpacked! That is great! I know the feeling about moving though. We moved to WA from CA in 2000 and although we have already out grown this house, I dont want to move too soon! LOL!

LBH - I was gardening most of the weekend! Also the kids were in the wading pool! LOL! so mom was shaperon for that too! Yesterday it was SOOOOO HOT!! That is where I was! LOL!

That seems a little riddiculous to me too about the fence, but I guess they feel a bit safer than sorry later. Did you get that fence done?

Hope all are well! I will check in later!

Hi,

Yes, I am in Texas and I die of heat. I had to put my spare tire back in the trunk of my car and by the time I was through I had sweat pouring off of my head. I try to get in the swimming pool but the water is not even cool it is warm....like bathwater. :dizzy:

Okay gotta go......

Karen- How about peanut butter for a protein source? I did a search for protein sources...tuna has 23g. per serving.

Funny thing about the fence...DH called me this AM when he got to work to tell me to go down the street next to our and you can see through to the back yard of one house that clearly has a regular size above ground pool and the yard is not fenced in!! I told DH I'm going to start driving around, writing down all the addresses of houses I see with pools that are not fenced in. I didn't spend over 150 bucks to build a fence for nothing!! I'll be this towns worst nightmare!! (Man, are those prego hormones gettin' all nasty like that?!?!)

Lauren!

Thanks for the idea about the peanut butter and Tuna! I always forget the tuna for some reason!

I have to be careful with PB! I used to eat a whole jar at one sitting in College! It is my absolute favorite and definately a "Red light" food! :)

All those pools with out fences? And they are making you do it? You go! Get all those addresses.. I'd say there was a double standard there somewhere!

Hello..no excercise this week yet...Having trouble with "pulling" in my groin area..The baby has started growing I think and the belly is right there with it and I am feeling it..Not pain, but uncomfortable. He/She is really moving and kicking....DH accuses me of "moving" my stomach to fake baby movements..Boy, I am talented~~~~~ ;)

Welcome Debbie!!!I am also expecting my first child in Dec..Diet to start again in Jan!!!!:p

Lauren--The pool sounds great!!!I cant wait to go to the beach next week to get away from this heat!!!*L*

Hi! We just got back from our Baltimore/Philly trips for the wholesale shows. Kenny did really good at Baltimore and I did O.K. in Philly. We are more than overbooked for wholesale accounts for the year (a good problem to have).

Bad news...I had too many dinners out, too many drinks, etc...and not even a smidgen of exercise (other than walking 2 blocks to the restaurants)....I'm up 5 lbs. Tomorrow is get serious time - we're home for 3 weeks so maybe I can get some exercise in during these weeks. - jul

Hi everyone,

I have just come back from my weekend on the beach. It turns out that lots of other friends and family were there as well, so it was definitely NOT boring! I managed to be good with the wodka (not ONE!) and the peanuts (my sister told me a disgusting story about a test they did for a consumer org. in the Netherlands: it turns out that salted peanuts, because they are served in bars over and over again for ages (you know how long they keep) contain traces of urine bacteria....

Jul, don't lose heart, just start again!

Hello everyone. Just a quick post tonight as I am TOOOO tired! I did pretty bad on my plan today. Have had several stressful days at work and reverted to my old candy-binging habits. Will try to be back on plan tomorrow and not beat myself up too much about it as all that generally does is send me into a downward spiral!

Karen - What about cheese as a protein? I know I use lowfat string cheese as a meat exchange sometimes on my plan. It's so convenient because each little individually wrapped piece is exactly 1 oz so portion control is a snap. I like to cut mine up and eat it on 4 or 5 crackers. I never would have thought cheese and crackers would be a diet snack food! Cottage cheese is another idea, although not everyone likes it.

Rabbitt - I am in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area.

Sorry I don't have time to respond to everyone but I really must go night-night now. ;)

Hi everyone,

Due to Boss coming in yesterday I couldn't finish my mail in time. Am having a full house these days, as friends have come over for the holidays (from Serbia) They're going to Santorini (island) on Friday so from that time on I'll be a bit better again.
One of the turtles (ET, the big one) turned itself over accidentally and died yesterday, poor thing. I found it when I came back, now I have only one (Yoda), so I might ask my friend to give me another one, I feel bad it doesn't have company.
My car needs repairing (250 $) because the springs have gone completely, which I found out yesterday. About the only thing I am happy with is the eating right. I'm sticking to it...
Sorry for yesterday's disgusting peanut-story, but for me it was a great help in staying off them...
I want to welcome our new girls and wish them strength. "Just" stick to it, and remember eveybody makes mistakes and binges now and then on stuff they shouldn't eat. Debbie, low-fat cheese is a good protein source, just watch out, because most cheeses contain a lot of salt (except fo cottage cheese)
crotchet Karen, if you're sticking to your exercize plan very well, you might have put on some muscle, or for example if you et smt that was salty, you might just have some water retention. If you stuck to the plan, you shouldn't let it get you down. just normal.

Rabbit, hope to hear from you before you go!

Lauren, Hurray for the pool! Wish I had one (on my balcony)

Eliza, I am thinking about moving and the thought alone makes me wince. I have been moving all my sisters and friends around for years, and I still dream about it sometimes...

Crotchet Karen, forgot to ask: what kind of plan are you doing, 2000 cals a day would be heaven for me (I am trying to stick to 1500-1700 but it's not easy)

Lauren, what happened to DHB? how many non-fenced pools did he count?

lots of love and wish you all strength and fun,

Vassiliki - I am just following the USDA Guidelines for healthy eating using 2000 calories as my goal as that is what the nutritionist at the doctor's office has given me as my guide. For a 35 year -old woman under 2000 is to low even for weight loss. my family has a history of heart disease and osteoarthritis so I have to take all that into consideration when determining my guide. Also my break down of calories is 55% carbo 30% protien and 25% Fat with only10% of that 25% as saturated....

I had a great day yesterday! Got on the tread mill and completed the session even though the bloating is still here. I had a mini asthma attack nothing serious just constricting.. but I had to stop for a bit.

Eating is going well but I still cannot break 1800 calories! UGH! I might have to start looking into eating a few more higher fat foods My carbs are up to over 70% too...

anyway.. that is my day! I'll check in later!

hi all.
My first day counting points again was yesterday and I stayed well within my range. Woohoo. Tonight I have to face the music for the last couple weeks' holiday.

Karen - it's probably just a short lived little gain.~ Is it hard to keep track of proten vs. carbs vs. what type of fat?

Deb - good luck getting back on plan. ~ My brother lives in the DFW area - I'm visiting him soon & am quite excited about it - a family get together.

Greek - sorrry about ET. ~ Oh, I'll be checking in daily while I'm home. ~

Hi All,

Things have been nutty around here this week...there's a chance the FDA might be coming to audit us, but they don't give any warnings, so I'm just making sure my stuff is in order! We didn't do anything wrong, but one of our monitors found out that one of the sites they visit is being fraudulent (sp), so the site is being investigated by the FDA, IRB, and all that, so it's natural that they may come here, and to the sponsor. Ugh... I'm off tomorrow so I'll probably be here late tonight.

My mom is coming over to help me clean all day tomorrow, because we have the big July birthday's party at our place Saturday. My house needs some serious work in case it rains and I have to fit 25 people in it!! Was discussing reorganizing the LR with DH, but he's not thrilled about it. Told him we should sell the big whole wall entertainment center and get an armoire type, that's compact, so we can move it to another wall and make the room look bigger. I told him once the baby comes, we're gonna need room for baby implements, like a swing, boucer thing, heck, even just for room on the floor to spread out a blanket!! I don't think we have an area that's 3 ft. square!!

Anyway, gotta get back to work, will try to check in tomorrow AM before Mom shows up! Have a great day all!

I've hit the walking hard morning and night, have used the exercise videos in the mornings. Lots of water and a day of just raw fruit and raw veggies and I dropped 3 of those 5 lbs. Now if I can just keep up with it for a while I may see some results. I'm still 5 lbs over my lowest (this go around) and still 20 lbs away from my goal for the year. Can I drop 20 lbs over the next 5 mts??? "Can we do it? Yes we can!!" (borrowed from Bob the Builder). - jul

It's Friday! Almost weekend...

Jul, way to go on the 3 lb's! And yes, I think it's possible to lose 20 pounds in the coming 5 months (4 pounds month is a reasonable goal)

Hi Karen, wish I could stay in that range, anyway I think you're doing a great job the way you're handling things!

Lauren, good luck (and fun) on Saturday!

Greek: I sure hope I can. That was to be my goal for the whole year 20 lbs in 12 mts seemed almost too easy....maybe thats why I've waited so long...I work better under pressure.

Someone mentioned baby names: I just got an email that a friend had a baby girl last night her name is Zoie Kamyille. I think thats pretty. If we had had girls we were going to go with Hailey Kyle or Madison Lyle. But that was way before those two names became popular, if I had a girl now I don't think I'd use those first names.

Our friends from Alaska are due in today (used to live across the road ). We haven't seen them in two years. I must get the house cleaned and guest beds ready. Going to do another raw fruit and raw veggie day today plus a couple walks, the house cleaning, and a video if time.

Hello All,

It sure has been busy this week!

Sorry I haven't been around in a while, I've been reading just not posting. I've been PMSing for the last two weeks it really s*cks. I think my body is getting back to it's natural rythm which was why I went on BC in the first place. Two weeks ago at WW I gained back all I'd lost the previous month, but I was major bloated, so I'm hoping it was mostly water, this week we skipped because we had a picnic at work, we'll see how next week goes.

Rabbit - You're quote from Dr Suess cracked me up. Sorry about the gain, sounds like you're on the roller coaster with me. If you figure out how to get off let me know  .

RR - And what is wrong with having a girl watch "Bob the Builder"??? No gender typing allowed! Actually if we do have kids, I'm afraid I'll get a girl who likes girly things and I'll be lost (major tomboy here).

LBH - Good luck with the cleaning. Your July sounds like my family's August!

Elise - Glad the move went well, I can't believe that you're unpacked already. We just went thru some more boxes in the basement to reorganize and we moved in Oct. I figure at this rate I'll be done in 2025 (as long as we don't move before then  )

Jul - Congrats on getting back on track. Have you ever come to the AnnArbor, MI art fair? I went last week and was thinking of you.

Greek - Sorry about the turtle :(.

Newbies - Welcome!!!

Should probably go get something done :^: or maybe I'll use the TOM excuse to take it easy. I'll try to come back more often this week.

Have a great one everyone!!!!!

Tech, I'd love to do the Ann Arbor show but it was the same weekend as the wholesale show in Philly. I'll have to check dates for next summer.

RR: have fun in FL. We had a great time at St Augustine and Naples. Disney was good too except I had strep throat and was not feeling up to par. The boys have already starting a savings jar for our next trip to FL (maybe in 2004). I really want just me and Kenny to go to St Augustine.

Our AK friends just left, had a wonderful visit. Everything stayed really clean until dinner and I forgot that the crockpot of soup was still plugged into the wall. I lifted the whole thing instead of just the insert to take to the table ----- it spilled everywhere!! 1/2 of it stayed in the crock, so we were still able to eat our dinner. But I had to clean the counters, cabinets, stove front, and mop the floor again. My floor probably didn't know what to think being mopped twice in one day!
