Hi Everyone! Well this whole challenge started with me challenging a fellow 3fc member to a weigh in and she (Kristin) gladly accepted my challenge. I then told another 3fc friend and she (Jackie) also gladly accepted the challenge! This will be my first weigh in where I have tried really hard to lose weight and I thought I would include all the 3fc members to join me in it to support each other and to hold each other all accountable. I chose Halloween for our weigh in date because it's a scary day and of course everyone will be scared on that day when they step on the scale not knowing if the number will change, remain the same, or increase. The reason I want to do the weigh in in about a month is because in a 1-2 week weigh in I don't think major changes can be seen in such a short period and if I look at the scale and I see my weight has stayed the same or increased I would be too upset to probably continue with my new lifestyle, so I like to give it a month so I can see big changes. So.. I challenge all you guys to a weigh in on October 31st!

Who ever is the biggest loser will win a scarf that is hand knitted by me! =) I will post pictures of the scarf and the winner can choose one or if you don't like any of them I can custom make you one with your choice of color and I can also label your name on the scarf with little beads! Have fun and good luck to everyone!

Requirements to join challenge:
-Must post a reply to this thread with your weight as of now
-On October 31st before 11:59pm you must send me a private message telling me how much you have lost and your current weight (and please be truthful)
-Introduce yourself a little bit and tell me why you decided to join this challenge (whether it was for fun or to get motivated or you just wanted to join..etc)

If there happens to be a tie I will choose the winner who posted first so please wake up early on Halloween and post your weight first!

(New Information) Instead of posting your weight loss for the Halloween challenge on this thread please send me a private message on October 31st 2009 and tell me how much you have lost and your current weight before 11:59pm.

I'm in :D My starting weight is 233.2 I am joining this because a little incentive goes a long way with me! Kind of like a carrot at the end of a stick to keep me moving forward!

A little about myself: I am 44 and work full time (university professor). I have had weight issues forever it seems. I started gaining weight after high school (although I was not "skinny" then either - 170 pounds and wore a size 10/11 - I was trim and muscular and active) Several years ago I got down to 195 (from 265) and then slowly gained most of it back over a couple years. I am committed to losing this weight for good and staying healthy.

I count calories now and am working my way through the couch to 5K program (completed W5D2 this morning). I like the burgandy scarf ;)

Thanks Cheerios for opening up our own thread! I'm going to work hard to get that scarf! :D I only weigh myself when I wake up in the morning, so today is too late if you need today as a starting # on the scale. I actually started with Cheerios on Sunday. (At least that's the day I held myself accountable) I'm afraid to post my weight here due to my daughter being very nosey and I don't want her to know how much I weigh until I lose a lot of weight! Cheerios knows pretty much what I weigh, so until I hop on the scale 10/31/09, I won't reveal it. All I can tell you is I at least want to lose 70#, of course not by Halloween though! I'm going to try real hard to keep on track this time. I can't wait for payday, which is this Friday, so that I have a lot more healthier food to choose from. I'm going nuts right now with the sweet/crunch syndrome. I scavenged through my pantry and found an individual 90 calorie pack of Fit 'N Active cinnamon snacks. (Last package 'til Friday!) :( I had some apples too, which are convenient for me, 'cause I can just grab one off my apple trees! I still have a lot of cravings to work through right now, so probably will go a little nuts 'til payday.

Karen: Welcome to our thread! I'm glad you are able to join us. Congrats on working up to a 5K and Congrats on being so brave and posting your weight. I wish I could be that brave now. (I promise I won't cheat on how much weight I lost come 10/31/09) I can also promise you that we will be here for you, every step of the way! (If we don't, remind us please!) Sometimes things get a little hectic at times and we're not able to post.

A little about myself: I am 48 y/o, but young at heart! :) I work part-time reading water meters. Even though I'm trudging thru peoples backyards in all kinds of weather conditions, I still have a weight problem! (Probably because the "Old Me" never exercised on my off time!) Since Sunday, things have changed and I'm trying to walk 30-60 min. p/day with my dog and she loves it! As for my weight history: I have always had weight issues to work through. I was a chunky kid and went on my first weight loss plan when I was in 7th grade. I went from 140# at 5'2", to a tiny 105#! By the time I reached High School, I weighed 117#, but grew 2.5" taller! By the time I graduated from HS I weighed 160#. Once out of HS, I kept myself busy and kept myself accountable about my appearance and lost 25#. I stayed at about 140# for quite a few years. Then...I got engaged and thought I was too fat at even 140# and dropped down to 122# by my Wedding Day! I later bounced back to about 135-140# and stayed there 'til I got pregnant! I've been on a "Teeter-Totter" ever since! Some good years, the most recent one was back in 2001, when I turned 40, and lost 60#! (3FC's was there for me every step of the way! I belonged to the Stay At Home Mom's thread.) ECMom and I were the starting authors of this thread. I looked so great back then, but I had a goals to work for back then... The first one was that I wanted to be "Fit and 40!" The second goal was that I was going to Hawaii with my husband and a bunch of co-workers of his. I didn't want to be the biggest blimp on the Island, so I worked real hard to lose the weight! Unfortunately, after the trip, I didn't keep myself accountable and gained the weight back and then some! So...here I am once again, on yet another big weight loss journey! I think I can do it and keep the weight off this time around! I would like to have the entire 70# off of me by the Summer of 2011, so that I can be: "Fit and 50!" :D

I plan on losing the weight this time by watching my calories/fat/carbs and a lot of exercise.

Goal: 10# by Halloween!

Hi ladies--good challenge Cheerios! I am also doing the Even Sexier By Thanksgiving challenge, but I think breaking it up into today-Halloween and Halloween-Thanksgiving will help keep me focused. This morning I was 153.6 lbs.

I had my first baby on July 27th, and I am working to lose the weight I gained during pregnancy (plus a little extra). Once the rapid post-delivery weight loss tapered off, I ended up at 162 lbs. My goal is 130-135. While I am on maternity leave I have been walking everyday with the stroller and doing cardio on the elliptical machine most days. I'm also watching calories.

Good luck to everyone else in this challenge!

Hi :) Can I join too?

I would love a mini-challenge like this to get me re-motivated. My current weight is 161 but my goal weight is 130.

A little about me: I am a stay at home wife and mom who takes care of not only my dh and dd but also my sister, mom and niece. Need something, they call me. Have a problem, they call me. Unfortunately I have little time for myself. I gained weight over the years and just never did anything about it. After I had my dd, I had gallbladder problems and lost 15 pounds (went from 175 to 160). Of course, once I had surgery I gained it all back plus 8 more. Finally I decided I needed to do this for me, so this past July I joined Jillian Michaels online and through a lot of hard work, I lost 19 pounds. I've since hit a plateau and think this challenge will give me a swift kick in the butt and help get me going again.

I like the burgundy scarf (watch out econ nerd!:) ) and think it will look great on me when I go to ME for Thanksgiving this year :)

Hi girls I want to join - My weight this morning is 202. I love halloween! Heh!

I'm an artist from Chicago and I've lost 100lbs so far (was down about 116 but had to relose some of that weight) in my free time I train for triathlons. I just did my 3rd one on Aug 31st. Other then that I like to make things too but I don't knit, so a scarf if I happen to win would be cool, but I'm happy just to lose any weight I'm trying to get as close to goal by Feb as possible.

:welcome: Turning30, SheilaB & Idealmuse ! Glad to see you all join us! :)
Turning30: :congrat: On your first baby! :bb: What did you have? A girl, or a boy? Good for you for taking walks with the baby. Also, cardio/elliptical machine and calorie counting! It's awesome that you are nipping this in the bud now, as it gets harder & harder to fit everything in once you are back to work. (And the older you get.) SheilaB: You are definitely a busy gal! I've found out that you have to say NO! once in awhile, otherwise you end up with major burnout. (Believe me, I've been there!) It takes an awesome person to take on all the extra people living in your home. Congratulations on losing 19#, you go girl! :cheer: Don't worry about Plateauing right now. As long as you hold yourself accountable, the weight will come off eventually. Keep up the good work! Idealmuse: Congratulations on losing over 100#! :woo: What a way to lose weight by doing Triathlons! Is there a registration fee/deposit involved prior to the triathlons? You said you're an artist; what type of art work do you specialize in? I'm a sewer & can be a crafter at times, but drawing & painting I'm not too good at.

Well gals, my butt is starting to fall asleep, so I'd better get going. It's time for me to kick some butt! :kickbutt: See ya all later!

Freckles - Yeah, signing up for the races keeps me motivated to exercise for sure... for several reasons... 1) You have to pay for them and 2) You get scared into working out for it, otherwise you might not finish... and 3) Its great cross training and great for burning calories.

I mostly make journals and do metalwork/jewelry: http://moon23.etsy.com like this stuff... If you look in the sold section (click on where is says 117 sales) you'll see more examples.

Nice to meeya!

Idealmuse: Perhaps I'll join you in one of these when I'm fit enough. As I don't live too far from you. I live about 40 min. north of Milwaukee, WI I'm going to check out the website right now. I wasn't able to see the switch plates, darn! I can't believe I just sat down again after having such a numb butt! At least I got my walk in today! Now, it's back to the garage to go through some more boxes.

I'm in! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays! I love the weather and decorations.
My weight as of this morning is 172. Hopefully I can lose between 7-10 pounds by then.

Well, I am 22 years old and a full time college student. I'm taking 19 hours this semester so that I can graduate this December. I'm majoring in Psychology and minoring in Biology and plan on eventually getting my teaching certification. So I'm in school five days a week and currently work on weekends. I'm looking forward to October 18 though because that is my last day of work until after I graduate! I also tutor my little brother a few days a week, and I help my boyfriend and two of our friends with their Business Statistics class. So between all of that and my own schoolwork I have some trouble fitting in exercise. We now have an elliptical machine though so I've been trying to rotate doing that with Jillian's 30DS. I'm also counting calories and waiting for my GoWear Fit to come in!

I would like to join!! Over the past year I gained back most of the weight I spent three years losing. I keep telling myself that I'll get out there and start doing what needs to be done, but I always find an excuse to sit on the couch instead. A super sweet scarf (they really are lovely) sounds like wonderful motivation. My weight this morning was 184.4

I just turned the big 2-6. I work a boring job. I finally ended a three year relationship that wasn't good for me. As a result, I'm crashing at an understanding relatives house and missing my furbabies terribly!!

Ideal muse - I've done lots of road races but am taking some swim lessons over the winter (indoor pool) so that I can try a tri in the spring. I'd love to hear any tips you have!

:welcome2: to our challenge zoochick777 & AmberD! It's always nice to have a few more to join us to keep us in line! The more people we have rooting for us, the more accountable we stay with our plans!
Zoochick777: The college life sure can wreak havoc on your body, can't it? Especially with 19 hours of classes in one semester! Good for you that you are getting your weight under control with school & everything! I'm sure exercise is hard to fit in after such a tiring day of school/tutoring. What is GoWear Fit? Keep up the good work on exercising & calorie counting!

AmberD: :bday2you: I hope you went out and celebrated with some friends! Sorry to hear that your relationship didn't work out for you. Take time now to focus on yourself. You can lose that weight, just like you did a few years back. We are here to help motivate each other! And...you can look at the BIG PICTURE with perhaps planning a Tri in Spring! You go girl!

I'm doing pretty good today with staying on track. I went for an hour walk with my dog. I was sick of the same old road by my house, so Gracie & I got in my car and headed to a little village close to my house. What a great change of pace! Lot's of hills though, we were pooped when we got home! I made myself a nice, cool, crisp salad for lunch. Went to the Doctor earlier today and weighed myself on their scale. It's really close to what mine read, so I know mine should be pretty accurate. I weigh 8# more on my daughter's scale, so I won't step a foot on that one anymore! Well, that's it for now. Catch you all later, okay?

Thanks Jackie! GoWear Fit is similar to the Bodybugg. It goes around your upper arm and has tons of sensors that measure different fluctuations in your body such as temperature, electrical charges in sweat, etc. It gives an accurate count of how many calories you burn during the day, both during exercise and during normal day to day activities. It also gives a sleep assessment if you wear it at night. You upload the data to your computer and it gives graphs telling you minute by minute calorie burn and also shows how often you wake up during the night and tells you your sleep efficiency. It also has a built in pedometer. Here is the website: GoWear Fit (http://www.gowearfit.com)

Hi Everyone!

Just a short post here today. Was doing real well on plan yesterday until I went to the Tailgate Party and scarfed down a Super-Sized Choc Chip Cookie!
I didn't even realize what I did until about an hour later. I guess I haven't broke that old habit yet! :( I'm doing real well staying OP today. Cheerio's: I tried that Wish Bone Ranch Salad Spritzer today on my salad. Not too bad!
Well, I'd better shove off of here and get ready for the Birthday Party. Have a great weekend everyone, stay OP and get in some exercise! :)

Glad you like the spritzer it's really a healthier alternative to regular ranch =) No biggie about one cookie just get your exercise in and avoid the big cookie next time

Idealmuse did you lose all that weight naturally with pure driven motivation? Did the bodybugg play a big role in helping you lose weight? If so I really want one but it's so expensive and I will just have to save my money up for it.

Idealmuse did you lose all that weight naturally with pure driven motivation? Did the bodybugg play a big role in helping you lose weight? If so I really want one but it's so expensive and I will just have to save my money up for it.

I only started using the bodybugg about 4 months ago with any regularity. I actually was down to 186 last summer, which yeah was all natural. I lost that in 15 months I think. No surgery or wacky shakes or pills or anything... just exercise, watching the calories and time.

(I gained all the way upto 240 this winter/spring by slacking off = big mistake I don't plan on repeating)

The reason I like my bodybugg (which has helped me lose 40lbs so far) is it encourages me to be active throughout the day and not just exercise once and boom you're done. You can see visually on a graph where you're expending energy throughout the day.

However if you can't afford one really you can do something similar on your own. Before I used a bodybugg I used an online food journal to record my food. Basically you want to aim for a deficit. 500/day for 1lb/week and 1000/day for 2lbs. You're numbers might be a little off because you're doing some guess work, but for the most part you'll get similar results if you're honest with yourself.

As an example: For me I burn about 1700 if I sit around all day. If I ate 1500 calories that means I'd need an extra 800 calories burned throughout my day. 1700 - 1500 = 200 + 800 = 1000. 800 SOUNDS like a lot but remember all daily activity counts. You'd be surprised how it adds up if you just get up off the couch. :)

Bodybugg just takes all the brain work out. It tells you what you've burned including your BMR and you tell it what you ate. It then estimates how much you'll lose that week. It's not always spot on, but it's honestly pretty close for me. It also tells you how many steps you took like a pedometer.

They do charge for membership but after the free one that comes with the BB expires if you buy the yearly it's less then 7/mo. Think about how much people spend on weight watchers or frozen meals.... 7/mo is cheap compared to all that crap.

Sorry If I'm rambling on there. Hehe. I'm happy to answer any questions you have.

I think I'm down 2lbs already. Scale said 200 this morning. Back to the 100's soon! WOOT!

cheerios
09-26-2009, 07:30 PM
WooOOOT! Congrats you will soon be out of the 200's!! and you did this all naturally I'm so proud of you! And for the bodybugg since I can't afford it atm I'll try sticking to a food journal but the things I hate about food journal is calculating the calories in a certain food I eat because when I cook my own food there is a lot of ingredients involved in one dish and it's hard to keep count of how many calories is in a certain amount of ingredient that I am using for that dish or maybe I'm just to lazy to count calories because I have counted calories before for like 3 days then stopped cause I got tired of writing down how much calories was in every thing! Do you think I will do fine on just eating healthy and eating decent amount of food everyday and incorporating exercise every other day for at least an hour each time I work out? Cause I'm pretty much doing that except for the exercising part I been to lazy to get in my exercise, but I do know calories in need to be used up so I don't gain weight so I been doing some Wii games to get some exercise in and going to the gym like two times a week. And I don't know how am I doing if I am losing weight or not because I refuse to check the scale till October 31st!

Hi, I just joined the forum today, and I am definitely up for a challenge, if it's not too late for me to join!?!

As of this morning, I am 215. I have been gaining and losing the same 30 pounds or so for the last several years. I really, really want to get going and STAY going this time!

I'm 37, married, and I have 2 daughters, age 6 and 4. I work full-time, and have a nightmare commute to downtown Atlanta from the northern suburbs.

My strategy is going to be counting calories...I maintain a spreadsheet of all the items I ever eat on a diet. It includes the product, cals, fat, fiber, protein and carbs. Then i have a separate sheet in the spreadsheet where I maintain a daily food log. That way, I just cut and paste each item from my "menu" sheet into my "log" sheet. The 2 sheets are in the same file...just side by side, and then the spreadsheet does all of the math for me. It's pretty easy...and I've got it down to a science. (now if I could just control what I actually eat!!!)

I'm also going to start walking, and tracking that on my spreadsheet. I borrowed one of those GPS watches from a friend of mine, and it tracks the exact distance you walk...so I can map out some routes in my neighborhood. This is really tough for me, though. Between working, commuting, and the kids, I have a hard time finding time to go out walking. But I will try!!

I hope it's not too late for me to join this challenge with you!! (especially now that I've written you a small book;))

I also wish you the best of luck on your weight loss journey and hopefully you will also have fun will doing it =) And if you are really having trouble getting exercise in just have your kids go to the park with you and you guys can play football, volleyball, fly kites, and many other things. So that will give you some quality time with your kids and at the same time you will be burning up your calories! Remember Don't Give Up!!! If you need some one to talk to you can just always post here or send me a private message and I usually reply back quickly. I hope to hear from you soon!

So far I am having a good day - got 4 points left, but my "witching" hours are coming up- when I am tired and the will power is weak.
Gotta go finish loading the dishes. Have a great nite all!

I am a 20 year old stay at home mom with my 4 year old son. Also a nanny! I was chunky all of my life until I got into middle school and was tired of being overweight I wanted to be like the "skinny girls" So my mom and I had a challenge, who ever lost 20lbs first won $20. I won! I kept it off until high school when I slowly started gaining back. Then I got pregnant at 16, and used pregnancy as an excuse to eat whatever i wanted, whenever I wanted. Thinking I would loose it after giving birth. WRONG!! I gained 70lbs while being pregnant. (My mom also gained 60-70 while being pregnant with all 7 of us kids, BUT lost all of it after giving birth!) But mine stayed with me. After I had my son I stayed at 197 for a year, than I went up to 220. I would try, loose weight, than give up. I've done it several times but never stuck with it! And I'm teling myself NOW is the time. Time is going by, I'm getting older...I want to go to the get togethers or the friends wedding etc wearing that cute dress or outfit like everyone else:( Ive been stuck in mens T-shirts and cotton pants for 4 years and I want to dress like a GIRL!
I want to loose weight for my health, appearance, and other reasons.

So I will join this challenge and thank you!!

YUmmm :yay:all your guys favorite candy sound so good to me!!! luvmy3 favorite is frozen snickers and right now that sounds really good to me! Do you just buy the snickers and place them in the freezer or are you talking about frozen snickers ice-cream? Cause I know I have placed kit-kat candy bars in the freezer and took them out to eat they were so good when they were ice cold, but I never placed snickers in the freezer =) Helpmelose my downfall are doughnuts too! The other day my sister brought some home and I managed to avoid them maybe because they had blueberries in them lol anyways I would like to welcome Mateosmama2005 to our challenge!!! I'm also glad that you have accepted my challenge and are ready to make a change! Change doesn't always come easy, but with the help of others it makes it just a little bit easier because we have support and encouragement from one another =) So everyone let's get off our butts tomorrow and try to get at least 30 minutes of exercising in whether it's walking your dog, going to the gym, cleaning the house, gardening or anything at all as long as your moving! Let's try to do our best before Halloween rolls around! When you have gotten your exercise in come back and tell us what you did :comp: Have fun guys and good luck and most importantly Don't Give Up! If you mess up one day just start again the next day as if it's a brand new day :D

I'm in! I was aiming for 9 -10 lbs by halloween, but I think I'm just going to go for it.
This will be perfect for me, as I am going to Australia in Feb (hottest time of the year! :( ) for my sister's wedding, and I really need another kickstart, I've been stalling for months. Hopefully I'll be on the beach not worrying about looking like a beached whale.

ALSO, I'll be attending my first ever halloween party and it will be fun to dress up and look good.

exciting!

Oh and my starting weight is 178.3

Cheerios, just put the Snickers in the freezer. They are sooooo good. The ice cream is okay but I prefer the candy bar frozen.Just don't leave it in too long or you'll break a tooth!!!

Hopefully today I can get moving some.I've had a cold and it makes breathing hard.My little ones sick to so he wants to be held constantly. But any exercise I can get will be good.I'm trying to count calories.I'm sick of trying every diet out there only to fail.I just need to figure what is the right amount of calories for me.Good luck to everyone today!!

I know that I am a little late to the party, but can I join?

I am 225 pounds now.

About me...

Lets see, I am a sahm to 6 great children. They are 7, 5, 4, 4, 2, and 7 months. I am still nursing, so I struggle with the desire to quickly lose the weight (not good, I know), and keep my baby healthy. Luckily keeping E healthy wins, but I am ready to make some changes.

I was not always heavy, in fact in my early 20's I suffered from anorexia. I was down to 98 pounds (and still sure I was fat), before getting that under control. I started putting on weight as a side effect of some medication a few years later, and then added tons more during pregnancy. I really want to lose healthy, but not be consumed by the scale, kwim? This is the first time I have owned a scale in 10 years (getting rid of it was part of the treatment for my anorexia).

Gosh, this was a little more in depth than I am sure you were looking for.:D

I also had to give in and weigh myself today because I was so nervous that I did a lot of damage on vacation. Surprise Surprise, even with the junk I ate, I lost 2 lbs! I think my exercise will be long walks. I did a lot of it in Vegas and I know it helped!

I am at 209.5 and my goal is to be at Onederland by Thanksgiving. Halloween is a mid-way point between now and then, and I'll say that I want to be at 204 by Halloween. I've recently broken through a plateau and have been keeping a food diary which has really helped me a lot. I was away for a month in the summer and then moved in August which stalled me a bit, but being back in a regular routine and cool fall weather which is perfect for outdoor exercise are elements which I hope will facilitate me making both my halloween mini-goal and my Thanksgiving goal. I'm currently being motivated by the recent discovery of my collarbones (who knew?), a trip to Boston scheduled for Thanksgiving (to have lost 11 pounds since they saw me in July), and the little rewards I give myself like a trip to thrift store or a few new songs on my ipod. Gotta run - more later! Have a great day, all!

Ah! Yesterday we had dinner at my sister's boyfriend new house and of course I helped with the cooking so I ate some and picked at the dishes before they were serve *guilty* Then when it was time for all of us to eat together I ate a lot and most of the dishes were meat except the fish and a soup with veggies in it! I pigged out and ate a lot and just ate some chex mix!:( I hate it when I eat a lot of unhealthy food and in my head I know the food that I am eating is not good for my health and yet I still eat it and don't stop my self from eating it! Why do I do that? Is it because I have no control or I just had to have it!? I just hate it when I do that because I want to lose and not gain weight. Anyone ever ate something and felt guilty afterwards? I know I have...plenty of times! I'm just glad I didn't go out on a binge and ate every thing in my path and ate till I was so full that it would be hard for me to move.:dizzy: Hope everyone is doing well and are eating well

Cheerios-I have always felt guilty whenever I slipped too. Thats good though because it means that you know what you want and that you didn't make the right decision. If anything I think those guilty feelings helped me to stick to my points because I didn't like feeling horrible about my choices. It has been months since I have cheated now!

My computer is up and running again, yey! :cp: I missed all of you, including the new ones that have joined us for our challenge. It's hard to believe that we're already more than a week into October. Only 3 weeks to go 'til the Halloween Challenge is revealed. I agree with Cheerio's about only weighing once during the challenge if you're afraid of what the results will be on the scale. I ended up weighing myself more than once in a weeks time. I got on the scale again after my 8# loss and noticed that I was down 10#! I then got on this morning and was disappointed that I gained a few pounds back. I know this could be water weight that I'm playing with, so I won't let it bother me too bad. I'm definitely happy with an 8# loss! I will try and stay off the scale 'til our challenge date weigh-in, set for Halloween on October 31st. :witch: Well, I'm gonna fly off of here right now. I will catch you all later, okay?

:welcome3: LESSTHANZERO: No, by all means, it's not too late to join us! Some of us have fell off the wagon anyways along this first Journey. I lost 10# in less than 3 weeks, but unfortunately...I've been playing with 3 of the 10# in the last week. All I can say to that is: "Keep Myself Accountable". I ate some food with MSG in it, so I'm sure a lot of this could be water weight. If this is the case, the 3# should come off in a few days. Now, getting back to you: I'm glad that you are joining us for our first challenge. Now that in most parts of our Country, it's getting pretty cold outside, the prize scarf is looking even better! :) If you scroll to the first page of these posts, you will find out a little bit more about a few of us here on this thread.
As you said, you don't know where to start? Coming here is definitely a good choice. I've been a 3FC's member since 1999 and there is always a group that is here to support us! Back eight years ago, 3FC's helped me to lose over 60#.
Unfortunately, I gained it all back and then some. The reason behind this weight gain? I didn't keep myself accountable! I am going to be faithful this time around. If I don't,I hope that someone sends me a PM, so that it can flag my email account and get me back here again. So...If I disappear for awhile, PM me, okay? :comp:

I think I will sprinkle some more Willpower Dust here at the thread-I think we all could use some right now. :dust: There, did that help any? Have a Great Day and Stay On Plan!

I'm not sure if you all heard about Valerie Bertinelli's new book that's out, it's called "Finding It". It's about the struggles in her life and weight loss issues. She was on Good Morning America talking about it. You can watch this interview by going under google search-Just put in: Good Morning America October 14, 2009 Valerie Bertinelli and it should come up. I'm really going through some weight loss struggles this week, so I'm going to look for a copy of this book and read it. Freckles thanks so much for the info.I'm always looking for something new to read and reading about the struggles of weighloss would be great right about now.
So how has everyone been doing?Ready for our weigh in?Only 16 days left.I thought I was doing well and in control up until last night.I did some mindless eating in the middle of the night.I hadn't done that in awhile but my DH was at work kids asleep and the cheesecake was calling my name. One difference was that instead of eating the whole cake I ate 2 forkfulls,so I feel good that I knew to stop.I'm trying not to weigh myself until the 31st.Hopefully by then I should see a good number.

Well I hope everyone is doing well and getting ready to win a beautiful scarf.I know with the weather turning cold so fast we could use it.

Luvmy3: You definitely are not alone when you have us! It looks as though the majority of us are in the same boat right now.
As the song goes: "Hold On, For Just One More Day and Things Will Go Your Way." Well, we might have to hold on for more than one day, but we'll get there. If you get a craving, go brush your teeth if you have a chance. Sometimes hunger pangs are due to being dehydrated, so go drink a nice big glass of water then. Cheerio's: You are so lucky that your elliptical machine only goes forward. It's a real challenge when you have to keep on changing direction. The one I used to use at the "Y", worked both the front and back muscles of your legs, which was a bonus I guess. (It depends on which way you look at it though.) My advice for you girl... If you have the time, go and burn some extra calories! To Everyone: Here's some more Will Power Dust-I think we could use some of this, don't ya think? :dust: So, did it work? Okay only 2 more days!!Is everyone ready?I sure am not!!I really thought I would have done better but I really have been having a tough time. But over the last month I learned alot about myself and my eating. So even if I don't win a scarf I have won control of my life back.(Although I'm still hoping for a scarf LOL).Hopefully we can start another challenge after this one.I think having small goals is a great motivation and having you all here to support me has been really great.I have support here at home but unless you've been there like us it's hard to really understand. So although I do appreciate the support from friends and family they have no clue where I'm coming from.I really wish I could find someone in my area who is having the same problems.Maybe get some walking in together.Well anyway good luck to all of you!!We're all winners in my book!!

Hello, Everyone!

Wow! Only two days 'til our first challenge ends? For almost a week, I was doing really well with my diet & exercise. I was getting a minimum of 30 min of walking in per day. I also was eating low-cal, low-fat and NO SWEETS! Then, I came down with some kind of bug. I don't think it's the swine flu, thank goodness! I had a flu shot, so who knows what I got. I ache all over, including my head & tummy. I have "TOM" on top of this crap too! I've also been running to the bathroom a lot. No picnic here! Thank goodness I have no appetite, 'cause I sure in the heck don't feel like burning any calories right now.
Cheerio's: Which GYM are you a member at? Any common chain, or just a local one? Have that scarf packed up for someone yet? Who knows, maybe you will be the winner and it can stay put! :) Luvmy3: I hear ya in reference to getting in control of your life. Since September 23rd, the light bulb moment really kicked in and I really think I'm in control of myself this time. After this weekend, I'm up for another challenge. I'm on a roll and really want to get rid of this excess weight. Not just for looks, but for health reasons also. So, perhaps we could go with either a Thanksgiving Day challenge, or extend it longer, perhaps 'til Christmas? Let's all think about this and get back to one another, okay? I'm glad that we're all sticking together in this journey, as it's much easier with a Buddy! Well, my tummy is really burning right now, so I'm going to go lay on the couch for awhile. Bye!

Well, it looks as though I'm the first one to reveal my results of the challenge.
I'm down at least 10#. I was down to a 12# loss a few days ago, but hopped on the scale this am and was showing a 10# loss. I've been sick and not eating too much the last few days and of course not burning much calories either! I've been a couch potato for the most part the last few days. The good news: I've noticed that my clothes are starting to fit better. My face is starting to thin out, thank goodness! My bras are more comfortable to wear, woo hoo! ;) My pants are getting more baggy, which makes them drop down further causing the length of my pants to be at a perfect inseam! I tried on a pair of pants that used to be too small to zip up and can now comfortably zip them up! Another 5# they should be a perfect fit! :) I'm ready for the next challenge! How about the rest of you?

crzymom6: Congratulations on the big loss! That is so awesome! I will have to read your blog to find out more on how you are doing it. I created a blog, but for some dumb reason the post didn't take. I spent over an hour creating it, but it came up blank! Oh well, I will try another time. I'm also going to try and figure out how to post one of those graph's to show how much I've lost. Wish me luck!

crzymom6 WOW! Awesome!!

I only had 10 as well, but hey I'm not complaining. Nearly in the 180s is OK by me! I'm not doing anything for Halloween tonight just answering the door. I have to be in bed early as I have a 15k run tomorrow. My first "run" only race! Woot!

Congrats on the loss everyone no matter the number big or small it's good to have weight gone.

:haphal: Sorry I didn't wish you all this in the morning, but was still pretty much asleep when I posted. Luvmy3: :cheer: Congratulations on your BIG loss, you go girl! As I mentioned before-I was down 12#, but I will take the 10# loss too! I can start on my next decade of numbers! ;) If we do a Thanksgiving Day Challenge, my goal is at least another 10#. I will check with Cheerio's and the rest and see what we come up with for our next ending date challenge. Let's start our new challenge right now, so we don't fall off the wagon, okay? We can ALWAYS figure out when the ending date is. Idealmuse: Congrats on the 10# loss, doesn't it feel awesome? Good luck on your 15K run tomorrow! I'll be cheering you on from here in Wisconsin! :cheer3: Just think on how much easier it will be tomorrow with 10# less to carry in the race! :) I just got my first Trick or Treat kids at my door a few minutes ago. They were so adorable!
The boys were dressed like Biker Dude's and the girls were a Witch & the other was a Motor Cross Rider, helmet and all! They were my Niece's kids, so I hope she puts up Pics on Facebook for me. IHeartMe: Congratulations on the 11# loss! :bravo: Be proud of the 11# loss, I know I am! Go in your pantry/cupboard and pull out 2-5# bags of flour/sugar/coffee, etc... feel how heavy it seems? Just think-you were carrying that extra 10#, plus another 1# on your body! Keep thinking positive and another 11# will be off in the near future. LET'S NOT GIVE UP, OKAY? IT'S NOT AN OPTION! WE CAN DO IT!:grouphug: Let's stay away from that Halloween candy, okay? Well, time for me to do some cleaning around the house. Have a great weekend everyone!
