Ok, is this real? I weighed today at the doctor's offie and in roughly 5 days I LOST 14 pounds! I have lost a large amount of weight the first week of many diets before but never like THIS!

BACKGROUND(if you want to read): I too have been reading up through the book and this Board and a few others. They are really valuable and extremely useful. I am a 32 yr old female and I have 200 pounds to lose and this is the first time in my life I have ever even tried to watch carbs/sugars. TRUST ME I
have watched everything else in the world, calories, fat, points, and every diet you can imagine.

I was diagnosed with PCOS 8 yrs ago which has caused a slight insulin resistance, weight gain, and infertility (although been heavier than most--- most of my life). Then, there was no where near the research done with the insulin/carb connection. I recently revisted my reproductive endocrinologist after my sister was treated the exact same way on a study for PCOS treatment/infertility, which at the time included doing the Atkins diet and taking Metformin. She has been after me for almost 2 yrs (since she, by the way, lost almost 40 pounds and got pregnant during her 4th month of this WOE and Metformin) to go back to him and I finally did. I think I owe her a debt of gratitude for staying on me. This WOE was rec to me by that Dr. and I have
been reading like crazy since then (about 2 weks ago or so) and think this WOE makes so much sense with the connection between insulin, weight, and hormones too. Especially when nobody could figure out why in the world I kept gaining
weight when I DID NOT eat that much volume of food. In 2 weeks I also start taking metformin to control symptoms related to PCOS. He said the meds would increase the effects of this WOE, which is definitely a good thing.

Other than actually the physical weight on my body, I am pretty healthy. I am feeling great and not hungry at all, definitely not deprived of food. I need to exercise more for sure. I hope this WOE proves to be my downfall, in weight that is!!!! I know it won't go that fast for long, but I don't care just as long as it

CONGRATULATIONS! You seem to be doing very well thus far. Yes, that's a considerable amount of weight to lose in such a short period of time but you also have to remember that the more you have to lose the more you'll lose at the beginning. As long as you are eating right take whatever weight you lose and runnnnnn with it all the while doing a happy dance! You may have just found the key to what will help you lose the weight, and for good this time. I tried many ways my entire life to lose the weight and this is what worked for me. There's no one diet out there for everyone, unfortunately, but for many this has been a miracle.

We hope you will join us on the regular weekly board. We'd be happy to have you join us at any time. Don't be afraid to ask questions, this is all part of a learning experience.

I know I can speak for the whole group in saying we wish you the best of luck on this new WOE!!!:D
