Red face Hi everyone. Need help with sticking with this...

Hey everyone.

So I have decided to do it I really want to lose 40 pounds at the moment. I have always had a really tough time losing weight since my energy levels seem to fluctuate from day to day. I have never been much of an eater. Had a terrible diet when I was younger(Never really drank water, ate one meal a day, gulped down soda, etc.etc.) But I have a goal to get healthy now and I really want to see it actually happen. I am not sure on how to go about it I have been trying to consume one 1000 cals a day, read that helps somewhere, not sure if that is healthy... Trying my hardest to stay away from sugar, did really poorly this week, that's gow I found this place searched on how to recover from a bad diet day. LOL

Currently I weight 161 and am 5'2" and my goal is to weigh 120, think that is appropriate for me body, but I have never managed to get past 155, so really need some help if you can.

Hey Anothermatter -

1000 calories a day is pretty low, actually, and eating too few calories might explain your energy levels - basically, you need food to fuel you through your day! I wonder if you could give us a sample day of your plan?

I might try to up my calories by 100 or so a week until I got to 1400-1500, were I you, and see if that leveled out my energy and kept me more satisfied...try to eat whole foods (lean protein, fruits, veggies, grains, reduced fat dairy, etc) as much as possible and see where that took me.

Exercise may also help to moderate your energy levels - are you doing any now?

Hope that helps! Give us more info and we'll give you more!

Congratulations on what you've lost already.

120 is good for your (OUR ) height - but last time I looked pretty damn good at 136, so be prepared to happy with a higher weight.

1000 calories long term is too low. Your body will think it's being starved, and actually hang on to every ounce it can in order to protect itself. I was stalling at 1200 but began losing again at 1600. I'm currently about 1400-1500 and still losing. You might want to put your details into sparkpeople.com (there are others, I just like this one) and see what budget it gives you. You put in your height, your weight, your goal weight and a goal date. While it doesn't do to get fixated on a date, you need to put this in to get the calculation to work. Basically, if you aim for too quick a weightloss, it just won't do it. What pleased me about that site was that it gave me a MINIMUM number of calories to eat, it was a great revelation!

Hi and welcome to 3FC.

I agree with the others, 1000 is really too low. Take their advice, they are smart ladies

Good luck with your goals.

Hugs
