Good morning, It looks like I am the first one here so I am starting a thread. I am happy to!
I just wish you all much success in this week.

Thanks for the encouragement Ladies! I have lost all the off plan/binge weight from last week plus a half pound. Yay! I am back on track and have some tools to cope with stress in a better way than gorging on crappy food.
I have been on my weight loss journey for exactly one month today and I have lost 21 pounds! I know that sounds like a lot but I have over 50 more to lose and I was drinking diet soda constantly so I think a lot of the weight was water. I feel so much better and when I get to 26 pounds lost that will be 1/3 of my goal and I will take pictures of my progress.

Just a quick hello to let you all know I'm doing much better. My left knee and forearm are still hurting but other than that I'm healing nicely.
It's warm (upper 90's) so we're headed out to the pool for a couple hours.

Hi everyone,
Today's my DS's 23rd b-day. So far cake batter and frosting have ended up in my mouth. Oh why did he have to pick MY b-day cake for his this time??? I love Red Velvet Cake. It is going home with him though. I can still make my calorie goal if I really, really good for dinner. Since I missed by 221 cals yesterday, I really need to be better today. So far I'm thinking my no weighing daily is a miserable failure. Not to make excuses but yesterday was day of TOM arriving that night - I always want cookies... and today is b-day. If tomorrow is this much of a struggle, I'm back to weighing everyday. I'm hoping it won't be.
Cruise, I'm glad you're feeling better! Enjoy the pool. I let mine close for the season as I wasn't using it enough even though it's been plenty warm.
Hydra!!! Congrats on the 21 pound loss. That's awesome and you are rockin'!
Penguin, my guess is knitters have so much extra yarn that the baby hospital donations is on the rise because knitters don't want to throw a skein away. I admit it's been hard not to weigh but I'm guessing after my struggle weekend, ignoring my scale tomorrow will be simple.
DMC, great job on the hike. I bet you had fun.
I think if a person runs for president on the platform of a four day work week I'm voting for her/him and volunteering for the campaign. I hate that weekend is almost over. :(

DMC2009 I hope you had a great hike!
Hydra WOW, 21 pounds!! That is incredible!! Keep up the good work! But don't get discouraged if you start seeing your loss rate slow; I've heard that that happens to people as they start having less to lose.
CruiseCAT I'm glad you're starting to feel like yourself again... It was in the 80s here today, which seemed unseasonably warm. Low 70s is more like it.
Marie Sorry that the weekend is coming to an end... At least it probably also connotes less opportunities to eat off plan, which is good. At least it does, for me.
I've lost 25 pounds as of this morning, which I can't quite fathom. I can barely lift or move around something that weighs 25 pounds, and here I've lost that much? We went to the movies this afternoon and I opted against getting any candy, although I could have easily justified it. But I remembered that when I took the boys to a baseball game and got caramel popcorn because I could easily justify it, and it became a slippery slope of needing sweet after sweet. So, drawing on that experience, I just paid for my kids' candy and got nothing from me. :) Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs was fun, but I thought UP! was much better, and my DH (who did not see UP!) thought that Ratatouille was much better. The boys loved it, though, so that was what it was really about.
AND, we went to REI afterwards and I splurged on a Marmot skin-tight windbreaker jacket. It was on sale, and definitely the kind of thing that only a thin person could pull off. I love it!

Hi everyone! We've been out of town visiting MIL since Friday. No internet. Looks like everyone has been doing well. Walked yesterday and this Am before heading back home. Managed to make some fairly good choices despite many temptations. My MIL is a terrific cook. Count me in as one to vote for the 4 day work week. The weekends are always too short for me during the school year. Hope everyone has a great week!
Cruise, you asked about estimates for our bathroom. We had 2 estimates. The guy we went with was referred by a friend who also had a bathroom done. His labor cost was very reasonable and we had seen the work he did at our friend's house. He did our main bath in the spring and then we had him do the master. I'll post some pics later.

Hi, All! Mind if I join you? I've been lurking for a bit, and have to say I'm really inspired. Even setbacks like physical falls, emotional upheavals, and just plain falling-off-the-wagon don't stop you ladies!
Lost most weight recently through stress of putting Mom in nursing home. Now trying to do it right. Hiked this morning, myself. Short, but definitely a lot of uphill. Luckily, had the dog to help pull me up!

Well, I think I blew it this weekend.
Bought soem itty bitty cupcakes which started it. Oh... and a bottle of wine.
That's it. NO SUGAR and that means NO WINE. I do my best when I eliminate those completely, because they both have an effect on me and I weaken my resolve.
I am going to work extra hard this week to make up for it. I have my sugar free candies and no more wine! LOL
Marie, I love 4 day work weeks.
OMY, nice to see you.
Girl&Dog, nice to meet you.
Last night the munchies got me and that is why I am feeling so poorly today!

Girl & Dog - Welcome to the group. We really do have a GREAT bunch of ladies here. Ten pounds is an excellent start. Not the ideal way to drop weight but now you have that little boast that so many want/need. Where did you hike; did you take any pictures?
Marie - I love the idea of a four day work week. Mack works 9/80's so we do have it every other weekend.
DMC - Are you back on track? You can do it..... just say no!!! My weakness is having a couple beers out by the pool; yesterday it triggered a call to Pizza Hut. I'm up a few today but I know it will come off before the end of the week.
Heidi - 25 lbs. is a big deal!!! You are doing GREAT!!! WTG on drawing strength from your previous experience with the candy.
I'm thinking I'll be able to clean house today but unfortunately it will be a few more days before I can get back to my regular workouts.

Girl - Welcome!
My turn to do the "drive by" - it's going to be a very fast-paced week for me. DH will be working hard overtime for the next two weeks, and I will be conducting SPC training for all 4 of our shifts. And of course DS10 still needs to get to swimming, choir and piano and a doctor's appt (does he sound overscheduled???), we're going canoeing/camping this weekend, the lawn needs mowing ... GAH!!!! Oh well. I'll be too busy to be off plan by much. :)

Newleaf, CONGRATULATIONS on the 25 pounds :carrot:and the excellent choice at the theater. When I think of the major amount of weight lost by the 40s chickies I always think of our aging joints and how the heck they carried all that weight. I bet your knees are loving you. Congrats on your splurge at REI. How fun!
OMW, you did great this weekend. Staying with a with a great cook is like taking aim at our will power. You did great.
Girl and Dog, please tell the resident Husky Dog lover about your dog. You have a few of us dog lovers in your company here. So do tell more. I’m very sorry about the difficult decisions you’ve had to make. And welcome to our fun, great group. I love it here.
DMC, sounds like you figured your triggers and that they can’t be around in any form. Good luck with it. You can do this.
Cruise, my DH do the 9 days, 80 hours too. I am so jealous since I work 9 hours/day quite often although much from home. I wish I could work from home. I’d be more productive and when I do I am obsessive not to slack in anyway. I’m glad you’re feeling a bit better.
ICU, at least through the hectic week you have a fun weekend planned to aim for.
The Red Velvet cake has been removed from the house. Oh it was so good but I had this tiny slice that my son rolled his eyes. He took 1/8 of the entire cake. Mine was 1/24. I only had 3 pieces of fondue steak (3 oz) and filled up on green beans. So my calorie day was salvaged. I swear routine is easy for losing weight – it’s the bumps that are more difficult. My family (like most) celebrate with food. I wish I could think of a better choice. At least no one in my family poo-poos my choices. DS rolled his eyes, but I know he’s proud as his mom isn’t fat anymore. He’s a fitness buff so all is good.

Knock knock--can I come in?
I'm new here--just joined the group (and WW!) this weekend. This sounds like a great group.
I am 47 and a single mom. My youngest one just went off to college last month.so, for the first time in my life, I'm living alone and figuring out how to like my own company. I seem to have loads of free time, so now I can really concentrate on getting healthy.
I'm hoping to connect with new people and find motivation and support along the way.

Hi, Y'all, and thanks for the Welcomes!
DMC-- Oh no! Not the itty bitty cupcakes! The ones that are so cute and such small indulgences, really, that just one won't throw you off too much. Really quite delicious, and didn't there used to be a dozen here? What happened to those other eight? And my, oh my, now I just need a little something to wash them down.... ;^) I understand completely--once you get the sweet taste in your mouth, there's just no stopping. Great willpower on going cold turkey--you can do it!
Cruise-- Glad you're feeling better. Remember to take it easy getting back to your regular workouts; some folks here at work have re-injured themselves (mostly from running injuries) by not taking time to heal properly.
ICU-- Wow. Forget going off plan, do you even have time to eat? I bow to your time management skills. Good luck with your week!
Marie--I agree with you and Heidi that routine is easier than surprises. It's those shoot-I-forgot-to-pack-a-lunch-and-now-I'm-starving times that get me. I know your son is very proud of you!
Penguin-- Adorable crocheting. Did all those really only take you a few days? I love the bright, happy colors!
I'm a little off today, and am making up for it by preparing a healthy lunch and snacks for tommorrow. Just need to take it day by day....

WLW, I love feeling those spaghetti legs, let's me know I've really worked hard. Way to go!
DMC, Old habits are hard to break. Knowing what you need to do is the first step. Take things one day or one meal at a time!
Patch, those outfits are darling! Hard to believe it doesn't take that long for you to complete them! I made a crchoeted afghan once, It took me about 5 years to finish!
Marie, Red velvet cake, you have amazing will power!
ICU, DD just started year round swimming, practice 3 times a week plus volleyball, soccer and PSR. Add homework and an occasional shower into the mix, I know what you mean!

Girl&Dog great job just jumping right in -- I love it! And, perfect description on the cupcakes. Sweets (not in cupcake form, though -- think skittles, jelly beans, etc) just make me want more sweets. In fact, we went out for ice cream the other night in 2 separate cars. And on my way home I started wondering if I would have enough time to stop at the store for a bag of candy because I needed more sweets, and still make it home before DH and the kids. Ack! I reigned that one in, though, and just drove straight home. But one sweet definitely leads to another for me, if not physically, at least mentally. I hope all your preparation pays off for you today.
Down another pound today. Exercise = weight loss exercise = weight loss exercise = weightloss I need to always keep reminding myself of this... When I make the time to exercise, everything else falls into place.

Penguin, wow the outfits are so beautiful. You are VERY talented!!! Thanks for sharing.
DMC, good luck without the sugar and wine.
WLW, great job on increasing your workout. After over 6 months of ellipticalling, mine still kicks my butt. I probably can go for a long time with little resistance, but I have this thing about increasing the resistance regularly and the speed. My legs always feel like spaghetti afterwards. And my heart rate typically stays between 140 -150. It’s the best workout equipment I’ve ever used. I love it as it hurts not one joint.
Vjack, welcome. Wow you sure are having a lot of changes in a month. Congrats on the healthy changes and the focusing on your health.
Newleaf, I’m totally on board with you. I can not pre-plan meals. I have eating desires (not quite cravings). I make my meals based on what I feel like eating. YEAH on another pound leaving your body. :carrot::carrot: WTG!!! You are so close to your goal.
Girl and Dog, isn’t it amazing how a little treat can snowball out of control??? Good job on packing a healthy lunch and snack.
OMW, I totally agree about the spaghetti legs. I like feeling the fatigue because then I know I didn’t just plug my way through the workout. I have a sign that says “Exercise Like You Mean It” to remind me not to be a slug.
Hydra, how nice of you to look for something special for your dad. I bet you can google search it and find a great treat.

Afternoon all! I had an eye appointment today that went well. Since he's a specialist we wait around for two hours then spend less than five min with him while he checks my eyes, but everything is fine!
The sun is shining brightly today! Finally! its still humid, it was 94% this morning but has dropped down to 80%.
I plan on a workout later today, when everything is less blurry from the drops at the drs.
Cruise, No to Ebay. I've sold a few things here and there but its not something I want to turn into a business, I'd rather make them for hospitals. A lot of the patterns I get online are specifically for 'charity work' and say on the pattern copyright that we can't sell the finished work.
Newleaf. Good job on heading straight home and not stopping for more sweets. I've noticed that one sweet just leads to another, if I keep that in mind sometines I will reach for something else. Sometimes!
OMW, One of the things I like about the baby things is that they go very quickly. I made a pair of full sized booties while at the doctors today and almost finished the matching hat! What is PSR?
Girl and Dog, did I miss a post that said what kind of dog you have? I made the Going Home outfit while watching "Dances with Wolves" on TV the other day. I have a lot of free time at home and I tend to get obsessed with whatever hobby I'm currently enjoying. I'm trying not to do all pastels, so I bought some bright colors. One woman said yellow is a very bad color for preemies because they are usually jaundiced and the yellow clothes make them look worse. I'm a brunette with a fair amount of yellow in my skin and I look pretty sick in yellow shirts too!
Welcome, Vjack!, Glad to have you join us. This is a good place for motivation, and company!

Hi all! Glad to hear everyone is having a pretty good day.
You are all so inspiring..and I am so impressed with all the excerise talk:
OMW and Marie-I can't believe you love that rubbery leg feeling! I don't even like the feeling of sweating---got to conquer that issue so I can really get moving and feel good about it. Guess I should do something instead of just talking about it!
I'm still getting into the swing of things;today's only my third day on WW .I did pretty good during the day we had a catered lunch at work and I had turkey wrap w/no dressing-about 1/4 c potato salad (couldn't resist that) and skipped the delicious desserts and had an apple instead. Tonight though, I am having a hard time not binging. Am thinking about the low fat Pringles and n my cupboard, but am afraid to open them tonight, cause I might eat too many.
Marie- whats the diff between an eating "desire" and a "craving"? Desire sounds so much better and so much more a matter of choice than a craving.
Can't believe it's only Tuesday--supposed to be hot (and muggy!) here in Maine tomorrow-yech!

Hi Valerie, to me a craving is I've gotta have, I gotta have and it won't leave my mind. A desire is yummy, Italian sounds good tonight. I have tastes for foods and I have cravings. I suppose you could go on the intensity of the want.
I thought of WLW today as I added more intensity to my arm workout as my legs still felt like spaghetti from yesterday's workout. Now I have spaghetti arms too. :)

vjack - good job at the work lunch. I often have to deal with work functions that have good too. Good job staying on track!
I did some walking on break at work today, about 1/4 of the callanetics program and I chased my granddaughter around for a few hours tonight. She started walking this past weekend and she sure is fast!
I am feeling better today, I had a couple days of being nauseous and just feeling like crap. Could have been a virus or maybe it's due to the increase of one of my meds I take. Tomorrow I have the day off and I am determined to do the complete one hour program of callanetics, even if I have to break it up or take rest breaks.

girl and dog: welcome!
patchworkpenguin: the preemie outfits are adorable! You do beautiful work!
vjack: welcome! I'm 47, too. I don't work outside the home so I have time to devote to healthy living as well. I've been using it to shop at farmer's markets, grow some of my own food, and cook nearly everything from scratch. Oh, and exercising at least a little every day.
Hydra: never tried diabetic cookies -- hope you find something that works. I did a search on one of my favorite cooking blogs and came up with these: http://www.101cookbooks.com/archives/nikkis-healthy-cookies-recipe.html. If you used dark chocolate, these would be sugar-free. And I like that there's no artificial sweetener.
Newleaf and Marie: I'm the opposite of you -- I've just discovered that I love planning all of my eating! I was really skeptical when I first tried it, but it eliminates dozens of decisions during the day and reduces my stress, plus eliminating emotional eating. It's so much fun to see how everyone approaches this journey differently!
CruiseCat: hope you're healing well.
We've got a busy week on tap, but I have the evening meals planned and I think we'll cope. Tonight's adventure is a Landscaping class that we're taking through the Missouri Botanical Garden. This is the third class, but all the others have met from 7 to 9. Tonight's class meets at 6 so we can have a private tour of the Garden before dark. We're really looking forward to it, but since we normally eat around 8, dinner is a challenge. I've got a pot of beans on the stove. DH will make that into refritos this afternoon. Then it will be a quick bit of work to make bean enchiladas for an early supper.

I reached my first fitness goal, finally...I ran my first 10K this weekend! My time was 1:04:42, which was better than what I thought I would do, since I usually run about an 11-min mile. Hydra, I hope you’re having a good day off and are feeling better.
Cruise and Heidi, I have that little voice poking at me as well. Ah, one day off plan won’t hurt. Ah one piece of b-day cake won’t hurt. Add all my devil voice suggestions up and that’s how I ended up fat in the first place. Heidi, great job driving right on home.
Penguin, I chuckled at your yellow comment. If someone doesn’t know if it’s a boy or girl, yellow is the color choice. And you’re right, it would look horrible on a jaundice baby. I will keep that in mind for future gifts.
Jasmine, WTG on completing the 10K. You did great and should be so proud of yourself.
Joy, that you’re opposite of Newleaf and my not liking to preplan foods, it just goes to show that this is a very individual journey. I look at those magazines that have a month’s worth of food menus and cringe. We’re all individuals and can’t be fit into a box. I’m glad the preplanning works for you. I’m betting it would be easier. I just couldn’t live with it long term and I’m in this for the rest of my life.
I’m back at work today. I was sick the last two days and really thought I was nearing 100%. As the day is wearing on, clearly I’m not. Oh well, I can be sick here as well as at home. I think I have a fever that has been coming and going. On and off my desk heater has been all morning. People come in my office and start stripping since they say “It’s so hot in here”. Oh well. Can you tell my sympathies aren’t really deep???

I'll be leading our little group i our Bible Study all by myself tomorrow morning. I've only done this once before but I'm not as nervous as I could be. There's only 10 'girls' in our group and it sounds like half of them won't be there tomorrow. My co-leader is going to be out of town, also. Lucky her.
Marie, I know what you mean about yellow. I pulled out an old knitting bag and found a half finished baby hat in YELLOW! So I finished it yesterday but chuckled the whole time. Its for a full size baby so hopefully it will be fine.
Jasmine, Whoo-hoo on your 10k!
DMC, What is your new class about?
OMW, How interesting. I didn't know they had a religion course in public schools. I went to Christian schools.
Hydra, I know this is the 40 somethings but from your pic I was surprised to hear you were old enough to have a granddaughter! Glad to hear you are feeling better.

Just got back from volunteering in my daughter's 4th grade class.
Eating has been pretty well OP, though took a day off on the weekend from logging food etc & while I didn't go overboard I think I overdid it- so I'll remember to keep track.

Marie - I'm with ya on the 4 day work week. My mgr has offered the option of 9 9's - that's pretty tempting. It's great that your family is on board with your food choices - and they SHOULD be proud of you!
Heidi - congrats on the jacket! I'm finding that the clothing purchases that I'm making are getting a little more form-fitting too.
Girl - welcome aboard, and hope everything mellows out for you going forward. :)
dmc - I empathize - there's something about the 2nd glass of wine that makes EVERYTHING look edible. I try very, very hard to stop at one glass.
patch - VERY cute outfits! What a thoughtful, creative hobby!
wlw - 4 miles will be back on your radar before you know it.
vjack - welcome aboard! I'm VERY jealous of your solitude this week!
OMW - what a schedule! Do you have a good division of driving labor for that, or carpools? I love my car, but sheesh - the miles!
joy - the class sounds fun! I can relate to dinner being a challenge - if we don't have it ready to go on Sunday night for the week, chaos (and bad choices) tends to get the upper hand.
jasmine - CONGRATS on the 10K! That's a fantastic time!
Marie (2nd note!) - Best wishes for a speedy recovery. We've been sent memos that make it very clear that (exaggerating somewhat) showing up sick to work will be grounds for lynching. Flu panic is beginning. (rolls eyes)
Mel - good to see you again! Aren't 4th graders a hoot? Heehee! Hey, I learned something this morning on my way in - that an Indian Summer can only be an Indian Summer if it follows the frost. Have you seen frost already up there? We've had just
a touch, not enough to kill bugs nor tomatoes.
This week is breaking me. I've spent the day in a seriously foul mood. If anybody's wondering about my avatar, here's the story of the Post Turtle - cribbed from a joke about Obama. Post Turtle: "You know she didn't get up there by herself, she doesn't belong up there, and she doesn't know what to do while she's up there, and you just kind of wonder what kind of dumb@$$ put her up there to begin with." Yeah, that's me at the moment.
The comfort is always in the long-term view. Am I gonna look back 5 years from now and even remember this week? Nah.
Back to maintaining at the moment. Just BREATHE, dang it! ;)

dmc - so good to see that scale go down!
gardenjoy - thanks so much for the cookie link, that site is great!
jasmine - Wow! a 10K! Impressive!
marie - so to hear that you are feeling under the weather too. I felt better yesterday and I hope you feel lots better today.
penguin - I hope the Bible study group goes smoothly for you. I am sure you will do fine.
icu - I hope your mood improves and you have a good day today.
I was off today and the main thing I did was to take time and rest. I am feeling better and I think I must have had some sort of virus for a couple of days. I will be on call this weekend, so I will be around the apartment a lot and I plan to work on one of my hobbies.....jewelry making is something I enjoy and have done for most of my life. I plan to make some earrings and perhaps a long necklace for work. I hope everyone had a good Thursday! Friday is almost here!!!

Hydra, Thanks for the encouragment! I make the occasional pair of earrings! I do bent wire with beads. {LOL, I know I don't have the usual hobbies for a vision impaired person; I never said it was easy!} I haven't made anything in a while but my new improved vision has me thinking! What kind of jewelry do you make? I hope you are feeling better this morning.

Patch - What a great thing to do for those with a preemie.
vjack - You are doing great. I don't know if on day two I would have been able to avoid going overboard at a luncheon.
dmc - we are here 24/7 stop by when you can.
Marie - sure hope you feel better. Most employers here have also sent out notice that if you come in sick you will be sent home.
Mel - enjoy the warm temps; before you know it you'll be knee deep in snow. I have a friend in Alaska and they just got their first snow of the year.
ICU - Me too on maintaining.... I guess it's better than gaining. My choices have not been horrible since my beer & pizza out at the pool but I have been over on my calories and not working out. I hope to get back on the treadmill tomorrow. I tried yesterday but after only five minutes my knee started to hurt just a little.
Hydra - Please do share what you make, would love to see pictures.
Patch - I so wish I had your patience to sit and make something. I have all the time in the world but my adult onset ADD keeps me bouncing from one thing to another.

jasmine: congrats on the 10k, great job!
hydra: I do beading but haven't worked on anything in a long time...have pieces for a number of projects waiting to be put together. I do collages and photography as well...we seem to be a crafty bunch!
marie: hope you feel better soon, we have two bugs going around at work and I'm hoping to avoid them. loved your spaghetti legs and arms image!
penguin: good luck with the bible study, sounds like you're being stretched : ) I have a friend who likes to say God doesn't need our ability, but our availability. I bet you do great!
icu: wow, sounds like you're having a rough time! hope things improve. I like your outlook about the long term view.
I have another pt appointment today, a friend is taking me in exchange for lunch, no clue where we're going so we'll see how well I stay on plan. Still waiting impatiently for my scales to arrive, the bathroom scale is supposed to get here on the 26th. The only thing I don't like about amazon is the shipping takes forever. Working on getting another room cleaned out on my "weekend", I'll have the whole house cleaned and organized in time for my lease to end on the 30th! Looking at new places but haven't made a decision about moving.
For those of you working a normal schedule, the week is almost over! Hope it's been a good one : )

Marie: I hope you're feeling better!
patchworkpenguin: how was the Bible Study?
ICUwishing: hope someone rescues your turtle from the post soon. I like the long term view as a coping mechanism.
Hydra: hope you are continuing to recovery -- a weekend of jewelery making sounds perfect!
weightlosswanted: hope your PT appointment goes well and that your lunch is both fun and healthy!
We got our early dinner fixed and eaten last night and I felt ridiculously proud that we didn't give in and go for fast food instead. Our homemade bean enchiladas are both healthier and tastier than fast food!
Tonight's challenge is a potluck supper. I'm bringing a big salad so I know that there will be one healthy thing to eat.

Penguin, I bet you’ll lead the group just fine.
Mel, enjoy your weather. We’re having 90’s too. Most are complaining but I love it.
ICU, ok the avatar change is a little odd. Although how did Mr Turtle get up there??? Did he have help? OK, reading further, apparently the turtle is a Mrs. I hope your week starts to improve. As I went from a stomach virus to a cold yesterday, my week isn’t the best either. I think it’s wrong that DS gave me his cold on his b-day. I mean, I gave birth to him – shouldn’t he be more thankful???
Hydra, jewelry making is so cool. I bet that is fun. And it keeps the hands busy. It’s so hard to munch when holding little gems.
Cruise, between you and ICU, I wish my employer would send me home. There not to that point in my neck of the woods. And I could work from home (with my doggies). Definitely take it easy on getting back into the workouts because of your fall. As ICU mentioned, in five years, looking back at this point of not exercising much so you can recover isn’t even something you’d remember.
WLW, I’ve noticed amazon has been way faster on shipping lately. I pretty much always choose the free shipping and I hate that it takes 7 days just for them to get it out the door. Lately they’ve been getting it out the door in a day. I’m guessing that the economy is a factor as they’re expediated shipping requests are way down and us cheapies are moving up the lists faster.
Joy, the salad can take up most of your plate. Just a dob of the other dishes and you’ll be right on track. Have fun tonight at the supper and don’t sweat the eating part.
So we've been pretty lucky through the wildfire season up until today. The sky is gray and there's not a cloud in sight. The smoke made the sunrise an incredible pink/orange but breathing (asthma) and swallowing (cold) is painful. I'm with ICU on this week being ready to end.

Well no one got up and left the group so I guess I did all right, and we had a few more than I thought we would! I kept rushing because I thought we were behind and then we finished early! We're studing about Noah and the ark and its a running joke because its been raining so much here, but not as bad as either Chatanooga or Atlanta.
Marie, I didn't realize that Amazon had free shipping but then I haven't ordered anything in at least a year.
WLW, I like your friend's saying. I've always been very introverted, and have never lead anything before last year when I became a co-leader. I laughed in the ear of the poor woman who called me to ask me to become a leader because it was something I had never considered! But its not so bad once you get over the first terror of speaking before others. I was a nervous wreck last year but am much calmer this year, and I'm sure that makes the 'girls' calmer also.
Cat, You should have seen me yesterday when my spool of ribbom kept falling off the table and rolling across the floor, I wasn't very paitence then. Poor April kept coming in to check to make sure I was okay! {I wasn't!} You could try step one, then go onto something else, then back for step two etc. I have days that I call 'putter days' when I keep going from one thing to another. As in "i just puttering around today, I didn't finish anything".

PatchworkPenguin I'm glad the doc says your eyes are in great shape! Glad to hear that the Bible Study went well...
Vjack it's a couple days later since the post about your urge to binge. How are you doing? Hanging in there? Have you thought about just throwing the Pringles away so they can't taunt you?
Marie how are the spaghetti arms and legs? Hopefully back to normal by now! I'm sorry you still weren't well as of yesterday... I hate when things come back around in the late afternoon... I hope today is better. Sorry to hear that the air quality is so bad.
Hydra I'm glad you're feeling better. Were you able to get the callantetics in today?
DMC2009 did the pound stick? Fingers crossed...
GardenerJoy good for you, with all your food planning... I'm sure the pot luck will be fine tonight; enjoy your salad! I went to a new book club last night and ate my healthy dinner before racing out the door to get there. It turns out she had a HUGE spread, and I'm happy to say I only had 2 pieces of cheese and a strawberry. I have a new habit -- wait to take food until the very end (in this case, before we moved into the next room). Or like with a zucchini bread, I won't have any until we are down to the last slice or two. It really helps me with portion control and not allowing a treat to turn into a debacle. Maybe that will help you in some way.
Jasmine WTG on the 10K yesterday!! How are your legs feeling today?
CanadaMel Glad to hear that all is well; thanks for checking in!
ICUWishing it sounds like quite a week! The new avatar is, um, interesting....... but I'm looking forward to seeing your smiling face again, especially since it will hopefully indicate that your rough sailing has passed...
CruiseCAT patience with the knee... give it time...
WeightlossWanted I hope you had a nice guilt-free lunch today!
Here, I'm doing well. I haven't gone below my 160.7 low, but this morning I was at 161.0, so I'm considering it normal fluctuation for now...
I live just outside of Pittsburgh, and you may know that the G-20 is being hosted here. Last night I saw an enormous military transport helicopter flying very low and slowly over my neighborhood -- I figured it was getting ready to land at a helipad in the next town over that is probably pretty close as the crow flies. What a weird thing to see over your house!

I don't think the pound is going to stick. I am so bummed. Last night was soooo stressfull, I had so much to do and things that weren't planned turned up as well.
Finally, when the night calmed down, I ate two chocolate chip cookies, some cheese puff thingys and some chocolate graham crackers. OMGosh. A total bing.
Not feeling very good about it today, but still walking and so far back on plan today.
Can one binge really wreck it all? :?::?::?:

No, DMC2009 one binge can't wreck it all... only if you let it, which clearly you won't. All you've got to do is dust yourself and start again, which you have done.

I am back on track, today I have logged already 6000 plus miles. I put on a ped. today to see, and I do the same thing all the time, I think I must put at least 10,000 on my ped every day!
So maybe the damage wasn't so bad, but it was the action. I just can't understand those feelings and that binging. But... I am sure it could have been worse.
Okay, new leaf, thanks for the support, I am back on track.
I just know then next 12 weeks are going to be hard because of this new class I am taking. Very stressfull, top it off with my DD homework I have to help with. gahahhahahahah:o

Hi everyone!
I love this forum! I didn't have a chance to check in yesterday...was such a crazy day at work---started at 7:00 and didn't get out until 5:30...plus lots of trekking back and forth to meetings in different buildings---I was one tired woman when I got home.
So..thought I'd check in..
ICU-solitude is great -for a while--but I am definitely thinking I'll need to do something to fill up my time, especially when winter comes. I am not "crafty" like some of you are with the jewelry and kitting. My daughter and I have been talking about taking a class, though, so I'll have something to fill my nights.
Newleaf--can you believe I didn't binge? I almost couldn't believe it myself. I counted out the 14 pringles and then put the container away. I had a grazing kind of dinner...but it worked and I stayed within points. Thank you so much for checking in.
I've stayed off the scale this week-waiting til my WW weigh in on Saturday to see how I do. Have been following the program, so am hoping for good news. I know I'm feeling good about how I'm eating- so that's a great thing.
DMC: your mileage is impressive..how long did it take? I am still trying to get motivated to exercise. Although I know I'll feel better, I am achy alot so it's REALLY challenging for me to get moving. You said you were wondering what triggered the "binge" you had--it may sound kind of silly, but I'm wondering if the cc cookie was crispy. I noticed your other food selections were. Usually when I'm stressed, I find that I have a craving for crunchy stuff...wonder if it has something to do with releasing built-up tension from the stress?? You've got me thinkin! :)

Lunch was good, I ordered pan steamed mussels w/ garlic, spinach and tomatoes over linguine. No sauce other then the broth. I only ate one mouthful of the linguine...ate most of the mussels and picked out the tomatoes and spinach, what little there was. Then on to pt where they worked my butt off-they put me on a bike and an "arm bike". Talk about spaghetti arms and legs, and that was just the warmup! Followed by a free, very small oreo ice cream sandwich at carvel. My scale was waiting for me when I got home, though it wasn't supposed to get here until the 26th. It seems like every time I whine y'all send me positive vibes! And if it was right I've lost more weight, .6 lbs fully clothed and with shoes on! I'll have to compare it to what the scale at the gym says tomorrow just to be sure. I'm thinking I'm on the right track though, lately I've been craving things like cranberries and walnuts in my oatmeal, and a bowl of cheerios for a snack.

That's awesome, WeightlossWanted. The lunch sounds delicious, and awesome news about the weight loss! I weighed myself immediately before my dr's appointment, and then immediately when I got there (so no time for fluctuations), and the two scales were in sync. Hopefully you will see the same result.
Good job, Vjack on the Pringles. Fortunately, I think they taste like styrofoam, so no temptation there. But tonight after the boys went to bed, I wanted some cookies, so I had 3. I told myself that having 3 did not give me permission to finish the entire cookie jar. And it worked. I *wanted* to keep going, but I didn't. Baby steps, right?

Good morning! Toady is going to be a great day! The scale has been very unkind to me the last few weeks. I have seen everything from 180 - 186, seemed to settle at 183 until today. I have made a strong effort to journal what I am eating and I am eliminating some of the carbs (very hard for me). Yesterday I was back to 180 and today I am at 179. Glad to be back in the game. What really amazed me was how I felt at 186, about the same as I felt at 235 or 240, disgusted. I guess that's a good thing because I am so motivated to never go back there!
This week has been extremely long for me. Since we were out of town last weekend, I feel as if I haven't had a break in 2 weeks. DD's hectic schedule is working out fine with the aid of carpooling! I would not let her do so much if I had to do all of the driving. As soon as the time changes, we will eliminate soccer practice and after November it will be only swimming.
Again, I want all of you to know how much I appreciate all of your posts. I know it is a huge motivator for me, you guys are the best. I promise to spend some time on personals after school. Hope everyone has a great day!

Marie: hope you're feeling better after getting DS's cold for his birthday and dealing with wildfire smoke
patchworkpenguin: Yay for your Bible Study going well. I'm an introvert, too, and I've been amazed at the things I'm willing to do now that I'm over 40. A little more confidence and a little less self-conscious and I happily give presentations, lead workshops, and otherwise act like performing isn't the scariest thing in the world. It's a big surprise.
newleaf123: excellent idea about waiting to the end to take things from food spreads, that will definitely prevent repeats of some of my past debacles. Hope your experience with G-20 is a series of interesting events, but not too intrusive!
dmc2009: I agree with newleaf, one binge is not the end. You can't fail if you don't quit! Is there any way you can plot a strategy that will help you on class nights -- fixing extra food on Sundays so you have pre-prepared meals in the fridge or freezer perhaps? And congrats on the looser clothes!
vjack: great observation about the crispy foods. I've been reading lots of books lately and at least a couple have mentioned that as a trigger for some people. The standard advice is carrots or celery -- pre-prepped so that they are easy to grab. My mother used to keep carrots in ice water which was supposed to make them even crispier.
Just a little encouragement to take a short walk -- 5 or 10 minutes to start. Regular exercise has really helped my achiness! I started with 10 minute walks and gradually added to them.
Onmyway: yay for getting out of the 180s! Hope you get some down time this weekend.
The potluck supper last night ended up being easy -- everyone brought salads!

Hi, everyone! I think the worst is over ... survived to Friday, and now office politics has essentially canceled the training I was supposed to do tonight. The weather has rearranged the canoeing plans - now it's just one day, so I can get it together and actually have one full day to myself this weekend. Next week will still be a bit nutso with H working overtime, but nothing on the level that this last week was. Whew. Best thing I can say is that I got through it.
I'm a crunchy-muncher too - I dearly love the potato chips (crunchy/salty) and pretzels. Once I figured out that's what it was, I found out I can derail it with celery dipped in hot salsa. MUCH less damage. Popcorn with Tabasco can do it too. :)
OMW - yes, I've noticed that my threshold is dropping right along with my weight. I guess it's a good thing - I cannot remember the last time that I was freaked out by the thought of going over 155! I sincerely hope to be able to feel the same way about 150 sometime this fall!
vjack - sounds like you're doing just fine! The technique of dosing out the food and then removing the container from sight has helped me with learning portion control - especially with the bugaboo of another crunchy/salty --- NUTS. :)
dmc - nope, no single binge wrecks it all. You can eat stuff that might cost you a few pounds of water weight for a few days, but just imagine how awful it would be to sit down and eat 3500 calories in one sitting! Not likely. Not for regular folks. And if you do, we even have a forum for that - Chicks In Control. I spent quite a bit of time over there early in the year. When I was a competitive swimmer in high school, it was TYPICAL for me to eat 12,000 a day during the season. But I don't swim 4 1/2 hours a day any more, so a plate of spaghetti piled 3" high doesn't work, and a tummy that learned how to like being filled to the brim doesn't either. Fear not - just keep doing what you know will work, and DON'T allow yourself to get negative! There is NO value in it!
newleaf - I see you teasing the 150's there! I'll be curious to hear if seeing the first 5 on the scale is as emotional for you as it was for me - there was something about that 5 that was a true thrill. :)
wlw - you are doing so well! It is fun when the tastebuds start to realign. There are so many wonderful natural flavors out there - stuff that's better than anything that can be "built" in a laboratory.
TGIF!!!!

ICUWishing, not quite teasing yet, I haven't really seen the scale give a second thought to flashing up the 16_ yet... But hopefully soon!
Today I got on my bike and did a fantastic bike ride. It is very hilly where I live, and the hills intimidate me. You can't go 1/4 mile in any direction without having to climb a huge hill. But the weather was perfect and I decided to give it a try. Plotted out my route and took off. It was definitely difficult in spots, but not once did I need to (or even think about) get off and walk the bike. This felt like a huge accomplishment.

Hey gang! I have been really busy at work the past few days and I am on call for any problems this weekend. So I will be stuck around the house or not far from it all weekend.
Good thing I got my jewelry making stuff out. I have plenty of supplies to make several pieces. I work with silver wire and make simple silver wire and beaded earrings (I am allergic to gold and it breaks my skin out something fierce, can't work with it at all). I also like to make small, medium and long beaded necklaces (depending on what I or the person wants to wear) using semi-precious stones and colorful glass beads. I will also make the occasional bracelet or anklet after getting a person's measurements.

Hello everyone. I would really like to join your group, if it's not to late.
Last summer I lost 30 lbs when I started running and eating healthy. I gained 8 lbs back since Christmas when my mom passed away unexpectedly. When she passed, I gave up hope in myself as well as my running. This summer I have started on my journey again to lose my extra weight, get healthy, and renew my love of running. I sure could use the motivation and support from you wonderful people.

Everyone else: have a great weekend!
Today's adventure is going to visit one of our CSA farms. It's a couple of hours out. They are feeding us, but I'm not too worried about finding something on my plan to eat. I'm pretty sure that I can count on having lots of farm-fresh vegetables to choose from!

CruiseCAT, sorry that your knee is still not right yet... have fun with the doggies at the park!
GardenerJoy how fun to go out to the CSA farm! I'm considering doing a CSA next year, but need to research it a little further. If I recall from the information I saw this spring, the places around here don't deliver, which leaves you having to go out to the farm each week? Not sure... Have you been happy with the CSA?
I experienced exhilaration this morning! My DS8 had a soccer game this morning and I grabbed a certain Gore-Tex jacket from my skinny days to keep me dry. I LOVE this jacket. But the problem is, it is a pull over your head, long enough to cover your bottom. It's got a heavy zipper up the side (from the bottom) so you can vent heat. Anyway, when I put it on, the side zipper was up, meaning the coat was flapping open at the hip. Last time I wore it, I *couldn't* zip the zipper down -- it was too tight across the butt. Today -- down it went, easy. This is a jacket from my skinny days, that I have a lot of fond hiking memories in. I am thrilled to be wearing it again!

And at least the scale didn't go up.
Yes, it was a crunchy cookie. Last night it was crunchy pretzels.
I lost momentum, but still working out and walking every single day and tracking my food. Its at night that I do the BAD deeds.
Heavy sigh...
Today is a new day, and a new opportunity.
Glad to see everyone here and sorry to be such a drive byer!!!

wyndymoon - welcome!
Hydra - your jewellery sounds lovely. Are you willing to share any pictures?
ICUwishing - ooh, I like your snack suggestions. I'm allergic to garlic, so I can't eat salsa. Do you have any suggestions for other celery dippers?
weightlosswanted - congratulations on the .6 of a pound. Every little bit helps.
I'm struggling with what to eat these days. When I lost the first 20 pounds, I was only exercising lightly. Now, I'm doing 5-6 hours a week in the gym, with interval training to keep my heart rate up. I was feeling extremely hungry all the time, so I tried to increase my calories somewhat. That didn't work well and I still had crazy cravings. I went to the part of this site where people weight train and they recommended a certain author, Tom Venuto. I read his book and followed his recommendations to a "t". I also gained half a pound in 3 days. Sigh. Now, I'm going to combine some of his recommendations with my previous way of eating and hope for the best. The good thing was that while I was eating the way he recommended, my energy level soared. The weight gain was not good, though. It is frustrating to have such a messed up body. I try not to think about the hormone specialist doctor who said I would not be able to lose weight without drugs. I'm determined to find a way, though.

Pres,
Muscle weighs more than fat, so maybe you are doing some serious firming up.
Today, out of curiosity, I pulled out the tape measure, so I looks like I have lost 2 inches off my waist, maybe more if counting my all time high.
that is encouraging. I am still tracking and still exercising and every night I don't eat is a good one. I am not having the wine and really avoiding sugar still, so that is good.
Lets keep moving!

Penguin, amazon has free shipping when the items are sold through them (not through a different store that sells through them) and if it’s over $25. It used to take a long time to get it with free shipping (they still warn about that) but lately I get all items within a week. Take a look.
Newleaf, I love your strategy eating at a get together. Wait till the end. You don’t mind if I steal that idea, do you? You are very wise. And happy dance on the bike ride. :carrot::carrot: Way to go. Enjoy your “new” Gore-tex jacket. You are finding loads of NSVs.
DMC, one binge can only hurt if you let it. Learn from it – think about triggers and how you can respond to them in the future. We don’t live in a vacuum where life is easy and smooth. Stress happens and we’re human. Give yourself a break, jump back on the wagon and ride it to your goal.
Vjack, it’s Saturday and I hope your weigh in went well. Congrats counting the Pringles and sticking to it. Weighing, measuring and counting are the keys to my weight loss.
WLW, I loved PT. It’s where I fell in love with the elliptical. After two months they brought me over to it for warmups because my knee was doing so well. I was terrified of it, and now it’s my exercise partner. I researched them and spent nearly 3X what I’d decided and am so glad I did. Isn’t spaghetti arms and legs wonderful? :D
OMW, woohoo on the 170’s. :carrot::carrot:Congrats big time. You are on your way again, no doubt!
Joy, too funny on the salad potluck! :dizzy: I’m an introvert as well. People I work with don’t believe me when we occasionally get on the topic. I point out “just how well do you know me?” and they realize that I don’t socialize outside of work. I can pretend really well because I do have to be social in my job but my real life is at home in rural America with my doggies. Have fun at your CSA farm – and what is a CSA farm?
ICU, I’m glad the 1st horrendous week is over. I looked at the 12000 number and wondered if I could ever eat that much. But I’ve always been fat and not active. Funny thing, in my age group acquaintances now, I am the most active (except my triathlon friend) and am ribbed about that. But in high school, I was lazy except on the ski slopes. And I don’t care what calorie sites say, downhill skiing doesn’t burn the number they say. It is torturous on the quads at high speeds, but it’s bursts, then you stand in lift lines and sit on your butt riding back up the hill. If one burns 800 cals/hour, then that has to be one big long run. ;)
Hydra, refresh my memory of your job. You mentioned you were on call. I would hate that. So I’m the opposite of you on jewelry allergies. I’m allergic to silver. The last time I tried wearing silver, I was driving down the road, my earlobe burning. Then I felt drip, drip. My ear started to bleed. The earrings had been an heirloom from my grandmother so I had to try. I have since given them to my sister.
Wyndy, welcome to the group and I am very sorry about your loss. I’m glad you’re back on journey and found a way to find hope in yourself again.
Cruise, I wish your knee was better. Don’t you hate to admit when it’s not healing? I’m not fond of drs, especially orthopedists (lately as those are who I tend to see). However, they are the ones that referred me to PT before surgery and I loved PT and don’t need surgery on the knee. Now my wrist, surgery was the only idea so I never went back but… more in a minute.
Presmaggie, hang in their friend. Life is trial and error. You’ll figure out what mix works best for you. Perhaps you might want to use the tape measure as your tracker because if you’re exercising so much, you will be leaner and not lose weight. Eventually your muscles will be burning more cals too and the fat weight will lose. You are doing awesome.
OK, back to the wrist… I was walking across the wood floor about an hour ago, turned, my heel stepped on an ice chip Kai Bear left on the floor and my legs went out. I landed on my wrist that didn’t heal from this spring’s rollerblade fall. I admitted to DH “Should I tell you now or later?” He says, “You bought another dog (another story).” Me – “Huh? No, I just fell on my wrist.” So now he’s worried. I’m a little concerned at the moment but I’m not sure it hurts a lot more than it always hurts. Hmm, the fun never stops. This week has been a bad health week. The cold is now moving to my chest and the asthma is kicking it’s heels up. But here’s the difference between the now me and the old me referred to up earlier in the post – I won’t stop exercising. I’m an addict. I love that particular high. And the smoke is still in the dangerous zone for outdoor activity. As I said, bad health week. But I’ve stayed on plan and even stayed away from my scale. That’s hard when you’re going good. It’s easy to avoid when binging but I love seeing my efforts sometimes rewarded by the evil scale. I think I put an appointment on my iphone to weigh on Oct. 16. OK, time for lunch since DH made it a little ago and I haven’t moved from his computer. ;):o

New Leaf : good job on the bike ride! hoping I can start doing that someday. no hills here in the low country though : )
cruise:sorry the knee isn't healing well, x-rays might be a good idea.
wyndy: welcome!
hydra: you're giving me the itch to pull out my bead trays!
icu: hope a "me" day helps : )
marie: ouch on the wrist!
joy: the trip to the csa sounds like fun. we have a couple here but you have to go to a pickup point (hard to do with no car) and their packages are designed for a family, not a single person. I bet lunch was great and super healthy!
pres: I agree, in the past I've found when working out builds muscle it can temporarily slow weight loss but you'll keep losing inches. and those muscles will help you lose more weight over the long term.
So I bought myself a "magic" scale from amazon.com. Everytime I get on it, it reads two pounds lighter - I can step on and then off 5x in a row and lose 10 lbs in 5 minutes...it could only happen to me : ) Scale at the gym shows only .5 lbs lost, I'll take it!
Got my digital food scale today, hoping it works better than the bathroom scale.

We finally had a beautiful day of sunshine to enjoy today. Hubby and I did some errands in the morning but started to feel badly , so came home to take a nap. We're feeling better again. LOL
The electricity went off for a few hours Fri and I didn't realize the computer was still off. Out of sight out of mind
WLW, I like your magic scale also!
Marie, sorry to hear about your wrist.
Newleaf, Yay on the jacket fitting!
Wyndy, Sorry for your loss. Good job on restarting the weightloss. Welcome.
Hydra, I use stainless steel wire, I haven't the nerve to try silver! Your work sounds beautiful. Post pics if you can.
ICU, Moslty I'm a choc fiend but occasionally I get the crunchy munchies. I can't keep chips in the house but seasoned croutons are a favorite of mine.
Joy, I had "Young Moms" last year {20's-30's but some 40's} and we had a hard time getting them to open their mouths especially for the first few months. {we don't call on anyone, if you want to answer the questions its up to you} but this year I'm co leading the 50-60 age and these women aren't afraid to speak their mind. Its actually a refreashing change. When I first started I didn't speak for the first 6 months, and still have trouble sometimes, even though I'm 'In charge!"

newleaf123: I love our CSA. Ours delivers to several locations in the area. My pick up location is quite close. It definitely encourages us to try my veggies in more ways. Congrats on the "new" old jacket!
dmc2009: keep stopping by -- I'm convinced that helps! Yay for the 2 inches lost! I'm doing the tiniest amount of strength training and I swear that I'm thinner at this weight than I was the last two times I was here. I don't have measurements to prove it, but I really feel like the strength training is making my 10 pound loss feel more like 15 or 20.
presmaggie and Marie: CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. You pay a subscription fee in the middle of winter to get a box of veggies every week during the growing season. The idea is that the community takes on some of the risk -- if the tomato field gets flooded, we don't get tomatoes in our box. Our CSA has two farms, so the risks are substantially lowered -- both farms are growing tomatoes, so if one crop fails, the other farm is likely to be able to take up the slack. It's a great way to support local farms and get fresh, locally-grown produce. A good source for finding CSA is:
http://www.localharvest.org/
presmaggie: Good for you for making changes to see what works for you.
Marie: hope your wrist heals quickly. DH fell on his wrist during a bike ride and had off and on problems for a year or so every time it got wrenched in some way. It did seem to heal a bit faster each time. He found a brace helped some. I always recommend ice, but he thinks it's cold and rarely takes me up on the offer!
patchworkpenguin: LOL at the 50-60 women who speak their minds! That sounds like a great group.
The farm tour lunch had lots of veggies -- unfortunately, they were mostly squash and potatoes. Oh well, I kept the portions small and did okay -- and got in some walking. It was a fun trip with some beautiful scenery.

dmc2009 - one step at a time and before you know it, you'll be at goal!
Marie - I hope your wrist is ok. Thanks for the support. I have actually lost an inch on my waist in the last week or two, so maybe all my work is paying off in muscle build-up.
weightlosswanted - how frustrating about the scale. Wouldn't it be great if we could lose weight that fast, though? ;)
patchworkpenguin - isn't it interesting how much the older women speak out? Yesterday, I went to a talk at my church's women's group and the speaker was 67 and she had gained so much wisdom from just living her life. I look forward to being that age and being more peaceful about my life, no matter what happens. She had had some really trying times and she was able to see the good that eventually came out of everything.
We're having the last gasp of summer, I think. It was one of those gorgeous sunny, crisp days yesterday. The leaves are starting to change color and it is truly my favorite time of year. Last night, dh and I had one of our rare nights out. After a wonderful dinner (roast chicken, potatoes and veggies with a couple of spoonfuls of dh's dessert), we went for a walk down to the harbour where the lights of the older, cherished buildings were reflected in the mirror-like surface of the water. Heaven.

gardenerjoy - I guess we posted at the same time. Thanks for the explanation on the CSA. We have a similar kind of thing here, but I haven't participated due to the fact that all winter it would be nothing but kale and chard and I can only eat so much of that stuff.

WLW, return the scale. No scale should ever give you a variation. The only time I had that with a scale was when I set it on carpet. I moved it to hard floor and the variation went away.
Penguin, how odd that we’re 2000 miles apart and our electricity was out on Friday for a while as well. Yesterday I was digging out my 105 cal serving of M&Ms and said to my husband, “Hello, my name is Marie. I’m a chocoholic.” So you have a fiend here as well.
Joy, thanks for the explanation. That is an incredible idea. I can see why all of you here are excited by your CSA. And both squash and potatoes are good for you. It’s the drenching of butter that usually ruins their reputations. ;)
Presmaggie, sounds like your date with DH was wonderful. Between the dinner and walk, it sounds romantic and wonderful.
My wrist is back to where it was before the fall so that is good. The cold is causing havoc with my asthma (with the thick smoke not helping in the least). I failed my idea of not weighing for a month. :o I made it a week. I just couldn’t handle seeing the scale and wanting to know what it says. I did get to 149 from the 149.6 so I got to change my ticker. :D I also went on a mango frenzy an hour ago. The cold fruit feels so good down the throat. I really love mangos. I’d never had them before this summer and I’ve gone wacko for them.

Nothing much exciting going on today. I am thinking about pulling out the treadmill which is better than my usual 'exer-what?"
Its suppposed to be sunny for the next few days until thursday night when it will start raining again. Sigh.
Marie, Even if I have something non choc for dessert I STILL want choc.
Maggie, I feel the difference between the two ages is that the younger are still aware/nervous about what others think of them or will say about them, while the older women know who they are and aren't afraid of what others think.

Be proud of me I got the treadmill out, acutally I batted my eyelashes at Hubby and he got it out for me.... But I ran on it. I did Cardio Coach 1!, which is 35 min of walk/jog intervals. Hopefully, I'll still be able to walk tomorrow, I tried not to overdo it since this is my first CC in a long time! I feel good, like I have accomplished something so maybe that will encourage me to exercise again tomorrow. I've got to start somewhere.

Dangit ladies, I was side tracked again by life (mostly) work related) and I haven't had the chance to properly check-in. I also have been a little bit too relaxed with food and exercise but today I've started my very own personal 90 day journalling challenge to get me back in the tracking flow again. This is my priority and you will be seeing more, but LESS of me from now on ;)
I'm on the blackberry so I can't really do personals, but I do hope you all are well and pushing forward with your own endeavours!!
