That's an excellent program to get you runners going! I've tried it several times and never get past week 4 due to my hips. I've just come to the conclusion that I've never been a runner and I will probably never be one, and I am okay with this. LOL! Maybe when I get to goal I can try again, who knows... I fell victim to the Emotional eating last night too. *sigh* I could blame TOM showing up and thus so did my scale, but I should know better than to "give in" to that by now. :nono: O'well, it's a new day and girls,:coach: WE NEED TO GET BUSY! We don't want the Red team to beat us on the first WI do we?!!!! We have our first one coming (no later than Monday), so let's rock-n-roll! Come on!!! We can do it!!!! Plan those meals, get your exercise done, drink that water and if ya feel bad or need to vent, get your butts in this thread and do it! Typing has to burn more calories that emotional eating right? :dunno:Well, we can try it. hehe! Thanks Dixie for starting our Week 1 thread. :hug:to everyone. Let's get this done! {P.S.} Twilightwing: I borrowed your Blue Team sign. I hope it's okay. ___________ wendyland 09-14-2009, 11:15 AM Good morning blue team! Thanks for the pep talk, Diva! Typing is way better than emotionally eating! I'm excited to do my first BL challenge. Echo 09-14-2009, 11:17 AM Thanks Diva for copying your message here. i love it!! :cheer3: Nixmom 09-14-2009, 11:27 AM Dixied- again, thanks for all you do! Wendyland - I'm pumped for this challenge too! I haven't completed one yet (signed up for 4 - HELLO?). Lets get through the WHOLE thing together! Diva ~ You rock. You, as a veteran to TBL, know we are gonna need a cheersquad to get through this! And we gotta start off right. Thanks for getting us in the right frame of mind. Echo - thank you too for getting stuff going. Ladies - I hate to predict the future.. but the red team is going down in Week 1! :D practiceliving 09-14-2009, 11:30 AM Good morning everyone! While I'm certainly not "happy" to hear that others understand the trap of emotional eating, I do really appreciate the support and empathy I got last night. Thank you! Today is a new day and I already feel better. Just checking email and 3FC really quickly, then it's off to make breakfast! Today I'm going old-school - peanut butter and banana on whole grain bread. Yum! Happy Monday team! Echo 09-14-2009, 11:35 AM Echo - thank you too for getting stuff going. Ladies - I hate to predict the future.. but the red team is going down in Week 1! :D awww thank you :D lol !! that's right! lets go blue team!!! time to kick some butt heheheh :cheer3: okay i'm not so good with the smack trash talking haha BRING IT to every exercise and workout and hit it HARD! theresia 09-14-2009, 12:17 PM Hello! So far this is going well. Today I started 30 day shred. I love that video. I also jogged 20 minutes, so I feel well. So far I'm staying OP. I don't count calories, but I try to eat only healty food. It has worked before, so we'll see how it goes this time. GirlyGirlSebas 09-14-2009, 12:25 PM Hiya, Bluesers! Today is one of those hectic meet-yourself-coming kind of days. And, tonight, I start photography classes! I really need to go grocery shopping, but I don't think it will happen today. So, I'm being careful to not overeat on what I have here in the house. Tomorrow, I'll shop and plan and be back on my Southbeach Phase 1. I'm looking forward to it and dreading it all at the same time....looking forward to the weight loss, but dreading the flu-like feelings. Have a great on-plan day! :cheer3: SkinnyJeansInWaiting 09-14-2009, 12:53 PM Tomorrow, I'll shop and plan and be back on my Southbeach Phase 1. I'm looking forward to it and dreading it all at the same time....looking forward to the weight loss, but dreading the flu-like feelings. :cheer3: I did SB for a short while and stopped because I could not workout or move around a lot without feeling like I might pass out on phase 1....now you mention flu symptoms so I am wondering why this is? Do you think there is something unhealthy about the plan? I am following Jillian's guide in her book for me, which is basically like SB1 but with a bit more carbs...50% protein, 20% carb, 30% fat. When I bulk up on protein I am finding I actulaly have trouble getting the carbs up to 20%! anyway, just thought I would share since I have been really wondering about SB and thought maybe I just did not do it right. :) I'll be counting my exercise minutes :cheer: woooo I am so excited this challenge is finally on. retiredone 09-14-2009, 12:59 PM I'm all ready to go this week. Got in my exercise this morning on my exercise bike as it is raining buckets outside. I'm going to try and get in another few minutes after lunch settles down in my stomach. Have a good one, everyone. UniquelyNormal 09-14-2009, 01:01 PM Morning! I prepared my grocery list on Saturday with this challenge in mind :) I'm doing a self planned mix of South Beach, Sugar Busters & Atkins. The flu-like symptoms are the toxins releasing from your body. It only lasts a little while and then you start to feel really amazing. Nella 09-14-2009, 01:20 PM Hello ladies!!! After a not so great weekend, I'm hoping to redeem myself and get things moving down on the scale again this week. I've been stuck at 183 for over a week, I need to see the 170's soon!!! I need to go to the grocery store and get some good stuff for lunches. I've been eating Smart Ones, and I think they are just too high in sodium. They are just so much easier. Anyway, GL to everyone this week!!! Newshinyme 09-14-2009, 01:27 PM Morning Team! I've been feeling a little ho-hum this last few days but after Diva's pep talk I am feeling the groove coming back. Thanks! Dixied- again, thanks for all you do! Ladies - I hate to predict the future.. but the red team is going down in Week 1! :D I love it! awww thank you :D lol !! that's right! lets go blue team!!! time to kick some butt heheheh :cheer3: okay i'm not so good with the smack trash talking haha LOL. I think it did the trick, it's more about getting ourselves motivated, right? Hiya, Bluesers! Today is one of those hectic meet-yourself-coming kind of days. And, tonight, I start photography classes! I really need to go grocery shopping, but I don't think it will happen today. How fun with the photography classes! I hear you on the groceries. I still have some veggies and fruit left but not much else. I sort of forgot that today was the first day of the challenge so I will have to make do with what I have at home. To everyone else: Glad that we are in this together, best of luck to you on your plan! econ nerd 09-14-2009, 01:54 PM I overdid it on Saturday but am on track today :) I have already done my C25K program first thing this morning and need to stock up on fruit and veggies for the week. I make a weeks worth of salads and have them ready to go each morning (except today since my fridge is pretty barren). GO BLUE!!!!!!!! Narnia99 09-14-2009, 02:11 PM  everyone Great post Diva! I plan on doing two exercise sessions today. Cardio and abs in a few minutes and then weights either this afternoon or tonight. I have my menu set up for the day, so I feel ready to go! Marianne, glad you are feeling better. We all have those days but the main thing is to move on. Nella, I have been tracking my sodium and I am shocked at the amount that is in a lot of foods. I have been eating Yves vegetarian products but the sodium content is crazy. Girlygirl, have fun at your photography class! theresia, retiredone, echon nerd, great job on your exercise this morning :cheer: lol !! that's right! lets go blue team!!! time to kick some butt heheheh okay i'm not so good with the smack trash talking haha lol, Echo. You're doing great! Have a wonderful day everyone! Diva 09-14-2009, 02:31 PM Hiya, Bluesers! Today is one of those hectic meet-yourself-coming kind of days. And, tonight, I start photography classes! Have a great on-plan day! :cheer3: Oh Rhonda, that sounds fun! I've always been interested in that too but never really took a step like this. You go girl! Good Luck on the SB! Morning Team! I've been feeling a little ho-hum this last few days but after Diva's pep talk I am feeling the groove coming back. Thanks! I love it! LOL. I think it did the trick, it's more about getting ourselves motivated, right? Your very welcome. I hope I got ya out of the ho-hums. ;) everyone Great post Diva! Now all I have to do is cook and clean. :) Hugs & Shout outs to Wendy, Echo, Nixmom, Narnia99, econ nerd, Newshiny, Dixie, Nella, UniquelyNormal, Isabella, Skinny, Theresa, & practiceliving. happeningf 09-14-2009, 03:42 PM Hey guys! I'm sending good vibes to you all.... GirlyGirlSebas 09-14-2009, 04:07 PM I did SB for a short while and stopped because I could not workout or move around a lot without feeling like I might pass out on phase 1....now you mention flu symptoms so I am wondering why this is? Do you think there is something unhealthy about the plan? When SB is done correctly, I don't think there is any healthier way to eat. The flu-like symptoms are from sugar detox on phase 1. Phase 1 helps to break the sugar addiction and relieve sugar cravings. The symptoms...fatigue and headache...can be pretty rough if you've been overloading on white starches, HFCS and refined sugars before starting the plan. However, the flu-like symptoms only last for 3-4 days. They can also be alleviated by remembering not to starve yourself. Eating something every 2-3 hours helps. Also, eating an extra serving of beans and mik products helps. If you an make it through phase 1, you will feel wonderful! So much energy, so clear headed, so positive. gatorgirl6 09-14-2009, 04:08 PM econ- I am doing the c25k too. I started w5 last week, but w5d3 was beyond me. I can't really get much past 3/4 mile. I don't know if its due to my ankle, or just being out of shape, but it wasn't going to happen. I did a modification of w5d2 today. I did run 3/4, walk 1/4, run 3/4. I shortened the walking interval. I figure I may have to spend some extra time but I don't want to give up. I know I will get it eventually. How fast do you do the running and walking sections? I did walking between 3.2 and 3.5 and the running at 6. Today was good. I am eating well and got in 50 min of exercise. The c25k took 30 min and I followed that with 20 min on the stair climber. Hopefully all this will pay off and the scale will agree with me again. I can't wait for the 160. When I was feeling down about my weight yesterday, I tried on a shirt that I know fit me when I studied in Germany the summer after my freshman year in college. It fits again. I think I wore it too tight then, so it will stay in the closet for a little while longer, but I think I am back to that size. That puts me at about 20lbs up from my high school weight. I can't wait to be so small again. :) I hope everyone is having a good day! I know we can beat that other team! Iwanawurkit 09-14-2009, 04:11 PM I love the 'Losing weight isn't for sissies!' true words. Had a great OP weekend and working on the rest of the week to stay that way! Kicking butt! Amy, I hope your little one starts feeling better quickly. happeningf 09-14-2009, 08:27 PM I am at 698 cals for the day, a little high, but a new Chik Fil A opened up by my work and I couldn't resist an Ice Dream cone... did you know they are supposedly only 170 cals?!??!?! I almost don't believe it. SkinnyJeansInWaiting 09-14-2009, 08:41 PM I rode my exercise bike for 18 miles this morning (78 mintues) and am about to go back and do more...deciding whether to bike, do a DVD or demand workout, or both. The flu-like symptoms are from sugar detox on phase 1. So, could feeling lightheaded when I exercised be from the sugar detox? I am a sugar addict :p I kept going with it until I lost my balance and fell over and couldn't see clearly from being so dizzy one day, scared me. What I do now is almost exactly what SB phase 1 was, except for the fruit and some limited whole grain carbs....okay, so kind of like SB phase 2 maybe. Leah has been sick since wednesday and saturday night took a turn for the worse  hope she feels better soon. Echo 09-14-2009, 08:52 PM I rode my exercise bike for 18 miles this morning (78 mintues) . WOW!!! that's totally awesome! Idealmuse 09-14-2009, 08:54 PM I rode my exercise bike for 18 miles this morning (78 mintues) and am about to go back and do more...deciding whether to bike, do a DVD or demand workout, or both. Congrats. 78 mins is awesome. I'll be spending a lot of time on the indoor bike this winter too (either trainer or spin bike) My backside isn't going to be too happy for some reason riding indoors is always harder. LiL PiXiE 09-14-2009, 09:08 PM Hi all!!! I've been a little busy packing and getting stuff b/c I'm moving supposedly 11/1 so I'm trying to be ahead of everything.... I hope everyone is doing well and staying on track. I'm trying...but stress makes it me eat...NOT GOOD!!! Bev 09-14-2009, 11:10 PM Hello everyone, well I am not starting off the challenge on a good foot. My knees were bothering me today so I didn't workout today. I am hoping I have a better day tomorrow. Bev wendyland 09-14-2009, 11:11 PM I am at 698 cals for the day, a little high, but a new Chik Fil A opened up by my work and I couldn't resist an Ice Dream cone... did you know they are supposedly only 170 cals?!??!?! I almost don't believe it. Ahhh! Don't tell me that. Know I'm going to want to try it the next time I go to the mall. I guess it's better than wanting the seven layer bar from one of the coffee shops that I used to get. alwe74 09-15-2009, 12:01 AM Hi Blue Team. I'm very excited to do this challenge. I am doing the Ideal Protein diet. I have lost almost 40 lbs. and have about 50 more to go. I am also doing the C25K. I just finished week 2 day 1. Good luck to everybody! Hopefulpinkangel 09-15-2009, 12:23 AM Hi all! So I've started watching my carb intake per the instructions of my nutritionist. So far so good. I'm suprised by how many things have carbs in them! I gotta limit my time here and get some sleep or I'll be the fat chick at the end of the challenge! Hey guys! I'm sending good vibes to you all.... Right back at ya! Hello everyone, well I am not starting off the challenge on a good foot. My knees were bothering me today so I didn't workout today. I am hoping I have a better day tomorrow. Bev Bev - our knees must be on the same plan. I just listened to my groan and creak for all 45 minutes of my exercise. Reminded me that this is not the weight my body likes! We can do it! Knees or no knees! I rode my exercise bike for 18 miles this morning (78 mintues) and am about to go back and do more...deciding whether to bike, do a DVD or demand workout, or both... Off to bed chicas! Tomorrow is another chance to get healthy! Diva 09-15-2009, 12:51 AM Hi all! So I've started watching my carb intake per the instructions of my nutritionist. So far so good. I'm suprised by how many things have carbs in them! I really feel good about this and I'm glad to be a part of this challenge again. Hope you all have a great day! How many a day Jen? I'm trying to find a good number. Apparently 150 isn't doing so great with my blood sugar. *sigh* I have to ask for Prayers for Jesse's (my FH) Mom Carol and keep'em coming. She was air-lifted to the Hospital tonight up in PA. She has 2 artery blockages in her neck and was scheduled for surgery in 2 weeks and now this. We don't know if it was a stroke or a seizure...We just don't know. Jess and his Dad are both a mess. Jess threw away his smokes tonight and vowed never again. Thanks. ♥ Twilightwing 09-15-2009, 02:13 AM hi bluebies:) the last few days havnt gone too well with the food part of this for me.. not that i have over eaten, quite the opposite.. i have two abcessed teeth, and am getting em yanked out on wed.. so i havnt been able to eat too much really, nor exercise. i did go for a walk today tho. wed im sure i wont be eating or exercising, but hopefully by thurs ill be feeling better. i have a great dentist so we shall see. hope everyone is doing well:hug: Institches21 09-15-2009, 02:14 AM Diva-Hugs and Prayers to your FH and his Mom ******* Hope Everyone is having a wonderful First Week/OP and Exercise Wise!! Great Start For Me-was spot on everything today. expatter 09-15-2009, 03:59 AM The weather here has turned and it's cold enough in the am for my favorite breakfast - stone cut oatmeal. Yay! I'm doing the 30 day JM rotation that is on Exercise TV, so am scheduled for 30DS Lvl 1 today and will also do some add'l cardio. I'm trying to follow the diet / exercise guidelines from the book that the Dr. on Biggest Loser wrote in which he recommends 1 hr of cardio in the am and weight lifting in the pm. Since I am at home all day, should be doable, especially since our DSL line is down at the moment and I have to use a dial-in connection. Sigh. I miss my speedy, always ready connection!! Have a great day, everyone! Iwanawurkit 09-15-2009, 07:42 AM I must limit my intact of sodium. I had Vegetable Paradise without the rice... I substituted quinoa instead and gave my egg roll to someone else....scales wasn't a good to me as I have come to expect so ...... Diva.....prayers and good thoughts comining your way for FH and his momma. Sorry if I missed anyone but I don't real well with names....maybe as we progress I can do better. maryshady 09-15-2009, 08:30 AM Morning Blue Team Just dropping in to say HI. Hope everyone is doing well. I did ok yesterday. Had a fight with a small bag of frito's and it won but got right back on plan after that. I know it was only 160 cals but if I let myself start eating junk that is all I will want to eat. Have a good one! Diva 09-15-2009, 09:04 AM Thanks Instiches & Iwanawurkit. UniquelyNormal 09-15-2009, 09:29 AM So, could feeling lightheaded when I exercised be from the sugar detox? I am a sugar addict :p I kept going with it until I lost my balance and fell over and couldn't see clearly from being so dizzy one day, scared me. What I do now is almost exactly what SB phase 1 was, except for the fruit and some limited whole grain carbs....okay, so kind of like SB phase 2 maybe. I think the detox causes things like bad breath & headaches but I don't think it'll cause dizziness. I wonder if you are getting enough to eat. Calories are not an issue when limiting your carbs. I'm a little slow on the uptake when it comes to exercise. There I was sitting reading a book while my daughter was at her 2 hour gymnastic practice... and what do you suppose I was sitting next to?? A track. Derrrr Liz - bring your walking shoes next time!! So I didn't get in my workout yesterday but I stuck with my healthy eating habits. Hopefulpinkangel 09-15-2009, 10:22 AM How many a day Jen? I'm trying to find a good number. I try to stay within the range that she gave me, but not go all the way to the higher end unless I have too. Snacks are only if I need them. Hope that helps you! Prayers coming your way! dream710 09-15-2009, 10:36 AM Morning Blue! Diva-You, Jesse, and his family are in my thoughts and prayers. Liz-great job on eating healthy. Next week, you're gonna use that track right? ;) How old is your DD? maryshady-great job on getting back on track. expatter-good luck on starting JM 30DS. twilight-OUCH! Hi to everyone else Went to do my abjam dvd this morning and the dvd player ate it! It won't play, it won't spit out the disc, I was sooo mad :tantrum:. So I had to do my pilates (I have memorized) hopefully hubby will be able to figure it out. Plan for exercise today- 20 minutes pilates, 35 min treadmill, and my last chance workout during TBL. I best get my butt in gear, work is calling my name. Everyone rock on!:dancer: Diva 09-15-2009, 11:03 AM Thank sux about your DVD player Dream. :( I hope hubby can get it out of there. Mine won't eat them, it will play the first 5 minutes of any given DVD and then freeze. Grrrrrrr... Thanks for the prayers. Thanks Jen, that is a big help, I'm trying to get mine down to 100 for the entire day, but it's hard. It's also hard counting calories and carbs. Thank you too for the prayers. I hope she's gonna be okay. She's a tough cookie so hopefully she's gonna pull through whatever this is. Gotta go get on my sweats and hit the GYM. See y'all later. Nixmom 09-15-2009, 11:23 AM Quick hello bluesers. I may not be back today so wanted to check in. Diva ~ my prayers are with you and your family... camp angels around her in that hospital and she'll be fine! Expatter – what do you mean rotation. Are they going through the 30DS levels? I'd love to check it out. Girlygirl – I am dying to hear about your photography class. I have ALWAYS wanted to take one. Please share! Maryshady ~ You show those Fritos who’s boss woman! Next round, you know who the winner will be! I had to fight off a bag of lays yesterday. Realized that if I have to count how many chips I eat, it isn’t nearly as much fun as shoving them effortlessly into my face. So I stopped eating them. :^: Okay chicks, off to work and I'll try to get back here sometime tonight. STAY OP!!!! Tonights the big night! Are we doing challenges during TBL commercials????????? retiredone 09-15-2009, 11:35 AM Just a quick hi to everyone. Hope your little girl is much better by now amouse and Diva your FH's mom is in my prayers. My friend died this morning just about an hour and a half ago. She had cancer that was only diagnosed a month ago. She was tired and run down but didn't go to the doctor until she couldn't function. So sad for her husband and daughter. Other than the sad news I received all is well in my neck of the woods. Keeping on plan with both food and exercise. Let's whip the pants off the Red Team this week by winning. :D practiceliving 09-15-2009, 11:39 AM Good morning team! My planned day yesterday went well. Dinner didn't go as planned because I ended up on an emergency coffee date with a girlfriend; did the best I could with the options I had! Today I have a plan too, and tonight is a trainer night at the gym. Hooray! Diva - Prayers for your FH's mom and your family. Big pat on the back to your FH for dumping the smokes! Mercy03 09-15-2009, 11:59 AM I am so psyched up about this competition and the premiere of Bl tonight. That show saved me. Last year I had gained 25 pounds and feeling pretty ****ty about myself. This forum has also brought on a new dedication within myself to not only lose weight, but to be healthy and strong as well. Thank you everyone for all you do here:) econ nerd 09-15-2009, 12:36 PM econ- I am doing the c25k too. I'm pretty slow. I walk at about 3 and run (jog I mean) at 4 but I speed up to 5 for the last part. I'll work on the time first and once I am done th eprogram I will work on increasing my speed. econ nerd 09-15-2009, 12:40 PM I'm not feeling well today. I got myself some sort of stomach bug... No appetite (that's a good thing ;) ) and frequent trips to the potty... Hope it passes soon. I skipped the gym this morning and went to work for a few hours but came back home. My lunch is back in the fridge and likely to stay there. I'll see if I can find some soup instead. I doubt a salad would be soothing to my innards... Maybe a nap is in order :D Need to be rested up to watch the season premier tonight! Hope everyone is having a better day than me! GO BLUE!!!!!! inklestinkle 09-15-2009, 01:45 PM Well, I was hoping to catch up on personals this week, but it's not going so great so far... My family has the flu. I feel horrible. Plus tom at the same time, so this week is going to suck. I can't exercise and I've been in bed for two days... I'm hoping the fact that I all I can eat is chicken soup will help take off a 1/2 pound or so. This is so not how I wanted to start off this challenge. I don't wanna let yall down. I hope everyone else has a better week and I'll check back in when I'm feeling a bit better. gatorgirl6 09-15-2009, 01:48 PM Econ-Are you doing it for distance or time? I am doing it for distance, and I have no idea how they think I should be able to run 2 miles by now. So not going to happen. I agree that speed doesn't matter right now. I don't look at how long it takes me other than to see how long total I have worked out. I figure that I will have to slow down to be able to do the longer runs, and I can speed back up once done with the program. Retire- Sorry to hear about your friend. Diva- Prayers coming your way. Hope everyone is having a good day. I have off from class today due to my professor being out of town so it is a day to catch up on errands, chores, school and workout. I normally work out for about 50 min, but today I am going to shoot for 70. ... Now to get off the couch and go to the gym.... Nella 09-15-2009, 01:48 PM Retiredone - I'm so sorry about your friend Diva - I hope your FH's mom will be ok Econ - That stinks about your tummy bug. I hope you feel better. I got up at 5:30 this morning to go jogging, and it was pitch black outside. I was upset about that, I was really motivated to go. We don't have street lights, so I was kinda afraid to go in the dark, you just never know. I would have done a video of some sort, but I didn't want to wake anyone else. I'm having a bit of a stressful time at home. I have 2 teenage step-daughters (and their she-devil mother) that make my life very difficult sometimes. They live with us Mon-Fri and I love them and do everything I can for them, but being the "outsider" is often a hard pill to swallow. I told my DH today that I was just going to step away from them for a while and focus on me. This should be a good thing for me. Less stress and more "forced" time to go off and exercise by myself. Looking forward to TBL starting on TV tonight. I've only seen a few episodes a while back. Newshinyme 09-15-2009, 01:49 PM Hello Team! I gotta say I did pretty well yesterday considering I had forgotten I had to "officially" start the challenge . Stayed under my calories (and healthy ones too) and got a workout in. I still need to go grocery shopping today though :) LiL PiXiE: I hear you. I am moving in less than 2 weeks and it's madness in here. Bev: Ouch your knees! take care of them, hope you feel better soon Hopefulpinkangel: Glad to have you here too! Diva: Sending good vibes to you, FH and Mom. Twilightwing: Oh poor thing! feel better soon! maryshady: Ack! Those damn fritos! I am wondering how some of this junk mysteriously made it back into my house too. dream710: You are a determined woman. Had my player gone wonky on my I probably would have thrown my arms up in the air and moved on. retiredone:  so sorry to hear about your friend econ nerd; Get better soon. Remember to keep drinking lots! Ok...Off to do my workout now. Have a great day! Diva 09-15-2009, 02:20 PM Thanks Nixmom, Retired, Practice, Gator, Nella, and Newshiny for the thoughts & prayers. keep'em coming. It';s driving me crazy that I can't get a hold of anyone up there today. :( Practice, thanks for the Pat on the back for my sweetie. he's sure gonna need it. he's about to be 38 Thursday and he's been smoking since her was 15. :( Retired, I am so sorry about your Friend. Econ Nerd, I hope the tummy feels better soon. inklestinkle, I hope you and the fam feel better soon too. Gator & New Shiny, have fun @ the GYM girl.s :) Nella, sorry you feel like the odd woman out. That's never a good feeling. Focusing on yourself is a really good idea. I hope the situation gets better. I kind of feel like that with FH's family. They never really make me feel included in anything much less this latest situation. I can't get anyone on the dang phone. :( You'd think almost 8 yrs together it wouldn't be like this... I just got home from the GYM, and worked out through my cramps. So far so good, they aren't too bad yet. Oh yeah, TOM is upon me. *sigh* Sux being a girl sometimes.... Trying my best to stay OP and not Stress eat. I'm excited about the New season of TBL tonight, although so far all the commercials make it look like it's gonna be a cry fest. I think for my BL Challenge tonight. I'll so some sit-ups, squats, and dumb-bell curls during the commercials. What about you all????:D Narnia99 09-15-2009, 03:05 PM It looks like everyone is doing great with their diet and exercise. Way to go! :woohoo: I woke up this morning with a sore throat, but I am determined to stay on plan. So, I will be doing my step workout in a few minutes. My challenge today is not to comfort eat, as I am such a baby when I don't feel well. retire, I am so sorry about your friend  Diva, sending prayers your way. I hope you are able to get a hold of someone soon. That must be very frustrating! 's for everyone who is sick. I hope you are all feeling better soon! Idealmuse - An ironman!! That is awesome! Amy - I hope your daughter is feeling better. skinnyjeans - 18 miles on the bike is great! Bev - hope your knees feel better today. awlwe74 - what is the ideal protein diet? Nixmom - good for you for passing up the ice cream cake! Dream - that sucks about your dvd. Hope you can fix it. Nella - sorry that you are having a stressful time with your step daughters. I hope the situatioin improves soon. to everyone I missed. Have a wonderful day :) paisleyprincess 09-15-2009, 03:08 PM :cheer3: GO BLUE TEAM! :cheer3: I forgot this challenge started yesterday. I have been off plan for a while now so I hope I can get back on track. Diva~ Awesome working out during TOM! I usually do something light during that week and have healthy snacks made up and ready to eat. I can't wait for TBL tonight! I've only seen one preview for it so I'm not sure whats going to happen this season. I hope it's better than the last! During commercials I was going to do push-ups, crunches and squats. I might throw in some dumbell work, too. SkinnyJeansInWaiting 09-15-2009, 03:15 PM :hug: First, a big hug to everyone dealing with the death, illness, injuries, abcessed teeth, knee pains and TOM misery :hug: I look forward to hearing better news from you as the bad times always move out of the way for good times. Congrats. 78 mins is awesome. I'll be spending a lot of time on the indoor bike this winter too (either trainer or spin bike) My backside isn't going to be too happy for some reason riding indoors is always harder. I have a recumbent bike which isn't very strenuous unless I do intervals, go at a faster speed, or stay on there for a long time. So, it is sitting in front of my TV and I do it everytime I watch a show! My knees hurt when I do an upright bike for some reason. I am doing the Ideal Protein diet. What's that? Never heard of it before. I'm a little slow on the uptake when it comes to exercise. There I was sitting reading a book while my daughter was at her 2 hour gymnastic practice... and what do you suppose I was sitting next to?? A track. sounds like something I would do! I wish my daughter's gym had a track...we just have to sit in a crowded waiting room or pick them up later, and we live too far to drive back and forth  [B]I think for my BL Challenge tonight. I'll so some sit-ups, squats, and dumb-bell curls during the commercials. What about you all????:D I'm going to ride my bike for part of it and then get out my big file of strength workouts I ripped from magazines and pick a couple to do. The last minute workout at home is an awesome idea! econ nerd 09-15-2009, 03:30 PM Econ-Are you doing it for distance or time? I figure that I will have to slow down to be able to do the longer runs, and I can speed back up once done with the program. I'm going for time for now. Once I get to the end of the program I will build up my speed and distance. I think for my BL Challenge tonight. I'll so some sit-ups, squats, and dumb-bell curls during the commercials. What about you all????:D I think I will locate my step platform and spend some time on that during commercials. Thanks for the hugs. The belly has ssettled down some - only gurgles now and no speedy running to the potty! I had a bowl of chicken soup for lunch and am making sure I get lots of water in. Maybe I'll make myself a pot of peppermint tea. to everyone needing them today. Let's all keep strong and come out on top this week! GO BLUE!!!!!!!! Bev 09-15-2009, 03:38 PM Hello everyone, my knees are doing much better today. Today I did the firm fat blasting cardio. It was an ok workout. I have a torn cartlidge in my knee so my workout depends on how I am feeling. I am hoping that I can watch the show tonight. I have to pick my daughter up at school sometime between 8-9:30. So it will be a late night at my house gatorgirl6 09-15-2009, 04:32 PM Woo hoo! Just did my 70 min! Even I didn't believe that I would do it, but I did!! Yay! Bigmid 09-15-2009, 04:32 PM Diva - sending healing vibes now and I hope you get hold of someone soon Retire- so sorry for the loss of your friend Econ Nerd and inklestinkle- hope you feel better soon Nella- probably a good idea to just focus on you first. Everyone way to go on all of your accomplishments I have been staying OP and getting in my exercise most days I finally saw the scale move on Sunday so looking forward to the weigh in on the 21st. I just hope it stays down and moves more in that direction. I will look to see what else everyone will be doing during the commercials but I don't know if I'll get to watch it or if I have to PVR it. retiredone 09-15-2009, 05:08 PM Thank you for all your kind condolences on the death of my friend. Tonight I'm going to ride my bike during TBL if I have enough energy. I walked for 50 minutes today and then stacked firewood for another hour. That was this morning so I'm hoping I don't stiffen up by then from the wood stacking. ldkell2 09-15-2009, 05:29 PM I am so excited about the challenge and having other people for motivation. I didn't get a chance to exercise yesterday. My 10 month old woke up with a really bad cold so I had to give him some mommy loving. I plan to get on my ellipitical today while I watch the Biggest Loser. I'm going to be trying this new exercise I read about called NIA. Has anyone done it before? Wish me luck Idealmuse 09-15-2009, 06:28 PM Biggest loser tonight? Ah I already spent 2 hours on the treadmill today, but I think I'll set up my step in front of the TV and do half hour of just stepping up and down while I watch. Nella 09-15-2009, 07:42 PM Idealmuse - I wish I had that enthusiasm to exercise! I'm waiting for my DH to come home then going for a jog for some "me, myself and I" time. I'll have to jog more than usual to make it back before dark - It's like forced motivation, lol. Looking forward to watching the show tonight! Narnia99 09-15-2009, 08:28 PM Woo hoo! Just did my 70 min! Even I didn't believe that I would do it, but I did!! Yay! :cheer2: Way to go :cheer2: Today I did a step workout and some floor exercises for my legs. I have a cold so it wasn't the best workout, but I am glad that I pushed through and completed it. So far no comfort eating either! Looking forward to TBL tonight. Diva 09-15-2009, 09:11 PM Quick update on Jesse's Mom. He actually got to talk to her tonight. :) She didn't sound good and he busted out crying once he hung up, but at least she CAN talk now. She is having trouble remembering what words she wants to use and didn't sound good, but I am sure they have her doped up. They "think" her blockages she had in her neck moved and caused a Stroke, but they don't know for sure yet. that's all we know. Jesse's sister isn't being very nice...but that's a whole other issue.... Anyhoo, I'm excited about TBL...I made the Show discussion "SPOILER" Thread HERE! (http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/biggest-loser-winning-losing/181859-tbl-season-8-show-discussion-thread-spoilers.html) borntobefine 09-15-2009, 09:53 PM Gatorgirl16 - I am a UF alum - Go Gators!! I am doing C25K also but spent last 2 weeks in bed after a bad spinal tap. Getting back to running tonigh and restarting week 6. Iwanawurkit 09-15-2009, 11:28 PM Hey all the newbies!!!!! Hope you all are having a great week so far and the rest of the week is just as great! It is a little intimidating when you first join one of these things because there is relationships already established and sometimes you may feel overlooked....you are supported in so many ways. I am not really good at all the quotes and shout outs but the thoughts are there. practiceliving 09-15-2009, 11:33 PM Hi all - just home from the gym, sitting here all sweaty while I wait for someone to come and pick up some furniture I'm selling. Hope I have time to hop in the shower before BL is on. I will NOT be participating in any challenges during the commercials tonight - I feel like a wet noodle from my session with my trainer tonight. :dizzy: Hope everyone who is feeling sick :barf: is taking care of themselves and on the mend soon! Don't forget lots of liquids! gatorgirl6 09-15-2009, 11:39 PM Borntobe- Wow. Week 6! I am having trouble getting past week 5 (its my second week on week 5). I can't seem to be able to do w5d3. I am going to give it a shot tomorrow. Slow down the speed a little and maybe Ill be able to do it. I think this trouble is due to me breaking my ankle earlier this year. It was a severe break that I still have difficulty with. Also, there was a lot of muscle loss due to it. amouse 09-15-2009, 11:41 PM Diva im sorry the new wasn't better about dh's mum.. that is terrible... i hope they can help her.. Muse i love watching tbl and using the elliptical... but tbl isnt on here yet... :( they only show it once a year here and dont us your version.. so i have to wait and the elliptical doesn't speak to me at all ... atm .. the weather is too good we had a long cold winter and now the sun is out i'd rather be pounding the pavement with my little man...( kid and hubby freee... just my little 4 legged buddy and the radio.) .. plus whenever i get on the elliptical... hubby or the kids bug me i end up angry and yelling at them... I like to be left alone when im in my zone!!!.. lol Im feeling pretty good about seeing a loss this week depite the birthday celebration on monday and complete lack of exercise.. i think my week has more then made up for it. already done my 90 minutes for today .. but hoping for a decent kid free walk later.. since my 60 minute walk today was dragging a 5 year old with pnuemonia.... not fast at all but she wwanted to go to the park .. so who am i to agrue.. fresh air did her some good.. she is not coughing as much now. i also got in 30 minutes of aerobics b4 the monsters got up this morning so.. im good whether i do more or not. yesterday i did 120 minutes walk and 60 minutes of laps in the pool .. .. that first weigh in is creeping ever closer...... good luck everyone.. Twilightwing 09-16-2009, 02:21 AM hello ev1:) just finished watching the biggest loser. it's amazing how fast two hours fly by. seemed like i just turned it on, and it was going over. did well on my food today i think.. well, not as bad as it could have been. had a lean meat sandwich at noon, and a couple fish tenders and 4 tater tots for dinner lol.. had to eat soft cause of these stupid teeth i am getting pulled tomoz. i havnt had any soda in 5 days.. 5 WHOLE days.. that is definately a first for me. i have been drinking iced tea. i did put some sugar in it, but only 1/4 cup for a gallon of tea. if i give up sugar completely i get hypoglycemic. i have been wanting to get on the scale all day long, but have been able to resist.. barely lol.. im trying to wait till sunday am which is when ill be weighing in each week to make sure i dont miss the deadline. i hope everyone is doing well.. sorry i havnt been too good with the personals this week.. two abcessed teeth and levequin (antibiotic) havnt been real conducive to exercise or being real chatty on here lol.. but my thoughts are with everyone (on this team and the red) hoping we all lose the weight we want just that BLUE loses just a smidge more than red lol. expatter 09-16-2009, 03:24 AM Good Morning, All! I did well yesterday, even though I only did 1/2 hour of actual exercise I washed some windows and babysat a neighbor's 18 mth old -- I don't know which wore me out more. Anyway, according to my bodybugg, I burned as many calories as I did the day before when I exercised the full hour. Diet was good, too, since there isn't anything sweet in the house for me to snack on and I was really busy all day. I'm having a hard time keeping up with the individual posts because I'm still on a dial-up connection and one page takes FOREVER to load. But, my thoughts are with you all and hope we all find the strength to stick to our plans through all of the tough patches! retiredone 09-16-2009, 08:30 AM Good morning Blue Team. I rode for 45 minutes while I was watching TBL last night and then I was too tired to go any farther. I did 10k. I wasn't very energetic while I was riding or I'd have gone a bit farther. I sat down to watch the remainder of the show and fell asleep and woke up during the elimination. Oh, well...I'll catch up on what happened next week or read the spoiler thread. I've had my walk for the morning and did 5k-58 minutes. Now I'm starting to get ready to bake bread and a blueberry cake for DH. Lot's of stuff going on today so I've got to get off the computer and get cracking. Have a great on plan day my little Blue Berries. maryshady 09-16-2009, 08:32 AM Had a great day yesterday. Got in two sessions of working out. Did a 45 min walk then 30 mins on the treadmill will watching BL. Really enjoyed the show last night. Those two hours do fly by. Food was good at 1400 cals. Marianne-Way to go with your trainer!!! Work it girl! paisleyprincess 09-16-2009, 08:42 AM Good morning everyone! I haven't watched TBL yet. It's on the DVR and I will watch it this afternoon with my son. Hopefully I can get back into the groove of things today with food and exercise. amouse~You can watch clips on hulu.com and youtube and nbc will have the episode posted soon. I hope everyone has a great day! GirlyGirlSebas 09-16-2009, 08:50 AM Good morning, Bluesers.:coffee: My bum is dragging the floor today. I need to get more sleep! I ran across some old pictures last evening. They were from 8 years ago. I was 85 pounds lighter and looked good. I've found my motivation. I want to look like and feel like that again. Retiredone - How in the world do you bake bread and cake and still stay on-plan? Wow! You are one tough lady. I haven't watched BL yet. I had to watch the 2 hour season finale of Big Brother and DVR'd BL. I'm looking forward to watching the show tonight. It always pumps me up! Have a great on-plan day. :cheer3::cheer3::cheer3: econ nerd 09-16-2009, 09:09 AM Good morning blue-gang! Hope everyone is doing well. My belly is still off... I went home early yesterday and vegged out. Tummy felt better and is now funky again... Lots of water and plain food. I got a walk in yesterday afternoon and have already done the C25K run this morning (W5D2). TBL was good last night - it has me even more motivated!! Back to work I go now... after another potty break... UniquelyNormal 09-16-2009, 09:20 AM Good morning! THIS is why I wish we got TV reception. :lol I miss shows like TBL. But the payoffs of not watching TV everyday are worth it in the end. Tonight is another gymnastics night for DD (she's 6) but this time I'm wearing my gym shoes so I don't have to stare at the track. AND I was prepared this morning for a day on the go so packed a healthy lunch, snack & dinner. GO ME! :) :) gatorgirl6 09-16-2009, 09:21 AM Well, I am up early before a day of classes, gym, and homework. I have an analytical chemistry test tomorrow. I am going to try to do w5d3 of c25k today. I don't think Ill be able to do it, but Ill give it a shot. Last night was the first time I have watched tbl. It was a pretty good show. Are they always 2 hrs? Also, I (and my abs) decided there were too many commercials. lol. I did ab exercises during the commercials. Well, watching the show inspired me to finally get a personal trainer. I don't really want to part with the money, but I think it is a good investment. I am going to sign up today. Hope everyone has a great day! Off to class... Twilightwing 09-16-2009, 09:29 AM well, it's 5 22am, and i'm sitting here with a stomach ache cause i have to be at the dentist at 8am for teeth removal lol... i am soooo phobic about dentist. i think cause when i was a kid my sister had horrible teeth and i saw her come home time and time again in pain. i never had a cavity till 25 and then i got steroidal cavities from predisone i had to take in my early 20s for asthma. now they have rotted from the inside out.. yeah lol. of course it couldnt have anything to do with the 2-4 liters of soda i have ingested per day for about 10 years or so lol. prob wont do great with the food or exercise today. if i eat anything it will prob be tonight and then only be soup. im a smoker and since i wont be able to smoke today (dont want dry socket) ill prob sleep most of the day so i dont have a nic fit lol. i hope all of you are having a good day.. no dentists, drs, etc lol.. Nella 09-16-2009, 10:42 AM Good job to all for working out on commercial breaks! I was cooking and cleaning on breaks, but next week, it's on! Gator - I had a personal trainer when I was in college, I loved it! If I could afford it, I would have one again in a heartbeat! The added motivation is that it is an appointment and you are paying a lot for it, so you better show up! My food was low yesterday. I had a stressful day and wasn't in the mood to eat. But I was over for the weekend, so it will all balance out. On a happy note, I've broken my mini-plateau and the scale is going down again. practiceliving 09-16-2009, 11:30 AM Good morning everyone! Today is going to be a busy day for me - leaving for work shortly, then heading straight from work to two meetings. Good thing I have a plan for the day - breakfast is cooking, lunch is almost packed, and I'll pick up some sushi in between work and my meeting. Saw this quote and thought it would be a good one for the team, so here is your Quote of the Day! "It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or ****." Buddha Have a happy Wednesday! eusebius 09-16-2009, 02:38 PM Hi everyone, Sorry I haven't been around contributing to the team thread - I do intend to do that regularly. I had a bit of a rough time last week staying on track, but am back in the groove to start the challenge. Today is my third day OP in a row with eating and exercise. practiceliving - I love your Quote of the Day! Also good for you for starting a new blog ... I will keep checking it. I have a brother in White Rock, BC so I am fortunate to get out to your part of the world at times ... I <3 Vancouver! Back to practising for me (I play piano for a living!) cheers Erika retiredone 09-16-2009, 03:23 PM Hello Blue Team, I've got my bread and blueberry cakes made. GirlyGirl, I'm not that tough.;) I eat bread but I cut it really, really thin and weigh it so I don't eat the whole loaf. The cake was cut up and put in the freezer. I left out a couple of pieces for DH and the rest was put away. I'll take out a few more pieces when DH eats what is there. I could pig out on bread and cake. I'm on a No Dessert challenge in the 50+ forum so I can't even have a small piece until the weekend when I've allowed myself one real dessert. Twilightwing, hope your dentist appointment went better than you hoped. Catch you all later. Echo 09-16-2009, 03:41 PM Saw this quote and thought it would be a good one for the team, so here is your Quote of the Day! practiceliving that is an AMAZING quote! i love it!!! and something that i was thinking of earlier on today about something. perfect. thanks for sharing. hey blue team. got my period properly today. been on and off for ages. had cramps earlier on today and was worried i wouldnt get in my exercise. but after taking some neurophren jumped in me bike. feel so much better now! i've never really exercised during my periods, always felt sluggish and bloated and tired. i love the biggest loser challenge! and the accontability really motivates me :-) gatorgirl6 09-16-2009, 04:42 PM Well, today I signed up for personal training and had a full body assessment. I have had one before. They measure body fat and analyze everything about you. I hated it last time I had it done. I was super uncomfortable. This time was totally different! I only had 29% body fat, and was told that was in the healthy average range. Last time I was in the overweight range. Also, I know I said I wasnt going to weigh until friday, but they weighed me at the assessment. 171.6! Thats down from 175 on Monday. I guess the water weight has decided to take up residence elsewhere. Hope everyone's having a great day wendyland 09-16-2009, 09:23 PM I watched BL last night, but didn't exercise yesterday. I wasn't feeling well. The show was good. I was crying in the first 1/2 hour. I jumped on a trampoline today and played golf. I'm exhausted. Oh, and I dropped my cell phone in a pool. Argh! Iwanawurkit 09-16-2009, 09:34 PM Wow......the show was great last night and really got me to think......I am doing this! I love the accountability and support from the challenges! SweetScrumptious 09-16-2009, 09:40 PM The show last night was good! I got in my bikram yoga before watching it :) Now it's off to the gym tonight to lift some weights! Naia 09-16-2009, 10:18 PM Hi everyone! I'm getting a late start on the challenge, but for a good reason. My youngest sister just had her first baby!!:cp: It's been fun, but with all the family in town and the baby to be taken care of... way too much order in food and no exercise! I totally needed this challenge to get a hold of myself. Pre-babyniece, I was in emotional-eating-binge mode (break-up, general life issues, you know the drill), and gained back all the weight I lost on the last challenge! :o Now that I'm positively positive I WILL NOT start back up in the broken relationship, I can finally devote that time to me, instead. I am doing C25K also but spent last 2 weeks in bed after a bad spinal tap. Getting back to running tonigh and restarting week 6. I haven't caught up on on the posts yet, but wanted to ask... what did you have your spinal tap for? Did the after headache keep you in bed, or did they hit something? I've had so many taps now, I can't even count (pseudo-tumor cerebri). Some I'm okay within a few days, others are killers!! Sounds like yours was really bad. :( Hope you're feeling better, and congrats on the C25K. I'm starting that too... but I'm just on week 1 :) :cheer3: go blue! alwe74 09-17-2009, 12:12 AM Well I just finished w2d2 of the C25K. So far each week has gotten easier and not harder. Hopefully it will stay that way. awlwe74 - what is the ideal protein diet? It's a low carb, meal replacement plan that I am doing through my chiropractor's office. amouse 09-17-2009, 03:46 AM another good day for me today 50 minutes of aqua 90 minutes of lasp.... and hubby is taking me out to dinner... :) bonus LeslieB 09-17-2009, 04:23 AM Howdy fellow teammates !! Had a great day today. Started out with a morning water aerobics class then went with a couple of friends to the fair. We walked around for about 4 hours then went to a concert. It used to be I would have been dead tired after walking around but tonight I was able to dance and sing through the whole concert and had energy to spare. Also was able to pass up all the fair food. Managed to find some healthy food for dinner there.... I was pleasantly surprised. Hope you are all having a great day/evening ! Leslie paisleyprincess 09-17-2009, 08:23 AM Good Morning Everyone! I had a really good day yesterday! I didn't eat anything off plan and I got in some exercise! I feel like I'm back on track now. Today is grocery shopping day, so I should have plenty of healthy snacks to keep me on plan the rest of the week. Have a wonderful day! :) :cheer3:GO BLUE TEAM!!!:cheer3: Diva 09-17-2009, 10:27 AM Good Morning Teamies! It was a rough day yesterday with cramps and what-not. I thought I was WAY off plan but when I plugged it all into The Daily Plate this morning, I was only about 250 calories above plan and my carbs was pretty good so I guess that's okay right? LOL! No exercise. I basically laid around and was a cry-baby. Ok seriously, an AT & T commercial made me cry. WTH?! Anyhoo, It's my man's Bday today. He's 38! I gotta go get his cake in a few. I hope his B-day hazing at work isn't too bad. He says they only do it to ppl they like and he got a mini one yesterday. They tape you up and throw you in a chair with wheels and wheel all over the Plant and ppll spank him and what-not. :dizzy: Grown men mind you... His Mom DID have a stroke due to those blockages, and his Dad is going to get to the bottom of why in the heck they have not done the surgery that is scheduled for next Tuesday NOW! I mean, they aren't seriously going to send her home with the chance that it could happen again and possibly kill her?! WTH is wrong with out Health-care system? It seriously needs some help! Anyways, I didn't sleep well last night. I prolly got 3 1/2 hours so I may skip exercise again today as I don't wanna hurt myself, lol! Maybe I can get a nap in and exercise later, I dunno. We'll see what the day holds. Have a great day everyone. Nixmom 09-17-2009, 10:37 AM Morning blues! No time to read posts (and Lord knows I got alot of that to catch up on). Just popped in to say have an OP day and drink your water! I'll be back later to catch up! Echo 09-17-2009, 10:49 AM Good Morning Teamies! Have a great day everyone. lol i can totally relate! i had cramps yesterday aswell, and was so so so emotional! and i was crying for abit for no reason!! . had cramps again this morning, but took neurphren. feeling better now though. sorry to hear about your partners mom :( practiceliving 09-17-2009, 11:15 AM Good morning Bluesers! Yesterday's plan mostly went well, although I snacked more than I wanted at my 2nd evening meeting. Had a good night though - got 14 girls signed up for my Brownie group! Thursday means another session with my trainer; I'm feeling very sore from Tuesday's session, so hoping things will continue to loosen up as the day goes on. Here's another Quote of the Day for you all: "Discipline is remembering what you want." - David Campbell Have a great Thursday! Nella 09-17-2009, 12:27 PM Good morning Blue Team! Diva - I'm so sorry about BF's mom. Sometimes the healthcare system can be so stupid. My co-workers mother fell a few weeks ago and broke the ball of her arm bone off (ouch!) in her shoulder and was all messed up, and they were trying to put off her surgery for a week! They sent her home with a sling and the woman's bones were smashed! UGH - medical systems are the pits. Well, my BIL made a surprise visit with his girlfriend yesterday, so we met them out for dinner and I didn't have time for exercise by the time we got home and helped with Algebra homework (yuck!) :( We're in for rain here for the next 5 days, so inside activities for this chickie. I have some new videos (Ballet and Hula dancing) to try out and I have been slack on doing weight training stuff, so I will work on that. Hoping to stay on plan today again. Anyone have any good snacks that are filling and low cal? I've been eating carrots like they are going out of style and they don't fill me up in between meals. I've tried almonds, reduced fat cheese, and yogurt too. I've just been so ravenously hungry lately, to the point that I am embarrassed by it. Have a great day girls! Idealmuse 09-17-2009, 03:31 PM Diva im sorry the new wasn't better about dh's mum.. that is terrible... i hope they can help her.. Muse i love watching tbl and using the elliptical... but tbl isnt on here yet... :( they only show it once a year here and dont us your version.. so i have to wait and the elliptical doesn't speak to me at all .\ good luck everyone.. amouse awesome job on the exercise BTW. It's a shame they don't show the US version there. I LOVE the aussie version I've watched them all on UTube... when does the next aussie season begin? You might be able to find the US version on the web somewhere. Echo 09-17-2009, 05:49 PM today i made fake mashed potatoes with cauliflower! my dad didnt even realise! he thoughts they were real mashed potatos. and i have to admit, they tasted pretty damn good!! i was impressed :-) if i dont say so myself hehehe. i saw it on the biggest loser, Jillian suggested it , during the trainer tips. it was fun making it i added my own little ideas to it to make it tasty. if anyone is interested here is my recipe: recipe: i cauliflower head, cut up into florets, removing majority of the white stalks. steam in a steamer for 40 minutes, until a fork easily goes through them, but dont over cook them at the same time, saute some onions until brown in olive oil and add some balsamic vinegar, and continue cooking for a little abit longer. remove from steamer, add 1 teaspoon of salt. black pepper to taste, just under 1 teaspoon of garlic paste. parsley, thyme and a tiny bit of itallian herbs. a little bit of butter, and milk and the onions. and put it all in a food processer. and voila. disclaimer, make at your own risk and adjust cooking time and herbs/garlic/seasoning to your taste. if it doesnt come out well. please dont come after me ! hehehe  __________________ Twilightwing 09-17-2009, 06:15 PM i am sooo ignorant..... had my teeth pulled yesterday am. and i thought i would be a little tender, but by today i would be right as rain.. boy was i wrong. first off it was two molars. secondly one molor has three roots that grew in diff directions, so he had to cut the tooth into three parts then pull them out individually. i now have stitches, my face feels like someone punched me, i have had nothing to eat in two days cept chicken noodle soup and diet pudding, and exercise prob wont happen for at least a few more days. i hope everyone is doing well and brushing and flossing lol. Echo 09-17-2009, 06:44 PM i am sooo ignorant..... had my teeth pulled yesterday am. and i thought i would be a little tender, but by today i would be right as rain.. boy was i wrong. first off it was two molars. secondly one molor has three roots that grew in diff directions, so he had to cut the tooth into three parts then pull them out individually. i now have stitches, my face feels like someone punched me, i have had nothing to eat in two days cept chicken noodle soup and diet pudding, and exercise prob wont happen for at least a few more days. i hope everyone is doing well and brushing and flossing lol. ouch you poor thing :( definately rest and take it easy. i dont think you're meant to exercise when you've had your teeth pulled out. hope you feel better. :hugh: Narnia99 09-17-2009, 08:15 PM Hi everyone, I still have this cold but I am pushing through it and staying on track with my diet and exercise. Echo, I have wanted to try that recipe before but for some reason I never get around to it. I am going to make a point of making it next week though! Twilightwing, ouch! Had a great day today an everything was balanced and in harmony. I had enough cal, fat and protein and light on the carbs again but I feel better with the level of carbs I have been getting. LeslieB 09-18-2009, 12:34 AM Howdy team ! Hope everyone had/is having a great day. My day was really great. Managed to wear the dogs out at the dog park and walked to my water aerobics class tonight. Eating was right on target as well. Have a great Friday !! Leslie dream710 09-18-2009, 12:47 AM Ok is third time the charm? This will be my third attempt at posting. Hugs to all those going through rough times Hi fives to those who are staying on plan this first week of the challenge Anybody else watch last years Greys season finale? I balled my eyes out again, even though I knew what was gonna happen. Can't wait til next weeks opener, I'll be sitting in the recliner with my box of tissues. I've had a hectic week. Had to find alternate daycare, sitter and her hubby have H1N1. Got a flat, found out we have fleas in the house, employer took away our sick days, DD is complaining of sore throat and stomach ache, and DS is crying uncontrollably...I've been trying to make reasonable choices eating wise (Stress eater). Exercise hasn't been as good as I would like but I'm ready to come on strong at the end of the week. Ok I'm off to exercise, wash bottles and put flea powder on the carpet. Everyone have a great night Keep up the hardwork Blue! amouse 09-18-2009, 01:09 AM I am very pleased well i have good news... first of all its weigh in day and im down 3.3 pounds for the first extra long week.. lol and more importanly ive lost some 6 cm of my trouble zone(hips).. 2 cm from my bust 1 cm from my waist and 1 from my waist.. and i went bather shopping....... guess who bought a 16????? i bathers???? ..... wooohoooo.... also went jeans shopping ang got 2 pairs that are lovely so very pleased with myself indeed. retiredone 09-18-2009, 01:13 AM Twilightwing, so sorry your trip to the dentist was so traumatic. I have a scar from gum stitches so I know exactly what you mean about an itchy gum. The dentist told me to hold a bag of frozen peas (wrapped in a towel) against my face to help with the swelling. Dream, I hope everything settles down in your neck of the woods. That would do just about anyone in but you've got a great attitude. I didn't get in any formal exercise today but I walked, and walked through the grocery stores and mall for about 4 1/2 hours today so I counted that as an hour of brisk walking. Tomorrow is my Last Chance workout before my weigh in on Saturday morning. I don't even know how I'm going to squeeze in any exercise tomorrow because I'm involved in the funeral of my good friend and I've got a ton of things to do. Maybe I'll get in an early evening walk.:running: Twilightwing 09-18-2009, 02:23 AM retiredone- i tried the frozen veg bag against my face, but the pain seems to get worse with the cold for me. oh well, im always odd lol going to take a darvocet and go nighty night. hopefully ill wake up pain free and rarin to go :) expatter 09-18-2009, 02:44 AM Yay, waiting patiently for our Internet guy to come and fix our DSL connection. With any luck, this will be the last dial-up post for me! I did JM NMTZ yesterday, then had to tend to my DH who had a lot going on at work yesterday, so hadn't slept at all the night before. Then, having left work early because he was too tired to function, got stuck on a faulty train and sat on the tracks for an hour. Not a happy camper when he got home! He wanted Kraft dinner, which we had, but I made sure to give him most of it and only ate about 1/2 C myself. Other than that, yesterday was a good food day and here's hoping today will be even better! maryshady 09-18-2009, 08:14 AM Woke up early and got my workout in before work. That always feels really good. Had a little melt down last night. After I posted in my food log I went and ate junk food. So pissed at myself. I just don't get it I really want to lose weight but I continue to sabotage myself with my eating. Working out has never been my problem it has always been the food. I wish I had some great insight into this but I don't. I know all the cliques...talk yourself out of it or do something else, etc. Which is all great advice but I don't use it. Well enough of my pity party. Happy Friday!! paisleyprincess 09-18-2009, 08:29 AM Good Morning Everyone! I hope everyone slept well. I had a very busy day yesterday but I still ate well and exercised. amouse~ CONGRATULATIONS on your weight loss, inches and the size 16!!! maryshady~ I hope today is better for you! :cheer3: GO BLUE TEAM!!! :cheer3: Echo 09-18-2009, 08:59 AM amouse :bravo: :congrat: that's fantastic!! good for you! :cheer3: -- so blue team, first weigh in coming up in a few days. how is everyone feeling ? WOO HOOO :carrot: I've had a hectic week. Had to find alternate daycare, sitter and her hubby have H1N1. Got a flat.... It's been insane like that for me as well  hang in there, brighter days have to be coming for us! Woke up early and got my workout in before work. That always feels really good. Had a little melt down last night. After I posted in my food log I went and ate junk food. So pissed at myself. I just don't get it I really want to lose weight but I continue to sabotage myself with my eating. I have this problem as well and I have done a lot of journaling and emotional thinking and have realized there are reasons I have done this to my body, reasons some part of me still wants to be fat, or thinks I need to be fat for very deep, deep reasons. As i deal with those issues it is painful, but the sabotaging is starting to become less frequent. it is difficult to do, but you will get there. dream710 09-18-2009, 09:07 AM Mornin all! Nothing like getting up at 6 to vacuum the floor, but I guess at least all the powder is cleaned up for when J gets up. Hopefully we will be rid of those pesky lil pests! Paisley-great job on op day yesterday, I'm sure you'll do it again. Mary-way to get your exercise in this morning. I'm the same when it comes to eating and exercise. I can exercise its just the eating that gets me, it's just so frustruating. Maybe we can keep each other accountable. expatter-Congrats on getting DSL Retire-hope all goes well for you on your busy day. amouse-3lbs thats AWESOME and a size 16, great job. It feels good buy a smaller size doesn't it. Better get the lil one up so we can take sis to school. Everyone have a POP! Nella 09-18-2009, 10:14 AM Good morning ladies!! I hope everyone is well today (or on the mend). It's Friday, and all I can say is *happy dance* oooh, that's a good idea, maybe I'll do some dancing tonight for part of my workout! So my official weigh in day is Monday, but the scale said 178.8 this morning!!! I was 183.4 on Monday, so you can imagine my jaw about hit the floor. I rushed back in the bedroom and jumped on the bed to wake DH and tell him :) As long as it sticks through the weekend, I will be so happy to finally say "peace out" to the 180's. It's been since my wedding 3 years ago that I was in the 170's. The funny thing is I haven't done anything special this week to drop that much. I only had 2 workouts and my eating has averaged out to be OP. The only thing I can think of, is I haven't had near as much sodium. So maybe my body finally let go of some of that extra water weight. Anyway, I am really happy this morning, and wanted to share. I hope everyone has a lovely, OP day!!! Diva 09-18-2009, 10:22 AM Anybody else watch last years Greys season finale? I CAN fix this....:dizzy: practiceliving 09-18-2009, 11:25 AM Gooood morning Blue Team! Happy Friday! After a wicked session with my trainer on Tuesday, last night's session was way better - challenging but not brutal! :D Plan is to hit the gym for at least 30 mins cardio today, tomorrow, and Sunday; any extra cardio or weights is a bonus. Bev 09-18-2009, 02:12 PM Hello everyone, congrats to everyone who are losing weigt. My scale is showing the opposite, which is really making me mad. Hopefully it will be down by Monday. Idealmuse 09-18-2009, 02:15 PM Hi girls - I have kinda a cool non-scale victory. Today I tightened up the band on my bodybugg (It's soft elastic) and realized that there is really only about 1 inch of room left for me to snug it up, so I'm going to definately have to order a smaller one shortly. I think they send it out with a "large" one so I guess I'll get a medium. This is pretty cool because I always have really heavy arms which make me look heavier then I am. Woot! Bigmid 09-18-2009, 04:08 PM Just a quick note to say hi to everyone and hope your day is a good one. For everyone having troubles or are not well - healing vibes coming your way For everyone with losses - Big congratulations to all of you I have been OP and exercising but I feel like I have gained, but won't know til my Sunday weigh in. I hope it is just all in my head as I have been really good. Heres to keeping my fingers crossed. Iwanawurkit 09-18-2009, 06:56 PM Hey Blusers! I have had a heck of a day starting at 4:00 am when I received a call that my Uncle had another stroke and was being taken to the hospital. No exercise but I fought all day to stay OP with the eating. I did walk all over the place though....sigh Newshinyme 09-18-2009, 07:33 PM Hey everyone! Sorry I've been MIA for a couple of days. Been busy packing and preparing to move. Eating has been OP and the exercise is coming along, I won't be able to take a bread during the weekend to make my goal for the week but that's OK. Big  to all of you still sick and/or in pain and a :cheer: for everyone else. I've done TBL in the past...not for a couple seasons now though. I've gained about 40lbs since June of 2008 and have made up my mind to get my butt back on track! This place always helped me stay on track so I thought I would just pop in to say hi to all my old peeps:) I know I'm too late to sign up for the challange, but if ya'll don't mind I think I may just hop in for the chit-chat with you guys and the support I always get from this site. I've had a moment this morning where I realized I'm halfway back to gaining all the weight I lost. I don't want to go back to that place. I swore I never would and can't believe I've let myself slip this far. It's eye opening and has taught me this is gonna be a life long battle I deal with and something I'm gonna have to figure out. I now know this is going to have to be a life style change not just something I do to lose weight for the next big event. I'm ready to get back into shape though and looking forward to following your guys progress:) Diva- Hey girl how the heck are ya? I've missed you so much! This is the longest I've been sick. Even though I couldn't exercise, I weighed in with a 4lb loss. So that's a silver lining, I guess. I've already made some chicken breasts and veggies for dinner for the next couple of days. And I've only been drinking water so I'm off to a decent start. I can't freakin' wait!!!!!:dizzy: practiceliving 09-19-2009, 12:15 PM Okay super busy day today - just ate a small bowl of cereal, and then I'm off to the gym in a bit. Hair appt later this morning, then errands before going out for a friend's birthday. Here's a quote for the weekend for you all: “Happiness is a conscious choice, not an automatic response.” – Mildred Barthel Tina - wow, long time, no "see"! Please do hang out with us and chat - you know the accountability (and the FUN) that these groups can provide. Have a great weekend everyone! GirlyGirlSebas 09-19-2009, 01:54 PM Hiya, Bluesers! Tina and Selina.....so good to see some familiar faces. Elise - glad to hear that you're starting to recover. Iwana - how is your uncle? I hate to be a downer, but I've not yet gotten my head back into losing this weight and exercising. I'm wearing my "fat" jeans again and I can't button them when I'm sitting down! (Well, I could, but I wouldn't be able to breath.) The headaches have returned and I just feel like crud. I have an appointment with my GYN on Monday to review my hormone therapy. I'm hoping we can tweak it and change some things. Either way, I must get myself back on-plan and working out. No more whining! Narnia99 09-19-2009, 03:47 PM Hi everyone, just time for a quick check-in before I take my dd to a birthday party. I am still struggling with this cold and it's moved into my chest. I took yesterday off from exercising, but today I am going to do two workouts. I have already completed my cardio/ab workout and then this afternoon I am going to do the leg workout I missed yesterday. My eating has been on plan and I am down a pound from last week. My official weigh-in isn't until Monday though. Have a wonderful day everyone! mebhealthy 09-19-2009, 05:04 PM Sorry it took me soooo long to finally post! Things just got busy and I honestly forgot. I don't get much time to myself...I have two precious little boys - 3 and 5 - and DH is out of town 4 - 5 days a week. Plus I work part-time Monday - Thursday (while my 5 yr old is at school). DH has been gone for 1 1/2 wks now, will arrive 11:30pm Mon and then out again 6:15am Tues. We can hardly wait to see him. We're hoping he'll be back before bedtime on Wed night. In the meantime I just do my best to hold everything together! :) Nowhere near as stressful as plenty of other gals, but it's plenty for me! I finally read all week zero thread posts, but it's either exercise or read week 1 posts. I'm going w/exercise. Trying to make the most of my 3yr old's naptime. I'll try to post every few days. Weigh ins will probably be Sat or Sun (or else I'll forget)...this week it will be Sun since I had pizza for lunch yesterday. Need the rest of the day and night to work it off! :) Hope you all are having a fantastic weekend! Echo 09-19-2009, 05:10 PM hey girls!! hope everyone is ready for the weigh in! my weigh is tommorow!! so today is my last chance workout! so far have done 2 workouts. gonna try to fit in one more before bed. i ordered some extra gum from the internet! yummy. cant wait for it to come. i'm so easily influenced by biggest loser lol. i did buy strawberry flavour from the store today, but doesnt taste that great. i wish we had watermelon flavour. but we dont. but i ordered other flavours from ebay instead. like tropical. which sounds delicious. i went to the grocery store today. (rode my bike there) and at the beginning, i put all these different chocolates in my basket. 2 terrys orange chocolates, 2 packets of kitkat fingers, 5pack wisba bar chocolates...and then later on, i was like. no , i'm doing the bl challenge, evne though will only have a piece of chocolate here and there as a treat, and work it into my calories. but something just clicked inside me, and i ended up putting everything back! and stuck with buying things that were on my grocery list. even though terrys chocolate was on my list. i scrapped it out! haha i did buy low fat organic peach yoghurt for dessert, so yummy!!! (Which was on my list and been craving peach yoghurt for ages) i think its all jillian's influence, all her talk about eating healthy. organic, etc etc. been listening to her podcast everyday hehe. and watching biggest loser! biggest loser show has made a huge impact on my life and being on this challenge too also it might have something to do with the fact i was shopping in my workout clothes lol. i rode my bike to the grocery store which is 1.6 miles from my house. i'm so happy to be part of this challenge! Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Nothing too exciting to report here. Watched a disappointing Huskers game at a friends house, where I ate naughty foods, but I made sure to budget it in to the weeks allowance. Tomorrow after church I'm planning a day out with kiddies. We are going to the county park, they've got a few different trails that DD can ride her bike, gonna pack a picnic and just enjoy what nature has to offer. Really looking forward to it. Hey thanks Diva for the Bob link...I signed up...I'm perty sure I would be crying like a baby if he worked me like they do on TBL...either that or I'd be drooling the whole time. Nothing hotter than a buff guy with tats! Ok well on that note I'm off to do TBL WL Yoga! expatter 09-20-2009, 05:04 AM Hi Everyone! The last two days weren't the best, but not the worst, either. I had takeout on Friday and then a big helping of my favorite dessert yesterday, but tried to fit them both into my calorie allowance. So, even if my daily nutrients weren't the best, hopefully the calories weren't too bad. I am disappointed but not surprised as there is still one issue that is stronger than my willpower -- dealing with my inlaws. My 45 BIL is living with his parents (sleeping on their couch, no less) not out of necessity but because he likes not paying rent & having his mother do his laundry, shopping, meals, etc. . . It's been 2 yrs now and has meant they travel in "a pack". I can handle 1 or 2 of them, but the three together is too much for me. Together, they are meaner, more judgmental and less apt to make an effort to sensor what they say or try to be remotely sensitive. At least my DH understands what they are like and, while he's used to dealing with it and can shrug their comments off, he gets that it isn't easy for me. Today they are having a big party at their house as part of a celebration in their village. I was getting so wound up at the thought of having to spend an entire day with all of them that I decided it was best for me not to go. But, not before the takeout on Friday and the dessert yesterday. Anyway, my DH was OK going by himself and I've been issued a reprieve -- though there will be fallout for my not going, I'm sure. I'm so grateful to my DH for his understanding, though, that it's refreshed my commitment to make good use of the time that I now have on my hands and I'm off to exercise. Sorry for venting! I know I'm not alone in this, though, and that helps. Unlike "negative energy" friends that you can choose not to interact with, all you can hope to do when they're family members is to make the best of it you can. They just got the better of me this weekend, darn it! Hope everyone has a great Sunday and is ready for the weigh-in. . . gulp! Nella 09-20-2009, 07:17 AM Expatter - Your BIL sounds a lot like my BIL and SIL. THey live off MIL. Luckily they are nice people, but it's frustrating nonethless, because they travel in packs too, lol. If MIL comes to visit, they ALL come, and our house isn't big enough for that. Good for you for taking that time to exercise, it will be better for you in the end. Echo 09-20-2009, 07:27 AM hey guys!! sorry for those that are having a rough time! great job everyone!! for pushing through :cheer3: :cheer3: -- today is my official weigh in! :goodscale: week 1 weigh in: starting weight = 168 lbs current weight = 164.2 lbs pounds lost = 3.8 lbs percentage weight loss = 2.26 % -- gonna go now and post in the official weigh in thread! wishing everyone the best for their weigh ins for tommorow! good luck Blue team!! :cheer3: dixied 09-20-2009, 11:51 AM Hey Blue team! I just wanted to let ya'll know I haven't fallen off the face of the earth. I'm working a ridiculous amount of overtime lately, and not able to log on as often as I want to. I'm claiming a NSV though. Even with all my overtime this week & last, (20+ hours of OT) I still managed to get my run in everyday!! That is what a true lifestyle change looks like. ;) Before I would have let the exercise slide first, way before my internet time. :D I have today off, so maybe I can finally read the rest of the new posts. But first I need to start some laundry, buy some groceries, and kill off some GIANT dustbunnies. Nixmom 09-20-2009, 12:26 PM Same boat as Dixied for me. Worked my normal 40+ a week and then worked our business friday and saturday. I'm exhausted, but down a few lbs for the team! So going to weigh in and will be back maybe later to catch up! GO BLUE! retiredone 09-20-2009, 12:33 PM Hi to all the Blue Team members. Yesterday was my free day. I ate 4 small desserts but kept my calories pretty good although over my usual limit. The desserts really add up. I was at a potluck so that's why there was such a variety of desserts. Echo, I've really appreciated the Exercise and Food log. I've used it everyday and it certainly helped to keep me accountable. I'm looking forward to the next week. Hope everyone has a good week. So WTG!!! :cp: Good afternoon Teamies! I have to admit I put back on some of the poundage I lost due to the B-day cake last Thursday, but I buckled down and hit the GYM hard on Fri, Sat and exercised today on my rest day, cut the carbs (which I needed to do anyways) and watched the calories and WOOHOOO! I relost it so I am good to go!!! :D Yay me!!! After a year of looking for those Steel-cut Oats I FINALLY found them today at the grocery store. (They are organic too!) Anyhoo, do you make them in the Crock pot? If I make 2 cups worth ( to eat on all week) in there, how much Splenda and Cinnamon should I also add? I was gonna add some cut up apples too. Any ideas, hints or suggestions??? LiL PiXiE 09-20-2009, 04:38 PM Thanks Diva....I'm pushing myself to feel better and I'm ready!!! Hope this week is better!!! Hoping everyone has a good week!! retiredone 09-20-2009, 04:45 PM Diva, when I make steel cut oats I find that if I soak them in water overnight they cook up in the morning much quicker. I've never used a slow cooker with them but others do. I haven't had steel cut oats in a while. Think I'll go soak a few for tomorrow. :) Idealmuse 09-20-2009, 05:30 PM Diva - I make a batch and divide it into 4 or 8 portions. I think how much extras you add is really personal taste. I've tried odd things such a coco powder too. (Was odd but interesting) Blueberries etc are good too. Well team it looks like I made it back down to 100 lost. It's a lot more anti-climatic since I made it there once before last summer, but I'm still happy about it. I've lost nearly 40lbs the last 4 months or so that I had gained back. I need to lose another 15 or so before I'm in new territory, which I'm really looking forward to. Narnia99 09-20-2009, 05:46 PM Good afternoon team :) This morning I did my weight workout and tonight I am going to try to squeeze in a cardio workout. I really think I need to do more cardio in order to see the pounds drop a little quicker. I've been on plan eating wise but I'm a little worried about the weigh-in tomorrow, as my sodium intake was high yesterday. Echo, good for you for putting back the chocolate. Great loss this week as well  Good luck on your exam! Idealmuse, way to go!! That is awesome!! Roni, I have Steel Cut Oats that I cook in the microwave and then I add a bit of skim milk and cinnamon. Adding cut up apples sounds delicious! I hope everyone who is having a rough time right now has a better week. Hang in there  mebhealthy 09-20-2009, 06:00 PM Argh!!! Trying to behave yesterday to make up for pizza on Friday...Did ok till grocery shopping last night...Cheerios snack mix is one of my pitfalls, and I've been avoiding that aisle for the past month. Sure enough, my weight was up this morning. :o Guess I'm holding off till tomorrow morning for my weigh in! Oh well! Gotta have a treat once in a while I guess. Good luck to everyone! Get that final push in today! :) amouse 09-20-2009, 06:15 PM blahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... why is it whenever im on a roll i get sick... cough cough cough sneeze. .... fine i taught my children to share by why is it they wont share there ice cream but they will thier colds??? lol .. I felt a niggle in my throat earlier in the week .. and i managed to delay the onset till now by drinking plenty and taking vitamins cs and garlic.. but it has cougt up with me becuase i stopped taking them.. lol .. oh well I had a good day yesterday walked another 12 kms.. all up since the start of the months I have walked 90 kms with Jetty.. no wonder he has been so happy.. lol and he is getting more muscley too .. and in addition to that im swimming , jamming , and aquaing my way to double digits.. :) ahhhhh feel the codral kicking in... thank good ness for modern medicine.. i have too much to do to be sick .. Twilightwing 09-20-2009, 07:29 PM i lost 3 lbs this week which im pretty happy about considering i have spent a lot of it in bed holding my cheek lol.. today im finally able to move a bit without feeling like im dying:).. im not doing too much today as i dont want to push it essentially the first day out of bed, but i did clean up my room(which sorely needed it). i feel so lazy now from not doing any exercise all week.. im going to start my walks back tomoz. a morning one and an evening one and will do more as i feel better and gain more energy. eating is going to be a challenge for me. i can no longer chew.. im in the process of getting all my teeth pulled (as i cn afford it) so as of wed i no longer have any spot left in my mouth to chew.. have teeth here and there, but without bottom or top mates to chew against lol.... so i not only have to figure out low cal, but Soft low cal lol... wish me luck... if liquid diets werent so bad for you in the long run i would just do slim fast three times a day and forget it lol.. would be loads easier:) hope youre all having a great day... Iwanawurkit 09-20-2009, 09:02 PM Okay....my uncle thinks it is 1969....... He is doing better today since they took out the incubation tube and he is able to eat solids. I will weigh in the morning so I am hoping it will be a good weigh in. Thank you for all the positive thoughts and prayers. Bigmid 09-20-2009, 09:06 PM Well here goes my first real try at personals so forgive me if I get anything wrong, it's just kind of nice to see that people read what you put and respond so here I go: Gatorgirl: how it the personal trainer? I am thinking of getting one but don't know if the price they are quoting me is good or not $59.00hr but you can by packages to make it cheaper so will see. Nixmom: Hope you don't have to keep up with the extra hours for long. Mebhealthy: I think treats are okay now and then so don't feel bad. If we could never treat ourselves again I don't think it would be realsitic for a lifestyle change. Well as for me I had weigh in this morning and the scale said -4 so that's a total of -8 for my official weigh in and I am off to post the results. I hope it sticks and goes down even further next week. Keep up the great work blue team. alwe74 09-20-2009, 10:27 PM Hi Everyone...I just finished W3D1 of C25K. My legs were burning when I got done. I hope I can keep up with this! expatter 09-21-2009, 03:07 AM Just completed my weigh-in and hadn't lost, but hadn't gained, either. DH has a really, really busy week at work that will include a few dinners out, so it'll just be me, which makes it SOOO much easier. I made some tartar sauce yesterday to encourage me to eat my fish this week. I can't do it with just lemon, so figure 1t of homemade sauce is OK. I also made some hummus to encourage me to snack on my veggies. Twilight, I can't imagine what you're going through! I had all four wisdom teeth out at once, thinking it would be easier, and the pain was almost overwhelming. Facing having them all removed, even if only one or two at a go, takes a brave woman!! I was off plan somewhat this weekend - out of town and not as easy to make good choices - but I didn't gain as much as I normally would have on a weekend away! This week I am on plan again. I did my C25K workout already and have healthy food planed for the day. Off to get some groceries on the way home from work - need to plan a menu and make a list of what I need. I am also going to be very vigilant this week in keeping a journal - I have slacked on that lately and that needs to be remedied! GO BLUE!!!!!!!! I know that I can do better.. I exercised a lot, but I have to keep my hands of the sweet cookies.. Will try better on that part this week. Diva 09-21-2009, 10:54 AM Good Morning teamies!!! Everyone is doing so well! I am proud of my team!!!!! I hope we rock the WI> I am about to go report my loss now! Quick update on the Steel oats, OMG! I LOVE them! I love the texture...go good and so filling. Here's the recipe I used. Spicy Apple. (http://blog.fatfreevegan.com/2008/02/oatmeal-its-whats-for-breakfast.html) Sooooooo good! I hope I can continue to find them. Anyhoo, gotta finish breakfast and then Hit the GYM before more rain comes... HUGS all! zinkemomx2 09-21-2009, 11:01 AM After a year of looking for those Steel-cut Oats I FINALLY found them today at the grocery store. (They are organic too!) Anyhoo, do you make them in the Crock pot? If I make 2 cups worth ( to eat on all week) in there, how much Splenda and Cinnamon should I also add? I was gonna add some cut up apples too. Any ideas, hints or suggestions??? You can do SCO in the crock pot. I think most people do a 1:4 ratio. I personally don't like them that way as they get very mushy/creamy. I prefer to do mine on the stove top overnight. I do a 1:3 ratio. Boil 3 cups of water and add 1 cup of SCO. Give it a stir and just 2-3 minutes of cooking. Shut the burner off and put a lid on and slide it to the back corner. In the morning I warm them back up and add my extras. I've used raisins w/brown sugar, apples w/cinnamon, banana w/peanut butter, blueberries or strawberries w/almonds, banana w/pecans and just a few chocolate chips as a dessert. The possibilities are endless. They stay a little firmer with my overnight method but I am weird. I don't "cook" old fashioned oats either. I just add boiling water and stir like you would instant. Well team it looks like I made it back down to 100 lost. Awesome job Ideal! Unrelated to anything I think you mentioned a book to me on a different thread once about a fat girl running or doing a tri. Was that you and what was the title/author again? I'm just ugh. I am so stressed and depressed about DH being unemployed. It has been more than 4 months now. He drives semi and was hauling gas locally. He could always go over the road but I know he doesn't want to be gone that long. Unfortunately money is running out and unemployment doesn't pay much so he probably doesn't have much choice. He is talking to a perspective employer today. I'm not looking forward to being a single parent 3-6 weeks at a time with only 2-3 days of him home. But we will survive. In the short term I think it will probably be really good for me so that I can clean out the junk food in the house and start focusing on myself while the kids are in school instead of keeping him company. I am posting a huge gain this week and I am really sorry for that. I'm hoping that all the great losses everyone is posting will offset it and I can get my head back in the game. I was doing so well the first half of the year. I was down 30 pounds and have somehow gained half of that back since June. :( Diva 09-21-2009, 11:08 AM Zinke, I used that recipe I posted, and just tweeked it a little. I soaked them over night like retired suggested, and I am really impressed. very good. ;) I am intrigued by the peanut butter, and baanas idea...hmmmm I may have to experiment. Thanks. :) Diva 09-21-2009, 11:15 AM {P.S.} Zinke, sorry to hear of your situation and the stress. I'm willing to bet that's part of the reason you gained some poundage. I ALWAYS gain when I am stressed out. Don't beat yourself up. You know you can do this. Are ya exercising? That helps relieve some of the stress. I hope things get better and DH finds a job soon. Anyhooo, I am so happy to be in this challenge. I just realized it was about this time last year when I fell off the wagon and never really climbed back on until now. I lost my first 20 lbs and then got complacent. Then Halloween, and Thanksgiving, Christmas, Superbowl came, all the "eating" Holidays and I just gave up, so I am HOPING :crossed: this challenge will keep me on track through a couple of these Holidays!!! I REALLY wanna lose another 20 to 30 (if not more) pounds by March! retiredone 09-21-2009, 11:24 AM I had steel cut oats for breakfast too, :) but I had mine mixed with Cream of Wheat and chopped prunes. I soaked mine overnight and they cooked up quickly with the c of w I'm always combining cooked cereals together. I just looked at that recipe link that you posted Diva and the cherry pie oats looked really good too. Zinkemomx2, stress can really make us eat. I gained 15 pounds since the middle of July and most of that since the middle of August when my mom died. But you sound like you've got a plan and just planning can help. I know because I had to get out of the rut I had myself in and make a plan. I made out menus for the month and that really helps me stick to my plan. And of course being on this challenge is an incentive to keep on plan. Echo 09-21-2009, 11:35 AM I am posting a huge gain this week and I am really sorry for that. Idealmuse 09-21-2009, 11:36 AM Awesome job Ideal! Unrelated to anything I think you mentioned a book to me on a different thread once about a fat girl running or doing a tri. Was that you and what was the title/author again? "The Slow Fat Triathlete" its a really good book I read it like 3 years ago when i still weighed close to 300lbs it inspired me to try it out. Sorry you're having a rough time of it. I have several friends whos husbands have been laid off and unemployed so I know what a strain that can be. practiceliving 09-21-2009, 11:39 AM Just have like two seconds before I have to be out the door for work - my scale was NUTSO this morning - I must have tried 3 or 4 times (first one was WAY off) and each time it was 2-3lbs different. Think it must need a new battery, so I'm just assuming my SW is this week's weight too. zinkemomx2 09-21-2009, 11:39 AM Are ya exercising? I started running in May. I was doing awesome up until August 1st. My bf from GA was supposed to come visit for Labor Day and we had plans to go run an 8 mile race. She decided she didn't have the $$ and I couldn't justify spending money on the race under our current financial situation. That was sort of my breaking point as far as running. I haven't been out since. :( I was enjoying it immensely and I need to get back out there. It is raining today and I'm already sick so I don't think I should make an attempt today. Echo 09-21-2009, 11:42 AM Hello Girly wirlies! i cant wait to find out what this weeks challenge is gonna be! I was having a looksy at the older threads, and there was this one challenge that caught my eye. sounds really cool. posted by cruise CAT its about burning an extra 250 calories a week, WITHOUT really exercising. which amounts to about 1/2 lbs loss sounds cool eh! check it out! http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/biggest-loser-challenges/173082-red-rockets-week-2-challenge.html i just thought up some extra bits i can do throughout the day to burn extra calories these are all approximate, and based on my own pedometer calorie thingyamig jogging in place - 6 calories per minute 10 squats - 1.2 calories getting up from the chair (20 times - trust me you can feel the burn when you hit 20) = 2.6 calories. i might add it to the exercise and food log , as a mini challenge. Diva 09-21-2009, 11:50 AM HA! I am ALL About #6. Have more Sex!;) hehe I think I must burn 250 just going to the dang potty over and over and doing the potty squats!!! I swear, from the time I get up until about noon, I have to pee every 15 to 20 minutes. TMI I know. :P Echo 09-21-2009, 12:15 PM HA! I am ALL About #6. I've been feeling sad and down for NO reason...don't know what's wrong guys. I'm deciding to start clean slate on Monday. I really wish I knew what's wrong though...what's bothering me?? I feel down and don't really care much about anything except my son....blaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! I can totally relate to this! Hi guys! I didn't post this past week because I was out of town and just wasn't on the computer much. Food wasn't good either...uhg Even with watching TBL that I DVR'd this morning, I just can't get motivated. I think it's all the rain we've been having. I haven't seen the sun for a while... Here's to a great OP week everyone! I don't think I'll have time to go back and figure out any challenges that are going on at the moment...but I'll try. :) ~Suzie ...who didn't see a new thread yet for week 2, so I just posted here. :) :cheer3: :goodluck: everyone! :cheer3: http://www.3fatchicks.net/img/bar-day/cartoonapple01/lb/212/140/197/.png (http://www.3fatchicks.com/) Bev 09-21-2009, 12:29 PM I didn't do good this week at all. I ate out way to much. It is time to get back on track. Phenomenal Woman 09-21-2009, 01:06 PM Hello all! I haven't really posted to this thread at all yet. I've spent the last two days just trying to read through this thread! LOL :) I've decided not to do personals this time, because there was just way too much to keep up with, but I'm sending healing thoughts and energies your way those of you who have been ill or having physical problems. And those of you having troubles with loved ones' health or deaths, I'm sending you my warmest thoughts of comfort as well. This first week was a bit strange for me. I started it off just coming back from a trip to Belgium, (during which I could not help but buy a TON of chocolate, lol. Don't scowl at me, it was BELGIUM! What other souvenir would even compare to the best chocolate on earth? :) hehehehe) I did a lot of walking in Belgium, but not much of it was aerobic, just regular walking most of it. Still, I counted it as exercise because if I wasn't doing that, I woulda just been sitting still on the couch probably. lol I have only eaten a very small amount of the chocolate that I got there so far, I've been very careful with how much I allow myself to have, yet I know that having any is really not what I want for myself at the moment, so I've wrapped up the rest of the chocolate in plastic and put them all in one place. I've wrapped the plastic so firmly and with so much tape, that I'll actually have to WORK to get it open. LOL ... I figure if it's that much effort to get to it, maybe I'll take the time to reconsider the choice I'm making. :) Unfortunately, with the trip and chocolate and the going away party I had on Saturday for a friend who is moving to New Zealand next month, my weigh in was rather disappointing. It was exactly the same as my starting weight. I must say I'm actually glad just to not have gained! But still I'm going to be working harder this week to start the scale moving downward again! I'm watching last season of TBL, I had to download it because we don't get it here, and I had never seen it before, so I wanted to have a whole season to watch. The show is surprisingly addicting. lol Man, I don't know if I could do what those people do! That's some TOUGH stuff! I decided that since the show is 2 hours, I'm not going to allow myself to sit and watch it any more. Instead, I will use my wii fit and do free stepping while I watch. I did it today for the first time and stepped for the first hour of the show. I'm hoping by the end of this week I'll be doing free step through the entire show every time I watch it. Ok, that's enough from me now, I'll let the rest of you talk for a bit again. Hehehe :) GO BLUE TEAM!!!!!! Diva 09-21-2009, 02:26 PM LOL Roni hahaha !!! just think everytime you pee, your losing some fat! flushing it out of your system! Well there ya go! I can live with that! LOL! Girl I'm right above you in East TN and it's done nothing but rain here too. It can get depressing but I've decided to go with the flow (so to speak) and not let it get to me. I'll just have to live with damp, curly hair, the humidity and carry my butt to the GYM anyways. ;) You can do it! I didn't do good this week at all. I ate out way to much. It is time to get back on track. You can do it girly! We're here for ya!!!! Phenomenal Woman: I think not gaining is WAY better than gaining! You maintained and that's cool too! And lemme tell ya about Chocolate. I MUST have it. I ALWAYS have a stash in this house because I LOVE it and if I can't have it, or think I can't have it, I'll surely go get some and binge on it. So I always keep some here. I don't always eat it, I can go weeks without any...but I need to know it's here when I DO want it. hehe...The things we do... Just got home from the GYM and I am sooo excited! my blood sugar is exactly 100!!!!!:carrot: I have not seen it this low in months! I've been struggling like crazy with the High sugar and it gets sooooo frustrating, so this is awesome!!!! Yay me! Nella 09-21-2009, 03:06 PM Great job everyone on our first week! I had been down to 178.0, but I think TOM is any moment, so I went up a bit, even though I was OP and worked out a fair amount. Oh well, next week should be better, lol. I did have a day of cheating, but gaining 6 lbs? It's got to be a lot about pre-TOM but heck. 6 pounds!??!?!?! I'm really discouraged, just want to gorge today. Yay me! hahah Roni! >> i know i'm desperate to find out about week 2 challenge! hehehehe been checking it. but yah i dont wanna step on anyone toes either hehe. i'm on a break from revising. i'm using a deck of cards to make my revision interesting! haha i finally pulled a joker, which allowed me a break yipeee ! haha whilst i was studying, i got a little idea. so i was reading papers, pulling a diamond after a diamond (diamond means reading a paper) and after awhile, got tired sitting down. so i stood up and revised. and then thought of lifting my foot whilst im standing up. remember the biggest loser pop challenge when they had to stand on one foot!! so i did that. and i managed like 2 minutes 24 seconds before i toppled over hahaha. anyways .....bear with me, i am getting somewhere with this! lol - promise. so i thought of doing a thread, a pop challenge for the blue team. i hope its OK and i'm not stepping on anyones toes!! :o please tell me if i am and i can delete it. Hope its okay Dixie!! :o sorry i just got really excited about the idea. initially i was just gonna add it to the food and exercise thread. but it might be too cumbersome. like today can be. the longest you can stand on one foot. and you record your time. you can try as many times as you like to get the highest recording! anyways if anyone is interested in joining in on the little UNOFFICIAL pop challenege. here is the link :) http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/biggest-loser-challenges/182291-blue-team-pop-challenge-week-2-a.html i'm busy studying this week. i feel too guilty taking out a whole hour to just exercise, so trying to fit random bits of exercise in between studying. a minute here and there. i might exercise after i've studied for the day. anyways thats my break over! time to hit the deck *literally* lol! i'm so cheesy thats awesome about your blood sugar! way to go!! :bravo: dream710 09-21-2009, 09:43 PM Well I didn't get to take the kids to the park yesterday. :( DS has come down with a terrible cold and DD was just being a pill. I ended up bowling in a travel league, after 6 games my arm and fingers are sore! Was suppose to bowl again tonight but I chose to set out. Diva-great job on the sugars. Keep up the hardwork Echo-great job on fitting the exercise in when you can and for the POP challenge. Happening- This is a new week. Just keep eating right and exercising and the preTOM weight will come off. Phoneomenal-Belgium chocolate...YUM! Of course walking should count as exercise. And no gain while away on vacation its actually pretty impressive. Bev-Eating out is a big down fall of mine as well. I have a coworker that likes to eat out 3 times a wk. I try to have willpower but usually give in at least once a week. Muse-great job on the hundred lbs! Very impressive, keep up the great work. Dixie-you're an inspiration! Way to keep up your exercise routine during your busy week. Zinke- I feel for you. I work in the trucking industry and its tough out there. The economy has really hit them hard. Ppl are buying less, shippers are sending less out combined with the price of fuel, its causing a lot of trucking companies to downsize or even close their doors. Maybe if he takes the over the road job it will be a temporary fix until he can find something closer to home. Ok I better close for now. DS wants to get ready for bed and DD has the Clue game set up. Everyone have a great night. dixied 09-21-2009, 09:43 PM Echo - I made you the Offical Challenge Leader this week! He drives semi and was hauling gas locally. He could always go over the road but I know he doesn't want to be gone that long. Unfortunately money is running out and unemployment doesn't pay much so he probably doesn't have much choice. Do you have any small trucking companies in your local area? My hubby drives OTR but is home every weekend and often a day during the week as well, and he makes pretty good money...he worked for a small local company that just ran him up and down the east coast, with the occaisonal trip to California if he wanted it, but taht was only sometimes. You might look for something like that, a small company may get him home more than the larger companies. We have been having pretty rough time as well because hubby is running owner contractor now and freight is just slow, then his truck broke down and he just went over a month at home with no pay and HUGE repair bill :( it's not good times for the trucking industry...which is scary when you realize our entire economy and daily lifestyles depend on this neglected industry  I hope he finds something soon, check into some smaller companies though. Idealmuse 09-22-2009, 12:26 AM Oh cool, I have to track down this book and check it out too! Congrats on the 100 lbs btw. :) Thanks! I did my first Tri July 2008. :) It's an awesome book even if one isn't in to Tris it's a good read. Funny. gatorgirl6 09-22-2009, 01:00 AM Bigmid- I haven't yet met with my personal trainer yet, due to the assessment you have to do before, and then they assess what you need and which trainer is best for you. I hope to hear by wednesday. I think my trainer is much less expensive than you would find anywhere else. I am a college student and the trainers are students who are studying some sort of health (sports med, physical therapy, etc.) so the prices are cheaper. It is about $18-$22 an hr depending on the package you buy for students, or $22-$30 for members (non students who use the gym on campus). Ill let you know how I like my trainer. I am going to have them help me rehab from my injury, so it may be different than what you are looking for. Weight loss is only a secondary objective for this. My primary goal is getting back to normal working order. Institches21 09-22-2009, 01:07 AM Well, so behind on reading, and no time to write personals. Grrr..I thought I had a great week, Food was great, stayed within my pts, and Exercised everyday, but I had a 1 lb gain, sorry guys, that darn scale. I actually do feel much better, staying away from those 100 calorie packs, and tried to pay attention to, if I was truly hungry, thirsty or just bored. So I will continue on this path for this week, and if I need to, will adjust things a bit next week. Hope everyone has a great week, and I hope to catch up on all the posts. SweetScrumptious 09-22-2009, 02:46 AM Just wanted to tell everyone that i am LOVING bikram yoga! I go Tues, Thurs, and Sats. Here it is Monday, and I'm craving to go since I haven't gone for 2 days. I want tomorrow to come NOW! I do weight lifting Mon, Wed, and Fri. Which I love too...! JoyfulVegGirl 09-22-2009, 04:10 AM Wow, I feel like such a bad teammate. Sorry I can't catch up and do personals, but I wanted to check in super fast and update real quick. Hopefully next time I can catch up a bit. I'm going through another move right now, looking for another job while working full-time, and I haven't been able to use my car so I've been taking the bus and train everywhere. All of that translates to not a lot of free time and no cooking, but I've still managed to lose 2 lbs by watching my portion sizes. (It's actually been more because I went up to 168 before I started losing again, but shhh.) Anyway, next time I'll try to read through the thread and get caught up. You might look for something like that, a small company may get him home more than the larger companies. Our biggest problem is our location. We are in Northern Michigan about 50 miles from the interstate and the Mackinaw Bridge. The few local companies around here haul mostly out to Cali then to the east coast. Some of the larger companies are telling him he would be out 4-6 weeks at a time due to our location. There isn't much freight coming back to Michigan and the only thing that seems to go out through our area is steel from Canada and there isn't much of that right now either. I'm trying to convince him that if he does have to go OTR that we should use it as an opportunity to move out of state. I'm writing with a sad heart today.
