Biggest Loser Challenges - Red Team Week 1 ThreadView Full Version : Red Team Week 1 Thread RangerChic 09-13-2009, 02:08 PM Hey red team, our challenge begins this week! Here is the thread for general chatter and support. Good luck, and let's all lose some weight and get healthier! :) Lizzyg 09-13-2009, 02:30 PM Hope everyone has a good week!! I'm just about to get off my butt and go running! :) Luckybustert 09-13-2009, 03:24 PM Hi team! Hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful weekend. This past week hubby and I went and started the HCG Slim Express diet. I've read some negative things about HCG diets here and other places so will just say that so far it's working for us and no, I didn't have to give up makeup or other cosmetics for the duration, nor did I have to give up my fish oil supplements (either of those would have been enough for me to say no way am I doing this). It's supervised by a naturopath who administers the weekly shots, and the only complaint so far is I'm tired and hungry...lol...which I knew would be the case the first week. Basically it's just a low carb low fat diet supplemented with protein shakes and supposedly comes in between 850 to 1250 calories per day. Plus my fish oil would add another 40 to 50 calories (need to find out exactly how many). I ended the summer challenge at 224.6 and had gone back up to 230.2. I kept the weigh in figure of 224.6 here as, since starting the HCG on Tuesday, am down to 222 as of today. So as long as it's working I'm happy! We're not supposed to do any strenuous exercise for the first couple weeks (darn!) but okay to do things like yoga (thinking about checking out the evening yoga classes at 24 Hr Fitness this coming week) and I got a little walking in at lunchtime this past week. Obviously this won't be a permanent way of eating for us -- and it's not meant to be. We did our research and it was an informed decision to go on this program. Right now our focus is just on getting the excess weight OFF, and we'll deal with how we're going to eat the rest of our lives when we get to maintenance. IgetfitNStrongforme 09-13-2009, 03:50 PM I am so excited I can't wait for our first weigh in! The Blue Team is Toast! Lizzyg 09-13-2009, 05:19 PM Blue team is going down!!:) lol I suck at the trash talking ;) So far, I'm doing well. My period is over, and I'm counting my calories. Good luck, Lucky with your new plan. Its not something I could stick with, but it sounds like its working for you guys. Nicki54 09-13-2009, 05:32 PM I'm terrible at trash talk so I'm going to concentrate on encouraging us all on the red team. REDS TO WIN Nicki IgetfitNStrongforme 09-13-2009, 05:46 PM The Red Team won the Summer TBL Challange, so we are already on a roll! :woohoo: The Red Team will kick butt and take NAMES!!! LOL I have a very good feeling about our first weigh in. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: bradleys mom 09-13-2009, 06:45 PM Woohoo!!! Today was my "off" day since we had our homecoming celebration at church, but the good news is they sent the vegetable tray leftovers home with me so I have plenty of already cut up veggies to snack on! Going to try to fit in a workout tonight to jumpstart the burn!!! Lets go RED! shan84 09-13-2009, 07:12 PM Good morning Red Team! Hope everyone has a great start to their week. It's Monday here in SK. Thanks to ya'lls great advice yesterday I found some online fitness videos. I tried to do one yesterday. They are tough but I had fun. I could only do 12 mins the 1st time and 14 mins the 2nd time for a total of a 26 minute fitness video. But hey, its something and I definitely worked up a sweat! I'm going to do these 4 times a week and keep up with my walking this week. As always doing my calorie counting as well. GO RED TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!! JasonsLea 09-13-2009, 07:56 PM  girls! So I woke up this morning, got on the scale, and wondered how in the **** did I gain 2 lbs when I ate pretty well and got in some good exercise this week?! I wasn't expecting a big loss but come on. I got my answer this afternoon.....TOM. :dz: I'm relieved he came this week though since our first official WI isn't till next week. Not changing my ticker cause I know it's water weight and I'm going to be good this week so next WI will be good. chiquita623 09-13-2009, 08:44 PM Hey Red Team. Good Sunday Evening to you all. Not much new to report with me. Been on vacation this past week and have to go back to work tomorrow. Ugh!!! Oh well. Guess if I want the check I have to go to work to get it. My plan for the week is to continue counting my calories and doing some workouts in the evenings. While it's nice outside I prefer to walk or ride my bicycle or anything that involves the outdoors. The cold weather will be here soon enough and then I'll be stuck inside. Have a good night everyone. I'll check back in tomorrow. ellgee 09-13-2009, 09:49 PM Hi Red Team! Excited and READY to start the new week after having a less than stellar weekend on the eating front. :( And I did so well all week long. But the weekend is done and over with. I'm refocused and to make up for this sad little weekend, I am going to challenge myself to really exercise this week. Will it be tough - YES! I hate to exercise. But, alas, this is my penance. Talk to y'all soon! Cape Breton Chick 09-13-2009, 10:05 PM Hey Everyone!! Just want to pop in and say hey to you all.. and g'night.. I am exhausted after spending the day with family, had a great day though and am so ready to start this challenge! See you all tomorrow.. Here's to a great week ladies and may God bless and guide you all!! :grouphug: bradleys mom 09-13-2009, 10:44 PM Hey Everyone!! Just want to pop in and say hey to you all.. and g'night.. I am exhausted after spending the day with family, had a great day though and am so ready to start this challenge! See you all tomorrow.. Here's to a great week ladies and may God bless and guide you all!! :grouphug: Thanks!!! I love the scripture quoted in your siggy! I should really write that on paper on put it up somewhere I will see it often, like on the fridge! MonteCristo 09-14-2009, 12:10 AM Is everybody going to do their measurements for the challenge? I know the primary focus is on weightloss, but sometimes another set of numbers can help keep me motivated. I'm pretty lazy, so I only track three numbers. Bust - 40 inches Waist - 33 inches Hips - 41 inches I don't usually measure every week, just one or twice a month. How do you guys do it? MissVitality 09-14-2009, 06:03 AM Morning All! So glad to get this challenge underway! The weekend put a lot of temptation in my way. My dad and his wife came up from England to visit and we went out for a meal. I did indulge and have some ice-cream for dessert but I reckon a wee treat is okay when you have been eating healthily all week (well, that's my excuse anyway and I'm sticking to it!) On Saturday, Scotland had the rare treat of gloriously warm weather and I was invited through to Stirling to my friend's for lunch. Well, she had prepared quite the feast! I am pleased to say I did not go mad with the food which is a big thing for me as I usually come undone when faced with a buffet! I'm all excited as I have my Body Combat class tonight and I haven't been able to go it fo 3 months because of my knee. I have really missed it and can't wait to get back into it. Hope you are all doing well. Cat and Shannon - feel better soon! Cat - I remember how excited you were when you got your treadmill - glad it's still being put to good use. We will get those extra pounds off us soon, my love and you are right, no point beating ourselves up about it. It has happened and all we can do now is deal with it!! MonteCristo - I had totally forgotten you had a trip planned to Scotland!!! How did it go? Thanks for the reminder that taking your measurements at the start of the challenge is a good way of measuring progress. I'm off to do that now! Mindy - hope the 5K went well, let us know how you got on. BetteK - how did the basket weaving go? Bradley's Mom - it is nice to see you back on the Red Team! Shari - good to see you again. Don't worry about the TOM weight, happens to us all and it will go again. Everyone else - have a really good day and I will catch up with personals for you all later xxx jayjay4444 09-14-2009, 08:14 AM Hi Red Team! Im so excited about our challenge. I work alot but I am devoted to this. Well off to working out now. MonteCristo 09-14-2009, 09:13 AM MissVitality - The trip was great. It rained on and off everyday, but they were nice gentle showers, and we were prepared, so it wasn't a big deal. It is so beautiful, and everyone was so friendly. We were pretty worn out by the last day, so instead of hiking the last 19 miles we explored Urquhart castle, then took a bus to Inverness and spent the rest of the day walking around the city. I really enjoyed the trip, though I think my next vacation will be a bit less strenuous! ;) ETA: I forgot to mention that I lost 1.6lbs last week! :woohoo: Ms Perception 09-14-2009, 10:00 AM MonteCristo- I measure my waist, hips, bust, thighs and upper arms. I do it once a month and record it in a book I have for my weight loss info. It has been helpful to have an extra set of #s reinforcing the fact that what we're doing is working! I went out of town this past weekend and made some bad choices, so I'm not pleased with that, but I'm back on track today and ready to make this week count. I'm at the point where I needed to refocus again (I've been losing since last November) and I know this challenge will help me do that. sweetandspicy 09-14-2009, 10:21 AM Good Monday Morning to you all. I reported a one pound loss wish it was more, but have had some trouble staying on plan lately. We have been so busy with the kids and football I seem to be gabbing quick things and eating them and I had been staying away from processed foods and my body is panicking. I am quite bloated today and feel yuckie, but that is the way I need to feel to get back on plan. I did get in some great exercise on Saturday I walked/jogged while pushing my one year old in a stoller and I made my best time yet, then I went on a walk with my DH and he kept saying slow down this is not a race. I was just going my normal speed not even attempting to be quick. Anyway, I packed a healthy lunch and will get in my fruits, veggies and water this week. I started calorie counting last week and realized I can not eat what I want even if it is under a certain amount of calories I still have to limit carbs and sugars to loose. Shan84- great job on starting to exercise your endurance will increase in no time. Monte- I have my measurments at home, I will try to remember to post them tonight. Thanks for the reminder... Hope everyone has a great day and a great weigh in!!! GO RED TEAM!!!! KimL1214 09-14-2009, 12:07 PM mtiger~ How did you do on your 5K? jessicado22~ Try coming up with some non-food goals. For example, I’m going to get my hair done, something new and funky, when I break through 230 lbs. Frozen yogurt was a great choice! Cape Breton Chick~ I love Turbo Jam!!! That is so sweet of your mom to check in with you about any meal switches or additions you might need. IgetfitNStrongforme~ Sounds like a yummy pizza! Congrats on 4 lbs.!!! RangerChic~ Congratulations on reaching your pre-vacation weight!!! When you add whey powder to things does it give them a funny flavor? cakses~ How is your throat feeling? Nicki54~ Arthritis, ick! Do you have a pool nearby that you could use to get some swimming in? chiquita623~ How did the work dinner go? Timeforme~ Yeah, I’m super busy, but trying to use it to help keep me OP. What are you doin for exercise? Aclai4067~ Congrats on 4.4lbs.!!! Lizzyg~ Planning on doing more 5Ks? I got addicted after my first… JasonsLea~ Ewwww, TOM. I think all women should be able to take time off, paid when they have TOM. Luckybustert~ Sounds like an interesting diet. bradleys mom~ Sweetness on the veggie trays! shan84~ Sounds like some intense fitness videos! Where did you find them online? MonteCristo~ Congrats on the loss!!! Mommyofsix~ Wow! Pushing a stroller while running is super hard! I tried doing last year when walking with a friend and talk about a serious leg burning workout! Hey Everyone!!! I had a pretty decent weekend, with the exception of my mild drinking binge I went on Friday night (first one in forever though, so I’m not feeling that guilty about it). Big news is that I got a gym membership yesterday and got a really good arm workout in! Our fridge broke last night so food could be a little interesting over the next few days… mythreesons 09-14-2009, 12:40 PM Good morning! I have a pretty hectic week planned. We are having a big party this weekend and DH is in the process of finishing up some big projects, so my house is a disaster. I try to clean throughout the day but my boys always try to make that difficult. I know that it will all get done but for now it stresses me out. It is also TOM, so I am hoping and praying that between the stress and TOM, I will be able to resist all of my comfort foods. Lucky - Good luck with your plan! You need to do what you think is best for yourself. Shan - Good job on the exercise videos. Keep up the great work. JasonsLea - UGH on the water weight gain. You will do great next week! MissVitality - It is fine to indulge everyone in a while. Great job staying on plan throughout the meal!:wave: to everone else! Have a great week! GO TEAM RED!!!! chiquita623 09-14-2009, 01:01 PM Good Morning Red Team. Just a quick flyby since it's my first day back at work after 10 days off. Yuck!!! The work dinner went OK I think. I had an orange and a couple of carrots before I left home. When I got there I only drank water, ate 1/3 of the chicken breast (grilled and huge!!), 1/2 of the baked potato and maybe 1/2C green beans. They had salad but no LF/RF salad dressing so I put a little ranch on it. They also had chocolate cake and I had a small piece (maybe 1.5 inches by 2 inches). So all in all I think I did pretty well. And I got right back on plan yesterday. So maybe no gain. Although I'm up 1.5 lbs. today. Hopefully it's water weight from the dinner. We'll see. I'll be back later. They're calling my name. JasonsLea 09-14-2009, 01:37 PM  girls! Hope you all had a great weekend! Monte ~ I do my measurements once a month, at the beginning. They haven't changed since the beginning of this year, which is totally my fault but I'm trying to turn that around. WTG on the WL! MissV ~ I just saw that you live in Scotland. I would LOVE to visit Scotland one day! It's on my list of things to do once I win the lottery or rob a bank. :p Kim ~ That would be so awesome! Of course, being the only female at work, I wouldn't hear the end of it from the guys. MyThreeSons ~ It seems to be TOM for alot of my online friends. That means we spend too much time talking to each other! Cape Breton Chick 09-14-2009, 01:40 PM Hey Everyone!!! I hope everyone is having a great day.. mine has been hectic, and only going to get even more so before the day is done..lol Working till 5:15, then a board meeting at 6 and then a parent meeting at 7.. I hope I am home before 8..but i dunnoo.. lol taking my supper with me so that I wont have to come home and eat too late... k well only a few minutes left of break so I gotta jet.. talk later!! :grouphug: shea5 09-14-2009, 02:26 PM Hey fellow Red Team members, it looks like you are all off to a great start. I didn't have a great weekend, but I pretty much knew with the parties involved it would be tough. I'm planning on doing a pilates video tonight, and trying to fit a walk in tomorrow morning. For this week I'll be sticking to those two activites every other day, but next week I'm going to try something a little more adventurous. Have a great Monday, everyone. Timeforme 09-14-2009, 03:11 PM Hi Red Team! KimL1214~ I've started walking with a friend 2X a week after we drop our kids off at school. I need to build up more exercise time!! Congrats on your gym membership. That's great. I too had a mild drinking episode this weekend. Darn that Sunday night football! shea5~ Do you like your pilates video? Is it difficult? Cape Breton Chick~ Wow, you have a busy day today. Good luck! chiquita623~ Great job at your work dinner! Those can be so difficult. Wishing everyone a great, on plan, Monday! We can do this, Red Team! IgetfitNStrongforme 09-14-2009, 03:43 PM Good Morning Red Team, I had a very quiet and boring weekend, I just exercised and watched old movies. I am very excited about our first weigh in. This week I am going to try to bring my calories down to 1600 a day, I am hovering at about 1800 to 1900 a day. I am also going to be calorie cycling. MonteCristo - My goal measurements are as follows: Bust: under 36 Waist:24 Hips: 37 I try not to measure myself but every other month so I can really see the change. BTW congrats on your weight loss! Shea5 - Pilates, that sounds like a fun workout. Cape Breton Chick - I too love that psalms, what's your favorite? JasonsLea - Hello, I hope you had a great weekend. chiquita623 - Don't worry the 1.5 LBS gain is most likely water. mythreesons - With three sons I bet yours days are hectic, and you have TOM this week to boot. I find if I have 1 ounce of chocolate a day during TOM everything is so much better. :D KimL1214 - Thanks, hang in there I hope you can get a repair person fast to fix your frig. Mommyofsix - A pound is fantastic, you should be very proud. And don't stress on the carbs and sugar you'll work that out. I have lost over 95 lbs and I did 1 to 2 pounds at a time and I still crave sugar it's a battle. I am not sure if it will every go away. jayjay4444 - I am so excited as well! I can't wait for our first weigh in. bradleys mom - Cool veggie tray score! MissVitality- Wow Scotland I have always wanted to visit there, looks so beautiful in the movies and in photo's. Good job on the buffet. ellgee - The weekends are hard on me too, but it's a new day. shan84- I am glad you found an exercise video you like. Ms Perception - That's right today is a new day, get right back on that horse. Hello to the entire RED Team! :woohoo: KimL1214 09-14-2009, 03:58 PM IgetfitNStrongforme~ When you say calorie cycling, what do you mean (this may be a stupid question…)? Does it help boost weight loss? Timeforme~ I used to walk all the time, but can’t find anyone to go with me, that’s sweet that you have a friend that will! We just got back from a 90 minute hike and I actually made it to the top for the first time!!! I’m super proud of myself but also extremely tired… So my thought is that I will stop by the grocery store and make a salad at the salad bar and then try to find a Lean Cuisine or Smart One to indulge in although I think my roomie is planning on hitting up the pizzeria. If that is the case, I’ll order a salad and see if I can convince her to at least get the pizza on a wheat crust. Nicki54 09-14-2009, 04:03 PM Here is a selection of the smilies I don't want to use :?::mad::cry::shrug::tantrum::censored::no::sorry: :yikes::spammer::kickbutt::nono::rolleyes: These are the ones I want to use :):D:carrot::lol::wave::bravo::cb::cp::dancer ::cloud9::high::cheer2::cheer3::woohoo::broc::good luck: I'll sure I'll get to know you all throughout this challenge but I can say one thing right now. I'm 100% committed to support everyone on the red team no matter what.:carrot: Nicki bradleys mom 09-14-2009, 04:05 PM So I am getting ready to get in my exercise for today... My 10 month old is being particularly hard to get along with, but maybe if he sees me jumping around it will be entertaining! My 3 y/o is napping so this is the perfect time! bradleys mom 09-14-2009, 04:05 PM Oh and BTW, I am so excited about TBL tomorrow night that I can barely stand it!!! IgetfitNStrongforme 09-14-2009, 04:08 PM Oh and BTW, I am so excited about TBL tomorrow night that I can barely stand it!!! Me too, I have been counting the days! This show inspired me to take back my life and it's always encourages me to keep going. MonteCristo 09-14-2009, 05:03 PM You know what? I've never seen an episode of the biggest loser. I've been doing these challenges for over a year, and I have most of Jillian's books and videos, but I've never seen the show. Is there someplace online where you can watch old episodes? IgetfitNStrongforme 09-14-2009, 05:04 PM Go REDDIES! :cheer3::cheer::cheer2: I am very excited about our first :goodscale weigh in. I don't want the Blue team to beat us at our first weigh in and I don't think you do either. I do have a great feeling that will win but only if we go for it. I know if we can get our exercise :bike2::woops::lifter::trampo::belly::exercise: :swim::strong::ebike::boxing::tread: in, eat healthy, and drink lots of water :coffee:(water aids in weight loss) we will win the weigh in and the entire challenge. If you fall off the horse get right back on, and if you can stop and think before you cheat that's even better. Come here :comp: and talk about what's going on, we are all in this together for a reason to support each other. And if you aren't near a computer pick up the phone and :callme: call a friend. Because I can tell you nothing and I mean nothing feels better then losing weight and taking back your life. Because really that's what we all are doing here, we are worth the best LIFE possible nothing is out of our reach, we can all achieve our dreams! GO REDDIES! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: Timeforme 09-14-2009, 06:40 PM IgetfitNStrongforme~ Thanks for the pep talk and the reminder to drink my water! I tend to forget that. I really want for our team to win this first week too. I've confirmed my walking plans for tomorrow with my walking buddy, so that I can't back out! Let's start this challenge off with a great win for RED!! Aclai4067 09-14-2009, 07:02 PM Monte- I believe you can watch them on NBC's website. Hulu has a few espisodes from last season and a whole bunch of clips. I've never watched the show consistently, but I'll pop in on it here and there. Igetfit- great pep talk. FYI- some studies have shown that 2 glasses on non-fat milk per day can aid in weight loss as well. I usually get my milk in; I think it helps. jessicado22 09-14-2009, 07:22 PM Monte--you can also download seasons from torrent sites if you might so happen to do that. Not that any of us ever would! Excited for the new season to start too! I don't get TV where I am at, so will have to Hulu it later on. Still excited though! Well, I set my exercise goal REALLY high as I didn't work out at all yesterday--550 minutes! I decided to make 2 trips to the gym today, but my first trip didn't last very long as DD was so cranky in child watch, they came to get me after only 25 minutes! Luckily I at least got to just finish C25K. Am planning another trip tonight, where hopefully she will be fine (I think she was just in need of a nap), and then she will get to go swimming with her grandma for an hour, so I should be able to get alot of time in. I am going for 2 1/2 hrs today to make up for my lack of exercise this weekend! IgetfitNStrongforme 09-14-2009, 07:30 PM Monte- I believe you can watch them on NBC's website. Great tip, I have read that as well, I try to make sure I get 2-3 glasses of organic milk a day. I read that it's the calcium in milk with the vitamin D it acts like a soap in our body taking the fat with it. "The high calcium in milk can help reduce high levels of bad cholesterol in the blood, and increase low levels of good cholesterol both of which are known risk factors for cardiovascular disease" And it's best if you get from food. Great Tip Aclai4067! I just thought of a tip, Grean Tea "The green tea extract AR25 is an 80% ethanolic dry extract standardized at 25% catechins expressed as epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). In vitro, green tea extract AR25 exerts a direct inhibition of gastric and pancreatic lipases and a stimulation of thermogenesis. In an open study, the effects of extract AR25 were evaluated in moderately obese patients. After 3 months, body weight was decreased by 4.6% and waist circumference by 4.48%. These results suggest the green tea extract AR25 to be a natural product for the treatment of obesity, which exerts its activity by several ways: inhibition of lipases and stimulation of thermogenesis. " That's about 3 - 5 cups a day. Does anyone else have any tips? GO REDDIES! dcapulet 09-14-2009, 07:48 PM I just took the orientation at my school gym, so with my running, I AM READY!! sounds like the rest of the team is too! GOOOOOOOOOO REDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!! Aclai4067 09-14-2009, 08:20 PM Any of you ladies who have a 3FC diet blog, I would love to be added to your blogroll! http://www.3fatchicks.com/diet-blogs/aclai4067/ I have added primm, msconception, miss vitality, montecristo, KimL, shan84, JasonsLea, weightlosswanted, and zoochick Cakses and Rangerchic- I had trouble with your links. If anyone else would like to be on my blogroll send me your link! CanadaMel 09-14-2009, 08:34 PM Sounds like everyone is off to a GREAT start in our official 1st week of the challenge. I am back on track this week- though am expecting TOM sometime this week- hope it doesn't affect my weigh in too much next week. Had a good run/walk this morning after dropping the kids off at school. My youngest tried a new dayhome today & seemed to enjoy herself so I hope it will work out for her as it will save us ~$300/m - whew! I've never really watched TBL show- but just picked up Jillian's 'Winning By Losing' at the library & am ready to jump into it. shan84 09-14-2009, 08:56 PM Hey Red Team! Well its Tuesday morning here in SK. On plan with diet and exercise so far this week. My calories were way to low yesterday but that was my own fault. I had to go grocery shopping after work so I can get back on target for the rest of the week. KimL1214- I posted on this site and someone suggested exercisetv.tv. I went over there and they actually have some free full length videos posted. I picked one that looked interesting and bookmarked it to my computer. Hope everyone's week is going well. jayjay4444 09-14-2009, 09:20 PM I usually walk 3 miles everyday but today I included a few spurts of jogging. I really don't remember jogging being so hard. I count calories and today I was right on target. Tomorrow is my first day of weight lifting. Hope I can move Wednesday for work after lifting weights. SimpleRhythm 09-14-2009, 09:30 PM Hey Ladies, I didn't post any intro on the pre-challenge thread so here it goes... I am a 27 yr old Social Woker from the great state of Washington. I Joined weight watchers in my early 20's and went from 215 lbs to 120 lbs over the course of about 5 years. Since then my weight has crept back up and I am currently at about 153.4. I would like to get back down to my low weight but I exercise a lot more now and so I may not need to go that low to still be happy with my body. I am currently in my third week back at WW and hope this will be added motivation! I'm looking forward to getting to know you all and promise full disclosure about my dietary indiscretions so that hopefully you all will be kind enough to give me a verbal lashing if needs be ;) I'm looking forward to getting to know you all better as we bond over our common desire to demolish the blue team (in the weight loss department anyways :club:) Good Luck Everyone! Cape Breton Chick 09-14-2009, 10:27 PM Hey there everyone!!! I hope everyone had a great day.. I am absolutely wiped.. I have been up since 5.. got up that early to get a workout in as I new it was going to be a long day... work was hectic.. but managed to get the kids going to some kiddie tunes n rocked it out for half and hour dancin hard with them.. it was too funny, but also had the added bonus of extra weight in the form of a very sleepy 2 yr old.. lol then we had a board meeting at 6 and then a meeting with all of the parents at 7.. so it is off to bed with me so that I can get up and get a wrk out in tomorrow morning too! :grouphug: Ms Perception 09-14-2009, 10:44 PM Wow...so much energy and motivation here! I'm also looking forward to the show tomorrow. DH and I have watched pretty much all the seasons and now I've got my mom interested in watching occassionally too. She's also wanting to drop weight and get healthier. I'm reminded to update my blog since there's actually someone reading it. LOL I haven't been super OP the last few weeks and now I feel like I'm getting back to old form...ready to lose the rest of this crazy weight and meet my new body! I'm within 10 pounds of being "normal" on the BMI chart...can I get a WOOT WOOT!? I've never been very normal in any other way, but this I will gladly accept!! Today was an excellent OP day. Tomorrow will be the same and I will make my team proud! Go RED! IgetfitNStrongforme 09-14-2009, 11:09 PM Reddies, This Wednesday is my first day with my walking group I started for homeless ladies I volunteer with. I am so nervous and excited, 37 ladies have signed up for the group. Please say a pray that everything goes smoothly. I want to motivate and inspire them to take back their lives (health), and exercise is a great place to start. They are being feed spiritually now it's time to work on their temple. :) IgetfitNStrongforme 09-14-2009, 11:24 PM Hey red team, our challenge begins this week! Here is the thread for general chatter and support. Good luck, and let's all lose some weight and get healthier! :) Can you please post all the members of the RED team again, I understand there we additions? Thanks :D Bette k 09-15-2009, 12:51 AM Hi red team, It looks like there is a lot of pep in here this challenge. I had a great weekend as far as being fun, and I wasn't the worst on my eating, but Ididn't keep track of anything, and I went to a buffet on Saturday night with a big group of people from the faire. I ate my fruit during the day and found some eggs for breakfast on sunday. I wove baskets both days, and got to talk to people and have a great time. I was close enough to hear some good music and reconnected with some friends I haven't seen for a while. Next weekend I'm going to put one or more baskets up for silent auction and try to make some money. I bought some new reed today, one batch was space dyed, it's so pretty with shades of blue, purple, green and black along it. I'm going to do that in a twill, it should look great. My WI this week so far was off, partly because I didn't drink enough water over the weekend, (BR for workers was a block away and I had no one to watch my stuff) and TOM started today ( I'm glad it waited till after the weekend.) Hope everyone has a great week Bette K cakses 09-15-2009, 01:01 AM Hi Red Team! I'm still recovering from surgery but on the crazy liquid diet I'm on I lost 6 pounds in the last week LOL. Guess it will be a great kick start once I am eating normal food again and exercising. I was in a ton of pain all day and so sore from the neck up. I'm feeling a little bit better now though. I'm off to bed! Have a great Tuesday everyone! Cape Breton Chick 09-15-2009, 06:52 AM Agh.. sorry ladies I need to vent for a few minutes... I have no problem staying on plan at all.. and I havnet changed a thing since I steadily lost 10pounds over 1 month.. My calories are bang on. I know I need to pick my water intake back up a little.. but I am still getting like 6 glass a day.. and I have added exercise and this morning I am up almost a pound .8 :o to be exact.. aghhhhhhggghhh! I know sometimes it is the addition of exercise and it will give way eventually and I know I need to up my water back to 8+ a day...Anyone have any ideas how I can kick it all back into gear?...lol I hope you all have a great day and may God bless!!! :grouphug: CakeBatter 09-15-2009, 09:19 AM I have been looking for this thread....I know DUH! I was like well we aren't supposed to post in the Challenge thread...hehehe I did absolutely awesome yesterday! POP and 7 miles ran! Woo hoo! And I even thought about our BL Challenge on the way to the gym, which got me a little more motivated! SO here is to another day of awesome! I hope everyone has a wonderful day full of loses! BTW - [B]MSPERCEPTION[B] You look Fabulous!!!!! JayTee 09-15-2009, 09:28 AM Morning all...I'm new to the site, but am on the Red Team. Go Team! Can someone explain "the rules" to me. Do we weigh in Tuesday or Wednesday mornings and post it? Is there a thread explaining things? Ok, off to day 1 work out. Good luck ALL! MonteCristo 09-15-2009, 09:37 AM Morning all...I'm new to the site, but am on the Red Team. Go Team! Can someone explain "the rules" to me. Do we weigh in Tuesday or Wednesday mornings and post it? Is there a thread explaining things? Ok, off to day 1 work out. Good luck ALL! Weighins are due by 11:59 p.m (eastern) on Mondays, week one being due 09/21/09. Basically you post your weight in the weighin thread (you'll need to make a post to keep track of all your weighins in the TBL Fall 2009 - Red Team Weighin thread, and then update it each week. Then you need to post in the weekly chat threads. KimL1214 09-15-2009, 09:47 AM IgetfitNStrongforme~ Nice pep talk!!! Aclai4067~ I’ve been a little lazy with my blogroll lately but love reading others! SimpleRhythm~ I have so much respect for you! Social work is so hard! Cape Breton Chick~ Wow! Psycho day! My legs are super sore from the hike yesterday and we’re going on ANOTHER hike today...! UGH! I’m gonna be super tired for waitressing, but will sleep awesome tonight! Ms Perception 09-15-2009, 09:55 AM CakeBatter-Hey! Thanks for the compliment! I remember bumping into you in the monthly challenge threads a few months ago I think. 7 miles! Wow! That's great! I only run 2-4 miles per day 4 days a week. Someday I'd like to work up to more miles per day, but for now, this is enough. I'm adding days, though. I was doing 3, now I'm on 4, and by next month I hope to be doing 5 days per week of running. Anyway, keep up the good work!! KimL-Yeah, I keep forgetting I'm getting closer to goal since it still feels a long ways away. WTG on the hikes! Hiking is so great since it's tons of fun and an excellent workout! Yesterday was pretty great for me too. I lost the "weekend weight" and I'm back to my ticker weight. Now it's time to get serious and see what I can do for the rest of the week, month and year! Plus, I'm really looking forward to the season of TBL starting tonight!! I almost forgot and made other plans, then I realized it and told DH I couldn't go with him to the volleyball game! LOL I don't have Tivo right now or I could've done that, but I like seeing it "live" anyway. RangerChic 09-15-2009, 10:47 AM Can you please post all the members of the RED team again, I understand there we additions? Amber- great will power!! keep it up!!! chiquita623 09-15-2009, 03:42 PM Hey Red Team. Not much to report from me today. Just work, work, work. But I like the paycheck so I guess I'll have to suffer through it a while longer. Went on my lunch hour and washed my car. It was filthy and FH gets a little upset when I let it get like that. Looking forward to watching TBL tonight. Not a big Jillian or Bob fan but like the way the contestants make me feel inspired to do something about my health. I am going to do some exercises during the commercials. Anyway, I better get off here. I'll check back in either later today or tomorrow. Have a good night. And remember to be good to yourselves!! bradleys mom 09-15-2009, 04:19 PM Doing well here... I have only ate 700 calories so far, I gotta get some more in! I am thinking from all of the exercise I am retaining water in mucles as I have been informed that the water helps heal the muscles after workouts so they hold on to it.. Cape Breton Chick 09-15-2009, 09:20 PM Ah Man.. tears already and TBL has only been on for like 10 minutes!! lol I think this is going to be an incredible season!!! :grouphug: ellgee 09-15-2009, 09:29 PM Hi team! Watching TBL and it just really motivates me so much. Two good eating days AND I have worked out TWO DAYS IN A ROW!!!!:carrot: I think the week 1 challenge is going to be good for me. Have a good evening!! cakses 09-15-2009, 09:31 PM Hi everyone. Just a quickie as I am dying of exhaustion and need to get out of the office chair and go lay down. I made it through another day of commuting the kids an hour each way to school - man will I be glad when it is Friday and I move to my new house. My Mom and I had a huge argument yesterday which seems to have blown over (she like to pretend big arguments never happened, I don't but she's here to help out and I need it so I am letting it go). So today was much less stressful. I didn't eat very well for the little food I did eat, but I doubt it will do anything to my weight. I'm starting to get actually hungry which is more than a little annoying since I still can't swallow all that well. I think I am going to try some plain noodles tonight and head to bed early and just DVR my shows :) Scale said 197 today which is awesome but I hate losing weight without exercising - I feel like I am cheating haha. I will feel a whole lot better in another week or ten days when I am cleared to run again and I can eat normal food and sleep better at night. Hope everyone is having a great day and enjoy TBL tonight - remember there are people on the West Coast that haven't seen it yet so no spoilers!!! Ladybug2680 09-15-2009, 10:21 PM Hello all. I'm at the heaviest I've ever been and I'm so ready to get this weight off. I'm going good exercise wise and I'm fine foodwise until the evenings. I'm trying to decide if I want to count calories or do WW's. I probably need to do a little more research on both and then make my decision. Excited about getting started and kicking the Blue Team's butt. :) Aclai4067 09-15-2009, 10:28 PM You should be able to attend a free meeting at WW to try it out if you want. Ladybug2680 09-15-2009, 10:31 PM Ashley - Thanks for reminding me about the free meeting. I completely forgot. I think I have a coupon for a free month. IgetfitNStrongforme 09-15-2009, 10:53 PM Ah Man.. tears already and TBL has only been on for like 10 minutes!! lol I think this is going to be an incredible season!!! :grouphug: I have to wait another hour and seven minutes! :( CanadaMel 09-16-2009, 12:01 AM Wow- lots of chatter today- tough to keep up. had a good day at work & I enticed the kids & hubby to walk the dog with me & we checked out a new cafe near by. Kids had gelato- I had a lemon ice which was yummy :) Don't know when/if TBL is on up north & we don't have cable- so i'll read the recaps etc. zoochick777 09-16-2009, 01:21 AM Hey everyone! Well I did pretty good yesterday, but today was another story. I ended up eating pretty badly, and didn't get to exercise because the elliptical broke, so I did homework instead (which really needed to get done). I am also trying to decide between counting calories and weight watcher points, but I will be doing WW on my own. I counted calories last spring and lost 15 pounds in about 2 months. Then I got fitted for a bridesmaid dress and went on vacation the next day and got completely off track. I kept telling myself I had to maintain, not lose, so that I could fit in the dress and ended up gaining back 7 pounds (but didn't gain any inches!). Right now I am giving the WW points a try, hopefully it works! I'm having trouble fitting in the amount of exercise that I would like due to going to school 5 days a week and working the other two. But Oct. 18 will be my last day at work so that I can have the weekends to concentrate on school/exercise. I'll graduate in December then start my new job at a school. Well tomorrow is a new day, and even though I can't exercise as much as I'd like right now, I can be very careful about what I eat. So I WILL do better tomorrow. Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow. Goodnight Red Team! CakeBatter 09-16-2009, 08:51 AM Okay I so mega proud of myself for two reasons. 1. I have finally run a consistent 10:42 miles for 3 MILES (see I told I am still slow but I am so happy to be under 11:06 I don't know what to do) 2. I didn't feel like going to run yesterday so instead I took a nap (like an hour). When I woke up I felt bad for not running and was to eat something (emotional eater here ) but instead I told myself if I only run 3 miles then I would have done SOMETHING and then I can quit. :) Well I did my 3 miles at a 10:42 PACE :carrot: and I did quit :o but only because I got to the gym so late and absolutely had to be back at the house for by 8:00 for TBL! :D Kim – Seems like you had a pretty busy yesterday. How did everything workout? MsPerception – Yes the Monthly challenges. That is awesome what you are doing. Back when I met you were in the middle of moving and trying to stay focused. WTG Amber – WTG on NOT buying chips! Bradleysmom – I couldn’t wait to get home last night. I am so glad the season has started. It motivates me to work really hard. IDK why it just does. Angela – Are you teacher? Forgive I must have missed it somewhere. Also once you start weight training and working out in general (at least in the first couple weeks) when your muscles will retain fluid because they are recovering (lactic acid). Your body will eventually adjust. Just keep getting in your fluid and continue your plan like have been. Good Luck Igetfit – That is awesome what you are doing. Everything will go fine. Cakses – I hope you feel better Timeforme – It gets easier. And then as soon as you are comfy with 2 miles, you will just push yourself harder…LOL. You are doing great LadyBug – I do WW’s as well. I really love it!! Zoochick – I like your attitude. That is right today is a new day. A chance to start all over. And remember we are here for you! RangerChic 09-16-2009, 10:24 AM Just popping in real quick before my workout.... haven't watched Biggest Loser yet, as I was working and DVRed it. Probably won't get to it until Friday night unfortunately. Anyway, hope you all are doing well with your eating and working out! sweetandspicy 09-16-2009, 10:49 AM Hope everyone has a Wonderful Wednesday!!! I think that if I lacked motivation before watching TBL last night certainly gave me the motivation to continue. I usualy do not become emotionally vested in TV shows but I think within minutes last night I became vested. I even cried and I do not cry easily. My son had a football game last night and they lost big time and he is so down right now. It makes me so sad to see him emotionally defeated. I am sure this afternoon will not be any better as he will go to school and hear all the smack talk. I am just hoping it is not too bad. he did very well, but he just takes it all so personally just to be 11. I keep telling him even Peyton Manning looses games and thows interceptions and that when he was 11 he was not perfect either, but who believes what their mom says right?? Anyway, I did very well eating yesterday. I did not even think about visiting the concession stand during the game. That is one good thing about having your kids on the field. I am so preoccupied watching them, I could care less about snacks. I did not get any offical exercise but I chased and I mean chased Baby Andrew around for about 2 hours last night so that has to count for a little something, right? at least I was moving. So the plan for today is eating on plan and getting some exercise!! easy enough, I hope... Cakebatter- way to go on your running you are a Superstar!!!! bradleys mom 09-16-2009, 10:49 AM Oh, I am going to love this season of TBL! Everyone seems so nice! I know the meanness doesnt come out til later in the season though! I usually pick a team to root for but I am having a hard time deciding! I weighed myself this morning and I am down 3.6 lbs!! I cant believe it, I have been stuck at 280 since the baby was born, 10 months ago, (had no motivation to try to lose it!) IgetfitNStrongforme 09-16-2009, 12:19 PM GOOD MORNING REDDIES! Has anyone used a mini trampoline (rebounding)? I was thinking about getting one. JayTee 09-16-2009, 12:34 PM GO ALL YOU REDDIES!!!! It feels excellent to have made a decision to take back my life! Just worked out the entire 2 hours it took to watch last night season premier on tape. They should run the show 7 nights a week! chiquita623 09-16-2009, 12:44 PM Good Morning Red Team. Not much new with me. Watched the show last night. So inspiring. And such heart wrenching stories from everyone on it. Makes me grateful for the small problems I have in my life. Just wanted to pop in. Be back later. SimpleRhythm 09-16-2009, 12:50 PM Greetings Ladies! Doing as well as I can here...seeing as how my life has been absorbed by a huge bubble of stress...Just alot of cooking, a rehersal dinner for my friends wedding, and then the actual wedding on Sat. Hopefully by Sunday everything will calm itself down. Zoochick and Ladybug: I have done both WW and Calorie Counting and been successful with both. I love WW because of the accountability and support (if you find a good meeting!), and I love calorie counting because it is versatile and well...free! If it makes a difference, as I mentioned in a precvious post WW is running a promotion right now where you get two months for the price of one. Amber-: I agree, it's going to be hard to pick a favorite this season on TBL. Igetfitnstrong: When I lived with my Mom she had a mini-trampoline and I used it quite a bit. It was great to use while watching TV because it can be so mindless. Well, I'm off to see what comes of today...or rather what I can make of it! KimL1214 09-16-2009, 01:27 PM Ms Perception~ Congrats on losing the weekend weight! :dancer: AmberL~ Great job on making a good choice! :dancer: Timeforme~ Two miles is nothing to shake your head at! Great Job!!! :dancer: chiquita623~ Exercises during commercials is a great idea! JasonsLea~ What’s going on? Are you okay? cakses~ Yikes! That’s a lot of driving! I hope you’re feeling better! Ladybug2680~ I have some amazing weight watchers recipes if you want them! CakeBatter~ Amazing job with the running! Yesterday was chaos and resulted in my falling off the wagon a bit, but I survived! Mommyofsix~ I totally teared up also!!! JayTee~ Great job!!!:dancer: We went for another hike yesterday and not only did I go, but I made it to the top AGAIN! Two different mountains in two days, and I conquered both of them. I admit there was some serious heavy breathing and a lot of stopping, but I still made it! I was going to get up early today to go to the gym, but I was super exhausted from school, climbing a mountain, and then waitressing that I just had to sleep in until 6:30. Today is my roommates bday and I plan on taking her to a really nice restaurant that has an amazing salad bar, so I can still be good. Biggest Loser was awesome last night although I’m already annoyed with the first person they eliminated as I feel like her partner really wasn’t putting very much into the workouts, while she did have a break through with Jillian and pushed herself really hard. I love TBL, but I hate the whole “game” part of it where people get rid of others because they feel threatened by then… it is super annoying… Anyways! Happy Hump Day everyone!!! mythreesons 09-16-2009, 05:21 PM I am going to get a chance to rad through this all at some point. Life has been very crazy between the party we are having this weekend and all of the medical tests I am going through. I am doing okay with the eating. I am trying to get some walking in but I figure I am cleaning like a maniac and running around with the boys that should count as some decent exercise. I hope everyone is doing well. Hopefully by Sunday things will start to slow down and I can chat some more. Nicki54 09-16-2009, 05:56 PM :(Had my official weigh in today and I've stayed the same. So no weight loss from me to help the reds along. Sorry folks. I did try but to be totally honest I fell off the wagon and binged the last couple of days, which is also why I haven't been posting up my food. Nicki cakses 09-16-2009, 07:57 PM Still here, reading as much as I can when I have moments to sit. Down to 197.0 today. Hoping to get to 195 by Monday to make it an even 10 pounds. Still in agony and only jello is cutting it (and water of course). Tried soft foods and that was a BAD idea hehe. Hope you're all having a great day! Smileydd 09-16-2009, 08:18 PM the red team is ready to kick some butt!! We all want weight loss so here we go, we all like to win I know!! I just walked a mile and half- ready to jump start our success!:carrot::hug: mtiger 09-16-2009, 08:57 PM Okay this is how out of it I've been lately. I didn't even know this thread was up until just now. Being the second week of school has a lot to do with it. I am still trying to get everything scheduled and running smoothly. My weight is stuck, which is annoying the crap out of me. I'm eating approz. 1300 calories, working out everyday, all the usual stuff. The scale just won't budge. I will try to get here more when things settle down a bit at school. I am usually one to get on everyday, and crazy enough to try personals. i will get back in the swing, really!!! jayjay4444 09-16-2009, 09:23 PM Wow lots to read. Everyone seems to be doing a great job. For those of you who have fallen off the wagon it happens we just have to remember to get back on track and continue this journey. Tomorrow or your next meal can be a new beginning. I hope to start jogging more next week instead of walking so much. I will burn these calories/pounds away. Tomorrow I plan to do my weigh in. I sure hope all my calorie counting and weight lifting pays off on the scale. I'm still sore :dizzy: CakeBatter 09-16-2009, 09:50 PM quick check in - I was doing very well but fudged up dinner and i didn't run today. I will do better tomorrow. I hope to lose AT LEAST 2 pounds before weigh-in on Monday.*fingers crossed* zoochick777 09-16-2009, 10:30 PM Hello everyone! Good job to everyone for the weightloss and exercise achievements! I have also been very busy lately. I am taking 19 hrs this semester so that I can graduate in December, so I am in school Monday through Friday. Then 2-3 days a week I tutor my littler brother when he gets off of school. I also help my boyfriend and 2 other friends with their Statistics class both during the week and on weekends when I get off of work. Then I have to find time to do my own homework. So I haven't really been getting in the exercise I should be. I'm hoping my dad will fix our elliptical this weekend because I will get on that when I take breaks from school work. I did great with food today though, and I also woke up to a 1 lb loss this morning! I almost have all my water in for today, I'm only short 8 oz and will drink that while I study tonight. Have a great day tomorrow Red Team!! Aclai4067 09-16-2009, 11:24 PM :(Had my official weigh in today and I've stayed the same. So no weight loss from me to help the reds along. Sorry folks. I did try but to be totally honest I fell off the wagon and binged the last couple of days, which is also why I haven't been posting up my food. Nicki Just get right back on track. I know you can do it! Cape Breton Chick 09-16-2009, 11:50 PM Hey there ladies... poppin in for a quick hello.. I think I may have gotten over my lil water retention blip.. lol heres hoping lol.. I hope everyone has had a great day and evening.. O.. and CakeBatter, yes I am a preschool teacher/the assistant director of a daycare.. huge bonus is there is not much time to sit on my behind lol always moving... May God Bless :grouphug: Bette k 09-17-2009, 12:59 AM Hi Red Team, I'm going to try to get to the personals next week, this one seems to be moving at warp speed. Tonight was a funeral vigil (not anyone I know, but I was the person leading it), Tomorrow is the funeral during the day, and a meeting in the evening. Friday I do home visits and get packed for the weekend, and I'm back a tfaire for the weekend. It's going to be pirate weekend so that should be lots of fun. I'll also get to reconnect with some friends I haven't seen in a long time. I hope everyone has a great week! Bette K CakeBatter 09-17-2009, 07:02 AM Zoochick - Good Gracious you are a busy lady! I hoep you get your elliptical fixed. Angela - Aww that job sounds so fun! chiquita623 09-17-2009, 11:14 AM Good Morning Red Team. Not much new with me. But the day is still young I suppose!! I think I'll WI tomorrow and then again next Friday as I am going to Philly next Sat. to see my DD and her boys. Then I'll get back on track with my normal Sunday WI's. Sounds like everyone is doing well with the exercise and eating. Keep up the good work!! My eating has been right in the ball park calorie wise but I need to step up the exercise routine I think. Has anyone used Jillian's supplements? I've seen them advertised and just wondered if they're worth the money. Better go for now. I'll be back later today. Remember to be good to yourselves!!! bradleys mom 09-17-2009, 11:31 AM Hi ladies! (And gents?) Hope everyone is having a great day! It is gloomy and rainy here today, but I am at work, so that's okay. I forgot my water today so I am going to run to Target in a bit and buy a big smart water. I messed up a little last night (TOM is barrelling in) so I snacked on some of DHs corn chips. I had frosted mini wheats for breakfast and I packed nothing but healthiness for lunch today so, no time like the present to get back on track, right? CanadaMel 09-17-2009, 11:55 AM no time like the present to get back on track, right? so true and this is what making a lifestyle commitment is all about. SimpleRhythm 09-17-2009, 12:30 PM Good Morning Teamies! Not too much going on here...weight is up this morning, but I suspect it is water and will be back down by our first WI day. Today is work...business...cooking...business...cleaning... business...you get the picture. Good news! My sister has been talking about wanting to get healthy and lose weight for a while now and she has been experiencing all sorts of health problems (pre-diabetes, hormone wackiness, etc) which I suspect are largely due to the 30 or so pounds that she has gained this past year. In the past she has been very resistent to talking about weight loss with me as she never saw herself as someone who could lose weight without even trying. So the good news is she agreed to do a weight loss challenge with me! The challenge will span the 100 days between now and Christmas and we will WI once a week. The sister that loses the greatest percentage by Christmas wins a gift card to a clothing store which we are both (and my mother as well!) contributing money towards. I will of course still be doing this challenge, but what great added motivation! The challenge will be challenged will be blogged, but the blog isn't set up yet so I will give you the link once I do that. Have a great day! Ms Perception 09-17-2009, 01:38 PM SimpleRhythm-Great idea with your sister! I did a challenge with my mom last winter and it was one of the things that got me more motivated to lose. I'm doing okay, weight is down a touch today and food and exercise are OP, but I'm just not feeling great. I'm tired, moody and have a touch of a cold. I just want to lay down and rest all day. Ya know, maybe I should. Maybe this should just be one of those days I don't make myself feel like crap for feeling like crap! LOL Well, I'll let ya know how it goes. Timeforme 09-17-2009, 01:45 PM Nicki54 ~ You can do it! KimL1214 ~ Wow! 2 Mountains in 2 days!!!! Awesome job! CakeBatter ~ Congrats on your running pace. That's great! Mommyofsix ~ I hear ya with your son and football. My son is the exact same way with his baseball team. bradleys mom ~ Congrats on your 3.6 pounds! Tomorrow is my weigh in day. I should have a pretty significant loss since I did my starting weight as soon as we could post it and these have been my first few weeks following WW and exercising. I can feel my wedding ring spinning around my finger, which was tight before the challenge, so I think that's a good sign! MonteCristo 09-17-2009, 02:06 PM Had a bit of a blow out yesterday. Ate almost 300 calorie too many. Fortunately my last two days were pretty low, so I'm still at 1500 average, but I felt pretty gross last night. I have managed to recapture 25 of the 40 minutes I skipped on yesterday, so all in all the week is looking pretty good. My siblings will be with us this weekend, so I'll be less likely to randomly snack (kids have supersonic hearing for snack food, and do you know how quickly 7 kids will go through your treats?!?) I am really feeling confident that I'm going to see another nice drop on Sunday. KimL1214 09-17-2009, 04:21 PM Nicki54~ Keep posting your food anyways, it will help you stay more accountable and make you less likely to have more binges. cakses~ I lived on popsicles and broth for almost four weeks when I had my tonsils out so I know how you’re feeling! I hope you start feeling better soon! mtiger~ Try mixing things up… like a new workout or upping your calories for a couple days, then going back down… often that will help kick start your weight loss zoochick777~ WOW, crazy schedule!!! Bette k~ I love pirates!!! That sounds like a blast!!! SimpleRhythm~ That is awesome that your sister is going to do a challenge with you! Timeforme~ That’s awesome about the wedding ring! I love when my rings start feeling loose! MonteCristo~ Seriously! My roommates kids are all over me the moment I open anything packaged! The school day is finally over, but I still have to waitress tonight. I’ve been struggling more with food lately and I think it has a lot more to do with not getting enough sleep. I try to go to bed early and end up lying awake for a good hour or two. Nothing too exciting here… FRIDAY IS ALMOST HERE!!! shea5 09-17-2009, 04:37 PM Hey fellow red team members, you are all sounding so motivated and it is very motivating to read how well you've been doing. I've been kind of down this week, and not following plan exactly, but I am avoiding binging and getting some exercise in. I think I just need to plan out my week to the letter next week, and it will go better. I did catch the BL last night off my DVR, and it was a tearjerker. I can't decide who to root for yet, but I will definitly be tuning in. mtiger 09-17-2009, 05:25 PM My official home weigh-in is tomorrow. I was down just a wee bit today. So tonight I am doing a long walk/jog. Maybe I'll try eating more calories today and see what happens. I do so many different types of workouts that I know I mix up my exercise. So maybe I can try mixing up my food. It's worth a shot i guess. dcapulet 09-17-2009, 07:21 PM hello red team! having a bit of trouble getting my exercise in this week... studying, home stuff, just everything. on the days i run, no problem. but i haven't established a strength routine yet, and the days have truly been just FILLED. im sure things will calm down next week, and then i can get into a more structured routine. and i am looking to make my 300 min exercise goal for this week. CakeBatter 09-17-2009, 09:11 PM hey red team!!!! I happy to report I have not gained weight due to TOM and I also ran 8 miles today. I have also met my exercise minutes goal. WOOT WOOT! Check back in the morning! Aclai4067 09-17-2009, 09:13 PM Hey all. My normal weigh-in will be saturday but this week I'll be weighing in tomorrow b/c I'm heading up to my parents' for the weekend. I'm not too sure I've lost anything in addition to last week's 4.4 lb loss. I'm just getting back in the gym this week after being sick at the beginning of the month, and my body is still adjusting. Can't wait to see how our team does this week. Go Red! bradleys mom 09-17-2009, 10:00 PM hey red team!!!! I happy to report I have not gained weight due to TOM and I also ran 8 miles today. I have also met my exercise minutes goal. WOOT WOOT! Check back in the morning! 8 Miles!!! Wow, go girl! IgetfitNStrongforme 09-17-2009, 10:23 PM I was bad today I didn't get to exercise my normal 135 minutes of cardio and I eat a small bag of cookies (780 calories). I let my cravings and not feeling well get the best of me. ellgee 09-17-2009, 10:27 PM Hi All! Well tonight I met my Week 1 Challenge minutes and am really happy with myself because I HATE to exercise! Question - so I usually weigh in on Mondays but want to change it to Friday. Will tomorrow's weight be what I use for our 9/21 weigh in? Now that I typed this, it sounds dumb.......it would be my 9/21 weigh in weight, right? Thanks! Cape Breton Chick 09-18-2009, 12:04 AM Hey Ladies.. I hope you all had a great day.. I am doing well with my exercise.. very proud of myself!! Today was Day 4 of W1/L1 of Biggest Losers Cardio Max and I was able to get through the whole thing with 0 "breaks" to get water and breath a little.. so a little milestone for me lol I am looking forward to my work out everyday now and am hoping that by mid - late October I will be training to start running again using the C25K program. I am so curious to see the scale on weighin day..lol and how well we have all done! have a great night every one.. :grouphug: and may God bless... zoochick777 09-18-2009, 12:14 AM Hey everyone. Weight loss total for the week is now 2 lbs! That was my minimum I was hoping for this week. Today was pretty good. I ate well, and I'm pretty sure I aced my test today in Comparative Psychology. My dad fixed the elliptical today so I'm planning on going spend 15-30 minutes on it before bed. Then I'll wake up early and exercise some more on it tomorrow morning before class. I've been drinking plenty of water so hopefully I'll lose more before Monday's official weigh in. I just hope I'm not getting sick, my throat has been hurting most of the day. I guess only time will tell. Goodnight all Robot 09-18-2009, 12:27 AM Hi everyone. Sorry I haven't been very chatty. I think I'm coming down with the stomach flu. Or at least it feels like it. Cape Breton Chick 09-18-2009, 07:36 AM Happy Friday Everyone!!! :dancer: sweetandspicy 09-18-2009, 09:34 AM Happy Friday to you all. I am so happy so many people are posting by the end of the last challenge there were just a few of us left posting but it was easier to keep up with everyone. Not to much to report. My official weigh in is tomorrow so hopefully another pound is gone. I have been quite bloated lately so I am working on that. I did squeeze into some jeans I have not worn in 3 years. I am happy I can wear them but what drives me crazy is they are actually abigger size than the jeans I wore earlier this week. I wish sizes were more regulated. I have worked diligently this week to clean out my closet and get rid of my bigger clothes I am taking some to consignment and others to good will. My husband did the same and we finally have room in our closets. I mentioned room to buy more but he rolled his eyes at that idea. Hope everyone has a great day!! MonteCristo 09-18-2009, 09:41 AM ellgee - You can weigh whenever you want as long as you have it posted by the deadline. So if you are weighing on Fridays, then this Fridays weight is the weight you will need to use for your post. And of course you can go ahead and post it as soon as you weigh, you don't have to wait until Monday. I was just reading through the posts and Cakebatter just reminded me of something I was trying to forget. Remember how optimistic I was about what I would lose this week? I just remembered that TOM is going to hit me right on my weighin day. :( I just hope that I've lost enough so that I can hide that stupid TOM bloat..........otherwise I'm going to be very upset! Timeforme 09-18-2009, 12:52 PM Hi Everyone! Today was my weigh-in day. I can not tell you how excited I was to see......259.6 this morning!!!! A loss of 11.2 pounds! I've been following WW old "quick start" which only allows 20 points no matter what you weigh. A couple of days ago I switched to the old 1-2-3 Success Program and upped it to 28 points. It's been hard, but sooo worth it to see that number drop. I know much of it was water, but it still made me smile! MonteCristo 09-18-2009, 12:54 PM Hi Everyone! Today was my weigh-in day. Red team's gonna rock the weigh-in this week. I weighed in today as well and was pleasantly surprised to see a 2.2 lb loss. That in addition to the 4.4 from last week makes an overall 6.6 lb loss for week one weigh-in. Woot! shea5 09-18-2009, 02:28 PM Woot!!! Way to go on the weighin, for both of you :) :carrot: ellgee 09-18-2009, 02:32 PM Thanks for the info Montecristo. Hopped on the scale this morning and after being sooooo good all week AND exercising, I am up .2 from Monday. I may wait and make Saturday the official day. BUT from starting weight I am down so no big worries. Have a great day! KimL1214 09-18-2009, 04:03 PM shea5~ I haven’t figured out who I’m rootin for yet either… CakeBatter~ 8 MILES!!! WOW!!! zoochick777~ Awesome! 2 lbs. is great! Mommyofsix~ Yay for fitting into those jeans! Timeforme~ WOW!!! Great job!!! Aclai4067~ YAY! Congrats! Have a great weekend everyone!!! JayTee 09-18-2009, 07:17 PM Thank goodness you are all out there. I just shipped my last one off to college and I now feel as tho at least my red teammates depend on me. Down 5 lbs. this week headed into the weekend and I'm determined to keep it that way! Good luck to us all this weekend! mtiger 09-18-2009, 08:21 PM I have finally mad a little movement on the scale. I am back to 179.6. I have seen this number once and am happy to see it again. Now I must go lower. You will all learn very quickly that I go up and down like crazy. It just seems to be how my crazy body works. It is hard to deal with, but I have learned that I just have to stick with the plan and eventually good things happen. I also lose very slowly, but it ain't comin back on. Lizzyg 09-18-2009, 08:30 PM I just need to whine a little. I've realized that I've been basically the same weight this whole summer. I keep losing and gaining the same 5 to 7 lbs. Its driving me crazy. I looked at pictures from the end of July, and I was 232. I'm 230 now. Some of it is my own fault, but then sometimes its just my stupid body, and then regardless of how well I do during TOM, I still gain 3 to 4 lbs, and then it takes a week to lose that weight again. ugh. I think I need to cut my calories. And actually stick with counting everyday again. *cries* I want to be under 230!!! Jaytee - 5 lbs is great!! ANd Mtiger, it sounds like our bodies are similar. RangerChic 09-19-2009, 12:00 PM Hi everyone, hope you had a good week. I am so happy that it's the weekend finally! Anyone have any ideas for a week 2 challenge? Let me know, I've got a few, but would like some team input on it. Keep up the good work team! :) JasonsLea 09-19-2009, 03:47 PM  girls. Sorry I've been MIA, I've been in such a funk the last week or so. I did manage to take care of two things so that less I have on my mind. I feel a little better. My eating has been pretty good except yesterday when I had a marathon reading session fueled by Pepsi. :dz: I'm on the hunt for a second job.....again. I hope you are all doing great! Smileydd 09-19-2009, 03:57 PM :carrot:I am so ready for the weigh in, of course only someone who lost weight would be happy. I am ready for the red team to bring home the glory~:carrot: jessicado22 09-19-2009, 04:20 PM Howdy everyone--just checking in! Unfortunately that jerk TOM has just hit and the scale went up 4 freaking pounds this week. Today 3 1/2 of it is gone, so hoping will actually have lost some weight from the beginning of the week by the weigh in on Monday. I guess even if I don't lose any weight this week, I have lost 14 pounds since our first weigh in, so that will be a good weight loss none the less for our team! This week challenge has been really difficult for me to meet. I set my workout minutes at 550 for the week, but DD has been pretty sensitive this week, and the childwatch people keep coming to get me after she starts asking for me, so I have not been able to get in my full workouts like I wanted. Normally I would have just not worried about it, but because of this challenge, I have been working out at home too so I can meet my goal. If I am able to get in 1 hr and 40 minutes in today, I will have met my goal...so I am really hoping I can fit it in today! Lizzyg 09-19-2009, 07:46 PM finally! I am under 230! 229.8 :D Cape Breton Chick 09-19-2009, 09:14 PM Way to go Lizzy!!! :yay: Hey everyone!!.. Just checking in to see how everyone is.. I had a crappy day.. emotional stuff and the weather is beyond fall-ish.. howling winds and cold rain.. blah..so i ended up snacking way too much out of sheer boredom on top of the emotional triggers.. I managed to get my water all int hough so hopefully will help a lil.. lol 3 workouts planned for tomorrow... now it is time to get to bed so that i can get up and accomplish that tomorrow lol I hope you all had a great weekend, good luck with the weigh-ins! May God Bless :grouphug: shan84 09-19-2009, 09:38 PM Well I just posted my first weigh in. I'm really disappointed in my number because I did stay on plan for the past two weeks. However, I only lost 3 lbs. I did lose 6 1/2 inches though. I'm not giving up and I can't wait to see what I can do for the rest of the BL challenge. Go RED TEAM! cakses 09-19-2009, 10:16 PM Hi all, just a quick pop in to let you know I have officially moved into my new place. Of course I forgot my scale but I will pop over to Target tomorrow or Monday and use one of theirs haha. I'm sure I will have a big number, as I have just recently been able to tolerate semi-solid food. It's awful when you want to eat and physically can't. Speaking of which I am due a dinner of mashed potatoes and applesauce. Hope everyone is have a POP weekend so we can rock the Monday weigh in!!! bradleys mom 09-19-2009, 11:33 PM Hi Reds! I have had a horrible weekend. TOM is kicking my butt, I stayed in bed most of the day today. But, I nought the 6 week BL bootcamp today and plan on starting tomorrow. Wish me luck! jessicado22 09-20-2009, 01:38 PM Alright ladies, my weigh in day for the week is Sunday instead of Monday, and even though TOM is still sticking around, at least this morning all the weight I had gained when TOM first arrived is officially gone. Still didn't lose any weight this week, but that means I should have a good number next week when TOM is gone! Anyways, for my first weigh in from my starting weight, is a 15 pound loss! :carrot: Go Red Team! Nicki54 09-20-2009, 01:55 PM I'm still here and cheering everyone on the red team on :carrot::carrot:. It's looking good for me to have a weight loss next week. Bathroom scales are showing a loss of 3lb, and my weigh in day is Wednesday. So  from me and although I may not post everyday I'm still around and a committed member of the Red Team. Nicki Cape Breton Chick 09-20-2009, 01:57 PM Hey Nicki.. Way to Go on 3lbs.!!! :yay: but don`t forget to add your current weight in the weigh in thread for the red team before midnight tomorrow night! :) IgetfitNStrongforme 09-20-2009, 02:15 PM Wow everyone is doing GREAT! :woohoo: Lizzyg 09-20-2009, 03:23 PM Thanks!! I was at 229.0 this AM! And saw 228.6 when I moved. :) :carrot: Seeing 229 on the scale this week really helped me stay with counting my calories, and resisting buying bad food. I feel good! Awesome Nicki! 3 lbs is great! I'm sorry to all those members who had a visit from TOM this week! I know how much it sucks! I always gain at least 3 to 4 lbs during TOM. MonteCristo 09-20-2009, 05:27 PM My weigh day is Sunday, and I weighed in at 169.0. An overall loss of 1.6 from the beginning of the challenge, but the same as last week. Since TOM hit this week and I usually gain 2 pounds, staying steady seems to be pretty good to me. :D JasonsLea 09-20-2009, 05:51 PM OMGosh everyone is doing so fantastic, TOM and all! :broc: We are going to kick azz this weigh in. :D WI was good today, I got rid of all the water weight from last week and a smidge (.4) of actual weight. :) Can't wait to see this week's results! :grouphug: zoochick777 09-20-2009, 09:43 PM Hey everyone, I've been really busy the past few days. Tons of homework and lots of tutoring other people. I also had a funeral to go to yesterday, so haven't gotten in much exercising the past few days. I posted my weigh in for the week..171, a 3 lb loss. Hopefully I'll be able to keep a loss like this every week. tinabinab 09-20-2009, 10:30 PM Hiya all! Just checking in finally. Been a crazy week at work, then on Thursday I found out that my thyroid test results were not good, so we upped my dosage of Synthroid. Uhg, so frustrating... I wish I knew at what point I should think about seeing an endo instead of just going through my gp. (I was diagnosed in November, so I'm still trying to figure it all out...) Had a good on plan week, although I didn't walk as much as I would have liked. I will be working on that this week and praying for at least a 1 lb loss this week... Anything will be better than the half lb gain of last week. Anyway, I am off to drink some water and put my little monkey to bed. We spent a good portion of our day at the Dinosaur Valley Park, so I think we're all ready to hit the bed. :) Hope everyone has a great on-program week!! Go red! Ms Perception 09-20-2009, 10:56 PM Just a quick check-in since I've also been busy the last few days. I'm not sporting a major loss this first weigh-in and I'm bummed. But at least it's a loss and I will make sure this doesn't happen again. This last 3 weeks has probably been my worst in 6 months. I am not gorging on food or eating way off plan, but I've had SO SO much going on it's really made it difficult to stay focused and make good choices and progress. The worst of it is over, I think, so I will move on and be the LOSER I know I can be! LOL Nicki54 09-21-2009, 02:20 AM My weigh day is Wednesday so unfortunately I've already posted my weight which last Wednesday was the grand total of 0lb! That was one of the reasons why I changed eating plans and went back to Atkins which from previous experience works the best for me and it's the easiest one for me to stick to as well. Having weighed myself this morning I can tell the group that my weight has gone down further but I won't say by how much just incase there's a blue lurking in our thread but it's looking good.:woohoo: Nicki dcapulet 09-21-2009, 02:23 AM Checking in, kinda late, I know. I'm sorry! Weight loss for this week is 0. I also needed to pull my self out of the exercise challenge because I am ill. I hope I can beat this thing so I can get back into the fight! RangerChic 09-21-2009, 02:49 AM So so busy, hope you all are good...please get your weigh-ins in today! Thanks! :) CakeBatter 09-21-2009, 08:30 AM I did pretty well this weekend and I am quite proud of that! I got on the scale yesterday and I am back at my lowest weight :D :carrot:. I will weigh once more today at the gym and post it to the thread! I hope for a few ounces at least! Pleeeeease! Everyone is doing so well! Nicki and Zoochick - Congrats on 3 POUNDS Jessica - 15 pounds....AMAZING! :carrot: Cakses - Glad you got all moved in. EVERYONE:  sweetandspicy 09-21-2009, 09:53 AM I report a 1.4 pound loss this week, wish it was more. I have not been strict enough on my calories and my exercise. I also did not get in all my water this weekend. Life just seems to get in the way. chiquita623 09-21-2009, 10:11 AM Hi Red Team. I posted a big fat 0 this week. No gain but then again no loss. I went to the dr. last week and she said my thyroid is all out of whack again so we're in the process of trying to get those meds adjusted. I asked her why I'm struggling about losing weight and she said that my thyroid is most of it, also I'm menopausal so that also comes into play. So I'm going to try my best not to get too frustrated by it and continue on. I've been sticking to my 1500 calorie limit but not getting in enough water or fruit or veggies. So starting today I'm going to try to get that down pat and work on that seriously this week. To everyone that posted a loss this week - GOOD JOB!! I'm so proud of you all!! To those of us that maintained or gained - We'll be more determined next week and the blue team better watch out!! Better get to work. I'll be back later. Have a good Monday. Luckybustert 09-21-2009, 10:55 AM Hi everyone! Hope you had a great weekend. I just posted a loss of 5.2 pounds for Week 1 so I'm doing the happy dance over here :carrot: chiquita623 09-21-2009, 11:03 AM Yea Suzanne!!! Nicki54 09-21-2009, 11:08 AM :bravo: Suzanne!!! Nicki JayTee 09-21-2009, 11:19 AM Hi Reds! I've posted a 4.5 loss for the week. I hope that helps us! Timeforme 09-21-2009, 11:38 AM Hi Red Team.....haven't checked in for a couple of days. Very busy weekend. Having trouble getting back on plan today. I better get back with it! Keeping my fingers crossed that Red wins this week! MonteCristo 09-21-2009, 12:06 PM I hate to be the post police, but there seems to be a little confusion about the weigh in thread. Each member should only have one post, which they will edit each week with their new weight. If a new post is made each week it will make it much more difficult for Shannon to tally up the results. Now back to your regularly scheduled broadcast.... IgetfitNStrongforme 09-21-2009, 12:26 PM Despite being sick and unable to exercise because of that, I still lost 5.8 lbs! I am going back to bed to rest. GO REDDIES! KimL1214 09-21-2009, 01:42 PM JayTee~ 5 lbs! Great Job!!! jessicado22~ Did you reach your fitness minutes goal? 15 lbs. is AWESOMELY AMAZING!!! Lizzyg~ Congrats on breaking through 230!!! shan84~ 6.5” lost is HUGE! BE PROUD! MonteCristo~ Congrats on 1.6 lbs! zoochick777~ Congrats on 3 lbs.! tinabinab~ Great job staying OP this weekend! Luckybustert~ Congrats on 5.2 lbs.!!! IgetfitNStrongforme~ Congrats on 5.8 lbs!!! So I was psyched to see 264 this morning which means I’m down 6 pounds!!! I can only imagine what I would be down if I paid attention to what I eat more accurately. My acid reflux has been out of control for the past couple of days, so that has limited some of what I eat, but I still get it from just about anything. Hopefully I can get my meds this afternoon to fix that. My roommate just got a black lab puppy, so my plan for exercise today is to take her dog for a long walk (he is amazingly good on a leash for a puppy!). My weekend was kind of dull as I spent most of it working, but at least I made some good money (which will disappear shortly as my check engine light came on last night). Happy Monday everyone! bradleys mom 09-21-2009, 02:15 PM Well, now that TOM is almost over, I am beginning to feel strong again. Believe it or not, I actaully got through the whole 30 minutes of the Level 1 workout on the Biggest Loser Bootcamp dvd. DH bought it for me Saturday night! I dont own any dumbbells so I used progresso soup! lol jessicado22 09-21-2009, 04:33 PM I am kinda confused. I was told we should use our starting weight from our first weigh in (before the 8th of the month), and then this is our first official weigh in? That is what I did, thus the 15 pound loss (no way did I lose 15 pounds in one week, lol!). However it seems alot of people on here are posting their weight from just last week instead and just counting their loss from this week, instead of the past three weeks. Did I do it wrong? Aclai4067 09-21-2009, 04:56 PM You did it right. Some people weighed in with their starting weights sooner than others, so that can be one cause for a larger loss. And also, 15 lbs in 3 weeks is awesome! Way proud of you for that, I lost 6.6 in that time. MissVitality 09-21-2009, 07:30 PM Hi ladies, Just popping in very quickly to say HELLO!!! Things are a bit crazy for me at the moment so hopefully get more time to chat soon. Hope you are all well xxx dcapulet 09-21-2009, 09:32 PM hi everyone... hopefully this week will be better. i think my sickness has almost gone away, so i am looking forward to getting back to exercise.
