Hey ladies!! Shannon just put this thread up and I am the first one here. How fun.
Today was my first day back at school with students. It was crazy and hectic and so was after work. I don't have long to chat but wanted to say that TOM is moving through this week and I should be able to lose some. I was 180 today. I got many compliments today. That was fun. Lots of people asked me how much I have lost now. It feels so good to say 70 some pounds. When I tell them I want to los 30 more, they are shocked. if they saw me naked, they would understand.

Can't wait for this challenge to start. Let's have fun!!!

Howdy, howdy, howdy!

I'm Laura and this is my first challenge! I'm married, have two kids, a daughter, 19, in college and a son, 17, a junior in high school. I'm a former labor and delivery nurse and now work for a group of ob-gyns handling the financial side of the practice.

I am really excited to start this challenge! :carrot:

Hi Red Team
I see so many familiar names and lots of new ones too. I'm looking forward to this challenge, but I know there will be some roadblocks along the way. DS is going to be back for 3 weeks the end of this month, and we are going to celebrate. He is going to be stationed in an ajoining state for a while so no more long separations. I also have a big wedding reception to attend in October. But my plan has always been to count calories and to not deny myself if I really want something, but I make sure it is exactly what I want and not a substitute which usually means I don't get it.

Here's my intro for those who don't know me: 50 YO, 2 children, DS is almost 20 and in the Army (he's been gone for a year) DD is 8 and in 3rd grade this year. DH and I've been married for 28 years and own a family farm. I work for my church part time and I'm looking for something fulltime. That's pretty much me in a nutshell.

Hope everyone has a great week
Bette K

Photographer? Nice. I am a freelance photographer who has been taking pictures now for over 12 years.

As far as the plateau goes, I've been battling one sort of for awhile now myself. I have too been zig zagging. I was able to hit 129.8 before my vacation on August 25th, but am now back at 130.5. Stinks how our bodies seem to like certain weights, huh?

Hello Ladies!!

I am so happy to be back on the RED Team - where I belong! Lol. It's lovely to be back with so many of you who have supported me in the past and it I'm looking forward to getting to know new people too!

Hope you are all having a good week. I can't wait to get this Challenge started - I'm so excited!!!

For those who don't know me, I am Lisa and I am a 30 year old HR professional. I love exercise but have been out of action for 3 months due to a knee injury and I am just starting to get back into it. I managed to regain 16 pounds (yikes!) in those 3 months because apart from not been able to exercise, I throw myself one big long pity party and ate junk food like it was going out of fashion!! More determined than ever now to shift the weight and build my strength and fitness back up.

This is a great place to be - the support is phenomenol - and I know that together we can help each other to rid ourselves of our excess baggage!!

Speak more soon

Hi Ladies! I'm glad to be back on the Red Team.

I'm 23 years old, single, and live with my Dad. I had got down to 154 a couple months ago, but had some really bad family stuff completely blow my program out of the water, and I managed to leap back up to 170 in the blink of an eye. My program is basically numbers in vs. numbers out. I try to stick to an average of 1500 calories per day, and to burn at least 350 calories per day. I basically let myself eat anything as long as it fits into my calories, but I do limit sugar (occasional glass of tea, sliver of BD cake, etc) and I'm trying to get in at least one fruit and two vegetables each day. I hope to reach my ultimate goal of 142 by April 1st.

Have a great day!

Hello Red Team!!! I am glad to be back in challenge mode. I missed my weekly monday weigh in. I almost just posted my weight out of habit. I did loose about 8 oz this week, any loss is good, but I was really hoping for more. I wonder if that had to do with the fact that I did not have to weigh in? Well to introduce myself to the new red members My name is Amy and I am a mommy to 6 boys and I work full time as a social worker for Neglected and Abused Children. My husband is somewhat supportive of my weight loss but he gets irriated at me when I say I can't have that or thats not on my plan. So that is slightly frustrating but I am learning to ignore it. We have had several children sick and missing school and I have 3 that play football for parks and rec so I have not been stricktly on plan the last month but I hope to get all that straightened out soon.

This is my second biggest looser challenge. I really need the accountability of a weekly challenge and hope to not let you guys down. I am starting calorie counting today. I sort of have been calorie counting for the past few months, but I was more following LA weight loss trying to eat specific foods and specific amounts. Now I am going to concentrate on a sepcific amount of calories and I am going to log my calories on Dailyplate and keep track of them that way. I still plan on limiting carbs and sugar but not depriving myself so much. I am starting to increase my exercise as well. I have been doing the 30 day shred for the past month and am happy with the results but did better with walking/jogging in intervals and alternating leg and arm weights each day. Now that the evenings are not so humid I will resume the walking.

I look forward to getting to know you all better and I am looking forward to the challenge. Shannon will be a wonderful team leader she is great about posting and keeping up with everyone.

Mindy- I am very happy all your co-workers were so postive about your weight loss!!! What you said about them not seeing you naked was hilarious. I am not sure where I saw this but yesterday I read an article about plus size models and the fact that they are only a size 10 and there was a girl from England who wants to be a plus size model and she is a size 14 and they said she was too big, they put a picture of her naked, now it was very tasteful and showed nothing but her stomach which was akward and loose much like my own. Anyway just thought I would shared that.

Bette- sounds like you have a plan, I am glad you will get to see your DH more

Canadamel- good to see you!!

I will post more later!!!

Good morning! My name is Kristine. I am currently a SAHM to three boys (ages 4, 3, and 14 months). 5 years ago, I had almost reached my goal weight and hen I got pregnant again and again. So, now I need to lose about 75-80 lbs.

In addition to counting calories, I am planning on walking and strength training at least 6 times a week.

I look forward to chatting with everyone and getting to know you all better.

GO TEAM RED!!!

mtiger~ Wow! 70 pounds is amazing! Great Job! :jig:

Cape Breton Chick, ellgee, weightlosswanted, CanadaMel, RangerChic, crcossel, Losing4another, dcapulet, mythreesons~ Hi!

bradleys mom~ I love 30DS! It kicks my butt! :kickbutt:

Bette k~ Sounds like you are going to have a busy couple of months!

shan84~ I’m an English teacher also… not in as exciting a place as you are though… sounds amazing!

MissVitality~ Yikes, knee injury… what happened (if you don’t mind my asking)?

jayjay4444~ My sister trains dogs also and has a husky sled team.

MonteCristo~ Sounds like a great system you have!

Mommyofsix~ Wow! Six kids!!! That's incredible! :dizzy:

I’m a 25 year old struggling teacher who is currently working as a paraprofessional in a self-contained program at a high school (we have the hardest kids in the school, all together, very entertaining at times), and waitressing nights just to keep my head above water. I got out of a really mentally and physically abusive relationship in May and have really struggled with my weight loss, well not just since then, really since I’ve been with him. So there has been a lot of yo-yoing over the last 4 years, and I’m really hoping to stop it now that I’m on my own. I’m hoping to be able to afford a gym membership this weekend and start going ASAP, but money is tight, so I may need to find other ways of being active. The group I teach with goes on hikes at least twice a week, so that helps (we went on one yesterday and I am really feeling it today), but I’m not getting out enough after school (with the exception of when I’m waitressing). I can’t wait for the challenge to start!!!

Amy neglected to mention that she was team red's summer challenge biggest loser!! WTG Amy!! An inspiration to us all!!

My husband looked at me like I was nuts when I said I was at my halfway mark. This cimng from the guy who has never had a weight problem & could be considered underweight. Grrr

A quick intro- my name is Mel, 41 with 3 kids 2 daughters ages 9 & 5, and a son who's 7. I work part time at an Apple retail store. Just hit the half-way mark on this weight loss journey this past monday which has had apositive motivation effect.

I look forward to getting to know everyone & hope you all have a great day.

Mel-

I can totally relate. My husband weighs only about 2 lbs more than me right now and he is 5" taller. I recently realized that he has lost more likely because I now cook healthier meals and he is eating probably 1000 calories less a day than he needs to maintain his weight and maybe gain a bit of muscle. I'm not sure what to do....

KimL - the knee injury was caused by one moment of absolute stupidity! Long story but here goes......!

I was in a restaurant and towards the end of the evening, I came back to the table and (stupidly!) kneeled on my chair to chat to someone who was standing up. My feet were tucked under the seat of the chair. I lost my balance and me and the chair hit the ground hard. Because my feet were tucked under, I was unable to disentangle my legs before I hit the ground and I landed with my legs bent and my full weight landed on my left knee. I have never felt pain like it!!! My friends started laughing (what good friends I have?!) but quickly realised something was wrong and had to lift me off the floor as I couldn't move my leg. I spent 3 hours in the casualty department of the local hospital. I had badly damaged my posterior cruciate ligament.

Let's just say I won't be kneeling up on a chair ever again!!!

It has seemed like a long way back from injury and it's been very frustrating and I've been so restricted in what I can do. Now is the time to stop feeling sorry for myself and just get on with it!!

thanks for asking xxx

I am glad you have made the move to get yourself out of an abusive relationship - time to put yourself first. Good for you!

Jen

Hi all. My name is Jen, I am 41, mom of 2...a 7 year old boy and a 1 year old girl. I am married (my husband is a foot taller than me and weighs less than I do) and work as a RN, (but I aspire to be a photographer!) right now I am sort of between jobs, I have a part-time job in a hospital but the hours aren't working out for us at home but I'm trying to get a job in a physician's office, just waiting for some interviews, that would make life a lot easier around here. I've been overweight pretty much all my life and I'm really getting serious about losing right now. I feel like for years I've been lost in the shuffle of being married, working and having kids. Now it is time to do something for me! I started a liquid diet a week ago and it is working tremendously. I know I have a lot of work ahead of me to get and keep control of my eating once I come off the liquid diet. Also I really need to get into the exercise mode as well because I feel like a big tub of jello right now. I'm really looking forward to this challenge, hoping that it will help keep me on track with my diet program and motivate me to get into an exercise plan.

Hey all. I'm Ashley. I graduated from Uni last December with an Art Education degree. The job search hasn't been going so great; I've been lifeguarding and managing a pool since graduation. But I finally got myself on the sub list for a couple counties. I've just recently started substitute teaching and I'm still getting used to it. As far as weight loss, I've lost 30 so far on WW, and I'm hoping this challenge wil give me a good boost! I've been out of the gym for about a week with a rough cold. I still have a bit of a cough. So I don't know if my respiratory system is up to cardio yet, but I'm gonna test it out today. Go Red Team!

KimL- Do you have a YMCA near you? They're usually willing to work with you on price and have no contract (just cancel 30 days in advance). I only pay $20/month for my YMCA.

Hi Red Team. My name is Laurie and I'm 53 yo. I live with FH and have 2 kids and 5 grandkids. They all keep me busy. I am calorie counting and hope this challenge will be the kick in the pants I need to get serious about things!! I got down to 173 in March but then went on vacation and gave myself permission to eat whatever I wanted (because I deserved it) and haven't stopped since. Needless to say I gained 16 pounds in no time flat. So I would really like to get those 16 pounds back off by the end of this challenge. If I don't get them all off, I will be happy with any loss. I'd also like to start exercising more. Right now I really don't do much so my plan is to do something 3 times a week to start. Be it riding my bicycle, walking round the lakes, using the eliptical - which is in my basement, or simply doing DVD's. Something!!!

Anyway, enough about me. I see lots of familiar faces on here and look forward to getting to know all of you. I have done several of these challenges - first starting on the black team and then on the red team. I've finished a couple but the others I didn't fare so well. I am determined to stay with this challenge until the end. No matter what the scale says. I will give encouragement to my fellow teammies and a swift kick in the behind when needed as well.

I better get off here for now. Just wanted to pop in real quick. I'll be back later. Be good to yourselves. You deserve it!!

I guess I should have properly introduced myself...

I am Kimberly, Mommy of 2 boys, 3 years old and 10 months old. I have been married to my wonderful husband for over 4 years. I lost 50 lbs back in 2007 on LA Weight Loss and the got pregnant in 2008 and gained it all back. I am miserable with my weight but happy with my life, which I am guessing why I cant get motivated to lose weight again. I am looking for lots of inspiration and motivation here. My friend is sending me a copy of the 30 day shred and I cant wait to get started. TBL Show was my biggest inspiration back in 2007! I am so excited for the show to start! I plan on buying a Red BL shirt from ebay to wear while I am exercising!

Hi ALL. I am so excited to apart of this challange and to be apart of the RED Team! I am 26yr old, engaged to be married next June. I have lost 48 pounds to date and I am struggling to lose 12 more! We are planning for a baby in the next year so I want to be as healthy as possible and also to stay in shape during pregnancy. I hope to reach my goal of 150-155 by the end of this challenge. I am looking forward to getting to know everyone and also to give and get support. It really is key in my WL.

Hey guys, I'm new to your team, I was one of the missed messages about weighing in, so was added today. I'm Meredith, am 35, and have 2 kids, aged 3 and 4. I was overweight but always pretty healthy in high school and college, playing sports. Now I've let myself go, with having 2 kids so close together and working a stressful job, and here I sit at 247.6, trying to get rid of the extra weight. I've lost about 15-20 lbs from my highest weight, but it has been very slowly, over the last year and a half. I want to lose it faster, but I need some motivation and accountablility. I'm going to be monitoring my calorie intake, and trying to get back into exercising. I'm looking forward to being on the Red team, and getting to know everyone.

Hi Fellow Red Team Members! I am a married, 39 year old stay at home mom with 2 sons. This is my first BL challenge and I'm so excited. I just started my weight loss journey last week, when I posted my starting weight and I've lost 4.8 pounds so far. There's nothing like the thrill of the first week back on plan! I'm looking forward to all of the mutual support and motivation that's offered here!

CakeBatter - CONGRATS on your upcoming wedding. I am sure you will look stuning!

Hi everyone. I'm Amber, 45, and a SAHM to two boys away at college. This is my first challenge but I needed to extra support since all the things that use to take up my time are no more. I am a "bored or stressed" eater. I may be a little quite to start off with because even on the other side of the computer I'm still a little shy.

I walked 2 miles yesterday. Major accomplishment since I don't like exercise.

CanadaMel~ Congrats on hitting the halfway mark!!!

MissVitality~ OUCH!!! This might make you feel better… I dislocated my knee attempting to slide into third base while playing in a town softball game last summer, when I hadn’t slid into any base since I was 12… I landed with all my weight on my right knee… (picture a good sized woman planting her left foot into the dirt only to end up on her right knee, followed by her face) I laughed about it, ended up getting batted home, then ran to the porta potty to yak as I went into shock and pushed my kneecap back into place. There were over 100 people watching, so I was totally embarrassed…

Jen~ Good for you doing something for yourself!

ceegee, wfonseca3017, shea5, Timeforme, AmberL~ Hi!

Aclai4067~ No YMCA nearby unfortunately, but if I get a year membership at the one in town, it’s only $40, compared to the $80 monthly charge…

chiquita623~ Yay! Kick in the behind will be needed often here!

bradleys mom~ I feel you on not being happy about our weight, but loving life, I feel the same!

CakeBatter~ You look AMAZING!!! Weight Watchers Thread… You were always so great at pushing everyone so I’m super excited to be in a challenge with you!!!

I found an awesome chili cheesy mac recipe from weight watchers that I plan on trying out tonight! Lots of moving today, so I feel like I’m really starting to get on track… I’m being super impatient though as I can’t wait for the challenge to start!!!

JasonsLea, Robot, MrsVegan00~ Hi!

IgetfitNStrongforme~ 91 lbs. is AWESOME! Great job!

CakeBatter~ I totally have TOM right now also and am fighting with myself constantly about food.

Cape Breton Chick~ I used to be crazy active too, but just like you, slowly went down to just work activity… We can push each other!

So I have TOM right now which I am going to blame for my flop at McDonald’s last night even though I know it’s really an excuse. But for now, until I get stronger, TOM will probably be one of the hardest times for me to get through. We’re going to be hiking today, so I should get in a pretty decent work out in! The Cheezy chili mac was AMAZING last night, and I had plenty left over for lunch today, plus I froze 4 more containers of it for later on. I’m going to try to make one dish/week, freeze some, so I have a variety of choices within a month or two…

Just thought I would pop in and say GOOD MORNING!:coffee2:

Trying to get some chores done thins morning and then going over to my sister's house this afternoon to play with her kids. Tonight I go to my weight loss group. Fingers and toes crossed that I lost some weight. It has been a particularly emotional few weeks for me and stress = eating.

Hi Angela! It is amazing how we slowly (and unknowingly) make lifestyle changes that lead us to ain weight. With all of the support here, we will succeed!

Hi MrsVegan - UGH working at a bakery! I would love to spend the day baking but the oh so delicious smells...I wouldn't be able to resist!

Amber- I, too, am a stressed/bored eater. Try to replace it with a hoby or exercise. YAY on the 2 mile walk!

JasonsLea, Robot, Red - HI!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Hi! I did pretty good on the eating front yesterday (stayed under my cals, ate only one veggie, but had two fruits). I didn't get in any exercise though because it was midweek visitation with my siblings (my mom is divorcing Dad and has temporary custody, I live with Dad) and my Grandma was there. But today I'm going to exercise no matter what happens! I always tell myself that I shouldn't be selfish, and that it isn't really that important that I can't miss a day or so, but I start to get cranky and mean if my routinue is messed up too long, so it really is better for everyone if I just get my exercise done. ;)

Dad and I both work full time, and we are used to having dinner ready for us when we get home, so living on our own is quite an adjustment. I'm going to try doing freezor meals, where I make a week's worth of meals at one time and freeze them, then we'll just have to pull them out of the freezor and heat them. My first cooking day will be Friday afternoon, and I'll let you know how this works out.

Good Morning Red Team. Not much new with me today. Still off on vacation (until Monday - YUCK). I have a work dinner to go to on Saturday so am going to try to make good choices. Normally there aren't many healthy options. So maybe I should eat some carrots and a fruit before I go and then just watch my portions. We'll see how that goes.

I have decided not to weigh myself until we WI for the challenge. I just want to see if by watching what I put into my mouth and writing it down if I can do this. I think that without the stress of the scale for the next couple of weeks this may just be a little easier to get into the swing of things.

Better go for now. Gotta go to the fish market to get some fresh fish for dinner. Be back later.

Hey ladies! Excited to be part of this challenge (my first one)....I am actually much more of a Bob fan, but I shall still be Red team member wholeheartedly!

As for an intro--basically I was a "normal" weight my childhood and then in my Jr year of highschool I gained like 100 pounds in 3 months. No one could figure out why. I struggled with the weight alot and managed to lose it a few times with Low carb diets, but it would always sneak back up. Finally a few years ago I managed to keep the weight off for awhile, and then I got pregnant and gained weight like crazy. An ultrasound revealed I had a dermoid on my ovaries. Basically in highschool my body had apparently decided it wanted to be pregnant and decided to make a baby all by itself! It explains why I had always had such a problem with my weight, as my body has been acting like it was pregnant for years on end (also explains why my TOM stopped coming!). The doctors were amazed I had been able to actually conceive and said that the baby was a miracle. They were finally able to remove the dermoid my 5th month of pregnancy, and then my weight gain did slow down. But still by the end of the pregnancy I weighed 310 pounds. I was mortified, but determined not to do anything drastic diet wise that might harm the baby.
After giving birth, I did lose some weight and got down to about 265. However, no matter how much I worked out or watched my diet (I never went under 1800 calories as I had heard how unhealthy that was if you were breastfeeding) I couldn't lose anymore weight. I finally gave up and over the next two years I got back up to 310. I tried once more dieting in those few years, this time lowering my calories to 1500, but again not seeing any results. I kept active and went for alot of bikerides, but no weight loss. Finally about 2 1/2 months ago, I decided DD is now over 2, and I NEED to start losing weight even if it affects my milk supply. She is still not weaned, but is eating plenty of solid foods. I lowered my calories to about 1200 and started exercising. The weight finally started to come off. I now weigh 260 (I have lost 50 pounds in the past 3 months) which is the smallest I have been since this whole pregnancy weight gain started!

I have been drinking mothers milk tea as well this whole time, and am still lactating, which is good as I would feel guilty if it had stopped the milk. I had planned on weaning her in Sept a few months ago, but long story short, I have just dealt with a separation from her dad and we have had to move twice in the past 2 months and she isn't able to see her dad right now which she is taking hard, plus she is now starting day care as I am now working (I was a stay at home mom before). I didn't think it was appropriate to wean her now with everything else going on. I started the diet about 2 weeks before the separation, and have kept with it despite everything going on, and am really proud of myself for not turning to food in a time of stress!

Well that is pretty much my long intro, lol. Looking forward to this challenge! I just started watching the BL seasons for motivation recently and am now addicted. I got a bunch of the BL workouts, and think this challenge will be really helpful with a new season online that we will be doing in "real" time (the episodes will be weekly instead of me watching an entire season in a few days, lol).

Oh one quick question--in the weigh in thread, are we supposed to post our current weight, or the weigh in weight we signed up with last week?

mythreesons~ Do you do weight watchers or something else?

MonteCristo~ Did you get your exercise in?

bradleys mom~ I was thinking about getting her book, is it worth the investment?

chiquita623~ Having healthy snacks and drinking lots of water before you go is a great idea!

jessicado22~ :welcome:

IgetfitNStrongforme~ I’d be up for an exercise buddy! :running::exercise::lifter::ebike:

So we just got back from our hike and my legs are feeling pretty weak, so I’m not sure how waitressing is going to go tonight, but I’ll have to push through. My biggest problem is still dinner and controlling what and how much I eat. I do great with breakfast and lunch because I bring the stuff with me to school and don’t have any extra stuff hanging around to munch on like I do at home… My roommate is one of those super skinny people who can eat anything so there is all kinds of junk food hanging around in our house. I know I should ask if we could cut down on junk food and increase our veggie/fruit amounts, but I know she’s short on time which is why she relies on junk for herself and her kids… k, I’m rambling… Have a good night everyone!!!

IgetfitNStrongforme - Sure, why not? I'm not really into real formal exercising. Occasionally I'll get on a kick and start using weights and stuff, but not very often. Seems to much like work. Usually I just walk in the neighborhood or jump around the house with my heart rate monitor on until I work up to 350 calories burned (usually takes me an hour or so). But I'd be happy to be a Red Team Exercise Buddy!

KimL1214 - Not yet. I'm still at work right now. And I have a TON of errands that I have to run on my way home, then finishing up dinner (crockpots are great!), and after dinner I have to do an electrical inspection on a house I'm buying, plus do some grocery shopping. :dizzy: But I'm going to try really hard to get it in. Luckily we live in a lovely neighborhood so it is safe to walk after dark (especially since Dad has me carry pepperspray & my cell phone at all times, and sets a timer for when I should be back ;) )

I'm going to try not to whine to much, so if I get out of hand, somebody please stop me (seriously). I'm just going through some big adjustments right now, but I know that things will settle down and get better. Though I am pretty ticked at myself for gaining so much weight back.

Have a good evening Reds!

sharongracepjs- no worries about not having seen the show. Basically we're all here losing weight in whatever way works best for us (WW, Calorie Counters, South Beach, etc.) The competition just serves as motivation to stay on plan, and you're team is your support group! We weigh-in every week in our team's weigh-in thread. The winning team and the overall biggest loser will be determined by highest % weight loss.

jessicado22- post the weight you signed up with!

Hi MonteCristo,

Well a few others want to be buddies as well and I think a group is a great idea. So I have started a RED TEAM thread, where we can post our exercise and food everyday. And if you want and it's okay with you and the others we can PM each other when we don't post, just to give extra encouragement, not to beat up, just to encourage each other. http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/biggest-loser-challenges/181502-red-team-exercise-food-accountablity.html

Also don't beat yourself up we all slip and fall but we just need to get up and continue walking the path.

Hi ladies,

Just quickly stopping by to say HI!!!

Hope everyone is having a good week. I've got back into exercise this week after my injury and although I have loved it, my body is not thanking me for it now!!! I ache all over but it's a good kind of pain, lol.

I have been eating well this week too although some bright spark in my office brought in bags of chocolate treats for everyone and sat them directly in my view. How cruel of them!! I mean, my name is Lisa and I'm a chocoholic!! Pleased to say i only had two mini treats (150 calories in total) so I minimised the damage.

How do you deal with situations when you you are presented with food you love and it is calling your name but you know you shouldn't?

KimL, I think it is a great investment. Especially considering I bought the Ebook so it was only like $4. Everytime I ate something today I thought about things Jillian said in the book and I actually looked at the labels and understood them!!! I havent finished it yet, but hope to tonight!

If I've been OP for the day- then I will allow myself to have some- but will focus on the size. I don't like to deny myself anything, and it's been working for the most part. I still get 'cravings' at different times of the month, but they are not pendulum swinging, out of control ones like they used to be!

IgetfitNStrongforme- I saw the exercise/food thread- I'll probably just post exercise there as I do my food intake on my iPhone & don't want to have to double post as my time on the computer is limited. Hope that's okay?! Whatever it takes to make sure it gets done & stay OP!! Thanks for the initiative.

Welcome Jessicdo22!!

Of course it is, I just post my food so I will not run for the ice cream. It's my way of making myself accountable to my Red Team. I have a very bad fat & sweet tooth....I love ice cream...and sadly it loves me too, it's on my thighs right now. LOL

Hi everyone!! :)

I'm excited for this challenge, and its great to be on the red team again! It goes with the red sparkley theme I have in my signature :)

This week has kind of sucked for me, TOM, and so I'm looking forward to getting back on track, and getting out of the 230's! :) My goal for this year was to get under 200 lbs by the end of the year. I'm not sure if I'll make it or if its even doable, but I'm ready to get to work and get as close to it as I can!! :) And I think this challenge will help.

Hello Red Team friends!

I have three days of good eating under my belt and yesterday worked in the yard for over an hour pulling weeds. My legs and back are aching today - it's so awesome to be 45 and have your body get angry when you decide to do anything physical. ;)

Sounds like everybody is getting in the challenge mood!! WOO HOO!!

I have three days of good eating under my belt and yesterday worked in the yard for over an hour pulling weeds. My legs and back are aching today - it's so awesome to be 45 and have your body get angry when you decide to do anything physical. ;)

Sounds like everybody is getting in the challenge mood!! WOO HOO!!

Ellgee, I find the more I do the more I can do as far as exercise.

:woohoo: Go RED Team!

Hi Red Team,
It's great to see how active we are in talking to each other. I may not get here to post and write a lot of personals, but I do try to keep up on the reading.
It's going to be a great weekend, I get to combine 2 of my favorite things, I'm going to be demonstraiting basket weaving at a rennaissance faire for the next 2 weekends. The only problems I might have is what to eat. I'm going to be camping and working all day, I'm thinking about loading up on apples and bananas. I don't have a camp stove so I won't be able to get my eggs for breakfast on Sunday. It's only going to be about 3 meals I will have to worry about, and I'll take a sandwich for one of them, it should keep. Maybe a group will be going out on Saturday night and I'll make do with the fruit the rest of the time. I need to take my bodice in quite a bit, it is way too big now to hold anything up. I'll do it in the morning after my elliptical time. I want to pack everything up tomorrow so I can leave early on Saturday.

I hope everyone has a great weekend

I AM SOOOOO EXCITED

GO RED TEAM!!

Okay so to introduce myself. I'm 25 years old, I've been overweight since I was a kid and I'm finally trying to get fit -- I'm now around 203 lbs...I gained a few pounds after hitting 199 recently and falling off the wagon unfortunately..(not sure if it was water weight or not..) But now I'm sooooooooo ready to get back on track and push myself harder than before.

I grew up in a family where I was the only girl and at 5'8 the shortest sibling --so my brothers were all a bunch of big tall guys that ate football player portions which I ended up eating along with them too = ( of course leading to my weight gain at a young age. I've never stayed under 200 lbs since I was 14 and for this biggest loser challenge I just really want to get under and stay under 200 lbs. My ultimate goal is 150/160lbs. I really need accountability.

Okay, I stayed totally on plan yesterday! Day 1 is in the bag!! Remember how I said it takes me an hour to burn 350 calories walking? See I usually walk with my Dad, and apparently I walk a lot faster by myself, because I ended up getting in my 350 burned in about 40 minutes! Of course I'm out of shape because I haven't walked since I got back from my hike in Scotland, so my heartrate is probably a little high, but that should fix itself quickly.

MonteCristo~ Wow, crazy day! I also love crockpots!!! No more whining… ;)

MissVitality~ Great job controlling yourself around the chocolate! :chockiss:

bradleys mom~ Thanks! I’m gonna try to order it either this weekend or sometime next week.

CanadaMel~ Those are some great observations on your cravings!

Lizzyg~ Getting under 200 is definitely still a good goal and I bet you can do it!!!

ellgee~ Three days! AWESOME! I usually make it until about dinner time and then fall apart…

Cape Breton Chick~ I love that your avatar is an old pic to help motivate you!

Bette k~ Sounds like a great weekend! Have fun!!!

caliyah~ No worries, we’ll help push you along. Consistently under 200 is definitely do-able and you can do it!!!

Work was super busy last night which was good because it left me very little time to eat. I hate when it is super slow because that is when I end up sitting around and ordering junk food. I had a hamburger patty, no bun, with A-1 sauce and a little dish of apple sauce and was surprisingly satisfied with it. My calves are really sore from the hike today, but I’m starting to remember how much I love that sore feeling. Hopefully it’s the motivation I need to finally get a gym membership this weekend. I will check in this afternoon, but then disappear for the weekend as we do not have internet at my house…

GOOD MORNING everyone!

Kim- Great job on the food choices and YAY on the hike (although the sore calves are no fun, it makes it feel like you really exercised).

As for the weight loss group, I belong to it is called TOPS. It is a group of peopel who get together for weekly weigh ins and then a short program. It helps to keep me on track.

MonteCristo - That is great about the burning 350 calories in 40 minutes!:carrot:

caliyah - WELCOME! I hear you on be the shortest (I am one of 5 siblings and am the shortest at 5'8") Although I have two sisters who can eat whatever they want and not gain weigh (PBLTH!)

bradleysmom - WOOHOO on doing well!

Hi elgee!

Lizzy - I understand the desire to get under 200. Just keep working the best you can and you will get there.

MissVitality - I like CanadaMel's response to your question. Have a bite or two of the food that you are craving. Hopefully, that will help satiate your desire. If you keep denying yourself, you will end up over indulging.

I had my weigh in yesterday and I lost 2 lbs (WOOT WOOT) Today, my day is filled with chores and children. We are having a party next week and I need to get this house ship shape. I am also planning on starting Jillian Michael's 30 day Shred. (Wish me luck!)

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!:broc:

Ok, so I doing just ok. I am still on my "plateau" sort of. I hit TOM and feeling rather crappy. Also having trouble eating all my calories. I am actually finding that when I don't eat close to 2000 calories I don't lose (I'm pretty active) and the last few days since emotionally and hormonally I'm all screwed up I'm having trouble eating...blah!

Good Morning Red Team.
mythreesons- I didn't know TOPS meetings were still around. My mom went to them when I was young and I can remember going to a few meetings with her when school was closed. Do they still pass around a hat and everyone puts in $1 and the biggest weight loss for the week gets the pot? I always thought that was so cool when I was a kid!

I've been doing well so far but I'm a little worried about the weekend being here. I always find it hard to stay on plan. Hopefully, being part of this team will keep me motivated to stick with it even though its the weekend!

KimL1214
09-11-2009, 12:47 PM
mythreesons~ TOPS sounds cool! I’m hoping to start something here at school but I don’t know if there will be enough people interested. Congratulations on 2 pounds!!! :jig:

crcossel~ Have you tried mapping out your food ahead of time so you could see where you could add some calories?

Timeforme~ I have a hard time with weekends too. I noticed that you and I are the same height and within a few pounds of each other, kinda cool!

The day has gone alright so far although I had one pretty big slip up. My co-worker is having a baby next month so we threw her a baby shower today… and there was cake… and I had a piece…so that is my one slip up for the day. I’m really gonna push myself to not cheat or eat anything evil for the rest of the day…

mythreesons
09-11-2009, 03:53 PM
Timeforme - Yes, it is still around. We still do the $ basket for the biggest loser (I won $10 last night). We are a small chapter, which is nice b/c you really get to know each other.

As for staying on plan for the weekend, try to schedule your meals and have lots of fruits and cut up veggies on hand so that if needed, you can grab them easily before candy or chips.

Kim - IMO, you had the cake, not a huge deal. Just continue on plan for the rest of the day and you will be fine.

Since I teach school adn just started back this week, I feel kind of out of the loop. I am usually much more active on the boards. It will get better as i get more settled into my school routine. I am still kind of stuck around 181ish and since it is post TOM I am looking for a whoosh, which hasn't come yet.

Someone said they have to eat around 2000 calories to lose. I try to hit 1300-1400. That is what I have been doing all along. Maybe that's not working anymore. But what do I do???

Tomorrow I am doing a 5k race. I will walk/jog it. I'm not trying to break any records, but my own. Last one I did in 38 min. I just want to beat that. Wish me luck. Gonna go check out this workout/eating thread now.

Alright everyone, just checking in for the day. Funny thing is I just reached 2 major goals for me (getting to the 250s and also losing 50 pounds) and I have been forever promising myself a cheat day when that happened....but now I feel kinda guilty going out and splurging after joining this team! Stupid accountability! Of course, I mainly stay low on my calorie intake, so last time I "cheated" it actually jumpstarted my weight loss again. Sure, however I can justify it! Whether I do or if I don't cheat tonight (am only giving myself one night to do it, it is not going to be "well, I didn't do it last night, so I'll cheat tonight" kinda situation), I am still going to put in another really heavy night working out tonight. Am planning on an hour cardio and 1/2 ST circuit training at the gym again.

Okay, I thought about it and decided not to really cheat. I was planning on pizza, but after posting on here and feeling guilty, I have decided to just have some Ben and Jerrys NF frozen yogurt I have been saving in the freezer. Not something I normally eat, but now 1400 is my total calorie intake for the day instead of 2000+ with pizza!

Cape Breton Chick--thanks! And dog walking sounds like a much funner exercise than going to the gym, lol!

Cooking oil spray
1 pound cut up stir-fry fresh vegetables, such as asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms, multi-colored bell peppers, red and white onions, zucchini
2 garlic cloves, mincedSalt and freshly ground black pepper (optional)
1 cup pizza sauce or tomato sauce
2 tablespoons olive relish or tapenade
2 tablespoons sun-dried tomato bits
1 (12-inch or 10-ounce) prepared thin whole wheat pizza crust
1/2 cup (2 ounces) finely shredded part skim mozzarella cheese

Heat oven to 425F. Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until hot; coat with cooking spray. Add vegetables and garlic; stir-fry 2 to 5 minutes or until vegetables are crisp-tender. Season to taste with salt and pepper, if desired. Combine pizza sauce, olive relish and sun-dried tomato bits. Spread over pizza crust; top with cooked and cheese. Bake pizza directly on oven rack 10 to 15 minutes, or until crust is golden brown and cheese is melted. Cut pizza into 8 wedges.

Trust Crust
To bake your own whole-wheat pizza crust, it requires 25 to 70 extra minutes from start to finish including time for yeast to do its thing. In a small bowl, combine about 1 tablespoon of dry yeast and 1/8 th teaspoon of sugar with 1 ½ cups of warm water. Let that sit for 10 minutes. In a separate and large bowl, combine 1 ½ cups whole wheat flour, 1 ½ cups all-purpose (enriched) flour (after you've tried this on your family for several times, you can gradually increase in ½ cup lots the whole wheat to all purpose flour ratio to 2 ½ cups whole wheat to ½ cup all purpose). Add 1 teaspoon ground kosher salt to this. Mix this well. Then add the yeast mixture to this, and mix by hand thoroughly. Add 1 tablespoon olive oil. Knead for about 2 minutes until dough is smooth. Cover bowl and let rise in warm area until dough has doubled in size (20 to 60 minutes). Punch (use your fist) down dough and knead for 1-2 minutes. Divide into 4 equal portions (extra portions can be stored in your refrigerator). Roll into balls, and preheat oven to 450 degrees. Lightly coat a baking sheet with olive oil. With a rolling pin, roll one of dough balls on rolling board or on baking sheet (add flour if dough sticks to pin too much) and flatten into 10 to 12 inch pizza crust circle. Poke with a fork 4 to 6 times. Bake for 5 minutes. Remove from oven, then add ingredients.

Hi everyone. I am so glad to be back on the Red Team and hoping to post some great numbers this season.

My name is Cat for those that don't know me. I am 29 and a SAHM to two boys ages 7 and 5 1/2. My hubby is in the Army and he's gone a LOT so I emphasize with all you single Moms out there. It's hard work! Both of my kids are in school this year (although the wee one is only part day) and I am excited for ME time!

I have had a lot of ups and downs in my weight loss journey. Last February I had gotten down to 170 pounds and I let myself go again, for about 101 reasons. None of them look good now, but back then it was the end of the world. Now I sit here starting the competition at 205 pounds and although I should be angry and annoyed with myself, I've decided all the negativity doesn't help and I am just focused on moving forward and watching this weight come off again. I am planning meals with the help of my Mom and making exercise a daily priority, not something I try to schedule in my day. I'm a big loser when I am on plan, but I'm a big gainer when I fall off the wagon. I have a lot of experience with exercise, so if anyone needs ideas to freshen up their routine, send me a message!

I just had surgery today so I won't be on much for the next few days. I had a tonsilectomy and had a mole removed on my face. Needless to say I am drugged up, exhausted, and feeling a bit crappy. Good news is I'm forced to follow a strict diet for the first two weeks, which although it isn't the healthiest, it will actually set me up really nice to start my own eating plan when it's over. The cravings for junk will already be gone since I can't have it for two weeks. I also can't exercise for two weeks but I will be doing some yoga or pilates starting in a few days to keep my muslces flexible. I have lots to look forward to - I move in a week and my new neighborhood has the best running trails! Before surgery I gave my treadmill a dusting off and I can still run 2 miles without dying so I am glad to see all is not lost.

Anyways, I am off to go pass outfor the evening. I am super excited to get this started, to help our new members when they have questions and be a good support for all. I've missed you, and this competition, greatly!

Cat

Hi everyone let me introduce myself to you all.

I'm 55 years old English and live in the UK married with one daughter. Stay at home Mom whose idea of exercise before this has been searching for the tv remote or walking around shops.

Having said that I have joined a local gym and I am commited to working my butt off and to stick to my eating plan.

The bad news is that 2 days ago the results of my mri/xray/blood tests came through and I have arthritis in my left knee, right hip and left ankle. The good news is that my blood pressure is normal, cholestrol is within acceptable limits and there's no sign of diabetes.

Anyway that's me in a nutshell, looking forward to chatting with you all and encouraging everyone to reach their full potential.

Hey RangerChic! I hope you feel better soon. There have been some nasty bugs on the go this year so I hope it doesn't hang on to long :) Be sure to get lots of rest and take good care of you!

Cat, I want to first of all give you huge props..it takes a very strong woman to be a military wife. I have been there, my relationship did not work out in the long run, not because of his job or the lifestyle, but because we simply grew apart.. especially when he cheated..lol but that was a long long time ago and now that I am older just see it for what it was..a life lesson :) I hope the recovery from your tonsilectomy goes smoothly..ouch..and i think it is great that you still have a plan in place for low impact type exercise while recovering.

Good for you Nicki! making that commitment to yourself to go to the gym is something in itself to be proud of, and try not to stress too much about the arthritis, I am sure if you were to ask someone who works at the gym you've joined they would be able to show you effective exercise that will not aggrivate it! You are going to do awesome!

Hi Red Team - I have a lot going on right now. I need to leave shortly to go out of state for a couple of days. I plan to really start my diet on Monday. I have been able to substitute my junk food with apples and carrots. I've walked a couple of times but really can't "start" until I get back into town.

Hopefully, when I get back I can catch up on all the posts.

Have a great weekend.

Happy Saturday Red Team!

I was up every 3-4 hours last night with pain, but luckily that is when I was able to take more medicine, so it worked out well. I'm much more sore today and am taking advantage of using a paper and pencil to "talk" although I forget to a lot. It's hard to shut me up!

I'm down a few pounds already, not a surprise at all. I'm still feeling pretty crappy to do any yoga/pilates/weights but I am sure by Wednesday or so I'll be feeling a whole lot better. I haven't had any ice cream to date though :) I got real fruit bars (frozen) and mostly have just been drinking a low-fat smoothie and drinking a lot of water. Food will come soon I am sure - I can't see myself only wanting this stuff forever LOL.

Today my Mom's driving us to drop off another load to Goodwill and to pick up some stuff for moving. I move in 6 days and I'm so excited! It's a brand new house and although I didn't get to pick out the options since it was already over halfway done when we bought it, it's all mine to do whatever I want to. I just wish DH was home, but he'll be back in a few weeks for a litle bit before going to yet another training. I don't know if I mentioned, but he is headed "over there" for the 3rd time early next year. So I am wanting to have my weight down and a very good plan in place before he's gone so I don't fall off the wagon when I am sad.

So, I hope everyone has a great day and I will try to do personals as soon as I can!

Good Morning Red Team. Not much new to report with me. Went to the laundromat this morning to wash comforters and blankets and such. What a fun place - NOT!! Makes me grateful to be able to do this at home at my convenience!!! Have a work dinner tonight. They are having steak, baked potatoes, green beans, salad, rolls and cheesecake. My plan is to eat some veggies before I go and just drink water while I'm there. I'll still eat but will watch my portions. I just hope I can avoid the cheesecake!!!

Shannon - Feel Better Soon. We need our leader!!!

Cat - You feel better too. Don't stress about the weight gain. It happened and you know what needs to be done to get it back off. Just focus on that. Don't beat yourself up.

Hi to everyone else I forgot to mention!! I'll be back probably tomorrow. Have a good night and remember to be good to yourselves!!

KimL1214 You're right, our "stats" are very close! We will have to motivate each other. I read your "intro" post and I must say that you have a lot on your plate (figuratively that is!) with working 2 jobs. Your paraprofessional teaching position must be stressful as well. I have a lot of admiration for teachers who can help in that type of classroom.

Thanks for all the well wishes, feeling better today. Wish I could be working out, but obviously that's out. The good news is, I'm back down to my pre-vacation weight today (129.8). So, the one pound or so I picked up while up in NY is gone. Makes me happy. My ultimate weight goal is 122-125 lbs.

Hello team, I woke up still tired, but decided while I don't want to aggravate my sickness, I'm not letting it win my days either. So, I ate breakfast and went out for a walk. Unfortunately, it started to rain a little more than halfway through my workout. So, I ran most of the way back home. Not sure it was the best idea recovery-wise and all, but I did it. Anyway, I feel okay right now, a little drained still though. I just downed a water with added whey protein that I picked up last night when I did wonder out of the house to get a movie (GNC in the same plaza, decided to see if they had Jillian's new supplements). It's not bad tasting and it's natural. For those curious, it's Designer Whey Protein 2Go in French Vanilla. It's a packet that you just add to your bottled water. Only 50 calories for 10g of protein. Be careful though, some of the other packets have artificial ingredients, but this one is all natural, so look for that.

Now, I'm working on finishing writing up a blog post I was working on pre-walk and then I'm going to get ready to go out. Going to take it easy with my errands, but they must be done. Whole Foods is my last stop, as I am anxious to get some coconut milk. Hard to find, but delicious stuff. They let me sample it last weekend and I loved it (vanilla flavor). I normally drink almond milk, so this is a great alternative to change things up for me in the morning for awhile. I heard of it from Jillian Michaels' tweets, she was talking about how good it was. She wasn't kidding. I just wish it wasn't so hard to find. I did request my local Publix carry it (they are the most organic/greenwise location around the area).

Anyway, going to start a new thread since the challenge starts this week! Have a good Sunday everyone! :)

 girls!

So I woke up this morning, got on the scale, and wondered how in the **** did I gain 2 lbs when I ate pretty well and got in some good exercise this week?! I wasn't expecting a big loss but come on. I got my answer this afternoon.....TOM. :dz: I'm relieved he came this week though since TBL challenge starts next week. Not changing my ticker cause I know it's water weight and I'm going to be good this week so next WI will be good.
