Hi Blues!

Sorry I've been away for the past 2 weeks (for those who were in the last challenge) I had company over for awhile. Really takes most of my energy to have people over 24/7... but I think I've recovered.

My Tri went really well. I had lots of fun and I'm making plans for next year already. By then I hope to be at goal.

Nice to see new and old faces here!

Dixied - thanks for going above and beyond to help us all!
Nixmom - congratulations! What a motivation!

So glad to be back in a challenge. Couldn't come at a better time. I was having severe sciatic nerve pain and haven't worked out in like 3-4 weeks. Have put about 6 lbs. I had promised myself I would never be in the 180's again but I am. Can only go down from here.

Dix-Thanks for all your hard work! We all appreciate it!:D

Good morning team!! This is my first BL challenge and I am looking forward to it :carrot: I did my C25K workout this morning (W4D2). I have a healthy lunch packed and had a good breaky. Not sure about supper plans yet as we are waiting to hear from a friend about going out for supper. I already have a healthy choice decided on if we go out and a healthy supper for home thought up if we don't go out.

Econ- I am doing the c25k too. I am going to do w5d2 today after class. I am still recovering from a severely fractured ankle late feb, so I might have to repeat a couple days as they get harder, but it looks like we are close to the same place in the program. We can keep each other going. btw, I thought w5d1 would be killer, and it wasn't so good luck.

Thank you, thank you girls, for helping me celebrate my engagement!:grouphug: You ladies rock! I am thinking June 2010 for the wedding and need to start doing sit ups immediately.:dizzy:

fauxtini - No kidding about change since we last talked to you! My thought and prayers are with ya on the relationship front. I will be virtually kicking your butt here to ditch those lbs. And I must say, I spent 8 years alone as a single mom BY CHOICE because I needed to spend some time on me. It was scary, and frusterating, and exhilerating, and much needed. You will heal, and there is peace in learning about yourself through it. You are a beautiful girl with a spirit for life and you will bounce back! We're here for ya!

Gatorgirl and Econ - I am going to start C25K again tonight. W1D1. I can't wait to be able to say I am at W5!!!! And Econ - glad to see ya on the threads again!

Bigsexy -Could your avatar be any more tender? I love it!

Alright chickies... lets work hard this first stretch! Weigh in will sneak up faster than we know! Off to work! Be good.

Hey girl! How's it going? I Yahoo'ed you last night. :D

Hey Dream and everyone! Welcome Newbies and Welcome back everyone who's been away and all the returnies! I've been out of these for a while too. I've been a lazy girl this entire year. Not 1 pound lost since January so it's time to get Busy!!!

What is everyone's plan of action?
Mine is to count my calories on Livestrong (TDP), watch the carbs and exercise 5 to 6 days a week and track it at Sparkpeople. I gotta get my diabetes and blood sugar under control. It's a HUGE pain right now.

Diva Sorry I missed you last night! I was stressed beyond belief and in a daze on the couch. But it's all good today. :D

My plan is to follow on my eating plan I have now--basically following the south beach principles: whole grains, veggies, lean meats, etc. I slip up when I start eating to many bad carbs. I get started and can't stop! But if I stay on track the weight doesn't seem to be too hard to lose. Of course I have a ton to lose, so that may change as I get smaller. I'm also going to try to work out 6 days a week. I've been only hitting about 4 days lately, but I'm going to try really hard to meet the 6 day mark. I want to do good for the blue team!

Fauxtini- divorces are hard, but it is especially important that you take care of yourself right now. eating right and exercising may help you to feel better emotionally as well:)

Nixmom- How exciting.. congratulations:)

Hello Blue Team!!! I'm so glad to be back. I had a rather hard summer because not only did DS get married and move out of the house but my mom died a few weeks after the wedding. But I'm rearing to go again. I've gained an ungainly 15 pounds since July and that's going to be shed immediately.

Nixmom-Congratulations on your engagement. June 2010 will come so fast but you'll be radiant with your slim fingers and body to match.

Must go. Have an appointment and I'm late.

Hi all,
Good question Diva!
My plan is Weight Watchers, and for exercise I am doing the weight loss program from John Bingham and Jenny Hadfield in "Running for Mortals". This is basically run-walking 4x/week and strength training 2x/week (I'm taking my workouts from Tom Venuto here).
So far so good!

Hey Blue Team!

I've been reading all morning, but I've been doing TBL Thread "housekeeping" so this is my first team post today.

In answer to the question about my plan.....survival. At this point that's all I'm promising. :D

Abby - I'm sorry about your situation. We've missed you on here. I see you on Facebook but it just isn't the same.

eusebius - That's a heavy-duty exercise plan!

Twilightwing - mmmm, pie. :hun: I know I'm going to screw up your name at some point and call you Nightwing. (just a random DCU fangirl moment)

**Yes, it's true. Sometimes the decision of which team to put you on is based on your username, the team you root for, your avatar, or location. But other than that, it's completely random. ;) **

Kris - Congrats! When's the wedding?

Gotta go, boss is paging me.

I am doing this for the third time. Twice before I got sidelined and couldn't finish... Once I pulled a muscle in my back and was having spasms and the second I had to have surgery and didn't get the program finished before I went in... Third times the charm right?? It is a great program though!

And Econ - glad to see ya on the threads again!

My plan is to track my calories - everything that goes into my belly will be recorded! I also plan to focus on lots of fruit and veggies with protein while limiting my carbs. I plan to finish the C25K program - I run (well jog is a better word for it) Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday is to the gym to use the elliptical and I must start doing something with some weights.

Oh I forgot to ask a question that I have... Do we use the weight we reported when we signed up as our starting weight??

Yes.

It took me 2 or 3 tries to finish the C25K. I finally finished when I ditched the podcast and used my own music. Now I run almost everyday. Usually 3-6 miles. I will be a year in Oct since I started and sometimes I still can't believe I'm a runner.

Twilight - What DVD? I was doing a lot of DVDs when I started out.

As for the Plan of action question.... My plan is continue using my bodybugg (basically just calorie counting) and really keep up my activity level. I'm training for my 15k on Nov 1st (glad to see a bunch of c25k people here!) and continue working on my biking and swimming over the winter for the longer Tris next summer.

That... and my plan is to also work on my nutrition content more. Less junky stuff and much more whole grains and vegs.

Plus maybe some strength training? Looking at working in the Chalean Extreme DVDs.

I've used them. I don't remember them being bad, actually, it seems I remember really liking them. I used to use the lower carb ones, but they've become harder to find. As for feeling full, I have the PCOS symptom of almost constant hunger, so I can't give you a good answer on that. I generally eat every 2-3 hours, and I don't remember not making it that long between meals. Right now I've been eating the Slim-Fast Optima granola bars, which don't have as much protein (8g) and way too many carbs (35g), and the first ingredient listed is corn syrup (but not HFCS). But it's better than a stop at Krispy Kreme on my way to work. FOr some reason I cannot get my act together in the mornings. I can either run or I can make breakfast, but not both. Running wins every time. :)

diva- when i was 25( a LONG time ago) i did the slim fast diet.. two shakes a day and a sensible meal at night.. i also walked 7 miles a day.. lost 80lbs in 4.5 months.. but... gained it back when i went back on food... i still have one once in a while if i cant stomach eating breakfast or something... but for the most part i try to eat a lil something if only a banana:)

does anyone know how to check to see how long you have been a member of this forum? i have the recommended post requirement i think for a sig, but im not sure when i joined..

Hello Blue team!!!

I'm so glad to be a part of my first BL challenge!! I have lofty goals for the next few months, so I need all the rah-rahing I can get, lol.

Thanks Dixie for putting this together.

Diva - I keep the slimfast shakes in case I am hungry, but dont' have time to make something to eat. I actually drink the Costco (Kirkland) brand ones as they are exactly the same, but only $15 for 24. The Slimfast shakes at the grocery store are a lot more expensive. I wouldn't recommend only drinking them for breakfast & lunch though. It's not enough to keep you full for too long.

Good morning Blue Team!

I just want to introduce myself to you as I am new to this forum:)

My name is Liz and I am a 48yr old divorced mother living with my 82yr old mother as her primary caretaker while working full time at a major retailer in Florida in the back office.I am very busy most of the time, but I have decided that I want to devote more time to myself and get myself back into shape and lose the 25 pounds that I am overweight.

I am really looking forward to this competition as I am a huge fan of the show and JM, but most of all, I hope to read your stories and gain some knowledge and insight, and cheer the blue team on!

Good luck all,

gatorgirl- im no expert, but i would bet youre not eating enough calories.. 1200 should be the bare min ever..with your exercise, and the weight you are now, i would try upping the cals to about 1450-1600 and see what happens:)

Yeah I agree with Twi, up your calories a bit. I had to do it too and I started losing. If we eat too little calories our bodies think we are starving them and we won't lose any weight at all.

Twi, sorry about the tooth, I hope ya feel better.

I've had a good couple of OP weeks, with only a few "cheats". The scale seems to be slowly moving downward, so I am happy. :D I'm gonna watch Ellen and then do some Step aerobics and Primp. See y'all later!

Good morning blue team :)
Today I am going to be starting Mesocycle 3 of the STS program that I am doing. I have my menu planned out for the day so I am all set to go!

Sometimes I don't feel like eating before I go to the GYM in the mornings so I was wondering if those shakes/drinks would be enough to get me through an hour workout really.

Diva, I used to use the Slim Fast shakes but I saw a trainer on tv talking about how full of sugar they are, and that he didn't reccomend using them. Now this was years ago so maybe they have changed. Have you tried using protein powder? I usually drink a protein shake, (skim milk + vanilla flavoured pp), once a day and it is so filling. The one I use only has 1 gram of sugar per scoop, 2 grams of fat, 24 grams of protein, 2 grams of carbs, and only 120 calories.

Twilight, sorry about your tooth. I hope you are feeling better soon

amouse, your dog is so cute!

gatorgirl, I agree that you should be eating more than 1200 calories. You don't want to slow down your metabolism. Here is a link that can give you a good idea on how many calories you should be consuming:

Have a wonderful day everyone :)

Hey Blue Team. I Was just wondering what day people are going to choose to declare their weight?

I was thinking of doing it on Sundays. to be on the safe side.

Hello Blue Team,
I am at work now but wish I was out walking and enjoying the sunshine.
Echo - I always do my weigh ins on Sundays and plan to keep it up that way I should never forget.
I plan to do the WW program (but on my own) and exersise some everyday if possible.
I am a little affraid for October as we go to Whistler BC for work every year and they have such good food (desserts) and everyone eats about 4 or 5 a day or more. I usually come back 6 pounds heavier. One of my friends eats the same amount and we walk all the time and she gains 0 :( not fair.
I am excited to be in the challange and on this team as it will help me say NO to the desserts (or at least limit me to 1) and I will be going for fitness walks now instead of our strolls.

Hello Team!
I'm 24 years old. I was in this challenge before.. But I've started to gain back again. So here I am again.
My goal is to reach 128. But I'll be happy to reach 135 by christmas.
Right now I've got a bad cold. But as soon it's gone, I'll start to do some exercising. I'm thinking of doing 30 Day Shred. I used to loved that a year ago. I'm also gonna start to jogging again.
I'll write here more later.

Lil Pixie-I usually have a pita stuffed with salad veggies and chix, or a boca burger or deli turkey on those new sandwich thins, soup is always good. I also do a lot of leftovers from dinner just smaller portions. I eat a lot of salads with lunch too. I know you don't like veggies but try incorporating the ones you can stand because they do add volume to keep you fuller longer. HTH.

Good day so far. In calorie limit. 55 oz of water down, and getting ready to do 30 DS.

i have had a full on year since i was last in the challenges.. but somhow still managed to loose another 20 pounds.. despite all the b****hit ... so im pretty happy .. ( my sis went nuts, my friend murdered an old lady on my street, my son got nightmares becuase of , my cousin died. mum went nuts,,, nan died.. mum went more nuts ) all while my hubby worked away 4 weeks work 1 week home.. but its all settled down.. (it was all from november - may) .

wow you're year sounds like a bit of a roller coaster.. glad for your son but sad to see him move out.. and then to loose your mum :( . I love that you say that 15 pounds is going to fall off.. :) I bet it will too

Wow!! My summer pales in comparison to your year. I'm slowly adjusting to an empty house. DH drives a school bus and is gone most of the day. Mom used to live with us so our household was cut in half within a month. But on the bright side, I can exercise and walk whenever I want to now.

Has anyone ever tried those Slim-Fast shakes as a meal replacement, like when you're in a hurry or just can't stomach food? I noticed there's 20 grams of protein in them and other good for things. If so, did it keep you full feeling for a while?

I've never used any kind of meal replacement shake but I found throwing a banana in the blender with skim milk, any extra fruit around and a handful of nuts or bran cereal used to really fill me up for the whole morning. That may not work for you if you are counting carbs but it was filling and satisfying for me.

Good morning Blue Team!

I just want to introduce myself to you as I am new to this forum:)

Hi Liz. I was my 92 year old mother's primary caretaker for 2 1/2 years. She passed away this summer. I'm wasn't working though and it was tough even then. I'm sure you'll do great getting back in shape and losing those extra 25 pounds.

Retiredone....so sorry for your loss.

Thank you so much.

Another good day under my belt. I need to eat more iron rich food as I just found out my ferritin level is low. Dr. will probably put me on supplements but I'd like to tweak my diet to include more iron rich foods. I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian so liver (((shudder))) is out. So as I'm counting calories I'm also trying to include the iron-rich foods. I'm finding out that if I want to eat healthy and lose weight I can't waste food on junk or I'll be missing out on the vitamins and minerals I need. I do take a multi-vitamin each day but I think the summer's junk food binge caught up on me--lots of calories and food but no vitamin or mineral quality.

And you can call me Isabella or retiredone.

Well, that's my story.

Mary

any variation of my screen name is fine :)

I want to apologize I have not been speaking up a lot on here just yet, though I have read each and every post. I am in a very stressful period of life right now with tons of emotional stuff going on. I have to admit I have been binging almost daily, but today I realized that while everything is chaotic in my life, my own behaviors are the only thing I can really control. So why give all my time and effort to things I cannot control and which are wrecking me and stressing me out?

So, I am getting it together tonight to be back on track tomorrow. I hit the store for lots of high protein foods, fresh produce, etc. It's time to take care of myself because all of this stress is going to kill me....literally! I took my blood pressure and tested my sugar today and BP was sky high and sugar was higher than usual. I have never had health problems before but it is going to start if I do not get serious here. I can feel it coming :(

My question is how do you get going again when there is so much stress and pressure in your life? I feel if I can get it together at this period of life I will be able to maintain no matter what comes my way!

Hello all! I hope everyone had a great day! I do think I am going to up my calorie intake, but I am only allowing myself to eat certain things. I don't want to just add junk for the calories. I tried a new dinner tonight. The recipe is from publix. They were cooking it while I was shopping. I came home made it, and LOVED it. It tastes kinda like a cheesey corn chowder with chicken. Heres the recipe: (I know it sounds odd, but it works!)

Chicken Corn Casserole

Indredients: 2 1/2 cups cooked, diced chicken, 1 (11oz) can Southwestern or mexican style corn (undrained), 1 (10oz) can mild diced tomatoes and green chiles (undrained), 1/2 cup corn muffin mix, 1/4 cup light sour cream (I used Fat free), 1/4 cup light mayonnaise, 1/4 cup shredded reduced-fat sharp cheddar cheese

1. Preheat oven to 425. Coat 2-quart baking dish with cooking spray.
2. combine all ingredients (except cheese) in medium bowl. Transfer to baking dish. Bake 15 min.
3. remove from oven. Sprinkle cheese over top; bake 5 more min or until cheese melts. For best results, let stand 5 min before serving (it thickens some more).

Nutrition: Serving Size 1/4 recipe. 320 Cal, 11g fat, 55mg chol, 1330mg sodium, 32g carbs, 4g fiber, 23g protein, 10% vit A, 8% vit c, 15% calcium, 4% iron. (This is listed on the recipe card from publix)

Oh, and for my name, Gator is fine.

Skinny- I always find that when I have the right foods on hand, I make better choices. Maybe the threat of the fruit and veggies going bad and wasting money makes me eat them. I bought 6 lbs of chicken at Sams today. Froze most of it, but it looks like I am going to have some good chicken in the near future. Last week when I was at the store, a guy mentioned that everything in my cart was very healthy. Now when I go shopping, I feel like people are looking at what I am getting, so I make sure to be good. Its like the junk food police might get me. Hopefully it lasts, I like not having the junk in the house and not wasting money on stuff that just makes me regret it. Good luck. Im sure everything will fall into place.

Sj all i can say is make small changes.. dont try to be too hard on yourself... slowly make a good change for the better... For me to stop binging i have to get exercising.. becuase then i get in the mind set... of i worked to hard to then go and eat...... this only works if your dont use working out as an excuse to have.... ...

If you are binging... get rid of the juunk... and if you have a binge on fruit and veg its not going to be too bad... until you can controll it agian..

Dont be too hard on yourself.. fo for a long walk to clear your head every day .... have a decent breakfast.. and be kind to yourself.. a good friend of mine said something the other day on one of the weightloss forums i go to that i thought was very true "Most of us are chubbies because: we cared about everyone but ourselves, we worked our butts off and were to tired to exercise, we gave so much of ourselves that we couldn't see who we were..."

good job on making a stand and starting fresh! good luck.

for me, i find exercise helps as its a great stress reliever. your body cant tell the difference between a physical threat, or a mental stress, so it gears up to either fight or run away, so if you dont have a way of releasing the pent up tension you cant relax, exercise is a way to release your bodies tension so you can relax afterwards.
for me, i do feel better after i exercise, and during my exercise, i dont think about anything

i can relate to the stress period of your life. i have the most important exam of my life in about 2 weeks time. but i find if i can control my eating and exercise, it makes me feel i am more in control and gives you power in that way.

good luck! you can do it ;)

skinnyjeans: I TOTALLY hear ya on the stressful front! I have a habit of binging myself into oblivion during stressfl times... and let me say.. this time in my life is as stressed out as i have been in my life. But like echo said.... if we can manage control in our eating and exercise it DEF helps us keep the power and not let our emotions or the aspects causing those emotions to control us. We are all strong people and binging on food and laying around not moving our butts helps nothing. Im here for you if you ever need to chat or vent girly :) We can dooo eeeeeet! ;)

good morning bluebies:)... my tooth is feeling better thank goodness.. the antibiotics are working well.. gonna have to make an appt with the dentist next week and have it yanked tho.
poor mom.. she is on hospice, has loads of things wrong with her, and the other day my sisters cat scratched her leg.. now she has a raging infection all the way up her poor leg.. she has been on antibiotics for two days, and it may look a lil better this am. the day it happened i poured peroxide all over it, then put triple antibiotic ointment on it, but it still infected.. prob cause instead of an actual scratch it was like a pierce... right in the vein..

i havnt eaten much the last couple days due to my tooth, which could be bad or good depending on what my body says lol.. however i havnt exercised either for the same reason.
well, off to pay bills etc... hope everyone is having a good day:hug:

Hello fellow blue team members! Sorry I'm checking in so late... it's been a busy week. ;)

A quick intro/reintro:

My name is Elise. I'm turning 27 on the 24th (I need a new av, lol). I'm a married stay at home mom of 4 kids, 10, 7, 5 and almost 2. We live in SE Louisiana and just moved to a farm. I'm starting to learn gardening and we're getting goats and chickens, soon. :) I'm so excited. My hubby and I are hoping that living out here, working out in the "yard" and growing some of our own food will help us live healthier lives. Besides that, I'm an artist, a computer nerd, an amateur photographer, an outdoorsy person and very interested in getting in shape so I can better enjoy all of that stuff.

My family has a poor medical history that includes heat disease, strokes, obesity, etc. so I'm hoping that stops with me. I want to grow old with my hubby and be a healthy example for our kids. Plus it couldn't hurt to fit better in my clothes. ;)

I can't wait to meet everyone and get reacquainted with people from the last challenge I was in... GEAUX BLUE TEAM!!!!! I will try to be as active in the chats as I can but the internet service out her is iffy. I will make sure I weigh in though! Even if I have to drive to the library! lol

It's gonna take me a while to get caught up on the personals... but I just wanna say, thanks Dixie, for everything you do! You're such an inspiration... :)

I love the show for the most part but if we get any more Icky Vicky's, I will most likely watch something else. Contestants like her ruin it for me.

Twi_ I sure hope your Mom's leg gets better. That's horrible. :( I am glad your tooth is feeling better.

As for me...2 + weeks still OP and doing well. Scale slowly moving down. ;) If I disappear for a few days it's because my internet sucks, but I'll be back.

Hugs all! Have a fabulous weekend!

Hi team.
I just wanted to pop in a say hi! I am moving in a couple of weeks so I am busy getting all packed and stuff. I will do my best to try and keep up with the thread. I should go back to normal in October and be able to participate even more on the thread.
One thing I have found from the previous challenges is that the more I participate in the chats the better I do, so that's my intention this time around as well.

Hope everyone has an awesome weekend!

i LOVE the show!!! so far i've only watched season 6. and i'm now on season 7.
i find watching their last chance workouts really gives me motivation to go and exercise!!

lol i love the awkward overacting product placement "ads" in the show, makes me smile! and even though i know its on purpose, i'm so easily swayed!!!

but we dont get watermelon flavour extra gum here :( in the uk!!
nor do we get strawberry cheesecake flavour yoplait!! :(
i'm so easily persuaded hahahahah

I love the show for the most part but if we get any more Icky Vicky's:

spoilers for season 6

omg i hated vicky too!! and i didnt much like heba either, the way they used to gang up on michelle! michelle was my favourite! she was such a darling!
my favourites from season 6 were colleen, michelle, colleen's dad, bless him, what a sweet teddy bear of a father. it annoyed me when phil rolled his eyes once when he was going up to get weighed. i thought that was mean!
but then i didnt like the way heba and vicky "bullied" phil and his wife amy.
oh and Amy (phil's wife) i really liked her.
i didnt like the other amy either.
lol
although i really liked heba in the beginning, she was my favourite. but then she got all bully and mean. i mean i felt sorry for her when they did the in the dark challenge and phill went behind her back to eat that peanut thing hahahah
i know its probably cause of the way they do the editing etc but thats what i felt :D

Hey Blue Team and Team Leader Dixie,

I noticed that there was an exercise thread for the summer camp, I Was thinking can we have something like that for the fall? if you like , I can create the thread? i can copy the format Dixie has already created...OR is that the job of the Team leader? dont wanna be stepping on anyone toes!! :D

the thread formatted by Dixie is like this :
http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/biggest-loser-challenges/172680-blue-team-summer-camp-exercise-thread.html

Diva- I couldn't stand icky vicky!!

BigSexy-I love to watch Biggest Loser- I now have a dvr so I wont have to miss an episode!

Happening-yep I'm on facebook!

Echo-I'm sure when the challenge starts we will have all kinds of different threads to post in. Depending on what Dixie decides we might do a weekly challenge or just an accountability thread.

Ok, well I spose I better get the kids ready for bowling. Everyone have a POP day!

Thanks for all the "congrats" on the engagement. It is definitely something I have been waiting for, for a long time.

So much going on, and I only have a couple minutes, but here are some quick tidbits...

Nix is fine (for name calling :D)
An exercise thread would be fantastic.
I'm on facebook too.
Dixied - you still rock... look at all of our chatter.

Ok.. I have children jumping on me and fiance boohooing about breakfast. Hope you all have a good weekend. I have 2 birthday parties to get through and need to really gear up for this challenge by getting the house and groceries in order.

Happening-I'm on facebook too! I love it great way to stay in touch with family and old friends who are all over the place. I think my created name is marycshady.

Having a great day so far. Did a 45 min hiit on treadmill. I haven't ran it awhile and it felt really good. Was down almost 3 lbs. yesterday when I weighed. Can't wait to see what it will be by next week.

Have POP Saturday.

good morning fellow bluebies:)
i buy mom these apple crumb muffins from costco that she loves so much.. i had never had them myself. well, last night she talked me into trying a bite, and they were wonderful... till i googled the calories.. 1000? in one muffin? lol... glad i only had one bite.

i also have a facebook, but i use myspace more often.. i guess im a rare one who likes myspace better lol.

as for an exercise thread, i too think it would be cool.. as well as maybe a food log etc.. good for keeping accountable, but also maybe for giving others ideas on what to eat etc... i get so bored sometimes trying to figure out what i can eat for X amt of cals.

no caregiver to help with mom on the weekends so i pretty much stay in and dont do a whole lot. try to do some indoor exercises but miss being able to go for a walk..

hope everyone is having a good day:hug:

zinke works for me

I'm a whole page behind on posts. I'll try to finish catching up in a bit. I'm not going to attempt personals right now either. Just know that if you needed good thoughts you got them.

Things are crappy around here. I'm trying to cope. Sometimes I am successful. More often I'm not. Food today has been decent so I am pleased.

Hey blue team! thanks all for the feedback and i agree food accountability would be great too!!

thanks lil pixie, dream, nixmom, maryshady, twilight for the feedback!

So i was thinking, i can make an exercise/food intake accountability for week zero, in preparation for our first weigh in!

it will have the format where you can edit your OWN post, instead of posting a new post. that way will be easier, and you can see clearly your progress day by day.

here is the link.

BigSexy - I had watched the first few seasons of Biggest Loser and only a couple episodes last season but I do plan on watching this season. PVR is the way to go.
Twilightwing - costco muffins are so yummy but I was going to WW a few years ago and found out the points so I have not had one since, even when I wasn't OP
Dream710- WTG on the 2lbs
Echo- thanks for doing the accountability thread

My scale just might drive me crazy! I weigh in everyday. It has never been a problem before. I know that fluxuations from day to day are normal and I never let the get to me, but there is always a balance of up one day and the down the next. My scale seems to be stuck going in one direction. The wrong one. This morning I weighed in at 175. I haven't weighed that much in months. That is up from my TBL starting weight of 171. I am eating right ( recently uped my calories from 1200 to 1400 because of this abnormal weight gain. Its been here for a week today) and exercising hard atleast 4 days a week. I know that a little of this is water gain because I over did the sodium a little yesterday, but the majority of it has been lingering for a week now. When it started (last sunday) I went from 170.6 to 174.6 overnight. I thought it would go away, but it stayed. Anyone have any ideas? I need help. I need this weight off!

I forgot to mention I had a great victory today. I was shopping with DH and MIL and on the way home they were munching out on potato chips and cheese puffs. I thought I was going to have a total munchie melt-down. I even put my face in the chip bag and snorted in as much of the aroma as I could but I didn't put one crumb of the offending junk in my mouth because I knew I'd succumb to the chips and be their slave for the rest of the day. I went home and cooked a good and wholesome supper and have enough calories left-over to have a cup of grapes for dessert.

I rarely resist potato chips.

sorry to be personal,. and please don't be offended, :o but are you getting enough fiber. i just know for me, if i dont have regular bowel movements on a daily basis, the undigested foods adds "weight" to my weight! :o

i think what you're doing is great, if you're working out hard, thats good that you've upped your calorie intake. i heard that sometimes your body just needs time to adjust to the new weight and recalibrate, and then you will see a drop. the changes that are happening inside your body for a weight loss wont show up as fast on the scale, but if you're eating healthy and exercising, it will show eventually!

keep going, you're doing great!

Retire-Great job on keeping your hand out of the bag! Way to go on getting the scale to move.

Sweet-whats Bikram Yoga?

Diva- Last Chance workouts sound great. Can't wait for the show to start.

Echo-Thanks for setting up the exercise and food thread. I've been having trouble eating healthy and posting daily I think will help me think twice before putting something in my mouth!

Must confess, I was a lil naughty last night. I went out with the girls and over indulged a bit. I didn't eat much during the day to make up for what I was going to consume last night. The scale didn't change this morning and trying to make sure to get lots of water today.

Gotta go for now, J is now mobile and is getting into everything :dizzy:

Dream- TOM is a couple weeks out still, but I have increased both the amount and intensity of exercise recently. I just don't see how that could result in a gain.

Echo- Don't worry, I am not easily offended. I love that this is one place where I can be totally open. There was a small problem with irregularity right when the weight gain came on. I bought fiber pills and that fancy yogurt. I am definitally getting enough fiber now. I am still a little irregular. Maybe its just a combination of that and some water weight. I guess, only time will tell. I just have to try to stick to my plan even though the scale makes it seem pointless.

I have decided to not weigh again till friday. It will be tough, but I think it will keep my mind in the right place. This process is not about the numbers. I am going to spend this week focusing on staying in calories and active. Monday-Friday seems like a good short time to focus on. I am going to the gym all 5 days. I am going to drink at least 3 liters of water (which is 1 liter more than Im drinking now) and restrict myself to certain 'good' foods. I will write out the next days meal plan the night before and stick to that plan.

Hopefully this will help.

i have such a hard time getting enough cals when i give up fast food and soda. i have already had dinner and i am at 1039 according to daily plate. oh well, maybe later this evening ill have a couple 100 cal snacks lol.
didnt exercise much as the antibiotics make me feel so icky i dont even want to get up. i did clean out my closet, vacuum the living room and i wait on mom, so i do get up and move a lil lol.
im looking forward to ending the antibiotics and starting this challenge and seeing the lbs drop:).. hope everyone is having a good day:hug:

gatorgirl- I could be wrong but with the increase in your activity level maybe your muscles are adjusting to the increase causing your body to retain water. I would imagine that once your body adjusts that the weight will come off. Has anyone else heard of this?

Okay - truth time! I had a wicked all-day eat-a-thon accompanied by a huge emotional breakdown. First time in MONTHS that I've fallen into the emotional eating trap. Live and learn, right?

Tomorrow I have a plan for all my meals, and I've got a date with the elliptical at the gym. :D

gatorgirl, Dream710 is right! Your muscles will want to hang onto the water while they adjust to being used. They should let go but sometimes it takes a couple of weeks......basically it depends on your body. Stay off the scales is my advice.....I get upset with my self when I don't do as well as I want to.

Hey teamies!

This thread has got SOOO much going on. I am popping in to kind of mark my spot. I had great intentions of catching up... but for the good of the team I am going to get a good nights sleep instead. I promise from here on our to keep up!

PRACTICE ~ We must have been on the same plan today. Unfortunately my breakdown occured in my head and all emotion was held in to avoid spoiling kids' birthdays. Even Ice Cream cake couldn't make me happy (thats bad!). New week for me mentally tomorrow... food is planned like you. Lets do tha dang thing!

Enjoy your sundays ladies and I'm up for a kick up week if you are!

Hello fellow blue teamers !!

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

We had a really good weekend with much visiting and having fun with friends.

We did a bunch of walking yesterday and managed to take the dogs to the offleash park and get another walk in today.

Even though we went out to eat a couple of times I ate well and feel so much better because of it.

Only took a week to lose the water weight plus a bit extra I put on in Vegas so I'm feeling fresh and ready to go for this challenge !!

Talk to you all soon !

Leslie

Practice and Nixmom, emotional eating is what caused me to regain 15 pounds since July. I'm over that (for now) and on track again. But I'll bet you've got loads of company with emotional eating. I'd guess that a great deal of the weight adult women gain is from emotional eating. (No stats on that, just my opinion.) I've found there's not much I can do when I'm in the middle of a trauma but as soon as I can think straight again I find menu planning really gets me back on track. I have all my dinners planned for the month and posted on the frig. I count calories so everyone eats the same in my house (only DH right now). We rarely eat out so I don't have the problem of trying to calculate restaurant food calories. I do the menu out on my computer and print it off. Right now I've got September, October and part of November planned out. I never have to wonder what I'm going to eat for dinner because it's there posted on the frig. It really keeps me on track.

Anyone else have any strategies for dealing with emotional eating? Let's hear what helps you.

i'm wearing all blue too even blue socks lol. hehe :cheer3:

day 1 week 1 of couch to 5k programe, goes something like this
5 minute brisk walk to warm up.
and then 20 minutes of alternating between 1 minute jogging and 1 and half minute walking. hope i make it! hehe i downloaded this free podcast to help me, cause i dont like to look at my watch when i'm running. in the past have only managed to run/jog between 1-2 minutes. with lots of walking breaks in between.

have a super day girls!

I had the same kind of day you had... Although I didn't have the breakdown part as badly - just a bit disappointed with myself... But today I am on plan and have already done my C25K workout (W5D1) before work. I think I will plan an walk on the treadmill this evening too OR get myself on track with the situp and pushup challenges... Must hunt down those links again!

Have a great day everyone! GO BLUE!!!!!!!

Just poppin in to say hi!

Had a really good weekend. Only went over cals by 150 each day which is unusual for me. Weekends are really hard I like the accountability thread cause I know I am going to have to fess up so it really kept me in line.

Retired-Great job on foregoing to chips. YOU ROCK!!!

Marianne-Forgive yourself and move on. I like that you already have a plan for today. You are going to do great this challenge. I can feel it.

Have a great day,Bluesers!!!

Good morning Teamies!:D

Excellent job those of you doing the c25k! That's an excellent program to get you runners going! I've tried it several times and never get past week 4 due to my hips. :( I've just come to the conclusion that I've never been a runner and I will probably never be one, and I am okay with this. LOL! Maybe when I get to goal I can try again, who knows...

I fell victim to the Emotional eating last night too. *sigh* I could blame TOM showing up and thus so did my scale, but I should know better than to "give in" to that by now. O'well, it's a new day and girls, :coach: WE NEED TO GET BUSY! We don't want the Red team to beat us on the first WI do we?!!!! We have our first one coming (no later than Monday), so let's rock-n-roll! Come on!!! We can do it!!!! Plan those meals, get your exercise done, drink that water and if ya feel bad or need to vent, get your butts in this thread and do it! Typing has to burn more calories that emotional eating right? :dunno: Well, we can try it. hehe!

 to everyone. Let's get this done!

{P.S.} Twilightwing: I borrowed your Blue Team sign. I hope it's okay. :)
