Had my weigh in this morning, and was up .2 lbs; bleh. Not sure why, but whatever. Haha. Not going to let it get me down or deter me! Especially, since today was also my measurements day, and I’ve lost 9.5 inches off my body over the last month!!! :) 3 inches being from my bust, which is great, because I carry a LOT of my weigh up there….on my back, specifically. I have a lot of back fat. But I’m quite happy to see the tape measure numbers going down. ;)
Went to the movies yesterday, and I didn’t have ANY of my boyfriend’s popcorn OR candy that he bought. I packed myself a rice cake and some whole grain goldfish crackers, and a bottle of water, and that was all I needed.
Today, for Labor Day, Mom decided she wanted to cook Thanksgiving dinner. Lol. Turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie, all of that. I plan on just having some turkey breast, corn, and maybe some broccoli. Not going to over indulge myself.
Heather hb – NSV’s are great aren’t they? :) That’s great!
Cyn – Hope you get LOTS done, so it’s not a mad dash to finish on Tuesday/Wednesday!
Heather – The money is definitely the thing that would hold me back from it. It’s $40 for an hour long session! Yikes. I’m currently unemployed, and just going to school full time, so that might have to be put on hold for now…I can just barely manage the cost of the gym itself!
Twilightwing – Congrats on your loss! Keep it up!!! :)

morning all..
I officially have a cold! UGH!! I knew I would get it. My youngest ahd it and my brother. My head literally feels like someone is squeezing it. Better to get sick now I suppose and get it out of the way before surgery.
Today we were suppose to go to my sisters for a BBQ because it is her hubby's birthday. I don't think I am going to go. I am just way to sick. And it is back to work tomorrow. :(

Kayley -- I wouldn't have been able to afford it when I was a student, so I totally get it!! Don't worry about the tiny weight gain -- you're doing great!!!
Oh, and thanks for starting the new thread!
Cyn -- Take care of yourself and feel better soon!
My last day before work kicks in full force! Classes don't start till the 14th, but our opening week is very busy!

Haha, my weight is up 2 pounds, but I think I'm starting to see the hormonal, TOM coming soon, weight. God I hope so...I'm feeling a bit bloated though.
Goal for this week EXERCISE and for Heather's sanity, I'll put my times in the thread haha. :D I suck with the exercise! I'm like "NOOOOOO" sooo...it is my next hurdle. :D I sort of have the food sorted out, at least to the point where I know what I need to do and blah blah.
Hope everyone is well :D *HUGS*

Jacquie! :woohoo: on the exercise posting!! Did you know I started setting exercise goals because I hated to exercise? Seriously. I would sit with shoes in hand, trying to come up with excuses NOT to exercise. I still do that sometimes, but after almost 4 years I have learned that I function better and feel better (later) when I exercise. It is STILL a struggle though, which is why I still set goals for myself!

Well, this long weekend has been full of ups and downs for me. Saturday I got my daughters to walk with me around the neighborhood - we live in a very hilly area, so the 1.5 miles up and down hills was good for all of us. I would have liked to done a little more, but we had a busy day running errands and shopping. Yesterday was busy too during the morning, but I wasn't able to get any exercise in. I was cooking all day (or prepping anyway). We were headed to a barbecue so I made a crudite platter with broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, cucumbers, celery, snap peas, and cherry tomatoes - and I made the Knorr's spinach dip mix with low-fat sour cream and fat -free miracle whip. It turned out really great if I say so mysellf. Then I also made an enormous salad. For dessert, I made an apple crisp with dried cherries. Without the pecans that I added in, it was only 141 calories per serving. I will have to recalculate with the pecans I threw in at the last minute. Anyway - despite my great preparations, I did TERRIBLE at the actual barbecue. I ate a metric ton of tortilla chips and black bean salsa. Between that and the big portion of brisket I ate, I think I topped out at 2700 calories yesterday - good grief! :o
Anyway, I am going to try to get in a little exercise today - I may aim for 1500-1600 calories all week this week to try to make amends. Yuck!
Ok - kiddos are coming upstairs now, better take advantage of snuggle time while I can! Happy Labor Day!

Hey ladies,
Eyes still bothering me but I have still been exercising which has really paid off. I got on the scale today and was 399 exactly, I was so excited I'm still dancing. I have met my first mini goal and am so glad to say goodbye to the 400's.

Happy Labor Day everyone...today i did a 5 mile walk and i am starting to finally be able to notice a difference in the shape of my body and my face and body dont look so bloated and this morning while i was working out i was thinking about how far i have come because i remember when i first started working out doing the 2 mile walk and i would have to stop 3 or 4 times cause my back hurt too much and now i can walk 5 miles without stopping once so that is a big accomplishment. My weigh in day is friday but i always like to get on the scale every morning just to see where i am at and i was up .6 this morning but i am going to be getting my TOM so i am pretty sure that is water retention cause my weight was actually like 2 lbs heavier yesterday so i know it water retention cause im gonna be geting that TOM but i feel great today!
Sorry no personals right now, i have to go decide what im gonna wear to my parents bbq later i might wear one of my tops that i havent worn in a while so i will talk to you girls later!
Have a great labor day!

Hi All,
We finally got rain last night! AZCYN: Sorry about your cold. Did you get any rain?
I spent yesterday on the local mountaintop and it was lovely to be in a GREEN place.
Today is a the start of a new week and I bid adieu to a really bad one. I have renewed my my dedication to living healthy and look forward to feeling way better.
Hope everyone has a good start to their week.

With that big feast of a dinner, I still managed to keep my calories good. And I even had a tiny sliver of pumpkin pie. I didn’t overdo it, I had about 3 bites worth, total. It’s nice to be able to enjoy a small amount instead of pigging out on half a pie!
A few personals before bed. Tomorrow is my full session with the trainer. Wish me luck! I even took the day off of exercising today, so I wouldn’t be ready. :)
Cyn - Hope you get to feeling better soon!
Heather - Good luck this week! The first couple of weeks are always the worst for me…and I’m only a student…so I can only imagine what you’ll have to deal with.
Savannah – Today is a new day! :) Hope it was better for you than yesterday.
SouthernGal – CONGRATS! That’s a big milestone. Keep up the great work. Onward and downward to your next goal! :)

Hi just been to see the Dr AGAIN!!! I'm going on HRT as I can't put up with the 'brain fog' /memory loss, mood swings/depression AND hot flushes any more. He's looking into the most suitable one as my Mum had breast cancer linked to HRT, he's going to ring me to collect arescription as soon as he's found the right one. Good news my blood pressure is 120/70 (I think, lol!!! I forgot BUt it is a VERY good healthy level, for any age/weight, which was nice to know. The Dr said I will be gaining weight due to the menopaue so I HAVE to exercise & diet NOW. No more excuses!
Kayley WTG on the back fat, isn't it VILE?!!! So happy the tape measure is showing such a FAB loss too.xxxxxx
Southerngal WTG!!! You are doing SO WELL!!!xxxxxxxx
Annie how are you?xxxxxxxx
Valerie, are you lurking??? Hope you are well & happy.xxxxxx

Heather - You're totally right. I SHOULD and WILL make small daily exercise goals. This morning my alarm went off at 5am and I was like "groans" then I actually started to talk myself into staying in bed. Suddenly I groaned, cursed under my breath, got up and went for my walk about 15 minutes later. lol. So, I CAN do it...I just have to kick my tushy sometimes. Besides it is 45 minutes to add to the exercise thread. :D
I think your way of doing goals is the only way I'm gonna get over this hurdle. It can be a real downer and my hip was so stiff on my walk. I can tell my body NEEDS to be active.
Kayley - I think desserts taste better now that I have a little bit. I don't know what it is...but I am really picky about sweets. I like to enjoy things and have "moments" with them and I don't need much anymore. Enjoying a tiny piece of awesome and high quality chocolate makes my week! :D
Zelma - Thinking of you. Hope you are okay.
Annie - Thinking of you as well, hope you are doing okay with your attacks you keep having. I hope you take some time to heal.
Voodoo - I hope you get your prescription soon! :D

Well, got up this morning, did my walk. Probably not going to have time to do my cardio workout later, but i'll try to get it in. I desperately need to get to the store, but my boyfriend is sick. I don't drive and kind of spend a lot of time in my apartment (a lot of time) alone, so I'm thinking it might be time to start studying up to get my license again.
While I was walking this morning, it is still dark and I just got back, I heard this rustling next to me. I walk in one of those cookie cutter developments...but it is nice. Sidewalks, some nature, etc. Anyhow, I heard this rustling and I look down, mind you it is dark except for a few lights here and there, and there is a friggin' skunk! I jump and go "JESUS!" cause the little guy scared me lol. He was all like "OMG A PERSON! AT THIS HOUR?!" so He was all getting ready to spray me if I got any closer, and I was like really close. An inch from the guy lol. So, he backed up and I went on my way, but the look on his face was like "ACK!" and the look on my face was "ACK!" lol
Haha....you had to be there.

Kayle- good job on the inches, two pounds is not much perhaps TOM creeping up?
AZC- Hope you feel better soon, summer colds are the worst.
Jac- Yep could be time of the month. I always go up anywhere from 2- 5 lbs.
Susannah- Have fun snuggling with the kiddies, I miss that. Don't worry about the extra calories, now is the time to move on and like you said cut back this week.
SouthernGal - way to go on the weight loss. Doesn't it feel great.
Pennie- That is all that matters is knowing what is going on then ready to change it.
Voodoo- Good job on the Bp, sorry that you have HRT. Cancer is a pain it runs in my family as well.
Annie- Hope you are doing alright. I keep you in my prayers.
Zelma- Just saying hello and hope you are well also.
well girls I think I got to everyone yesterday was a very relaxing day, stayed on track and even did a work out, I'll post in the exercise thread. I noticed that my bra is fitting better, I don't have that overhang on the sides anymore. May try a smaller bra just to see. Any way back to work for me as I have had four days off and am not looking forward to it..ah well at least it's a short day. I did have one panic attack yesterday but I turned on some soothing music and sat and meditated. Have a great day everyone.

Haha I have to admit, it was fun to see a skunk lol. He was cute! From what I could see in my quickened pace hahahaha.
I do love walking in this area. Lots of trees, but I used to live in a very industrial looking area and that was a bummer. Just thinking about going outside was depressing. Here it is nature and my iPod and me. :D

Good morning gals! Ok, my weekend of sloth and debauchery is officially over *laugh* and I'm back on track. Tonight I'm playing sand volleyball on a league with one of my coworkers, so I'll be skipping dinner - two things that will help make up for the bad behavior on Sunday and the lack of exercise yesterday.
Tomorrow morning I begin Week 3 of Couch to 5k. I think this weekend I'm going to attempt a full 3.1 miles (the 5k) just to see what time I can make it in - jogging and/or walking as I feel up to it. That way I'll have a progress marker for the next time I attempt it (maybe in October).
A couple of NSV's for me: This weekend I was able to put on and WEAR comfortably an old pair of shorts that used to cut the very breath out of me. I had a little muffin top working (oh well), but I had plenty of room in the waistband.
This morning, I am wearing a long-sleeved shirt that I haven't worn since last Winter and with a pair of capri length pants, and for the first time in the entire time I've been dieting - **I** could see the difference around my midsection.
Now I need to go back and catch up on what everyone else is up to on the thread - back later!

Ok, I think I'm mostly caught up with everyone:
Jacquie: I would have about fainted at seeing a skunk so up-close. At least your walk was adventurous! Haha. What have you been cooking lately? I'm just fascinated by the raw foods thing.
Tracy: I look forward to the day I can pitch all my old bras in the garbage and buy all new. With my "spillage" I've nearly yanked all of the underwires out of my bras because of the way they dug into my sides, so I'll be glad when these don't fit anymore and I can buy all new. Congrats on your NSV!
Voodoo: I've heard that alot of women just generally feel better on HRT - not just less foggy, but more energetic too. Here's hoping all the good effects come your way and none of the negative. I know how scary that must be for you knowing your family history. *hug*
Kayley: Very awesome on the good behavior during your labor-giving day feast :) I did not do as well at our barbecue I'm afraid. Let us know how the trainer session goes! I'm still waiting to hear when I'll have my first full session with the scary trainer. :)
CatWuv: Hooray for a new week, a new outlook, and a new resolve!
Heather B: Sorry to hear about TOM related gains - the only good thing about weighing yourself so regularly is that you get to know your body pretty well. Hope you had fun at the BBQ and congrats on all that yardwork! I would be totally beat! Great NSV!
SouthernGal: CONGRATULATIONS on leaving the 4's and on meeting your first mini-goal!! Wooo Hoo!!
Heather: How often do you see a trainer? I had been thinking about monthly, but do you see a benefit to more frequently? Some mornings I am glad no one else can hear the inner monologue arguments for and against going to the gym. I usually have to just tell myself "Oh suck it up, It doesn't matter if you WANT to go, you ARE going". It usually works.
Cyn: Sorry to hear about your cold - that just stinks! So much right on top of your move, huh? I think the world is conspiring against your move! Hang in there! I'm glad you'll have help this week with your hubby home. You're on the homestretch. When is your doc appointment again? Friday? You will feel SO much better once you have the surgery over with. (Well, it won't help the cold, but everything ELSE will feel better!)
Brandnewme: Hows it going with your planned snacks so far this week? I brought the most enormous bag of stuff to work today in an attempt to make sure I have lots of healthy/low-cal/low-fat snack options :)
Twilight: Enjoy the rapid weight loss while you have it! I lost quite quickly at first, and now I'm fighting a little harder for each pound. You are doing so amazingly staying on track and tending to your mom at the same time. I don't know how well I'd handle it.
Catherine: Your CHRISTMAS sewing?? Girl you are WAY organized and ahead of the curve. Also, I love window shopping online - when I have lulls at work, sometimes I "redecorate" my bedroom or redo the bathroom. Not that I really can do this in real life, but the fun is in the shopping and finding ideas and dreaming up what the ideal would be! Love it :)

good morning ladies.. hope everyone is having a good day so far... today is my birthday, and the only reason i mention it is my mother sent her caregiver to marie callanders to get me a chocolate cream pie for my bday lol... poor dear, she cant get out of bed to go shopping, or get online for that matter, so she did what she knows i love and she could do :).... the prob is now i have to eat some of that darn pie lol... it would really hurt her feelings if i didnt, and i know that sounds like a cop out, but she was really pleased she was able to do something for me... so now im going to have to realy watch my cals the rest of the day... prob wont be able to eat anything else all day lol...
i signed up for that biggest loser challenge.. guess not a moment to soon lol..
SUSANNAHC- mom has caregiver in the am's.. so i do get a couple hours off to do what i need to... unless she is feeling really bad, then she wants me around just cause she feels more secure. it's been hard, but i keep telling myself that when she is gone i will have this time to cherish:)

I should be sitting in my first class right now, and would be if it hadn't gotten canceled. I just checked last night online as a fluke, and found out that way. It would have been nice to have been given a call or email. I guess not enough people signed up. Glad I didn't spend over 2 hours on a bus going at there to find out though.
That was the last class I could take relying on the bus to get me to and from. The other two options were canceled this summer. Our school had to move because the province decided to put a highway through the campus. The dorms the Seminarians use are finished, but not the school itself, so they are renting a former community college in the meantime, probably two years, so they have to arrange rides for the seminarians, and it is easier to have all their classes in the morning. The buses don't run early enough that way for me to get there in time for morning classes. Next semester I'll have a car, and this will no longer be an issue, but right now, I'm really pissed.
I guess this means I'll have extra time to work out.

susanna-dont feel bad that you did bad this weekend you have to just think positive that today is a new day and that you will try to do better :) I did eat really well the last few day i mean i stayed within my calories but yesterday at my moms bbq i overate on cheese curls and potato chips and i paid for it this morning with a stomach ache so dont feel bad we all have bad days
CatherineM-sorry to hear your class got cancelled do you think you will be able to still take it at a later date?
Well, as for me i did a little too much snacking yesterday on cheese curls and chips and i paid for it this moring with a stomach ache but finally my stomach ache went away this afternoon and i just got done walking for 40 mins so i feel better cause i really hate when i miss my workouts and tomorrow i may have to miss it cause i have to be somewhere early tomorrow morning but im gonna try to workout tomorrow night if im not too tired but if i dont its ok because i try to take 1 to 2 days off a week to give my body a break.

Had my session with the trainer this morning. It went really well, and I’m definitely feeling it! We did an hour session, and did mostly weight training….I actually learned how to use the weight room, instead of just doing the weight machines like I usually do. Then we did some interval training. If only I could afford to keep seeing her, cuz it was awesome. She made mention that she’d still work with me a little even if I can’t pay, so we’ll see what I can come up with. She was really nice, but she was talking about how some of her clients compare her to Jillian from The Biggest Loser….which is a good thing, I think. Sometimes you need that kick in the rear to keep going.
Speaking of The Biggest Loser, I’m so excited that it’s back on next week! It’s been a boring summer TV wise without it. It’s the ONLY show that I never miss, no matter what.
Well, I’m going to get to a few personals, and finish up my homework for tomorrow. Have a great day all!
Sharon – That’s great news about your blood pressure. Very good. :) How’s Slimming World going for you thus far?
Tracy – Eh, I’m chalking it up to muscle, etc. I haven’t had my TOM for 8 months or so…I’m extremely irregular. I thought I was PMS-ing, but the symptoms went away, so who knows? Hope you have a great day!
Susannah - Kudos to you on the NSV’s! I can’t wait until I lose enough to be able to see it myself. :)

Today is the two year anniversary of the beginning of my journey to better health. I'm pleased to report there is 85 lbs less of me than on that day. Could it be a bigger loss - of course. For me I am so much healthier and truly feel like I have changed my life. Exercise, even though a struggle at times, is a part of my life. These last two years have been a gift to myself. I'm excited to see what year 3 will bring.
Thanks to each of you for your support in helping me each step of the way!

Susannah -- I see my trainer once a week. I used to see him 2ce a week. The advantage for me is closer monitoring of my progress -- and, I think, faster progress. But I certainly think you could see one less frequently. I think it depends on your goals!

Evening Ladies...
Thanks for all the well wishes! We move tomorrow..and for the most part we are packed. YOu know how that goes..odds and ends that wont fit into a box. ;( Atleast when we move there is enough room for everything to have its place.
I go to the surgeon on Thursday. I don't know what he will say. I am assuming that they wont operate when I am sick. My youngest son is getting better..and he was sick 3 days before me soo hopefully I will be better by this weekend.
They can not turn on our internet in the new house until the guy that lives there shuts it off..so I might not have internet/cable/phone for a few days. BUT I can hop on my brothers if I need to. So if I am not around for a few days..don't worry I will be back lol
Now..off to clean and pack. Toodles and really..love ya guys!

HeatherHB, HUGSXXXXXXXX What a git!!! I bet he's no oil painting! I get just the same, especially at 'hormonal' times, I was crying on Sunday coz hubby said something which wouldn't normally upset me. I bet you thought of loads of smart remarks now too, save them for next time & then in passing make a personal remark, or even just ignore the loser altogether.xxxxxxxx
I'm doing ok on SW, I'm joining the actual club again on Thurday as it really helps me stay OP, the people there are SO friendly & warm plus I get the benefit of access to the internet syns (like w/w points) for any foods, makes it easier to work out what to eat. There's also lots of info & unlike some slimming clubs they don't do pressure selling of their products. They do a FAB line of breakfast bars which you can only buy in the class, worth it just for them, lol! my son (oldest-the pain in the backside) LOVEs them.

Just an update. Thank you to all who are thinking of us and who offered positive thoughts and prayers.
I think that the last time I posted was when Daryl (brother with Leukemia) was admitted to ICU as he had Swine Flu, Legionnaire's Disease - these had turned into pneumonia and bronchitis - then he got a staph infection. Well, that was exactly three weeks ago, and on the following Monday he was put into an induced coma and placed on a respirator and we were all told to prepare for the worst. That is not something that you ever want to hear, and it was VERY hard to cope with. I had over a week off work as we kept being told he would be brought out of the coma in a "day or so", which then got extended. Last Tuesday we were told that he would be in a coma for another three to five days, so I went back to work on Thursday and could hardly function for the first part of the day. I worked out later that I felt as though I had betrayed Daryl, as I had said, and told him, that I wouldn't go back to work until he was awake and I knew he was OK. Well, I HAD to get back to work because I only had so many days I could take off and I wanted to save some for when he DID wake up. Well, after having an absolutely rotten first couple of hours of the work day, Neil (husband) walked up to me and showed me a message from Daryl's wife saying that he was awake and talking, although still groggy, and that he was breathing on his own. We had NO idea that they were going to try to bring him around. You can't imagine the change in my emotions from then on. I was bouncing around everywhere and people couldn't hold me back. We went to see him Friday and he was still very groggy, but it was just so wonderful to see him awake and the first smile I got from him made the sun shine again for me. He still has a way to go, but at least he seems out of the woods for the moment. We think that there were some medications that they were treating him with that were stopping his white blood cells from developing, so once they stopped those and put him on steroids, his white cells began multiplying rapidly and he started fighting the infections. His muscles are very weak and he still needs a lot of physio in that area, but he is getting there.
Of course, he still has to deal with the transplant for the leukemia, and I am all ready to give him my bone marrow stem cells, but we have to get him strong enough first.
Sorry for the 'novel', but I just love talking about how well he is doing now after worrying for SO long. People asked whether the hospital staff had told us to expect the worst because they HAD to do that, but Rose (SIL) said that when Daryl's haematologist (sp?) came to see him he was quite emotional and said that he didn't think he'd get to talk with him again. So I have a feeling that Daryl is a bit of a miracle, which we are all VERY happy about.
Thank you all again. I truly believe that all of the positive thoughts and prayers helped to get him through this and they certainly helped me. It is lovely to know that so many people care.

Good morning! I am definitely feeling the lunges I did with the trainer yesterday. She told me I’d be sore, and want to cuss her out this morning. Haha. It’s definitely a good sore, though….and I can tell that I’m working muscles that I haven’t been using as much. I’m heading off to class, but plan on going to the gym, and getting in a lighter workout, so I don’t strain myself too much, and make the pain worse.
Cyn – Hope all goes well with the move!
Sharon – I hope that restarting helps kick start your weight loss again. :) How are things with your son, by the way? Have they gotten any better?
Zelma – I am SO glad to hear this! I was just thinking about you this weekend, and wondering how things were going, but didn’t want to bother you. He’s making such good progress, and I only hope that it continues, and he’s able to get the transplant soon.

sorry also wanted to say that Something strange happened to my today. A friend told me i liked exercise, how mad is that, like what nutter likes exercise ... lol actually I had a brill workout this morning. i have been watching this girl in the gym who does about the same as me and and the sweat pours out of her like her chest, arms face back. i only seem to sweat off my lower back and face, and was thinking the other day when i saw her that i wished i sweated like that. to me the more sweat the better the workout. anyhow today my face, back, chest and neck were soaked. i was delighted. how odd am i.
I did 20 minutes on the threadmill with intervills of 2 minutes running 2 minutes walking, 20 minutes on the crosstrainer, ab crunches, bicep curls while going up and down on the step and 8 lengths in the pool

Hello girls :}
I started college on Monday and it went well so I'm pleased! I even built up the confidence to talk to people! I also weighed in on Monday and I'd only lost a measely two pounds. At least it's a loss!

Just wondering if anyone had tried the bodybugg, all the contestants on the biggest looser wear them and I am considering getting one, i am thinking of changing from ww to pure calorie counting so it maybe something I should get:?:

Little note from me to you: If you get a chance to try V8's garden broccoli soup... just PASS. *bleh* I love the Southwestern Corn and the Tomato Herb, but this was just AWFUL.
I need to be making my own soups to bring to work - these pre-packaged ones have tons of sodium. Any body got any really good vegetable-packed soup recipes?

My two cents: I looked at the BodyBuggs, and my thought was that it is a little spendy for what you get. I've seen models by Polar that are less expensive - if you're already tracking your calorie intake on the web on one of the many, many free sites, just go with a Polar for the rest. Polar monitors heart rate and calories burned and can be synched with most cardio equipment in gyms. There are a few at Dick's Sporting Goods and start as low as $90 for the heart rate/calorie combo. (Compared with the $200-250 of a bodybugg). I really like my polar - it's water resistant too, so I can wear it when I swim. I also think the polar women's models are a little prettier than the body bugg and are a little more fashionable if you're planning on wearing it all day.

Hi All!
The scale is starting to go down again so that is a nice feeling. Over the weekend I realized that I have no current photos of myself because I have been avoiding the camera for so long. I don't even own a camera. I have decided that I must have a friend take my picture soon so I will have a "before" pic for my bestselling diet book I plan to write. Just kidding! Really though, I need to get over my camera complex.
paradisep I have a GoWear Fit armband which is like the BodyBugg. I like how it tells me my personal amount of calories burned for each day. The online calculators were off--several hundred calories too high. It also is a pedometer and tells me how many hours I sleep. It is a fun tool but not totally necessary. There is a good thread on the subject in one of the other 3FC boards where they discuss the pros and cons of the various models.
Positive vibes to all the boardies:hug:

Went to class this morning. I was feeling VERY sore from my session with the trainer yesterday…even more so than I have before. But I decided to go to the gym, but take it easy. I did 20 mins combo of some step aerobics & stability ball, 10 mins on the treadmill, and 30 mins of upper body strength training. My right leg is KILLING me, and it hurts to walk. :( Hopefully it’ll be much better by tomorrow. It’s definitely a good hurt, but man oh man!
ParadiseP – Hello & welcome to the forum! This is a really great group of people, and I hope you love it here as much as I do! :)
Beth – 2 lbs is great! Those first couple of days of college are always the worst! I get nervous before each semester, and I’ve been in college for 4 years now. Heh.
Tracy – Yikes! I hate inner ear infections. I used to get them on a semi regular basis. Feel better!!
Savannah – I’ve never made soup…but that sounds like a healthy and yummy lunch for the winter! If you find some good recipes be sure to share. Would love to try something different. :)
Pennie – I have quite a camera phobia myself. I’m a photographer, actually, but I refuse to be on the other side of the camera! ;) lol. Hopefully that’ll change as I lose weight. Definitely get those before pictures!

Good evening ladies...today i did a 4 mile walk and i always feel so good after i do my walking it is really invigorating! My diet has been going pretty well we went to cici's tonight for dinner but i had a salad and a couple pieces of veggie pizza so i feel good about the choices i made-i dont think this friday is going to be a good weigh in cause all week when i have weighed i have been up and i know im going to be getting my TOM next week so i think im retaining water from that so we will see what friday brings as of this morning i was 1/2 lb up.
On a happy note though i had a little extra money this week and i went to dots tonight and bought myself a dress and 2 dressy type tops ( they were buy 2 get 1 free) the dress doesnt fit quite yet but it was normally 22.00 and i got it for 7.00 and the tops were 18.00 and i got them for 9.00 so i got the dress for free cause it was the cheaper of the 3! but i tried the tops on and they look good on me ( they are 2X so i went down a size) i plan on wearing them in october for some family get togethers on my husbands side so they should look really good on me by then! I cant wait and they will come in handy for when i get a job in an office cause i dont have alot of dressy clothes cause my last job was casual wear everyday of the week i could wear jean, sweatpants, shorts, tshirts, anything i wanted which that is one reason i totally miss my job! I still get depressed sometimes about that but i try not to dwell on it!
Well, have a good evening ladies
talk to you soon

Zelma-That was so great to hear. Tell him that the prayers of a bunch of fat ladies can't hurt.
I went to a sale at my favorite fabric store today. $2/patterns. I think maybe spending the fall sewing will be good for me. I get irritated when my schedule gets messed up unexpectantly. The funny thing is that I didn't even want to take the class that got canceled. It wasn't something I needed, but was taking it as an elective because every other afternoon class had been canceled previously. There is one internet course I can take this semester until we get a car, but I don't know if it would even count as an elective. I will find out tomorrow. I'm just trying to be patient while the college is going through a very difficult temporary move. The former facility had been built 50 years ago, so they were used to the building, and now are living out of boxes practically until the new facility is finished.
On a positive note, my first water aerobics class was today. We get kicked out of the pool for the summer because of swim lessons for kids out of school. It felt very good.

well i am awake since 4.00am i just cannot sleep so much going around my head. I am meeting a specalist about my bowel movement issue (it feels like it cuts me when ever i have a bowel movement TMI) today so that is in my head. I also meet with The Irish Institute for Councellers and am thinking about doing there evenin degree. its three evenings a week and a good few saturdays for 4 years, I have the dedication its more the money over €4k per year - which i dont have but the employment prospects are great and same sallary as a GP or better, i could do another year then and get a masters degree I would be a Doctor. I may just have to put it off for a year or two.
Also my skin is really at me too I have this constant redness on my forehead, sometimes its bearly noticeable sometimes its like someone painted my forehead with red paint. and if you look close it tiny red pimples under my sink but its smooth to the touch. Tonight is the worst its ever been, also giving me this tingly feeling that woke me up. I washed and moisturised my face to find that now it is on my chin too I had never gone to the doctor about it because there was no feeling to it - just put it down to bad skin, or fertility drugs or eating s**t etc but now that it is tingeling i am thinking maybe stress or something and maybe i should see a dermatologist
Hbieber - well done on moving down a dress size that is always a great feeling. I am not sure the difference in the Irish clothes sizes and the US ones I think it is one size. I am a size 26 which then should be a size 24US I cannot wait till I get into a size 22 (20 US)

Good morning gals! Today I'm really struggling with allergies. My Allegra is just not even taking the edge off and I've had to start using my allergy eye drops again. My whole face itches and I just wonder where in the world all this snot is coming from! I don't know whether it's related or not, but the longest stretch of sleep I got last night was about 45 minutes. I woke up CONSTANTLY last night - like wide awake. Couldn't get comfortable, mind racing through just about everything, itchy face, sniffly nose, etc. etc. etc.
I feel a bit like I've been slugged with a sack of bricks this morning, so needless to say getting out of bed and going to the gym was very LOW on my list of priorities. I don't know that sleeping in did me any good, but I did it anyway.
Paradise: I would definitely see your doc about your skin - sounds frustrating! And how exciting about the possibility of starting school! Maybe it'll work out to get you started sooner. Btw.. I LOVE your little profile icon. Very cute :)
HB: Yay! for clothes shopping on super sale and in smaller sizes! :) And congratulations on good food choices at a pizza/fast food place! Maybe the scale will be kinder to you than you think!
Catherine: I'm sorry to hear about your class being cancelled, that must be so frsutrating. What all do you sew? I wish I was crafty!
Kayley: you are such an inspiration on the gym. You always go and your workouts always sound so tough! I wish you were closer so you could keep me motivated! I hope your leg feels better soon.
Cat: I know what you mean about not wanting to take pics, but you'll be glad you have a before picture. I took mine after a month of dieting and 19 lbs, and I wish I'd done it sooner because now that I'm 50 lbs down, I want to see ALL 50 lbs difference - not just the 30.
Ok, need to focus on work today!

I've spent the morning cleaning. I talked to the dean this morning, and the one last class that was at a time I could attend, can't be used for my degree, so I am officially off for the semester. I'll muddle through somehow. Next semester I'll have a car, so this will all just be a distant inconvenience. My next class with be Old Testament stuff, so I guess I can brush up on my Hebrew between now and then.
Tomorrow we have a football game with Calgary, one of our biggest rivalries. Kind of like Notre Dame/USC. They have pre-sold over 40,000 tickets, and since it is a Friday night, and the weather is supposed to be a beautiful 70 degrees at game time, we may get a few walk ups. They are even opening the gates early in anticipation of the crowds. I'm sure I will come home covered with grease and smelling of hotdogs, but I love it even as much as I complain.

Hey everyone,
My eyes are still bothering me I got some new drops so hopefully I can finally get rid of these eye infections. It's still hard for me to read so I can't read everyone's posts but as soon as I'm 100% I will see what's going on with everyone. I checked my weight yesterday and was happy to see that I've lost 50 pounds. It really shouldn't have taken so long to lose the 50 but now that I know what to do I should lose another 50 in no time. I hope everyone is doing great.

Savannah – My boyfriend is having a rough time with his Allergies as well. Hope you are feeling a bit better by now…I know how miserable they can be.

The scale is stuck and my inches have went down by half an inch so am not going to complain, just wish the scale would move, it's kind of hard to keep on track at work, when I am eating fewer calories and not drinking enough water, so my body is probably thinking oh no starvation mode again.
Have a good weekend everyone and good job on your goals.

Kayley - you go! I have been thinking about trying yoga but have been a little self-conscious that maybe at my size I won't be able to do all the positions and all that. Tell me I'm being silly and to get over myself! Allergies have had a little rest today, hoping its done for the season, but probably not. Yuckko.
Paradise: I use FitDay - it seems to be pretty accurate. It's free and allows you to track your activities and calories and body measurements and all that.
Southern Gal: WOOOOHOO!! I hit my 50 lb mark this week too. Only 9999 to go for me *laugh* :)
HB: Let us know how your weigh-in went. I don't know if the 5-mile walk will pull the pound off, but the positive attitude will help! I'm not up to 5 miles yet - but this weekend I attempt my first 5k (3.1 miles).
Tracy: Remember that muscle weighs more, so you it's totally possible to see changes in your figure but not see the scale move - it'll budge eventually. But congrats on the inches lost! Love that NSV!

Good morning gals. I slept pretty decent last night and so woke up raring to go to the gym. I guess I'm glad I took yesterday off, because my knees felt so much better today. I did the second day of Week 3 of the Couch to 5K program and did my lower body strength training this morning. It kicked my rear, but I did it. My heart rate was out of control on the last 15-20 seconds of the last run cycle (like 170 or something) so that's kinda scary.
Today I have ALOT to catch- up on to make up for how lazy I've been all week. I need to buckle down - anybody ever notice that when you focus entirely on one thing (for me, nutrition and health) other things go to pot?
Anyway, I took my first dose of my new vitamins today - it's a liquid blend of vitamins, full-spectrum minerals, amino acids and antioxidants. It tasted AWFUL. But hopefully it'll do me some good. The stuff is EXPENSIVE ($30/month/person). The trainers at my gym all use this stuff called VEMMA or VERVE and it's even twice as much.
I also took my measurements yesterday and I can report positive LOSSES in all areas - except my fore-arms. What's up with that!?
Ok - back to the grindstone!

My right leg is still pretty sore. So I took it kind of easy with cardio at the gym today. I got in 40 minutes of strength training…added in some new exercises that I learned from the trainer, and it was the best strength training workout I’ve had to date! :) Got in 20 minutes on the Stability Ball, mostly doing crunches, etcetera. Hoping to get in some more time later, perhaps something low impact like the Wii Fit. I’m bummed that the pool is already too cool, at the beginning of September, or I’d get some water walking/running/aerobics in. :(
ParadiseP – Have you signed up for SparkPeople? I’m doing calorie counting, and it’s a very valuable resource! It’s where I track my food & exercise daily. (And water consumption). When you sign up, they’ll give you a calorie range to follow based on your metabolic rate & your activity level. Definitely recommend it.
Savannah – I was VERY self conscious when I first started doing it. I’m not very advanced, but I found a great dvd a few years ago called “Yoga: Just My Size”; you can get it online for around $10, and the moves are good for people of ALL sizes. It’s taught by a plus size model, too, so that’s nice. It’s not a super intense workout, but it stretches you out, and you can really feel it in your legs and whatnot.
How many inches did you lose?! I love measurement days. Lol
Heather hb – Congrats!! That’s great. And very awesome to be out of the 3’s! Keep it up. :)

Catherine: I bet! I can imagine it takes a couple of washes to get the grease smell out of your hair and skin too! Have fun at the game!
Kayley: I'll have to check out that DVD. I don't really have room in my house to do yoga unless I chase my husband out of the living room. I do my measurements only once a month. So I did it at the beginning of June, the beginning of July, August and I'm a little later in September this month. Since June I've lost:
Neck: 1.5 inches - I guess I had a fat neck?
Chest: 9.5 inches
Bicept (each): 1.25 inches
Forearm: NONE! Gain of .25 inches!
Waist: 6.75 inches
Hips: 6.5 inches
Thigh (each): 3 inches
Calves (each): .5 inches
Hope I can keep it up. If I could lose 6.75 inches every 3 (ish) months, I could be a size 16 in 9 or 10 months. And a size 10 before next Christmas!

Good morning, all! I had quite a rough time falling asleep last night; I was up tossing & turning until about 3:30am, and then it was back up at 6:00am. :( I’m heading to class in about an hour, then hitting the gym, and then maybe I’ll be able to get a nap in. Although one of my professors went crazy with the homework this week, so maybe not. Heh.
Savannah – That’s quite spectacular! I do mine once a month as well. I’m slightly ridiculous, and also record the drop in my BMI, etc., once a month, too.
Heather hb – I always try to do that….just weigh ONCE a week, and not compulsively check EVERY single morning. I usually fail. Hope you are able to break the habit! Maybe I’ll try as well. :)
Cyn – Glad to hear that you’re moved in! Here’s to a less dramatic day. ;)
Catherine – Yikes! Get a good night’s sleep.
Beth – How are you? :)

Hey ladies...just stopping in quickly.
Someone asked me what I am preparing as raw foods (i can't remember who :/) and today I'm doing food prep on a few things. I did a huge store trip yesterday, supermarket and produce markets. We usually do the supermarket in doses, so we can get pantry items that I can prepare for my guy over the course of 2 to 3 weeks. Of course we visit the produce markets every week as I need the fresh veggies.
Today I'm making a vegan black bean salsa with fresh corn (not fully raw), a raw food/vegan caesar dressing (made up of sunflower seeds, cashews, and other tidbits). Tomorrow or on Monday, not sure yet, I'm going to prepare a mock tuna salad (nuts and seeds) and mango salsa. That should hold me over for a few days. I don't want to go crazay with the nuts, but I do need the fat, so I'm trying to keep things light and spread stuff out over the course of a week. :D
My weight is up, but I think it is TOM weight. I think that is a good thing...i'm very bloated. I also didn't eat that well the past few days. Had some things I wouldn't normally have. Like yesterday I had a vegan muffin, well "had" as in I took a bite and ate some. Really, things are too big. Like the portion sizes are huge these days. I can't eat a mega muffin. Too sweet etc...maybe i'm too picky.
I hope everyone is well. :D I'm fixing to go clean my kitchen and get some breakfast in me. YAY! :D *HUGS*

Well, i just finished doing a 4 mile walk and i feel better and im over what happened last night im just going to forget about it and keeping going forward with my weigh loss cause i am bound and determined to make it to 140 no matter how long it takes me cause i havent weighed that since i was probably 13 years old cause i remember my senior year of high school i weighed 180 and its only gotten worse since then.
oh, i wanted to tell you guys that i have a new incentive to get to 140 lbs and that is that i talked to my sister yesterday ( her and my dad live in texas) and she told me that when i get 140 that her and my dad will make a special trip up here just for that cause she wants to be able to give me a big hug and celebrate with me so im so excited about that!
Well, have a good afternoon everyone i will be back later

paradisep- start back today eating right...make a plan and do it. You will be so glad you did!!
I let myself slip this past summer and gained back almost 20lbs at one point. I was under alot of stress(hubby was sick) and I ate like everyone else. THE weight comes back on alot faster than it comes off. I am now back to just 9lbs above my lowest.I realize its going to take me a month or more to get it off. WHY DID I LET MYSELF do it?? YOu have worked to hard to gain it back..keep going!
Be sure and drink extra water to flush out the bad stuff..it really does help!
hugs

Good morning all! Yesterday, I totally rocked it in the gym. Lol….I thought I had gotten a killer workout in on Friday, but yesterday I had THE best workout of my life. Haha. I did 30 mins on the elliptical, then 15 mins on the recumbent bicycle. Then, I did an hour of strength training, and I worked EVERY single muscle group I have, and boy was I feeling it. I always sweat when I work out, but I was like dripping with it yesterday, and I take that as a good sign. Lol.
I have a photoshoot today with a local Metal band for promo shots & merchandise. That’s always good for a workout. You know, crouching, laying on the ground, hiking, squatting to get the shots. I’m always sweaty after a shoot. Heh. Going to hit the gym afterwards.
Hope you all have a GREAT Sunday!
Heather hb – Definitely would be a good incentive. :) I take it they live quite a ways away?
I absolutely LOVE The Biggest Loser! It’s the only reality show I watch. Actually, my Mom & I tried out for season 9 (next season) in Chicago in June. What an experience. lol
Catherine – Feeling any better today?
ParadiseP – Sometimes when I feel like going off plan…or I DO fall off, I try to think and rationalize my behavior. What exactly happened that you went off plan? Also, I did that, and gained back the 75 lbs I lost before, PLUS 20 more. It made me absolutely miserable, and I don’t want that to happen to you. I hope you are able to get back on track asap! *hugs*

YUG! Well today I'm watching the Chiefs play worse than most high school teams, and my tailgate food consists of a chicken bratwurst on wheat bun with fat-free miracle whip, baked cheetoes and a sugar-free koolaid. *sigh* Looks like 'm going to have to find satisfaction somewhere else today.

Good job Heather on hitting under 300 way to go. Ladies good job on the goals. *willing my scale to move for me but thinks I am gaining muscle instead of dropping pounds *

My feet are starting to feel better. I think I'm going to have to limit my work in the kitchen to 6 hours. I go over that, and it takes two days to recuperate.

lol Know just what u mean Catherine, my nursing shifts are 12-13 hours and I need the next day to recuperate! Annoying but true.
Hello ladies, hope u all are well :) I'm doing ok, going for a job interview in an hour or so, getting a bit nervous. Weight going ok, now 280. Limiting my carbs and walking the dogs and working quite a bit.
