Good morning and happy long weekend. There was a sprinkle of rain on the deck this morning which was a surprise. Did the weatherperson lie again? The forecast is for sunshine :sunny: right through until the end of next week. :)

The dogs are delighted to be home from the kennel although they were a bit puzzled about the new deck and the stairs being moved. Disney figured it out and the little guy followed along so life is back to normal for the next three days. Next week painting starts which will be another crew of new people for them to protect me from!

Since the diningroom is going to be painted, I need to unload all the stuff from my second china cabinet and the four sets of dishes from the big buffet so the furniture can be moved. I have enough stuff to open a restaurant. Once I make some decisions, I'll call in the local antique dealer who will buy some of the old pieces. I could sell it on e-bay but it's too much hassle.

Today I am going to do a super fridge cleaning. There's no plaster dust in there, I hope! ;) I need a quick trip to the store for yogurt and dog food and then it'll be an "at home" weekend with the food dryer in use the whole time, I hope. My sis and I may take the kids over to the park this afternoon but the rest of the weekend will be puttering around here.

What's happening on your long weekend? I hope it isn't all labour! :)

Good morning Ruth! I love the US holiday with the British/Canadian spelling. There's a fresh pot of coffee here, can I pour you a cup? I was all for sleeping in this morning but the cats would have none of it.

Sounds like things are really progressing. Can't wait to see pictures when it's done. Enjoy your at home weekend.

I didn't get as much done yesterday as I hoped. I've got a bit of the bug DP has, so moving a bit slow. I think today will be a fruit day - peaches, apples, maybe a last batch of blueberries. Time to start picking apples, always a fun break in the day. First I need to run the vac sealer. Still have multiple bottles of squash and greens waiting to be sealed. It will be nice to have the dehydrator running in the house again instead of in the hall. I love the smell of drying apples.

I need to drink some hot stuff to get me going. What's on tap for your weekend?

Happy Saturday! It's supposed to be a glorious week full of sunshine here, too. :)

I'm taking my car in for it's regular maintenance this morning, and making sure everything checks out before the long drive to Maine and back later in the week. We'll go next door to Cracker Barrel for a leisurely breakfast while we're waiting for it to be done, and then we have to get groceries.

We're having our big Labor Day BBQ tomorrow, so I'll be busy cooking and cleaning this afternoon while Jake is mowing the lawn and cleaning the pool. It's sad that swimming season is coming to an end, and we'll be closing up the pool next weekend already.

On Monday, I'll be heading over to my DD's in NJ so we can get the car all packed up with Caitlyn's stuff, and we plan take off for Maine in the wee hours of the morning.

Have a fun filled day, and be extra careful on the roads this holiday weekend!

Good morning!

Ruth - Glad it's starting to come together! I need to do a super fridge cleaning too, but I'm in a bit of denial. Better get a sword and flame thrower for that job, I'm not sure what's back there!!!

Cyndi - OH! Hope you don't have much of that bug!! You better rest and take care of sickie for the wedding!

Cottage - Enjoy your prep day and barbeque! I'm a bit jealous of the Cracker barrel thing!

Me - Work. So sad. It's a packed day (why have we been so crazy lately?), but that's good, hopefully it will go fast. We really don't have other plans for the weekend...just work on stuff with the house. Knowing my DH, we'll go somewhere sometime, he just can't stand being still very long. It is the first PennState home football weekend, so we avoid campus like the plague!

Have a great weekend ladies!

Good morning all.

Survived classes with my son yesterday with help from another prof who was there to take him for a stroll when he started throwing handfuls of cheerios on the classroom floor. Other than that and some yelling during my lecture he was okay...until last night when he wouldn't stop crying from 12:15 to about 2 and we finally gave in and did the wrong thing - gave him a bottle. He went right to sleep then, but we know it's not good and will set up more problems. We were just dying to sleep ourselves!

Dh IS still asleep, lucky dog. Ds is a little sneezy and congested sounding today, but full of energy. Of course.

Starved last night when I finally got dinner. I picked up two unwiches for me, an unwich and a regular sandwich for dh, and gorged myself, WITH a glass of wine. Down a pound today, so okay!

Sorry you have to work TwynnB. Cyndi I hope you never actually get sick and just brush this off. Everyone else, enjoy your day. I'm angling to go to a local amusement park we've never been to.

09-05-2009, 09:42 AM
Good Morning Everyone:sunny:

Hi, Ruth. Thanks for getting us started this morning. I'm happy to hear you have a reprieve from all the hustle and bustle. Those cabinets sure sound like a bit of work....and the fridge too. I'm like Twynn, in a bit of denial there, but something is going to have to happen. I've been getting all the overflow from our family dinners. Enjoy your long weekend.

Cyndi, I chuckled about your kitty wake up. At our house early morn is kitty bounce off the wall time. Its so fun to watch the kitty krazies. Take care of yourself today. I hope DP is feeling better. Picking apples sounds wonderful. Have a great day.

Cottage, have fun preparing for your bash AND vacation. Nice to have days off before you leave. I'm greatful I can swim year round, but you're so lucky to have a pool right at home.

Twynn, you're post reminded me how crazy the college towns are during football season.! I had to go pick up Lexi's xrays from another clinic near Aspen last night. When I asked their hours, they are open 24/7. What a concept. I guess all the vets in our entire area refer all after hour emergencies to the clinic, then they return to their own vet during regular hours. I was very impressed-must be all my years in Alaska. Hope work is smooth and you are home to enjoy your weekend soon.

Daisy, hope you make it to your amusement park. It sounds like a day off is in order.

Me, heading out in an hour for our daily dog walk...then to the pool...and lunch at 11 on the patio of our Hotel Colorado. Its beautiful and has much history. Molly Brown had a suite there, and the two most frequent guests were Teddy Roosevelt and Al Capone. They both came to hunt for bear up on the flat tops. Our sad news is that although we won't have biopsy results until Wed, that the concurance between multiple vets is that Lexxiss has osteosarcoma. The good news is that the best vet in our state has agreed to see her as necessary when she drives by to teach on Tuesdays. We're going to discuss diet, chinese herbs and pain management this week. My vet said she will be our miracle worker. It seems we have a little time together..I hope.

I'll touch base later.

Morning all! Rushing to get some yard stuff done before it starts raining.

Football season (LSU) starts tonight, so I have to go get my husband's customary hot dogs later on and will have an evening of hiding out in my room with the tv and netbook posting grades and grading tests. Sounds like heaven..I love football season..lots of girltime for me!

This week at school was much better than last, except my smartboard keeps going out. I think the projector is overheating and I think I found the problem..maybe a dirty filter so have to pick up some canned air this weekend. I have come to depend on that board and computer for all my lessons since I make powerpoint files for the kids to "see" while I teach, so it HAS to work or I may have to use ***gulp*** CHALK..ick, I hate chalk, it gives me the willies and I think all I have is a little chunk of green chalk somewhere.

09-05-2009, 11:01 AM
Debbie: I'm so sorry to hear about Lexxiss. I lost a kitty last year to lymphoma after we fought it for almost two years. She did go into remission for about 10 months and those were really good times - there's a lot that can be done now. Also, I LOVE Molly Brown. I toured her home in Denver and everything just felt so "right" - even her green bedroom!

Femmecreole: With you on not liking chalk. Ick. We have white boards with markers, but I can see that not being ideal for rooms with younger kids. I have a friend in an academic (non-teaching) position at LSU but she's being laid off (along with several others) next month. Hard times.

09-05-2009, 11:51 AM
Daisy, my husband also works at a university (university's main frame computer) and so far, so good, but they have been down to a skeleton crew for several years (someone has to be there 24/7) and really can't cut any more...hopefully. Keeping our fingers crossed.

My kids all have individual white boards and after a little training (no, you can't draw pictures, you have to write answers!!) they get it. But I love my smartboard and can't live without it!

Good morning all,

Woke up to rain and more rain!!! Not sure when it will let up, if it doesn't stop raining then DH and DS will go to Illini vs Mizzou Football game, if does stop then I guess I am on for going as DS is scheduled to lifeguard at outdoor pool today. Atleast the game is at the Dome in St. Louis so no rain there.

I am going to tackle DD's bedroom today, I took a cute picture of DD2 putting on "lipstick" before DS football game last night and then notice the background of the picture!!! Yikes talk about a messy bedroom stuff everywhere in the background. Time to get tough about toys some of them have to go.

Scale moved down a lb, not onderland yet but I will take it.

Ruth- enjoy your "downtime" but I think cleaning the fridge and emptying cupboards is work.

Cyndi- hope you just got a minor version of bug.

Cottage- Have fun on your trip, I need to go back to Maine to visit haven't been there in 15 years and that is where my two oldest were born.

Tywnn- Have a good day at work hopefully it will go quickly

Daisy- sounds like it went fairly well with DS in class yesterday.

Debbie- Have fun and enjoy your lunch.

Cat- Enjoy your girl time today.

Have a great day everyone

Almost made it to Sam's today to get a rotisserie chicken but got paged before I got there. Maybe I'll stop by after I workout with the trainer this afternoon.

I've been having major computer issues with my home laptop. It keeps going into sleep mode when I try to boot up and even shuts down unexpectedly. I spent almost 3 hours on the phone with HP tech support last night and I'm waiting for the next level of support to give me a call back. I did manage to get onto Facebook long enough to put a status before it crashed this last time. I guess it's good it happened now since I had 15 days left on the warranty so I have now paid for an extended warranty. Oops, it just crashed again. Good think it stayed up long enough that I got all the files backed up but this has been a huge waste of time.

Monday's a vacation day but that's the day I go from secondary on call to primary so I have to stay near the computer. :(

09-05-2009, 04:03 PM
Good day everyone! :)

Not too much going on today. I need to plan my menu for next week and go to Costco before the weekend is over. I'm going to have to cook a lot ahead of time since my busy season has begun. Also, because the kids start school next week. This is do or die time for me. I already know it's a do as I have a lot of things to look forward to that I want to be able to do 50 pounds lighter. :)

I'm not sure where I'll go to celebrate the holiday. Staying home to rest up for next week sounds good to me. I have a few friends who are having parties, barbecues or hanging out at the beach. We'll see what happens.

May you all have a wonderful Labor Day weekend!

09-05-2009, 04:56 PM
I think I bought an SUV today! We won't actually pay for it till Tuesday when the banks open again. It's a 2002 GMC Yukon XL -- leather, 3rd row seats, very nice. The outside is perfect. The inside has a couple of little problems. But we are getting such a good deal on the truck, we can fix the problems. I am very excited!

Hope you all have a great Labor Day holiday.

09-05-2009, 05:37 PM
Congratulations! :)

09-05-2009, 06:50 PM
Well the family all hit the road after lunch. We really had a nice time. I'm hangin' at home doing a little picking up and a little tv watching (Lexi on the couch) Fit TV is doing all the cooking shows. Leftovers for dinner tonight...not much. That's an accomplishment for me.
Chelby, congrats on the Yukon. You will love it!
Pearlrose, congrats on your weight loss.
Daisy, funny the things we have in common. I grew up in Leadville, where Molly and Johnny Brown made their fortune.
Barb, I hope your computer problem gets resolved.
Sunshine, enjoy your weekend. I, too, have things to look forward to at a lower weight. We're gettin' there!
Cat, enjoy your girltime! Hmm...can't decide which is worse, chalk or screeching styrofoam....

09-05-2009, 06:58 PM
Debbie, Last night we test-drove a Tahoe.. My favorite part of it was that Auston called it a ToeHa!

09-05-2009, 07:34 PM
Chelby, isn't a Yukon pretty much the same thing, just a little fancier?

09-05-2009, 10:53 PM
I think a Yukon and a Tahoe are the same thing, but one is GMC and one is Chevy. The Yukon we are getting is an XL, so it's the same length as a Suburban. Jeff is a bit jealous because my engine is bigger than his.

09-05-2009, 11:32 PM
Hi chicks,
I had a lovely day. I swore I was going to enjoy the weekend and not think about work once, so far, so good. I did my farmer's marketing this morning, and we hung out at the pool this afternoon. Went to movie on the green this evening, and DH filled in for the pastor setting up and running the movie. DS has a friend over now. My friend called and needs to go to the emergency room for irregular heartbeat. She is going to drop her kids off and I need to think about where to put them. Luckily I have enough beds for all six. Hopefully they will sleep, because I plan to!

Tomorrow, some cleaning in the morning (once all the kids are gone) and then we'll probably go hiking.
Hope your weather is lovely and you are all enjoying the weekend!

09-06-2009, 07:55 AM
Good morning!

We all slept in until six this morning so it was nice to get up in twilight instead of the pitch black that's out there between four and five! That's the one thing I hate about winter although I can handle the dark at the end of the day. Anyhow it's going to be gloriously sunny and about 75F for the rest of the week.

Church this morning is a parish service in the next town at 10:30 so that will take care of the morning. I do like the 8:30 service in our wee church but we combine congregations every two months or so. They are expecting me to be there with a dog so I think Jazz will be the one today. Disney is inclined to join the hymn singing with the odd bark which bothers me more than it bothers the rest of the congregation. Jazz just does his "stuffed dog" act and sits on the pew.

This afternoon I will work in some gardening and harvest some more lovely green beans. I am absolutely thrilled with my raised bed and how quickly things grow in it. I may pull the rest of the beets and plant some more spinach or chard if I can find the seeds. There are two more months before freeze up although we will start getting frosts in a month but those two plants can take it.

Time for breakfast and list making. I'm relaxing today but tomorrow IS Labour Day!

How's your long weekend shaping up?

09-06-2009, 08:05 AM
Good morning. :coffee:

Thank goodness the sun is shining, as we're having our huge Labor Day BBQ today. I have to run out to the store for a few last minute things, but other than that, I'm ready. :)

Tomorrow I'll pack a bag and head over to Monica's so we can get it loaded up with Caite's stuff to take back to school. We plan to leave in the wee hours of Tuesday morning so we can be above NYC before the rush hour traffic.

We picked our first watermelon from our garden yesterday and have it chilling in the fridge for today's BBQ. I can't wait to see how it tastes!

09-06-2009, 08:31 AM
Good morning :coffee2: I'm giving two cats away - anyone want them? They're very cute until about 5:30 in the morning, then they are way less adorable, bordering on darned annoying. Okay, I'd never really give them away but this morning I was fantasizing about it when I could have been sleeping.

Ruth - Now I'm thinking about one more planting. My last planting didn't do too well for some reason. Maybe I'll try one more bed of kale and chard. I've picked kale in the snow so know that does well in fall.

Cottage - Have a lovely BBQ! Bet that watermelon will be fabulous. I love fresh fruit season. Right now we have cantaloupe, peaches, apples, plums and pears in the house - all from local farms.

Debbie - You and Lexi are in my thoughts.

Schmoodle - Clever way to get your weekly menu planned!

Chelby - I was thinking of you and Auston the other night. A friend has a son a year or two older who refers to swine flu as hiney flu (H1N1) - such a boy thing to come up with.

Sunshine - you will get through the busy time. It's so obvious that you like how you feel now and that's plenty of motivation for staying on track.

Deanna - We all have those moments of making a parent choice we think we shouldn't and our kids survive it (hey somehow mine made it to 28). Sometimes you just need to get some sleep, makes you a better (and less cranky in my case) mom :)

Cat - enjoy your time

Pearl, Barb & Twynn - hope you're all finding time to relax a little this weekend :)

Not sure what today has in store. We both feel better so are toying with a drive to Trader Joe's for cheeses for the party next weekend. I'd like to hike up the mountain to see what's happening at the hawk watch too, but not sure if that's too much exercise for DP. Of course there are chores I could do too. Need to figure out the next dehydrator items. Whatever we do I'm sure there will be some work and some fun :)

:crossed: looks like the nice weather will hold through next weekend. I really hope they are right!

09-06-2009, 09:09 AM
Good morning!!

Cottage -LOVE the new pic!!

Yesterday, work was work. I was all excited to go home, enjoy the gorgeous day, get some stuff done...and DH wanted to go to Lowes/home depot. Well, okay. So we went. DS was HORRID. When do they outgrow the tantrums!!!??? He's SIX years old, the four year old acts better. He has a meltdown when he doesn't get what he wants. I certainly don't give it to him (I'm the mean one!!), and my DH has gotten better. Of course, then DH thought we needed to bring them to a park to get energy, NO?!?!? Rewarding bad behavior?!?! Anyway, made for a crappy day. Sorry to vent!

Hopefully, today will be better. If DH insists on going out and about, he can go by himself!! I want to stay in my home, enjoy the day, and get some cleaning/arranging done (how long does it take to unpack?). I have stuff to make apple salad (not so on plan, but YUMMY!! and DD eats it!), broccoli salad, and black bean salad.

Enjoy the day! Hope your weather is as beautiful as mine!!

09-06-2009, 09:47 AM
Hi Everyone:sunny:

Happy Sunday! I can't believe some of you in the northeast have 2 more months before freeze up. We can have nice 80 degree days here and there all winter, but we have already covered the tomato patch because the killing freeze just sneaks up any time.

Sounds like you all have your day mapped out. We are going to take the dogs to the river for their walk then concentrate on stuff at home. The last 2 cases of peaches we bought are from Washington (darn) and although they were supposed to be freestone they aren't. Not dehydrator friendly. I'm still trying to reorganize after departure of the rest of the family, so that's my main project this morning. Kirk is having a hard time with everything-it's a guy thing-I wouldn't call it bad mood but depressed-which I hope will pass. I think its the shift from denial to reality.

I'm really commited to getting through everything as food healthy as possible. Losing control of my eating at this point isn't going to help anything. to work I go.

Have fun everyone! Cottage and Ruth, I really enjoy your new pics!

09-06-2009, 09:58 AM

Sounds like everyone is having a really busy weekend so far, both with good things and tricky things. Schmoodle, I hope your friend is okay and that everyone slept okay!

Speaking of sleep, ds had a MUCH better night and so did we. But we didn't get to our amusement park yesterday. Dh got pulled into helping install a giant picture window at his brother's house for "an hour" that eventually became four hours. By the time he got home and said he was already to go, it was 3:30, it takes an hour to get there, and we have a 14 month old. So it clearly wouldn't happen, but we're going to try again today, and hide from all phone calls.

I got a little weird yesterday and may have gone off-plan with on-plan foods. Too much fatty deli meat stuff and probably an off-plan imported cheese that I rarely find and LOVE (it's a sheep cheese from the Basque region of the Pyrenees in France/Spain). I bought a tiny wedge and ate almost half of it in the car. Sigh. I also bought a ton of frankenfood stuff, so right now I'm trying a calorie free "peanut spread" on some string cheese "crackers". Hmmm. I know I can have real peanut butter, but I was just curious what this was like. Might be a better dessert thing. Odd.

Anyway, I hope the rest of the weekend goes really well for everyone!

09-06-2009, 10:03 AM

So you have a Molly Brown thing too? Hee. She was just such an interesting woman and seems to have lived with a lot of enthusiasm. I thought Denver was a beautiful city at the time, although I have painful memories - my partner at the time took a job out there and was cheating on me with a local. Lots of signs, but he denied it and threatened to take me to the airport and leave me there two days before my flight if I persisted in talking about it. I was flat broke, it was snowing... so I shut up. We didn't last, obviously, even though we'd been together 10 years. Bad times, but such good memories of Denver and Steamboat Springs...

TMI. Sorry!

09-06-2009, 11:34 AM
Daisy, At least you have one fond memory of Colorado. Ouch!

I, too, went a bit off plan with on plan foods. I DO think this is better than the alternative. I'm planning ahead to do better today. Cyndi, and others, talk of their on plan foods that are a trigger for overeating, and I'm trying to remember that. Grneydmustang mentioned 5 triscuits turning into 10, and I definitely relate. Best wishes today!

09-06-2009, 05:28 PM
Hello everyone,

Sounds like everyone is having an enjoyable Sunday.

DS ending up going with DH to football game so me and my 2 DD went shoe shopping, DD1 found shoes to go with her homecoming dress. Can you say 3 inch heels (I hate heels btw hehe). We got them for a steal Dillards was having a clearance sell on shoes. I was surprised at how busy the mall was but there was a lot of teenagers there shopping for Homecoming items.

I took a big rubbermaid container of toys out of DD room and we still have a ton left but the room is pretty much organized, just have to finish up a couple of areas and I am done.

Just finished cleaning the whole house so now I can relax for the night and tomorrow.

Have a great evening everyone.

09-07-2009, 05:55 AM
Sunshine, enjoy your weekend. I, too, have things to look forward to at a lower weight. We're gettin' there!

I will and am thus far! :) Bought some new "work clothes" while I was doing last minute school shopping with my daughter. Picked a few off-duty things as well as accessories. It's so fun to shop in a smaller size. ;)

We are getting there indeed! ;)

Sunshine - you will get through the busy time. It's so obvious that you like how you feel now and that's plenty of motivation for staying on track.

Thank you Cyndi! I truly believe this will be the year that I'm successful! :) My pantry/fridge are fully stocked and my menu is planned for the week. Some things I may pre-cook and I'm ready to make it a go! :)

09-07-2009, 07:50 AM
Good morning on the third day of a long weekend which looks pretty busy for most of us.

Yesterday I ended up raking and lugging grass clippings from my new neighbour's huge lawn. They are a young couple and asked to borrow a rake - they're not officially moved in. I now have a lovely big pile to use for mulching. :carrot: The dogs and I also managed some sewing time on the porch.

Today the village empties as our summer people migrate home. :( Ontario schools open tomorrow - late this year - so there will be a mass exodus. The villagers will go "Whew!" and say they are glad to have their village back but the cottagers and campers are a real boon to this wee town. The grocery store and the liquor store rely on them. There will be gloom at the Diner tomorrow when Bob announces that he's cutting back his hours. :(

This morning I am going to try to put some order into this crack house. I have decided to pack away the stuff I want the antique dealer to evaluate until after the chaos ends. My kitchen needs some loving care too, particularly as I am expecting Ian to drop in on his way home today. There will NOT be pie!

Time to get another coffee, make a list and just get on with it. It IS Labour Day - Labor Day in the States.

09-07-2009, 08:48 AM
Good morning :coffee2: It's another cool and sunny day here. I could really get used to this weather.

Ruth - Our lawn reached hay field status and I've been using the clippings as the base for next year's lasagna garden :) With all the fungus infections around here I think a brand new tomato bed may be just the thing.
We will have a few quiet weeks here and then foliage season will be here followed by ski season. Maybe we don't get enough stretches without tourists to actually appreciate them ;)
Enjoy your cleaning and organizing day. Hope you find a little time for enjoying that new porch too. (love that picture!)

Sunshine - I didn't do this for the smaller sizes but I sure do like them ;) Bag those big sizes up and drop them at the Goodwill. I'm a big believer in making it hard and uncomfortable to regain that darned weight.

Pearl - I always did my best cleaning when DD was out. She still jokes about her She Ra castle though - never played with the darned thing but knew she had it ;)

Debbie - Hope the sun is out and you and Lexi are enjoying a leisurely walk and some cuddle time. So far I've dried and frozen peaches. I was tempted by another box yesterday but not sure I have the time to deal with it. hmmm

Deana - That stuff might slow your weight loss but shouldn't trigger cravings. Just hop back on plan today. I do miss real cheeses and on rare occasions indulge in small pieces of my favorites (strong blues are right up there on my list). I discovered that my tastes really have changed though. The other night I decided to eat a small piece of brie and found it absolutely repulsive. All that fat was just not appealing anymore. Those little victories may make all the difference.

Twynn- I think DD outgrew tantrums around 20. I hear boys are easier though ;)

Okay, off to figure out what this day will look like. Hope your day is filled with fun and sunshine

09-07-2009, 08:53 AM
Good Morning, Ruth. Who is your doggie friend in the picture? He has a happy face. :) We live in the woods with neighbors few and far between. But those neighbors have dogs who travel and visit us. Last night, we had a Labor Day party in the pavilion. Two dogs visited, a female Pyraneese and a male American Bulldog, -- and acted bad. The female was crowned 'alpha dog'. Molly, our old lab mix, just watched. I walked around all night with a fly swat shooing dogs away from the serving table.

Nothing fun on the schedule for today. Lots of laundry and cleaning. I'm making a pot of beans with a ham bone. I hope someone does something fun, so I can live vicariously through them

09-07-2009, 09:45 AM
Shoot. Did something on the computer, lost everything I typed!!

Cyndi - you're NOT encouraging me!! I think things will be somewhat better after school starts tomorrow, since they'll have ample time away from each other.

Ruth - Don't take that "labor" day thing too seriously!! Hope you have some time to relax!!

Chelby - YUM! I'm thinking of making a pot of baked beans for a barbeque today too :D.

Me - Having friends over today for a barbeque. Did a lot of cleaning yesterday, still need to make sure the potties are ready for guests!! I'm looking forward to cheeseburgers on the grill though :D. I've been using those 100% whole wheat sandwich thins for buns...I've gotten to prefer them because regular buns are so big!!

Hope everyone enjoys the last day of the holiday weekend!

09-07-2009, 10:06 AM
Chelby, the dog in the picture is my wee Jazz. He looks a lot like my Portuguese Water dog Lucy looked as a puppy but is only ten pounds.

Twynn, I used those ww thin buns and was shocked to discover they are higher in calories than the regular ww ones! Perhaps my burger buns are smaller than the ones in the States.

The heat is on this morning with the blower going as usual. There is a drop sheet over the floor vent in the diningroom and my two idiot dogs are barking at the big balloon. They think there is someone or something under there and keep dashing over to sniff and bark. Too funny! Jazz has also decided to gather up the bit of plaster from the floor and bring them up onto the dark green loveseat. Not so funny! I think it's time to go outside.

09-07-2009, 10:36 AM
Good morning,

Last night we relaxed and went and rented videos and just stayed home. Today is supposed to be nice so we are going to go to Six Flags as this is the last day for the Water Park.

Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning:sunny:

I slept in a bit, and had a panic moment when I thought it was Tuesday. Good thing I check in here. Tomorrow I have important appointments, but for today I can do what I want....dehydrator is emptied, bananas are on deck, peaches not ripe enough and a load of tomatoes in the old one ready later on walk....pool and stationary bike....home by 11....

Chelby, you can come with us. Bring Molly, she'd fit right in.

Ruth, wow, another busy day! Doggie stories crack me pie for Ian...has he been informed? Enjoy your day.

Cyndi, sounds like another day in paradise. Our tourist break starts tomorrow thru mid November when skiing starts. We have another lull when skiing ends in late March until Memorial Day. Although its chilly, its the best time at the pool. The coldest swim day for me last year was -2.

Twynn, enjoy those cheeseburgers AND your day off.

Pearlrose, have fun at the park!

Schmoodle, hope your friend is better.

Happy Labor Day, Chickies!

Amber and Carley decided to stay overnight last night, and were up at daybreak, begging to go to Cracker Barrel for pancakes. They must have worked up quite an appetite overnight, as they both ate huge breakfasts!
I plan to be out of here and headed over to DD's within the hour, and we'll drop off Amber on the way. Caitlyn has promised to have all her stuff organized and ready to be loaded into the car, so we'll be all ready to leave tomorrow morning at 4am for the long drive to Maine.

Have a great holiday!

Hello hello all.

Yesterday we did make it to Michigan's Adventure, which was actually a lot of fun, even if we did limit our ride choices to things like the carousel and "Winky the Whale". Ds was great, had a lot of fun and was patient with extra stroller time. I DID have an ice cream cone, but it was planned, and I went back on-plan right afterward. And how's this for planning? I brought little whole wheat flat bread/pita things and when I got a hamburger, took it off the bun and had it in proper Phase 2 style in my own "bun". The ice cream made me sleepy but I had no major cravings or hunger pangs.

Dh and I did take turns riding something called "Falling Star" which is kind of a platform that stays upright on a spinning wheel. Gave me the giggles.

Pearlrose, I hope your own theme park day is fun.

Back OP today with dinner in a steakhouse tonight. I downloaded their menu and am ready. Made soy flour pancakes this morning - not bad. How's everyone doing this last day of the long weekend?

Ruth, My cat who recently died, Clovis, was 16 pounds in her hay-day. :)

How's everyone doing this last day of the long weekend?

I'm doing well, thanks. I am finding myself to be less inhibited about asking for substitutions (when avaliable) and bringing my own. I wish I would have brought a few ww crackers to dinner the other night.

Good job hopping right back on the bus. Have a great rest of your day off.

Hi Chelby!

I wanted to sleep in this morning but got paged. Only two short pages today so far so I've only worked a couple of hours.

I finally called the vendor back about my computer when I still hadn't heard from level 2. While working with this level 1 guy, the level 2 guy called to say he would call me back in a few hour. No word yet but level 1 had me do a lot of stuff and right now it looks like a hardware issue. I now know how to take out my DVD player and hard drive and swap my memory cards though so I've learned a bit.

I pick up Brian at 7. So far I have managed to vacuum and mop and made chicken salad from the leftover rotisserie chicken.

The joys of working in InfoSystems, eh Barb? I used to hate being paged- especially at two in the morning. In those days we couldn't debug online but had to go in and plough through a huge paper dump!

I hope everyone had a good long weekend. Tomorrow seems like New Years Day to me. I guess it comes from going to school for so long as both a student and a teacher. The summer folk are gone and the village should be very quiet tonight as all the kids start back to school tomorrow.

See you in the morning!

Hi Debbie! :D When I did Weight Watchers, I carried FF salad dressing in my purse. I really hate FF salad dressing!

Barb, Chicken salad from rotisserie chicken is my favorite!

Ruth, Your ticker is looking great!

Tomorrow at work, three of us will be starting Phase 1. I'm the only one who is familiar with SBD. The other two have read the book, or should have. The problem is the one in the office who is NOT on the Beach. She brings donuts -- regularly. I may have to knock her off. ;)

Hope your weekend was as good as mine. :)

Good evening,

We had a wonderful time at the park, not crowded at all today. The water park was almost deserted, the water was a tad cold but you adjusted. Now I have to gear up for tomorrow, I have a class all day, mandatory so no choice, so I will probably be MIA tomorrow. But I had a completely op weekend, I am so excited my brain is in the right place again.

Sunshine - I didn't do this for the smaller sizes but I sure do like them ;) Bag those big sizes up and drop them at the Goodwill. I'm a big believer in making it hard and uncomfortable to regain that darned weight.

I agree 100% Cyndi! I'm also a big giver to Goodwill. However, some of the things are new purchases that are already too big. Maybe I'll get rid of the older things. ;)

 to you too Debbie! ;)

Sunshine, I have some newer really nice things, too. I have put a few things in a different part of my closet to give to a group that helps clothe women trying to get into the job force.

Keeping them in the regular part of the closet-like I might wear them again isn't good for my head.

I just bought a very nice shirt at Goodwill. I'm not putting any $$ into nicer clothes right now unless I buy them smaller than I'm wearing. It's worked so far, I'm fitting into stuff I've never worn.
