Hello and welcome to a new month ladies!

I'm finally doing it - I'm joining WW next Friday. Well, I'm signing up today and starting meetings next Friday. I find that I really need the group setting and accountability to be successful losing weight. A friend of mine and I are going together. I'm actually excited about it, I hope I do as well this time as I have in the past with a similar program.

I hope you are all having a wonderful day!

Good luck Gale! I can't afford anything like that, so I have to keep the determination to do it on my own. It's much eaiser now since hubby gained 20 pounds with this last pregnancy (no, that isn't a joke!!) and is very deterimed to get back to where he was when we got married... I want to get back to where I was in highschool.

Welcome badhorse!

Good job Kim for getting on that scale... let's go, we can knock those pounds off together!

I'm doing good. Just had my first TOM since he was born.. what a nightmare.

A friend of mine & I have started an accountability thing between the two of us. We have similar goals & the daily e-mails are really motivating.

I'm realllllly struggling to find the right time to go to the gym. Between not feeling particularly motivated for the hard work & dh working long hours I haven't been all week. I'm actually considering going after ds is settled for the night which with his sleep schedule as of late that would mean after 10:00pm. I'm a night owl so it just might work but it still seems like a crazy idea.

Ok today is my birthday and I've done horribly. hehe

I'm doing an experiment. I only lost 3 lbs in August, dieting every day and exercising/running 4 to 5 times a week. I decided to start zig zagging my calories again and my sister and I decided to do the more extreme alternate day fasting. I'm not doing it completely...I'm doing 400/2000 ish. lol I say "ish" because I've worked it where I only do 400 on three days per week...and my average is 1400-1600 calories.

I've lost 2 lbs so far. Almost better than the whole month of August. I know it's extreme, but I'm kinda liking it right now. I'll let you know. I'm going to do an official weigh in on the 14th (although I weigh everyday). If I can stand it--and it works...then i'll keep on doing it.

ETA: Lifeguard---I routinely exercise after 10pm. No other time! Last time I lost 80 lbs I exercised at like 2 and 3am (pre-baby).

I acutally have upped my calories and am losing quite well. I'm now between 1,800 and 2,000 a day, closer to the 2,000 end. I have also been doing a half hour of cardio all week, every morning (while my spoiled errr well loved baby lays on the floor to watch me and cry :( ). I have to do this for me and he can cry for a few minutes. He spends pretty much every second he is awake in someones arms, he can give me this time, it's only a half hour while I do a video (Walk Away the Pounds 2 mile videos, I have the high cal burn and the high cal burn for abs that I'm rotating right now , I also have most of her others). This morning the scale said I am down to 233, the lowest I can remember being in a really really long time!

Hey guys! These past couple weeks I haven't been exercising, still dieting, and I haven't gained any back but haven't really lost any either. Today I finally got off my arse and started 30DS! It totally kicked my butt! I plan on doing it Sun, Mon, Wed, Thurs and Fri.

I have to do it in the morning while the boys are up, because if I wait until they go down for a nap I'm so relieved to get a break that I really just don't feel like working out. It worked out fine! Despite Isaac climbing all over me, but I guess that's good too, makes it harder, ya know?

OMG Kayla, I'm terrified of the 30DS!!! I think that may be one of my treats to myself when I get to Onederland, by then I should be more than used to working out. I have TurboJam that I want to start when I hit 225 (my little rewards to myself are new workouts as I go down..lol). I'm also looking at the Zumba videos... they look fun :)

I went to my first WW meeting yesterday. It was really good, I think this is going to work for me. I've found that I'm one who really needs the group accountability and support, so this should be perfect! It's hard to get back into the counting and recording again, but it won't take me long to make it a habit.

I'm excited!

i am struggling with being soooo hungry while nursing and also the stress of 2 children. I am a stress eater. I am trying to figure out a way to deal that isn't eating. I would love any suggestions. I really love having this group. I can relate to so much of what each of you post. You all rock.

Tara, I tend to eat over stress too. I have been filling my water cup (32oz) and drinking the whole thing every time that I start to feel the need to eat something over the kids screaming and fighting and what not. I do still find myself in the peanutbutter jar over it at times.. so I take 1 spoon, not heaping like I normally would, and shove the jar to the back of the cupboard to get it less accessable, then I eat the PB and log it in my fitday and TRY to move on.

Hi everyone. I'm nursing, too, and glad to find this group.

I too have been having a hard time with hunger issues lately, too. I've actually upped my calories a little and am having more success, both in avoiding slip-ups and in weight loss. It's hard to know how many calories I should be consuming to account for nursing because my little nursling is completely unpredictable. One day he'll nurse only twice and the next he nurses constantly. I'm sort of doing my best to follow hunger cues. I figure if I am hungry it's better to go off track with healthy snack than allowing myself to self-sabotage.

We just had Cameron's 4 month appointment... he is up to 16.9 pounds! I was beginning to worry about how my calorie consciousness was affecting him, but obviously it's not! I started counting calories right after his 2 month check up, he weighed 13 then.

I'm still doing good, I have to update my ticker, but I'm down to 230.. that's 21 pounds since July 20th when I started this!! I am down 28 pounds from my prepregnancy weight... and I have finally been able to go down a size in jeans (the belly doesn't seem to want to lose weight at the same rate as the rest of me).

Welcome saysumthing and justaloser. Oh there is also a Valentines Day challenge in the 100 pound support thread. I can't wait to be a Vixen for Valentines day!!!!

Well I'm doing something a little goofy. My sister and I are trying something a little different. We've been counting calories and zig zagging. Works, but I only lost 3 lbs the entire month of August.

So here's my new schedule.
M/W/F--- I eat 400-500 calories per day (I space it out so I get a little bit for breakfast, lunch and supper).

T/Th/S/Sun---I eat "normally" but don't measure every little thing. I don't go totally berserk and try to stick to 2000 to 2500 per day. I still count these calories. I may use one day to go nuts. lol

So far I've lost 4 lbs in about 2 weeks. I've been getting compliments all week about losing weight. Totally worth it to be hungry 3 days to have the bliss of just eating a dang salad like a normal human being. I just wanna eat a freaking SALAD and add a tiny bit of cheese...tiny bit of walnuts...good dressing...and not care that it adds up to 400 or more calories!!! I wanna eat as many GRAPES as I want. I wanna eat as much watermelon as I want. Sure I want cookies, but I am really just missing out on fruit and veggies. I want garden fresh peas my dad picked and not freak out over measuring them and/or not having a label to tell me *exactly* how many calories.

I will say it gets nuts on the "fasting" days. I made a crockpot roast and tasted a carrot. I nearly spit it out--worried that it was going to ruin my diet. Lol, a carrot! It was just bc it was a low calorie day though--the next day I a nice bowl of roast, potatoes, and carrots with no guilt!

When I get tired of this, I'll just go back to regular and less severe zig zagging.

Saikin, it sounds like what you are doing is rather dangerous, especially if you're nursing. You should never go below 1200 calories in a day, 1700-1800 if you're nursing is the bottom. 400 calories isn't enough to sustain life, much less milk production. Just my 2 cents, but I wouldn't do anything I couldn't sustain long term (especially because not eating makes me a raging maniac, I am MEAN when I'm hungry.) Have you tried leveling out those calories and seeing how it goes?

Hey ladies!

I got my head back in the game today after losing my focus a bit. I spent some time doing some exercises on the floor (and I learned that pushups are much less painful when I've got a baby to smooch at the bottom each time!) and then I tried out my Walking Away The Pounds DVD. Baby girl was being a bit fussy so I didn't know if a real walk outside with her would end up working, so I popped her in the wrap and we walked a mile with the DVD. She fell asleep less than half way through and her weight burned a couple of extra calories I'm sure!

Tomorrow I get back on the scale. I missed my weigh in day last week because we were out of town and this morning I just plain forgot. I blame the baby brain!

Oiy Saikin.. that sounds seriously dangerous! I can't imagine trying to live on 400 calories a day... ever! You have to think of your little nursling way more than you need to think of yourself right now! I agree with Gale, don't do something that you can't possibly sustain long term. I know it's hard when you want to see immediate results, but you can't make yourself sick either.

Oh yeah, I zig zag normally and keep an average at around 1600. This is doing the same thing, just a little more extreme. I still average the same amount of calories over the course of a week, so I'm getting plenty to sustain life (and milk).

This is just as sustainable as eating 1600 each day to me. It's like--I can be really hungry a couple of days OR slightly hungry every day. lol

So yeah, I've counted calories for years, so this is something I do and have done long term. I use a weekly average for my calorie intake, not a day by day thing. There's some good research that backs up alternate day fasting actually. I'm not totally fasting, but most things I've read indicate that the benefits are still present.

I would never dream of having a weekly average below 1200. Right now I'm able to do 1600 with no decline in milk production. My baby is 14 months old though so we only nurse at night mostly (and weekends). I couldn't eat below 2000 calories when she nursed full time.

Oh no I'm not living on 400 a day...it's only 3 days a week. My weekly calorie amount is the same as if I was eating 1600 per day. So I'm getting plenty of calories per week!

I have heard of zig zagging.. and know many that do it, but I have never ever met anyone who went below 1200 on any given day. But hey, we each have to do what works for us, we are all individual and if it's working for you and you don't mind having hungry days then go for it.

Well, I've had a fantastic week of being on track. I've been making smart food choices and cutting back on mindless snacking, though I did indulge a bit at dinner tonight at a buffet.

I've got some good momentum going with my exercise. I've walked every day for the past 5 days and my lovely Garmin tells me I've racked up 11 km. All those steps were while wearing baby girl, and about 2 km also included wearing my 4-year-old on my back in the Mei Tai so I've got some extra calories being burned there! Hopefully the scale will tell me nice things on Monday.

I think I'm about 200lbs. I need to get started.

Way to go Gale!!

Welcome Dee!

The scale was my friend today and showed a loss of 2 lbs for the week. I'm really happy to see such a nice number since I didn't have to work super hard for it. I was smarter about my food and walked 11K, which wasn't overwhelming at all (totally the name of the game with 3 kids in the house!)

My goal for the week is to walk 18K. I did 5 already yesterday.

Way to go Kim and Gale!!!

Welcome Dee!!

I didn't lose anything this week :( I didn't gain either, so I will call it a draw and be happy with that. I did kind of blow it on Saturday... it was my first day all month I didn't exercise and then I ate a bunch of hotwings that I totally knew I shouldn't be eating. It was my first really big mess up since July, so I guess I shouldn't be too hard on myself.

Hi everyone. This is my first post. I am BF my 3 week old daughter and would like to begin eating healthier and exercising. I feel great physically, other than the extra pounds!

I gained 30 pounds and now find myself gaining weight again due to my constant hunger and addiction to sugar. I ate a whole bag of candy corn in one day last week. Not sure if it hormonal right now but I don't want my body to become used to the sugar and continue the trend into the future.
My plan is to not count calories but to be mindful of what and how much I eat. Trying to stick to whole foods instead of processed foods.
I am so happy that they have a group to support BF women!!!!

Welcome Debi! Those early weeks... my weight was the last thing on my mind...lol. Just make sure your body is ready for physical exercise.. ask your dr before you begin anything. I know at a few weeks out I felt great, but also knew that I needed to let my body heal from it's trauma before I began anything serious. I waited until 10 weeks to start controling my calories and then didn't start exercising until the beginning of this month really (my baby is now 4 months old). I figure the baby is more important than me right now, and as long as I'm being sensible the weight will eventually all come off.

Welcome Debi!

Definitely get the ok from your Dr before you start exercising. It sounds like you have a good plan for your eating, just make sure you eat when you're genuinely hungry... bfing mamas need more calories than other women.

Good luck, I hope to see you around often!

Hi Megan, I will definately still be here come December... by the way I LOVE December babies! I have 3 of them!!! I have one who will be 11 on the 20th, one who will be 5 on the 28th and one who will be 4 on the 29th... then I have the new little guy who taught me what it's like to have a warm weather newborn, what a different world!

Gale, it's ok, just get back on track as fast as possible!

As for me, I plan on blowing it tonight! The fair starts tonight.. it's HUGE and is loaded with food.. google Bloomsburg Fair... it's about the biggest fair I have ever been to! Lucky for my weight loss efforts, we are pretty broke this year, so I will have to only choose one or two foods to enjoy.. I usually get a gyro and an apple dumpling, I know the gyro is on my list (600 cals) but I'm not sure about the apple dumpling.. I can make my own cheaper, and I am awaiting the night time corn maze that opens in Oct... they have hot cider and peach dumplings that are to die for.. maybe I will wait for my dumpling until then.

Great news Gale! I've always found that to happen with weight loss--losing after "cheating". I used to eat 1200 calories & stick to pretty much the same menu everyday. Then about once a month, I'd got to taco bell & have a pint of ice cream (or bake cookies). Yes, I said "and"--haha! I almost always lost weight within 2 days of that.

That's kinda what got me started on zig zagging. That was pre-baby. I had lost 80 lbs & kept it off for years til miss priss came along.

I'm noticing something similar on this diet. I don't lose weight the morning after my low calorie day. I lose it after the high calorie days. My sister is having the same experience. Seems so illogical.

Anyway, keep it up!! WW works!

This morning I was actually excited to get on the scale for my weekly weigh in and...I'm down 2 lbs for the second week in a row!!

I set a goal for myself to walk 18K last week and I got in 22K, so I'm sure it helped tons. Yesterday I got out for a really great 6K hike in the ravine by my home, and now the weather has turned cold so I'm glad I took advantage of the nice weather while I could. I got the kids out on their bikes this afternoon so I could get a walk in but it was so windy that we only did 1K.

I started tracking my food on The Daily Plate and I'm waffling on if I'll keep doing it or not. I like that it keeps me accountable and is teaching me about staying within my calories, but I find that it's taking up a bit of time when I'm already so busy.

I'm a little nervous... we're going to visit the in laws this week and their cooking leaves much to be desired in the health department. Kim and Gale, you both are doing great.

I have been struggling with food the past few days, I think part of it is because I'm pmsing, but I think a lot of it is depression... money is really tight right now.. I mean really really tight, like I'm not sure if we will have grocery money for the next few weeks. Also hubby is down to 199, he started 10 weeks ago when I did at 237, I'm so proud of him, he is working his butt off, but at the same time it's really hard to watch him zooming along on this journey and I seem to be crawling behind him.
