:carrot:I'm down 4.6 pounds!!!!:carrot:
Oh, I mean, good morning everyone :) I just had to blurt that out, because I almost fell over when I saw the numbers. Apparently, DH has some sort of a magic touch...well, we'll not go there..., but what I am trying to say is, he fixed a few things around the house this weekend with little or no effort. Our attic fan has been out of commission for a few months...DH decided to fix it on Saturday......went up into the attic....touched the cord.......and tada.....it started working!!!!!

Then I asked him to see if he would look at my sclae.......he put the battery back in.....and BLAM.......it went on. I am so glad I didn't rush out and buy a new one......I really did want my old one, and I never though it would work again. Anyway......I stepped on it yesterday morning, and almost croaked.........and it may sound funny, cuz 4.6 pounds isn't huge in three weeks........but I have been working out pretty hard everyday.....so I was prepared to be happy with any loss. It really made it feel like all of my efforts are paying off. Ok, I'm done now.........just had to share with people who wouldn't htin k I was nuts....:)

Also, last night after dinner, I remembered that apple picing usually starts in the first part of September or last week of August........and it was about 5:00 p.m. on a Sunday, so I figured the orchard was probably closed.........but I called to check, and they were open until 6:30.......so Dh, my sis, my mom, and all 6 kids jumped in the car, spur of the moment......drove the 25 miles.....and picked about 60 pounds of honey crisp apples. OMG.....sooo delicious. But let me tell you......I was not prepared to pay $117.00. My mom split the apples with me....so I am very curious to see how long it takes us to go through 30 lbs of appoles.........and I know, it sounds like a ton......but with a family of 8 (cuz of wooohooooo, 18 yo DD is home now)........if each of us eats 1 a day....that's 4 lbs. a day......I am guessing they will be gone in a week. Crazy, isn' it? And I wonder why we spend so dang much money of fresh foods :)

Ok, have to slam my coffee here and get my shred on. It will be day 22 completed the next time I sign on :) Have a GREAT day everyone......and work hard on you. You are sooo worth it :)
XOXO

Yea for Nicole!! 4.6 is nothing to sneeze about. Great loss. Makes you want to keep it up doesn't it??

Amy - hope your day gets better.

Katie - where have you been hiding? We miss your posts.

Nothing much new with me. Had a "nothing weekend" meaning that we finally had a weekend with nothing planned. It was really nice. I have no idea when the next one is but I'm already looking forward to it. I only work 4 days this week then I'm on vacation for 10 days!! I can't wait. Really don't have anything planned except starting my fall cleaning. Maybe by getting a head start on it I'll get it done sooner. We'll see how that all works out.

Better get busy. I'll be back later. Have a great day everyone.

Morning everyone! I feel so good this morning! I don’t know if its because I was feeling bad last week, or maybe that we’re back into the soccer swing and my son did FANTASTIC this weekend (even if they lost 2 of 3 games – MY son did great!), or if it just hasn’t kicked in that its Monday yet… but for the moment, I feel really good! Took the dog for his morning walk and ran just about of it, just for the fun of it – he looked so happy running  he was bitten by something on his evening walk last night and ended up with hives, but he was feeling good this morning. Also, it was about 75 this morning rather than the 85 its been these past few months at 6:30am! All the kids got on the bus with NOOOOO arguments this morning, so it was a load of my shoulders knowing that they would get there on time, and if they didn’t at least it wasn’t MY fault!

Anyway, I’m taking advantage of this feeling good and am setting a goal to lose weight this week! With the personal training I’ve been doing, I gained a couple of pounds and have been hovering at about 140-141. I really want to get back into the 130’s with the ultimate goal of getting to my original goal of 125, so in my lunch bag I have packed a lot of fresh veggies and fruits to get me through my day. Wish me luck!

hello all. just a quick post. baby X had her 4 month check up today and all is well with her. she is now 15lbs and 24.5 inches long. :)

i had a good productive weekend, lots of cleaning and quality time with DH in too.

ok, my time is up..baby X is cranky. she got 3 shots today. :( gotta go!

oh and yay to nicole!

Nicole, That is so great! Both that DH has magic hands and the weight loss. And the 22 days straight of shredding is awesome too. I bet you are feeling fitter.

Jillian, I hope baby X is not too fussy. I always feel so bad for them when they get their shots... OK with me these days it is my cats and not any babies, but still I feel bad for them when they are all cranky.

My DD went to the specialist doctor today gastro something that I can't spell and she is going to get scoped in a few weeks to check on her stomach problems since she is still sick after almost a week of antibiotics for the bacteria that causes ulcers. I'm still worried about her. I hope she is feeling a bit better by the time school starts for her.

Way to go Nicole! I would be thrilled to lose 4.6 pounds....
I have been so stressed at work that its been really tough to focus on whats going into my body. I am making good food choices but its the wine or the coolers that go along with my food that is so bad. I took a week of holidays and now I am going away again for three days so I am working from 8am to 8pm to get my work done so I can go away.
I finished my cleanse and feel quite good about it. I haven't been on a scale for a few weeks because I can tell by how my clothes fit that I haven't lost any weight. One of my account holders told me today that she figured I am looking thinner so yippee for that! even though I don't think I have....
Anyways, I have to run...work is calling my name. I will try to catch up with everyone next week.

I was inspired by Jillian's success with the Shred, so I ordered it from Amazon. Looking forward to starting on Monday. Jillian, I think you should get a portion of the profits on all these dvd sales!

I've been *mostly* doing LAWL for years now, but figured if I came back here and posted I would be forced to get focused. It's always great seeing everyone's progress!

Congrats A.J........you are going to love the Shred :) It is hard at first.......well, it is hard everyday....but reallly, really, rewarding :)

Good morning, everyone :) I am getting ready to go work out, but had to pump in some coffee first.

I think I am going to put my sclae away, and only WI every two or three weeks. Going that stretch REALLY helped my attitude. Losing 4.6 pounds over 3 weeks felt great when I wasn't dealing with the sclae drama every couple of days.......and really, it didn't matter at all......cuz the trend is there....so anyway, that is what I am thinking today :)

Ok, time to get busy. I hope you all have a very positive successful day :) Hang in there if you are struggling........today is a new day :)

:coffee: Good Morning all.

Who's making the coffee? I feel crappy today.

I have'nt jumped on the shred band-wagon yet, but am making efforts to walk at work and with my youngest son in the evenings. I enjoy the walking with him cause that is about the only time he will talk to me about things. Teenagers. :dizzy:

The good news is - I am gettin close to my goal. Now that I have lost back down I am not sure that I need to lose another 7-8 lbs. I dont' have any clothes that will fit and I sure can't buy any right now. :?: I will just have to wait and see how it goes.

morning all. yet another day..workout is done and ready to face another day.

yesterday was pretty freakin' ridiculous....kid-wise. baby X had a fever and was cranky from her shots--all day long! and Jag didn't nap at all, so he was a rowdy, ruckus causing boy..and by the end of the day he was a bear to deal with. and then Julia was fine, until the last part of dinner and then her meltdown came as well.
and then DH came home from work and working out and he was feeling rather sick with a horrible headache and tummy ache, so i ended up doing pretty much everything all day and evening. it sucked. (i hope i'm able to handle it all when he leaves.)
anyways..today is another day and hopefully, not too stressful. *cross your fingers!*

have a good day everyone. keep up the exercising and positive attitudes! it's contagious! :)
sooooooo....all in

Laurie- Thanks for asking about me! I am here, lurking. This week I have my 2 y/o nephew while my sister is our of town. He is so cute, but keeping me extra busy for sure!

BTW, my hens have finally started earning their keep around here. So far I have gotten 2 speckled brown eggs. It is so exciting! My garden is also producing like crazy. I have chard, beans, zuchinni, yellow squash, buttercup squash, carrots, parsnips, beets, onions, red, purple, and russet potatoes, tons of tomatoes, cucumbers, apples, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, tons of herbs, and radishes on right now. We already done with peas, cherries, strawberries, and raspberries. We are still waiting for the pumpkins, gourds, watermelon, green and orange peppers, canteloupe, and a second planting of spinach. I am canning, freezing, and drying stuff every single day!

Katie..........I am soooo freakin' jealous of your garden ;) I know how much work it is, and you must be exhausted at the end of each day.......but it's a good tired, isn't it? I saw the pictures of your first egg on FB.......I love it :)

I did my workout....and I worked extra hard today. I was dripping with sweat, and I LOVED it. Crazy talk, isn't it? lol.

DixieAmy.......wow, I didn't realize how close to goal you are. That is so awesome. I also think it is great that your son walks with you........it IS a great way to spend time with him. Shred when you are ready........it took me a long time to get with the program..... When you are ready, we know you will kick some serious a$$!

Ok, time to go outside and do some gardening. TTL.

Amy- Congrats on being so close to your goal!! Hope your car is ok and the rest of your week gets better.

Katie- I think it is amazing how self suffiant you are!! Congrats on the eggs..

Jillian-Great job on keeping up the exercise. I hope baby X feels better today and Little jag takes a long nap!!!

Laurie- sounds like you have a soccer star on your hands.

Hope everyone else is doing well!!! I have not been shredding but about 2 times a week but any exercise has to help. My 11 year old won his first football game last night 18 to 12 in double overtime!! He threw the game winning pass. And i have to say Peyton Manning could not have done a better job!!! I am getting back on track this week I have to step up the weight loss So I can buy smaller pants!!!

Holy Cow Katie that sounds like you need a Vegetable stand. All that sounds awesome.

For those of you like me who are searching for new bar alternatives to try, do yourself a favor and skip the Atkins ones. Yuck! Not much flavor and what flavor they have is not that great.

O.K. for todays drama..... My college son calls this a.m. and says he can't go to class today (day 6, week 2) because his truck is running hot. I managed to find a way to get him to class on time, but it sounds like his truck is going to need some work (new motor). Sigh.

Hope the kiddies do better for you today Jillian.

Thanks Nicole for letting me know! I would try to post here in future.I found some information on so called Super foods that LAWL plan promotes.

The articles below reveal the mystery of superfoods :

food-facts.suite101.com/article.cfm/super_food_facts
webterrace.com/fat/diur.htm

Btw...I am glad that understanding the difference between veggie protein and animal protein would help people lose more weight. I have put that theory to test and I am steadily losing. My motto ....no veggie burgers/beans/lentils/ legumes and nuts. Yes...the veggie proteins are tastier and easy to eat and digest compared to animal protein. But if you look at the nutrition info, veggie protein contains almost as much carbs as protein. So you cn't really count them as "protein" even though your plan-book says so.
However...soy protein( burger/yogurt etc) can be counted as protein besides animal protein.I practically lived on veggie protein for a whole week and lost only 1lb then gained 0.2 lb. As soon as I switched to animal protein, i started losing about 0.5 lbs a day.Bottomline is...if someone struggling to lose...you might want to check on the kind of protein in your diet.

Later....

Hey everyone -

I am still here - lurking almost every day. Work situation is still tough. No news in this case is NOT good news so I have basically resolved myself that as of Sept 15 I will be out of work and have to start looking for something else. Kinda had a meltdown yesterday but I am back today. I expect there may still be a few bad days here and there but I'm trying not to let everything get the worst of me so to speak.

This weekend I'm going to go to the local vegetable stands again and stock up on veggies for a couple of weeks. Gotta have my veggies or I'd be lost. Fruit I can take or leave - but dang it give me broccoli!! LOL

One positive thing about possibly being off work for a bit is that its a good time of year and I can devote more time to me for a bit. Fall here is usually really nice for getting outside and doing stuff.

Nicole - I am so proud of you for your shredding and the pounds lost!! Between you and Jillian I have no choice but to get motivated. Now I just need to find the Shred video here or I'll have to suck it up and order it online out of the US and pay the exchange and delivery on it.

Hope everyone has had a good day. I'll check in later...

Good to see you here Alannah :) I do see you on FB......but this is still my fave :)

Good morning to everyone else also :)

So, what is the one thing you are going to eat today that is delicious and nutrient packed? My fave lately is frosted shredded mini wheats. I know.......not OP, but a fantastic food, so I have added it :)

So, it is time to go work out, and I know in a matter of minutes I will be so glad I did it :)

Have a great day everyone!

hello all.
i'm done with my workout, showered and having a cup of coffee. i've mostly given up coffee and opted for green tea only.

so not much to report otherwise. Julia and Jag are going out of town with former DH for the long holiday weekend, so it'll just me DH and baby X for the weekend. nothing planned, but relaxing, i think.

i'm still shredding away, on day 41..but still taking the weekends off. i'm not sure how much i like that, because i feel like a lazy lump not getting that exercise/good sweat as i usually do on the weekdays...maybe i'll only take a break on sundays.

anyways, i need to set some mini goals. it seems as if the scale is stalled, but i'm tracking what i'm eating, working out, getting all my water in, ect...so not sure what the deal is. my sister did comment that it looks like i've been losing weight, but i think it's just me toning up and losing inches from working out. at any rate, it's making my clothes fit better and that's all i want at this point. the scale is just a number anyways, right?

so, i'm off..to finish my coffee before Jag gets here and the "real" day begins!

Jillian- you are doing so well on your exercise plan. You should not feel guilty about taking the weekend off, you body does need to rest. If you do not want to Shred maybe on the weekends you,Baby X and DH could take some walks that would be great exercise and a break from the shred. The scale is just a number I would not focus to much on that keep tracking your foods, drink your water and all your exercises will soon start to see the number on the scale decrease.

Nicole- Fiber one has a shredded min-wheat that could qualify to be on plan, it is very good, high in fiber and not to bad on sugar. Anyway the regular shredded min-wheat is high in fiber too so it has to not be that bad. Well not as bad as Count Chocula or those cereals???Good Job on the exercises, Keep it up!!!

MJ- I can not eat nuts at all, if I eat any kind of nut or nut butter i gain. I guess it is one of those everyones body handles things differently.

Hope everyone is doing well. I have been trying to eat on plan but not sticking to it strickly. I have gotten in some exercise lately. I am going to start back walking and jogging as soon as the evenings cool off some. I seemed to have done well earlier in the summer toning up by jogging.

It seems by DH and his fellow coaches made some kind of promise to get a mohawk if the team won this past Monday. Well as I reported yesterday that they won so looks like they will be sporting mohawks come thursday. My DH often shaves his head so it will not be that big of an adjustment for him. The coach that is a Doctor might get some odd looks but a promise is a promise.

I am concerned about all the illness that seems to be going around in the school systems. Many cases of the regular Flu have been reported and it just seems to early for it. My 9 year old had the Flu like symptoms last week, but it fought it off like a champ. I am just afraid of what could happen if one of my kids got sick and it would be a trickle effect and we could be out of comission for weeks. Have any of your children or childrens schools seen the effects of the Flu/h1N1 yet/?

Good Morning all. I'm not feeling too well so I am just lurking.

AmyM: Where I live, there was a reported case of an 11 year old boy that died with it Monday (not confirmed). He supposedly came down with the symptions on Sunday and went to the Hospital on Monday and died later. We have heard reports of the H1N1 at other school locations also, so it makes you wonder. That is just terrible to lose a child.

I am on plan, maybe not pop but op nonetheless. I REALLY want to get back into my jeans before October 6th when dh and I head to Cali. Not so sure that I can lose 13 lbs (2.6 lbs a week) before then but at least try! Of course, we are camping with friends this weekend so it will be very difficult to stay op esp. when we always hit the Chinese buffet on the way out. I don't want to skip it as it is a yearly thing only!

It will be easier next week when dd starts preschool again and I can actually get into the gym! All I have been doing lately is wii fit and the occasional bike ride.

Hmmm, I don't eat meats except chicken. So are eggs still considered an animal protein? Very hard to get animal proteins in when we are using the Till debt do us part debt reduction plan..

hi Tan
I wish you all the best! You kno what...when u decide you gonna make it happen, half the battle is won already!
Eggs or egg substitute( you get them at any grocery store...or walmart) can be a good source of protein...chicken or fish would be good as well. 1% milk/soy milk also good and cheap source of protein.Just stay away from beans and nuts.

I'm going to chime in on the whole animal protein thing as i'm a vegetarian and was a few lbs away from my goal (before getting pregnant with my last baby) and did just fine with all vegetarian proteins. I think that everyone's body responds differently to different foods. what may work for one person may not work for another.

Hi friends :)

So, I just did a little math, and it looks like I may make my Christmas goal, as long as I can lose an average of 1.67 pounds per week, from now until then. Seems kind of steep, and/or unreal that I could possibly be down in the 190's.........but I guess I have to just keep reminding myself that it really isn't that hard....you just have to take it one day at a time........one meal at a time. So how are your short term goals looking?

Oh, crap..........14 yo DD missed the bus......I have to run her to school.......and this totally screws up my workout time!!!!! I'm trying not to be pissed........I really am.....but my other DD has a doc appt. this a.m. as well.......

Ah my short term goal isn't going as well as I hoped! I am expecting a gain this week...not surprising as I was away for business and all we do is sit in meetings and get fed tons of food! But this is it...After Labour Day none of this "it's summer" excuses..I gotta get my act together! I'm heading to Toronto for Christmas break to stay with my soon to be SIL/Bridesmaid and we are gonna go dress shopping there! Not sure if I will buy there, but gotta start looking then I guess!

Alannah: Sorry to hear about the work situation. I have to ask though....why are you waiting to see if you will have to look for another job. If that was me, I would already be out looking and possibly already gone! Why stay on a sinking ship?

On another note...anyone know much about the Blood Type Diet? A man I know has been following it and lost 14 lbs in 2 weeks! And he wasn't THAT big to start with...I might get the book as it might even help with some of the common ailments that come with each blood type...not just for me, but for FH too. Mine's so complicated though as I'm AB+ so we aren't really one type on our own but can show characteristics of both A and B and different people show different tendancies...confusing!

Hi Jillian

Exactly. It does depend upon body type. That is the reason we have so many food choices in the LAWL plan book.I mentioned the animal protein thing for the benefit of people who are trying hard but not seeing results fast enough and somehow feeling disheartened and thinking of switching plans.I reposted my message here because it is the most visited thread.Veggie protein didn't work for me...I am glad it did for you.:)

I have found the blood type diet very helpful in choosing the correct food to maximize weight loss following the LAWL plan.I recently started the combination of two and seeing results already! There are 4 basic types
O- hunter group : animal protein
A- cultivator group : veggies and veggie protein
B- Nomadic group : Dairy products+ red meat+ fish
AB- Mixed group : Rice, fish, veggies, tofu, beans

As for example, I am type O and benefit from eating lean protein as chicken, fish, soy...etc and avoiding beans, legumes...etc

You can get more info...and detailed food chart from the following website:

Thanks for the info! Figures I dislike most seafood and that's what is good for me lol. The thing I don't get though is it says my type has low stomach acid which is why we can't digest meat efficiently....but supposedly I have acid reflux? Isn't that an overproduction of acid? I is so confused!

Hi Kristin

U r welcome!Stomach acid that helps in digestion is hydrochloric acid. Acid reflux is caused by mixture of bile, food and acid that escapes stomach cavity and pushes up esophagus by opening the valve between stomach and esophagus. It has more got to do with the fact that excess pressure of baby ( in case of pregnant women) or due to weight gain around stomach area forces open that valve or long gaps between meals can cause excess acid/bile to escape because there is no food to digest.Apparently, as we lose the excess weight, acid reflux should be less. As I understand it, whether you have low or high acid content...if that protective valve mechanism gives in due to some reason, or if the acid or bile has nothing to digest for a long period ,you could get acid reflux.

Hope this helps.

hey everyone -

Kristin - I have been looking but there isn't a lot up here right now. But I have been looking for awhile now.

I did finally get word on friday (officially) that I am laid off as of Sept 15 but I am getting a good severance package that will allow me some time to find something else. And with personal days I need to use up or lose I only have to go to work on wed and thurs of next week. With everything going on there lately I am actually kinda glad to be getting out now. I figure within the year it will be completely gone so I'd rather leave now. Not used to this whole starting all over thing but hey - I've done it in the past and I can do it again.

I went to the local veggie stands again today and loaded up on some fresh home grown ones. I've got a cauliflower that honestly is at least triple the size of the ones in the store. I am going to steam that up tonight and make faux mashed potatoes out of it. It'll definitely make lots.

So I need to get myself back on track again. I need to just pick a plan and go with it. I'm going to have lots of time now for a little while to get me straightened out and figure out what works best for a menu plan and stick with it. At least I have a really nice time of the year to have a break!! And I live near the bottom of a very long steep hill so I figure just going to get my mail 3 roads over at the very top of the hill on foot will do me some good.

Hope everyone is having a good long weekend!
