I track my calories on sparkpeople every day - I've cut out soda and am making sure that if I want to have a dessert that it's planned into my daily calories. Also switched to whole grains for everything that I can think of. I have been going on daily walks with my dogs since I started this thing last week...waiting for Turbo Jam to arrive in the mail and then I will be doing that daily too! My schedule is going to get busier after next week to since I'm starting graduate school, but I'm determined to make it work

welcome!

myplate has a calculator that uses BMI, calories for basic metabolism, and goal calories to lose weight. it says 1900 calories per day will lose a pound per week but in my experience 1400-1600 has worked best for me when I'm not exercising as much

8/24- 1364 calories, ~250 cal burned on a short run. no elevator today that's about 30 flights over the course of the average work day

8/25- 1488 calories, no workout, but no elevator

I log on sparkpeople and track burned with my go wear fit. Last week I started drinking 80-100 oz of water per day. Only issue has been I wake up more often at night...you can guess why. Last week sucked because I was very good but didn't lose. Hopefully its just a little stall because I started running again after a few weeks off.

8/24 - Consumed 1882 ....burned 1955 (That's the closest I've ever been but mon was a rest day after a VERY active weekend and I was so sore I could barely move.)

Yesterday I was on the high side of my calories (but still in the range I'm aiming for) - didn't know a club sandwich on whole grain bread from a restaurant would be that bad...I know now! Also went on a walk and to the dog park.

Today I finished at 1,498 - 2 to spare! Doing some light weight lifting this evening.

Tomorrow will be challenging because I am going over to someone's house for a potluck - my goal is one small spoon of everything that looks good...no seconds!

Tonight I'm going to a potluck to meet my new classmates - my goal is one small spoon of everything that looks good and no 2nds! I walked to the dog park today and then ran 2 x 2minute laps around the perimeter, followed by some more walking while I was there. I also got Turbo Jam in the mail today so now I can finally get on track with doing something every day even if the weather is bad! Starting that either tonight or tomorrow.

Potluck was tonight...I had vegetable lasagna (that was delicious), salad, green beans, and 1 piece of bread (there was plenty left...it was tempting!) Then the dessert started being passed around - I had fruit and 1 small piece of cake...so I did just what I said I would and had a small serving of everything, but the only thing I went back for seconds on was the salad The cake was sooooo good, but I'm fairly sure I was still in my range today...getting ready to do Turbo Jam so I'm tired before bed!

Ok good day yesterday. Not super active because I had alot of computer work to do. But I did do my run (week 3 of the C25k). And when I woke up this morning I had shed the rest of my water weight from being so sore earlier this week. I was surprised I was still sore yesterday. Maybe I shouldn't play volleyball so long and hard on sundays?

Consumed 1660, Burned 2276, deficit of 616

Weight this morning was 151.2

(I weigh every day so I can graph it and keep myself on track.)

Blargh - I'm at 1250 calories and I haven't even had dinner yet (stupid bagel for breakfast!)...but I did just get done doing Turbo Jam, so I might just eat healthy and not worry about the calorie count. I feel better and slightly more trim, but still can't do a weigh in.

crcossel, what do you think about the go wear fit? In your experience do you find that a calorie deficit of ~3500 corresponds to ~1 lb lost? I'm very skeptical of the calorie counter on my high end heart rate monitor
