Wow, cutting out all my snacks is working amazingly well. I had breakfast, didn't get hungry until 11:30, had lunch at 12:15, didn't get hungry until 2:30, had a snack at 3:00, and now I'm a little hungry but it's almost time to go home. The "embrace the hunger" idea is really working. It's like, no, just because I'm hungry doesn't mean I need to eat NOW. I can eat in half an hour, or an hour, and I'll be okay, really.
Can you believe it? Just by that one simple concept, I went from two morning snacks and three afternoon snacks to just one afternoon snack. I probably cut out about 250 calories worth of unnecessary snacks.

Yesterday was POP and the first 5 of 8 total pounds of water weight flew off. Today's another day for focusing on protein, water, and eliminating the ridiculous water weight I have going on!
B - French toast w/ eggbeaters -
S - Smoothie w/ greek yogurt, frozen mango, LF milk
L - Leftovers - Pork tenderloin with blackberry balsamic sauce, roasted asparagus, side salad

Amanda - great on the five pounds!
Jessica - I haven't felt the same crazy compulsion to eat that I was feeling yesterday. I ended yesterday at about 200 cals over my TDP maintenance level, about 100 over where I normally target. I was going to come in right at my normal target and then I ate a granola bar before bed for no good reason...
Today -
E: 2.8 miles between treadmill and elliptical
B: smoothie, coffee
S: strawberries & grapes, string cheese
L: grilled chicken salad
S: apple w/ laughing cow, lowfat vanilla yogurt w/ blueberries, raspberries & pineapple
D: most likely PB&J w/ some kind of fruit or half of leftover sweet potato
S: kashi go lean w/ skim & berries

B: corn flakes w/ soy milk, banana
L: turkey and swiss sandwich on wheat, onion corn chips
S: small handful of cashews
D: veggie couscous stuffed in a pepper, blueberries for dessert!
S: apple with natural PB
I think I may make another grocery run... I'm craving some yogurt pretty badly.

D - Giant salad w/ carne asada steak, grilled bell pepper and squash, grilled onion, croutons, carrots, tomatoes, and cucumber, topped with a little bit of light zesty dressing

Good morning! Yesterday came in much better - no serious snacking, though I did have one peanut butter nekot cracker before bed. At the time I justified it by thinking the sugar would help with my raging headache, which of course it didn't... :(
Iris - sorry I sent the snackies your way!
Jessica - yay for less snacking!
Today:
E: maybe some strength training when I get home, maybe nothing if the headache doesn't get better
B: smoothie, coffee, 1/2 banana leftover from smoothie because I was too lazy to walk across the kitchen for a baggie...
S: lowfat vanilla yogurt w/ berries & pineapple that I didn't eat yesterday
L: grilled chicken salad
S: apple w/ light swiss laughing cow, maybe some kashi w/ skim
D: ground chicken breast tacos w/ whole grain taco shells
S: cracker jacks

Yesterday's eating was, um, interesting as I was at the courthouse all day. Had no snacks, but I did end up eating a few mini-chocolate bars out sheer boredom. (They had them out in the jury room)
I overslept this morning and so didn't get to the gym. Plan is to go after work and do both an UBWO and some HIIT on the elliptical.
B - protein shake: 1/2 banana, tbsp natural bp, whey protein, almond milk; 1/2 ww bagel; :coffee:
S - cottage cheese, 1/2 nectarine
L - ? either salad or turkey sandwich (both from the store)
S - ?
D - chili made with 7% ground beef, salad

Well, I got sucked into the grocery store's Hawaiian chicken rice bowl at lunch. The chicken was fine - unadorned, but the rice was awful. I ate 2 bites, plus most of the chicken and threw it out. I did get a nice afternoon snack of vanilla lf yogurt and some mixed berries (enough for tomorrow too), and I also bought some roasted turkey sliced for tomorrow. Oh and I had a latte at an afternoon meeting as well (ff, no sweetner). Tonight's chili was delish! :)

I've got to try almond milk... I saw it in two different smoothie posts today... Do you guys do sweetened or unsweetened? I remember Meg talking about the difference between the two, but can't remember - can you tell a difference?
mandalinn82
08-28-2009, 04:00 PM
Unsweetened Vanilla, personally. I just like that its only 40 calories a cup, less than half as skim milk, and adds a sort of vague nutty creaminess and a vague vanilla flavor. It's good (I like the texture way better than skim, regardless of the calorie benefits).
I changed into my gym clothes in a fit of optimism. The plan is to try to do 30 min of cardio, then more after another meeting if I'm still OK. I'm also due for a LB/ab workout, but we'll see on that.
WaterRat
08-28-2009, 06:30 PM
Unsweetened original here, but I only use it in shakes, haven't tried it on cereal etc. My DH uses a fair amount of milk so we always have it. Might try the almond though, I bet it'd be good on oatmeal.
I'm just back from the grocery store. My Precision Nutrition program had us go to the store and get a few things that we may not have used before (then we have to photograph them, so they know we did it. ) Most of the stuff wasn't new to me, but I did get some almond butter and I'm looking forward to trying that. My store here in the boonies didn't have some of the stuff like hemp seeds (what would I do with those?), amaranth (though I've gotten it before in Anchorage) and canned lentils (canned lentils? why? I've never seen it - I'll photograph the dry ones I already have).
