Good morning from New England For those who don't recognize it wicked is the most popular multipurpose adjective in New England. It creeps into your vocabulary months after moving here
It's an office day for me today. I know I have lots of pre-vacation tasks but I do have trouble focusing at the computer all day. You may see me around here during the day.
Good morning! Wicked Wednesday? Hmmm - I know all the meanings and now have to pick one. I'll try for the most contemporary one.
My doggies are home now and happy to be here. The very noisy stuff did not happen when they were away as we are still waiting for the building inspector. I hope he shows today so we can get rolling. Right now I want my AC back as it's been wicked hot for sleeping even with the fan.
Today I'll focus on laundry and other domestic stuff that I was supposed to tackle yesterday. I ended up going back to town to do the errands I didn't get to on movie day. And then the electrician didn't show so I would have had power anyhow.
Good morning, Cyndi, and everyone else! It is shaping up to be a Wicked Wednesday around here. We turn off the downstairs air conditioner overnight, and it's very hot and stuffy this morning. T-storms are expected throughout the day, so it's not looking good for swimming.
I need more coffee, as my brain doesn't want to function yet, and I want to catch up on last nights' posts. I'll be back later.
Chelby and Schmoodle - I agree, you two are too cute
Kierie - Take it easy on you! It's hot and humid and I bet the air is not so great where you are.
Sunshine - Way to go with the shred! I tried it once and was horrified to discover I was not in the shape I thought I was. That's a killer workout but I bet it's effective.
Debbie - Love the pics. Thanks for sharing
Ruth - Wicked hot and humid here too! Well, we said we wanted summer weather, guess this is it. At least my tomatoes are finally turning.
Cottage - hot coffee in the morning and iced in the afternoon, or maybe that's just me
The thought of warm food didn't do it for me this morning so it's plain yogurt with unsweetened muesli and a little agave. I'll probably need 100 calorie almond pack later but it's all I can manage right now.
Cyndi, If I see you around here today, I promise not to tell. The word here is 'Dude'. A very cute young lady who visits our therapist calls me dude. It cracks me up!
Ruth, I have a spare room, make a mean cup of coffee, have a powerful AC, and could use help with MY laundry. Wanna come?
Cottage, We've been turning up the AC at the office at night. Our power bill last month was $450! My hubby would stroke out if our home bill was that high!
Me: I'm really having issues with Auston going to school. A girlfriend said my boohoos would turn to woohoos real soon. I hope so. He has requested spaghetti for supper tonight. His last meal as a preschooler. I'm such a putz!
Chelby, those first few days of seeing your wee one off to school is always so hard. I still get all teary and emotional. It's going to be really hard for me this year with Maggie in school all day.
Cyndi, it's funny that no matter how hot it is in the morning, I still have to have my hot coffee. By mid-afternoon, though, I'm ready to enjoy an iced coffee, along with gallons of iced tea. Somehow, that "wicked" word has popped into my vocabulary, and I tend to use it often. I don't know where or how I picked it up, lol!
Ruth, I know the doggies are much happier to be home with you, and it's good for you, too. I hope Disney is settling down in the midst of all the excitement.
Oh my you chicks are funny. I'll pass you my kleenex as I won't be needing them except for tears of joy. We are on less than two weeks countdown to school and I am already doing the happy dance. DD is at middle school orientation right now. She's my last baby, so that means my elementary school days are over. I've had a kid in elementary school for almost all of the last 17 years! I LOVE getting my house back. I'm planning to take the first day of school off and just enjoy the quiet. I think I'll invite the neighborhood mom-ladies over for coffee and mimosas as soon as the kids are all gone, maybe arrange a lunch date.
cottage, you probably picked it up on your visit to Maine. I lived in Maine for a couple of years and it crept into my vocabulary, but that was a long time ago, and it's gone now,
I feel your pain Cyndi, I'm on a telecon right now (shhhh...), should last all morning, then I have a meeting at town hall over my lunch hour. Guess I should pay attention for a bit. Have a good one everyone!
Did a laundry just now and realized that I can't throw it in the dryer as the vent would blow all the hot air on the electrician and his helper. The humidity is 88% right now so I don't think hanging it outside is an option. I guess it'll stay in the washer until the lads are done.
Bonus today though - they don't need to turn off the electricity so I can use my fan and my sewing machine. Oh joy! Or should I say "Wicked"?
Cottage - you reminded me that I have boxes of the instant iced tea bags. Think I'll make my first one peach. yum
Chelby - If you see me does that mean you have the day off??
Schmoodle - I remember those back to school days. By August I was counting down. Actually when DD went to college I was counting down because we had about gotten on each other's last nerve. It all works out eventually.
It's quiet this morning. Is everyone sleeping in? or working?!
Just a quick check in. I am heading to the pool this morning and slept in a bit, after not sleeping much until about 3.
Cyndi, I know where you'll be today. Counting down.
Cottage, I thought of you early. I left my windows open most of the night but shut them early. It is getting a wee bit chilly.
Schmoodle, Chelby ,I loved your picture. What a fun thing for us all to see. I also realize there is a fine line between missing the kids and jumping for joy. Our neighborhood is so quiet.
Ruth, glad the project is coming along. I'm glad the dogs get to be home.
Me, have a few projects today. My back stair tread broke last night so I had to do a simple repair because I didn't have the right screws. It's CSA day and I want to pick tomatoes for my partner and fit a lawn mowing in. The good part of not sleeping is that my house chores are all done. I can start over today.
Good morning, everyone!! I really should be working on paperwork from inspections, but I had to stop by because I haven't been here since Saturday morning!!!
First and foremost, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for the wonderful birthday wishes. It was a wonderful and happy time for DH and I to celebrate and I really enjoyed it.
Cyndi: I've been feeling that way as well. I don't get as much time off as you, but I am looking forward to this camping trip this weekend and need to get everything done before Friday so that we can leave on time. It's just that our appraisal software is so unappealing after a while. We'll sneak in some internet time on the sly together!
Ruth: What a pain that you still don't have electricity. Wish I could send you some of our cool weather. I hope everyone gets there that needs to get there today and that you have that AC humming tonight!!
Cottage: Sending some more coffee your way! (I'm sure you've perked up by now anyways!) Hope you have a wonderful day and that it isn't too hot.
Chelby: I can't relate right now, but I hope to in the future! Either way, I'm sending warm thoughts your way!!
Schmoodle: Your back-to-school "mom party" sounds like a great idea. I hope your call isn't too long!
Me: I've been busy at work the past few days and it looks like that is going to keep up for a while. It's good, though, because it makes the day go by faster.
Tonight DH and I are going to start getting stuff together for our camping trip this weekend. We both agreed to "eat what we want" while we're gone, so I'm sure all kinds of food porn will be on our grocery list. I'm still shooting for a loss this week, so I'm not going to go too crazy, but I am not going to say no to a s'more!!
Other than that, not much here. We have a lot going on for the next two months and I'm excited about it all!!!
Brian's dental cleaning went well. No cavities and his dentist says we still have more time before a decision on braces needs to be made so I'm putting that off. And his dentist just started taking insurance. Yeah! That means I don't have to file myself now!
We've had kids over all week so far. I've told them they can come over after 1 today when I've finished my last work meeting. I can't be on a telecon with Rock Band in the background. The little 9 year old girl isn't comfortable with her swimming so I spent a long time working with her last night. Her parents are splitting up and she and her brother had more fun at our house than being watched by their grandma. Four 12 year old boys make a LOT of noise!
We've got less than 2 weeks before middle school starts as well. I REALLY need to force Brian to try on his clothes and see what still fits well. I think I may have to bite the bullet and buy new jeans for him. Thank goodness he is fine with Target and Walmart.
Cyndi, In my office, I told them from the beginning that I'm bad at looking busy when I'm not. They said 'entertain yourself!' To me, that means internet!
Barb, Most of Auston's clothes from last year are too small. Hopefully as he ages, he'll be able to wear clothes longer.
Debbie! Good Morning!
Kim, Your campout sounds great! Will you sleep in a tent?
