Biggest Loser Challenges - Red Rockets Week 12 & 13View Full Version : Red Rockets Week 12 & 13 CruiseCAT 08-11-2009, 07:04 PM Thought I would start this before I left. This is for this week and next seeing how there are only a few of us chatting. I'll be back Thursday the 20th. Bette k 08-11-2009, 11:46 PM Hi Red team, Sorry I was unable to post this week, but it was nuts this weekend. Hopefully the last few days I haven't been doing so well, blame it on birthday cake and lots of emotions. Tomorrow I start again. Shannon, Congrats on being our new leader for the next challenge, I look forward to it. Cruise Cat, Thank you for stepping in and being our leader. Everyone Else, Have a great week Bette K MonteCristo 08-12-2009, 09:33 AM Hi Ladies! Sorry I haven't been around, but things have been crazy. I'm looking forward to the fall challenge. I've been so busy lately that I haven't taken time to eat properly (I should know better by now), but I'm about ready to have a fresh new start. The rest of this week is going to be a bit hectic, but I'm going to jump right back in on Monday. I hope everyone is having a great week! Robot 08-12-2009, 10:47 AM HI everyone! I'm also looking forward to the next challenge. Congrats Shannon on being the team leader for the next challenge. sweetandspicy 08-12-2009, 11:11 AM CAT_ thank you for leading the challenge, you did a wonderful job and I hope you have a great vacation Shannon- good luck being the challenge leader. Yesterday my 11 year old had practice/ not a game. My husband was late and he is the coach that is always there first to get them warmed up. So he called me and told me to get them to do the strechs and to keep them busy. I of course had no idea what to do so I decied to do the Shred from memory. They did not have weights so I skipped the strength training but we did everything else, as best to my memory. We did not do as many reps but we did work out for 20 minutes including running laps. I assume it was funny to watch because some of the boys were so off. I did do everything with them instead of walking around talking like they do on the DVD. So when my husband go there he was mad because he said I wore them out. I moved down the field to watch my 9 year old play in shi scrimmage and a lady walked up to me and said did you just have my son do the 30 day Shred. I just laughed and said yes they told me to work them out and thats the only workout I know... She laughed too mtiger 08-12-2009, 10:08 PM That is so funny that you had them do Shred. I bet they were tired. It was good for them. I have seen a little loss today. Still not back to my lowest but I am still hoping to get there soon. It has gotten very difficult to lose lately. I only want about 35 more pounds. This body cannot quit on me now. Luckybustert 08-13-2009, 03:58 AM Amy, that is so funny that you had the team do the Shred! I just got my Shred DVD in the mail today....thinking about holding off until Sunday to start it, I've got a party to go to Saturday night and I'm afraid I'll be too sore to move! CanadaMel 08-13-2009, 10:33 AM I've got my name on the waiting list at the library for the 30 day shred. I'll see if I can actually do it before comitting the $ having a good week food wise looking forward to camping next week though that's where my troubles begin & I typically stray WAY off plan :o cat thanks for reposting the link. Great photos. Can't wait to hear about your next trip. Have a great day everyone! sweetandspicy 08-13-2009, 10:59 AM Well the boys do not practice on Wednesday so I will be anxious to hear if they were sore or not tonight. Yesterday I got a phone call from one of the boys on the team his name is Gavin and well bless his heart he needs to loose some weight ASAP. He said that my son (who would never tell me this) said you should ask my mom to help you she has lost weight really fast and she looks great now. So here an 11 year old asked for help on how to loose weight. I told my husband and he said we have to help him. So I talked with him for awhile about what he eats and when he eats. I think it is just to much junk not enough fruits and veggies. He said since football he has lost 2 pounds so the exercise has to help. I know he does not want to "diet" and I am sure he would be embarrassed to try at school. SO I talked to his Dad and he packs his lunch everyday so I suggested a lower calorie bread, to take the 100 cal snacks, but take them out of the package and put in a ziplock bag so no one knows it lowfat and at dinner instead of dessert try fruit, lay off sodas and cereals? If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciated it.. JasonsLea 08-13-2009, 05:10 PM  girls! How has your week gone so far? Do me a favor and send good vibes my way, okay? I should find out this week if I got the fulltime position. If I did, that means rent is paid, I get my bed, and I'm back online! :crossed: :grouphug: CanadaMel 08-14-2009, 12:55 AM Shari- fingers crossed :crossed: & many good vibes :goodvibes :goodvibes coming your way! CanadaMel 08-15-2009, 01:38 AM Tomorrow we head out for a week of camping- hopefully I'll stay OP better than our last camping trip. Have a great week everyone-I look forward to see/hear how everyone is doing in the final weeks of our challenge! RangerChic 08-15-2009, 08:23 AM Woo! I broke my plateau! I'm now down to 130.5!!! I couldn't be happier right now. I kept thinking, "I hate being suck at the same darn weight for weeks..." thankfully, I think the zig zagging of my calories is helping. Now, just need to hit 130 exactly next weekend before my vacation on the 25th. :) JasonsLea 08-15-2009, 05:36 PM  girls! Aww thanks Mel! But it was all in vain, it seems. It feels like they are trying to put me in a corner with the job and I don't like being caged. So it's job hunting this week! If the VA won't give me a chance to grow, I'll find a company that will! WTG Ranger! :carrot: JasonsLea 08-16-2009, 05:30 PM  girls! Don't you just love it when you have a good week plan-wise then TOM comes along the night before your WI? >.< Here's to a hopefully better week. RangerChic 08-17-2009, 01:19 AM :hugs: JasonsLea. It will go away. Also, do you take B6 pills? Some vitamins like that help with the excess water weight. And, drink as much H2O as you can. mtiger 08-17-2009, 11:21 AM Got home from my mine vacation and got on the scale. Middle of the day I was 180.6. I was very excited. This morning though, 181.8. What the heck???? I don't think I'm ever going to get to the 170's. :( sweetandspicy 08-17-2009, 04:44 PM Mindy you will get there you have done so well!!! It is so frustrating to stall/plateau but one of these days really soon you will make it!!! MonteCristo 08-18-2009, 01:29 PM I just got started back up again. Right now I'm on day 2. It hasn't been to bad yet, but I know how things get on day 4-5, but I know that I can make it through. I still haven't weighted because I'm a little apprehensive, so I decided to not weigh on my start day, but at the end of the first week. So I'll be weighing on Friday. Everyone in the group seems to be doing so well! Good job!! :carrot: MonteCristo 08-20-2009, 11:02 AM :kickcan: What has happened to everyone? CruiseCAT 08-20-2009, 11:23 AM I'm back and stats have been posted. I have to say that I am very impressed with those that are still in this. After a week long cruise I am up only 2.8 lbs.. I have major catching up to do here around the house but I'll be back later today or tomorrow. RangerChic 08-20-2009, 11:39 AM Hey CAT, how did it go? I am amazed I made runner-up... congrats to all the losers! :) sweetandspicy 08-20-2009, 11:49 AM Congrats to all the loosers!! I am so proud of everyone who has stayed with the challege. Summer is such a busy time. I did sign up for the new challenge as well and I asked to be red!!! Luckybustert 08-20-2009, 12:34 PM CruiseCAT, only gaining 2.8 on a cruise is really good! Most people I know come back from their cruises with an extra 5 to 10 pounds. My weight is just fluctuating all over the place. On Monday I was up 1.6 pounds but today I'm down 3 pounds. Sure would be nice if these downward fluctuations would coincide with weigh-in day!!! On the other hand....it's a loss, and I'll take it whenever and wherever I can get it. :) mtiger 08-20-2009, 09:47 PM Girls, I am happy to hear about other people's success, because Lord knows I'm not having any. I eat well, workout almost everyday and still, I'm getting nowhere. I am beyond frustrated, mad, upset, etc. One more week after this for this challenge. I wanted to be in the 170's, REALLY bad. Doesn't look like I am going to make it. WHAT GIVES??? Cruise- Glad you're back and you had fun. Monte- Good to see you back at it again. GOOD luck!!! Shannon- You have done so well. Congrats!! Mommy- We have stuck with it. Good for us!! Lucky- I hear ya. At this point it is a crap shoot. Bette k 08-21-2009, 12:36 AM Hi Red Team I'm glad everyone is home safe and sound and had good trips. Congrats to all the Biggest Losers. I got good news, DS will be home September 28th!! I'm working on losing 10 more lbs before he gets here, that will put me under 200, he's never seen me that small. I was having trouble with not losing and even gaining a tiny bit back unlit last week whan I started writing everything I eat down again. I was shocked at what I was eating, around 2000 calories a day, and so I started being mor op and when I weighed this morning lost 3 lbs in the last week. I go to the dr tomorrow and get and official results for how much I lost and what it's done for me. I know before I went in for my blood draw my fbs was 96, which is almost 30 points lower than it had been. I hope everyone has a great OP week. Bette K sweetandspicy 08-21-2009, 12:54 PM Bette- Good job on the loss, writing everything down always helps me. I also log everything on dailyplate.com so that I get somewhat accurate calorie count. It helps when you realize how much you are eating sometimes. It still doesn's stop me from splurging but it does help me make adjustments to accomodate my slips. RangerChic 08-22-2009, 10:31 AM Woo! I just hit the 120s! I am officially at 129.8 as of this morning! :) CruiseCAT 08-22-2009, 09:30 PM Woo! I just hit the 120s! I am officially at 129.8 as of this morning! :) WooHoo.... WTG RangerChic. CruiseCAT 08-22-2009, 09:33 PM Pictures from my trip to Alaska are posted on WebShots. Because I had major camera issues there are not many. I was almost in tears several times after coming back and uploading 100's of pictures only to find most did not come out. http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/574265894LIcSww?vhost=outdoors I am currently looking at DSLR's and really like the Canon t1i if anyone has any advice or suggestions please feel free to share. RangerChic 08-23-2009, 09:32 AM Awwww, that must have been devastating CAT. I have a Nikon D5000 DSLR which I love. Canon's are great though. I'm out the door shortly, but definitely want to look at your shots later. :) mtiger 08-23-2009, 08:21 PM Shannon- Look at you go. Just think, a few weeks ago you were worried about your plateau. What did you do again??? Up calories, or calorie cycle??? Please remind me and maybe I'll try whatever you did. Cruise- The photos you did get are beautiful. That must have been an awesome trip. I am just hanging out around 182. I was 182 even today. I worke like a dog outside, and I will get in a workout yet tonight. Maybe that will help??? HA!!! RangerChic 08-23-2009, 10:16 PM Shannon- Look at you go. Just think, a few weeks ago you were worried about your plateau. What did you do again??? Up calories, or calorie cycle??? Please remind me and maybe I'll try whatever you did. Zig-zag calories. Eat the same amount of calories per week, but just varied it each day. One day for example, I'd eat 1200, the next day, 1400 or thereabouts. Still equals the same in the end, just kind of cycles things. Bette k 08-23-2009, 11:49 PM Hi Everyone, Shannon: Great Job!!! Cruise Cat: Too bad about the pictures, but you still have the great memories. Mommy of six: I still have my treats too, but if I write them down then I know why I haven't lost any weight. Mtiger: You'll break that plateau soon, sometimes with me my body just has to take some time to adjust to the loss before letting go of more weight. Ok, Friday was Dr day, here are my offical results from the end of Feb. Weight -27 lbs Fasting Blood sugar Feb:123 Now 95 Total Cholestrol Feb 155 Now 127 Tryglycerides Feb 287 Now 155 Everyhting is great, I got a high 5 from the dr and the nurses want to know how I did it. My good cholestrol is still low, but the dr said that because the rest of my cholestrol is so low that he isn't going to worry too much about it. I go back in 3 more months and I would love to be down another 15 to 20 lbs. Everyone have a great week Bette K Luckybustert 08-24-2009, 03:19 PM Hi everyone! I'm down 2.8 lbs this week so pretty happy with that. But my initial reaction, before I did a little reality check, was disappointment because I haven't lost near as much weight as I'd wanted to during this challenge. So I had to kick myself and say hey, but I've lost 8.2 pounds and that in itself is an accomplishment. I have a tendency toward all or nothing thinking....so if I wasn't perfect on plan, I might as well go ahead and have that piece of pie because I've already failed, or thinking I'm a failure because I only lost x pounds when I wanted to lose y pounds. That's so counterproductive to losing weight and keeping it off, so I'm working on changing that view. I did an interesting experiment....I was comparing fitday.com and dailyplate.com and I put the exact same foods and quantities into both. Dailyplate.com came out 300 calories LESS than fitday.com. WTH? I can't risk undercounting by 300 calories per day so I think I'm going to stick with fitday. Part of the reason I decided that is because a lot of the listings on dailyplate.com were entered by users and I think that would introduce a greater margin of error than using a pre-defined set of tables. Fitday lets me enter custom foods that aren't on their tables, but if I underestimate those calories it only affects me. (This is the free version I'm talking about, by the way, don't know if there's anything different in the one you have to pay for.) Anyway...just my experience and my thoughts...your mileage may vary. sweetandspicy 08-25-2009, 11:04 AM Bette K- great job on your weight loss, and lowering your cholesterol, tryg. and blood sugar. I am sure your doctor was so proud and you should be too!!! JasonsLea 08-25-2009, 02:40 PM  girls! Sorry I've been MIA. I've been off the wagon for a while, but I'm slowly getting back on. Friday, I decided to cut out soda, cold turkey. I mean, all the sugar and empty calories just isn't good for me. I had a massive headache on Sunday from the time I woke up till I went to bed. I think it was from soda withdrawal. But I woke up Monday and I felt much better. Been soda free 4 days and counting!:carrot: I've also made a routine of taking my vitamins with a container of yogurt as soon as I roll out of bed every morning. Also brought a box of those Bran Buds by All Bran and been putting a serving into my protein smoothie every morning (51% daily fiber in just a 1/3 cup!). I have two water bottle, 34 and 32 oz, and I've been drinking at least three a day along with a cup of coffee with Splenda every morning.:coffee: I've been trying to get to bed at a sane time (no more 3 am!) and doing the whole 7 to 9 hours of sleep. Washing my face twice a day instead of just in the morning and doing the same with brushing my teeth, even using that mouthwash that's been sitting on my counter for the last couple of months. Using sunscreen in the morning and a face cream at night. Just....trying to take better care of myself with what I have, ya know? My phone has been off for like two weeks, my mama's finances are tight too. Should be on Friday hopefully. I applied for partial unemployment, hopefully I get something. i'm going to try for food stamps. The VA has a freeze on hiring until October so there's no hope of going fulltime till then. I'm just trying to make it.:^: Sorry for the rambling! :grouphug: mtiger 08-26-2009, 06:35 PM Things have gotten busy since I went back to work. I feel like i just don't have enough time in my day to get everything done. I know I just have to get back into the routine. Still hanging around 182. I still can't seem to find the 170's. :( I can only keep trying and hopefully it will happen soon. vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
