I have noticed that since I went on Atkins, my asthma has been MUCH better. Before, I had to inhale a pretty high dose of steroids 2x/day, but I haven't felt the need after about a couple days of Induction-level carbs!

LOVE THIS :D

And I did notice that bread/pizza would make me wheeze within about 30 minutes of eating it before. I mean, really feel like I couldn't breath deeply/was out of breath. Ugh.

What's up with that? :?: Anyone else experience this?

Also, heartburn vanished. Another thumbs-up!

A lot of literature attributes many illnesses, Asthma included to consumption of wheat - not sure how much I agree generally, as I think everything these days seems to be attributed to various non-existant allergies, but perhaps in your case your asthma is related to wheat??

I had to share this: After three days on Induction, I discovered my stomach didn't hurt and I wasn't constipated after many years of just tolerating my stomach hurting, bloating and general misery in my gut. I figured out I probably have gluten intolerance and I have never felt better. I have a stomach ache right now, but I think some ice cream I indulged in had gluten in it, not sure. But it was a blessing to discover what was causing the problems and a joy to let go of wheat products! Yay!!!

I also noticed that I get fewer yeast infections. Actually I haven't had one since I started the diet.

Also I haven't had my multiple mood swings a day and my boyfriend is so happy about that.

It's really awesome :)

I also noticed my sinuses are much better.

Interesting though... the first couple weeks I was on it, boy did my skin break out! Ugh! Who knows... maybe that whole "toxins" thing, which I am not a firm believer in, but it was odd. Hmmm! :chin:

Yeah, could be you have a small gluten intolerance so Atkins is helping you.

Whatever the reason, it's great that it's making a difference! :)

Heartburn gone, check.
Yeast infections gone, check.
And a host of other wonderful things!

I've had the same experience....heartburn and yeast infections disappear while on Atkins. When I've strayed from this way of eating, they've returned pretty quickly so that's a definite incentive for me to stay on plan. I've been told by dermatologists all my life that I have "eczema" and "atopic dermatitis".....but the interesting thing is it goes away when I'm on Atkins. To me that would indicate a food intolerance is causing the skin problems. And I also have less breathing-related difficulties while on Atkins. I have to laugh when people try to tell me how "unhealthy" Atkins is....because it makes me feel wonderful. It's when I try to eat the so-called "balanced, food-pyramid style" diet that I have so many medical issues.

Yes me too! I go thru an inhaler about once every 2-3 yrs now! Pretty darn cool. Heartburn still there tho.
