Hi Everyone:

OK, new week, new opportunities to do the right thing.

I began the week with a spinning class. I told the instructor that the ligaments above my knees were sore so that I would not be getting out of the saddle much today. I said "you know, they're almost 64 years old and I need them for a while longer, I hope." He looked aghast and said "You're how old?! I would never have guessed!!" I just loved that part. :woohoo: He must be every bit of 35 himself.

So, today, more of the same, but I must say that this place is looking really good. Too bad that I don't keep it this way. Maybe I can change that with the next house.

I hope you all have a good day. (Vickie, get some sleep )

Good Morning Ladies:)

Jubilant after getting off the scale this morning a my official Mon W-I and I'm out of the 170's and into the 160's again,so that mean I lost all my cruise gain.YIPEEE!!! High day and low day of counting calories, is really working for me,and all it is have a high calorie day and a low calorie day.[mine is 1600/600].

RHONDA-Thanks for the new pages, glad you told the your spinning instructor about your knees. Hope he understands and will give you less stressful spins on the bike. That's a great :carrot:compliment :carrot:he gave you. Staying healthy tends to makes one look younger than they are,big:cheer3: congrats:cheer2: for being healthy & doing exercise like you do.

VICKIE-Congratulations, Mary Ann! Woo Hoo! I'll be excited when I see the 2 60's. I'm glad you found something that is working for you. Jim and I saw Julie and Julia on Friday when it opened. We liked it ALOT. Meryl Streep was awesome. I feel sorry for Amy Adams that her performance is right up there next to Meryl's. The reviewers are saying that she isn't that good but how fair is that? Thanks for the congrats, We didn't see the movie yesterday, but will go this afternoon instead. We had a road race yesterday and all the traffic getting off the cape as what we were afraid to get suck in. Now that that's over the tourist will now trickle down to normal amount.

Morning Everyone,

Just popping in really quick while I download a book to listen to while I take the dog out for his/my walk. It's hot and muggy out (I could never live in the deep south) so we will probably only go for a half hour. Then today I'm finishing the laundry, cleaning the basement (it's finished) and taking pictures to post of my knitting. Then if there's time left I might go sew. Oh I also have to make peach sauce for the pork chops for dinner.

Since last week was a bust this weeks goals are the same: no wine (except Sat), walk every day (at least 5-6), drink my water, eat my fruits and veggies.

Rhonda - Yea on finishing the painting :broc: and on the NSV always nice when people can't guess your age.

Sloane - hang in there you're allowed to whine when everything around you is spinning out of control. My grandma was bi-polar and it's NOT an easy thing to be around, so again . As for DH he's doing well, he "went back to work" last week, he has restrictions so he's basically doing phone support out of the house for the rest of the month.....I'm learning more about industrial controllers than I EVER wanted to know. And I didn't kill him last week when he decided to stop taking his pain meds (not cut back but quit) and then moaned all night so I couldn't sleep and ended up on the couch to ticked off to sleep, but life moves on.....

Maryann - how did you like the movie? Did you stay in the 160's with your official wi?

Sandra - hope the tournament went well. You should brag.

Vicki - Did you survive the storms? The moved north of here but there's some major damage in the storm track. More headed this way this afternoon, one good thing our rain barrel is full again.

Coco and Paula -

Well I should get a move on my books finished downloading. Now I'll transfer it to the MP3 player and I'm off.

Have a great day everyone.

08-10-2009, 10:30 AM
Maryann - We posted at the same time.
:congrat: on getting the cruise weight off :congrat:. Enjoy your movie

08-10-2009, 12:17 PM
Congrats Maryann...and, keep on keeping on Tech!

We had major storms yesterday and last night. And, I mean MAJOR....lightning strikes everywhere, winds, blowing rain, flash flooding...but, we're OK.

I really want to see that movie!

Back to cleaning the bathrooms!....

Hi everyone. Things were busy this weekend -- getting things ready to go next Saturday. I have tomorrow off and then work right through Friday and we leave Saturday. Things are a bit organized, I'll get in better shape tommorrow and figure out what I need to do each night.

I've been eating healthy and my scale is actually down! Just really focusing on core food. I did get in my biking this week - Did I mention how I'm loving it!!! :) The one down fall, my but is sore!!! I think I need to invest in a nice cushy seat. The route I've been doing is getting easier and I'm keeping the bike on high tension most of the way. I went out yesterday am at 7:30! I think DH was shocked that I was moving that early. It felt good to get in a good 1/2 hour ride that early in the day.

Maryanne - HUGS about Leo. When does he start treatments again? Congrats on losing your vacation weight. I'm going to really try hard not to gain next week. Foodwise I'm bringing lots of healthy stuff and I plan on eating lots of lobster (without butter). I need to watch the alcohol.......

Rhonda - glad the house is coming along.DH did finish our upstairs and his working to finish the shed this week. Those 2 projects have both been going on since earleir this year. It will be nice to have it done and to NOT spend anything for a while.

Hi to everyone else. Need to get back to work :o

08-10-2009, 06:28 PM
Paula -

Congrats on getting in that riding.

If you buy a new seat for your bike beware of "cushy show room feel" you probably won't be happy in the long run. Mine felt really hard at the store but it's the one the girl who worked there recommended so I gave it a shot and am really happy with it.

Hi guys. I'm only down .4 this week which was a disappointment. I started exercising again this week and got three times in. It was my first exercise in about 3 or 4 weeks. She remeasured me. For the first 5 months, I lost 10 inches. In the last 6 weeks, I lost another 5 inches for a total of 15 inches. Too bad I'm still very, very large and have a long way to go. Oh Well!

I'll be back in the morning to catch up. I did all my stuff and now my eyes are killing me. I need to go hae a nap or something.

08-10-2009, 08:03 PM
Froufy responded to my email! She's doing awesome. She's down 24 pounds since she was last here. I love success stories! She hurt her ankle and has been out of commission for a while but is now feeling good. She's joined TOPS. I told her that WW membership was not required here so I hope she comes back. She said to say hello to everyone and wishes us all well. She's planning a trip to Vegas soon and a cruise in January. That's our Frouf!

Hey chicks! DS has been crying off and on for the last 24 hours, the nephew called and his insurance won't pay for his new medicine, and I had one parent write me a nasty note that insinuated I didn't know how to teach because of my new lesson plans! What is going on :?: I feel so bad for DS and the nephew, and that dad made me furious. All I could say to the student was, "that's harsh, he doesn't even know me". I could feel my face getting red; I was so angry!!! Now I am so tired! I guess all of the stress is making me feel that way. Sorry again for the venting, I just know you guys will understand :(

Rhonda-Thanks for your words of support. I guess the hardest thing is having to tell the nephew that he cannot stay with us again. He stole from us, lied to us, and used marijuana when he was here in March and April. He will not be out on the street, but will have to live with his mom which is not where he wants to be. All we can do right now is give him moral support and let him take care of himself.

Vickie-congrats on the loss. I hope you get some rest. I need some, too.

Maryann-way to go! Keep up the good work.

Donna-I am so glad to hear about your DH going back to work. Maybe your life will feel more normal when he is back at the office.

Paula-congrats on your loss! You are doing great!

I've got to get off of here and visit with DS. Night all!!

08-11-2009, 08:02 AM
Good Morning All:

I got up about 4:30 AM and started working on the house. That feels better than tossing and turning, fretting over it.

The kitchen is now spotless and shining. The bathrooms are so clean that I'm about to decide that we have to go up the street to the commercial area and use McDonald's toilets!

Sloan, I have been where you are with your nephew. I have had three people stomp through my life doing the same thing: living off me while using drugs, lying, stealing, and in all ways taking advantage of my too tender heart and mostly good nature. You're doing the right thing, even if it had meant that he had to be on the street. This might sound harsh, but it's not.

I sought some very experienced advice, including some from a physician I know who is a recovering addict who destroyed his family through his addictions before he got straight. He has held high positions of authority in the rehab movement and in the provincial government. He looked me right in the eye and told me in no uncertain terms that I was naive and that addicts care about one thing: the drug of choice, period. Whenever my heart aches about throwing two people out of my house, I remember his truth speaking.

I'm finding that I want to eat everything right now. This too will pass. We went out deliberately and had fish and chips at one of the best spots in town. We've had it only two times in 6 years, and did we suffer later! Even though it was delicious and well-prepared we both got indigestion. That might be the end of fish and chips in my life!

OK, back to work now...

Good Morning Ladies:)

Not feeling well this morning,I think I coming down with the common cold,so I going to do the [1000]Calories, today instead of going all the way down to the [600]ones. I guess chicken soup is in order for today.

DONNA-We having a very muggy day also on the cape, the nice weather is gone again and now it time to but the A/C on. Thanks I hope the scale stays out of the 170's. We did enjoy the movie Julia & Julie, it was all about Julia Child. the famous woman chef. The show started at 3:45 and we go out at at 5:45 just in time for rush hr.,but we had it home safe & sound.

RHONDA-Thanks for you congrats,we're suppose to get a bad thunderstorm last night also, but we think it went up either the 95 corridor to Boston or it fizzled out to sea. We need something to bring the cool air back again.

PAULA-Congrats to getting the scale downward and staying on core foods.I have to find some good filling food when I go on the low calorie count day. Leo starts is treatment Wednesday morning,so I won't be here on the board until some time in the afternoon. Thanks, I thought I never get out of the vacation gain,as I've never done before. I was a shock to see the 160's that fast again. Hope it stays off.

VICKIE-Congrats on your lose & you're lost inches, and that's a good thing. Some time the body has to think of what to do next.

SLOANE-Sorry that you had such a bad day and home & at school.Hope you have better times in the future. Thanks I hope this time around I'll finally hit my goal, at least my first 10% goal.

08-11-2009, 09:03 PM
Quiet here today...well, just more of the same for me. Tomorrow morning the house is listed. It's too late now!

I think our flat roof is just about to leak. We've had enough rain this year for about 5 years and I fear the worst...oh well, it will only be more money!

Have a great night everyone!

08-11-2009, 09:23 PM
I had a pretty good day at school. The students are still working hard. My eating is all over the place, but I'm at 129, so I'm okay for now. I know I need to do some cooking, but just have not made myself do it.

Rhonda-thanks for the quote from your doctor friend. I'm gonna share that with DH. I hope your roof holds out. My parents had a flat roof, and it was a constant battle. Just get it sold, quick! :fr:

Maryann-feel good soon! Chicken soup sounds like just what the doctor ordered! :getwell:

Hey to the rest of you chickies!

08-12-2009, 05:57 AM
Hey Chicks. I'm just up here in the middle of the night again. Can't get comfortable with the kidney stone discomfort. I think I'll break down and make an appointment with the specialist to see what's going on here.

Donna, it sounds like you are regaining control and that things are slowly getting back to normal for you. The knitting and the walking both sound like good ideas. fingers are crossed that your roof holds until you get your house sold.

Sloan, you can't please everyone. Don't let it get you down. I'm sorry about your Nephew, especially the upset it must be causing your DS. I don't have children myself, but I've learned from watching my Sisters and Niece and that it's hard to practice tough love. I'll hold your family in my good thoughts and prayers.

Sandra, I hope you're doing well in your tournament.

Paula, congratulations on the exercise and the good eating. Where is vacation?

Mary Ann, there is nothing worse than a summer cold. I hope you feel better soon.

I'm off to surf. Have a great day. I had exercise and a trip to Super Walmart planned, but we'll see.

08-12-2009, 02:00 PM
Bummer. I'm on my way to facility for a CT scan of my kidney. Good thoughts, please!

Talk to you all later.

Hi Ladies:)

We just came back from chemo center.

The traffic was horrendous, lucky it was the other direction. Its was a long day as the both of us got up at 6:15 and out of the house at 8AM.

We got there earlier than our appointment so the doctor didn't get to order in for the chemo from the pharmacy,so we had to wait until that was placed ,but in the mean while the nurse got the port flushed, and than they tried to get blood from the port and it didn't happen.

After, the chemo was ready and it took only 10m in inject. After the treatment the nursers tried again to get the blood from the port and it came, we were on our way home.

SLOANE-As fast as the cold came, its gone again,I guess rest drinking lots of liquids and taking my Zican did the trick.I feeling like my old self again.

VICKIE-OH MY!!!! Kidney stones,I just can imagine the pain that your in as I had one big one and had to be hospitalized many years ago. Once they put the dye in the veins that stone deteriorated and I passed what was left of the stone. The cold is gone, and I'm happy about that, don't need to give Leo any unnecessary germs. GOOD Thoughts and [[[[[good vibes]]]]] are on there way.

Hi All:

The house has been on the market since this morning and already about 8 people have been by with their agents. We were here for some, and gone for the others. More are coming this evening. That's good news. There will be an open house Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Roof still intact, but we do have a problem in the basement bathroom floor....there is water from somewhere I know! I believe that between the roof and that problem we are going to spend more $$$$$$$$$$$$$. Oh well, maybe it will be worth it; if it's not, we don't sell....simple.

My eating is weird, that's all I'll say about that. But, I lost another pound over the last 10 days.

My heart goes out to you guys: Vickie, Maryann, Sloan with the real troubles of health and well-being...holding you all in my good thoughts.

08-12-2009, 06:53 PM
Hi there. We are home. Actually, we got home Monday evening but I've been too pooped to pute. Curtis was able to finish all days of shooting. I won and set records for women in their 60's and 50's. Eating has been horrific. Now we're settling in and getting back on track. I did not make it to WW yesterday but am planning to do so next week. Right now, we're still trying to regroup from the trip.

Vickie, I am so sorry you're having problems with kidney stones. I hope you're better quickly.

Rhonda, congrats on losing that pound. Maybe I need to dos ome weird eating.

Sloan, I am totally impressed with your weight being 129. I can't even imagine what I'd look like at that weight.

Maryann, is Leo doing all right? How are you?

Hi Ladies:)

I was in a bit of rush this morning, to get to the grocery store before the heavy rains hit.
Leo not feeling well due to the chemo he had yesterday. He very tired and fatigued,so I let him sleep.

Now that I saw Julia & Julie I have cooking on my mind and I'm going to attempt to make Beef Bourguignon over the weekend. According to the movie the recipe almost resembles beef goulash. Wish me luck.

Going to watch the PGA tournament this afternoon.Hope Leo is up by than,as he love golf more than I do,but unfortunately we don't play, due to bad backs.

RHONDA-That a good sign that you had 8 people,You'll sell you house. If the basement bath is leaking you must fix it in order to sell. Or you could drop the price, either way.

SANDRA-He getting tired & fatigued from the chemo, but hopefully the meds will work for this coughing.

Hi All,

Just popping in really quick since I'm whipped. Things have been going ok this week. Not great but ok. Today I took my nephew to the zoo to see the anamatronic (sp) dinosaurs for his birthday. It was hot and he is a crazy child, so now I am going to relax for the evening.....And I'm counting walking around the zoo for the better part of 4 hrs as my walk for the day!

Have a great one everyone. I'll try to stop in tomorrow to "talk" to everyone.

-Tech :flow2:

08-13-2009, 07:45 PM
Maryann and Donna, it's good to see you here today. Where is everyone else? I hope they are out there doing the "right" thing. I need to get my eating under control. Other than that--Life is Good.

08-13-2009, 09:21 PM
Well, Sandra, we were out of the house much of the day while people looked at the house. I went to the office for a few hours, then had a manicure....pedicure tomorrow because they couldn't work me in on short notice.

Many, many more came by today...all is good, so far.

I'm tired beyond belief and DH is even worse

08-14-2009, 09:47 AM
Good Morning Chicks. I'm hanging in there. I'm still in a bit of pain but the worst has subsided for now. I had my CT scan on Wednesday afternoon. No one called me from the Doctor's office so I'm assuming that the stone is small enough to pass on it's own. No call to set up an emergency lithotripsy or stent. So.......

I'm still on program and doing ok. It's going to be really hot today and through the weekend so it's pool pool pool for me. I just have to figure out a way to protect my hair which is getting cut and colored today.

Have a great day and drink your water.

08-14-2009, 01:40 PM

Hi Ladies:)

Nothing new, Leo & I are relaxing watching the golf champions playoffs.
Woke up late and than had to go out and get Leo's meds, and than starting dinner, got me off guard with the time.

DONNA-I can imagine having your nephew with you can be never wreaking, as when my DGC came up to see us I forgot how wild they can be,not having them around all the time. I count that as your exercise for the day for 4 miles, that good workout.

SANDRA-Don't think anything is wrong as in the summer they're different things to do,and that's a reason I almost forgot to check in. My weigh was stall for the last 3 days but now its moving downward again. Not going to count my chicken until Monday W-I.

RHONDA-That's a good sign and you'll be on your way soon.Hope you get some rest and try to relax.

VICKIE-Happy to bear that your more comfortable today,If you have to pass the stone yourself make sure you drink lots of liquids and along with some cranberry juice. That what they told me to do. The POOL is a great way to exercise doing laps and staying cool also.

PAULA-Hope you see this post have a great time in Maine enjoy and relax a little.

08-14-2009, 05:41 PM
Rhonda, I didn't realize ya'll were this close to showing. I hope you get some high bids. Now you both get some rest.

Maryann, congrats on moving your scales down again.

Vickie, I'm glad you didn't get the call from your doctor. Enjoy your day in the pool.

Well, chickies, I got fingerprinted and had my mugshot made today. All public school personnel have to do so now in Texas. Now I'm a couple of steps closer to subbing. Life is good.

08-14-2009, 10:20 PM
Just got home from the club. :swim: 45 min :ebike: 10 min.

08-14-2009, 10:41 PM
tired, tired, houses this weekend also....

Sandra, good for you for joining Vickie in the pool!

Maryann, glad you're getting some prime golf watching time in!

08-15-2009, 09:04 AM
sleep helped!

We're out of the house most of today while the realtor hosts an open house. I'll check in tonight.

I hope you all have a good and OP day.

08-15-2009, 09:33 AM
I've had an exhausting week! Sorry I haven't checked in, but we had some issues with the computer. The layered curriculum plan is going well, so far. The main problem is writing the plans and timing them just right. We know this will get better as we go along. My eating has been nuts, but I'm still maintaining. I have managed to stay on core foods for breakfast and lunch, and then I get crazy. I guess the balance is working okay as I have not gained, yet. I got to go to "choir practice" with some of my teacher friends last night. We had a good time visiting and "singing" the margarita song!

The work on the house is going very slowly, and the mess is still everywhere! It is so hard to get things done after working all day at school, and the weekends have been very busy. I'm hoping we get our "second wind" and get finished soon.

Rhonda-It's great that you have so many people looking. I hope the bathroom and roof are minor problems, and you sell quickly. What are you going to do for housing until you move to Texas?

Sandra-Setting records! I feel like I know a celebrity!

Maryann-I'm still praying for you and Leo. I hope he perks up soon. Is this the kind of chemo that causes nausea? I hope not!

Vickie-have you given birth to that stone yet? I hope it is an easy labor. When I passed my first stone, it sat in my bladder for one week, and I had bladder spasms 24/7. Sad times! I agree with Maryann about forcing fluids. My doctor also told me to be up as much as possible, so I walked a lot. Maybe the activity in the pool will be good for you.

Hey to the rest of you chickies!

Hi Ladies:)

We both had a bad night and slept in late.Woke up with a very bad headache right in front of my eyes. I can't seen to get rid :(of it . Had to go out in the horrendous traffic we have up here on the weekend. One of my errand took me to Walmart and they renovation the whole store. Had to ask at least 2 sales people where the things I wanted were.

Once I finish posting I'm going to relax again and watch the golf game.

THANKS SANDRA-Its up a little this morn put hopefully it will be down again by Mon W-I .

THANKS RHONDA-I think I need to stop and take care of myself at that this time.

THANKS SLOANE-for your prayers,Yes the chem he is taking does make him nauseous. That the reason he doesn't want to eat.Lucky the aleve that he took this morning is relieving him from that.

Have a great day, will post tomorrow morning.

08-15-2009, 07:03 PM
Rhonda, good success with open house. I hope you get a buyer super fast.

Sloan, I am still amazed at your weighing 129. That's a good place to maintain--isn't it?

Maryann, how is your headache? My feet are a might sore today but it's a good soreness. I feel like I got them a lot of exercise yesterday in :swim:.

Today's eating has been controlled--not op--but controlled. I am getting better.

08-15-2009, 08:01 PM
We're about to have steak, fresh corn, grilled asparagus, red wine and fresh strawberries for dessert with a really good good can life get?

08-15-2009, 08:59 PM
Rhonda-keep mine warm, I'm on my way

08-15-2009, 11:32 PM
Hope you enjoyed it was nice to have you here...we Chickies need to get together more often!

08-16-2009, 09:10 AM
out of the house again today....

I hope you all have a good day..I'll check in tonight. I'm happy to report that I put on only .4 pound in my crazy eating. That's coming off; I'm headed out to spinning class now.

Sloan, DH will likely go to Texas and get new house ready and I'll stay with a friend here until mid-December.

08-16-2009, 10:30 AM
Good Morning Chicks! It's odd to see that we are all a bit frazzled at the moment. I hope things settle down soon and we can all get back on the easy track. Is there one of those in life?

Rhonda, I remember how hard it was to sell. It's not just the fixing up but the living "clean" and the looking for places to go during open houses. I pray you sell quickly.

Sloan, hang in there. Transition is hard.

Sandra, congratulations on your exercise! How's the eating going?

Mary Ann, I hope that stubborn headache went away.

I still have my buddy the stone. We'll see what the urologist says next Friday. I went in the pool anyway Friday and Saturday because I had to! The swimming season in Chicago is short and I couldn't miss two days. We are supposed to be able to go in today but it's looking like the scattered rain predicted is going to scatter over Tinley Park! Oh well. There doesn't look like another day to swim for over a week.

I still expect some kind of a loss tomorrow at JC. I've been on program and at an average of less than 1700 all week. We'll see.

Have a great day and drink your water. I've been having at least 10 eight ounce glasses a day. I think it helps. Well, except for the stone.

08-16-2009, 12:41 PM
Hi chickies! Going to church then lunch with the extended fam. Hope all of have a restful day planned. I agree with Vickie. It does seem like we all are having some kind of craziness! I know it will get better, and we can all whine to each other until it's over!

Rhonda-You're right, we do need to get together more often! I know the transition to Texas will be a little stressful, but the end result will be awesome! Do some spinnin' for me!

Vickie-I wish that little sucker would leave your body! Hopefully the doc will shed some light on what's going on. I'm wishin' some sunshine your way!

Have a good Sunday!

08-16-2009, 06:06 PM
Rhonda, ;) ;) ;) ;) for a quick sale at a good price. So, why wasn't I invited to join you and Sloan?

Vickie, my eating has been a lot better the past 2 days. Baby steps. I am still thinking of rejoining WW Tuesday. I'm just glad I have the choice. Maybe I should celebrate that. I know at times in the past, I did not have the choice. Life is good. Folks in Ohio told us they'd had a cool, wet summer. It hasn't been that way in Texas. Right now the heat index is 102*.

We went to church this AM and the roof didn't even fall in. Now we're debating on whether or not to go to a group get together tonight. One minute I want to go; the next I want to stay home.

08-16-2009, 07:42 PM
Sandra-same here with church. It has been weeks since we have gone, and when we went today, our church managed to stay on it's foundation also! God is so good. I'm so glad that I am forgiven, 'cause if I wasn't, it would H*** for me! Oh yea, I invited myself to dinner with Rhonda; you'll have to do that next time! ;)

08-16-2009, 09:00 PM
Sloan, you are so funny. Okay, next time if I forget, will you invite me along with you to Rhonda's?

We decided to stay home tonight instead of going to the meeting. It's so hot out, we're about to melt into a puddle.
