Hi, I haven't posted in a while but I've been working hard and lurking. Yesterday I weighed 154, normal BMI! I'm starting to worry less and less what the scale says and just focus on my goal physique but I can't deny the joy I feel having a normal BMI for the 1st time ever as an adult :carrot:
I've been getting serious about bodybuilding and I started working out with a girlfriend at the gym 4 days a week lifting heavy. We took some before pics and the plan is to take some after pics after our 12 week plan. One of the female trainers at my gym said I should enter a contest. I have a ton of respect for her and the comlement means the world to me. I'm actually giving it some thought now.
Here are the pics...what do you think? Should I do a show? I'll post follow up pics after our 12 week program (10 weeks to go).

The weird patch of skin on my right inner thigh is a skin graph from a 3rd burn and the scaring on the outer thigh is where they took the skin. I also have burns on my left hand, wrist, arm with a skin graph on my wrist.

Thank you HotWings :-) It feels good to hear someone say they want my bod LOL :D Glad I could help you out today with my post  I'm thinking about the show. I've already commited to a 1/2 marathon in October so I'm going to do that and I think afterwards I'm going to cut out a lot of my cardio and focus on the bodybuilding. So maybe a show sometime next year and I'll be sure to share it on 3FC.
You should go for it! I think your body type is a natural for it - you're muscular and you have nice proportions and shape.
Hi Julie, Thanks so much! I've always been pretty muscular now I just have to drop more bodyfat and hope some of my skin will tighten up. You can't tell that good in the pics but the skin in my belly area especially above my belly button is very loose. I saw my Dr. a couple of weeks ago and she said it was loose/extra skin and that I should give it a year and see how much it will tighten up. If I sit down or bend over I have a nice little flap right there. I guess time will tell.
 Wow, wow, wow! You look phenomenal! Look at those arms, wowzers. :strong:

Thanks Beck! I'll post after pics for sure. I hope I can see more definition in my legs in another 10 weeks. That would make me super happy :D

Hi Drina!!! Good go hit the gym and lift heavy! :wl: I'm not sure if I told you this before but I LOVE your posts and I've been extremely inspired by progress. You've done such a fantastic job and you showed me that I could do it too. So thank you
As for the show, I think my first step will be going to one and talking to some girls about their experience with it. I got to be honest I do like the idea of it ;)

How amazing, as someone else said, i am just gagging to get to overweight BMI, just 1 pt to go!!
Hope you don't take this the wrong way, but...
You look fab now, and you have lost so much weight, are you not afraid of the extra bulk that will come with progressing further down the body building path?

Ellie, I know this wasn't directed at me, but if I may... a few things. First, muscle burns fat and results in one becoming leaner. Daniela is replacing fat with muscle, and is becoming tighter and more fit in the process (and burning more calories). Even if she adds a lot more muscle, she'll actually get smaller as the layers of fat fall off. Second, women don't have enough testosterone to get really huge the way men do. The female body builders you see with gargantuan muscles typically take loads of supplements (both legal and illegal) to give them a more favorable hormone profile.
Also, conventional dieting and exercise methods typically leads to significant muscle loss, which lowers your metabolism and makes you look flabby. Up to half the weight you lose can be lean mass, and the only way to hang on to it is by properly fueling your body and lifting weights.
So hit the iron!
And Daniela, I just have to say again you totally inspire me! :carrot:

Hi Ellie, thank you much :-) Thanks for the question, I think it's a great one that many women are worried about.
As for me I am not afraid of the "extra bulk". My goal once I'm done with my 1/2 Marathon in Oct is to see how ripped I can get :o This is all new to me and I'm not sure how much I'll weigh or how "big" I can get. Right now I eat 2000 cal per day (160g protein, split the rest between carbs and fat) and I'm still losing. So I'm not adding any muscle (you need to eat a surplus of calories to gain muscle) I'm just strengthening and defining the muscle I have. ALL of my measurements are smaller it just looks like I'm getting bigger because I'm losing a lot of body fat so you can SEE all the muscle that I have underneath.
Right now I don't think I look that bulky when I'm not flexing but I would like to get to a point where you can see more definition when I'm relaxed. Again I'm not sure how far I'm going to take this, personally like the muscle look and I want to see how much I can transform my body. It all comes down to personal preference when I first started losing weight I just wanted to be smaller, get skinny but now I'm thinking more about being stronger, more fit and active, looking sculpted. I will have to admit the only thing that sucks is that I miss my boobs LOL the crazy thing is that I had a breast reduction at 19 from a 36 DD to a C, now I'm a 34B :(

Hey Ellie, I appreciate it and I understand where you are coming from with your question. I feel like I get more looks in the gym now when I deadlift my own bodyweight then when I was overweight.

I know, it is one of those things I suppose, that gets a lot of attention, especially in wome, and what an amazing feat!
I think maybe where I am coming from is having felt big, not just fat, but Bulky, and hefty at so many times in my life, what I have always most wanted is the slender Gazelle look, but I can completely understand your aims also, and if building more muscle is the best for you, then that's all there is to it! :bravo:

Trust me it's there, the instant I bend over you can see it :p It's the one area that bothers me the most because I'm not sure I'll ever get rid of it. If I want to bodybuild I need to show my abs (which are rock hard under there) guess time will tell. Thanks for the comment :)
