Come out, come out, wherever you are! :)

I notice that the posts are getting TONS of reads. That means there are lots of lurkers out there right?

Come, introduce yourself. :)

We won't bite! We're watching our calories! :D

Hi Amanda and welcome to 3FC!

I think the number of reads goes up exponentially quite naturally. If everyone who posts to the thread comes back to read it as new posts are added, the reads are going to go way up! It doesn't make sense for every one following the thread to respond to every post, so the ratio will never be one to one.

But lurkers abound too!

I am embarrassed to ask but where do you see how many times a post has been read? I am sure that it is right under my nose. :)

Julie! True!

but yesterday I got a TON TON TON of emails about that calorie deficit chart from people I have yet to run across in posts. So yeah, they are out there. ;) It's easier to get support and use this wonderful place to the best of it's potential if people come out and give and get the support we all SO DESPERATELY need at times. ;)

Just trying to make them feel more at home. hehe.

:)

Welcome Amanda! :D

to the left---apparently I don't know my left from right. to the RIGHT of the post on the main msg board page where all the threads are listed, it says "posts" and "read" or something like that, tells you how many posts are in a thread and how many views it has (maybe it says 'views'). dunno which one! :dizzy:

I've only posted once, so I believe I am a lurker! I'm Peggy. Have been overweight all my life -- always a struggle, always a monkey on my back. I am now down a little over 30 lbs. and am only 3 pounds from my first goal. I've added another 15 - 20 to that goal, but will feel awesome when I reach the first one.

I am on the Jenny Craig program and have been since late last September. By now I am on mostly my own foods. I think the slow loss has helped me change my lifestyle.

Out of everything I am most proud that I began to run! I can't believe I am now a runner. I've told myself I couldn't run all of my life. Then one night I decided I wanted to be a runner. So I became one. Slow at first -- heck, it's even slow now! But I do run 2 miles nearly every day. I need to start working up to 3 miles, and I know I can do it!

Nice to meet you all. You've inspired me so much!!

I'm definitely a lurker. I'm on here reading every day but I just don't post. I'm extremely shy both in real life and on the internet ;)

This site is so great, I've learned so much and have much more to learn I'm sure. Many Thanks to the active posters who make 3FC so wonderful :)

Welcome! I have a good 25 lbs prolly or more to lose before I can run, my left knee is wonky and I Need to start taking glucosamine/chondroitin for awhile and then get some money together to get an enell sports bra ( www.enell.com ) and some good running shoes. I can't wait to run though! I just got the idea in my head one day that that was my next big goal was to run. :D and I will! :D

Congrats to you for getting there and congrats on the lbs lost, you can do it! :D

Remember that "reads" include the count from people who are not registered but just come to read or snoop. Sometimes we have many more of those folks online than members. That's why the MODs freak when folks post their real addresses or email addy!

I guess I am a lurker too, thought have replied to some post here and there. I am 27 year old, living in sunny San Diego. I am trying to loose 20 pounds, I started at 130 lbs (I weighed in today and was 127.2 lbs :)) and am trying to eat healthier food and exercise more. I was never an exercise person, but am trying to be one.
Oh and one more thing!! Sweets are my biggest weakness :( and is the biggest hurdle I am facing in my weight loss journey.

Hi everyone! My name is Laura and I joined yesterday afternoon. With 3 munchkins, I either wind up spending too much time on the computer, or feeling guilty for not being supportive and posting to everyone (I say this from experience from pregnacy boards). So, as with about everything in my life right now, I'm trying to find a balance... I feel pretty overwhelmed because of some of my obsticles, but have never let one stand in my way...they just freak me out in the beginning. ;) Onederland inspired me to really examine the right way to do this and I am leaning toward calorie counting. (Thanks again for that!) I am open to anything and everything and just appreciate the kind welcome from everyone! Can't wait to get moving and get to know you all! :) btw... not trying to kiss up here, but thought you all should know that I see your pictures on here and think you are all beautiful just as you are - and your notes show me that it clearly is not just surface with you all... that makes me sooooo happy! hugs, Laura

Heather! hi! So glad you have finally posted! and congrats on the 18.5 lbs lost that is fantastic. and sure you had a .5 lb loss but it's better than a .5 gain. ;) Look on the bright side eh? :D hehe.

I dont' work either and it makes eating out of boredom REALLY easy. Trying to stop that! Slowly but surely it's working itself out. :)

Lottie, what a great idea this was/is.

Hello and welcome to each and every one of you. I agree post away. PARTICIPATE. Makes the support that much more - support-ive and useful. Ask questions, join the accountability thread, start your own threads - get involved. Keeps you more focused. Focused is good. :)

A great big :wel3fc: to ALL of our former (and current!) lurkers! Jump on in and post, OK? Every posting member contributes something new here, so do your part and put in your thoughts, experiences, opinions, and knowledge. That's what makes 3FC so great!

Can't wait to get to know all of you better.

<==Guilty of lurking, I did post a few times though. I'm Lyna, I'm 27 years old, I've been a big girl since I was 5. I generally don't post or reply to anything because the topics are usual brought up and answered already. I'm on here reading basically all day. Since joining this website, I've lost 28lbs since June 4th! The support here is amazing. Thank you everyone!

Great idea, Lottie!

I post for accountability. I find that reading and responding when I can, helps keep me focussed. Days when I'm not around much mean I'm not trying much - but I appreciate that's just me!

I'm Dee.. I lurk almost constantly, but had forgotten not only my login, but what email I used, so was out of luck for logging in. Luckily I remembered I had actually posted on the Jingle Away the Pounds thread, so i'm back in action. Nice to "meet" everyone, and thanks for the welcomes for all us lurkers. Oh, and Lottie... a good place to get Enell bras a bit cheaper (about half price) is to figure out your size and order from Ebay.. the ones I got were brand new with tags, but were ones that had slight snags in the satiny finish.. not like i'm gonna wear them without a shirt, right? Other than that.. hope everyone had a great week and Saturday, and everyone wish me luck dealing with the barbecue we are having tomorrow.

Hi stellargirl, I'm calorie counting on www.sparkpeople.com, this way I can eat anything within' moderation... I jsut don't "do" deprivation or demonizing of food. It never works in the long run!

I also do cardi/strength training/yoga ...at least one of them every day.

I think sunday is my most relaxed day with just some yoga. feel free to PM me if you'd like to be diet buddies! :D
