LA Weight Loss - What size were you when you weighed..

08-06-2009, 08:59 PM
I haven't been 150 for years, but I know I was a size 12, at 5'4".

But I forget what sizes I wore from 12 to 22. Like when I get down to 210, will I be a 16, 18?? I can't remember.

I know we're all different, but this might be interesting. So list your height and different weights and sizes you can remember.

Thanks in advance.

150 is pretty much my goal, and I was there for like a minute a few years ago.

At 5'6", I was a size 6 when I weighed 150. I couldn't wear skinny cut jeans or pants though, because I've always been a little hippy. Very hourglass.

08-06-2009, 09:15 PM
You'll probably be in smaller sizes than you think -- sizes have gotten bigger as the population has gotten bigger. I'm 5'4" too, and at 135 I'm usually in a 4, sometimes a 6. I started at 225, wearing size 20 or 22. I'm not completely sure, but I think at 175 I was in a 14. At 150 I was probably in an 8. Hope that helps.

08-06-2009, 09:18 PM
Thanks, that's very interesting. And I really like the idea of being in an 8 (who cares if the mfg'ers are making the sizes different - an 8 is an 8!!)

08-06-2009, 09:23 PM
I am only 5'2" but 174 I was a 14. I am 164 and I am still in my 14s but only but a little bit =)

08-06-2009, 09:32 PM
this is intresting.. everyone is shaped 5'5 and currently weight 216, and into a size 16

08-06-2009, 09:39 PM
Now see, I don't think I was a 16 at 216. Maybe at 200. And you're only an inch taller than me. Wish I had that inch!! :)

08-06-2009, 09:43 PM
I am 5'3"

up to 208 = size 18 jeans
current 178= size 16 jeans
recall 168= size 14 jeans
vaguely remember 145= size 10

08-06-2009, 09:46 PM
i think it also depends on the brand..i know if i shop at a plus size store, some things its 14..but i just went shopping at walmart..cause i refuse to pay top price fro clothing thats only going to fit for a month and they were size 16 or lg...

I'm 5'9" with very narrow hips. At 350 lbs, I wore a size 24, around 290-270 I wore a size 18-20, Right now at 243 lbs, I fit into a 16 in some pants, 18 in most. Right now the 16's fit my legs perfectly, but squish up my stomach fat! I wouldn't wear them.

08-06-2009, 10:58 PM
I'm 5'4. At 150, I wore a 12, but that was over ten years ago. I don't know if the sizes have changed. Somehow I wore an 18 when I was 190 - 215. I wear a 20 at 230 lbs.

08-06-2009, 10:59 PM
I'm 5'4"

215 - 20W
185 - 16W
160 - 14
150 - 10-12
140 - 8-10
130 - 6-8
120 - 4-6 (with an occasional 2 or 8 hanging in my closet - there is no rhyme or reason to clothing sizes these days)

08-06-2009, 11:05 PM
When I was 150 in high school I wore a size 10/12 at 5'2. When I weighed 190 I was in a 14w and now at 230 I am in an 18.

08-06-2009, 11:13 PM
Im confused..a

All my life I was a size 0 or a 1....I weighed 112 in high school...and I was VERY skinny...I hated it...Mostly because Im a black mixed girl and with having black friends (in compton) you must have "hips and @ss" that is associated with being black (stereotypes)...My sister did though....everyone loved her.

After my first baby I went back to a ) after the 2nd I went to a 3...After the 3rd I went to a 5...and now I am a 5...I dont have hips and I have a nice butt but hey...I have always been small so When I was 165 it was heck for me! And people around me had a good ol time making me cry and hurt about being overweight....

I am 5ft 4in and I weight 146....Im on the P90X.

08-07-2009, 12:03 AM
I'm 5'6 and at 230 I was about a size 22, now at 205 I'm an 18.

08-07-2009, 12:10 AM
I am 5'3 and weigh 141 and wear a size 6. At 150 I was a size 8. I think the sizes are different now because I remember being very skinny in high school and wearing a size 6, but maybe that was a jr. 6.

I'm 5'11 and 256. I wear a 16. 150 is below my goal weight.

08-07-2009, 03:26 AM
Im only 4'11 145 lbs and wearing a 8-10. And I hate it!

08-07-2009, 04:32 AM
At 242 (2002) I was a stretched UK26, with one UK32 sweater.

At 136 (2004) I was a UK12 and UK12, with one UK10 coat.

At 120 (1982) I was a UK10 and UK12.

I can't imagine ever being less than a UK10, being a total apple but I think I'd like to be consistently one.

08-07-2009, 04:43 AM
I'm 5'4" and my figure is that of an inverted triangle (wide shoulders, big boobs, no hips). At 147, I'm solidly a size 8 in women's petites, but I wear anywhere from a medium to an extra large in tops.

160s: US 12
150s: US 10
140s: US 6-8
130s: 4-6 (I hope)

(Edited for grammar.)

I've noticed a difference in myself & sizes depending on how tone I was at the time.

I'm 5'2"

204 - snug 16 (refused 18)
190 - 16 very comfy
170 - 14
150 - 12
unfit 140 - I still wore a 12
fit 140 - 10's were perfect
fit 135 - size 8
fit 132 - I tried on a size 6 moments before it dawned on my that I was pregnant. I didn't buy the pants.

08-07-2009, 10:00 AM
When I was 160,I wore size 10.
Now at 259,I wear size20.

08-07-2009, 10:25 AM
5' 9"
Highest 247 - 20-22
Current 221.6 - 16ish (not sure haven't shopped at this weight yet)
Goal 175 - 10-12

08-07-2009, 10:42 AM
I'm 5'7" and I'm wearing an 8/10 now at 156lbs.

08-07-2009, 11:01 AM

size 18 roughly 187-197 (was approaching growing out of 18s when I started losing weight)

size 16 roughly 173-186

size 14 roughly 161-172

size 12 roughly 151-160

size 10 roughly 143-150

size 8 roughly 138-142

size 6 about (?) - 137

08-07-2009, 11:13 AM
I'm 5'6" 259 and wear a 20W.

08-07-2009, 11:35 AM
I love reading how everyone is so different!

I'm 5'5-ish and proportionately curvy:

184 (high weight)- XL tops and barely squeezing into 14s so more likely a 16
167 (current weight) - L tops and 14s are falling off my hips and can get into a lot of my 12s (yeah!)
150 (goal weight) - Medium tops and size 10s fitting just right with maybe an occasional 8 depending on the cut

It's been about 6.5 years since I was last 150 and all I can say is...I will be beyond ecstatic to wear M tops (because I *am* busty) and size 10s again!

It's funny, when I hit my late teens I never thought about losing weight I stayed around 125-135 for a long time. I was healthy, active, strong and shapely. But I joined the army and they told me I had to weigh 105 max. And it began the horrible gain/lose cycle I'm still fighting now. I never got down to 105, was always in the 'fat boy' program where they basically belittled you and made you go to extra PT to lose the excess.

So, at 135 I wore a tight size 14. As I gained weight I never really thought about how fat I was getting because I stayed in size 14.

135 size 14 in the 1980's, Med-L tops
175 size 16 in the 1990-2000's L to XL tops
197 sausage size 16W-you know where you have to suck in your gut to fasten your pants and you look like a sausage stuffed inside...I went to the XL elastic waste bands after that. But could easily fit into an 18 if not more. XL tops
155 in 2005 size 10-tight Med-L tops
now 178 size 14W-16W depending on the design L-XL tops

We really need a standard for clothes sizes.

So, at 135 I wore a tight size 14. As I gained weight I never really thought about how fat I was getting because I stayed in size 14.

So true! About 20 years ago I weighed about 120 and wore a size 8. About 10 years ago I weighed about 130 and wore a size 8 (although I attribute that partly to being in much better shape, with more muscle, than when I was 20). Now I weigh about 140 and wear a size 8. It's almost spooky - every 10 years I can wear the same size at 10 pounds higher weight.

08-07-2009, 12:35 PM
this is FASCINATING! i may need to rethink my goal weight of 125...I'm 5'2" but as of this morning my size 12 cargo pants are dropping unattractively. i've been buying mediums, have a few size 10's - but i'm 167 lbs and still obese. DH keeps telling me i don't have 40 lbs to lose, and i've been waving him off. maybe he's right? hm. if i'm a 10 at 167, then, well - huh. i'm maybe 10 lbs heavier than i was in high school, and i'm almost 40 now. interesting.

08-07-2009, 11:35 PM
If memory serves correct (sizes correct in the 90's early 00's unsure)

129 lb size 11 (1993)
135 lb size 13 (1997)
155 lb size 15 (1999) (plus size junior)
165 lb size 14 (2000) (that's right! smaller size)
190 lb size 16 (2002)
235 lb size 20 (2003)
256 lb size 22/24 (2005-2007)

now I'm 213 lb size 18/20. I'm 5'6 and this height since 1993. I've never been a single digit size. Now that's possible because in the 90's I would have had to weigh between 105-115 tops to be one. Gotta love vanity sizes.

08-08-2009, 04:20 PM
Let me try to remember...

I'm 5'3"
At 130 I wore a size 7-9 (small in most shirts)
At 150 I wore a size 11 (medium in most shirts)
And now, at 168, I wear a size 13. (medium to large in shirts)

08-08-2009, 06:09 PM
My HW was 163 and my LW was 139. My size rarely fluctuates. I'm about an 8/10 at those weights though some brands I can fit a 12 or a 6. I'm 5'9".

08-09-2009, 01:28 AM
I'm 5'1" and at my current weight (223) I'm wearing a size 18 for the most part - sometimes a 20 or a 16 depending on the clothes.

At my lowest weight, 134 in 2001, I could wear an 8 in somethings, but was mostly in 10's.

08-09-2009, 01:50 AM
i'm 5'8 and at 204 pounds I'm still wearing a size 18! = P ...i've never been lower than size 16/18 since I was 15 years old so I have no recollection of what sizes I wore. I'm pushing hard now to get past that (I haven't been consistently under 199 since I was 14 years old) so I am trying to finally get past it. I just can't imagine myself smaller but I'm taking it one step at a time.

08-09-2009, 09:08 AM
This is an interesting post, because just the other day I remember when I weighed 140 and was a size 12 (and thought I was fat!). That was about 17 years ago.

Oh Lord, what I wouldn't give to weigh 140 and be that "fat" again!

Today I'm 199.5 and wear size 1x and up. I notice my sizes vary greatly, since clothes are cut so differently from each other, so I don't even know what size I TRULY am.

08-09-2009, 12:45 PM
I'm 5-4 and a pinch. The last I remember, I was 180 and size 14/16 (i'm larger on the top than the bottom). I now wear an 18/20. I was thin in high school and still wore a 10/12, if I recall right, because I'm pretty curvy without the weight.

08-09-2009, 02:38 PM
Is everyone just one size? I'm currently around 160 lbs at 5' 7", and I've got pants (that fit) everywhere from size 10 to size 14. Tops are more similar: large/extra large. I don't wears skirts/dresses much, but I was a bridesmaid in July: dress size 16. I wasn't happy about that .

All through my adult life, from 126 lbs to 184 lbs, there's been a variety of different sizes in my closet that fit.

08-09-2009, 10:34 PM
I definitely wear several sizes, but usually one size seems to predominate.

08-10-2009, 10:46 AM
Well, I'm 5'2" and hourglass shaped, so currently I wear a 16 that is really baggy. I'm hoping that losing about 5-10 pounds will put me in a 14.

160 size 12
140 size 10
130 size 8
115 size 6

I was a size 3 in high school (really skinny - those were the days), and I weighed about 95 pounds. :o

08-10-2009, 11:20 AM
I've noticed it really depends on where you are shopping. Express does "vanity sizing" to make their shoppers feel good about themselves. I wear a size 4 at Express but everywhere else I range from a 6-10 in pants. (I am 5'3'')

08-13-2009, 02:06 AM
Wow what an interesting topic guys.

Currently 180 lbs. and I'm a size 13/14 generally, although I barely fit into Juniors XLs and I fit Misses or Womens L. Seems like the Juniors sizes are smaller. Here's my breakdown (as well as I can remember).

Height: 5' 8.5"

180 lbs. - 13/14
165 lbs. - 11/12
155 lbs. - 9/10
145 lbs. - 7/8

I haven't been 145 since High School, but I remember my senior prom dress was a size 6...and I remember being shocked it fit! I have a large bone structure too so even if I weighed less I probably wouldn't go any lower than a size 6. My hips aren't going to shrink!

Thighs Be Gone
08-13-2009, 02:14 AM
When I started I was a size 18 I was 215. When I got down to 200, I was a 16 and seemed to stay there forever. 180 I think put me into a 14. I hit a size 12 at 170.

The more you lose, the quicker the sizes go down for certain. I am in a very comfortable size 4 now.

03-30-2010, 03:32 PM
212 - 16..
i'm 5'6

when im about 150-160 i was a size 10 or 9..

03-30-2010, 03:41 PM
I am 5'7"

was 225 - 18W
now 183 - 14 or 16

03-30-2010, 03:56 PM
I'm 5'3 148 lbs and I'm in size 5 jeans for the most part, sometimes a 7.

03-30-2010, 07:15 PM
before i got pregnant i was at 178 and in a size 10/12

i'm currently at 195 and in size 16 jeans and size L shirts.

03-30-2010, 07:23 PM
I'm almost 5'8 and I'm currently 280 and were a size 18, sometimes a size 20 depending on brand. When I was 220 I wore a 14 and when I was 180 I wore an 8-10 (but that was pre-pregnancies). I've had to c-sections since then so it will be interesting to see what I were this time as I go down in pounds. Good luck with your goals everyone!!!

03-30-2010, 07:33 PM
Back when I weighed 145 I was a size 8 my sophmore year of high school when I weighed about 165 I was a size 9/10 and at 175 I was a size 12 My junior year of high school I was a size 13/14 at 185 and have been that size for a while now. I am 5'3 but sometimes I tell the truth and I am 5'2
