my new diet is going to be simple:

EDIT:

my new eating programe, basically follows Paul Mckenna's 4 golden rules.

4 GOLDEN RULES

1. When You Are Hungry, Eat

2. Eat What You Want, Not What You Think You Should

3. Eat Consciously And Enjoy Every Mouthful (eat SLOWLY, no T.V)

4. When You Think You Are Full, Stop Eating

And checking if i am really hungry by drinking a glass of water. as 75% of the time, you might be thirsty and not hungry.

And also constantly monitoring my hunger level, by checking the hunger scale. avoiding the red zone of the hunger scale!

http://www.starling-fitness.com/wp-content/uploads/thehungerscale_1.JPG

Also my plan includes the gabriel method, and a little bit of south beach thrown in :)

Also exercising everyday, no matter what it is or however short.

i think that is a great idea. and i, like you, looked for an accountability thread. working out isnt my problem, but being accountable for what i eat is.

We used to have a food planning thread for everyday back in '06 -'07. I fell off the wagon then so I don't know what happened to it... but it's great to see it start back up. I'll join!

Today:

Breffix - 2 slices whole grain wheat bread, sundried tomatoes, sprinkling of feta cheese and chopped up basil. Toasted.

Lunch - 1 cup (cooked) white rice, spiced roasted potatoes, 1/2 cup plain yogurt.

Snack - 1 bag popcorn (100 cal snack bags), bunch of grapes (yum!), handful of toasted pita chips

Dinner - Noodles with plenty of veggies - bell peppers, bean sprouts, carrots, green onions, mushrooms and garlic/ginger.

Hmmm... I feel like I overdid the snacks today... something to work on for tomorrow. :)

do you track your food on something like Sparkpeople, fitday, dailyplate? to make sure you're getting enough calories, fiber, protein, fat, etc? that might help in addition to a thread here.

Echo
08-07-2009, 08:11 AM
calbrear2001 well done! :cheer2:on your healthy eating there and good workout! i love cool whip, we dont get it in the UK i dont think. i love family guy's joke about stewie saying cool whip.

sexyinNC well done on your diet and exercise!! :cheer3:

kiahna23 - oh yum i love tacos hehe. :dance:i know what you mean, working out can make you very hungry. after my workout, i'm a hungry monster. so what i personally do is have some fruit. i like peaches and plums :)

hey jhonny, :welcome3: erm i'm not sure what food groups are best. but i can tell you what i am personally doing at the moment.

i am avoiding all bread, wheat products, junk food, anything processed, sodas etc.

every meal consists of steamed vegetables, lentils, and protein (in the form of either chicken, fish or lamb, or eggs), and salad.

for snacks in between meals, i eat fruit.

but once i week, i'm allowed a "cheat day" where I can eat carbs that i am craving. like bread hehe.

everyday i exercise. either walking/jogging, or trampolining, or squats with hand held weights.

i hope that helps. and good luck and join us! there is alot of information on this site, i am sure you will be able to find a diet that you personally like and can comfortably follow.

and I am sure someone will be able to give you a better answer...:book2:

Sunnigummi
08-07-2009, 09:54 AM
Echo, I like your plan! Sounds similar to mine, except I don't have a cheat day for carbs. I eat whole wheat/12 grain stuff, so I allow for 1-2 slices everyday just so I don't crave carbs. I'm a carbaholic.

Onto the meal plan!

Breffix - 2 slices 12 grain bread with sundried tomatoes, sprinkling of feta cheese and rosemary sprigs. Toasted.

Lunch - whole grain pasta (Barilla Plus), lo-fat & homemade (with skim milk) alfredo sauce, onions, sundried tomatoes.

Snack - pear or watermelon

Dinner - Same as last night. 1 cup cooked white rice with 1 chicken leg + curry and roasted/spiced bell peppers and potatoes :)

Exercise:

1 hour dancing
1 hour tennis/walk with hubby

great stuff Sunnigummi! :cheer2:

and i am a carbs-aholic too!! hehe
--

here's my confession so far today:

pre-exercise snack: 6 cherries. 1 peach. 1 plum. water

exercise: jumping and dancing on my trampoline 17minutes :trampo:

late lunch: big bowl of yellow daal. onion and tomato salad. cucumber, carrots. 2 fried eggs in a little bit of olive oil.

dessert : 2 tablespoons of peanut butter. 8 cashews (oops i feel abit guilty i think i over did it on the peanut butter! i just had a craving for it! so i went with it)

I just ordered The Gabriel Method on amazon, i cant wait to start reading it. i'm reading the first chapter at the moment. i've heard great things about it. but i'm abit skeptical at the moment with the whole mind over body thing, seems like alot of work! but will give it a go! have just downloaded the free tracks by visiting his site.

if i get hungry later on in the evening, i will have a big bowl of yellow daal. i really like it :-)

Sunnigummi

Mmmmmm Peanut butter... I can't have it in the house because I can't control myself. I once bought a small jar, the smallest available and I thought to myself "it's small so I will realize how much I'm eating before it's too late." Nope. Didn't happen. Ate the whole jar in two days. Sigh to me. It's pure torture going to Costco where they sell economy sized jars of PB and TWO in a pack. I always stretch out my hands and go "nom nom nom" and my husband has to pull me into a different aisle. :p

well i think my overindulgence in peanut butter, has kept me satiated! i'm not hungry and so i'm calling it a day. the kitchen is closed for the night!

i just had a peppermint tea, and will just be drinking water.

going to play tennis tommorow, so going to go to bed at midnight. and listen to the audio track of the Gabriel method, see if it hypnotises me to becoming thin hehehe :dizzy:
just burning it onto cd at the moment.

jhonny -- as for foods to eat, there have been a ton of studies about eating high fiber foods and foods with monounsaturated fats (unsalted nuts, avocado, olive oil) to lose weight. I found that oatmeal is a great snack and super filling. I always get the plain instant packs that are 100 cal and then sweeten them with a bit of honey and some berries.

I also love drinking smoothies made with yogurt, berries, and whey protein powder. they taste delicious and when you blend the smoothie longer and with a bit of ice it gets thicker...therebye filling you up more.

Hope that helps!

well done calbear2011, wow 4.75miles run is very impressive. :cheer:

lol SexyInNC! glad you had a good time, and no harm in partying once a blue moon! life isnt all about dieting!

my confession:

today’s weight = 169.2lbs - lost 0.6lbs from yesterday. total weight loss = 4.2lbs. no doubt this is probably just all water, but makes me feel good nonetheless! so i'm taking it ! muwahahhahaha

exercise - played tennis for 2 hours.

breakfast - 1 banana.

post workout snack: 1 peach, 2 apricots.

late afternoon dinner - 2 chicken kebabs. half a bowl of yellow Daal (lentil soup) and cooked vegetables in italian herbs (carrots, brocoli and green beans), raw carrots, cucumber, abit of low fat yoghurt.

dessert - about 1/4 cup of mango juice (from a carton) that i poured into a small bowl, and treated it like some sort of dessert that i had with a spoon! hehe.

evening snack - half a bowl of yellow daal. and then a glass of mango juice. (was craving something sweet).

and that’s me done for today!

My exercise/food confessions:

Yesterday was bad. I had homemade alfredo sauce with skim milk, 1 tbsp of butter and 1 tbsp of flour as the roux. I was thinking about this morning and realized I could've just subbed the butter and flour for 1 tbsp of cornstarch (corn flour) to thicken the sauce. Oh well. Learned my lesson for next time. I calculated the calories (I ate WAY too much pasta - I miss my alfredo sauce!) and it came out to um *gulp* 1100 calories. Plus everything else I had for the day and I had shot up to 2300-ish calories. That's what I used to eat and even then I knew it was too much. Blah. So today, here's my make-up-for-it plan...

Breffix: 1/4 watermelon

Lunch: 2 rotis, veggie curry, 2-3 tbsps of an Israeli couscous salad (yum!)
Dessert: 1 slice 12 grain bread with 1 tbsp strawberry jam

Snack: Handful of toasted pita chips

Dinner: Homemade pizza. Just made the dough and am waiting for it to rise. Yum, I can't wait! I'm going to add rosemary and some sundried tomatoes to the dough and see how it turns out... :D

Exercise: Because I felt so guilty from yesterday, I went for a 3-mile walk this morning. I jogged about 0.6 miles according to my pedometer. I walked the rest of it and I feel good now. Later this evening, am going to play tennis.

Echo- you played for 2 hours? You must be muscular or have good stamina. I can barely play for 1! I usually give up around 45 minutes. :p

SexyinNC - Hey fellow NC'er! I'm going to echo Echo's (ha!) statement and say that once in a while partying is good for the soul. :)

Echo
08-08-2009, 05:29 PM
hey Sunnigummi!

wow that alfredo sauce does sound yum. no harm in the odd indulgence from time to time ;)

sounds like a great plan for today. and wow rosemary and sundried tomatoes in the dough sounds lovely!!

well done on the walk/running :cheer: that is really impressive!! :cheer2:

haha thanks, but i'm soooo unfit! and not muscular at all! the first hour, it was mainly coaching and all these drills, i tell ya, i was getting very knackered and out of breath! haha then the following hour it was mostly doubles. i did play one singles game. i was so tired, that when i went to get the ball from the back of the court, i was walking slowly as my legs were hurting haha and the girl i was playing against said jovially "Come on Echo! get the ball " or something to that effect. she meant it in a jokey sort of encouraging way. probably got impatient waiting for me to retrieve it for i was serving. but i walked to get the ball instead of jogging, cause i needed a time out to rest! haha as i was running around alot during the game.

i did feel really bad about it. i felt abit hurt. and then cursed myself for not jogging to get the ball. i guess i felt abit embarrassed aswell. it was such a tiny comment, i'm way too sensitive. and then was thinking wish i was fitter... and thought from now on no matter what, will jog to get the ball when i'm serving, no matter how tired i am or my legs are hurting. but i know i shouldnt be so sensitive. thats my problem! too senstive, take everything to heart.

but it was a beautiful day. and i got some nice compliments for some of my shots from other people and the coach. so i was pleased about that!

anyways sorry for the off topic confession there! haha

lol at echo's echo's statement hahaha

Sunnigummi
08-08-2009, 05:40 PM
All that about being sensitive sounds just like me. I'm sensitive too, more than I should be. When I tell my friends about something that bothers me, some of them usually go "man you're sensitive! Who cares?" Yeah, who cares, well *I* do. I think it depends on the tone it's said in, you know? Sometimes, the same thing can sound so different to me just based on the tone used. Blah. I'm trying to get over it, but it's really hard. I do know how you feel though -.

Yeah, the sauce was good, but I don't think I'll be trying that for another month or so. I give myself an indulgence once a month so I don't go crazy. :P I LOVE cooking and making homemade stuff, so I get so psyched about new/faves I make. Hehe. I can't decide if loving cooking is a blessing or a curse with this new lifestyle. On one hand, I can't wait to try low-fat/no-fat alternatives, but on the other hand I just want to use a stick of butter.

Hm, guess I ranted too. :P

Echo
08-08-2009, 05:47 PM
Aww thanks Sunnigummi. that really makes me feel better! :) you're so sweet! i appreciate it. feel better already!

there's a podcast i've been meaning to listen to, its about "dont take things personally!" lol i must listen to it and start implementing the techniques. if you're interested, i can dig out the title of it , you can search for it on itunes.

i love cooking too!! :-)

my weight, is the same as yesterday, no gain. which is good. 169.2lbs.

my food confession:

Hey Echo - sounds like you had a good day!

Here's the rundown for my day:

Had breffix - 2 medium eggs + leftover veggie toppings from last night's pizza. 2 slices of 12grain toast. 1 cup skim milk + 1 tbsp cocoa powder.

Lunch -ate out, 'cause we were going to the mall. Had a falafel sandwich with tabouli salad and pasta salad as sides. The servings were not big at all, so I was happy. The sandwich was only half a pita with fairly small falafels, so I was happy with that too.

Snack - we had sno-cones at the mall. We walked 3.5 miles!!! (I wore my pedometer)

Dinner - flattened rice with diced roasted potatoes and onions. Yum. And er...3 squares of cadbury's fruit n' nut chocky. ;)

Dang, I ate a lot today. Blurg. Oh well, going for a run/walk tomorrow morning followed by some tennis in the evening, so hopefully I'll make up for today's caloric excess.

ooooooooooooopsy i've been naughty today! i got bitten by the carb hungry monster! lol

my confession for today (its only 8pm, but the kitchen is closed for me now!)..

exercise - 18 minutes on the trampoline :trampo:

breakfast - 1 peach.

lunch - 1 wholewheat pita naan. a bowl of stir fried mince lamb meat (no added oil). half a bowl of yellow lentil (daal). salad. some vegetables.

dinner - 1 wholewheat pita bread. 1 slice of bread (white/brown) and another bowl of stir fried mince lamb. and tiny bit of cheese, a little bit of low fat mayo and tiny bit of salad. (i made 1/4 tiny sandwhich lol)

ooopsy i over did it on the carbs!! i cant help it. its the mince lamb. i love mince lamb! and i have to have it with naan or bread.. its my kryptonite. hehehe

BUT i did resist not eating 3 hershey kisses. they are sitting in my drawer, i took them out of the fridge. but i then ate 8 almonds and 4 cashew nuts, and didnt eat the kisses.

thats me done today.

today's weight - 168.2lbs (lost 1lb from yesterday and by todays carb overload, no doubt will gain it back again or more so tommorow!) but will think positively like Gabriel would say. and will my body to burn it away!!! and to visualise my thin body hehe

--

oh no! so much for my "the kitchen is now closed" which the greedy monster inside of me completely ignored ! Lol. i just gobbled up some mince lamb curry that my mom just made, with half a roti.

okay i will treat today as my "cheat" day. lol

will do better tommorow! no carbs tommorow!

Sunnigummi
08-10-2009, 07:20 PM
Mmm curry. I don't eat lamb, but man that sounds good...

Here's my day:

Breffix - 1 cup skim milk with 1 tbsp cocoa powder
2 slices 12-grain bread, teeny tiny shavings of butter that I ended up not tasting.

Lunch - 1 cup Israeli couscous (prepared, bought from Costco) with olives, baby corn, tomatoes, parsley, and some kind of olive oil/vinegar dressing
toasted pita chips

Snack - 100 cal popcorn bag

Dinner - homemade pasta and veggies. Whole wheat/multigrain? penne pasta with onions, sundried tomatoes, broccoli and garlic. Side dish: Shredded, roasted brussel sprouts with garlic.

Snack/Dessert - 2 cups of seedless grapes.

I'm trying to keep my calories to 1800 ish, but no matter what I do it ends up creeping into the high 1900s. I can't cut down a lot because I get really hungry otherwise and that leads to binge-ing. I need to add some more veggies and fruits into my diet so that I feel full.

Exercise - 2 mile (hoping for 2.5) walk with hubby. :)

I'm getting my 30 Day Shred DVD in the mail soon (Netflix). I can't wait!! :D

Calbear - woohoo!! Running 4.6 miles, wow! I'm just getting back into running and I've only done 0.6 miles so far. I'm hoping to get a mile down in another week. :)

Sunni - i PM'd you the link of that podcast.

--

my confession so far today:

today's weight = 170.2lbs (gained 2 lbs from yesterday. total weight loss from day 1 (7 days ago) = 3.2lbs).

i measured my waist also.

i found this formula on the internet, this doc was describing how your waist should be no more than half your height.
i'm 5 foot 7. which is 68 inches. divide that by 2 = 34 inches. therefore my waist should be no more than 34 inches.
at the moment my waist (measured around my belly button - ) is 37 inches.

so in addition to weighing myself, am also going to measure my waist on a weekly basis, to see how i am doing.
----

i woke up late today. must have been the carb overload yesterday! made me feel sluggish in the morning. so i overslept.

i did 19 minutes on the trampoline :trampo: so that was good.
i'm finding it easier to exercise first thing now, before i used to struggle, and procrastinate! cause i felt so tired in the morning, no matter how long i slept. so i'm already seeing a difference. which is good.

breakfast - 2 small plums.

lunch: bowl of yellow lentil soup. some veg, salad.

dessert : 1/4 cup of honey nut cornflakes with semi skimmed milk.
(initially i had weighed out 30 grams of the cornflakes, but then realised i just really wanted a few bites, so just put a little bit of it in this small tiny bowl lol).

then i wanted some something savory haha. so i had two small chicken leg pieces with a little bit of low fat yoghurt.
--

will update on my dinner...

tommorow i wont be dieting or exercising, as i'm heading into town and treating myself! meeting a friend for lunch, then watching a film at the cinema (the ugly truth) and then studying at the library and then meeting some friends for dinner at a spanish tapas restaurant. so will be taking a day off! hehe. but back on the exercise and diet on thursday! :-)

Got the podcast title! Thanks! :)

That's interesting about the waist. I calculated mine - it's supposed to be 32.5 and I'm 34.5 so I have 2 inches to go. That makes me wonder...what about really tall people? So someone who's 6 ft tall can have a waist of 36 inches? I read that anything above 35 predisposes someone to heart problems and diabetes. I would take that calculation with a grain of salt. Works fine for your height, as long as it's under 35 inches. Oh well, gives one a goal, right? :)

Exercise/diet:

I feel much better since I dropped to 164.9 (I know it's not REALLY 164, but I'll take what I can get!). I had cut down on my exercise and food. I was actually proud of myself yesterday for accounting for every bite I ate. Really opened my eyes. Today, am doing the same and hoping to play some tennis or get a good jog in this evening. I'm curious to see what the scale shows tomorrow...

Have fun on your day off, Echo! See you in a couple of days! :D

okay have decided to skip dinner today! and just drink water for the rest of the night.

my parents having a dinner party with lots of yummy food which i am avoiding! normally i would have joined them and helped myself to a big plate of vegetable rice and yoghurt and curry! but since i'm taking the day off tommorow off my diet, i have to sacrifice today!!

so will be drinking water, and lurking around this site to keep me away from the food lol

i'm not hungry when i think about it anyways.

so far this evening have drunk 1.2litres.
gonna head to bed at midnight.
till then will study... :book2:

Not to sound like a mama bear Echo, but skipping meals might work against you (restrict-binge-restrict). How about nibbling on some carrots or sliced up bell peppers or celery? They have a teeny amount of calories (1 bag of baby carrots has about a 100 calories and trust me, you won't eat a bag) and will fill you up. Or if you're like me, your mouth will get tired from the chewing and you'll instantly feel full. Can you tell I'm not a fan of carrots? ;) However, if you're not hungry, I guess it doesn't matter that much. Good on you for getting all that water in! :carrot:

Gosh, I was feeling so uninspired for dinner until I saw the carton of veggie stock in the pantry. Made homemade soup! I calculated the calories for the entire recipe and it came out to 420 cals!! THE. WHOLE. THING. I just had an epiphany. :dizzy:

In case anybody out there is interested, here's the recipe:

1 carton Swanson veggie broth
5-6 small button mushrooms, sliced
1 large green onion, chopped
10 baby carrots, sliced
1 can chickpeas
1/2 tsp chili powder (optional)
2-3 cloves garlic
1 small onion, chopped
1 large sprig rosemary, finely minced
1 tbsp olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 tsp balsamic vinagrette
a pinch of cumin seeds

In a dutch oven or large, heavy-bottomed pot, heat 1 tbsp olive oil. Cook garlic and onions (green and white) until transparent. Add mushrooms and cook until slightly tender.

Add broth, balsamic vinagrette, cumin seeds, chilli powder, rosemary, chickpeas, carrots, salt and pepper. Keep at a low boil for 5 minutes, then simmer for 15-20 minutes or until carrots reach desired tenderness.

Serve with toasted pita chips or eat plain! :)

Total cals: 420
Servings: 4

wow sunni thanks for the recipe ! sounds delicious!! will definately be making that one day!
--

Sunni you were so right!!

so much for my water plan! it all went out the window. so my mom asked me to serve the dessert (ice cream and fresh mangoes)
i had a bite of ice cream (no biggie) quite a few bites of mango (no big deal)

BUT then! i thought hmm i will just have a little bit of rice and then it went downhill from there lol

i ended up having 2 smallish cups of rice with yoghurt. probably a few tablespoons of mince lamb curry. 1 chicken kebab. and 1/2 roti and a few bites of chick peas curry.

BUT i will add this - had i not been drinking water, i wouldn't have gotten so full so quickly and i was completely satisfied. normally i would have eaten alot more than what i just described up there! trust me!
i ate all that pretty quickly too but got full quickly too.
i had read that if you drink water 30 minutes before your meal, you will eat less, as water takes space in your stomach, about half the space. so less room for food!

sunni you're right not to skip meals. i'm so used to the warrior diet of just eating one big meal a day (at the end of the day after eating just fruit during the day) .that i feel guilty eating more than once a day! i have to change my mindset, smaller meals and i can have more than one meal a day lol.
--

thugz - apples and peanut butter - nice!

Sunnigummi
08-11-2009, 10:03 PM
Yeah, I've done that before. At the time, it made so much sense - just eat 2-3 BIG meals and nothing in between, just water. It's SOOO much harder in practice. I'm from the 3 meals a day school of thought so now I just have lighter cal meals and use the extra allotted calories for some nuts or raisins in between to keep me from bingeing. It did take me a whiles to realize that eating healthy foods in between meals is not as tough as I had mentally made it out to be. :)

All that water definitely helped, right? That amount of food didn't sound so bad to me. Plus, if you've only been eating fruit and small portions today, then that shouldn't be too bad a blip. Keep going! :D

As for me, I'm really hoping I see a change on the scale tomorrow. That would be freakin' AWESOME. Even if it goes down to 164.8 (today was 164.9), I'll smile all day. At least then I feel like this whole calorie-watching thing is working out. How frustrating to account for every single bite only to see nothing happen on the dang scale. Boo.

Here's my rundown:

Breffix - 1 cup skim milk with 1 tbsp cocoa powder
2 slices 12-grain bread

Lunch - Israeli couscous salad (yum!) 1/4 cup, toasted pita chips (~6), disgusting low-cal chicken pot pies. Note to self: NEVER, EVER make this disgusting low-cal dough again!!! It's flour with oil and salt. It doesn't turn a golden brown when baked and even after turning brown, the texture remains like flour. UGH. I've never felt so heavy after eating a few (I made 12 muffin pies) and I'm a carboholic! Gross gross gross.

Dinner - 2 cups of grapes
2 cups of watermelon
Hopefully it will flush out the crappy lunch I had

Exercise - 20 min tennis this morning (it started raining so we had to run back in) hopefully another hour this evening.

Lunch--big salad with lettuce, tomato, pepper, cucumber, basil, tuna, goat cheese, homemade balsamic dressing, a few whole wheat homemade croutons

Snack--1/2 whole wheat pita, 2 Tbs. hummus, sliced red pepper

Dinner--spicy chicken cous cous stew (about a cup, with butternut squash, peppers, green beans, carrots, onion, zucchini, spices, broth, chicken); 1/2 cup whole wheat cous cous

Liquid--Lots and lots of water, 1 cup coffee with 1 Tbs. lowfat 1/2 and 1/2

well done thugz :cheer:

---

well i got my period this morning! no wonder i've been sooooo cranky and a hungry monster!! so i had even more reason to take the day off from diet and just eat whatever i wanted lol.

my food confession, be warned not for the faint of heart ! hahaha.

hazelnut latte - half of which got spilled lol - 300 calories

5 cinamon sticks (cinabon) i reckon about 400 calories, i skipped the icing. but i was gutted that they were cold by the time i ate them :( but got it out of my system and wont be craving them anymore!!

pret tuna baguette mmmmmmmmm my favourite!! dont know what they put in that darn tuna mix its too yummy!! - 500 calories.

--
then big spanish tapas dinner.
3 and half pollo croquetas (love them! the best i had was in barcelona , but when i went to madrid unfortunately they only had jamon (ham) ones.
we had a nice waitress, and i practiced the few spanish words i could remember and she was from madrid too.

more tapas - 2 calamari, 2 deep fried prawns, 1 small deep fried white fish, one bread piece. 1 coke. 1 croquettas (mushroom)
pattas bravas (potatoes cubes). sourcream dip.

then dessert was a killer! we shared 3 chocolate desserts between us. i had one churros (non sweet donut dipped in chocolate, 1 strawberry dipped in chocolate. quite a few spoons of chocolate mouse, quite a few bites of thick solid chocolate orange tart)

so i'm gonna guess dinner probably amounted to 2000 calories ! maybe even more, but who knows!!

so total calories i reckon 3200 calories or so. maybe more!

bad carbs - baguette. deep fried stuff. latte, cinamon sticks, potato, chocolate desserts. coke., erm actually everything i ate!

no exercise, but walking around.
---
back to the diet tommorow! got cramps, so will skip exercise tommorow aswell and hopefully will feel better on friday.
---
i joined this website and started my diet properly last wednesday, so today was my official weigh in (weekly)

today's weight - 168.8lbs. (starting weight - 173.4lbs) lost 4.6lbs

lol i'm dreading what my weight is tommorow! probably gained all the weight back again! but doesnt matter. i will keep going !! :cheer2: besides if nothing else, the dieting and exercising i have done for the week was to balance out the blow out diet today! offset the extra pounds i would have gained. lol as long as i am not over 173lbs tommorow, i will be happy.

Woohoo Echo! Nice weight loss!:carrot: Sorry to hear you're crampy. When I used to get cramps, consistent exercise for one month would make them disappear. If that's isn't a motivation for exercise (for me), then I don't know what is! :p

I actually did make it to 164.8 today. I wasn't as happy as I thought I'd be. I think secretly I was hoping for a bigger drop. You must have read about my chicken pot pie disaster. Even thinking about them makes me feel nauseous (yes, it was THAT bad!). Anyway, my point is that I finally ate grapes and watermelon which made my caloric intake a little over 2000. I exercised and burned 230 more calories than I ate, which is cool but I'm finally not starving hungry like I was yesterday. I think I'll keep my calories at 1900 - 2000 and see where I go from there. I'm not into feeling hungry, for weight loss or anything. The weird thing is my caloric intake goes up when I add fruits. I LOVE fruits. I've read a lot of posts on here where people control the amount of fruit they have per day because of the calories but for some reason I can't wrap my mind around fruits being "unhealthy" enough to watch how much I eat of them. Sigh. Now I'm just rambling. Time to go to bed.

well good morning ladies!

i'm starting with a clean slate! much to my dismay my weighing scale is stupid! i realised today, that each time i step on it, it gives me a different weight!! within 5 seonds i can go from 165lbs to 172 lbs!! so i'm not using my digital weighing scale anymore. and gone back to the old fashioned manual weighing scale, at least that is consistent!!

so i've lost no weight whatsover this past week!

i'm starting from scratch from today onwards. Thursdays will now be my official weekly weigh in!

so my official weight today (week1) is 174lbs (79kg).
--

cause i'm on my period, i had this huge craving for meat (must be cause of the iron) so i forgo my diet temporarily, and ate 4 pieces of toast and mince lamb curry.
about 900 calories in total i reckon.
--

but cause of my big breakfast/lunch - i will try to eat healthily now for the rest of the day. snack on fruit etc. and try to stay away from disco crisps lol i love them and hershey chocolates - will stay away from them also! see if i my willpower is strong enough. will let you know if have managed to!!
actually if im really honest with myself, not even really craving chocolate. i had loads yesterday. and not really bothered about the disco crisps either. maybe cause i feel satieted from the mince lamb curry and toast. feeling quite sleepy. taken some asprin for the cramps. might take a little nap and take it easy for the rest of the day.

have a good day everyone!

Morning Echo! Sorry to hear you're not feeling good. Also, more sorries for your crappy scale. Don't you just hate that? Have you thought about investing in a good, digital scale? When I lived with my parents, they had an analog scale and the stupid needle would always jump back and forth from zero after you stepped on it. What the ****. Calibrating did nothing. So I asked my mom for this digi scale I had been eyeing as a present. My mom was more than happy to give me a scale, haha. It's the weight watchers one. I've heard Tanita brand scales are the best, but at $40 a pop, they're too expensive for me. Mine works great and it gives me the same weight when I step on it within 5 - 10 minutes. If you can afford it, definitely get a new scale. If nothing else, it removes doubt like "Did I REALLY lose 2 lbs, or could it have been 0.2 lbs but the scale's off?" JMHO. :)

Today's run: I liked yesterday's 2000 cal run so much, I think I'll do it today too! :)

Breffix - 1 cup skim milk, 1 tbsp cocoa powder, ran out of bread, so alt. breffix that came out to the same number of calories

Lunch - 1/2 cup couscous salad, 2 rotis, 1/2 cup chickpea curry

Snack - grapes/cherries/watermelon, 2 cups of whichever

Dinner - Hmmm, this is a tough one. I think I'll make fried rice from last night's rice leftovers. Ok, 1.5 cups of homemade fried rice.

I'll calculate calories later on today and adjust accordingly.

Exercise - Going for a walk/jog in a few hours, then doing Jillian Michael's Level 1 30DS. So excited!!! :D (I know, I'm lame).

according to my parents its a really good digital scale! its the salter digital scale. but i dont trust it anymore, keeps giving me different results everytime i step on it and the way i step on it. if i first press my heel i weigh less, as opposed to when i press on my toes - so i've given up

i've gone back to my analog one. cant afford a scale at the moment, maybe will get one later on. thanks for the advice! luckily the manual one is giving consistent results each time though. so will stick with that one for the time being.

well according to the gabriel method, i should chuck away my weighing scale for 6 months! lol i am still waiting for the book to arrive in the post :p i cant wait to read it!! i'm still listening to the cd every night. i end up falling asleep before the end of the session! haha

Echo - I re-read your post after I replied and read that your manual one is working fine. I was too lazy to go back and edit my post. :p I agree - as long as one scale works, stick to it!

Haven't heard of the Gabriel method, then again I don't follow diet plans. They seem unnecessarily complicated to me. Plus, I'm uh mentally lazy, I guess is a nice way of putting it. Too much thinking and I'm out. Haha. Actually, measuring is an excellent way of seeing weight loss. It's probably more accurate than a scale because you can lose a lot of water weight but not fat and your measurements wouldn't change. I combine them. When the scale's not moving (and I've been good to my plan), then I measure. When the measurements are not changing, I hop on the scale to see if there was a difference. Usually the former happens, not the latter. Hehe. :p Also, good for you with the fruits!! I love mangoes. :)

i just did 20 push ups against the wall!! i cant do push ups from the floor. so i found out you can do push ups against the wall for beginners!

i also made myself a excel graph sheet, to track my weights and measurements. gonna measure them everyday, not to see how well i am doing but just to see the overall trend :)

im feeling hungry now, going to snack on some fruit now yum yum

Ooohhh, I tracked my weight every morning on excel this time last year. It was fascinating. I also tracked other things like my period and days I overate (I color coded those dates). It was really cool to see the effects of something like overeating on my weight. If nothing else, it did give me some insight into my body. :D Now, I just use fitday and track it on there. They've seriously updated it since I last used it in '07. I put in my body measurements on there as well. They even have this mood/smiley thing that I mess with because I don't care much about my moods and their effect on weight gain, but it's funny to send the smiley on these emotional ups and downs. :p

don't worry Thugz!! today is another day!

i wouldnt be able to resist a great turkey sandwhich either hehe besides think of it as your day of spiking your calories. so your body is tricked into gearing its metabolism to high grade cause thinks food is plentiful!

Yeah Thugz, it's ok. One day off is just a blip in the whole scheme of things. How many calories are you giving yourself per day? This is a pain in the butt to do, but I measure out or do my best guesstimating the amount of the ingredients and then punch them in on fitday to get a good number. The only reason I suggest this is that there have been times where I thought I ate SOOO much and once I guesstimated and found the real number (this is with outside foods), it wasn't as bad as I thought. Or you could just move on and get back on plan today. ;)

well today has been a revelatation girls! a revelation to me!!

i heard about "i can make you thin" from one of the threads, and i was very intrigued, so i googled it. and i'm now a convert!!

i implemented the 4 golden rules. and it works , it really really works!

eating slowly and putting down your fork between chewing, and really being conscious of what you're eating, and not eating infront of the telly and being distracted. well blow me over, but i ended up only eating HALF of what i put on my plate, and that was still me being careful of not getting my usual BIG portions !

i'm feeling satisfied and full. not uncomfortable and not hungry.

i'm a happy bunny :cb:
--
and for the first time in years, i have had 3 meals in a day!!! but only half of what i would normally wolf down. i am such a fast eater, so was hard to slow it down, but i did it. and it really works.
--

my food confession.

breakfast: tuna salad.
1 tin of tuna can, 1 tablespoon of light mayo. squirt of mustard, lemon juice. salad - grated carrots, cucumber, chopped tomatoes, lettuce. lots of black pepper.

snack - 1 plum

lunch - a few bites of rice with abit of yoghurt. cucumber slices with yellow lentill soup (about 1/4 cup), a cup of chick peas curry. 1 small chicken piece.

dinner - a few bites of rice. 1 small chicken piece. cucumber slices with chick peas curry (half a cup).

i was blown away on how little i ate!!! i just couldnt believe it!

i've ordered the book ! and i have got the cd set aswell. and watched the first 3 episodes of the uk show.

its great!

exercise - its TOM and im heavy and crampy, so not doing cardio, or anything. but instead did 2 sets of 15 push ups against the wall. (30 in total).
--

and drank about 1.6l of water (need to drink more water!) and 3 cups of peppermint tea (1 cup after each meal).

also i read that you should stop eating 3 hours before you go to bed. so that whilst your sleeping you can be burning fat , instead of digesting your food.

hope you girls had a good day! see you tommorow :)

Oh boy, do I have to confess...

Yesterday:

breffix - semolina pancake, 1 cup skim milk, 1 tbsp cocoa powder

Lunch - leftover fried rice (1/2 cup) wrapped in an omelet. Hehehe.

Ok, here's where it got ridiculous. I just wanted cookies for some reason and I chose oatmeal raisin because I figured it was the healthiest I could make. Anyway, made 30 of them.

Snack - 1 100 cal popcorn bag, SIX oatmeal raisin cookies, 20 cherries, 1 banana

Dinner - 1/2 cup cooked white rice, 1 cup roasted bell peppers and potatoes, 1/2 cup potato curry.

I was only supposed to eat grapes and cherries for dinner to make up for the 6 cookies, but I smelled the two dishes I made and I just wanted them. SIGH. I accounted for the calories. I was up to 2K and some change. This morning my weight jumped to 165.4. I know it's all the carbs I had yesterday, but still I'm not happy. On top of that, it rained and it was really late by the time we had dinner, so we couldn't go out and exercise.

-------------
Today:

We're going to the beach today, so I'll be eating lunch and dinner out. Will try to control my portions. Actually, I WILL control my portions. Come on, I can do this.

Food:

Breffix - 1 cup skim milk, small semolina pancake.

Snack - 1 cookie

Lunch - 2 small slices chicken pesto pizza (I didn't finish both slices, so I'll say 1.5 honestly) + 1/2 spicy chicky sandwich (not a big sandwich - on the small side)

Snack - 1 cookie

Dinner - chinese food!!! I had maybe 1/2 cup fried rice, 1/2 cup schezuan (sp?) chicken, plus 1 cup mei fun. I hate mei fun. It's the blandest crap EVA.

Exercise: walk/run on the beach. Love the feeling of sand between my toes. :) I walked and ran on the beach. Didn't think it was much exercise at all, until I got to the ferry and my legs felt sore like they do when I workout at home. Was happy about that. Also, my butt cheeks were super itchy from the sea water and sand. WTH. I felt like I had a flea problem.

lol Sunni i love that devil laugh so funny!

i love oatmeal raisen cookies. yum yum.

aww the beach! nice ! i love the beach :)
i love the sand on my feet too!!! so nice!

hope your day went well today. as they say today is a brand new day, forget about what happened yesterday, it doesnt matter :)
----

well its day 2 of me following the 4 golden rules, and i feel GREAT!
this morning, i drank 1.6litres of water.

and then around 3pm, i ate. i was REALLY hungry. and in my mind i WANTED 2 fried eggs and like 3 pieces of toast!

but i said, no i will make 1 egg and 2 toast, and if im still hungry i can fry the 2nd egg.

so i made 1 egg, 2 toast.

i ate consciously. no tv. and i ate very slowly. so slowly infact that by the end of it my egg got cold hahaha. i savoured each bite, made sure it was completely mushy, before i swallowed. i took about 13 minutes to eat, i think. usually i would have eaten 2 eggs 3 toasts, in about 4 minutes or so. and STILL would want more!

but not this time.

after i ate 1 and half toast and the egg. i felt SATISFIED and i left half the toast. and did not want a 2nd egg. i then drank 1 cup of peppermint tea.

:)
----
and i'm very excited cause today the book - the gabriel method arrived in the post!! cant wait to read it :)

hope you girls have a good day! will update later on this evening.

okay my confession:

water - 2 litres.

lunch - 1 and half plain toast and 1 fried egg.

dinner - appetizer - 1 pear. it was scrumptious, bursting with sweet flavour.

dinner - 1/2 cup of cooked veggy rice. 1 tablespoon of chicken curry and 1 small chicken piece. 1/2 cup of chick peas curry. few leaves of iceberg lettuce. 1 tablespoon of yoghurt.

i ate slowly! took me 24 minutes to eat it. and i felt stuffed afterwards! near the end of my meal i drew a deep breath and i read on another thread - someone reported that you take a deep breath or sigh - that means your full. but i ignored it and carried on eating and a few minutes later realised i was stuffed. so next time will not ignore that deep breath !

2 cups of peppermint tea (1 after lunch, and 1 just now)

exercise - not much i'm afraid to report. i only did 30 wall pushups. (TOM) and a few minutes walk in the garden.

but tommorow i'm gonna do a proper workout, hoping to go for a run :woops:

goodnight! see you tommorow. i'm off to bed and to listen to the hypnotic cd:dizzy:

Hi Julia!! Welcome to our thread! :welcome2:

You all seem to being doing very well! I on the other hand.. i am not doing so well. I keep giving in:( Giving in to seconds and junk. Its hard! I will keep trying though. Any advice for temptation? THanks:P { Plus, work out tips?

Hi Hannahboo, welcome to you too! :welcome2: Giving in to those temptations does seem much easier in the beginning. This is what I do and it may not work for everyone, but it works for me. I started calorie counting and really monitoring my portion sizes. So far, I've dropped a couple of pounds in the past two weeks, which has made me happy and determined to keep the downward trend going. I also weigh myself daily to keep myself accountable for what I eat. I use Fitday to track my food and my exercise. It has a nifty program where you can see the caloric balance for the day (total calories in v. total calories out). As long as my calories out column is higher, I'm happy. This didn't start yesterday, it took time for me. It took me a few weeks to realize that just exercising and eating crap or large portions isn't going to make the weight go away. Like this morning, I don't have access to my breffix from home. So I'll have two slices of toast and because I love cake donuts, I'm going to have one ONLY if they have my fave cake donut (plain). After that I'm stopping. Previously, I would've eaten everything and then some. Like Echo, I eat really quickly too and would've no doubt eaten way beyond what I should eat. Try to substitute healthy, tasty versions of your favorite snacks. For instance, if you like potato chips, then substitute veggie chips instead. They still taste like chips, but they are made with natural veggie juices, so it's a step in the right direction. Make fries at home in the oven. There are plenty of lo-cal recipes out there. Start cooking at home to control the fat and calories. Start introducing more veggies into your diet, etc. You can do it!! We're here to support you!!:D

HannahBoo23 :welcome3: ! lovely for you to join us!! the more the merrier!!!

awww I know its hard when you start off, but slowly you will get there, keep getting back on the horse each day..

well i dont know what works for other people and dont know if this will work for you but i can tell you what i am doing at the moment, that's working for me.

I'm following Paul Mckenna's 4 golden rules (from the show and book - i can make you thin -i'm waiting for my copy to arrive in the post), and also reading about the gabriel method. at the moment i can eat whatever i want. but first i must be truly hungry. and not emotional hunger either. but physically hungry.

you can tell the difference between emotional hunger and physical hunger, because physical hunger, comes on gradually. but emotional hunger, is sudden, and is usually associated with feeling bad, bored, and you want to change your mood through food.

and he also gives these tips on how to stop cravings for bad food, that you just have no control over.. its a sequence of tapings, difficult to explain if you havent seen the show. but there might be a video on youtube maybe.

but bottom line is. i'm allowed to eat whatever i want. but first i check if im really hungry.. than i drink a glass of water, to make sure im not just thirsty. then if i AM hungry. i eat whatever i want. BUT here's the important thing, i eat VERY SLOWLY!! i chew each food until it dissapears!! the slower the better. but i do try to make half the meal "healthy" and half of what i want hehe.

by doing this. i've noticed i'm eating HALF of what i normally eat!

he also says that if you want to stop yourself from eating chocolate, imagine it being mixed in with something you really hate and find disgusting, and then throw in some hair in there, and it will make you not want to eat it lol. its actually really powerful stuff, so make sure you dont gag! i've found myself wanting to gag just by my imagination! so make sure you dont use it on something, you would like to eat now and then! lol

and another rule is, when you're full, STOP eating! you can tell when you're full, you will be more thirsty than hungry (So dont drink whilst your eating) or you will draw a deep breath, or sigh. it will take practice to listen to your stomach. so aim to feel satisfied or full. never stuffed or bloated.

i hope that helps.
the rules are:

4 GOLDEN RULES

1. When You Are Hungry, Eat

2. Eat What You Want, Not What You Think You Should

3. Eat Consciously And Enjoy Every Mouthful (eat SLOWLY, no T.V)

4. When You Think You Are Full, Stop Eating

(added on - if you're hungry, drink a glass of water, to check if you weren't just thirsty).

=====================

Juliastl27 - well done ! :cheer: :welcome3: that sounds like a very good day for you :Cheer:

my confession for yesterday. it was sunday and i was quite naughty  BUT i used the slow eating technique!

morning - 13 minutes of running (interval running/walking) and this time i was able to run for 1 minute at each interval, without pain in my shins, i was so happy! i couldn't believe it!! in the past, even running 45 seconds, i would get this hellish agony burning feeling in my shins, but not yesterday :) hope i am able to do it again next time i go running :)

after my run, i was craving a juicy sweet pear. so i ate half a pear, lol it took me 8 minutes to eat just half! and then half way through, i sighed, i drew a deep breath and realised i felt satisfied, and then just ate one more bite. and left the other half in the fridge.

i then had sunday roast lunch with the family - and ate slowly. usually i would be the first one done! luckily my family is being supportive and encouraging and also eating slowly with me! and they also have realised they are eating less.

i ate 1 and half chicken leg pieces (usually i would be able to eat 3-4!) half a small roast potato. 3 tablespoons of coleslaw. 3 garlic bread baguette pieces. they were so scrummy, i made the garlic butter myself. with fresh garlic, some butter, mixed in with olive oil, abit of magarine, and parsley and mixed herbs.

then i had dessert - half a mango with 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream. that too i ate slowly lol.

and then at family friends house, went over for tea. and had 2 small meat samosas. 1 pakora. and 1 glass of pepsi. and 1 small sweet thing.

when i got home, had a large glass of water. and that was that!

so i over indulged, in naughty foods yesterday, but thats okay, cause it was sunday lol. i relax abit on my diet on sundays :)

okay my tummy is rumbling and i've had a glass of water. i better eat something! and then will do some exercise hopefully later in the afternoon.

I need to :tantrum:.

Hubby planned this spontaneous beach weekend this...um...weekend. So we were gone Saturday and Sunday. I posted on how I thought I did a good job controlling my portions and only eating til I was full and watching how much I ate of everything. We only ate at mealtimes and we did walk on the beach on Sat. We walked in the aquarium on Sunday for a good 2 hours, so that counts, even if it was a stroll. BUT, I checked in on my weight this morning. OMG. It's up to 167.1. Now granted, I usually weigh before breffix and after going to the bathroom blah blah and this morning I weighed before going to the bathroom, but WHAT.THE.****. A month ago when we went with family, I ate really bad food and a lot of it and barely exercised, so I was not surprised to see a hike in my weight. But this time, I was being so careful!!! I hope it's water weight of some sort and just drops over the next few days. I'll have to go back to exercising twice in a day to get rid of it all. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

Ok, rant over. On to today.

Breffix - 1 cup skim milk, 1 tbsp cocoa powder, 2 slices 12-grain bread.

Snack - 1 cup grapes

Lunch - 1/2 cup cooked white rice, 1/4 serving roasting bell pepper potatoes, 1/4 serving potato curry

Snack - cherries

Dinner - Haven't decided yet...probably homemade noodles with veggies

Exercise: If it's not too sunny out, I'll go for a walk in the morning. If it is sunny, I'll stay indoors and do that Jillian Michaels vid. Evening - 45 mins - 1 hr of tennis.

Hi Cape! Do you make your bread in a breadmaker or the traditional way? I don't have a breadmaker but I would LOVE to make multigrain bread at home. Would you mind sharing the recipe with me? Pretty please? :D

So all's well in my little weight loss world today - I lost 3 lbs from yesterday, which makes me uber happy because it means all my hawkish portion controlling over the weekend was for something. I'm still a couple of lbs away from my lowest that I hit last week, but I'm more confident of getting back to it and plugging on.

Today's rundown:

Breffix - 1 cup skim milk, 1 tbsp cocoa powder, 2 slices 12-grain bread.

Snack - 1 banana or a bowl of grapes or some watermelon

Lunch - no idea. There are no onions, which I've found to be the base of most of my dishes so I'm in a soup, haha. :p There are some leftovers that I can snack on. I might make 2 rotis to go with them...

Snack - 1 banana or a bowl of grapes or some watermelon

Dinner - chicken biryani. I finally learned how to make it!! Whoot! :D

Exercise: 1 hour dancing and 1 hour of tennis or a walk this evening.

-------------
Chit-chat time! I saw a fun movie last night called Happy-Go-Lucky. It's from 2008 and if you have Netflix, its available on Instant Watch. I really liked it! My husband and I watch movies (he's into them) and so far every movie he's picked has left me depressed or in tears so this was his redemption (what can I say? I'm a happy person). :p I really liked it! I loved the lead character, she was so sweet. I also secretly wanted her wardrobe. Anyway, check it out!

Hey Echo! You're a movie buff too? Kewl. I heard about the Ugly Truth, but we've yet to see anything at the theater. Mostly because I said the next time I go I have to see Harry Potter and I got a :dz: response. This movie's got that HAGel chick in it. Don't like her, but I did hear about the chemistry between the two. There were even rumors that they were getting cozy () on set. I also love celebrity gossip. I obviously have no life. But yeah, sounds cute!! I'll have to catch it soon. :)

Dinner amendment - we're having homemade pizza. I'll do something else with the chicken I thawed.

Exercise - did light dancing for 1 hour, didn't sweat as much. Will be going for a walk tonight after we go grocery shopping. I need my onions!!

really? thats so interesting about what you said about their chemistry. hehe thats cool that i noticed it too! lol at celebrity gossip haha.

oooh i love pizza! yum yum!

dancing is great! i just did some aswell, as i had too much energy haha.

i love onions too.

okay my confession.

exercise - p90x - chest and back and AB ripper X.

snack - half a pear, 2 cherries , 1 apricot.

dinner - 1/2 cup of rice. 1/4 cup of brown lentil soup (daal). half a tomato. a little bit of cucumber and carrots. some yoghurt.
time taken to eat = 25 minutes.
feeling after meal = satisfied.
--

then after awhile. i had this burst of energy and felt compelled to get up and dance. so i danced in my room for 14 minutes, and worked up a sweat lol. i then did some stretches for my shins.

and now just drinking water.
drank about 1 and half litres today.

total number of steps taken according to my pedometer. that i have attached to me all day so far = 6248

Hi Ladies!... Thanks so much for the welcome and compliments Echo! lol the cookies are really good.. was kind of an experiment baking experience, lol , they are like a drop cookie and super healthy. And yes I am not much of a soda/pop drinker at all, but I really like my cranberry juice with a splash of 7-up.. just that lil something extra and i think i am having something bad but i am not lol haha.
And Sunni...I am so sorry to disappoint, but I do not make my own homemade bread, I get it from the local Bakery.. I will only eat homemade breads..but do not sadly bake the bread on my own... one day will give it a go maybe lol.

So here is today's run down...

Breakfast - Carnation Instant Breakfast Shake

Snack - Fruit Salad (grapes, mangoes, watermelon and pineapple)

Lunch - Meal Replacement Shake

Snack - Wildberry Yogurt with small amount of Harvest Crunch

Supper - Baked Homemade Sweet Potatoe Fries (cut sweet potatoes into thin strips sprayed with EVOO Spray and spinkled with sea salt), Chicken and Multigrain Bun. Cranberry & 7 to drink

Only drank half liter of water today.. which was not good as it was very hot here today.. am going to have to try to get some more in this evening.

Later on I am planning to have a "lil treat" while watching Big Brother.. lol ethier 100 cal bag of lays reg. potatoe chips or a 1/2c. of key lime sherbet..but if I do not feel hungry I will not have anything.. I hope.. lol

I think aside from the lack of water I did pretty good today...

That's ok, Cape. I forgive you...this time. ;) Hehe. :D

Echo - my Vegas trip is mid-Sept. I'm revising my goal of 155 to 160. It's coming off so slowly, might as well change goals and not get depressed as I am prone to do. :) Yay on the dancing! It's fun, isn't it? That's my fave exercise besides tennis.

You MUST read the last book, then we can discuss. Actually, I've kinda forgotten most of the details, I read it when it first came out. That's the advantage of having an older sis who's also crazy about it and has extra cash. Hee hee. :D I also read the books well before the movies came out. They're hit or miss I think. I really liked the special FX, but sometimes their interpretation of a character was off from what I imagined him/her to be. Like Hermoine. In the book, she's mousy and has buck teeth, but in the movie, she's beautiful. Go figure. They can't cast an unattractive actress in a movie, or she won't be a "star". Gotta love that h-wood mentality. *eyeroll*

Food for today:

Breffix - 1 cup skim milk, 1 tbsp cocoa powder, 2 slices 12-grain bread

Snack - 1 banana

Lunch - Um, dunno. 1 roti with leftover curry.

Snack - watermelon

Dinner - Chicken biryani.

Exercise for today:

1 hour of dancing, or Jillian Michael's vid. HAVE to go exercise tonight. Didn't go last night because hubby was concerned about my bite that became a red swelling. I hate bugs, and I got bitten quite a few times over the last two days (beach bugs). The one on my calf was itching like crazy and like a fool I scratched it a lot so I guess that's what made it become all big and red. Boo. I hope it goes away quickly.

Have a good day, ladies!!

Hi all

Today is staring off great so far!

Breakfast - protein shake made with 1% milk
Lunch will be 2 egg whites on whole wheat with a slice of low fat cheese and some wilted spinach
Dinner will be roasted skinless chicken and veggies with a low fat spinach cream sauce
If I have a snack it'll probably be a 100 calorie microwave popcorn since I've been thinking about popcorn for the past few days! lol

Today I went to the gym for the first time. I warmed up with 10 minutes on the elliptical and then did 30 minutes of weights and then finished with another 15 minutes on the treadmill. My muscles are feeling a little jellyish but I feel good!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Echo - you're really doing P90X? Good for you! I saw an infomercial for it a long time ago, and it looked brutal. I would want to do it, but I know the kind of person that I am. I'll do it until it shows results and then when something happens that I can't do it, I'll completely forget about it and go back to walking/jogging/tennis/dancing, etc. Blah. Sounds like you get a good burn though. Woohoo! :)

Mmm...parathas. I need to learn how to make those. I love alu parathas, but they're a no-no for now. I can't WAIT for Vegas! We've planned out our itinerary and it looks so fun! We're also visiting a couple of buffets just because that's part of the Vegas experience although my husband gets nauseated when he sees large amounts of food in front of him (wish I had that problem, I just salivate ;)), so it's a good thing I practiced my portion control this past weekend.

Bombe - nice meal plan! I'm going to try doing that for the next week. I think if I know exactly what I'm making for dinner and lunch each night, then I can be better prepared to balance the calories. I'm also going to try calorie cycling too. It worked a couple of weeks ago, so I think I'll try it.

I was bad today. And it's only 1 PM! I ate breffix, didn't have milk, and ate a LOT of veggie straws. It's a chip of sorts - pic included. BLAH. We got them for a discount and they're irresistible!! :( I guess I have to learn to control myself. I'm having fruit for lunch. We have yummy watermelon and grapes. There are also pears that I've forgotten about so I'll eat those too. At least I'll get my fruit servings in for the day. Tonight - biryani!! :D Gotta save up my calories for that, hehe.

Exercise - still have to do my dance-a-thon, but I will.

chit chat:

I saw this really cool avator from one of the members here. and I pm'd her, and she told me about this site, where you can make a virtual you!

input your current weight and then your goal weight, and it makes a model of you. you can change the hairstyle etc.

i read that its a good idea to imagine what your body will look like. its sort of giving your brain a blue print to work on. according to the gabriel method and paul mckenna everyday i have to imagine a slimmer version of me. so i usually picture myself slimmer on a private beach, where it's just me , running around in my slim body hehe).

so i just made my virtual weight loss model! hehehe

i made two.
this one is current versus goal. (although i wish my body looked as good as my model does at my weight/height hahah).

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3502/3836685587_70987413da_o.jpg

i then did another one for fun, which is what my model looks like currently in this cute little outfit. i am going to update this model's clothes for everytime i lose 2 pounds :) just for fun! hehehe

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3526/3837450382_e5c97e9297_o.jpg

if you want to make your own model, the website is:

http://mvm.com/cs/

and i then print screened it , pasted it onto photoshop, cropped it, and then uploaded it to flickr. i know its a long process.

exercise = p90x : 35 minutes of plyometrics. and cool down and stretches and shin stretches.

Hey Cape! I learn so much from this board. I had the naive impression that all states/countries up north from me would be having much cooler weather, but apparently that's not the case! I would never have thought that NS would be hot (my idea of hot is 90+F) this time of year. Hubby and I want to visit NS and other parts of Canada by this time next year. Beautiful area you live in!!

Chit chat time: because I've confessed enough for today. :p Lessee. Hmm. I realize that I'm probably the sweatiest person that ever lived. Any kind of exercise no matter how strenous or easy will cause me to sweat. Not just sweat like have tiny droplets here and there. Nope, full out drenched sweat. It makes me feel fat for some reason. What's worse is that I used to think it was because of my weight and when I dropped it a few years ago, I *still* sweat as much. Today, I asked hubby if his parents sweat a lot and they don't (he doesn't). I thought about it and my parents do. Neither are overweight. So I'm destined to be a sweat-er. Not the wooly kind. Hehe. Wow, that was boring chit chat. I'm also really annoyed about this message I received a few days ago. I'm trying not to let things get to me and it still is, strangely enough. Grrr. Sorry for rambling - it's a personality trait. :D 'Night all.

Awww Echo, that's sweet of you! I'm sure I'll take you up on your PM offer one of these days. This woman is a pest and I don't like her, but I'm polite so I guess she's too dense to catch on. She's what's known as a frenemy - someone who is a friend and an enemy at the same time. She always uses these overly-friendly terms (babes, honey, etc) when she wants something. Otherwise, she's catty. It was the "friendly" kind of message that pissed me off the other day. I really need to learn how to let go. I need to listen to that podcast again. :p

Happening - wowza, congrats on all that weight loss! :D Hope to be there someday. :)

Ok, diet & exercise confessions for today... I was actually proud of myself for not eating myself out of house and home, so yay!

breffix - 1 medium egg scrambled with a dash of soy sauce.

Snack - veggie straws. Hehehe.

Lunch - 5 spinach and mozzie raviolis, 1/2 cup biryani, 1 chicken leg

Snack - 1 banana, 1/2 100 cal bag of popcorn, 1 oatmeal raisin cookie

Dinner - 1/2 cup cooked white rice, 1/2 cup Indian-vegetable-I-don't-know-the-English-name-for curry, 1/2 cup plain NF yogurt. This was the yummiest meal I had today, strangely enough. I think it reminded me of my mom's cooking, which I miss.

So far so good for me today - protein shake for breakfast before I went to the gym, there I did 35 minutes cardio, came home and for lunch it's a veggie bowl. Not sure what dinner is going to be, I don't have time to cook anything to bring to work (I work second shift so my dinner is at work) so I'll either grab a frozen lean cuisine and make a small salad to go with it or I'll have to find something semi-healthy that I can go out and pick up on my dinner break. I'm kind of tired of the lean cuisine/salad option because I've already done that 2 (or maybe 3) times this week. I need to get off my butt and start cooking myself some fresh food!!!

Well its friday today. so it's been exactly 1 week today, that i started my new eating plan (Paul Mckenna's 4 golden rules). I know you're not meant to weigh yourself, but i love doing it, so i've been tracking my weight all week.
Last friday I was 173lbs, and today I am 169lbs. (last thursday i realised my digital scales were totally wrong and were giving me random numbers each time i stepped on it, so went to manual scales and to my horror realised i had not lose any weight - so started again at 174lbs)

I just finished my periods a few days ago, so most of the loss is probably just water weight, but i am taking it regardless lol

I do feel lighter, and my clothes feel a teeny tiny bit looser. not much. but i do feel a difference in my body, i feel like i have more energy. and i dont feel like i am on a diet.

i'm very happy with this new eating programe :)

Thanks girls for joining in on this thread, its really helped me!! you all are so inspiring and motivating !

Good job on the weight loss Echo!! I *just* got back to 163 (it was 163.1 last week, this AM it's 163.9 but whatever I'll take it!). It took me 1.5 weeks to recover from the weekend. Sighage. I'll take comfort in the fact that my veggie straw binge didn't throw me off too much. :p My diet has been going well calorie-wise today, but not food group wise. I used to eat healthier last week. Here's the rundown for today:

Breffix - veggie straws

Snack - 1 pear

Lunch - 1 healthy choice chicken marinara meal. I only used 1 tsp of the sauce that comes with it and I removed the cheese. I also followed Echo's plan and ate slowly. Annnnddddd I'm full!! I was also planning on boiling up some ravioli but I won't now. :) I feel good that I managed to control my portions.

Snack - grapes/watermelon/pear

Dinner - veggie stir fry with chinese noodles. Usually, I make way more noodles than the veggies call for, so this time I will cut my portion of noodles in half and pile on the veggies. Also, I'll eat slowly. :)

Exercise - cleaning the apt today. That always makes me break out in a sweat. :p Then tonight, will be going to either play tennis or go for a walk.

Tomorrow I'm meeting up with one of my good friends so I'm excited about that! We're going to have lunch and I've made up my mind to eat slowly and not to finish everything on my plate. :)

I can't tell you how much I relate to this. Carbs are my downfall and I just balloon if I over-do it, which is very easy. I'm trying to take it slow and incorporate more veggies and fruits into my diet and say no to the carbs as much as possible. I get upset when I see a lb increase and I have been on plan. Boo to weight loss.

Keep your chin up!! I always have to give myself a talking-to when I'm on the verge of giving up.

----
update to earlier post:

I ended up having my 5 ravioli anyway because I was hungry 2 hours after my frozen meal. I ate that slowly though, took me 20 minutes. I was full after. I need to clean, shower & wash my hair, and then get started on dinner, so I shouldnt' be eating anything else until later tonight. :)

I've been such a lazy bum lately! I can't believe it's nearly 3 and I haven't even started cleaning the place. I used to start at 11 and end at 1 and have the rest of the day to myself and now look at me. Being a lump. Grrr! Ok, that's it. I'm leaving and I'm not logging back until I have finished my chores for today!!

Have a good day all!

update to earlier post:

I ended up having my 5 ravioli anyway because I was hungry 2 hours after my frozen meal. I ate that slowly though, took me 20 minutes. I was full after. I need to clean, shower & wash my hair, and then get started on dinner, so I shouldnt' be eating anything else until later tonight. :)

if you go by technique of only eating when you're hungry, eating slowly and then stopping when you are comfortably full and satisfied, dont be suprised if you are hungry 3 hours later! i find i am eating less per meal, but i get hungry after 3 hours and then i eat again! :dizzy:

and i love carbs too!! :p if left to my own devises thats all i would eat hahaha but like you trying to incorporate more salads, and veg and fruit, and occassionaly treating myself to carbs, when i am really craving it

Aw, thanks guys. I have a ways to go, and today I've gained another pound, Lord this is so hard and discouraging!
I just know when I go overboard on carbs I blow up, and my cravings kick back in again.

Today I've had one string cheese so far, we'll see how today goes. Weekends are always tough!

i know! if i go overboard on carbs, i gain weight very quickly too.

Well done, Cape! I absolutely CANNOT resist b-day cake, so good for you! I have this mentality that it's once a year (no matter whose birthday it is :p) so I would totally help myself. Oh well, every superhero needs a weakness. :D

Hi Hydra! :)

My confession for today:

Breffix - Cream of wheat pancake (don't judge, it's super tasty!), 1 cup of tea with a tsp of sugar

Snack - Grapes

Lunch - Yay! Meeting my buddy for lunch at a greek/lebanese place and have decided on getting the veggie platter. It comes with spanakopita, a salad, hummus and tsatziki (sp?). Should be good stuff.

Snack - Grapes?

Dinner - dunno yet. I'm guessing rice and two curries...

Oh snap, forgot the exercise. I'll be playing tennis for an hour or so this evening.

Morning Ladies and thanks! I was proud lol haha....and I just want to say Echo and Sunni... you guys are doing phenominal! Way to go on the exercise! I am hoping to start running again soon, but I figured that I needed to get my meal habits into a regime first then once i had that nailed into just habit then I would add more exercise.. my job is alot of on my feet and lifting and moving so I know I get activity throughout the day, but I need to step it up now I think to my workouts, am planning on doing turbo jam, 30 day shred and of course get back to running...I do have P90X but am going to wait until I am better shape and use it to tone all the "leftovers" lol I had lost 5.2 pounds last week, but this week (i couldnt resist aad i weighed early... i do not usually weigh until Sunday morning)..anyway yea.. am up 2 pnds... so yea.. I am not getting discouraged because I know that with the grace of God I am going to get this done, and be the healthy woman I was created to be.. but its still a bummer... but with the incorporation of exercise and continuing to eat as I have been I think I will be okay! Wish me luck...and again you guys are incredible and lots of luck this coming week!!!

awww thank you Cape! that's so nice of you to say!! :)

Yep that's the spirit , not to feel discouraged, its perfectly normal for weight to go up and down! besides you lost so much last week.

Good luck! and that's a really good idea to get into exercise when you are mentally ready and prepared. and since you're already so active at work, the extra exercise you do, will really sky rocket your metabolism! and you will be burning even more fat! :broc:

Thanks Cape! I feel like I've not been doing as much as I should lately. I'm not working at the moment, so I don't have "work activity" like you do. I used to have quite a bit of exercise when I was in school, but unfortch I have to make my own exercise now. :) Don't worry about the 2 lb gain. It's just water weight from your party last night. That's happened to me so often now, I know it but it doesn't make me any less upset when I see a gain. :hug:It will drop in no time!

:exercise: nice headband *snort*. ;)

Chit chat question: why are the backs of my thighs so rough and itchy? I've never had rough skin before. Not counting the time I got seriously sunburned and my skin was recovering...anyone else facing this problem? It's so random! My hubby has this asinine theory that it's cause the fat's going away so it's not as smooth as it should be. :dz: Sometimes, I really wonder about him...

Echo, I'm impressed! 10K steps!! I only use my pedometer when I go on my evening walks and for me, I am almost breaking into 8K with my 3.5 mile walks (some days). I can't imagine hitting 10K!! Way to go!!!:carrot:

I am SOOOOOO proud of myself today!! I thought for sure I'd gorge on my lunch seeing as phyllo dough creations are another one of my superhero weaknesses. Anyhoo, the portion sizes were actually appropriate. I had two tablespoons worth of hummus and tsatsiki (whatever) that I ate maybe a teaspoon of each. The spanakopita was a 4X5 piece that I ate 1/2 of and I ate most of my greek salad (lettuce, tomato wedge, slice of cucumber, delicious kalamata olive, feta cheese). I wasn't even hungry! I didn't feel like I was forcing myself to stop. My friend and I were having an excellent conversation and I felt good about the steps I had taken with my healthy eating and weight loss so I was comfortable with stopping when I was full. I was just so elated at that. The owner who waited on us asked me if I wanted anything else because I hadn't eaten anything. That's a first! Usually because I polish my plate and look like I could go for another, :p. Anyway, I was SOOO happy with myself. Crap, I don't mean to brag. I've just never exhibited self-control (voluntarily and happily) when eating out before. Could have also been that the food was delicious and fresh-looking/tasting.

Dinner tonight is Subway. I'm definitely getting my hour of tennis in because I want my seafood subway (lossa mayo hee hee and my fave fake crab. I like it.)! I found out a 6" seafood sub is 800 cals by itself so I really need to exercise and create some deficit.

Alrighty girls, happy to see all of you are making progress!! Talk to you when I'm enjoying my mayo...I mean seafood sub. Heh.

Gosh, Cape, I'm really hoping you're not too affected by Bill.

Here's my food confession:

Breffix - a handful of veggie straws. I know, I know, it's terribly unhealthy but they're gone now. Finally finished, so I'll get back to my normal breffixes starting tomorrow.

Lunch - Chicken jalfrezi (curried vegetables with chopped up chicken breast) and 1/2 cup (I'm guessing?) cooked white rice, 1/2 cup plain NF yogurt. 10 veggie straws. Um. The bag is officially gone now. :^:

Dinner - Black bean quesadillas. Black beans, corn, fresh tomato, green bell pepper, spice, salt. Whole wheat flour tortillas. Mine will have feta cheese.

My exercise confession:

Yesterday, we got rained out after 20 mins of tennis. Came back up and found out 10 mins later the rain stopped but we had already gotten dinner by then. Thanks, weather. :dizzy: Today, we're going out for 45 mins - 1 hr of tennis. Hopefully, we won't get rained out. :)

Cape - glad that you're safe and sound and that the worst is over.
---

Well last night after dinner, I was knackered!! I may have been abit too over zealous in upping my step counter lol. so it really hit me after dinner. But because I was going to have home made pizza for dinner, I wanted to increase my step count.

my confession from yesterday:

exercise - 30 minutes of kenpo X (p90x):boxing:

breakfast - 1 french toast.
---

40 minute walk in the garden (leisurely sunday stroll lol).

general walking around the house throughout the day.

dinner -

1 large glass of water and 1 date.

then after an hour or so 3 slices of home made pizza :jeno:

I should have stopped eating after 2 slices! and even 2 and half, but I was being piggy and it was so delicious, I over ate and ended up eating 3 slices! Which I felt guilty afterwards, but its okay, its a slip up and is to be accepted according to Paul Mckenna.

I also had 2 glasses of 7up. which was very nice with the pizza hehe.

But today at dinner time, really going to stop eating when i am comfortably full and satisfied.

total number of steps taken yesterday 15,801 steps. - BUT it's not 100% accurate - but i really dont care about that - as i am more interested in seeing relative increase or decrease of steps. I keep it on as soon as i get up in the morning, and have it on me the entire day. I know that it is probably over-estimating, but I use it more as a relative number rather than an accurate number of steps.

i've been monitoring the number of steps in an excel spreadsheet all this week. and i can see that the lowest number of steps i took was last monday - 5832 steps, and the highest was yesterday and yesterday i did feel it at night time, as the heel of my feet were hurting haha. :running: even though was just walking normally throughout the day at a leisurely pace.

I think its a good pedometer. and i have noticed i will make more of an effort to move around the house more, just so i can "up" the number of steps on the read out, so its a good motivational device hehe.

have a good day girls!! see you later on tonight for todays confession

Cape, glad to hear you're alright and didn't suffer too much at the hands of Bill. You still managed to watch what you ate, so kudos!! :carrot:I know it would've been very tough for me in that situation. :)

Wowza, Echo! I've noticed that since you first starting posting on this thread your food intake has more than halved! That's amazing that you're not feeling starved and miserable and that you're satisfied with how much you're eating. That's great! :D Also, good job on the steps! I was reeling when I saw the new number... ;)

As for me, well this morning I weighed in at 164.2 (yesterday was 163.9 and the day before was 163.4). You know where I'm going with this. Actually, I'm happy I'm not seeing 165 and 166. I was seeing them for the LONGEST time. It's just that I made the mistake of setting my Vegas trip as my deadline for a mini-goal. I'm 4 lbs away which I didn't think would be that tough and it's starting to look tough. Boo. BUT I made the decision to keep plugging away. It's so funny that I just starting seeing a slew of posts from other chickies saying they were frustrated with how long it's taking...seemed to mirror my thoughts exactly. :p

I don't have much to confess since it's only 9 AM for me... will post again later tonight

Breffix: 3 fresh figs (YUM)

Yeah that's it for now. Will have a cup of tea in a bit.

Chit chat time: I met up with my friend a couple of days ago and she looked good! She's always been a little "bottom-heavy" but her upper body is ridiculously toned. When I saw her, her legs were looking way more toned - must've been from all her running she's been doing lately. For once, I wasn't jealous that someone I know was losing weight. I thought about it and I realized it was probably because I was taking care of myself and doing something about my weight. Instead of being huffy that everyone has it "so easy" and I was cursed to be fat, I was actually counting calories, watching what I ate and enjoying what I ate. I think that's made me a happy person. Well, genuinely happy person. I wish I could've said something to her, but I know she wouldn't like me commenting as it would make her think "what are you saying I was fat before?" So I said nothing. Oh well...

 to everyone. Have a good day!!

Hi Cape!

Yeah, I'm a calorie counter. I never thought I would be. My method is a combo of methods out there.

First, you need a tracker of some sort. There are plenty out there. I use Fitday. Others are sparkpeople, freedieting.com and calorieking. I heard calorieking is awesome because it's more indepth than other programs out there. I've only used their free food database when I needed calorie counts of restaurant foods since Fitday doesn't recognize many of those. I would start with Fitday since it's the easiest (you can also log your activity calories) and then move on to other programs.

Second, you need to determine how many calories you need for your body type and rate of weight loss. This is the trickiest part of calorie counting, and one that can only be perfected by the person who is losing weight (meaning you :)). I'm sure you've heard/read on these boards that 1200 is the minimum number of calories for someone over 5'. I chose 1500 because I thought that would be a good number to start with. Turns out, it was too little for me. I would feel incredibly hungry all the time and miserable when I would look at the number of calories in a freakin' bowl of grapes! I was also having trouble sleeping at night, most likely due to my hunger. I upped my calorie count to 1800 and was still having problems but not as much as 1500. Then I started cycling between 1800 and 2000 (one day 1800-ish and the next 2000-ish) and that works for me. Yeah, 1800 makes me feel hungry, but I don't get that starvation mentality because I know the next day I can have more calories. It's a self-compromise. :)

That's pretty much all there is to calorie counting. Most of the foods I make are not on Fitday. What I do is calculate the total number of calories in the entire dish by adding up all the individuals. I look up the calorie counts for veggies (when I first made those dishes, I would be strict about measuring each raw ingredient). Others - canned foods, sauces, etc - I got from the container. Once you've tallied the calorie counts, determine what's a serving to you (1/2 cup, 1/2 a sandwich, etc) and divide the total cals by the servings to get the number of cals per serving. Based on that, you can decide whether you want to cut down or increase your servings. I started switching ingredients or cutting down on some. I found that using 1 less tsp of oil is a reduction of 40 cals without sacrificing taste! I also found out about making butter-free cream sauces (use skim milk and cornstarch). It tastes the same to me and I bet there's at least a 75% calorie reduction from the original.

Wow, that was long-winded ;) but I hope it helped! Good luck! Feel free to ask me more, I'll share whatever I know with you. :D

Confession:

I took a big ol' nap after I ate my flatbread sammich and 3 figs. I love figs. The end.

I have a real problem with overeating, even though it's always super healthy stuff. I can't stop myself. I feel hungry. I ate very very well all day yesterday, then added about an extra 1,000 calories to my day between 8 and 9 pm....cereal, fruit and vegetarian chili! I am super mad at myself, as I always am after I overindulge. Even though I know the overeating will make me feel guilty, I still end up doing it, between three and four times per week. It's sick. I don't feel like I'm an emotional eater...I just feel hungry no matter what I eat, and portion control seems impossible. It's ridiculous. Guess I'm looking at an extra two hours of exercise this week. Was it worth it? NO! lol
Any advice?

fresno26~ I do the same thing all the time. I overeat on the healthy stuff. I'm the same way, hungry no matter what I eat and how much I eat. I'm just going to try my best to stick with a set amount of calories and see where that gets me.

fresno26 I also used to suffer from over eating, until i started implementing Paul Mckenna's 4 golden rules (Sorry i know i keep going on about it. you would think i am under commission!)

basically in a nutshell,
you eat when you are hungry, actually hungry, and you eat VERY SLOWLY!!
put down your fork between each mouthful, chew your food completely, until its like baby food! something like 20 bites.
keep a clock infront of you to remind you to eat slowly. and then after your mouth is clear from all food , go for the next bite.
my meals usually take about 25 minutes on average to eat, and i find that i am eating half of what i usually eat.

also when you think you are full. STOP EATING.

you can tell you are comfortably full, because somewhere around the 20 minute mark, you will involtunarily take a deep breath! a sigh, or you will be more thirsty than hungry.

eat consiously, dont eat infront of the telly, or reading. nothing, just concentrate on what you are eating. and enjoy what you are eating. not what you think you should eat.

the rules are:

4 GOLDEN RULES

1. When You Are Hungry, Eat

2. Eat What You Want, Not What You Think You Should

3. Eat Consciously And Enjoy Every Mouthful (eat SLOWLY, no T.V)

4. When You Think You Are Full, Stop Eating

also sometimes you might not be hungry, but thirsty , so drink a glass of water, and then wait and see if your tummy rumbles.

also try not to leave your hunger until you're ravenous or faint,

try to stay out of the red zone.

http://www.starling-fitness.com/wp-content/uploads/thehungerscale_1.JPG

if you eat like this, dont be suprised if you are hungry again 3 hours later, thats okay, you can eat again.

i found a link on youtube that explains abit about it

Well it's nice to know that I have someone to relate to....but it also makes me feel sad that you're in the same Boat of Guilt as I am, lol.
I try to stick to around 1,100 calories a day....but man, yesterday was easily a 2,000 calorie day. I am so disgusted with my lack of self-control.
Not sure if you've tried a high fiber diet at all....but that USUALLY works for me. I eat probably two cups of Fiber One, and it keeps me full for quite a while and is only a couple hundred calories. I'd heard the same thing about eating lots of protein, but even protein would fill me up for maybe an hour at most. I need an intervention. I have seriously thought about hypnosis. lol

Echo - No! You're wonderful! :)
However, for someone like me (i.e., no self control) I think it might be bad advice to eat whatever I want if I'm hungry....since I'm always hungry, and even when I eat slowly (which I did alllll day yesterday!) and drink a TON of water....I am still not satiated, and I go back for more an hour later. That would add up to a LOT of calories, lol. It's like a drug addiction. :(

My confession for today:

Exercise - 1 hour X stretch (p90x - day 7)

total number of steps = 3250 steps. (today was my p90x scheduled rest day, so i took it easy today hehe

no breakfast today, I was too tired to get up in the morning (before sunrise). (btw i'm fasting (ramadan - where you fast (abstain from water and food- from sunrise to sunset), so hence why i'm only confessing 2 meals these days :)).

Dinner:
1 date, 1 large glass of water.
1/4 cup of fruit salad.

5 onion pakore (homemade by my parents today bless them, they saw a new recipe on tv) with some ketchup. 1/4 roti. Salad, one serving spoon of brown lentil soup.

dessert - 1 scoop of sweet carrot pudding (homemade - my mom made it - indian/pakistani sweet dessert - gajar ka halwa), with 1 scoop of cornish vanilla ice cream.

the meal sounds very decadent i know, but it's totally fine, cause I followed the 4 golden rules.
I took 40minutes to eat the entire meal, and s-l-o-w-l-y. and I stopped when I was comfortably full.

I just watched that youtube video link, did you get a chance to watch it? I liked what she said, that you should just be in a state of being NEUTRAL, neither hungry nor full. and thats the feeling you should go for.

i never thought of it like that before.

haha if that was the case, i would reach that state, after 2 bites lol. and be eating every couple of hours haha. i might try it though, and experiment hehe

Suniii!!.. lol I hear you bout the whole never thinking you would be a calorie counter.. me ethier.. never! but I am so ready to do it.. lol I joined Spark.. earlier and I find it is really good.. there is even a place where you can put in your own recipe and it will break it down into calories per serving and nutritional value.. so, so far so good.. it says i should be having between 1,200 and 1,550 calories a day.. and today I had about 1,462 calories and i am completely satisfied.. so if I stick to making sure i get my water in each day and if a craving really hits to just eat for no reason i will chew on a piece of gum.. it so works for me! I have finally set a goal... by June 24th, if I lose 2pnds a week i should be down to 135.. so I am going to shoot for 140 and pray for the best! Wish me luck ladies...!!! I have been overweight for a few years now... when i was younger i was always active and in great shape but then well life happened and i let it..lol I have tried before to lose and well.. ha that obviously didn't work right? so here i am.. thing is it just feels different this time a round...I feel like God is guiding me and is giving me the strength to do this this time and be the woman that he created me to be..FINALLY! lol

Yay! Glad to know you're in the same boat as me! Now we can support each other!

I'll give my calorie rundown too.

Breffix: 3 figs (111 cals)

Snack: Cali pizza kitchen flatbread melt (5 cheese&Spinach) (390 cals)

Lunch: Healthy Choice Steamer Chicken Marsala (250 cals)

Snack: Popcorn (100 cals), 2 figs (74 cals), 1.5 slices of low fat/cal blueberry cake (210 cals)

Dinner: 2 halves of 2 diff homemade pizza (765 cals)

Total cals: 1903 Dang. Guess I went overboard today. It was those damn pizzas. I make one batch of dough. It's made from 1.5 cups of flour, 1 tbsp olive oil, 3/4 tsp yeast, 1/2 cup warm water. The total cals of the crust is 720 cals. I had leftover chicken jalfrezi (curried veggies and chicken, totally yum!) and wanted to use it as a topping, but it wasn't enough to cover all the dough, so I decided to split the dough and top 1/2 with the jalfrezi and the other half with the usual veggies (onions, broccoli, mushrooms and my homemade ghetto tomato sauce). The one batch of dough rolls out to a thin crust 10" pizza, when I split them into two, it turned into two 8" pizzas with thin crusts. I don't know how this happened. All the magic of the universe collided in my kitchen tonight. Blah. Needless to say I was full.

Exercise: Calisthenics. Stretching, push ups, situps, jumping jacks, leg exercises for 30 mins.

Later gals. Congrats to all who made it through another day!!

Fresno - I'm just like you. I'm still learning how to eat slowly, but it is taking a lot of conscious effort on my part to eat that slowly and to control how much I eat. I also get hungry 30 mins after eating a meal but so far I've learned to be strict with myself and just drink water. If I MUST eat, I usually eat some grapes, watermelon, figs or blueberries. I only eat a 100 cal portion because I don't have good eyeballing skills. These are just coping mechanisms I use. Hopefully, they can help you too! :) Good luck!

Hey Sunni... thats okay! Sometimes you just need to go that lil bit extra...get rid of the craving and carry on... i have heard sometimes having a higher cal. day here n there helps as well.. I am obviously no expert here..lol Don't let it discourage you.. it really is not that bad... and tomorrow you will get up and be ready to jump into another day... I am so excited to have someone to support the calorie counting with and encourage as well as what we normally do in our daily confessions lol.. thanks again!! hugs!

Fresno26 - Have you ever considered that your not eating enough at that could be why you are hungry all the time? I'm not sure that any health professional would recommend that you eat under 1200 calories a day.

Here's a link for a 1200 calorie diet that maybe you could get some ideas from...

http://diet.health.com/2009/03/23/lose-5-pounds-in-7-days-diet/

I just know that from personal experience if I eat to little then I get crazy hungry and end up losing it and eating WAY TO MUCH. Sure if you eat a little more maybe the weight will come off a little slower. But if you restrict to much and end up over eating then your not going to end up losing anyway.

Hope that was helpful!!

I appreciate your feedback!
I don't think it's my caloric intake that's doing it. Before I decided to lose weight, I really didn't limit calories at all (i.e. I probably took in more like 2,000 to 2,500 a day) and I was STILL hungry all the time. It's basically nothing new for me, lol.
That being said, I have decided that being hungry must just be the way I am...and I'd rather be hungry than fat. lol.
Pretty sure I must have been starving in a past life or something, and my body is constantly trying to make up for it. ;) That, or maybe I have a tapeworm!

Hi fresno, maybe it will be helpful if you talk us through a usual day for you. including any exercise you do. etc.
are you particularly stressful? as that can cause you to feel emotionally hungry.

and when you say you're hungry all the time, do you mean, like actual hunger in your tummy, where you feel it?

are there any times when you do feel satisfied and satiated.

what kind of things are you eating? are you getting in enough fresh vegetables and fruit, as i heard that sometimes you could be eating, but your body is starving for essential nutrients?

Food for today:

Breffix: 2 figs (74 cals)
Quaker Instant cinnamon oatmeal (170)
1 cup skim milk + 1 tbsp cocoa powder (125)
Total: 300

Snack: 1 medium banana (100), 1 slice blueberry coffee cake (140)
Total: 240

Lunch: 5 spinach and mozzarella raviolis (200)
1/4 cup toasted couscous, 1/2 cup frozen mixed veggies, 1 tsp grated coconut, 1/2 large onion (350)
Total: 650

Dinner: 2 cups homemade fried rice (still have to do calorie counts on this one), 6 baked egg rolls (they were so tiny! The size of cocktail sausages, hee hee)

Total for the day - dinner: 1190 :o I'm shooting for 1800 today, so that gives me 610 calories to play with for dinner. Not bad! I'm planning on exercising tonight as well. Didn't do a THING last night and feel guilty. Blah. I've just been feeling so lazy lately. Need to kick my own butt. ;)

Update: I didn't exercise tonight either. I sliced my finger while chopping veggies so I'm having a little pity party for myself. I didn't want to go for a walk. It's not like I walk on my thumbs, so I don't know what my problem is. GRRRR @ myself. :(

fresno26

Melly - I sure hope they'll adjust! lol. It's torturous. :)
And yes, I exercise a decent amount. I usually try to go five times a week, for at least an hour at a time...sometimes two. That being said, I picked the 1,100 calorie limit, and try to burn off 500 calories with every workout. (Which sounds excessive, but is what I need to do to burn two pounds per week. My BMR is 1,650 calories or so.)

Echo - OK, here goes! I think that yes, I am legitimately HUNGRY most of the time. It's always way above the 50% level of hunger. My only thought is that my years of overeating led to my stomach getting stretched out and now it won't shrink much and is never full, lol.
I would say that work can sometimes get stressful, but I'm probably actually the least stressed I've been in years.
So, my typical day.
Breakfast is usually Fiber One, or two packets of oatmeal, either of them with lowfat soymilk. I sprinkle ground flaxseed on the oatmeal, generally.
Lunch varies. Sometimes peanut butter/banana sandwich on low cal whole wheat bread; sometimes a cup of cottage cheese and peaches, and protein shake (low cal, low carb, low sugar, high protein); many times leftovers, like vegetarian chili or homemade veggie soup. (All broth-based, low fat and low salt) Sometimes a big salad with low-cal / low salt dressing, and a piece of low fat string cheese.
Dinner is almost always either whole wheat pasta with marinara and a salad or piece of fruit...or a 'fake' chicken patty or Boca burger on a wheat bun with tomato and lettuce, and a trace of mayo and, again, a piece of fruit or side of veggies.
Snacks are almost always fruit or veggies. Mainly grapefruit or apples, and baby carrots or those single-serve packs frozen brussel sprouts or peas with Parkay spray (5 cal) and light salt/pepper.
Snacks can also be cereal, which I have confessed as one of my biggest indulgences. Still, always Fiber One or Kashi Go Lean Crunch. (Cannot seem to get ENOUGH of it) lol I just started Fiber One probably two weeks ago, after learning how awful my usual Raisin Bran actually was.
I take a multivitamin nearly every day, as well as two capsules of flaxseed oil. I try to drink 100 oz. of water on most days.
I usually work out every day except Sunday, unless something strange is happening in my schedule. (Skipped last night, as I am on call for work this week.) I generally go to the gym after work, around 6 or 7 pm, and try to stay for an hour or hour and a half.

Any advice? I appreciate both of your responses!

Any advice? I appreciate both of your responses!

wow that all sounds very healthy and very strict! i'm impressed!!! sounds like you're doing all the right things, snacking on healthy things like fruit etc.

i was listening to Paul Mckenna's podcast earlier on today, and there was a woman that called in and said that she feels hungry most of the time, and he suggested to her, that everytime she feels hungry, to go and drink a couple of glasses of water, and that if after a little while her tummy rumbles abit and she is indeed hungry, to then go ahead and eat.

he said that 75% of the time, when you're supposedly "hungry" you're actually dehydrated, that you're actually thirsty. so he told her to give it a go and see if that helps.
maybe you can do the same?

also am i correct in assuming, you are ONLY eating 1100 calories a day? that seems awfully low, your body might be on borderline starving. great that you are eating flaxseeds !!! as they are an excellent source for omega oils or something hehe. so well done! but i do get the impression, you're not eating much :) so im not suprised you're hungry most of the time! :) when you finish your particular meals of the day, whether its lunch or dinner - are you pleasantly satisfied and full at the time ?

Hey hey hey every-baaadeee (courtesy Dr. Nick (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqImkDgDwHU)of the The Simpsons)!

Mornin'. My finger is doing a little better but I'm afraid to unwrap the kleenex (whatever, we're po ;)) and see the real damage. Ew. Anyway, if I can't cook, there's healthy-ish frozen meals in the freezer, so we have a backup. I can't think of frozen meals as healthy for some reason. No matter how much they plug the low-sodium, more veggies angle (and I even see it for myself on the nutrition label), I still think of it as crap, will-do-for-now food. Hm.

I haven't eaten or exercised yet, blah. I need to stay on plan today. Planning on lots of fruits to tide me through snack times and I'm experimenting with a new breffix - plain NF yogurt mixed with fresh blueberries and a tsp of brown sugar. :) I hope it's not yuck.

Talk to you ladeez later on!

P.S: Echo - never heard of Sabaz chai so I looked it up. It's so pretty looking! I would be fascinated by green tea that turns pink, hehe. :)

Hydra - awww, playing with your granddaughter totally counts! How cute! :D

Cape - glad to hear you had a good day with the calories! Good job on sticking to your range! I don't know if it's just me, but I feel fresher and more energetic throughout the day when I stay on plan. :D

I totally get what you mean about frozen meals, as its still processed food.
Glad to hear your finger is getting abit better.
good idea on the fruit snacking, very healthy indeed!

and hmm that breakfast does sound interesting!!

aww that's so cool you looked it up. hehe yeh my mom only makes it occassionally, as its a long process.. to get the colour and taste out of the leaves, lots of long pouring and scooping with a ladle, i dont know what the adjective would be for that. its not stirring, but pouring it from a distance every so often while its cooking. but the taste is oh so delicious when my mom adds milk and sugar. but yeh its so cool that its pink! but you can only get the tea leaves from pakistan/india -i think.

lol at simpson quote. you're a funny girl! ;)

Hi Cape! Try not to give in to those cravings! Either make an alternative or make sure you find something that keeps you preoccupied until the craving passes.

Dessert alternatives:

A. Instead of a donut - One slice of whole grain bread with a thin layer of your favorite jelly.

B. Instead of icecream - 1/2 cup of plain NF yogurt, 1 tsp brown sugar and your favorite berries/fruit.

C. Instead of cake - make the low cal/low fat option. I was craving cake the other day, and I found this recipe (http://www.recipezaar.com/They-Wont-Know-Raspberry-Coffee-Cake-71263). Just google search low calorie X, where X is your favorite dish and try it out if the craving is really bad.

Good luck!! We're all rooting for you!

Hey Echo,
Hope your day is going well! :)
I sure do try to drink a ton of water every day....so I don't think it's thirst, but I could be mistaken.
And yes, I am sticking to 1,100 calories a day, at least for a while. I am just trying to get into the 160's, then I'll relax a little.
I am so sick of being fat! Ugh.

coffee with creamer
blueberry lite yogurt
water

2 open face tuna sandwiches using gluten free bread
1 cup veggie gluten free pasta salad
water

handful of raisins and dried cranberries
water, water, water

steamed broccoli sprinkled with reduced fat mozzerella cheese
2 eggs scrambled in Pam with several slices of onion
1 glass tomato juice
1 homemade large iced coffee with 2% milk and tbsp. of honey

water
herbal ice tea, unsweetened

100 waist twists, 100 waist stretches

I was able to keep under 1500 calories today and feel satisfied. I got major hunger pangs shortly after lunch and eating some dried fruit and drinking water helped out. From keeping a detailed journal and posting the food portion here I am seeing patterns and areas I can improve in. And I am also seeing decent and good choices I am making.

That's what I love about this thread (other than the fantabo chickies :D). I see the laundry list of food I ate and it either opens my eyes or makes me feel pleased with myself. :) Good job today! :D

Food confession:

Breffix: 1/4 cup cream-of-wheat with veggies, 1/4 chopped cooked onion, spices, 1 slice of low cal/fat blueberry coffee cake

Lunch: 1.5 cup homemade fried rice, 1 slice blueberry coffee cake

Snack: 1/2 cup plain NF yogurt, 1 tsp brown sugar, handful of blueberries
1 banana

Dinner: 1 california pizza kitchen ind. bbq chicken pizza
2 slices 12-grain bread with ketchup and a sprinkling of feta cheese (I don't know why but I was uber hungry)

If I'm still hungry, I know some grapes that are calling my name. :)

Exercise confessions:

45 min tennis - felt good! Hubby had to kick my butt to get me out there, but I kept him for 45 minutes, he was ready to come in at 30. Ha! I win. :p

Well...Ladies, I did it.. I gave into those cravings, and while I am not happy about it nor am I very proud of myself, I am happy that I did not go overrrrrr over board and I remained concious and counting the entire time..I only went over my daily calories by 164cal. yes i know i never should have but I am looking at it liek well.. it could have been worse.. secondly.. I am back to "confess" all lol.. before..I would have thrown in the towel as soon as I took that first bite..but i didn't, i remained concious and as well I came back.. before i never would have due to embarressment and shame... but here I am.. I even threw out the remains of my snack attack this morning.. so yay me lol

So here is yesterdays damage... lol

Breakfast - 1egg and 2 egg whites scrambled with 2 pieces of multigrain bread and 3 clemintines

Snack - 1 sml. container of raspberry yogurt and 1/4c. harvest crunch

Lunch - Slimfast Shake

no afternoon snack... hmm i wonder if this could have helped lead to my evening demise...?

Supper - 2 slices of Wabos(local pizza place)Pizza w/ donair sauce, 1/4 of a serving of onion ring chips, a 3 Muskeeters Mint choc.bar and 1 bottle of Jones Strawberry Lime Soda

Allowed Daily Caloric Intake -> 1,200 - 1,550 Calories Eaten -> 1,714 Overate by 164 calories

So yes,, I overdid it.. but this morning I got on the scale out of sheer curiousity.. I knwo what a self distruct move after a downfall liek that right? ..well...I am down 3 pounds this week already!! I know once last night catches up with me that will flux a bit but it was enough to tell me hey what you've been doing WORKS!!! so YAY!!! So instead if having a pity party and feeling upset with myself..I am over it and so ready to move on with this calorie counting!! woo hoo ME!

Well, I better go get some things done.. I am on a min vacation from work till Monday and today is an out of town shopping day.. as we are a small town the local grocery store although well stocked and impressive, takes advantage of the fact they have no competition and really jack their prices so whenever I can get out of town to Sydney (bout an hour n half from here) to get my groceries I go.. and of course I will have to do some other shopping as well lol.. so also since I will be out of town all day i am thinking pack all my snacks and Subway for Supper if need be.. we shall see.. bt no matter what I will be counting lol ha!
have great day Ladies! HUGSSS

YAYYYY!!!! :carrot: Well done Cape! Actually, for giving into the cravings, 164 calories isn't that bad. I'm sure you'll be creating a deficit in no time because you're back on plan. :) Don't you just love having a loss even though you think you overate? That only happens sometimes for me, most of the time it shows up right away, but it goes away in another couple of days. I guess cause I'm keeping track and nipping it in the bud.

Where's Echo? Haven't seen her posting much lately...Yoohoo! Echo!? :D It's your stalker! :p

Will log back in later to post my confessions. Yesterday wasn't that bad (calorically) for me, but I just broke even with food and exercise so boo. On to today, my goal is to burn more calories than I eat. :) Have a good day, ladies!

Dropped off my "baby" at college this week. Trying very hard to not indulge in emotional overeating. Went out to dinner at an Italian restaurant last night, steered away from pasta and enjoyed grilled calamari and lovely summer salad. Forced myself onto the treadmill with a comedy in the DVD player this morning, and later I'm going shopping at the Farmer's market for some healthy treats--raspberries, peaches, tomatoes, salmon. Going to distract myself with a long-delayed work project.

I would've joined if I knew about this...How'd you find out about it? I'm in!! That would be great - I've always loved the challenges (until I ran out of steam, hehe :p). Kewl, we can be the DFEC (daily food and exercise confessions) chix!! Whoot!

Here's my rundown for today:

Breffix - 1 bowl instant oatmeal Cinnamon flavored with a pinch of brown sugar, 1 cup skim milk + 1 tbsp cocoa powder (305 cals)

Snack - 1/2 cup plain NF yogurt + handful of blueberries + 1 tsp brown sugar (95 cals)

Lunch - 1 cup white rice, 1/2 cup chickpea curry, leftover greens curry (590)

Snack - delicious red pear (120 cals), 2 slices 12-grain bread with 1 tbsp ketchup and a sprinkling of feta cheese (230 cals)

Dinner - Rotisserie chicken (1/2 breast + 1 leg) and 1 cup of pasta salad (whole grain pasta + onions + sundried tomatoes + olives). Um. I also snacked on 5 olives while slicing up the ones that went in the salad. Hehehehe. (560 cals)

calories for today - 1899. Wow. I made it well under 2000 today and I'm not getting hunger pangs. That has to be a first. :)

Exercise:

1 hour of walk/jog or 45 mins of tennis. I've given up (temporarily) on trying for 1 hour of tennis. It's exhausting! Update: Did about 50 minutes!! Now I feel better about tackling the one hour... ::D:

Cape - good job on the calories yesterday! I fret about going over by 30- 40 cals so I know how you feel. I'm sure the walking totally got rid of those extra 62, so you're good (I talk like I'm the final say, right? ;)). Good job on the chips! I know I would have eaten way more. I love sour cream and onion chips. Hee.

Echo - YAY! You signed up!

OMG, I'm actually nervous about this challenge. I always get this way with a competition. I'm so competitive. I've tried to deny it for so long, but I just have to come out and say it. Hi, my name is Sunni and I'm a competitive person. I don't get mean competitive - I won't trash talk or make the other half feel bad, no way. Ok, I've used that word too many times, so let's move on. :p

This is totally not based on this season's run, but I was looking through older BL threads here and apparently it runs til early April? I've never watched even a clip of the biggest loser so I don't know anything about their run time. I was under the impression it ran from sept to Dec, but I guess it makes sense that it would be like any other show and run from Sept til May (when most seasons have their finales). Dang. We have to keep going til MAY? OMG. I better start praying now. :p

Just kidding, I'm in it to win it! :cheer: <-- proof

Chit chat time: I saw Nick & Norah's infinite playlist last night. When I first saw the trailers on TV, I really wanted to see it but I never got around to seeing it in the theater. It wasn't that great. Average older teen romance. At least it didn't have the stereotypical "misunderstandings" that cause all this drama and at the end they go "oh haha, THAT'S what you meant, haha". Usually, I get stabby when that happens. Anyway, Michael Cera is officially a one-character actor. Halfway through the movie, I kept focusing on his HUGE upper lip. Looks like someone smashed all this upper features into the top half of his face and left the lower half as is. Poor guy.

Ok, over n' out. I'll check in later tonight with my confession. :)

*I will update dinner and any snacks.....I only have around 400 calories left for the day so dinner will most likely be veggies with a bit of reduced fat cheese and yogurt with fresh blueberries and cranberries I have at home!

I did walk for about 10 minutes on my break at work and did 50 waist twists. I am also getting a lot of exercise getting up and going to the restroom with all this water I am drinking, haha.

ok dinner did not turned out as planned. My bf cooked and he did things like bake the porkchops.

small porkchop
small serving mashed potatos
small serving corn
vanilla yogurt

I figure I went over for the day by at least a few hundred calories. I will do better tomorrow and plan better.

Happenin- you joining us on the Biggest Loser challenge? I posted the thread some posts up, you should join us!! :D

Echo - no worries, chica. You've been doing really well so far. Get back up and dust yourself off for another day. See my cinnaroll story below. ;)

Cape - *whew* I mean, I'm all for a challenge and losing weight, but geez - Sept to May? That's one terminally long challenge! :)

I'm ready to confess. SIGH.

My superhero persona left me today. :(

Food:

Breffix: Instant oatmeal, banana bread flavor, 1 cup skim milk, 1 tbsp cocoa powder, 1 medium banana (400 cals)

Lunch: Healthy Choice Steamer Chicken Margherita - (320 cals) This didn't taste good at all, what a waste of cals.

Snack: 1 bag popcorn (100 cals)

Here's where I de-railed. I made lower calorie cinnamon rolls because I was craving it, which is really weird because I've never been a fan of them. Anyway, I made them and they each came out to 70 calories. I, um, ate 4. (280 cals) My mom sent me burfis (Indian confection, made with ground cashews, sugar and I think milk) (125 cals each according to fitday) I only had one. Woohoo self control!

Dinner: Veggie biryani with pieces of rotisserie chicken mixed in. (400 cals guessing?)
Dessert: 1 cinnaroll. I suck. (70 cals)

Total cals for today: 1695. Looks a little low but I don't know (too lazy) how many cals were in my dinner. So I probably hit 1800 or higher (eep!:o) but I'll let it go for now.

Exercise: No exercise. Rained like cats and dogs when we were getting ready to leave. Stupid rain. :dz:

O and Sunni about the Biggest Loser Challenges.. I think they end when each season ends if I understood correctly.. so it would end probably in late November or early December then another one would start up when another season would start on tv early winter like January-ish lol...as far as I understand they do not last from Sept. to May just as long as each tv season lasts and they usually do two a year on tv... so yea.. I am not sure if I am even making any sense anymore.. lol if I havent please let me know..lol bye for now! to bed i go!

Go Cape! You had an awesome day today. Awww, you have lil' kitties!! I think some cats are cute. Most of them look mean as heck though. Dogs look a little um slow and friendly, hehe. :p What kinds of cats do you have? I think Bombay cats are absolutely gorgeous. Tabbies are adorable too. :)

So I went on Fitday and calculated my calories for my dinner. I just couldn't rest without knowing how many cals I ingested. Sigh. I'm hooked on calorie counting. :p So my total for today ended up being 1833. Not bad since my daily range is 1800 - 2000. Woohoo!! :carrot: I think I'll call it an early night too. I was up til 1:15 this morning watching Nick & Norah cause I couldn't sleep for whatever reason and I've been whacked out today. Today's my cleaning day and I just did laundry and cleaned the kitchen. So, of to bed now to have a full, productive day tomorrow. :)

P.S: Thanks for the info, Cape. Made total sense. :D

Gosh, I feel really full. Ugh.

Let's confess.

Breffix - Instant oatmeal maple & brown sugar with extra cinnamon (160 cals), 1 cup skim milk + 1 tbsp cocoa powder (120 cals)

Snack - cinnaroll (70 cals) :p

Lunch - Curried onion and potato with 2 rotis (500 cals)

Snack - Um. 4 cinnarolls (280 cals)

Dinner - 1 cup veggie rice + chicken from last night, 3 alu tikkis (potato cakes, kinda like latkes) and some curried onion and potato (1 million calories)

Ugh, I'm FULL from dinner. The problem was I took a nap in the afternoon. Woke up, went grocery shopping, came back and had to cook dinner. I was hungry so I stuffed myself with cinnarolls. Should not have done that. Oh well. What's done is done. My dinner didn't look like it was too much, but once I ate it, I was just super full. Should've stopped at the last tikki. It was too much. Grrr. Anyway. I'm guessing I hit 2000 for today. We also didn't exercise. I'm getting too complacent with the exercise. Time to kick my butt back into gear.

Haha confessions! I need to confess...
will you forgive me for eating, not one, not 2 but 2 and a half slices of zucchini bread?! My mom made it, I have no idea what it is in or the true calorie value of it.
But I think all is ok. I have decided to try breaking through my plateau by eating more calories. I found one thing that said to eat up to 2000 calories but I think aiming to eat 1700-1800 is better. I even planned to eat some yogurt but I want some peaches instead...all other food/meals were on plan!

Hydra - way to go on the cals today!

Dagny - I've never tasted zucchini bread, but I've always heard awesome reviews from everyone who has eaten some. Hmmm...another bread recipe to try but for next month. I definitely went overboard with my dumdum idea of making cinnarolls. Dang nabbit! :p

O...Echooo... come out come out whereever you are! where are you hiding today?

I know right? She's been MIA today. Hope she's ok and just tired or something. :)

So, I'm going to get nosy. You don't have to answer if you don't want to, it's cool. I was under the impression you were 19 or 20 yourself. How do you have a neice who's 16??? I thought she was your friend when I first saw the pic!
