Hey guys, Stef has been keeping us all in line with the last 2 challenges, June Bug and Jumpin' July, so let's all amaze ourselves in August, and see how much we can lose.
This will be a Monday to Monday Challenge, starting today (Monday 3rd), and ending on the last day of August (Monday 31st)

Everyone just pledge their weightloss and then I will do a weekly update.

and won't be able to do the final weigh in until 1st September.

I go away for 2 and a half weeks next week hence the unambitious goal - I know it's very unlikely I'll be 226 or less at the end of the month but joining in will still motivate me to watch what I eat for the month. I only lost 1lb in two weeks so hoping for a whooooshhh before we go away! I've also increased exercise for the 10 days before going away and trying to eat extra healthily and drink extra water.

Hiya i come back from hols on right at the end just in time for the bank hol so could do a weigh in then be interesting to see how much i would have put on although me and the other half have both said we are not gonna go nuts with the food out there..i cant really eat much when im away to be honest..its the drink that will get me!!

not feeling too hot the last few days, have headache and sniffles and so very very tired so no gym since saturday which isnt like me will hopefully go today ...

I would like to join in! My goal is only 3 lbs this month, I am currently 128 and would like to see 125. I thought about going lower but honestly I really don't feel like I want to be much smaller. Gosh, never thought those words would come out of my mouth, LOL I am almost 45 and this is probably a really good weight for my body.

Welcome All,

Rainbow & Touchmytoes, the hols will be hard, but do try and weigh in that last day - I know you can do it.....I stayed the same on my America trip, and didn't deprive myself too much, think it's just being a little bit careful, and also not having that, 'screw it, I ate a burger yesterday, so now it doesn't matter if I eat a pizza today' kind of attitude!!

I also am having a fairly good week, not walking as much as I like to, I'm only getting in 1.5 hours a day and I usually get 2.5.

Honestly though, I'm scared right now! I'm so close to goal, and I'm afraid that I won't be able to get these last few pounds off, even though I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I also afraid that once I reach goal, it will come back on quickly, even though I know what to do in order to keep the weight off.

Enough of my pity party!!!

There's always lots of posts about 'how do people set their goal weights'.
How did you come up with yours? And how do you feel at 10lbs away, are you kind of just still going because you had that goal fixed in your mind, or do you still feel like you have more to lose?
I have lost and gained quite big amounts a few times over the last 10 years, so I know about the fear bit...this time I am looking at reachig goal as kind of the beginning of a phase, where I know the maintenance bit will be the most important...

starting weight = 173.4lbs
current weight = 169.8lbs
overall goal weight = 150lbs

goal for end of august = 163.8

as they say, aim high and you may land on a lower branch, instead of landing on your bum on the ground hehe :cheer: :cheer2:

I have absolutely no motivation to do this :cry: I have never felt so tired in my life :lol: keep saying i'll start monday but its the same old story :rolleyes: get home from work too tired to exercise or do anything :( its a chore just to make dinner and put sandwiches up for next days lunch :yawn: I know if I can just make a start exercising I will have more energy :carrot: please NAG ME to get off my a$$ ;) I will try to lose 5lbs this month :p don't think I can commit to more at the moment. :wave:

So, hey Cat, you've been added to the top! *** kicking starts here, if you are too tired at night, get up 1/2 an hr early and do even 20 mins....START NOW, even 3 days a week!!!!!

It does indeed! now everytime i want to eat junk food. i will think of you all! and not wanting to let the group down or myself down.
but i will be cheating once a week. i've been daydreaming all week about tuna baguette from pret. i could eat 2 or 3 of those!! yum yum, i dunno what they put in that tuna mix. i tried making it at home (from the recipe they have online) but never tastes the same.

so next wednesday gonna treat myself. but until then. its healthy eating all the way and exercise. hopefully! hehehe

im 5'6 so to look to me you would not think im overweight at all...should post some pics really as if you saw me at xmas and then now you would see huge difference!

going out tonight,a little nervous to be honest, having one of those really really sad days, the house (although i know its not dirty i clean everyday) well anyway..everywhere i look there are things to be done if you know what i mean...dishes (only 3!!) cleaning the bath room ...making the bed up...you know those days where you just dont know where to start and also i feel sooooo BLOATED!! urgh!

well anyway that nervousness about tonight... going to a bbq with lots of mega tasty food..lots of wine...and with the mood im in...you just know what will happen!!

I know how you feel, its difficult when surrounded by yummy food...why don't you try and get in an hour of excercise now, and then you won't be A; as likely to overdo it B: as guilty if you do...

So...I was curious about your height, because I kind of got the vibe from your posts that you weren't particularly overweight... and not really my place to comment, but your weight goal is verging on underweight BMI - is it realistic for you to maintain that?????
Maybe you could lighten up on yourself a bit and go for 125 - 130 instead.
Also, another tuppence, do you think that maybe you should try and let the food aspect go a bit ( obviously whilst still aiming for healthy stuff) and focus more on excercise and toning...
Anyway, preachy bit over! Hope tonight goes ok for you, maybe even let yourself go, but avoid carbs in the process...

PS, I know BMI isn't exact for everyone, but - technically you aren't overweight, you are right smack bang in the middle of the healthy weight range for your height.

ha, yeah i know, im gonna change that weight goal i dont want to be that little.
you're right about the toning i need to get back into it, went to gym yesterday first time since last tuesday which is unlike me!
im gonna go for an hour at 3 til 4 then get ready for tonight.
the food thing is simple really, when i eat normally (as in full portions) i feel horrid, not mentally just really really yuk like ive just downed a tub of cream in one if you know what i mean, its funny, the less i eat the better i feel in myself a whole lot less bloated and uncomfortable.il have a few glasses tonight and some chicken etc and after doing some at the gym il go easy on myself...

(when i say the less i eat im not talking starving myself or anything, i always have two small portions of fruit/veg and fish for lunch and breakie and then a proper evening meal before 7)

2lb lost this week :) I was very strict about what I ate this week and exercised 110 minutes a day for the last week to manage that though :( I can' t maintain that level of exercise but wanted to make sure I lost a few more pounds before going away. Very frustrated my weight loss has slowed down this much and I'm not even down to 16 stones yet. ( I know 2lb is good but the 2 weeks before that I only lost 1lb in total which again I know is better than nothing but if I carry on at that rate it'll take me 3 years to be a healthy weight and it took a lot of hard work to lose this week's 2lb) . Hoping I don't put much weight on while away.

That is a lot of excercise, well done, and on the 2 lbs:carrot:
It can be so frustrating when it slows down though, especially when you are working so hard at it, but sometimes it does just happen for a couple of weeks, and then you see a great result after..i know you have the holiday, so that makes it even harder, but I bet you can maintain your weight for it, and still enjoy some naughty stuff!

Last weigh in before holiday and I whooshed :carrot::carrot::carrot: now 16 st 1 (actually looks on the scales more like 16 st half a pound but not counting half pounds). So reached August's goal, just about reached my unrealistic holiday goal of 16 stones :dizzy: I doubt I will maintain that but at least I shouldn't be back up to 17 st when I get back :dizzy: Knew I looked like I'd lost more weight than the scales were telling me. Bad scales :mad: 16 stones has been the weight I've been trying to get down to for years - last time I was anywhere near this weight I was pregnant with my now 10 year old daughter.

i'm counting this as my final weigh in for the month now - and my starting point next month will be whatever it is after too much icecream ;)

Thanks Ellie for the support. I wa slossign a steady 2lb a week guess my body's just changed how it's losing weight now I'm lighter.

Soo current weight = 225lb and 3lb lost this week :carrot:

Hello all!

At last I am back in the land of the well connected!

If I may I'll try Amazing myself for August. I would like to get down to 15st precisely. Then, when I'm back at work in September I'll hit the gym and diet well and truly!

I'll just pop upstairs and then come back and change my tickers........

Anyhoo... I am back here and looking forward to getting back on track.

Talking of 'back', mine's feeling much better and I hope I can get back to walking now. It is usually niggly but I caught it moving boxes of book - doh!!

Holidays with Sisters ARE bad, I went to Turkey with mine this year, and its worse cuz I never watch what i eat, and finish all the stuff on her plate.

had some really bad news today, my grandad died he had been ill for some time but he passed away today, now all i want is a beer and a bar of chocolate and then a chinese and then a pastie!! but i wont. il have a cup of tea instead.

I've had an ok week, not particularly great. But I haven't done myself any serious harm lol well I hope not. I went on a 2hour walk this evening and just got home , it was really refreshing and gave me time to think about a lot of things. I'm getting weighed in on Monday again and I just really need to see a loss, I'll be really happy with about 3, but only time will tell.

I use a manual one as well, it weighs me around 4lbs light, but at least it weighs consistently 4 lbs light, where the digital would have a diff of 3 lbs within the space of a few mins. (I think its off by 4 lbs because it was on its side beside the toilet cistern for so long while I was busy stuffing my face!!

I have got this obsession with the scales that I seriously need to give up, I get on every set of scales I see, I'm usually scared of the ones you get in Boots , that you pay to use but yesterday I jumped on them lol and then this morning I used the ones at home. I was planning on buying some new digital scales but I'm worried my obsession will get worse lol

hiya last weigh in im down my mums at min before grandfathers funeral and i can confirm (despite being off diet for a bit) that i have lost 3lbs before going away....so that means that im now 135lbs...woop woop and something else that was great was that whilst shopping for black dress i went into debenhams and spotted a really cool hooded dress in the kids section...age 15-16 and it fits...perfectly!! woop woop and only cost £4.80 cus it was kids sale stuff!!!

anyway....off on hols in next few days....will weigh in when i get back .....xxx

loss of - 3 lbs.

to reach end of august goal - i need to lose another 3lbs.

I am so enjoying the freedom of my new eating plan. basically following Paul Mckenna's 4 golden rules, and its really working for me, i am so happy :)
and also following the gabriel method - have just started reading that. and abit of south beach diet thrown in for good measure lol.

I had an ok day. Could have eaten better. Lack of planning had me eating things cause i was starving and ate some things i probably shouldnt have. On a good note I got some exercise in today. Im still a work in progress. Focusing on tomorrow.

Its really hard getting back in the swing of things when you have gone off track a bit, but actually was just discussing that with a friend yesterday, and have come to the conclusion that bar all other things...THAT is the secret to dieting, and to maintaining in the future. The ability to be a bit bad, but get right back in the saddle, instead of using the bad eating as an excuse in your head to keep eating bad things, ie might as well now, as I have already been so bad!

No Problemo, its kinda helping keep me on track!
Today good for me food wise, but have downed two large glasses of wine, and not supposed to be drinking (on my diet!!) ah well.
Alos did running and weights this a.m so hope the wine doesn't spoil that all

Thanks for asking pebbles! my week is going really great! I am loving the 4 golden rules of Paul Mckenna (i can make you thin) my book just arrived this morning! But have been implementing the rules since last friday. and its really working for me. i do not feel like i am on a diet, as i can eat whatever i fancy (within reason of course, hehe).

and i am loving p90x! i just started 3 days ago.

hehe I was the same! I was thinking what is this p90x alot of people are going on about.

well in a nutshell. its a fitness programe, you follow it for 90 days (hence the name) its extreme exercise, its meant to be for people who are really physically fit (i am not! - so i just adapt the exercises to my own specific beginner level and keep to my own pace)

its great, cause you get all these worksheets, and there are like 12 different workouts, so each day is something different! you dont get bored! and i also love that its structured. i've printed out the plan for the next month and each day is a different workout, and they tell you to do which workout on which day.

i am really enjoying it. i'm on day 5 at the moment.

and the guy who does it Tony Horton, he is so great! really motivating and funny too.

Pebbles, i've heard that it takes time sometimes for your body to readjust and after a plauteu you should see a drop when you're body recalibrates or something, so probably right now, its getting used to this weight and when its ready will drop to the next level.

Its monday so here is my update.

Start weight 174 lbs
Goal weight for 31st August = 168 lbs

current weight as of today is = 168 lbs. :goodscale:

BUT I am worried that its a fluke and that somehow the pound fairy will visit me at night and pile the pounds back on!! So i am still nervous that the loss isn't real , or is just water loss, so i really want to maintain it this week for the final weigh in next monday!!! :goodscale:

Lost another 2 lbs.
15 lbs lost total since week 1.

210/195/190(August goal)
Week 1- 6.5lbs
Week 2- 4lbs
Week 3-4.5lbs

So it's not a steady 5lbs a week so I'm a little worried about reaching my goal.. I'm just gunna push myself extra extra hard. :]

I weigh myself every monday at the doctors when I go in for my shot and meds so I won't know my last weight until then. Which just happens to be the last day in August. Haha.

I'm not exactly used to finding my way around the site yet, so when someone makes another forum (Ex. September 4 Week Weightloss Challenge) can someone PM me the link? I'm deffinately up for anything to help me keep motivated. I'm also doing the 21 day challenge (secretly) lol. It's just too hard for me to get on and post how my day was and what number I'm on, so I just keep it writen down in the same thing I write my workouts down in. :]

Well, I am finishing August in the same place that I started 153.

I haven't changed my eating or exercising habits, I guess that I just hit a plateau. Being so close to goal weight that is really hard to see. I am really disappointed in myself right now, but I'm not going to let that stop me, I have worked to darn hard to get where I am now.

Can't wait to see everyone's total's!!!!!

Hi All,
Wishing everyone a great last weigh in.
Mine has been good at 3lbs this week, but I didn't come near my target for the month, however, half a stone lighter is great, so am feeling good.

Pebbles, i think you are still doing great to be so close to your goal, glad to see you in the new challenge!

I will post all the results here at the end as they come in!!!

Hi girls, well done everyone for their hard work during august and congratulations for those that have lose weight, or maintained their weight! way to go!

my starting weight was 174 lbs
My current weight - 168 lbs.

my goal was to lose 6lbs, i achieved the goal :)

nooooooooooooo you forgot me :) I did my final weigh in before i went away at 225 lb and you didn't update it - anyway back now and final final weigh in is 226lb - only oput 1lb on and thta's most likely water at least I hope so :)
