Mini-Goals - BarbPA's One-Year Anniversary...114 pounds lost!

Hi 3FC Friends! :wave:

Yesterday marked the one-year anniversary of my new, healthy life! I am proud to report that I have lost 114 pounds to date! I have started a new blog to share my journey. You are welcome to check it out HERE (

Many people ask "How did you do it?". In a nutshell I started eating healthy and exercising. Simple process...not always easy...but worth every moment!!! Last Aug 1 I stepped into a gym on their opening day and the first day of the rest of my life. I hired a personal trainer and started counting calories. I strength train 3x per week and I do cardio 6-7 days a week. I eat about 1,800 calories per day and log everything on The Daily Plate. It has been as much of an emotional journey as a physical one.

I come to 3FC on a daily basis for support, friendship and motivation! I have developed a great friendship with my personal trainer! I learned which friend I could really reach out to for support! I have 2 small children and a husband who's not really interested in getting healthy. I had to find a way to surround myself with positive influences. Ultimately I only have control over me! That has been a big part of my thought process.

Thank you all for being a part of this journey with me. You all inpire me in so many ways and I hope that I can provide some inspiration back to you!

I will talk in more detail about my journey on my blog and will eventually write a much longer "goal" story here. :D

Wow you are such an inspiration. this September I think 6th will be my one year date and I haven't lost that much, I had a couple setbacks that lasted a few months each, a 1.5 month stall and was just lazy a good bit of it. I"m hoping to get CLOSE to a 50 lb loss by then. maybe 45. I think I've finally learned my lesson though! Thanks for the motivation/inspiration girly girl! :D

Do you know you've done the impossible? You know it's impossible to lose that much weight that fast without surgery, right? And even then it's iffy. IT'S TOTALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO DO WHAT YOU'VE DONE BUT YOU DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How do we keep doing all these impossible things?!?! Could it be we've had a PERMANENT SHIFT IN OUR LIVES????? Are we different people now?? Is that possible????

In two weeks I get to post my impossible story...I can't wait. You don't need me to tell you how awesome you are, you already know that. You are AWESOME because you have DONE THE IMPOSSIBLE. And you did it with flair, not everyone can say that!!!!!

Wow! Your story is amazing! One thing that really strikes me is how much younger you look! I'm sure you feel more youthful and energetic too! How many kids do you have? I'm counting at least 4 there!

DC - I am looking forward to your anniversary post! Accomplishing the impossible is great, isn't it?!?!? :D

Thinpossible - I have two boys! I've got my hands full with them...can't begin to imagine 4! The bottom/middle "before" pic is me holding the two of them. In the "current" pics my youngest son is with me in the close up on the top/left...he is 2.5 years old. He's the one I'm holding in the bottom/left "before". The other 2 "current" pics are me with my oldest son, who turned 4 last week.

Question: When you strength train 3 times a week, do you do all different exercises each time? I'm still trying to figure these things out.

Bunny - I do full body workouts each of my sessions. I rely on my personal trainer to put together my workouts. I've started doing 1 of the workouts on the stability ball with a combo of strength and core. It's a fun workout. If you don't have access to a trainer there are some great website resources and some fabulous support in the exercise forum here. :strong: Good Luck...You can do it!!!

How long did it take you to work up to cadio 6 days a week? Again great job.

BH3 - I actually just dove into 7 days a week. I didn't do a lot at first. Even if I got to the gym for 15 minutes it was better than nothing! I just pushed myself. I was totally committed and I knew that's what I needed to do. I juggled my schedule and just made it work! In the first 10 months I only took 1-2 days off from the gym. Lately I've started giving myself one day off, but I do make sure to keep active even on that day. I have 2 little boys that keep me running. :) Now on my strength days I typically lift for 60 min and do 20 min cardio. On cardio days I do about 45 min cardio and some extra ab work. I always finish up with 10-15 min of stretching.

I wish I could reply to everyone of you individually. You have no idea how much you all keep me going! I look forward to continuing to share my journey and can't wait to hear about all your successes!!!
