Okay, this month I am really going to quit slacking and post here more often. I only read the posts about once a week here and I feel like I've been missing out on everyone's victories.

Congrats to all who are perservering. We have all accomplished so much and even though we have further to go, I know we can do this if we just hang tough together.

I've already decided my goals for this month was to weigh in twice a week instead of once a week, come here daily for inspiration, and experiment with more recipes out of the cookbook.

This is meant to be ***TAKE 38 THREAD***

Anyone else have any August goals?

Just finished a killer weekend at work. I'm so glad I have tonight off.

I'm going to weigh in tonight and have no idea what the scales might show.

I bought a new food journal last week at Walgreen for the second half of my weight loss journey.

Last week I got so many compliments on my weight loss that I freaked a little and thought about cheating. I really dislike being the center of attention and the compliments were not all welcome. I guess I'm holding on to a little PTSS from a stalker I had when I was skinny.

Geez Louise, my legs are killing me from all the running around I did at work. Don't think I'll exercise tonight, lol.

Hope everyone else is off to a great start.

I opted to just sit and chat with some friends on the deck, far from the food, and drank my water all night; I actually drank an extra 64 ounces because of it. Which means I was hitting the restroom every 10 minutes! I am curious to see what the scale says on Tuesday when I go back and pick up my next menu.

Social eating and drinking is my big problem. I am a MRC repeat. I orgininally signed up in March and should have been on maitenance by now, but I did not completely dedicate my self to the program. I actually have been on and off the program and these boards since March, but I am ready to do it this time. I signed up for a 17 week special this past week and am doing preconditioning now. I go in to WI today and get my menu. I don't know if I lost much but we will see. I am just so ready to do this since I should be done by Thanksgiving. I will need support/ideas from everyone here to keep me motivated and honest. Good luck to us all!

Hello all! I know I'm a new poster and it's not polite to come on her and grump so soon but UGH! I had a heck of a weekend! Made it through but MAN was it hard! Went camping Thurs. to Sunday. Camping I don't go crazy, but I don't usually hold fast to all my healthy eating rules. We have bacon, but use turkey bacon. Eggs, but use Egg Beaters, lean steaks etc. This time, I stayed on plan but still had to cook the camping food. I have 3 little girls who kept asking, "Can't you just have one s'more mommy? I made it just for you!" "Can't you just have 1 ear of corn mommy? It's from Grampa's field". Then, there's my husband "Man! This is the best BBQ Wings you've ever made hon. Sure wish you could have some!" ... and on and on and on... Then, Sat, I start my period so cravings are of course worse. THEN, Sunday night, we take the kids to a movie and everyone's munching on popcorn and candy. I haven't gone to a movie in a year, yet this is the second in 2 weeks we've gone to! What evil little spirit has it in for me?!?!? Ugh! But I made it. I ate on plan, except I goofed my pineapple. I forgot my sheet so couldn't remember how much I should have. I had 4 oz instead of 1/2 cup. Only down .1 (by my home scale) since Thurs. but I'm counting surviving my weekend as a NSV.

Sorry to complain so early in my posting history, but I needed that! My husband "tries" to be supportive but tends to sabatoge all over the place so when I talk to him, I tend to get a list of all the things he's eating. He says he really should be more like me but they are so good and then goes into a description of every lick and bite. Therefore, I thought you all might understand my vent and take it in stride a wee bit more than him.

Thanks I feel better... really... I think...

How great that you were able to stay OP even through all that! You should feel great and give yourself a huge pat on the back!

Well, good news today. I got to sign the 40 pound board! I'm so glad to see the 160's go. 2 times before I've gotten down to 165, stalled, and then gained it all back plus some. To see 159 on my scale was such a relief. Sort of feels like a broken jinx or something!

My only disappointment has been lack of inch loss in my baby pooch (not sure I can still call it that when my last 'baby' was 12 years ago!)...not one inch lost in a month, but I sure lost in my chest! What's that about??!! Totally not fair! So, I feel a little lopsided these days, but hopefully the last 20 pounds will finally go from the stubborn areas now.

So my August goal is really just to persevere and try not to let my head psych me into a struggle with the last 20 pounds. I'm up to working out an hour about 4-5 times a week, and now that I broke through the 160s I'm going to add more weight training.

Good luck to everyone! Stay strong! We can do it!

I am back from my 10 year HS Reunion and I had a blast!!! Looked great in my new dress and enjoyed myself all weekend. Ate fairly OP although there was a lot of alcohol. I weighed at home and was up 4 lbs but my scale isn't the same as at the center so I'm not sure how much I am off. I am totally back on today though and more determined then ever.

There is a chance I might be going to Australia in a few weeks for 17 days and I am super excited about the experiance but terrified because my goal is Sept 12.

I'll keep everyone posted.

Great job on all the losses and everyone who got to sign boards!

Hello all my MRC friends plus all the new ones who have joined. It's been a long summer and I got way behind in posting and reading, so I have so much catching up to do. Plus I should have kept notes because now I have to go back and find some old posts, such as their favorite HNS flavors and tips on just starting.

Yes.....I finally joined yesterday!!!! Signed that dotted line, a little nervous because of the costs plus wanting not to fail. I get my menu Friday, so I guess I will spend the weekend shopping for the "Right Stuff". I am so excited though. I was doing pretty good until the summer hit me and just too much fun on vacations. But no looking back now....it's all a new way of life for me.

I wasn't told much about pre-conditioning to what actually to eat. I had given up the caffene in May and started drowning in water at the same time, so I don't think I will have too much of an adjustment, except for the menu. I have decided to not buy into the pills that are offered at the center, but I have already been taking the multi vit and purchased the flax oil seed pills. I hope all I need to buy is the HNS's...and if they are cheaper on line, I will probably try that route later. I hope because I have decided not to do their other pills that it will not effect my weight loss. I guess we shall see. My garden tomatoes are coming in, so I will just die if I can't have them on my menu...otherwise, I will be getting my fill of them this week.

Ok, everyone...it's been nice to posts again....I will try to catch up with everyone later....I hope to be as successful as all you wonderful posters here. You all motivated me and knowing I can sound off here is what will count on. Thanks to all of you.

Hello all! I don't think I remember too many of you from the spring, when I originally began MRC. I remember janet and fordforlife...are those ladies still on the program?

Anyway, so I am starting again, new contract, 17 weeks for $99. So, I am really comitted this time. I started precon on Sunday and went to WI yesterday and had not lost. I know I am down a few pounds this morning though. My counselor wants me to get below 200 during precon so she can put me on the yellow menu days 1-5 and 6-11. Has anyone used this menu? My counselor said it would make me drop weight fast and is really structured.

Well, good luck to you all and hope to get to know you ladies soon. I will need all the support I can get.

Hello Noahsmama....thank you so much...I missed everyone here. I wanted to wait till my summer vacations were over and our Anniversary celebration was over. Now I am ready to get down to business.

I do have a question, how did most of you keep the food journal? Did you have any form that you used or do they give you something at the center? I'm not good at keeping track of everything I eat, but I heard that it really works.

Also, what were your favorite HNS's concentrate flavors? I should have written all this down when I was first researching here.

I will take any hints anyone has to offer....Thanks in advance!!!

Hi lmickley,
Welcome back! So glad you decided to return... btw... I remember you too, I joined Feb 21st, have lost 48 lbs and have 52 to go... To answer the q you asked noahsmama, I think it gets a little easier b/c it just about becomes a way of life after a while and although you may have a few moments here and there where you feel deprived or whatever, I've just learned to stop and consider why I'm doing this and remind myself that the less I cheat, the faster I get through the weight loss part of it and move on to stabilization and maintenance and learn how to eat for life. I'm looking forward to that. Now, that being said, that doesn't mean I do not occasional indulge, I am not perfect and feel that here and there I have to feel like I am normal and like to treat myself. I save it for vacations/special trips/holidays/b-days only though. Anyways, glad you're back with us and wish you all the best!
Karen

I'll give my 2 cents here ;)
Journal: They give you a sheet you can fill out, this is quick and easy to use, I've recently considered changing to a notebook of my own so I have room to add other comments and personal thoughts to go w/it... haven't made the effort yet and have also not been journaling at all but need to get back to it b/c I bet that would help me as well....

Fave HNS's: Grape**, mixed berry and orange concentrate. Powdered Lemonade, pink lemonade. Chicken boullion for recipes. Double chocolate pudding creamy** and vanilla pudding mix creamy for desserts/recipes. Chocolate drink creamy for dessert.

Meal Replacement Bars: Chocolate mint bar**, Vanilla wafers**, caramel nut bar, choc crisp bar

** are my absolute Favorite, favorites :0)

OK, at the risk of hogging this thread, I have one more post today, LOL :D
We had great time this weekend at Seaworld/Aquatica... We walked, walked and walked some more, saw many great sights, rode the crazy Manta ride (that really was crazy!) had healthy food options most of the time, swam all day Sunday and just had a blast! I did great Sat with food, stuck to it like glue until Sat night as I had 1/2 a piece of fudge when leaving the park...

On Sunday I went a little overboard and had another piece of fudge (yes, heaven help me, the whole 1/4 lb square of it!) and then had 1/2 a biscuit and some red-beans and rice at dinner as well. I ofcourse thought when I got home with all the walking/exercise I did that all would be fine on the scale, not! What was I thinking, that I was somehow exempted from the fate everyone seems to suffer when indulging? LOL...How our sweet little minds like to deceive us sometimes.. Anyways, my fudgy indulgences were certainly noted by a 2 lb weight gain... ho hum. Well, I made sure I was back on plan 1st thing Monday am and have been doing good since then... Scale hasn't budged yet but I expect it to any day now... I can be patient, at least for a little bit :0) Anyways, it was a great time with family and I do not regret a single moment but I am re-charged and ready to get rid of this last 52 lbs! Whoo hoo... congrats to everyone else on there losses, keep up the great work ! :carrot:

3ducksmom, you did great while camping! That's quite an accomplishment.

Imickley, I wondered where you went. Glad you're back on board. I can tell from your posts you're very determined this time. I miss the others who have quit posting also.

Karen, the chocolate mint bars are my favorite too.

Succeed, congrats! I'm very happy for you.

Fiftieslady, I thought you'd never make it official! Doesn't it feel good now that you've made the committment? I've always enjoyed reading your posts and now I can't wait to follow your progress. It's nice to hear you say you missed us. I think of all the MRC chicks quite often myself and consider this board a big part of my motivation. To answer your question, mixed berry and kiwi and my favorite concentrates. I eat my HNS straight from the package sometimes (not recommended by MRC) so I don't do the concentrates.

Daizy, you can do this. Just consider Australia and your weight loss very important, memorable journeys that you happen to be taking at the same time. You are doing great.

Noahsmamam, what can I say? You are rocking the program. I've fallen a little behind and it makes me hopeful to see your continuous success. You've got incredible discipline. I'm very proud of my fellow Hoosier. When we hit goal, we'll have to meet up in person and toast our successes. I think I signed the thirty pound board under your picture and you so attractive! Are you going to do a testimonial for MRC when you reach goal? I could show my kids your digital before and after images and say, "Hey! I know her!"

Little Edie....thank you for such kind words....I am so excited now that I joined....I know with everyone's support here, I can do it. Do you remember at one time someone named a website where you can journal your meals and it gives you calorie content and all? I have been looking everywhere, but way too many posts to find it. Maybe it will ring a bell with someone. I have to try to work on my profile, since I am so impressed with everyone's here. I hope I can figure it out. You have been doing so good....I know you will hit that goal!!!!

My favorite concentrates are peach-mango and kiwi-melon but all time favorite flavor is grapefruit.

You may be thinking of fitday or sparkspeople for the online sites.

Thank you MSIM for the nice welcome....I always new I would join, just wanted to enjoy my summer vacations before I joined the club. The summer went fast, sometimes I think if I would have joined in May like planned, I would be so much slimmer by now.....but I did enjoy myself. I had followed part of the SB diet and lost 17 pounds but gained 7 back, so I knew I had to hurry and get signed up with MRC.

Thanks for your tips. I am still going through old posts and taking notes so I can ask my questions on Friday. I already have learned so much from all of you. I am going in with the attitude of no pills from MRC, just the HNS's....I hope that doesn't effect or slow down my weight loss. I just want to do it without pill dependency, since they are so expensive. I am trying to find out the posts where they talked about getting some of the pills so much cheaper....I may try that if I don't have success without them. The HNS's are costly enough.

Thanks again for your response to me....there are so many great friends on here.....it's like a bunch of sisters and a few brothers....I like that.

noahsmomma, little eddie, and Karen1234 - thanks for your support and encouragement. I know we can do this!

Karen1234, what part of GA are you in? I am originally from Rome, GA....

Ok, so I got on the scale this morning and i am down to 199; Monday at WI I was 203 on thier scales. I cannot wait until WI on Friday, I so hope I get to move on to the yellow menu. I'm just a little nervous about it since I don't know much about that particular menu.

Wow, so you lost 40lbs so far? Way to go! When do you reach goal? I just really want to stick with it this time. Do you find it gets easier or harder?

Thank you. I'm very frustrated at the moment as I've hit another plateau. I've been overing between 174-174.5 since last Monday and it's NOT budging. It's really testing my will power and so far I'm winning but geez, come on now :) It's actually pretty easy honestly if you just stick to the plan. I'm just getting kind of bored with eating broccoli/green beans as my staple veggies, other than my salads 2-3 days/week at lunch.

I will take any hints anyone has to offer....Thanks in advance!!!

good for you! MRC has a form that they give you. But I, personally, have a little notepad that I carry in my person that I use as my journal. To me it's a lot easier to write things down like exercise and anything extra. I also write donw the times that I eat too.

I like the grape, kiwi-melon, peach mango (which my center says 'they don't make it any more' but I bought it on dietdirect.com), mixed berry, and orange. Those are all my favorites. When I'm home and I'm not drinking it with a meal, I usually add the Wal-Mart Clear America Key Lime soda to it to give it a little something other than water.

Good luck!

Karen1234, so glad to see you're back!! I, too, was wondering where you'd went. You've done and will continue to do amazing!!

I'm very frustrated because I've hit another plateau. I was contemplating adding in an extra HNS to see what that might do. I already do my max of 4 but was wondering about doing 5 for a couple days to see if that would help. Also, I'm only taking the multi-vitamin, flax, MRC-6, B-6/12. I was wondering if I should purchase the ADWL again. I quit taking it about a month ago and honestly haven't noticed a difference with my appetite or anything. Does anyone have an opinion? Of course, if I call the center I'm sure they'll push some pill on me

Plateaus can be very frustrating! Keep on going. Have you tried the Liquid Minerals? I used it before and it helps with alot of thing such as muscle pain, etc. I have heard it can also help you break a plateau. If you want to go another route than additional supplements you could try to change up what you are eating a bit, instead of chicken and broccoli/green beans most days you could do fish or buffalo and a different veggie. Or eat cooked veg more at lunch. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Hello, fiftieslady! I am glad you signed up. I know you will do great. How is precon going so far for you?

Noahsmamam, what can I say? You are rocking the program. I've fallen a little behind and it makes me hopeful to see your continuous success. You've got incredible discipline. I'm very proud of my fellow Hoosier. When we hit goal, we'll have to meet up in person and toast our successes. I think I signed the thirty pound board under your picture and you so attractive! Are you going to do a testimonial for MRC when you reach goal? I could show my kids your digital before and after images and say, "Hey! I know her!"

Why thank you edie, you made me blush a little bit. I'm just glad to see that you're back OP. And of course I would LOVE to meet up with you. how did you recognize me? oh, from my pic on here :) But thank you for your comment. I think would do an MRC testimonial. That'd be really flattering and motivating! btw...where's your pic? :)

I have to share a small NSV that I had last night. I have a black-tie wedding that I will be attending on August 29. I have known all along that I of course don't have (and NEVER have before) any clothing that would be acceptable. The side of the family that is going to be there hasn't seen me since Easter (before I was OP). So I knew I wanted to get a 'little black dress.' I've never had reason to own one before or anything like it. So I went to JC Penney on Saturday and bought 2 size 12 thinking, 'maybe i'll be able to fit into them by then.' I didn't try them on and honestly didn't want to. Well, last night I couldn't resist and to my surprise...they FIT and not barely, but comfortably! I was nearly bursting at the seems. I just felt beautiful. I'm going to splurge on myself and get my hair done that day too and maybe get a pair of small heels? :) I'll have to take a pic that day for posting.

Who knows, I may be in a 10 by then...if this stinking plateau doesn't break by then! Thanks for letting me share

Noahsmama...I am so excited for you with your new black dress...what a wonderful and exciting story to share with us. I bet you are gorgeous in it. Size 12 is so great...oh to be that thin again....you are an inspiration to us and stories like yours makes me know I am on the right track. I wish I was a fly on the wall at the wedding...for not seeing many of your family members and friends since Easter, you are going to knock them out!!!! I bet just that alone makes you so excited! Can't wait to see the pictures.... :carrot::carrot::carrot:

Hello, fiftieslady! I am glad you signed up. I know you will do great. How is precon going so far for you?

Imickley...yes, I am so glad too....just kicking myself for not doing it sooner. Precon is going ok, but since I had already gave up caffene, sugar and other fattening foods in May, I really don't see much difference....maybe because precon was not really described in full...just eat protein, a slice of low-cal bread, veggies and drink lots of water....so I'm not sure if I am doing it correctly....I know I am so very hungry!!! I hope after Friday, I will know more what to do. Oh, does anyone know if I am suppose to keep a journal while on Precon? I haven't been, but it won't be hard to do since I haven't eaten that much these first two days. Thank you for your support...

Yes you should journal during precon; they gave me a food sheet to keep up with everything. I think it gets easier after precon since you can add in the HNS in between meals. Good luck!

Hey noahsmama!
After a hellacious month, which in retrospect was self-inflicted, I think I learned that I can not manipulate the program. It it so easy to let oneself spiral out of control all based upon a 'good' or 'bad' weigh in. I don't know if you are a home weigher, but during this past month when I would see a freaking 5 pound gain after eating maybe 300 extra calories of carbs, well it set me way, way back. I wasn't gaining fat, I know that, but seeing that number catapult up was scary. My best advice, step away from the scale.

Secondly, and I don't have anything other than my own personal experience, but no I don't think there is a supplement that will make a difference. I did try Karen1234's suggestion of B6/12, but you are already doing that. I have been hit and miss on the supplements and really honestly don't know--for every claim made that they do something wonderful, there will be a claim that they don't! :?:

So keep doing what you are doing, look at what you have already done, and anticipate where you are going to be. By the end of the month, when you are all dressed up for the wedding and getting complements from EVERYONE, and feeling confident and beautiful, well this little blip of a plateau will definitely not be on your mind!

Thanks to everyone for your support.

Update... not going to Australia. I don't have enough time to get my passport. The trip is my bf going for business and I was just going to tag along. I am actually a little relieved but now I'm nervous for what I will do while he's gone for 17 days. He is my biggest support and to not have him here everyday I may be loading this site with lots of text!!!

My weekend of fun has cost me 4 lbs but they ran my body comp to see exactly what the weight was from since this is the first time I have gained back. I am up in muscle and down in fat so its just water weight... which I kinda knew but it was better seeing it on the read out. Very relieved and its been a great motivator to get my butt back in the gym.

Thank you so much for your kind words!! You're right. I did try the B6/b12 (2 of each per day) and I honestly didn't see a difference with my weight loss. So I'm now just taking 1/day. It's so hard to step away from the scale. I tell myself when I get up..don't weigh yourself. But then I think 'well maybe today will be the day that you see a loss.' So I struggle with that. I will just keep plugging away and I know it iwll pay off in the end. Thank you!!

How do I get these wonderful tickers?

Go to the User CP and there is a function to add a ticker. Once you've done that, it should have instructions on how to do it. I copy/pasted the link into my signature and just update it.

Thanks to everyone for your support.

You know I have yet to really have an off program meal/event/day and have not seen the big weight gain like that. Isn't it just amazing how it's just water weight? But it's also scary in the same way :) Good luck and when you bf goes oversees, post away on here if that's what will help you get through his time away. That's what we're all here for!

Hey Noahsmama,
Thank you as always for your great encouragement... As for you, I know those Plateaus are tough, especially when you've been as good as you are, sticking to the plan and not having any cheats, that just makes it all the more harder to understand why your in a run b/c you know you're doing everything right etc. Don't worry though, you should just keep doing as you have and it will budge again soon. I have to agree with the theory that your body needs time to adjust and I'm sure that scale will move again soon. I think adding another protein drink wouldn't be a bad idea, changing up exercise and increasing water are all good ideas too. You've done so well and so quickly and your NSV was awesome, I'm excited for you and know you'll be posting losses again soon :hug:

Hi All,
Computer not working again at home, so I am quickly checking in at work.
Fifties Lady, so happy you joined. You will be an inspiration to us all.

Well, I had a complete off plan dinner last night. My best friend is moving to Omaha to take care of her grandmother. So, my friend Scott, Bridget (the one moving) and I went out to dinner. It was fabulous. It was a upscale restaurant that had a set menu. We just chose from 3 different entrees and selected the wine. I ended up having 2 glasses of wine, eating only half of soup, appetizer and chicken with veggies, (but it was so good!) and eating the dessert was black forest cake. Ate the whole lovely thing! Thought I would have cravings for carbs but went right back on plan today with only some swelling around my feet, dang that salt! I know I will pay for it come WI but I don't think I would change a thing. It was sad, she is the sister of my heart.

Lori...thank you for the nice comment. And yes, I too am glad I joined...I tried the SB for the last 3 months, (sort of) and did lose, but very slowly and just wasn't as faithful as I should have been. I knew I would eventually join after summer vacations were over...so now I am going full speed ahead...with all your help.

Your dinner with friends sound wonderful....I don't blame you about the black forest cake, and now you are back OP and you will be fine. It was a moment to share with friends and what the heck!!!

I haven't gotten through all the posts yet, my you don't want to miss a couple of weeks, and I see you accepted the job and are back on your feet...that is such good news....I remember the last time we chatted you were really hitting bottom for awhile....so now you are back and doing great. I'm in nortwest Florida, Fort Walton Beach/Destin area. I know what you mean with hot and humid, but we are beach lovers so I don't mind it;). I used to live off Abercorn St several years ago; I still have family in the area that live part time out on Tybee. I love the area, so beautiful!

I want to report good news. :carrot: I got on the home scale this morning and I was down to 198.2, so I hope this shows tomorrow at WI so I can get the yellow menu and get off precon. I am a little nervous about the yellow menu; I hope I dont have to eat salad all the time. It is just too hard to stomach that much lettuce with so little dressing. LOL!

I am going in before lunch to WI. I will keep you all posted.

Well I guess all my huffing yesterday on the boards finally may have made the scales move. I had even told myself NOT to WI this morning, but I just couldn't resist.

I was holding steady between 174-174.5 and this morning I saw 173.5. Only a half a pound, but finally moving in the right direction. I'm drinking between 180-200 ounces of water and walking 45 min./day. That's why it was SO frustrating that I wasn't losing. I hope I have a bigger loss soon!

So for those of you who have yet to experience your plateau, just hang in there. Take it from me, someone who has followed the program 100% for the past 3 months, it's VERY frustrating!!

NoahsMama...oh such great news for you....I can't imagine how depressing that plateau is going to be...thank goodness when it happens, I will have you lovely posters to get me through it.

Ok, I have a question for you...how do you drink so much water and not have to take a potty break when you walk 45 minutes??? Do you have to wear depends? If so, I had better put them on my grocery list this weekend. :D

hey all! Just checking out other boards. I've got a long journey ahead but soooo ready for it! I am planning on losing 100 pounds (6 of which are already gone baby!!) so 94 lbs to go!

Hoping to stop by again sometime... :dust: to all!!!

I will join you in that long journey....I have 106 pounds so I guess you will be seeing quite a bit of us on this site....:hug::hug:

LOL you know surprisingly I only go every couple of hours. I've found that my body just adjusts to the extra water, honestly, no joking :) Plus, whenever I go somewhere, I'm like a young kid, I ALWAYS go before I leave the house. lol

Good morning all!

Yean for you!!! That's so awesome. I started at 214 and thus was on the beige menu, so I didn't get to go through the yellow menu, so I'm not sure what's different about it vs. the green/beige menu. I'll be anxious to hear from you!

Hi All,
Computer not working again at home, so I am quickly checking in at work.

Well good for you Lori, getting right back on the wagon! Glad you had a nice evening w/friends, sounds bittersweet but a great memory... hopefully it won't be long before you see her again. Don't worry about WI, if you wait a day or 2 the extra sodium will flush out with a little extra H20. ;)

WAY TO GO NOAHSMAMA... IT HAD TO GO SOONER OR LATER! My last big plateau I was so mad at the scale that I actually swore I was going to throw it out the window if it didn't budge...(which is funny b/c I never throw anything no matter how mad I get) well guess what, I won, the scale forfeited and I lost 2 lbs that day, saved the scale and my good reputation for having patience! Hee hee, I love how these things work out sometimes, LOL...

I can certainly say I know how you feel, just starting out, wanting so badly to succeed... just know it is going to happen and we will all be celebrating your losses with you too, very soon...

Thank you all for your support during this summer. This has been a humble time for me but at the same time, I feel more connected to my family and have reprioritized my life. I am proud that I did not use my long times of drama to fall of program and feel no guilt about the other night. It was a celebration of a beautiful friendship between 3 people who accepted each other and supported each other with out judgement. And when I get to maintaince, there will be celebrations and special occasions that will be outside of my calorie limit. Just learning that they don't happen on a weekly basis is the key ;).

Good morning Friends....well today I get my diet which I think you stay on until you get under 200....so I will probably know that diet with my eyes closed in a month.

I know at this first meeting, I purchase my HNS's and from the sounds of things, they really try to sell the all the pills....well, I'm trying hard not to get pressured into this so I need some info on all these pills. Somewhere on these older posts, people talked about finding the same pills and so much cheaper, but I cannot find those posts... :-( Does anyone remember what they were and what they substituted at MRC? I remember something about some "cider vinegar pills" and some pills you can get a Walgreens called Relacore. Can anyone offer any info here on these two? I have all the other pills such as Multi Vit and Flax. I really hope I can get by without having to purhcase any pills through MRC, since the HNS's are expensive enough. And it sounds like you have to purchase many boxes to get you through one week OP. I thank you now for any info you can share on these products. Have a nice weekend.

I just looked up Relacore, and I think this is the body fat pill...they list these side effects:

Fast Facts:

Possible side effects include: insomnia, nausea, diarrhea, high blood pressure and indigestion.
2 Other side effects listed by users include increased menstrual cramps, hair loss, heart palpitations and decreased sex drive.
3 Marketing material claims Relacore will reduce stress as well.4

Can anyone related to these?

I'm very frustrated because I've hit another plateau. I was contemplating adding in an extra HNS to see what that might do. I already do my max of 4 but was wondering about doing 5 for a couple days to see if that would help. Also, I'm only taking the multi-vitamin, flax, MRC-6, B-6/12. I was wondering if I should purchase the ADWL again. I quit taking it about a month ago and honestly haven't noticed a difference with my appetite or anything. Does anyone have an opinion? Of course, if I call the center I'm sure they'll push some pill on me

Noahsmama
I know how you are feeling. I had a 2 week plateau then 1 week of loss then a 3 week plateau! One of the counselors told me to eliminate group 2, creamies, shakes and bars. I started eating alot more fish and lost 2 pounds in 3 days. I did stop taking MRC6 when I ran out (that was about mid plateau) but have recently started taking another cheaper version of it. I take the liq minerals and my own multi. I havent taken anything else they have tried to sell me supplement wise.
Hope that helps!

Hi FiftiesLady,
I think the website you're looking for could be livestrongdotcom. There is a food diary on there and there are a bunch of items that are already in their database even a few MRC items. There is also a place to chart your weightloss you can toggle on/off and an option to show your daily calories on the graph too. It also will tell you how many calories you burn doing certain exercises based on your weight. It takes a little while to figure out how to navigate the page but I think its a great resource.
I just started taking the Cider Vinegar Diet Formula last week, it is so much cheaper! I compared it to my mrc6 bottle and it is very similar. I also started taking Relora, I don't know if it is the same as relacore or not. I do not know what is in the Cortitrim since I have never purchased it from MRC (but I was guessing it was similar I could be very wrong though) Send me a PM and I will send you some links to them.

I have not bought any other supplements than those from MRC. I don't know if I will continue to buy all of my supps from them, except maybe the MRC- and a thermo. But I know you can get everything else at wal-mart, health food store etc. When you go to your class they will offer you packages with HNS and multi vitamin, among other things. It is a good deal so you could do that then switch over to non mrc supps.

Yea for you!! I guess I was somewhat 'lucky' that I didn't have to do the yellow/blue menus. I only eat salad 2-3 times a week with an awesome dressing that I use too that makes it much more tolerable. I hope you have a great weekend too!

What dressing is that Noahsmama? I use O & V

It's 2 tsp. of olive oil; 1 tsp. of apple cider vinegar (or 2 depending on your pesonal taste); 2-3 packets of Splenda; and 1/4 tsp of Mrs. Dash Table Blend or poppy seed. I honestly dont' measure it, but jsut sprinkle across the top of the container.

Hello everyone....today was my first food class....the place was packed, I can't believe so many people are joining...it must be a good plan!!! The woman spoke so fast that it was hard to comprehend everything. I did ask questions though, and I felt like I knew so much just by reading these posts here. The specials were good, and many were signing up for both of the specials to save $70...after looking at it, I decided to just go with the first special and start there. So I walked out of there and didn't buy any of the suppliments....we shall see if I can still lose without them. Tomorrow I need to do my grocery list and start Sunday. Preparation is the key, and I can see why. Now I have to find my diet scale, which is buried in my kitchen somewhere. The menu isn't too hard to follow and it does seem like a lot to eat....I didn't know we would be weighed in today, but it was good news....I lost 3.5 pounds just on precon....This really surprised me since I have been doing this for the last couple of months, but not faithfully. This loss really made me more sure that I did the right thing.

Thank you for everyone who posted and answered my questions. I am curious though, is about everyone taking B6 or B12? I'm wondering if I need to go out and buy a bottle.

So all in all, I had a pretty good day, and really enjoyed myself. I was disappointed that the 7 classes they offer which are 2 a week on different nights were all full, which means you have to wait till number one comes open again That's a month away....which is sad for the newbies who would like to start and learn as much as they can now...that's my main complaint today....

Karen...great question. I didn't mention it, and I didn't think I would after I joined. You know this is so very funny, but when I first started to read this site to find out about MRC, because very little was said on their own website for information, anyway, after reading for several days, I was thinking many of you worked for MRC and it was a way to get people to join, because I wasn't reading anything negative about it....now I have to laugh at myself for those thoughts. Please don't think I am nuts!!! Oh...mentioning nuts, are they ever allowed on any of the menus? I will miss my handful of raw almonds each day at work. Oh, something else I found myself laughing at me was when I was going through the my menu, I could not find tomatoes....and dang, I have a garden full of them and what am I goind to do now???? Duh silly me, they were listed under "Raw Tomatoes" so it wasn't under the "t's"!!! What a sigh of relief!!! I have eaten so many tomatoes these last two weeks, that my husband could turn me upside down and call me "Topsy Turvy", because I swear there are enough seeds in me to start producing on my own!!! I know, it's late and I'm being silly....I had better say goodnight.....GOODNIGHT!!!

End Quote

Fifties lady, you totally crack me up... I remember thinking the same thing when I went to the MRC website and initially wondered about this site and the comments here when I first researched MRC so don't worry, you're not alone!! I appreciate all of your replies to my q about mentioning the forum to your counselor... I've never told the counselors about the 3FC website specifically, only termed it as a "MRC Support Forum w/o details given"... I guess b/c I felt the same way, like this was a great place to go to vent, share, etc... plus we've shared places to purchase products for cheaper etc so I didn't want to reveal that either but I appreciate all of your replies and had a feeling I couldn't have been the only one who has met a similar response when mentioning it. Thanks all :0) BTW, I couldn't make it w/o tomatoes Fifties Lady... These are a staple in my diet! Did you purchase any HNS to start with or are you planning to order these online? Truthfully, I wonder about the other supplements as well and if they're really useful. I've been on and off them all and can't tell you if there is really a difference. At one pnt I really felt the Enhancer was helping me but recently had to stop it due to palpitations. They were driving me nuts and I knew thats where it was coming from so I d/c these last week and palps were gone the next day. I plan to finish up the Cortitrim and MRC6 I currently have and then d/c these and see how I do. They were trying to sell me on an iodine supplement to replace it today but I declined, I'm tired of all their pills. I take the B12 for energy, B6 for diuretic properties and the combo helped me once for a big loss but then stopped working after this so I've given up on this as a booster. As for the nuts, I've never seen it on any of our menus. I do believe peanut butter is on the vegeterian menu but have never actually seen it. I will be honest and tell you that I do sometimes have a few nuts, either 3-4 almonds or cashews every couple of days. They are a real temptation of mine and hard to resist. I had to ban them from the house at one pnt b/c I was out of control but I've gotten better and they're back, LOL. Hubby loves them. Anyways, keep up the great work!!

Same here, never told a soul how much I weigh before joining this site... It took me a week to decide if I wanted to actually post my weight, location etc b/c I was horrified someone would know who I was and the secret would be out, LOL! Went to WI today, down another .5 for total of 50 lbs lost! Yeah, would have loved to be 199.5 but didn't happen today.. Hopefully soon :0)

E4FEwife, Lmickley, Goose... Congrats on your losses, you guys are rockin' it!! Way to go!!

Noahsmama, thanks for the dressing recipe, I will have to try this :0)

Hello everyone ! I'm a newbie to this site. Well, actually, i've been lurking in the shadows both on this site and in my life for awhile now. I joined my local MRC March 30th and made it about a month before I fell off the wagon. I had a lot going on in my life at the time, both personally and professionally and was under tremendous stress and got off the diet. I had lost almost 20 pounds that first month and now i've gained it all back and a few pounds more. The 15 weeks I purchased back in March are up on Monday --and i'm sitting here no better off than I was 15 weeks ago, just out quite a bit of money. I want to start back so badly. And am comtemplating going back to my center on Monday to start again. I am almost 330 lbs, and i'm married to a 165 lb man and I have an absolutely beautiful 4 year old daughter. I am tired of not being able to do the things they can do. I fell like I am missing out on our lives together. If anyone has any words or wisdom they could share with me, please feel free. I need yall's support more than you know. This isn't my first diet rodeo, i've been on every diet known to man and even had gastric bypass surgery 9 years ago and lost 186 lbs and now i'm 50 lbs away from gaining all of that back. Thanks to anyone who might post to this. It is appreciated

Good Evening. No More Excuses....(.I like your "handle".) I would say go in and talk to one of the best counselors or even the manager and tell them you have had personal problems that kept you from staying OP...I'm sure they will work with you if you are honest and up front and are serious about trying it again. I also think it is another $99 to sign up for 24 more weeks, so you may want to check that out....I know it's more money, but as you can read from all the posters here, it works, you lost 20 pounds yourself so you are proof. Just do it come Monday morning...then come back here and we will give you all the support and hugs you need.:hug:

I have lost 37 pounds with MRC, but have gone off the program for a month and a half. I have been able to keep the weight off, but now I want to lose the last 15 pounds? What should I do? Should I just start on the green menu or go back to the very beginning on the yellow then blue menu?

Oh Karen....we must be alike....that is just too funny. First, 50 pounds....CONGRATULATIONS!!! :carrot: I am so very proud of you...that just encourages me even more. You have done so good.

Our weight is so funny to hide on here....but it took me until I joined MRC to post it, I too was too embarassed and with so many Nebraskans on here I knew I would run into them at the center any they would say...OMG...you weight 256 pounds!!!! Only kidding, I know that would never happen...no matter how much you weigh,, we all know how hard of a battle it is. Besides, how would they know me because I rarely wear my headband to WI, or my jogging outfit like in my avatar.

I don't think MRC would really like us posting on here, because of us comparing other centers and like you said, the fact we share other sites to get our products cheaper. This is where they make their money, it's no secret. I'm sure they keep track of how much HSN's we purchase and what we say we use a day. But that is so much to keep track of, so maybe not. So I think everyone shouldn't share that info with them....although I wonder if they sneak on and read themselves...lol.

Gosh is nice chatting with you Karen....and everyone else of course....such great friends here.

Tonight I survived another party. :carrot: We went to a BBQ to celebrate a friend's (and my) birthday. I managed to stay OP, skipped the b-day cake (ate my choc. pudding instead), and drank my H20. It is soooo challenging to be surrounded by all of that food and not just nibble on a chip, eat a spoonful of potato salad or have a bit of cake. I just try to keep telling myself every time I cheat will set me back 2-3 days. (They say that it takes 2-3 days to get your body back into ketosis once you throw it out of ketosis.) I'm just trying to take it one day at a time. Anyone else ever faced with parties and what are some of the things you do to make it through the night???

BTW - my wonderful husband got me a gift card to a local dept store to buy some new clothes when I have my new body :D (well my old body that has been overtaken by this current body. I know it's in there somewhere???) What a great idea!

Welcome NoMoreExcuses24

You are like many of us here, have been able to successfully lose (insert number of pounds) here. But then something happens and we get sidetracked, stop following whatever we were doing that got us results. I wasn't successful because I didn't know how to gradually stabilize my weightloss and I had no clue how to maintain it. So one day I am not eating any processed foods, sugar, etc and the next day I am eating exactly what I ate that made me fat. Not a recipe for success.
So the weight lost, well it comes back plus some. We all have our reasons. Maybe even get complacent and stay at that weight, thinking, 'oh I just can't do it'. Guess what--you can do it because you have done it.
So list out the reasons that you have shared with us tonight, and a bunch of other reasons. Don't contemplate going to your center on Monday--GO. It isn't about the short term results, what the scale shows, smaller clothes, granted those are all great, but in the long run it is taking control and maintaining control of your life. So you get yourself together and make those changes--some short term and the very valuable long term ones.

So get back on track, get your support system set, plan by having healthy food in the fridge and pantry, drink your water, get some exercise and BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!!!!

I have not seen anyone address this on these forums but I would think going back to the yellow menu would help get your body into ketosis quicker than using the green. Welcome back to On Program, whichever menu you use. jeanette

Regarding the Quick Weight Loss Centers .... from what I've read and seen on t.v., they are currently only available in Florida and are very similar to MRC -- lots of supplements, low fat, low carb, low cal -- sounded nearly identical.

Karen, FIFTY POUNDS LOST! What an incredible achievement. And remembering all the decisions and doubts we all had before we even joined MRC. That's what makes this doubly awesome.

You're really an inspiration. I know you'll get the rest of the way there.

Welcome NME. I think you'll do it this time.

EF4EWife, we have pitch-ins every Saturday. I look at the food but realize it's what made me so overweight and miserable to begin with. I get a certain satisfaction by choking down my chicken breast and salad because I know it just gets me closer to one of my goals.

Goose, I've been meaning to tell you how much I like your avatar. Love cats and pearls both.

Quote from Fifties Lady (Moved over from July Thread)....

FiftiesLadie, Karen, I too have not mentioned 3FC to the counselors. I just say that "I've heard", etc. when asking them questions for talking with them about stuff we dicuss on here. I don't know understand why they would not like it, some of the paperwork they have given me encourages you to have a weight loss buddy.

As for the pills, I currently take alot, but i will probably just finish those up and get mine elsewhere except maybe the Phentratrim and MRC6, which I do have a script of Phentermine from my doc that costs much less.

I am not sure if PB is on the veg menu, but I did have that one. IF I can find it I can send it to you. I tried it for a while the last time I did MRC and hated it; too much fake meat and salads.

BTW congrats on the 50lbs, Karen!

Hi, NoMoreExcuses! I completely understand gain back, falling off the wagon etc. It can be really hard at times when you schedule is busy. I just had to learn that there will always be busy times and I have to work around it. In August MRC is running a special 17 weeks for $99 and you can actully purchase this twice so you could get 34 weeks for $198. If you do join you should take their emotional eating class, I have heard it can be really helpful to address why you gain back (ie not changing your habits, lifestyle). Let me know how it goes. You can do it!

Hey, Ladies! Well it is Sunday and I have been OP this weekend so far. I start the yellow menu tomorrow and kind of dread it. I don't like too may raw veg, especially withuout ranch! But, I will survive! I am planning on making gelatin with my HNS. I bought some Knox, does anyone know how to make it? So, Friday at work my boss asked me if I could stay later and work and I told him not really, that I needed to get home and eat lunch. He told me he would buy me lunch and I said that I was on a very restrictive "meal plan" that was very specific about what I can eat. The other lady in the office (all 130 lbs of her) asked me WHY I was on a diet. Now granted right about then I wanted to drop-kick her, but I just looked at her and smiled and said, "well for health reasons." I din't say to lose weight or to look better, etc. See the 130 lb size 6 woman is ALWAYS saying how fat she is and talking about her "muffin top." It begins to make a person a bit self-conscious.

I know how difficult it can be to be at a party and be the only one drinking water but you'd be amazed at how much H20 you can drink in one evening when everyone else is drinking alcohol. Think of it this way - a strawberry margarita (16 oz) has 720 calories, that is like eating almost 4 doughnuts! What if you have 2 margaritas? I'm not sure if it's worth it quite yet. Be the DD and make sure eveyone makes it home safely. Besides, I don't think any of your friends would care if you're not "boozing it up"; I'm sure they would just be glad to have you around enjoying good times & good friends! :p

Thanks everyone for all the kind words... all of you are truly my inspiration and the daily reminder I need that we can do this...

little edie,
you are so right about the doubts, I remember when I had lost 20 lbs on MRC w/in the first mo. and then hit a 2 week plateau despite being 100% on plan since day 1... I kept thinking, is this it? Does this plan not really work for me? I'm only going to lose 20 lbs??? I really doubted myself and the plan but thanks to the people, encouragement and reassurance I find here on this site and the help of my center and family, I kept with it and pushed past it and I am very thankful. For any of you out there who are in those shoes, stick with it, it really does work!!

So, I'm just a little past 1/2 way to goal now. This morning scale finally broke 200, was 198.5!! OH GLORIOUS ONDERLAND, HOW I HAVE DREAMED OF YOU!! Ok, a little melodramatic but still true none the less, LOL... Anyways, what a great sense of accomplishment I feel to finally be on the other side of that mountain :0) (I won't change ticker until I officially WI at MRC - usually home scale matches theirs perfectly though). I am not taking it for granted now, I know it is still an uphill battle but I'll get there, hoping by November/December to be at goal. I'm no longer rushing which is very different feeling for me. I so typically rush everything to get to the next best thing for me but I just don't feel that way anymore. Instead, I am enjoying my life and how I feel 50 lbs lighter, the rest is like cake to me!! I've moved to the green menu and adjusting to the new protein amt w/o any probs or hunger. I've also started to journal again, I have not been doing this for at least 2 mo. and decided to get back with it. It's been surprisingly fun.

Have a great OP week everyone!!

That's tough E4 but I think you did a good job... I might have caved under that pressure and either starved or winged it but I'm glad you didn't, shows you are strong and determined! It really does annoy me when people ask q's like that, is it really any of their business anyways? Don't you hate when afterwards you can come up with lots of good things to say but at the time you are blank, standing their in your vulnerability, wordless or stuttering mindlessly. Anyways, it sounds like the other lady may have a body image issue, feels inferior and probably thinks she should be on a diet now and doesn't like the idea you might soon weigh less or be smaller than her. I hope that doesn't sound too harsh but unfortunately that is often what motivates these q's. Either that or she just thinks you look perfect the way you are and has a distorted self image. You pick the one you like :0) Anyways, I think you handled it very well, you were honest and still managed to eat OP that day so kudos to you. Maybe you can stash a MRB in your purse for future emergencies like this. Just a thought.

So get back on track, get your support system set, plan by having healthy food in the fridge and pantry, drink your water, get some exercise and BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!!!!

mism--thank you so much for your support ! I am GOING in the morning, nothing is going to stop me. No more excuses isn't just my name on here, it's how I intend to live. I've got to do this,,,,,for myself, for my family.

lmickley--

Thank you so much for your support ! I will definintely give the class a try. That was something else I didn't do last time was attend any classes.

Regarding the Quick Weight Loss Centers .... from what I've read and seen on t.v., they are currently only available in Florida and are very similar to MRC -- lots of supplements, low fat, low carb, low cal -- sounded nearly identical.

This is very interesting, On Good Morning America they were discussing this Quick Weight Loss Center because supposedly Rush Limbaugh is on this plan and is losing very fast. The interview reported this is never good to lose this fast, and they will gain it back very fast when off the plan. What do you suppose they are saying about MRC? I think they are both about the same type of plan. Just curious what others opinions are on this? :?:

[QUOTE=little edie;2866225]Karen, FIFTY POUNDS LOST! What an incredible achievement. And remembering all the decisions and doubts we all had before we even joined MRC. That's what makes this doubly awesome.

You're really an inspiration. I know you'll get the rest of the way there.
QUOTE]

Way to go! I really feels great to under 200 does'nt it!:carrot:

Thanks. Your right. I will offer to be the DD and drive everyone.

Any weight loss, fast or slow, will come back if you do not change your eating habits. Once you loose the weight and get into maintenance you will know what calorie level you need to stay at to maintain your weight. It is up to us to do it and not go overboard. IMO

I have a question (another). In my special pack that I purchased at my food meeting, there was a box of fiber drinks and a bottle of liquid minerals.....when do I take these, since it is not on my menu plan?

When I do cook with HNS's, and the recipe calls for 1/2 pkg of chicken bouillon, then do you just take 1/2 of your HNS drink at dinner? This really confuses me....but, that isn't hard to do.. :-(

Ok, day one on the yellow menu and I am so dreading the next 10 days. I Loathe most raw veg except for broccoli and lettuce, but I don't know how I'm gonna choke the whole 8oz down. I really only like those raw veg with ranch or something fatty. LOL! So I checked the calorie count on 8oz of cukes=27, 8oz lettuce =32 and 8oz of broccoli = 77. Not much in the calorie level here, I wonder if MRC has you eat it for bulk to fill up? So what do you all think would happend if I just skipped it or only ate what I could stand?:?:

You can take the fiber and liquid minerals at anytime. As for the recipes if it calls for half, then also make sure you get the other half in somehow (half a HNS drink, etc.)

Why the yellow menu and not just go to the green menu? They just switched me right over from beige to green. Just curious... I would just choke down whatcha can lady, they can't ask for much more of you than that. Don't skip all together though, you need the fiber, vits/minerals and yes, filling power of those veggies so do your best in my opinion. 8 oz of raw broccoli, who in the world could eat all that??? :dizzy: LOL.. Sorry :^:

When you finish preconditioning under 200lbs they put you on the yellow menu (4 days) and blue menu (4 days) then you go to the green menu after that. I guess I will just get in what I can. I can't wait to get on the green menu!:dizzy:

Karen...since you and I are so much alike, until your 50 pound success, can you tell me if you stay on the same menu until you are in onderland? Just curious, as always....I started the menu yesterday, and it seemed it took me so long to figure out what all goes where...lol. I spent about 4 hours in the kitchen cleaning veggies and fruit and weighing food out...and I did it all without one nibble....imagine that!!!! Never did I cut up strawberries or melons without eating about half while doing it.

I do have to figure out how to fix chicken breast (probably my worst choice of meat) without it being so dry. I grilled it, but barely could force it down.

Not Karen, Fifties Lady, but I have spent plenty of time on this same menu, and my best advice is to put one on your fridge and have one with you for shopping. I made mistakes months into it and would eat whatever group of protein when I wasn't supposed to. There are some great Mrs. Dash seasonings that might help with the chicken and I have noticed if I cut them a bit smaller almost the size of a tender they don't dry out as badly.

You are ready for a successful MRC week!!!!!

That's exactly what I did this morning was to make copies so I can keep them handy where ever I go. I did put the Mrs. Dash seasonings on the chicken, and without that, I probably could never get it down...lol...but that is a good hint to about the "bite size'. Tonight I am having fish, so I'm sure that will be much better.

Another question...Yawn!!!....when it says a qtr. of cantalope, does that really mean that much? I wish they would just say ounces, because that confuses me. I so want to do this right!!! Oh, I also think 2 eggs is alot of eggs a week if I eat that every morning...I am going to do some cheese next time with it and have just one.....I sure don't want my cholestral to go sky high!!!!

Maybe tomorrow I will have raw broccoli and cottage cheese mixed with ranch dressing mix. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to survive the yellow and blue menu?:(
Oh and I did bring gelatin for my HNS at lunch to help fill me up!

Fifties Lady,
Good for you! I love to be prepared and often do this on Sunday evenings to help me be ready fo the week. I buy the ziploc steam bags for the micro and will put my cut veggies into these to equal a serving for myself or the family that way I can grab one in the am when in a hurry and take this to work if I do not want to eat all raw at lunch. Kudos for not nibbling as well, it takes time to adjust to doing that, sometimes out of habit you'll start to nibble or stuff something in your mouth but that goes away with time :9) Marinade the chicken with seasonings, vineger and olive oil for at least 2 hrs seems to help :0) The other thing I do is dice it up while raw and cook with some butter buds and pam in a frying pan for quick meals. I also like to back chicken on the bone with lemon pepper mrs. dash under the skin and on the skin that way when I pull the good stuff off, the chicken still has seasoning and is tender.

As for the menus, when you get to 250 they put you on the beige menu which is metaslim plus. I'm not sure what menu they started on since you were so close to the 250 upon completing pre-cond. but that would be the next one for you. I was 250 on the nose so this is where I started :0)

lmickley,
I wanted to fill you in on my off plan weekend a couple of weeks ago and how my life has been since... I drank A LOT of alcohol and after the hangovers were finished I was starving for almost 3 days. I had a night when I couldn't help but stuff myself and luckily we have no junk food so I ended up eating almost an entire bag of frozen green beans, double my chicken serving, and several handfulls of granola straight out of the bag. Looking back I laugh because I had a binge of healthy food but it was still a binge. I gained 4 lbs in water weight but a week after I was still up 2 of those lbs. I was contemplating eating at a pot luck tomorrow afternoon as well as drinking with my cousin on her 21st birthday but after reading about your struggle to decide what to do and remembering the last 1 1/2 weeks of my own personal set back, I am vowing to stary op.

My goal date is Sept 12 and I am supposed to be down another 20 lbs. I only have 30 total to loose so this seems like an impossible feet for me right now.

I actually feel guilty for venting about this because so many of you have been op for so long and done so well, not to mention several have lost more than I have to loose total so I hate to complain. Just overwhelmed and a lil disapointed in setting myself back.

In the last 2 weeks I have made lasanga, turkey meat loaf, sloppy jo's, chili, veggie pizza (my fav so far) and tonight I'll try the enchiladas. Well... a few things... first of all the important thing is you're back and ready to get back OP. When it comes to the potluck and drinking, here is my suggestion, it sounds like it is mist likely at someone's house, if so, put your clear supplement (I have tried the lemon powder & the Berry concentrate) in a blender with diet 7-up or Sprite and 5 ice cubes. It is yummy, foamy, and kinda fun if you put it in a nice glass. People will be wondering what your "fancy" drink is.

Last of all, never apologize for complaining or for what amount of weight you have to lose. Having to lose 30 pounds (overall) is still a challenge. Nobody thinks it's a walk in the park because if we did we wouldn't be here. We are here to support and motivate you if you have 10 pounds to lose or 300 pounds to kick to the curb! Breathe, relax, forgive yourself for the past, and welcome back.

Hello from North Carolina! This is my first post, but I have been reading about you guys for months...I originally started in April, lost about 14 pounds (the first diet that has ever worked) but then I fell off the bandwagon...Started eating off plan, not calling in and now almost 2 months has passed and I started over today...OMG, I forgot how hard it is to stomach 8oz of salad!! I hope I can make it. I tell myself it is just for a few days but when I am faced with the mound of lettuce (plus some cucumbers, green peppers and almost nonexistent dressing), I really wonder if I can do it. Not much of a water drinker so that is a struggle too...Thing is, I know it will work and I just need to push past and remind myself that food shouldn't consume my every thought. Gained about 4-5 pounds off plan so I am thankful it wasn't more. Have a 20 year class reunion in Oct so I would like to stay on plan to be closer to my goal by then. I enjoy reading all the posts and have learned soooo much.:^:

I guess we are in the same boat. I started in March lost 15lbs and then just quit. I am now back on it and on the yellow and blue menu (soon). I cannot eat all the raw veg it says too. I just dont really like much raw veg, I can eat brocoli and lettuce with lots of good dressing, LOL! Today i am going to eat 1/2 c cottage cheese with ranch seasoning mixed in and try to get in at least 4oz raw broccoli. I just know I will never get in the 8oz they ask me to. I am just trying to make it until next wednesday when i get the green menu. Good luck.

The last 2 weeks have been rough; some days on plan some days off (although I am making better choices when i go off plan, but it's really no excuse). Some suggestions would be really helpful. Have any of ya'll experienced this? nd what helped get you motivated again? Any help would be MUCH appreciated. :dizzy:

Lmickley....we are not tired of hearing you complain....we are your sounding board here and you are wanting advice. All I can say, didn't you listen to your mother when she said..."eat all your veggies"? Now....find a veggie you like and go after it. I seriously do not have that problem, I wish I could have more. Maybe you should eat them stir fried instead of raw....that may help?

Just hang in there....experiment and try some of the recipes....you can do it girl....right now the fresh garden veggies are to die for...enjoy them!

Another suggestion...I hate chicken breast, so today I cut up some cooked chicken and added Mrs. Dash for seasoning and shook it up....at lunch time, I put it over my salad with fresh veggies and it was yummy...maybe you could try that.

Thanks, fiftiesLady, I appreciate your support. I do love cooked veg, but when you go from precon to regular menu under 200lb you have to do 4 days on the yellow menu and 4 days on the blue menu before you move on to the green menu for the rest of the plan. The blue and yellow menu specify 8oz of raw veg at lunch (such as letter, peper, bamboo, broccoli, cucumber etc). Im just not a fan of many raw veg-I love home grown tomatoes but that is not OP for yellow and blue. :(

Another suggestion...I hate chicken breast, so today I cut up some cooked chicken and added Mrs. Dash for seasoning and shook it up....at lunch time, I put it over my salad with fresh veggies and it was yummy...maybe you could try that. Or put tuna with the salad, or cut up fish....it makes a plain salad just wonderful!!!

The mrs.dash sounds tasty I will have to try that. Thanks:hug:

I have a question....has anyone felt light headed when first starting this diet? It's not the withdrawl from sugar and caffene, because I have been off that for 3 months now.

The only time I have felt light headed is yesterday when exercising I felt a lack of energy. I guess it is being on the yellow and blue menus (my total calories for today is about 850 with 4 HNS)

Hopefully they will be added back in during maintenance by the next garden season, or I will be terribly dissappointed.

Wow..that isn't very many calories!!! This doesn't sound right...it sounds like your body is put into starvation? I guess I had better enjoy my menu now, I don't think it changes until I am under 200, but really not even sure of that...I had better ask MRC at my next WI. So how many calories do you get on the green menu then, if that's the color that is next? I haven't figured out everything on this plan yet.:(

Well your lucky because when you are over 200 when you finish precon you go to either the beige menu or the over 250 menu (i think) then you go straight to the green menu once you get under 200. No yellow and blue menu for you!:carrot::D

The weight loss has gotten much harder for me as time goes on. I started MRC in late April (i am down 30 lbs on their program/ 13 before I started) I am frustrated and stuck and so sick of the huge expense of the supplements (It jsut does not seem normal)and lack of help and support at the clinc . I am still 27 lbs away form my goal. The powder drinks are gross but the clear packets good. Good luck.

Well... a few things... first of all the important thing is you're back and ready to get back OP.

Thanks!!!:D

Just a thought after my WI today (I am ALMOST back to before the reunion... 1.5 lbs to go) and a great visual that the counselor showed me. She wrote down the days of the week and if I was OP Sun, Mon then had 2 bites of cake on Tues I would not be back in ketosis or have my insulin leveled out again till Sat and that is IF I ate OP all week after the cake!!! Makes the 2 bites last night SOOOOOOO not worth it!

OHHHH.....those enchiladas are so good!

So I had a problem making the enchiladas :spin:

I did the chicken, onions and spices... just fine.

When I put the sup, H2O and tort in the micro it was super watery still. I ended up addidng the chicken and tomatoes and put it in the oven for 30 minutes and its still way too watery.

How do you make it??? I doubt it is supposed to look like soup!:?:

Hey all, I have been on MRC since the middle of april and have lost 31 lbs but it seems that the closer i get to my goal that harder it is to stay on plan! The last 2 weeks have been rough; some days on plan some days off (although I am making better choices when i go off plan, but it's really no excuse). Some suggestions would be really helpful. I only have 19 more lbs to go so I really REALLY dont want to quit now but getting back on that wagon again is soo difficult. Have any of ya'll experienced this? nd what helped get you motivated again? Any help would be MUCH appreciated. :dizzy:

Welcome Ashley460,
I always say, stop and consider why you want to be at your goal weight, what will this accomplish for you? Consider those things and decide what is more important to you, the food you like to eat or the satisfaction of having what you've been waiting for so long for. Think of that every time you want to go off plan and push forward, tell yourself you don't need it, you have a bigger plan you're aiming for. You can do it!

Welcome Loveamy!

I have a question....has anyone felt light headed when first starting this diet? It's not the withdrawl from sugar and caffene, because I have been off that for 3 months now.

Most definitely... this happened to me the first 3-5 days of the plan. I also felt like dirt and was nauseated whenever I had to drink an HNS or eat the required lettuce!! I soon figured out the concentrates were better, no skittles in the cut as with the powdered ones, later learned to mix up the powders the day before and the skittles dissolve overnight anyways, also adding cucs and tomatoes to the salad really helps reduce the volume of lettuce/vegs you must consume at each meal ... I added the B12, made sure to get in all the protein drinks (all 5 or whatever they will allow you on your plan) and made sure I was getting enough water. It is tough the 1st few days... you're having a significant shift in your water stores, calorie intake, sugar/carb intake when starting the plan and all of these can make you feel lightheaded and sickly. It should resolve in a few days though... hang in there fifties lady, it's working for you!! I see a big loss coming this week :0)

Thanks, that make me feel alot better since I know I can't get in 8oz. I think yesterday I got 2 or 3 oz of cucumbers and about 3.5 today of broccoli.

Hey lmickley,
Have you tried making the cucs into a "salad" by adding Olive Oil, Red Wine Vinegar, Mrs. Dash table blend together... Or, try blending the cottage cheese, adding the ranch dressing seasoning and dipping your cucs into this. You might be able to consume more this way. Good luck though, thank goodness it's only temporary! I feel for ya :0)

So I had a problem making the enchiladas :spin:

I did the chicken, onions and spices... just fine.

When I put the sup, H2O and tort in the micro it was super watery still. I ended up addidng the chicken and tomatoes and put it in the oven for 30 minutes and its still way too watery.

Hmmm daisyhotrocks ... sounds not so good. I had the same prob once with the chkn, chs and broccoli recipe, I think it would have been better w/o the supplement, less watery. I've never tried to make the enchiladas so can't help you there.
How do you make it??? I doubt it is supposed to look like soup!:?:

I do have a great recipe to share for dinner with leftover chicken -
Chicken Quesadillas:
1 50 calorie La Tortilla Factory Tortilla
3 oz Chicken shredded/cubed (warmed in micro)
1 oz Sharp cheddar cheese shredded
1 tsp of taco bell hot taco sauce (or mild, your preference)
pam butter cooking spray

Lay Tortilla flat, cover with shredded cheddar, top with chicken and fold tortilla in half. Spray both sides with pam cooking spray and put in a pan on med-high heat or your george foreman grill (this is my favorite way to make it). Cook for 2-3 minutes (if in pan will require you to turn the quesadilla over and press down to flatten and melt cheese to chkn). Use pizza cutter to cut into 3 pieces, serve with taco sauce.

I LOVE THIS and it is a great quick meal using leftovers the whole family will love it for sure!!

Karen...thank you so much...that was so very helpful. I knew I wasn't feeling up to par...not sick, just light headed and I seem to have a headache, but it's not a real bad one, just one that lingers on all day and night. I think they said to take B12 for headaches, so I need to run out to the store this weekend and get some. I am so hoping I don't have to take all their suppliment pills...I just don't want to go down that road. I'm doing ok with the HNS's....actually I enjoy all the flavors (concentrate). I normally just drink water with my meals, but this is like a treat. Somewhere someone talked about mixing HNS's with diet cola, but I think it was the creamies....not sure though.

I do have good news....I WI today and lost another 3.5 pounds, so that is 7 since I started....I'm feeling good about that, but seems too much weight too fast....but I think it's beginner's luck!!! You always do good at the beginning of any diet. I have to get my walking routine going....it has just been so hot, and I let my Y membership run out because of the money I spent on MRC. So it's time to get back to hitting the trails. Which is fine, but walking goes so much faster when you can watch tv. LOL

I knew you would have a big loss.. you may have another one before the week is over.. I often feel a little weak when I really get into ketosis (mod ketones on stick rather than trace) and I can usually expect a big drop pretty soon when this happens as well. Just remember, this plan isn't like WW, when I 1st started w/them I lost 5 lbs the 1st week and then only 1.5 every week thereafter... You'll still average about 2-3 lbs per week which is pretty good. Some weeks, 3.5 some weeks 1.5 but for the most part I've lost 10 lbs a mo. even with plateaus here and there... I never did this on WW!!

I've mixed 6 oz of diet sprite/7-up with the berry concentrate (and the kiwi at a different time) and 5 ice cubes in the blender and boy is it good! Actually a bit more filling in my opinion because of the added air. Just don't leave it in the blender too long or you end up with 32 ounces of foamy drink (which, from personal experience, is A LOT to have to drink after you have eaten the rest of your lunch!) ;)

FiftiesLady, I am taking the Phentratrim, Cortitrim, MRC6, Cleanser, Total Woman, Flax, and COQ10. When I run out of these I will probably only continue with the MRC6 and the Pentrarim and get my supplements elsewhere. I had to buy a supplement (Cortitrim to re-enroll for $90) and ther reast was left from my previous MRC attempt. I think you will do fine with a vitamin, flax, and maybe CoQ10 and B6 and 12 from another store for less. Then if you want to add something to curb appetite get it from MRC.

i definitely wish i would've skipped the powders, but i bought grapefruit, pink lemonade, and chicken bouillion (which of course i plan to cook with. maybe, hah.). the pink lemonade is tolerable, but the grapefruit was awful and neither one mixes well. *sigh* maybe the swap basket has something helpful? but i have sooo many left to get through. as for the concentrates, those are great! i froze the mixed berry and peach mango and eat them like push-up popsicles (they taste like frozen taffy) and i drink the green tea cranberry mixed hot every morning at breakfast--it's like a cranberry green tea bag. but those powders... ew.

i can't wait until tomorrow when i can have creamies! i bought hot chocolate and the two soup mixes for starters, but i think that if i go weigh in on saturday morning (which i'm planning to), i'll see if they have lemon pudding and/or chocolate and vanilla puddings. oh and cappuccino. they were out of the lemon pudding and the cappuccino at my food meeting and i didn't get any of the other puddings because i wanted to make sure i had enough clears. but tomorrow you can bet i will be enjoying some hot chocolate :)

Just finished my first Yellow Menu lunch. WOW! I got down maybe 2 or 3oz of my cucumbers that I brought. I am gonna have to figure something out; I just dont really like raw veg. UUGH! Maybe tomorrow I will have raw broccoli and cottage cheese mixed with ranch dressing mix. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to survive the yellow and blue menu?:(
Oh and I did bring gelatin for my HNS at lunch to help fill me up!
Catching up on reading and not sure if anyone answered this already or if you can have mustard/diet soda on the yellow menu but I made a dip out of spicy brown mustard (think any will do), splenda and a little diet cream soda to thin it out a little. My kids and friend ate up a bunch of raw broccoli by dipping it in there. And if they liked it, anyone will. :D
Just remember, this is temporary and will get easier soon.

Wow, how exciting! Have fun and keep us posted.

am i the only one who thinks all the powder clear HNSes are terrible?? i haven't met one i like yet :(
I found I only like the lemon and pink lemonade. Got the pineapple once and it was a struggle. mixed it with coconut and banana extract and put in the blender with ice to make a mock pina colada. Choked it down and lesson learned!

For those who are drinking the HNS's in water...how in the heck do you squeeze every last drop out of them?? At the price of them, you don't want to be wasteful...lol.
Lol, make a small opening in the corner, squeeze out as much as you can and then prop the pack at the top of the glass/container and let it drip out while you fix meals, take pills or whatever you need to. Feel like I am squeezing pennies out!

Good luck.

There are places to buy the supplements online cheaper. Dietdirect.com. Of course you have to buy the minimal amout from MRC to keep contract going. I also think if you wanted, you could use egg whites to approximate the same nutrients. Think of this, you are more then halfway to your goal. This is about you, not the crappy center, not the boring food and not the stupid supplements. You and what you want for yourself. Now is time to dig deep, think about why you started this in the begining, what you want for yourself and how you are going to achieve it. You can do whatever you choose to do.

On the yellow menu soda and creamies are not allowed. But, today is my last day and then I move on to the blue menu (can have soda and creamies). The dip sounds yummy, I will definately try it. Thanks!

I have asked before....but what about goals. Do we use what the center gives us? Do we use what they say as a guide? I am concerned that either my goal is too high or that some others may have unrealistic goals at their height....how do we know what should be a good, healthy weight? What are everyones thoughts on this???

I think aslong as your goal is within a healthy BMI (taking into account muscle mass for very active people) then your goal is fine. My goal of 135 puts me within the middle of my healthy BMI range.

I tried this last night, and it was a great change from the usual! It seems like just about the time I'm ready for something new, someone posts something just perfect. Thanks!

Ok....so I went to Web MD and they say for a medium framed person at 5'9" that I should be between 154 and 171 (based on BMI). I think that I am OK.

What does MRC do if we come in with an unrealist goal then? I stated that I am concerned and I am. If I or someone else goes in with a goal lower than ideal according to BMI will the center warn us of that?

OK....I have actual done this diet before. Last year I got to 161 and the photo as my avatar is at about 167 so I know about what I will look like. I also know that you MUST to stabilization and maintenance so that this is a lifestyle. They teach you to live this. I didn't last time and will this time.

For those of you that have made your goal less than what the center states....what is the reason? Do they guide you by saying if it is a healthy and realistic goal.

I do not want to hurt feelings or push a touchy subject as weight loss is SOOOO PERSONAL but I am curious if some of the stalls at the end may be your body asking you to look closely and see if this is worth it. Please don't get me wrong....maybe I am looking at the numbers and seeing myself there instead of a smaller framed person that can handle that.

I've noticed sometimes that people have goals that seem too low for their height, but like you said weight loss is very personal. My original goal with MRC was 145. We (me and counselor) picked that number as it was right in the middle of their calculation of a healthy range. But, as your body fat drops, so does the calculation. 28% of higher weight=a higher goal weight. As that 28% is applied to lower weights, the healthy range drops, too. A couple of weeks ago I talked to the same counselor I started with, and we agreed to lower my goal to 140. She recalculated my healthy range after losing 40 pounds, and now it's about 135-145 (I can't remember exactly), so 140 is still in the middle. That discussion was also prompted by the fact that at 145 I would still be in the 'overweight' category of the BMI tables I was looking at.

I can barely comprehend getting to 140 (less than my 16 year old athlete weighs!!), much less into the 130's. I've decided to just wait and see. Supposedly I'll start the stabilization process when I get to about 150...8.5 more pounds. That scares me a little since my goal would still be 10 pounds away, but I've decided to trust the process. It has worked so far. My goal for this is to be at a healthy weight but not so low that life will always be about total deprivation when it comes to food. I need something I can live with and maintain.

I am not at my goal weight but am supposed to be starting stabilization because I hit the acceptable bodyfat% and BMI. I am probably 5-6 lbs away from goal weight. I am scared to start stabilization being above my goal, in that my weight loss will slow down now unless I really ramp it up even more in my workouts. Also now that I am getting closer to goal I may want to even go farther than that, but my center just says to stabilize and I will continue to lose. Having a tough time because adding carbs has already affected my weight. I also went to a wedding over the weekend and did induldge in a few glasses of wine and a small piece of cake, but that has thrown my week of completely because then on Monday I had pizza at dinner. I feel like it's getting out of hand and I know all I have to do is go back on program.... but I'm afraid of the carbs! Eeek.

Lizg46 - I know from last time and the friends that I had doing this with me that they lost about 7 pounds during stabilization; they also teach you in maintenance what to do if you want/need to loose a little more. I would trust them to do what is right by you!

Jewliek, that is good to know about maintenance. I was thinking about extending if I am not at 135 by Thanksgiving(which I know I wont be) but maybe I can just do it during maintenance.

Another question. I lost 3 lbs in my 7 days of stabilization, but now I am kind of stuck, scale going up and down 2lbs each way. Could I have already hit a plateau?

jeweliek: when i went in for my consultation and filled out the personal info, i put down 155 because i felt like that's the lowest i could get while still being able to comfortably maintain it. i say this because when i first lost a ton of weight in college (via low-carb), i got down to about 150 and couldn't stay there for more than a day or two at a time, no matter how i was eating. i think i am just tall enough (5'8) and sturdily built enough that i'm not meant to go any lower than that! anyway, during my consultation after weighing in, my girl went over the specifics of determining a goal weight and she said i was dead on. :) 155 is somewhere in the middle of my healthy BMI range and it's something that i'm not scared to try to maintain and also that i think will look good on me, because silly as it sounds, 150 looked like a bag of bones! hehe

I'm sure someone that actually has gone thru stabilization will help here, but from what I know they will have you repeat your stabilization diet week if you don't lose or maintain. They really have you watch what you are eating so that you can see what causes problems and triggers more eating for you!

Oh....preconditioning is different for everyone. From your ticker it looks like you have been dieting and making a great difference for a long time. I bet that you won't see much now....but wait until you hit the diet....you will smoke them.

It is best to go to stabilization at 26% body fat or less.....they will let you sooner, but say that you have a much better chance of keeping the weight off at this point. You will still lose during stabilization and they will help you and teach you to keep it off or lose a bit during maintenance. It cannot be a significant amount tho. Talk to the center. I bet they will help you.

Seems like I received my first week of stabilization menu but didn't really know what to expect and then had a weekend that threw it all off too. at my food meeting, i bought three powders (grapefruit [EW!!], pink lemonade [meh], and chicken bouillon [haven't tried yet]) and three concentrates (peach mango, mixed berry, and cranberry green tea) and i LOVE the concentrates. i'd like to swap out my powders for concentrates at the center but i have a feeling there won't be any concentrates in the swap basket, hehe. the hot chocolate is the only creamy i have to drink (i also bought cream of tomato and cream of chicken for cooking) but i'm going to buy all three pudding flavors and espresso. and probably a ton more concentrates.

I just started taking the Iodine pills....I am hypothyroid and read in US Weekly that Iodine is laking especially in people with hypothyroid as your body cannot produce it without your thyroid. I took the article to my doctor. She said that it isn't proven but sees no reason why I shouldn't try. She also said that you don't get much Iodine in your diet these days....that it is mainly removed from food. That same week they started advertizing it at my center. The girls there don't ask me to buy supplements anymore. They know I normally will not buy extra. I asked them and I love how I feel. I am not as exhausted, I am not as irritable either (my husband says that is worth its weight in gold) and I am just plain more myself! I would recommend it!!!

The peach mango is a little strong for me, but makes the best smoothies. I do that, 2 oz cottage cheese and frozen raspberries (if I haven't had soda I will use diet cream soda instead of water) and blend. YUM!!!!

Mixed berry in Diet caffiene free cola tastes like Cherry coke that I am missing!!!

and don't forget that all of the concentrates can be used over shaved ice for a snow cone!!!!

Jewelie,

All centers should have a chart showing a range which are the standards. These aren't set by MRC, but I forget which government department sets them. You can search on line as well and will come up with a multitude. It isn't necessarily the weight that MRC looks at. They want us to be at a healthy bmi.

I'm 5' 7.5" and recently talked to one of the counselors, and have my goal set at 160. This puts me in the healthy bmi range, but at the higher end. My goal is to look healthy and when I get to 160, if I look like I need to lose another few pounds then I will. I don't want to lose so much that I look sick. I'll see if I can remember where these standards come from and let you know.

Teresa

Try the same quesadilla recipe except w/o the chicken and instead with a 3 oz buffalo burger patty (grilled/cooked), warm as instructed and then add spicy mustard, lettuce and tomato if you like... It's like the quesadilla burger you can get at Chili's or Applebees! Yummo!

OK, so I'm a little confused about all of this as well. Initially, the set a goal of 172 for me b/c that would was what I could afford to pay for at the time, 17 weeks of program would probably get me there. I am 5' 6" and I had set my own goal of 150, which I've told them about and no one has argued with this or recommended anything else. I picked 150 b/c I looked sickly and emaciated in the 130's in the past so I knew that would likely be too thin and When they printed my last Tanita, it said 155 should be my final goal weight.... hmmm... This is kind of confusing b/c I'm only 5'6 and it seems everyone elses goal is the same as mine but they're quite a bit taller. When I checked the BMI for 155, it would be 25 and just into the "overweight" category. At 150, just into the normal category at 24.2. Interesting, I wonder if the last person that did the Tanita put in the right height for me?? I'll have to check on that I guess. Ultimately, whenever my husband asks me what my goal weight is or how much more I want to lose, I just tell him I'll keep losing until I'm at a point where I think I look my best, am most comfortable and in a healthy range - whether that's 140, 150 etc... We'll find out in the end :0)

Ok....here is what I know.....the tanita will tell you what weight you should be at 26% body fat. It is an estimate. As I lost weight that number went lower. It really isn't based on BMI. 26% BMI is the top % of the ideal weight in that category. It is the percent of fat on you. You want that 26 or less to help you keep your weight off. I think anything below 18 is considered underweight.

My reading showed I should be at 146. I changed it to 130 because that is where I feel I would be the healthiest. At one time I weighed 108 but that was after boot camp and I felt very sick all the time. Then I had 3 kids, got out of the military, got divorced, went to nursing school and had been slowly expanding the whole time. I remember being 130 and that was the best I felt.
Also when calculating where you should be for BMI, check your height and your frame. Found this on a website when researching gastric bypass.

The easy way to figure out if you are small, med or large frame is to take your middle finger and your thumb and wrap it around the wrist of the opposite arm. If they overlap, small frame, just touch, med frame and don't touch, large frame. This is not the most accurate and not sure if it takes into account if your body fat has overtaken the bony areas but it is fun.

Hello all! I am beginning to get a bit frustrated. I finished preconditioning and have been on the yello menu since Monday and now I am on the blue. I will begin the green menu on Wednesday, but I am considering just going ahead with the green menu today. I have been OP except not eating all the raw veg that is required. I have not lost since the 3lbs on preconditioning. I went to WI yesterday and found that I am up .5 lbs!:( I think I might be retaining some water from exercise and maybe I have had too much sodium sneaking in my diet with eating taco seasoning (got the spicy kind and did not realize it was sooo high in sodium). Or could I already be on a plateau? My at home keeps going between 196 and 199. UGGH! Any advise?

I plan to stay OP but want to start seeing some lbs come off. I hope I am not in starvation mode from the small amount of calories on the yellow and blue menu....:?:

I will be having to purchase more HNS's today at WI, and I have heard about purchasing them on line being much cheaper...I guess I am confused, because if I heard right, if you buy 10 boxes, it is $90. I wonder if that was just a special at the Food Class to new members or if that is all the time? I will find out, but isn't that the same price on line?

At first I was adding a bit of water to the packet after I had squeezed all the HNS out that I could - adding water 3 times got almost all the HNS out. The I started using a silicone spatula (or something with a flat surface) to push the remaining HNS toward the hole. Doing this two or three times got enough of the HNS out I could throw the plastic away. I have been known to tear it open and lick all the mixed berry off the plastic, but I am quite perverted.

Case in point, I like the grapefruit powder althought after the first week, I always put a Mixed Fruit Fiber packet in with the grapefruit with 8-9 oz cold water. I cut a corner off the powdered packets to pour the powder into my water bottle, then I cut the whole end off and a slit up the center of one sid and tear the two flaps open carefully because there always seems to be some powder left inside. I carefully fold the packet in half and pour the remaining powder in the water bottle (and then I lick the inside of the packet, especially the fiber - see I told you I was a pervert!) I figure, as much money as I'm spending on these HNSs I want all the goodness I can get out of them!! jeanette

That seems very reasonable. I won't push what I was concerned about as I don't want to cause a prob., but what if you had told them that you wanted to be 100 or less....would they have told you that could/would be unhealthy. What if I went in and said I wanted to be the 130 that I was in high school; would they guide me away from that goal? Would my body stop in the 150/160 range and stay in a plateau for a long while to give me time to change my mind? This is what I would hope it would do.

Oh hon....don't get frustrated. I hate to tell you this but if you are not eating ALL (and I mean ALL) of the food your body will not lose (may even gain). It is because you are not getting very many calories and if you don't eat it all it will send your body into starvation mode....it will hold on to everything you have because it is afraid it won't get enough later! Watch this.....I would stay on the blue menu and eat everything on it.....make sure you are getting everything that you are supposed to and see the scale move.

I do the 10 for $90 all the time. It is on going! Sometimes you can get it online for $7.99 or less depending on how much you buy and if it is on special.

Jeanette, I have been none to freeze the mixed berry and eat it like that...and it is the kind I keep in my purse. Even if there is no water, I can have that HNS because I will just suck it down. LOL

Thanks, JewlieK for your encouragement. I have decided in order to get everything my body needs I am going to just start the green menu. I know there is no way I can eat 8oz of raw veg, so instread of not eating enough I will just bypass the rest of the blue menu and not tell them. I am not really sure what the purpose of the yellow and blue menus are except to jump start weight loss.

As jeweliek said the 10 for $90.00 are always available. The online website I have used it dietdirect.com and I purchased the concentrates when they were on sale for $7.99 a box. Purchase 12 and price went to $7.59 a box, Orders totalling $99.00 and you get an additional 10% off. And free shipping kicks in at $79.00. I think I got 13 boxes and the total dropped to around $89.00, sorry I don't remember the exact amount

They have different sales each week, starting on Monday. I purchased concentrates sometime in July--very fast shipping ordered on Wednesday got them on Friday. I don't know what the rotation of their sale ads are however; as I haven't seen the concentrates on sale since then. At that price a box is just under $7.00--***

My mom and I (who's also doing MRC with me) went together and puchased 48 boxes and actually ended up getting them for something like $5.75 or somewhere very close to that a box. I know not everyone can afford to do that or has someone else to split the cost, but if I see that again you bet I'm going to buy them!

To keep the center 'happy', we also go in together and purchase the 10/$90 and split the cost. It's worked so far.

here's a question: i checked out dietdirect.com but can't figure out where the MRC supplements are. i know they're probably not branded "metabolic research center" on this site since MRC sells its own stuff, but what brands are the equivalent, and where on the site should i look for them? sorry, i know this is a total newbie question, but uhh.... i'm a total noob :)

Under Categories look at Protein diet foods and select what you are looking for concentrate, bar, drink, etc.

Products will either be Bariwise or Protidiet or Wonderslim. Best thing to do is to sit with an MRC package and compare products. Click on the product label and it will bring up a tab that has supplement facts. Use that to make your determinations

I have been on this plan almost a week, and I'm having a hard time getting down eggs and cheese every morning...sure sounds like alot of eggs. Next Friday, our cooking class is focusing on breakfasts, so hopefully that will help. Oh how I miss a cup of Grape Nuts and skim milk.

If anyone has any suggestions on breakfast...I am all ears....(oh my....if that's true, I have some dang fat ears)

How about french toast Fifties Lady?
Here ya go:

1 piece of light bread
1 egg
cinnamon
sugar free/fat free/calorie free waldens farm syrup

Whisk one egg in a bowl. Add 1/4 tsp of cinnamon and whisk again. Place bread in egg mixture, turn after 1 minute, allow bread to absorb as much egg mixture as possible. Spray skillet with Pam butter spray and place over med-high heat. Slide bread into pan and sprinkle with additional cinnamon if desired. Cook on each side until deep golden brown or to personal preference. Serve with 1 tsp or 2 of SF/FF/CF syrup. Yummo! I eat a scrambled or boiled egg with this to get full protein serving.

How about some amazing cheesecake? Recipe should be posted in the Recipes section, if not let me know I'll be glad to add it :0)

Do you have the recipe book? If not, I can post some recipes from it for you.

I do have the cookbook, and I'm going to sit down tomorrow and do some creative menu planning...I can't go another week like this, because it is so boring and not delicious at all. How do I find out if the syrup is on my plan? Thanks for your help.

That's a tricky one... every center is different it seems... my center is ok with it just limiting it to no more than 2 tsp per meal of any type of walden farm FF/CF/Carb Free product including dressings etc. I've seen a few mention their centers do not recommend it while others actually use WF products in their cooking classes so who knows for sure. I started on the beige menu so once I got past preconditioning, I started using the WF products. Honestly though, I have purchased them all and the only one I actually like is the syrup. It really fills that void :0)

Hello all! I just wanted to pop in and say hello. I signed up at MRC yesterday and started preconditioning this morning. I have 30 pounds to lose and I'm looking forward to it!

Welcome. So glad you found us! Yes the veggies will be your friend or enemy. depends on how you view it. My favorite receipe for them are the basil tomato salad, try it when you can have tomatos. Not sure if it in the cookbook but will post it on the receipe thread.

I don't remember what color menu you're on yet but here's one suggestion that I'm not sure if you've tried yet: "fry" your egg in Pam in a teflon pan, and then put it on your slice of bread with some of the cheese.

Yesterday was WI...and it was a good thing because you would never believe what I had to deal with at work. Thursday was pot luck for the office staff, which smelled so good while I sat at my desk and ate a lettuce salad with a boiled egg and cheese with very little dressing. YUMMY!!! Someone in the morning even brought a dozen doughnuts in and they sat by the check out board next to this big bowl of chocolate with little candy bars and all sorts of chocolate goodies. This sits there everyday and is always getting refilled by staff. But since I have started MRC, I walk pass it without putting my hand in the bowl. Yesterday, some of the doughnuts were still there, along with two containers of Elieen's Fresh Baked Cookies, trail mix which were left over from the pot luck yesterday. I went downstairs to refill my water jug and there were homemade white chocolate brownies with frosting, chips and doughnut holes. TALK ABOUT WILL POWER!!!! You know, if I wasn't dieting, I probably would have gained a good 5 pounds just from tasting all that was there....I am so proud of myself....someone was testing me!!! But let me tell you....it was ****!!!

i weighed in today and was down another 4 pounds, so 8 altogether! and this is only day 7. however, i weighed in the morning today, whereas i usually weigh in the evening, so i'm hoping it won't make a huge difference when i go to weigh in next. and also today i ate some things that were probably fine but still feel like maybe they weren't quite OP, so hopefully i didn't do any damage, eek! tomorrow and the next few days, i will be sure to be extra-clean.

I am not much of a drinker of anything, I am rarely thirsty so I forget to drink a lot of the time except for meals....I have tried new water bottles, measuring out the amount I need for the day and trying to get to the end of the pitcher, etc...I work in health care so we are not allowed to keep water in sight. Thank You so much everyone for all the great comments and support :0)

Fifties lady, I am honored to be an inspiration to you. I remember when I had first started MRC I too found people here inspiring, especially those with goals similar to mine and that is exactly what has helped me get this far so I am delighted if I can be that for you too. You can do this FL, the key is to just stick to it. BTW, I am really impressed with your resilience in the workplace, is that a common spread of food around your place or was this just an unusual day in the office?? I am so proud of you for walking by all those goodies, it's hard but will be so worth it... While everyone else is scarfing them down you'll be quietly eating the foods you know will get you to goal and a few mo. from know they'll be so surprised and wonder how you did it ... WAY TO GO!!

Genell,
I never did like to take pics either... most of my adult life I have deleted pics that involved me (the joys of digital cameras) if it involved more than my shoulders up so sadly we do not have alot of pics with me in them. Apparently my hubby has been stashing some for just this opportunity. He had to fish around to find a before pic of me but managed to find one. Anyways, DH has been bugging me for a 2 yrs to get family pics done and I kept putting it off but I finally feel comfortable enough to go for it. One of my many reasons to lose this weight was exactly this, so I no longer have to hide from the camera at family functions, in family pics etc. I was tired of being ashamed of myself on the outside. I'm not exactly jumping into photo ops yet but at least I'm willing to let someone take a pic for memory sake!! Another goal accomplished on my goal list, quite a few more left to keep me going :0)

Hey loveamy,
I'm in a similar predicament... I work with a nurse that has a 72 oz bubba keg from walmart, fills it up each am and drinks that throughout the day. It's in a very secure container and she sips on it throughout the day so I'm thinking of getting this as well. We are allowed to have water in our workspace but if you're not, maybe get a paper cup and like you said, drink 8 oz every other pt or 4 oz between each pt. Good luck :0)

I can totally understand how you are feeling about the junk food all around you. Since I began, there has been excursions & nights where the family had pizza, Dairy Queen, cupcakes, cake, or some other treat that I would just love to take a bite of. I am looking forward to the day when I can have a bite and it not throw me into a tailspin. Let's keep up the willpower wall and hope that the stones are little pebbles and not huge boulders. :)
