And you can imagine what that does for a girl with food issues! Haha. Thank goodness I have 3FC to keep me occupied!

I'm looking forward to another good week of weight loss. I hope everyone else is too!

When I watch Food Network, it makes me want to look up recipes on their website. Once I get involved in that, I can't stop clicking on links to other recipes. It drives me crazy for food, but I'm too distracted by more recipes to make any of it!

I find that watching other people work with food, or doing cooking myself, actually can KEEP me from eating when I'm snacky. Of course, it may sometimes trigger a craving, but usually it'll resolve itself quickly.

It's one of the top-watched channels in my house. I love watching for new ideas for flavor combinations...most of the recipes there can be made a LOT lighter, with way less oil, but using the same flavors.

I love it too! I like getting ideas for techniques as well. I've learned a lot about cooking and the science of cooking from some shows!

A whole network dedicated to cooking? Ooooh, that sounds so good, I would so watch that all the time!
Like Amanda said, not for exact recipes but for new ideas, flavors, ingredients and techniques.
Just because I am being careful with what I eat doesn't mean my food has to be boring and flavorless!

My hubbys new favorite show is "Man vs. Food" on the travel channel, and it is Food Pornography at it's best. The host could make a turd look good! I refuse to watch it. That show and many of the Food Network shows are not about cooking they are about restaurants that serve huge amounts of food. Many are not about cooking, they are about massive eating! I will not watch those types of programs anymore. It's too painful for me. I still like the good ol' "how to put it together" shows. I have a feeling if your BF is anything like my hubby it's not "cooking" shows on Food Network he enjoys...it's the "food" shows.

i love paula deen. Her food is just outrageous. I only made one dish from here ever, but it was soooo goood. Maybe a little dangerous though. ;)

my husband and i saw some other shows on the travel channel (top 10 places to pig out) that also show crazy amounts of food. I never get the draw of that myself.

Yeah the Travel Channel has some pretty outrageous shows about extreme eating but I tend to think the Food Network is more about cooking, maybe not always cooking healthy but definitely not about extreme pigging out.

I am and always will be a foodie! I have started watching the cooking shows on FIT TV though. Some amazing ideas come across there that are "on-plan" for me. There are also some shows that are somewhat health concious on Food Network.

As a girl of the south, I do love Paula Dean. But her ingredient choices are unnecessary so I don't do her stuff anymore. For years, I prepared dish after dish from her suggestions though.

I like the Food Network as well, but I have a serious addiction to Top Chef!

I LOVE the food network. The Food Network challenges with the cake-OMG. I am so impressed with what some people can do with my favorite food ever. I do watch the food shows for ideas and technique tips. I have learned so many food prep tips from Rachel Ray I don't know how I ever did stuff before. Because of huge food restrictions (health not weightloss), I have become a pro at adjusting recipes to make them fit my plan so I can usually add in adjustments to make stuff healthier...except Paula Dean's cooking, I just don't know if there are enough substitutions in the world to make her food healthy. Her recipes are more of a very special occasion and eat very, very small servings.

I would agree with that--PD dishes are for a very special occasion and for small servings indeed.

I actually stopped watching because I was constantly hungry while watching it.... I sometimes watch Iron chef still- but usually skip it now...

That's one of my favorite shows!! For me though I can watch it because he overindulges so much it always ends with him looking or getting sick. It reminds me of how that food makes me feel! Food porn without the guilt or sick tummy!

I'm another one that loves the Food Network. It has been my cooking class and has taught me so much about food over the years. I find that many recipes can be tweaked or scaled down to fit into a healthy eating plan. Well, probably not Paula Deans cooking. Good grief I recently watched her show dedicated to butter. It was obscene!

I love the challenge shows, Iron Chef, The Next Food Network Star, Chopped, and several of the cooking shows that show really great food. I am a foodie and always will be. I just got to learn to make it low cal.

I absolutely love the Food Network. I have learned so many wonderful cooking techniques. I can make a grilled steak better than any restaurant we go to & can thank Alton Brown for that.

Although, sometimes I do get too hungry watching that channel. Maybe we have more of a love/hate thing going on ;)

Paula's shows, Man vs. Food and Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives do nothing for me...it just AMAZES me how people can eat that way, and reminds me that I USED to eat that way. Just kinda gross now...
