Default What's your favorite form of cardio?

Hi there! I've been doing cardio at least 3 days a week (strength training 3 days and 1 day off) and for the past 8 weeks have been doing a HIIT workout alternating fast walking and jogging/running (not quite up to full blown running and sprints just yet).

The 8 week routine I was doing is over as of today and now I'm looking for another form of cardio to do. I like to mix things up every month or two so it doesn't get boring. Having a set timeline for workout programs has been fun and gives me a nice goal to focus on.

So, what are your favorite cardio workouts? Oh, I should mention I have a treadmill, dvd player and no gym membership and well...that's it.

Thanks in advance for your input!

My fav is just plain running During the summer I run on my treadmill before my kids get up and when it gets nicer plus kids in school I'll go to the local track.

Hee hee, I was afraid someone was going to say running! I'm not quite there yet--bad knee, but it's getting better...perhaps I should try the C25K?

Thanks for chiming in!

I have a messed up knee too (jumped from a boat to a dock and well about missed the dock ) but I just put a brace on it.

I started with c25k and will run 3-5 miles a day now depending on how much I can squeeze in.

I also like to swim laps (lately it's been with kids on my back, ugh) and dare I say jumping on their trampoline? lol

Ya know what? I'm gunna do it! Heck, I used to run cross country in H.S. (not that I was really all that good at it, but still, I did it ) and there's no reason I can't run long distances again!

Thank you for replying and I gotta say, your quote hits the nail on the head! After I read it I headed right over to the C25K site and checked it out!

Running...ready or not legs...here we come!

Thanks again!

I'd still love to hear what everyone's faves are, so keep 'em coming! After all, after the C25K, I'm going to be looking for something new to do!

Chunkychic~ I've got AE Active and haven't done a single workout yet--was waiting until this month was over to switch things up. I will check out what it has to offer in terms of cardio--I know there's a 30 day challenge in there somewhere.

Thanks for the input!

Tanee~ ooh, jumping on the trampoline sounds fun! The swimming with kiddos on your back...not so much.
Thanks again!

My friend just started kickboxing at her gym--she says she loves it! I'll have to see what cool DVDs I can find! Thanks for the suggestion!

I love the elliptical and cycling. I hate to sweat, but I do feel I accomplished something when I look at my yucky shirt afterwards LOL

I don't have a favorite. I like to mix it up to keep from getting bored. I alternate among:
Dance DVDS
Tae Bo DVDS
WATP DVDs
Walking outdoors
Gold's Gym Cardio Workout (wii)
My Fitness Coach (wii)

I work out at a gym and LOVE spin class at the moment. But that doesn't help you in the least.... Have you checked out the Fitness Videos section here?

i would suggest to check out exercisetv.tv they have some 20 - 30 min work outs that you can down load for any where from $2 - $4 dollars and you can watch them first the whole routine if you are interested in some thing like that.

dancing, swimming, power walking (i NEVER walk slow) roller skating, jumping on a trampoline :P anything fun.

boring: anything indoors when you are stuck in one place.

HARD, but like the challenge : jogging. I am NOT a runner.

Default Ideas for 2010?

This is what I'm looking for. I'd be interested in hearing more ideas for cardio that doesnt involve going to the gym?

Any new ideas?
