GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!

Will post my usual morning post sometime later, but wanted to make sure I got our
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM, I really liked the message this one gives:

http://members.aol.com/debelli/monday_morning_thought.jpg

FINISH STRONG

The person who wins the race does not slow down, but speeds up, when nearing the end. When the challenges become more difficult, the winning response is to become more determined.

Achievement belongs to those who finish strong. Achievement comes to those who give one hundred percent of the effort required, all the way to the finish line.

What does it take to finish strong? It takes commitment and a positive sense of purpose every step of the way. Many people start strong, with lots of enthusiasm. Yet their own complaints and doubts along the way drain them, so that there's nothing left as they're nearing the goal.

Winners finish strong because they value and appreciate the opportunity to make the effort. Winners finish strong because they carry a strong sense of positive purpose all the way to the finish line.

Start strong, stay strong, and finish strong by always remembering why you're doing it in the first place.

-- Ralph Marston

Have a wonderful day, and a fabulous week!!!!!

A special greeting to the fellow Canadians of the board who are celebrating Canada Day today..have fun!

My parents left early this morning and things should get back into order now. We are going to a historical settlement today called King's Landing to end our vacation.

I still haven't weighed in and am leaving that for tomorrow. I want to start back right and I think that today may present too many temptations. In any case, I am looking forward to some order and control in my eating.

ROSALIE- That is the video I am talking about...by Leslie Sansone. They are new into the Superstores and are packaged into 3 different ones under the title *Walk Away the Pounds* but with subtitles of 1 mile, 2 mile and 3 mile. Thanks for the review because I will keep all three of them.

KIMMYTHEKID- I didn't read up on the week I missed so forgive me. Just wanted to see how you are doing and if you are hanging in there. My Dad was very talkative and expressed a clear desire to be saved but didn't actually get redeemed yet..we are really praying for him. It was a wonderful time with our kids and my parents, a true blessing. Thanks for praying.

I will have to catch up by just starting with this new weeks posts. I couldn't even find the posts for last week until I found the link that someone, I forget who, posted under something else. I will get used to it though once I figure it out! Have a great day!

I'm with Gracious. I'm going to start from scratch this week and hope to be able to keep up this time.

Neo spent his first night at home last night. We have the crate in the bedroom and a sheepskin bean bag type bed in the living room. He's totally made himself at home in both of them. Being only 9 weeks old he plays HARD for about 30-45 minutes and then sleeps for about an hour. We're still learning which looks are just checking out the new pad and which ones are looking for a place to piddle. Giving the Febreeze a run for it's money. Meister had to work today. I'm working from home (puppy leave for a few days) so I stayed in the room with him. He would whine every hour or so but then calm back down and go back to sleep. I'm hoping he'll whine less tonight so Mom can get some sleep. He's just adorable and really learning his way around.

We go on vacation in 2 weeks and the breeder will have him back for a week while we're gone. Then we close on the house when we get back and start packing stuff up to move it down 3 houses.

195 DAYS TILL THE WDW HALF MARATHON!!!!

I was pathetic this week-end. Between puppy visits and house hunting my training has been sporatic at best. I did walk myh 3.7 miles on Thursday and tried to do the loop twice for 7.4 miles, but could barely make it around once! I had to stop and rest at one point. :?: That's not going to cut it if I'm going to have the speed I need to be able to finish the race.

FROG, MEL, DEBBIE....How are y'all coming with your training??? DEBBIE, how's the weight trianing? I'll be that's really helped tone things up for you!

Well, I've got to run. Nap time is up and we have to go outside. :^:

 have a great day everyone!!

Hi ladies,

I'm heading to my treadmill in a few minutes. Too hot outside to walk. Heading to the grocery store later, after I drop 2 of my kids off at a summer track program. Going to 2 fourth of July parties and need to start thinking of what to bring.

Great motivational message and so true.

Happy Canada Day to the Canadian ladies.

Solshine-I had to go back and reread your post because I thought you were talking about a child!! Silly me. It takes me awhile to catch on. Neo saounds cute.

Keep cool today everyone.

Good morning everyone!

I liked the poll this week--I can't wait to hear of everyone's media adventures. I checked other because I've done a lot of local PBS/public affairs talk shows regarding politics--which is not exactly news. I was also on the news just last week. When my niece and I were in New York last year we were on Good Morning America (studio audience--a former student works for GMA). I've also done some political talk shows for NPR.

OK that was WAY more than you wanted to know! I would love to hear everyone else's adventures--good question Deb!

Went to the store yesterday to stock up on good healthy foods--something I haven't done for a while. All food in the house is SB acceptable! Now as long as I don't have to leave the house I should be just fine.:^:

I can't believe it is July already--wow. I haven't done one single summer thing yet--no cookouts (will do on Thursday). no swimming, no beach, no vacation. Oh well, I will get to the beach later this month when I go on vacation.

How is everyone doing? I haven't had a chance to check yesterday's board to see the final posts for the week. Will do so later and try to get back on.

Have a good day everyone--remember today is all you need. Let's all of us try to not worry about tomorrow--today is quaite enough!

What an awesome week and weekend I had! First of all, I went to see Billy Graham 3 times. I can not come close to putting it into words about how moving it was. One night was a youth night and a concert. The others were regular w/ short concerts. I could go on and on...but I won't.
I also spent a lot of time w/ some neat kids that are pretty new to our church, and that was a blessing.

Weight wise, I sweated so much Fri, Sat, and Sun, I have actually lost a pound. All the walking to and from and in the Billy Graham, it is no wonder. I have found some other pretzles that I love but they are not really op...but I am totally addicted. They are made w/ honey, but has 2 grams per serving of sugar....so not too bad. Also they are Snyders organic.

Gracious....
So glad to hear about your time w/ kids and parents. sounds like you had a really nice time! Glad to hear your dad is asking...keep on praying....I will. I am doing well....did you go into your profile and change the private message setting? If not, do so. There is more I would love to share w/ you.

You know I was totally lost Saturday trying to find this place and post. I like the set up better. I have never been on tv but was in a magazine with a rock band when I was 16. A group called Quiet Riot. I was in the center fold....WITH CLOTHES ON!!!!!!!!

Hope everyone is well!

Hello!

It is always nice to start the week off with a good, inspirational message. Thanks Deb, for all the time you put into it. Is there someone that helps you with the board or do you get all the credit for such a good job?

I'm going to get caught up with some posts from the weekend before I start with the new week, so..........

BOB, that was a great idea about using the paper towel on the grill to help with the clean up. I tried it last night and it sure made a difference. Thanks for the tip! WOW, some wild dreams you've been having. Now I am curious about the one you can't tell me about. Guess I will just have to use my vivid imagination.
Have you seen The Majestic yet? Tranquil and I tried to watch it Saturday night, however, it was either slow and boring or else we were too distracted with trying to put together the cage for the Guinea Pigs. I may need to try to watch it again before returning it to the video store.

Debbie, I love the idea of a slumber party! What fun that would be! Maybe we can plan a visit before school starts here again, which is August 7. It is easier for me to plan to get away when my daughter is out of school. Hope the problems with the new store get worked out soon. The idea of BOB coming for a visit at the same time and stirring up some trouble sounds like a great time to me:D

Quilter, I was actually talking about carrying a small porta potty strapped to me like a backpack, however, Tranquil would disown knowing me for some reason if I did that. I don't like using the depends, although I have at times as my doctor says my bladder has spasms for some weird reason  You asked if Tranquil and I knew each other before SB. We met about two years ago when I "cat tested" her greyhound, Fluffy, before she adopted her. I used to do a lot of volunteer work for our local Greyhounds as Pets group, known as GAP. One of my many jobs was to bring grehounds home to spend the night to see if they were friendly or aggressive towards cats. My two felines were more than happy to help with the testing  It is something that many people need to know before bringing a greyhound into their home. After all, the hounds are trained to chase furry little things that run. Anyway, she adopted Fluffy and I have 3 greyhounds of my own. We have become the best of friends since that time and are lucky enough to get to do lots of things together. We started SB at the same time, however, she joined the board before I did as I was a little timid about doing so. So, now that I've given you more info than you probably wanted to know, that is our story! How is the painting coming along? I can't wait to get started on my house.

Solshine, the new puppy sounds adorable. It must be a lot like having a new baby in the house. Did you pick the name "Neo" and does it have any particual meaning? Or, is it meant to be the prefix that means recent or new?

Fillise, sounds like you've had some very interesting media adventures. You must come in contact with a lot of unique people with being involved in politics. How long have you been a consultant? My media adventures have been very short and not too interesting. When I was a kid, there was a local morning cartoon show with Bozo the clown. The show had groups of kids on live each morning and my elementary school class went once. Everyone got introduced by saying their own name. Woohoo! The other time I was at our local PBS station for their yearly fund raising event. Our Greyhouds as Pets volunteers were taking phone calls for pledges and we were shown on TV briefly. So much for my few minutes of fame.

Gracious, Happy Canada Day to you and anyone else from there!

gymnut, I'm with you on using the treadmill inside. I don't have one at home but my gym is just down the street from me. Much too humid to be out in this Florida heat, plus we have been having a lot of rain lately.

Kimmytk, glad to hear that you had such a wonderful time at the Billy Graham Crusades. I wish I could find some of those good pretzels that so many of you speak of.

Well, I think I am caught up for now. Hi there to everyone else that I haven't posted to yet.

Take care,
Wendy

I'm holding my breath until Wednesday at 5 pm! Whew! I'm in for another craaaaaaaaaazy week (although short, since I'm off Thursday and Friday). We're launching the new area of the website in two weeks. Aaaargh!

Just thought I'd do a quick check-in. My weight's hovering at barely above the 180 mark on the scale - I'm hoping I can get it to drop below by WIW. Especially because DAN got on the stupid scale yesterday and said, "Hey honey, I'm at 179!" So that's 22 lbs. he's lost, without even trying.

I've made the appt. to cut my hair short on Friday morning, so wish me luck! I'll see if I can get a "before" and "after" shot to post for you guys. :D

Gotta run - back to the grindstone.

Hugs,

Jenn

Happy Monday everybody (and boy is it ever!).

Deb, get me to the dungeon, quick! Friday night, hubbie wanted catfish. Not too awful, you say. Ah but you forget about the wonderful hushpuppies that this place makes. Then Saturday, there was the Mexican food, chips, margaritas. Yikes! Yesterday was much better. Made whole wheat pancakes from scratch and did burgers on the grill for dinner. Just used half of a bun (legal).
I did manage to work out yesterday and Saturday and I've been piling on the water today.

Jordan got home Saturday. He had a terrific time. If there were any doubt about him joining the Marines, next year, this cinched it. I'm so proud of him but already scared to death.

Let me add my two cents on the new board format. It's great! I'm just not sure what I'm supposed to post where. What are we supposed to be using the "off the beaten path" board for? Sorry I'm easily confused.

I didn't know this was Canada Day. What is that by the way? Happy Canada Day. Also, what's everyone on this side of the border doing on the 4th? We're going to a minor league baseball game. After the game, they do fireworks. It's always a lot of fun.

Gotta run. Have a great day everyone!

Good afternoon,
Nice to hear from everyone. Day 2 of legality. No problems so far except dh whining. TELL ME I DIDN'T WHINE......LIE IF YOU HAVE TO. Anyway, I'm determined to be patient & long suffering. He had legal spaghetti, peanuts, & even made homemade bread for him. I told him to give it a week before making any judgements.
He is missing his Pepsi today.
Bob-yes, back for good. The fat & muscle picture was gross!!!!!
Marie-thanks. You find the best food to eat. I am happy and have learned just how unpleasant whining about dieting can be to listen to. So sorry all.
Sol-1/2 marathon! You go girl. Sounds like you'll not be alone either.
Well, have a good day. Check in tomorrow.
Love, Ally ('fly)
How serious do you think the July 4th threats are? The bases around here are on their highest level alert today.

Hi all!

Well I did it again, posted once last week, and disappeared. :p

Anyway, the mouth is still tender, but no more pain pills, and no more dentist visits. Yay! My only fear is that they will grow back! I have a friend who had 2 wisdom teeth grow back after extraction! She didn't take them out a second time.

Here's the MILK article from Reader's Digest:

"... Michael Zamel, chairman of the nutrition department at the Univ. of Tennessee in Knoxville. He's found that milk turns down the tendency of your fat cells to store the day's calories, and increases the amount frittered away as heat. A hard cheese like cheddar will do the same thing, as will yogurt, event the full-fat variety. ...Zemel arranged for some volunteers to get lenty of dairy and others to avoid the stuff for the sole purpose of monitoring their weight loss. He put 32 people, each with lots of weight to lose, on a diet. Nutritionists helped them cut ~500 calories from their daily meals. Some were asked to eat 3-4 servings of dairy daily. After 6 months all the dieters had lost weight. But those who added dairy lost more wieght than the others - 70% more. They shed an average of 19#, compared with 11# in the control group. What's more, the high-dairy group lost 64% more body fat than the other group did, trading flab for lean body mass. And the fat they shed came primarily from around their middle, the kind that's most dangerous to the heart....

It goes on to say that just taking Calcium supplements doesn't provide the same results as consuming dairy products. This group still they lost more than the control group, but not as much as the group consuming dairy. Zemel suggests 4 servings a day of milk, yogurt, or cheese...

Re: the poll - If you look in the bar scene of "Harley Davidson & the Marlboro Man" w/ Mickey Rourke, and Don Johnson, you'll see an UNDERAGED :o Tree selected as an extra in the bar. I've got one of those cool black leather motorcycle hats on. There was a clip where I gave Don Johnson a high five, but it didn't make it into the film.

Well, back to work.

Hey, I like the new
SB section on 3FC. We've come up in the world: our own section!!

Whats that little quick reply thingy down at the bottom of this page. Is that when you just have a sentence or 2 to post and don't want to go to a separate posting page?

Sol--are you moving to a house on your same street? It sounded like it was just 3 doors down. Were you renting before and now have bought? Let me know. That's cool if so.

We also bought a house today. We are helping our daughter because she earns so little that she can only afford about $500 per month for house pmts. So, we are helping her buy a house and found a really cute 2 bedroom, 1 bath place in Orlando. Boy, houses sure have gone up in price since the last time I bought one (30 years ago!).

Hope every one has a great week of losing.

Hello Everyone!

Happy Monday to you all. Well, today was a very tired day. We worked like crazy all day yesterday. The kitchen walls look great. But they do need a second coat. We have to wait til Wednesday to do that because we’re busy for the next two nights.

I’ve called the plumber and he’s coming by on Friday morning to check out this gas line in the kitchen. I’m so excited and keeping my fingers crossed that it’s in proper working order. If it is, we’ll go shopping for a new range this weekend.

SOLSHINE---Your new family member sounds great!!! Do we have pictures of our “precious” yet? I don’t envy you though. Puppies are adorable but a lot of work. Good thing you aren’t in your own house yet so that the initial peepee stains will be ancient history. One GREAT spot remover is an aerosol can of cleaner called Hot Shot or Hot Spot. The Queen of Clean said it was great for pet stains and I second her vote on that. I just got it at the grocery if you’re really in the need of a good stain remover. Hey, girl, you’ve got a lot going on, so don’t beat yourself up about your workouts. You know what you’ve got to do, so you will be back on track in no time!

FILLISE---I’ll vouch for the telephone version of the DETOX dungeon. It works. Got me back on the straight and narrow. Try it out if you need to.

KIMMYTK---Glad to hear that you made it safely through the BG visit on Thursday night. And so happy that you are now a downtown regular. Three times! That’s great! I heard it was wonderful. Saw a bit about it on the news. You MUST elaborate on the Quiet Riot picture! That sounds too good to pass up on! LOL

BOB---The paper towel on the GF is a GREAT idea! Thanks for sharing. I can’t wait to tell Paul about that, because cleaning GF is HIS job!

SERENE---I knew I liked you and TRANQ and now I know why. I love dogs and I love people who rescue dogs and who make dogs part of their family. I have a great admiration for greyhounds. They are beautiful creatures. Good friends of ours have a greyhound named Swap and he’s so precious and loving and gentle. Truly a joy to be around. We’ve always wanted a greyhound, but we don’t have a fenced in yard. Maddie (our German Shepherd Dog) is a wonder dog who knows exactly where to stop along our property line. Truly amazing! I’m so glad you got over your nervousness and joined the SB group. Now if you can just survive your workouts with TRANQ, you should have lots of success.

FLYGIRL---I don’t remember any whining from you . . . EVER!!! (Does that make you feel better?) Keep up the good work. You are back and eating the right stuff. I was just thinking the other day that I’m truly NOT hungry. Tell hubby that as soon as he detoxes from all that crazy sugar (especially those Pepsis) he will see a difference. My cravings are really gone. I hope that happens for him. You keep strong. You both can do it!

DEB---Thanks for the motivation. Very good. I like the idea of being strong and in control!!

Well, I hope you all have a great day! We’re going to a sneak preview of Men in Black II. Our neighbors gave us a free pass for two. Very cool, since we never go to movies because it’s so expensive. Since we worked so hard this weekend we really need a night of relaxation where all we can do is watch a movie. Take care.

HiedieHo All!!!!!

GRACIOUS: Happy Canada Day!

SOL: Cngrats are becoming a new "Mom". What did we ever do without some of the products that are available now?

FILLISE: How nice we have a celebrity in our midst. It wasn't more than we anted to know, it was interesting!

KIMMY: For a second there I thpought we had a Playboy girl!

SERENE: Great story! A sleek Greyhound? Fluffy?

TREE: Another celebrity! Glad your mouth is better.

Would it count as celebrity if I graduated with Jack Nicholson and was friends with Janet Schweickart, whose brother an astronaut was a class ahead of us?

I know many of you are not of the "older" generation but these thoughts might help when you reach that dubious distinction.

The first day of school our professor introduced himself and challenged us to get to know someone we didn't already know. _
I stood up to look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder. _I turned around to find a wrinkled, little old lady beaming up at me with a smile that lit up her entire being. _

She said, "Hi handsome. _My name is Rose. _I'm eighty - seven years old. Can I give you a hug?" _I laughed and enthusiastically_responded, "Of course you may!" and she gave me a giant squeeze. _

"Why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?" I asked. _She jokingly replied, "I'm here_to meet a rich husband, get married, have a couple of children, and then retire and travel." _

"No seriously," I asked. _I was curious what may have motivated her to be taking on this challenge at her age.

"I always dreamed of having a college_education and now I'm getting one!" she told me. _

After class we walked to the_student union building and_shared a chocolate milkshake. We became instant friends. _Every day for the next three months we would leave class together and talk nonstop. _I was always mesmerized listening to this "time machine" as she shared her wisdom and_experience with me. _

Over the course of the year, Rose became a campus icon and she easily made friends_wherever she went. _She loved to dress up and she reveled in the attention bestowed upon her from the other students. She was living it up. _At the end of the semester_we invited Rose to speak at our football banquet.

I'll_never forget what she taught us. _She was introduced and stepped up to the podium. _As she began to deliver her prepared speech, she dropped her_three by five cards on the floor. Frustrated and a little embarrassed she leaned into the microphone and simply said "I'm sorry I'm so jittery. I gave up beer for Lent and this whiskey is killing me! _ I'll never get my speech back_in order so let me just tell you what I know." _As we laughed she cleared her throat and began:

"We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop_playing. There are only four secrets to staying young, being happy, and achieving success.
"You have to laugh and find humor every day." "You've got to have a dream. _When you lose your dreams, you die. _

We have so many people_walking around who are dead_and don't even know it!" "There is a huge difference_between growing older and growing up. _If you are nineteen years old and lie in bed for one full yearand don't do one productive thing, you will turn twenty years old. If I am eighty-seven years old and stay in bed for a year and_never do anything I will turn eighty-eight. _Anybody can grow older. That doesn't take any talent or ability. _

The idea is to grow up_by always finding the opportunity in change." _"Have no regrets. _The elderly usually don't have regrets for what we did, but rather for things we did not do. The only people who fear death are those with regrets." She concluded her speech_by courageously singing "The Rose." She challenged each of us to_study the lyrics and live them out in our daily lives.

At the years end Rose finished the college degree she had begun all those years ago. _One week after graduation Rose died peacefully in her sleep. _Over two thousand college students attended her funeral in tribute to the wonderful woman
who taught by example that it's never too late to be all_you can possibly be. If you read this, please send

GROWING OLDER IS MANDATORY, _GROWING UP IS OPTIONAL. _

I hope I have grown up, but still have the wonder of my younger years!

TRISH...OH....MY....GAWD!!!! Is the DUNGEON MISTRESS every going to be after you...watch out for her whip..it stings a bit if you don't move as fast as she thinks you should be!

SERENE...It's not that I don't WANT to tell you about the dream, it's that I CAN'T remember anything but the scream...
Going to the DR in the morning so we'll see what she says..

Got laundry to go into the dryer...see ya later

Hi

Gracious - Happy Canada Day. Hope you had a fun day. I'm glad you mentioned the videos yesterday. I was actually motivated to get off my butt and start on the 2 Mile Walk. I didn't quite finish it, I got a bit tired after 1.5 miles but at least it is a start. It's been quite a while since I have done any "walking".

Solshine - Sounds like you are having fun with the new addition to the family. Aren't they adorable when they are so small.

Jenn - Here's hoping you can get the scale to move down by WIW. Doesn't it make you wanna spit that the guys can lose so much easier than we can.

Trish - Canada Day is to celebrate when the provinces united to become a country. This year is Canada's 135th anniversary.

Tree -Glad to hear the mouth is getting better. That's the first I have ever heard of wisdom teeth growing back. Thanks for posting the milk/calcium article. Maybe I will just concentrate on getting enough dairy and forget about taking calcium pills. Most of the time I forget to take them anyway. :o

Quilter - Enjoy the movie tonite. Glad to hear the painting is coming along. It's probably just as well that you will have a couple of days rest before putting on the next coat. Hope you are able to have the gas stove your are hoping for.

Sef - That was a great post.

I made the Sweet Potato Quiche again tonite and now have to go and get some of it ready for the freezer.

Marie.

Just thought I'd drop by again.... This last week has been bad for me - not that bad I suppose, but I did have a medium sized portion of bread at Macaroni Grill on Friday, and followed it up with eating Mexican on Saturday. Of course, there is a donut shop (my favorite local chain) that opened up right down the street THREE DAYS after I started SB, and I said if I was ever going to cheat, I wanted a donut to go with it. SO, that's what I did, and I recommited myself as of yesterday....

Needless to say, I am happily going through DT, and ready to be serious about losing weight! The scales were up 4 lbs. today, but I am having a particularly painful mid-cycle episode this month, so I hope it's just water weight. I suppoe I could always pretend that it was muscle gain, right :p

Anyway, I'm not spending much time online nowdays, but I wanted to drop in for a quick hello to everyone!

Have a great week :D

Hi all,

Glad to see all of you are doing well. I'm still trying to get it together so I can reply to diffrernt post. It's really hot here the humidity is very high. I think I'm going to try and do my walk video tonight. I had a great dinner I made brown rice with mushrooms and onions and I made chicken breast on my GF grill. I also made a salad.

Bob and Debbie- thanks for the hummus recipe. also Bob thanks for the tip on cleaning the Gf grill.

I have a 4th of July BBQ to attend so I'm bringing 2 SB legal sides. That way if nothing else is legal I can have those and a piece of meat.

I'm looking forward to chat tommorrow night. I hope to get to meet a few more of you. Have a great night!!!

Hi Fellow SBers!

I just got back from a walk - and it is absolutely gorgeous out! A wonderful breeze ..... I had grouper for dinner with a salad, and everyone else had grouper, shrimp and squash.... I really got the exercise in today and I still have not gone upstairs to do my tummy crunches... I am becoming a fiend!!!

I am going to do my best to catch up now :)

Gracious - OH CANADA!!!! HAPPY CANADA DAY, and to the rest of you wonderful neighbors!!!!!

Deb - Eager for a date to when we can visit Miami!

Mercy - Your dinner sounds absolutely yummy - perfect!

Adrons - I saw a Macaroni Grill in Orlando, but don't know much about it - what type of menu?

Rosalie - a 1.5 mile is a very good start! I think that was about all I could do when I first started walking - if even that far!!

BOB- I have been wanting to tell you, I take Paxil for anxiety, and I have not had a problem with the weight gain.... I think it is just different chemical compositions in people - because I have read some people gain, some lose.... Hope you find the right stuff! I cannot tell you how wonderful it feels to not be so panicked all the time!

Sef - that is sooo cool that you went to school with Jack Nicholson and knew an astronaut - and also I loved your post!!!! The reason my sleek girl is named Fluffy, her racing name was Task's Lemon Fluff. Lemon just does not work well when calling a hound, and she responded really well to Fluffy! hahaha

Quilter - How did you like the movie??????? By the way, I was listening to NPR on my way home from work one day and they discussed how dogs can help your social life... it was so incredible how a dog, any type of dog, attracts attention - people will talk to people with dogs! My girl is my pride and joy! I adopted her when she was already 4 years old, and she was a bounce back - nobody wanted to keep her, but I could NEVER understand that - she is the best - she is my soul dog!

Gator - What a nice mom!!!! Buying a home to help your child!!!

Tree - A regular movie star aren't you!!!!

VAButterfly - I have not noticed that our base is on high alert - they must be keeping a low key and hush hush about it - usually there is a lot of traffic, now I am going to have ask friends that work there what is going on....just out of curiosity - I live 2 miles from the naval air station...

Trish - Mexican and Margueritas sound absolutely wonderfully BAD!!!! hahaha

Jenn - Good luck with your hair cut - and with the up and coming WIW!!!!

Serene - I won't make fun of the Bozo the Clown show! hahahahaahahahahahahaha - but I do remember you being on PBS during the drive with the hounds!!!

Kimmy - I remember Quiet Riot - during my highschool days - defiitely a far cry from Billy Graham!!!!

Gosh, it is getting late now, have to make sure DS is tucked into bed and that his piggy roommates are content....then off to stomach crunch while I watch some mindless tv..... July 4th cannot get here fast enough - I just love the fact that I have a 3 day WORK week!!! YEAH!!!!

Good Morning All!

Well, it's the morning after the long weekend here. It's only 6:15 in the morn and gross outside. Hot, and humid. Feels "close" like the air is kind of squeezing you. Looks like it will be a day inside with the AC.

We started our "mini" vacation Thursday night. DH had had a great day at work (he had done such a good job on a project that his boss gave him Friday off with pay :) ), DS got a good report from school and everyone was in a good mood. That was the start of being off plan. We went out for dinner and I was BAD:devil: I started out ok with water and 2 bowls of salad, but it was downhill from there. Big bowl of pasta, a drink called strawberry shortcake made with ice cream and topped with whipped cream and a dessert calzone--apple and toffee filling.

It's been very warm here so Friday we went north to the inlaws to swim in the lake. I ate everything MIL made/put out. Potato salad, white bread. Saturday we went to friends for dinner. More potatoes and corn on the cob. Sunday and Monday we spent north east of here with my cousin. Made more "strawberry shortcake" drinks ( I just HAD to look it up on the net) and drank those by the pool. Lots of pasta salad for dinner and bad-for-me snacks while playing cards. I did make a legal mexican dip, but I ate corn chips even tho I had brought triscuits.

We came home yesterday and I feel sooooooooo big. I've felt stuffed since Thursday night. We just had some barley soup and grilled cheese for dinner. I'm finally feeling less stuffed. BUT the damage has been done. The scale was up 4 lbs  from last WIW. I've been drinking water like crazy--I've actually been craving it, guess cause I didn't drink too much these past few days. I also have NOT done any exercise since Wednesday! YIKES!!!

I'm getting back on track today. I'm going to make some hummus and cut up some celery to scoop it with. I can eat lots of salad with the lettuce in the garden. We have nice ripe strawberries to pick too. And I have to find something to do with the swiss chard that's growing. So I have a lot of healthy choices, I just have to CHOOSE them.

DEB I like the look of the new boards. If you need help with moving stuff, give me a shout. I'm better at answering emails.

CANADIAN GALS--I can't remember who, but I had it stuck in my head that one of you wanted to do a cake with semolina flour. I picked up a recipe booklet from Loblaws and there was an ad from Robin Hood flour. They showed a bag of semolina flour amongst their other products. I skimmed their website, but couldn't find any recipes for it. Maybe it's a new product and they haven't updated the website. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I saw commercially packaged semolina flour in a Canadian ad. I haven't yet checked the stores for it. I hope it's available.

Ok, the munchkin is coming downstairs. I better go. I wish all my neighbors to the south a WONDERFUL July 4th weekend. Try to stay OP as best you can, cause I don't want y'all to feel yucky like I did during/after our long weekend.

A TUESDAY MORNING QUICKIE!!!

Just wanted to check in and tell you that Men In Black II was GREAT!!! We really liked it. I think it was even better than the first one. There's is the most adorable Pug dog in it along with a lot of bizarre, slimey looking folks. DH got popcorn and I passed on it!!!! Had my ziplock with one serving of the Organic oat bran pretzels. And that was enough for me.

P.S. Let's all try to lower our starchy carbs today and see if that helps with our WIW for tomorrow!!! I may have already blown it . . . had Special K this morning. Oops! My kitchen is a mess still and I'll admit, it's really hard fixing food in there. I'm grabbing the easiest thing that's legal.

Have a good day, everyone! Hope we are all able to get on the chat tonight. DEB, can you give us a link incase the old one no longer works with the new update? Thanks!

Mornin'.:) Just wanted to check in before we take off to my mom's for a few days. I'll go ahead and post my weight today since I won't have access to a puter for a few days. No change from last week. I guess that's OK. TOM is here with a vengeance and making my life miserable. Plus I went to the Upward Bound banquet last night. My girls that I taught at the beginning of the summer were performing. Of course, nothing there was legal but the salad. So.....I ate. Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy and rolls. So back on track today. Walked my 2 miles and downing lots of water. Maybe I'll have better news next week.

QUILTER: I would love to see MIB II. I loved the first one. Had to settle for seeing Scooby Doo last weekend.:dizzy: It was OK. The kids liked it anyway. Sounds like y'all are doing a big redo on the kitchen.

ZANNE: I know what you mean about feeling big after eating off plan. It's not a good feeling. You're back on track tho now.:)

BOB: Hope the new meds are working better. I know I can't do without my Prozac. I wish I were one of those crying depressed people. Instead I get mean and ugly.:o I think that's when I started gaining some weight - when I started taking the med. But it made such a huge difference in how I function.

SOL: Congrats on the new baby.:)

James is bugging me about playing on the puter so I'm off. I'll check back in when we get home. Happy 4th.

Oh, and welcome to the newbies.:D

Helloooo People!

I'm in Annapolis and resting from my grand adventure around D.C. yesterday so I thought I'd post a little something, go back and read the posts from last week and this week, then respond to everyone.

I did get to meet Beth last week. If she hasn't posted since our meeting, it's because her cable went out and she has a cable modem, so she can't get on the Internet.
We had a lovely visit over Starbucks coffee on Tuesday evening. It really is true about feeling like you're meeting an old friend instead of a stanger when you meet someone from this board. Everyone who has that opportunity should do it.
Beth asked a guy to take our picture and I will post it as soon as I get home and download it from my camera. That should be sometime Friday night or Saturday.

It's a LONG way from Dallas to Annapolis! The drive to Huntsville didn't seem so bad, but from there to here was a killer. My butt and my back were killing me by the time we got here. We had rain off and on most of the way, too. But it sure is a pretty drive. At one rest area while we were looking at a map of VA, I asked my son if he wanted to hop over to the Blue Ridge Parkway and drive on that road. He actually told me no way!

Yesterday I went into DC to tour some of the sites we missed two years ago. I started at the Lincoln Memorial (that statue is HUGE), went to the Vietnam Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, the Smithsonian castle, the Air and Space Museum, then the National Gallery of Art. There's a new Egyptian exhibit called "The Quest for Immortality" It was very interesting and if it comes your way I highly recommend it. I know it will be in Ft. Worth later this year but don't know what other cities. It was hot and my feet and legs were numb from all the walking. You don't realize how far it is from one end of the Mall to the other. I think it must be two miles.

So today I rest and read this board. My son will have leave from about 1600 to midnight so I plan to hit Trader Joe's this afternoon. I found a Fresh Fields, but don't think they have anything I can transport on a plane.

Eating has been very good. I did have crab cakes the other night and they probably had some breading that's not OP, but they were good and I held off on the starchy carbs in preparation. If my house hosts' scales are correct, I may have actually lost 3 or 4 pounds. I'll hold my breath until I get home to mine.

That's my week in a nutshell. I'll go back to last week's board now and catch up, then if there's time, will respond to everyone.

Gymnut: Welcome!

Hello All:

Bright and Sunny morning here - and hopefully my mood will catch on to that - feeling irritable today.... oh well.....

Quilter - That is great that you were able to pass on the popcorn - not me - I am a popcorn fanatic - I am just going to have to do the same and pass on it and bring myself a legal snack! Today I have decided to do as you say - no starchy carbs today :) Instead I have some low fat cottage cheese, and I had 1/2 an orange first thing when I got up and moved around...hopefully that will have my metabolism moving - and I will burn off some unwanted pounds....

Zanne - Wow, you had fun being off plan didn't you! hahaha - well at least you are back on track - you can fix the damage!! I dont think I have ever had Swiss Chard.

Music - Wow you too - Mashed potatoes!!! Oh my gosh - well you can get back op and feel better!

Last night when I went to Fresh Market to get dinner, I cannot tell you how much the BREAD was calling to me, it kept saying "Sabrina, I am delicious, I am fresh, you need to eat me!" - well I picked up some ILLEGAL bread, put it in the basket and then this loaf of Peasant Rye jumped off the shelf at me and saved me from disaster.... I threw the ILLEGAL loaf back on the table and took the SF Peasant Rye home with me, had one slice with dinner, and the rest went into the freezer for a later date....

HiedieHo All!!!

Good Morning!!! I'm up and about a half hour earlier today. My DIL and GD left this morning to visit DIL's parents in FL. My DS was supposed to go also but but at the last minute something cropped up at work and he had to stay home. It's a shame but some things can't be helped.

So as long as I got up at 7 to say goodbye I emptied the freezer to defrost it. It is out on the garage, is old and frosts up easily. It is pretty low right now so a good time to do it before I go shopping again.

I am glad we are having sporadic rain but it doesn't feel good!

DEB: New forum is great! QUILT's idea of posting a link for chat is a good one. I have been unable to get into chat for the last couple of weeks, basically tells me I'm not registered yet says "Hello sef" so it knows me!

BOB: My DIL gets terrible nightmares if she takes coedine. Doctor had to find another painkiller for her. There are so many meds out there that do the same thing that he should be able to find you an equivalent that doesn't cause you bad dreams.

ROSALIE: Thanx for explaining Canada Day, I meant to ask what it commerates. I feel that anything you can get from food is much better than getting it from a pill. More satisfying too! I'll have to try the SP Quiche. If I remembr right it takes feta cheese and that's about the only cheese I don't like, perhaps mixed with the potatoes the flavor blends and it will have a different taste.

ADRON: Don't lose touch. The board helps so much, even if you cheat. We don't approve of cheats, but do encourage each other to get with the program. That's the only way the wor will work for us. Believe me I speak as a sinner!

MERCY: Dinner sounds delish and OP. The poor states that aren't used to humidity are really complaining, but they will only have it a few days. Now here in LA...............! I'm still not used to it. I've learned to volunteer to bring a main dish or dessert to any pot luck food function then I am sure I will have something to eat. It's hard to say no when you are hungry and everyone else is eating!

TRANQUIL: It does get easier to stay OP the longer we are on this woe. It just takes planning sometimes doesn't it? Interesting how or why we name our pets. When my GD got my cat he was a little kitten and of course had blue eyes> At age 3 she thought that was the color they would always be so named him Blueberry, which was eventually shortened to Berry. By the time I got him three or four years later he was a monster size and I shortened it to Bear. Which really fits him. GD got him in Turkey where every trash can has it's own cat. He was found abandoned at about 10 days old and they adopted him. Then a couple of years later when they had to move to OZ they would have had to quarantine him for one year. That is expensive and sad. The USA only requires a 48 hour health certifcate before takeoff so he came to me. I've had him ever since. More than you needed to know isn't it? Most of us are sappy about our pets and can was eloquent about them!

ZANNE: How cruel, describing such a luscious sounding dessert!! I had to wipe the drool off the keyborad before I could continue!! Now the time is for correct choices. It can be hard to get back on OP but when you have been uncomfortable from your bad choices it helps motivate us.

QUILT: I am looking forward to MIBII. So proud of you avoiding the popcorn and taking a snack with you!

Well, will go and see how the defrosting is coming. In this weather it shouldn't take long!

Will check in later, take care all.

Good morning! Just a quickie as I have relatives in town from the great state of Texas that are coming over to spend the day.

Quilter, I'm with you on leaving the starchy carbs alone today. I had legal spinach pasta last night and my weight is up this morning. Thanks for the review on MIB. Tranquil will probably want a pug after she sees the movie as she loves them. I can't wait to see it, maybe this weekend.

Tranquil, Good for you on the choice for the legal bread. Fresh Market makes so many delicious things that are hard to pass up.

j red, sounds like you are having a great time in D.C. I would think that just leaving the state of Texas is a trip in itself, with it being so huge. Hope you have a safe journey home.

Sorry, I have to run. Relatives will be here any minute. I hope to get back for chat tonight and to respond to other posts.

Hope everyone has a good OP day.

Take Care,
Wendy

Okay, I am trying to get things back in order. I officially am back on plan with SugarBusters. I stepped on the scale this morning and I sadly report that I presently weigh 179! I was 171 when I left for Prince Edward Island so that is 8 pounds of vacation :( I am all set to go now though. I have eaten anything and everything that could tempt me to go off plan while away so I figure that should tide me over for awhile. I am also starting the Walk Away the Pounds videos today and will cycle through the 3 of them over the week. I am actually drinking water again, which I neglected completely while away so hopefully I will see a couple of pounds of water go in a short time.

KIMMYTHEKID- I will go and change my info after my post here. I tend to mess things up sometimes and can't get back in when I change info for some reason...it is my computer and it's bugs...but I will see what I can do! Glad to hear you had a great time at the Billy Graham Crusades, you were certainly busy with them. You lost another pound?! You must be skin and bones nowadays. Are you still exercising or with all of your running around did you give it up for awhile?

ZANNE- While I was on PEI I heard the temperatures for you guys have been terribly high. The humidity must be killing you. I must confess, I don't miss that at all now that I live in NB!

TRISH- Just to add to ROSALIE'S explanation of CANADA DAY...it was in 1867 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island that Confederation took place. It is essentially the *birthplace* of Canada. We celebrate Canada Day in the same way that you celebrate the 4th of July!

ROSALIE- I am going to start with the 1 Mile video today. I haven't exercised for awhile so I don't want to kill myself or turn myself off of it. I am really looking forward to getting moving again! I will let you know how I do with it.

SOLSHINE- Congrats on getting your puppy! Make sure you get those piddles right away because even Frebreze won't get the urine smell out. A rug cleaner company told me to blot the soiled carpet then pour very hot, but not boiling water onto it. Then use thick towels and step on it to suck out all the water. This dilutes the urine and prevents it from smelling when the hot weather tends to bring the stink out! Then you can treat it with other spot removers. That was his advice in any case. Hope you get lil Neo trained fast so you don't have to deal with much of that.

I am going to have to sign off and get my exercising and cleaning going. Have a great day all!

Good Tuesday Morning Everyone:wave:

Whew! I thought I'd never get on here to finally get in my post. I started writing a post on Sunday and have had to revise and add to it since. I'm not sure just where to start! I guess today, and go backwards.

Already got in my 4.5 miles today. It actually was nice out this morning, something unusual as of late. The rains have been daily here and keeps us from doing many of the things we want. It was very hot and humid though. I managed to get it in in 54:35, not a great time, but not the worst I could do. Was hard to get in any jogging, just wasn't in me today.

Yesterday was an interesting day. I hadn't fallen asleep until about 5am Sunday morning, not sure why, I guess over tired as we didn't hop into bed until about 2am. I awoke at 7am. Cleaned up a bit and went for my walk/jog-must of been running on adrenaline, literally. I got in 6.5 miles which took me 1 hour 15 minutes to the second. When I came home I planned on posting and my post was to start out with "I FEEL GOOD" <James Brown impression> but was only able to find time to post on the exercise board before I had to go off line to do gosh knows what.

Then I had to get ready to take MICHAEL to his first guitar lesson, thankfully the guy knows what he's doing and he's close to my house (about a mile if that). Michael liked him, so it's a go. Thanks to Grandma he now has lessons to learn to play:D Before we left I wolfed down some raspberries to hold me over til we got home so I could eat lunch (hadn't even had time to eat breakfast).

Started getting a headache when I was waiting for Michael at his lesson. It progressively got worse. I tried to eat a chicken salad sandwich before I went to go lie down-big mistake. I had one of those headaches that makes you feel like you're going to die! I call them HH, hormonal headaches and I haven't had one like this in years I think. My nose stuffs up, I feel naseaus and I have a headache that feels like my heads in a vice squeezed so tight you think your brains are ready to pop out of your head! I got REALLY sick, the chicken sandwich was now being given as a offering to the porcelain Goddess in a violent act. I did feel a little better after that was gone, took some ice and put it on the back of my head and passed out in bed. I'm not sure how long I slept but felt a lot better when I got up around 6:30pm, but not 100%. It was either a HH or a HH (hormonal or heat).

The night before I realized that, even though I know I haven't been drinking my water, just how much I have and haven't been drinking had a lot to do with how I've been feeling as of late. Over the last two weeks I've barely had liquids and I just didn't really stop and think what I was doing to myself. Yesterday before doing the 6.5 miles I drank an entire 1.5liters of water BEFORE I went out, something I never do. I don't think I peed out much of it at all. I think my body was dehydrated big time. I think it still is and really vowed to watch this, though I'm not sure just how well I can deal with it.

Sooo, ELI comes home, I make dinner-made the HAMBURGER QUICHE recipe I posted lonnnggg ago and haven't made in probably 10 years, or more. I made a few changes and it came out wonderful! Even LAUREN, my resident critique liked it!!! I have to admit, it was delicious and I was able to keep 95% of it down! I substituted 3/4 of the mayo it called for with yogurt cheese, didn't have any green pepper so used some mushrooms and used mostly the 75% lf Cabot Cheese with only 2oz of lf mozzarella. Next time I think I'll use all yogurt cheese and save myself 10 grams of fat for the mayo and used all 75% cheese and save another 5 grams of fat there. Oh, I didn't sautee the onions in the olive oil either.

Okay, now to recap Sundays events...Had a nice but all too short day with ELI. By the time we actually got ready and made a mad dash in the rain to get out and go it was close to 11am. We hit the HFS up in Broward first then stopped at Sears as ELI was looking for a pair of sneakers. Well, guess who made out like a bandit?? BOB, you have NOTHING on me my dear! I was the bargain queen Sunday! I bought Michael 2 pairs of sneakers, one pair is ADIDAS and was regularly priced at $75.00 and even though it was a bit pricey at $28.00, I got them as they are REALLY cool looking. The other pair were REEBOKS that were originally $60 that I paid a whopping $11.88, 75% off the original price PLUS another 25% off! WAIT, it keeps going! THEN I see a pair of NEW BALANCE for me and one pair, the wrong size says 50% off, all the rest say 30% off, so I ask the gal to check to see what the correct price is, WELL, she comes back and says, with the extra 25% off, they come out to $14.05!!!!! Heck, I got 2 pairs for that price! They were originally priced at $75.00 as well! I got 75% and another 25% off those! Then I got LAUREN a pair of SKEECHERS, nothing great, just the Keds looking type sneaker with a thick sole. Those were originally priced at $40 and those I paid $6.55! (they are going back though, too big for her). The added bonus was, I had a gift card with over $70 on it and had to only pay $6.41 out of my own pocket (this is a story in itself about the gift card, but trust me, you'd be proud!!!!).

So, after feeling like I'd hit pay dirt on the savings circuit, we went to lunch at Ole Ole (delish!) to settle down a bit. After that we hit JCPenneys-geez, if I had time I could of had a ball in there! I got MICHAEL some much-needed pants that were marked down 60% off the original price, then you got another 25% off and then with their Dad's employee discount I got another 20% off (doesn't actually add up to as much as it sounds, but comes out to actually being 75% off!) And last, but not least, I was looking for a ring to give ELI for his big 5-0 that's coming up in less than 2 weeks (unfortunately, the old fart will be in Lebanon during his big birthday) and I found exactly what I thought about buying him even though I had nixed the idea long ago. They had a a ring with 5 diamonds in it, which I had wanted to buy him, one for every 10 years! I liked it a lot, but figured it was too pricey, but the best was THAT IT WAS ON CLEARANCE!!!!!:spin: It was originally $504 and I ended up paying, with tax, 127.84 (I may even go back and apply for a credit card to get another 10% off!, didn't know I could do that!). I really hadn't thought I'd get him a ring at this time, it was just a thought I had as I already got him a bday present and really can't afford to buy this (thank goodness for credit cards!), but when I saw it I just knew it was meant to be. I'm making this a bday AND anniversary gift (August) and killing two birds with one store. I think it needs to be sized one size though. It's really pretty and is a two-toned 14K gold ring with 5 diamonds in a channel setting and has .25 carats! Anyone think I did well????

The STARBUCKS odyssey continues...Eli came home and told me that now they are not opening until August 2nd. They have to do some major electrical work underground. So, he can go on vacation and not worry about the store at this point and when he comes back, hopefully, he'll find that they will be able to open in a few weeks. Always something, it seems.

Today is TUESDAY TIPS and I found this bunch of tips on:

http://www.lifelines.com/Cookbook/tips/3.html

To lower the cholesterol content of a recipe, when your recipe calls for 1 whole egg, substitute with 2 egg whites or 1/4 cup egg substitute or 1 egg white and 1 tsp oil or 1 whole egg plus 2 egg whites (depending on size of eggs).

Try scrambling eggs (or an egg substitute) in a nonstick skillet and sprinkle with oregano and garlic powder.

A scrambled egg folded over sliced apples that have been cooked in a nonstick skillet with cinnamon makes a delicious crepe.

Dill weed adds a spark to egg salad made with reduced calorie mayonnaise.

In some dishes, the amount of cheese required for rich flavor can be reduced by substituting a more flavorful cheese, in small quantity. For example, extra sharp cheddar cheese can be used in place of cheddar cheese.

Look for the new lowfat versions of other cheeses, such as Swiss, Cheddar, and Mozzarella.

If a recipe calls for Parmesan cheese, and you love the distinctive taste, try using only 1/3 or 1/4 of the amount called for. The strong flavor goes a long way.

Try Sapsago, a lowfat cheese that, when grated, has a taste very much like Parmesan cheese.

If you are using Cheddar cheese in a recipe, try using half of the amount called for. Use part-skim Mozzarella cheese for the other half. You'll love the results.

A rich-tasting creamy cheese can be made from commercial yogurt. Using a simple "draining' procedure, the yogurt whey is separated from curd, (see Double Thick Cheddar Cheese). This cheese can then be used in cheesecakes, dips, salads, etc.

Draining yogurt overnight makes a low-fat, high-calcium alternative to cream cheese, sour cream or whipping cream. Yogurt cheese made from plain lowfat yogurt is mildly tart. Substitute it for sour cream in stroganoff, or use it in place of whipping cream in quiche.

Make yogurt cheese with vanilla low-fat yogurt for a slightly sweet product that is delicious in sundaes or dips.

For successful yogurt cheese: choose lowfat yogurt made without added gelatin. Drain 16 oz. of yogurt to make 1 cup of yogurt cheese. You can drain up to 32 ounces at one time. Do not beat by hand, blender, electric mixer, or food processor. Let yogurt cheese come to room temperature before you add it to hot mixtures.

When your recipe calls for 1 cup light cream, substitute with 1 cup evaporated skim milk or 3 Tablespoons oil and skim milk to equal one cup.

When your recipe calls for 1 cup heavy cream, substitute with 1 cup evaporated skim milk or 2/3 cup skim milk and 1/3 cup oil.

When your recipe calls for 1 cup sour cream, substitute with one cup plain lowfat or non-fat yogurt.

When your recipe calls for cream cheese use the "Light" commercial cream cheese or use part-skim ricotta cheese.

When choosing a cheese select one which contains 5 or fewer grams fat per ounce.

For a skinny version of cream cheese that only tastes fattening, mix three parts blenderized low-fat or nonfat cottage cheese with one part nonfat yogurt and use as a delicious dip base, potato topping, bagel filling or toast topping.

Sharp cheddar cheese or other natural cheeses such as Monterey Jack or Gouda can be separated from some of its fat. You can do this in the oven or the microwave. Either way, this clever technique produces a tasty cheese that is lower in fat than commercially prepared cheeses. Use it when your recipe calls for cheddar cheese.

Had been avoiding the scale like the plague but finally took the plunge and hopped on there today. Not a happy camper to see 127.5, above my cushion but luckily still below my goal weight. I'm working on getting things back down to my cushion. After tomorrow's WIW, which I will most definitely weigh, I will wait til next WIW and then not weigh again til the 22nd.

I'm glad you all like the new board layout. Just please bear with me until I can get things situated. I wasn't sure where to place the exercise board. I want people to be motivated by others exercise during the week and to see if forefront to post on it, so I stuck it in the weekly thread area-any suggestions?

OFF THE EATEN PATH This board is dedicated for all posts that have NOTHING to do with this WOE!!!! Face it, there is life beyond SB and I thought it was off the beaten path, but instead named it off the eaten path (cute?). Site, tips, recipes that don't belong on the SB BOARDS, stuff like that are all welcome on that board.

Okay, time for replying to individual posts:

QUILTER, romantic, me and Eli? Nahhhh. I think romance has plumb gone with the wind-just had a nice day out with him. Sounds like you and Paul had a good time at the party on Saturday and you did really good with your eating as well.

CHRIS, sorry you had a tough time getting to the support board, I'm glad to hear someone took the initiative and posted a link for you to find the new area, sorry, I should of done it earlier. Will forward the e-mails I sent to everyone to you with the recipes. You can try sending me your photo and I can see if I can load it up in a bigger size, if you'd like. Since you are on AOL, I can tell you how to load it on your AOL FTP site, it's really easy. Just let me know!!

SERENE, I can guarantee you that when you and TRANQUIL come for a visit, you will have some homemade hummus and if you like it, will teach you the fine art of hummus making;) Nope, I do the board solo, but have to say that when I do go on vacation I've had someone help me, like ROSALIE did while I was away. It's a labor of love:love:

FILLISE, funny that you posted that recipe as I had just seen it on the recipe boards recently and thought, hmmm, that sounds good. Can you tell me what the difference in taste would be without the vodka vs with? I'd opt for without. Where are you going on your mini vacation?

TRANQUIL, so was DS surprised at his new roommates when he came home? Did he like your choice of names?

BOB, no definite date at this time for the SB TWO-SOME to come down and visit. We were waiting to hear about the SB opening to coincide their visit. If they can wait and plan to come on the date they are now takling about August 2nd, which is a Friday, hopefully, they can come down for that entire weekend. You'd be due as well, it's going to be a year!!! Could you make it?

FLY, WELCOME BACK! What the heck happened to you? Boom, you fell off the face of the earth for a while, but glad to see you back. What's been going on with you???

ROSALIE, another SP QUICHE, now you really have me wanting to make one! Maybe I can get inspired to make one today.

SOL, sounds like NEO is getting use to his new surroundings and unfury parents. I had a terrible dream about the WDW Marathon that woke me this morning. Weird dream, but in a nutshell, it was 5 minutes before 7am and I was running late to the marathon (in my dream it started at 7am) and I wasn't going to make it there on time to run it. I woke up telling myself it was only a dream! No weight training going on here, only made it to 3 classes before they ended-was a waate of money:( Can't wait to see pics of NEO and then the future prospect of seeing him in person, in the new house!!!! Oh, can't wait to see you and Vince too:)

KIMMY, glad to hear you are down a pound-guess that Billy Graham did wonders for you in more ways than one! The pretzels you mentioned, are they the OAT BRAN-they are legal, but remember, only 1 serving!!!

JENN, don't let Dan's loss overshadow the great strides you've made on this WOE-men are just plain ol lucky that they lose weight much easier than us women! Good luck Friday with the hair!!!

TRISH, I'm sure you are back on track after the free-for-all you had this weekend. It's behind you (hopefully) and I'm sure it's just a distant memory at this point. Did you see my explanation of the EATEN PATH board above?

TREE, glad to hear you and your mouth are mending well. Thanks for posting the info from the article in Readers Digest. I pulled mine out to save it for future reference. That's cool you were in a movie! How'd you snag that?

GATOR, you can paste your post into that section if you want without hitting reply, but yes, it's great for a quick post! That's great you are helping your daughter buy a house. I think renting is a waste (but know it's good for some) If you are able to get a house it's a lot better in the long run, at least you are paying your own mtg and not someone elses.

SEF, loved the ROSE story! I guess Nicholson counts for something, the other one, let it slide, you're pushing it sister!!!!

ADRON, glad to see you are back on track. I'm sure you didn't do too much damamge.

MERCY, good for you for pre-planning for the 4th of July! I always find out what's being served at a dinner and always bring something SB legal even if there's food I can have, but also, just in case. Planning ahead makes things a lot more easy.

ZANNE, oh my gawd, that drink sounded devine! I'm sure you'll be just fine and the scales will go back down quickly. Thanks for offering to help. I will be in touch once I figure out how I want to proceed.

JRED, glad to hear you made it safe and sound to Annapollis. I enjoyed hearing about your meeting with BETH from her and now from you. Can't wait to see the pics you took! Great place to meet as well. So, HOW WAS TJ'S???? Details, details, I need details!!!! Enjoy your time there!!

GRACIOUS, I'm sure that weight will slide right back off of you, at least you are nipping it in the bud right now.

Anyone I missed, it wasn't intentional, I send you all a big hearty hello!!!

Ladies, TONIGHT IS CHAT AT 9:15PM EST and as requested I am e-mailing everyone on the board (who I have e-mails for) a link to get to the chat room if the link that is provided by the 3FC'S at the top of the page is not working for you.

I MUST wrap this up. I'll check in later.

Have a wonderful day, and remember, TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!! so I hope the scales are kind to you all!!!

Toodles!

Howdy all! I'm sitting here in this humid hot dining room too cheap to turn on the ac...man is it warm already. :) I've enjoyed sitting here reading all the post but was too lazy to take notes.

After two days of slip sliding on my muddy road I took two days off of walking this weekend. We were back walking yesterday but it was just too muddy and humid to try and run safely.

Serene....good job picking the healthy yummy not a no no bread! :) You were asking me about bows....I use a compound bow that I bought off of ebay. God blessed me with it. It's an alpine. One day..okay years from now..LOL I hope to get a Mathews..but man those things are EXPENSIVE...I don't see it happening till the kids are grown. I think if you are just gonna shoot targets and not hunt brand wouldn't matter that much. And used would be a good way to save some money.

Tranquil...could you do a few tummy crunches for me too...I have terrible abs...they scream when I even mention exercise.

Quilter...I'm with you on watching the starchy carbs.

Deb...thanks for all the great cooking tips. You will be to your cushion in NO time!!

Well the kids are trying to do some school so they can have next week off. Better get and help them get motivated.

Love,
Crystle

Hello everyone from hot and humid Alabama!

Yesterday was a pretty good day foodwise. I can tell my body really likes it when I eat OP and stay away from the sugars and the white flours.

Deb--I tasted the sauce before I added the vodka and it was a creamy tomato taste--it was good. The vodka gives it a little edge, but it is good without it too. Give it a try--I'm going to have some left over for lunch today.

Crystle--I think walking will be fine. I read somewhere once that you burn as many calories walking a mile as you do running--it just takes longer. Mud is more slippery than snow, I used to hate the spring thaw when I lived in the midwest--that was the most dengerous time of the year for me!

Kim, I'm trying to avoid the starcy carbs at night. I had two slices of SFWW bread in the morning--will have some pasta for lunch and then tonight I'm planning on a fish and veggies.

SEF--I think it definately counts if you graduated with Jack Nicholson! He is still a hottie--and I am so looking forward to seeing Tommy Lee Jones in Men inn Black II--NOD YA HEAD!

OK got to go--off to the library to do research on our opposition for the fall election!

Susan

PS--Thursday is Miss Belle's first birthday! She is curled up on the three-tier cat tree I bought her last week. I can't believe how much companionship and joy she has brought into my life!

Just a quick note to ROSALIE about the Walk Away the Pounds 1 mile video. I just did it and I loved it. It was easy enough and I used my 2 lb weights with it as she suggests. I thought it was a good way to get started again and I was able to complete it. I can see how this shorter video will come in handy on days when you don't have as much time but still want to get your exercise in. I will do this 1 mile one for the rest of the week then try the 2 mile tape on Monday. With you having to stop at 1.5 miles I am figuring I should work my way up to it. Thanks again for recommending it!

Boy, I just spent 4.5 HOURS catching up on the posts from last week and this week. Now my be-hind is sore and my tummy is growling. I'll try to respond later. Maybe tomorrow morning tho. I'm on my hosts computer and don't want to be on here when they are home. Catch you all later.

HiedieHo All!!

Well the freezer is cleaned and turned back on, I've been to WD and bought 2 paackages of spare ribs, with the card they were only .99, I bought some last week and they were delicious. Also bought 4 pks of chicken breasts at .77. Plus some other groceries. Now I need to put my feet up, it is wicked outside and I working on the freezer in the garage, so it is a real sweatbox even with doors open.

SERENE: When I left NJ I went to Ft. Worth for three months. Driving cross country when we hit TX I thought it would never end. You're right, quite a trip just to get in or out!

GRACIOUS: You lost those pounds once and you can do it again!! Thanx for further explanation of Canade Day. We need to learn about others traditions and history.

DEB: Talk about a book! Yor little fingers must be worn down to the knuckles! But such an interesting book! Stop braggin we KNOW you are the BARGAIN QUEEN! Thanx for the link, hope I can get in.

FILLISE: I'm nodding!!!!!

Things to do, see you all later.

I took Neo to the vet today for a puppy check up at the breeder's recommendation. The vet suggested that I really look into the Luxating Patella (Grade 1) issue since we want to agility train Neo. He also wanted to do a deep skin scrape because of a section on the dog that is losing hair. He thinks it's Demodex (?) mites/mange? We noticed him scratching this area before we left the breeder's but thought that was why the hair was sparse there and that it was normal, no big deal. The breeder says that it's normal for some puppies to get this and it clears up by itself as the puppies immune system gets stronger. She also said that the LP would pretty much go away as the puppies muscles got stronger, too. I do find that the mange can heal up as puppies grow. I can't find anything positive about LP. To say we're distraught would be an understatement. We really like this puppy and Vince wanted a male grizzle and he's the only one from that litter BUT we don't want a puppy knowing that we will have problems that could be expensive and painful for the puppy as he grows. That's the whole reason we went with the breed/breeder that we did. We want a healthy, active puppy who will be that way for his whole life. We are going to call the breeder tomorrow night and see what she suggests/can do. Any advice out there?

FILLISE - Not too much information at all! When I saw the poll question I knew that you'd have something on being on TV for your candidates or political studies/commentary. You and DEBBIE were the first 2 people I thought of.

KIMMY - Quiet Riot!?!?! How Cool! Do tell! Details?!?!

SERENE - We're Godparents for a guinea pig named Miss Piggy! We love to babysit her, but that might have to change with a vermin killer in the house now.

JENN - Those men just think about losing weight and it comes off, I think! Meister works hard at staying in shape, but he also sees the results quicker than I do.

TRISHALOO - Those "cheats" can quickly snowball into a full blown landslide can't they? Getting back on track is what's important. Of course our resident Dungeon Mistress cracking her whip can seriously minimize those cheats. :D

FLY - So good to hear from you! Whine here - that's what we're here for - 'course we'll always give the truth, too - even when it's rough to hear! Yeppers 1/2 marathon at WDW - FROG's inspiration!

GATORGAL - Yep, we're renting now and we'll be buying 3 houses down! True blessings! I'll give you the long story version some time. We close July 22 right after vacation. Daddy's been giving advice and whatnot - I teased him about thinking I was out of his hair when I moved out of his house. It never ends, does it?

QUILTER - Thanks for the tip! I'll go look for it. I've been using Febreeze to cover the odors. Glad it's the rental carpet he's learning on. Glad to hear MIB II was cool. I used to get free passes all the time. I really miss that part of working at the local paper.

TRANQUIL - I'm jealous! I want the exercise bug to bite me again. Right now it's been raining for the 18th day in a row here. That's a big excuse for me to not walk.

GRACIOUS - Thanks! Guess I should try to remember where the other piddles are so I can go back and clean them good.

Outta time! Sorry, I'll try to catch back up tomorrow!

See what happens when you lie dormant for too long... you go to log back on and everything has changed!! :dizzy:

I just wanted to check in - its been a month or so for me. Things have been so hectic, I've just been a basket case!! Work has been a nightmare, my house is a wreck, and for those who have known me for awhile, my Mom got married last week:shrug:

I've been WAY off target on eating, but trying to get somewhat back on track. I ordered some exercise videos and wondered if any of you have tried them - The Firm?? I saw an infomercial and it was impressive enough for me to order and expensive enough that I hope it will motivate me to actually use them since I spent so much on them.

I'm gonna try and catch up reading now. Just wanted to let you girls know that I didn't drop off the face of the earth -> not yet anyway ;)

Good evening everyone

Zanne - I was the one asking about Semolina Cake. I can find the regular semolina but not the whole wheat semolina. Semolina flour is much finer. I used the coarser semolina which is similar in texture to cream of wheat. I was in the new Dominion store the other day looking for it and spoke to a nutritionist in the health food department and she told me she didn't think there is any such thing as ww semolina. When I mentioned ww spaghetti being made out of ww semolina she tried to tell me it was made out of ww flour. I suggested she look at the Catelli Healthy Harvest and she would see that it is made of ww semolina. She looked really surprised! Anyway I checked in a ME store and they didn't have it either. So I will continue looking. See note below to Deb. Thanks for checking it out for me. Have you thought of using swiss chard in a quiche or lasagna instead of spinach. Should work fine. I've even used kale in a lasagna and that was o.k. too.

Deb - I did make a Semolina Cake a few days ago. I went to the library and copied the recipe from A Taste Of Lebanon. I used agave in place of the sugar and used the coarse semolina (the recipe said cream of wheat) I used one cup of agave and 1/2 cup water to make the syrup. Some of it went in the cake and the rest was poured on top after baking. It sounds like a lot of agave but it really wasn't too sweet. I also added some coconut. I took some of it to work and got a thumbs up from everyone. I had a couple of pieces and thought it was yummy. Do you think it would be considered sb legal made with the regular semolina?

Tranquil - I can relate to your bread episode. I've often been tempted to pick up illegal stuff and then throw it back down again.

Sef - I don't usually eat feta cheese but it tasted great in the quiche. I've never bought it before and my dil advised me to get the Canadian feta, which I did. I don't know how it is different to any other feta. It gave the quiche a nice tangy taste but I am sure any cheese would do. For once I thought I would do exactly as the recipe said.

Gracious - I'm sure once you are back op those eight pounds will come off quickly. I gained the same amount when I was on holiday last year and it didn't take long before they disappeared. Too bad the weight loss stopped there. ;)

Heartmom - I love the drawing of Boogie.

I should be in the kitchen getting dinner ready as I am supposed to be going out to badminton this evening and was planning on eating at 6.00 p.m. I bought some turkey scalopini which I am going to fry up with some salsa and zucchini and have in a ww tortilla.

Sorry I can't respond to everyone as I have only just skimmed the posts. Hope to get back on again later this evening.

Marie.

For all who have asked about....Quiet Riot.....
At 15, they were in town doing a show that I had front and center seats for. They also had an in store appearence and signed stuff. They had a photographer with them and as I was done, he asked if he could take a photograph with me getting Rudys autogragh (he was my favorite) So I said YES!!!!!! He took it and gave me his card. That night, he was there and stood by us and took photos of them...how lucky!! He toured w/ them...how awesome! So about 3 months later someone at school made mention about my photo...I was like HUH??? There I was, in the center of a rock mag....a small photo, but none the less a photo. that was the best and worst day of my life. I had a first date with a guy I had met at a QR show and finding out I was in a mag.....well, that night was great. The guy was awesome..ect......could not have been better...but it could have been worse and it was...........
My brother who was 4 years younger than I was hit and killed by a car that night as I was at the movies. He had just turned 12, me 16.
So anyway, that was the best and worst day of my life.

Gracious....you did it. I will PM you later.

Gotta go....hope everyone is great and staying cool.

Lesson Number One

A crow was sitting on a tree, doing nothing all day. A small rabbit saw the
crow and asked him, “Can I also sit like you and do nothing all day long?”
The crow answered, “Sure, why not.” So, the rabbit sat on the ground below
the crow, and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit
and ate it.
Management Lesson: To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting
very, very high up.

Lesson Number Two

A turkey was chatting with a bull. “I would love to get to the top of that
tree.” Sighed the turkey, “but I haven’t got the energy.” “Well why don’t
you nibble on some of my droppings?” replied the bull. “They’re packed with
nutrients.” The turkey pecked at the lump of dung and found that it actually
gave him enough strength to reach the first branch of the tree. The next
day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally,
after a fortnight, there he was proudly perched at the top of the tree. Soon
he was spotted by a farmer, who shot the turkey out of the tree.
Management Lesson: Bullshi*t might get you to the top, but it won’t keep you
there.

Lesson Number Three

When the body was first made, all the parts wanted to be the Boss. The brain
said, “I should be the Boss because I control the whole body’s responses and
functions.” The feet said, We should be the Boss as we carry the brain.” The
hands said, “We should be the Boss because we do all the work and earn all
the money.” And so it went on and on with the heart, the lungs, and the eyes
until the a$$hole finally spoke up. All the parts laughed at the idea of the
a$$hole being the Boss. So the a$$hole went on strike, blocked itself up and
refused to work. Within a short time the eyes became crossed, the hands
clenched, the feet twitched, the heart and lungs began to panic and the
brain fevered. Eventually they all decided that the a$$hole should be the
Boss, so the motion was passed. All the other parts did all the work while
the Boss just sat and passed out the sh*t.
Management Lesson: You don’t need brains to be the Boss, any a$$hole will
do.

Lesson Number Four

A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold, the bird
froze and fell to the ground in a large field. While it was lying there a
cow came by and dropped some dung on it. As the frozen bird lay there in the
pile of cow dung, it began to realize how warm it was. The dung was actually
thawing him out! He lay there all warm and happy and soon began to sing for
joy. A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate. Following
the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung and
promptly dug him out and ate him!
Management Lessons: 1) Not everyone who drops sh*t on you is your enemy.
2) Not everyone who gets you out of sh*t is your
friend
3) And when you are in deep sh*t, keep your mouth
shut.

Hello All! Well, I made my super duper scrambled eggs for supper and ate too much! What a dumb thing to do with WIW just a few hours away. I did manage to get through supper without any starchy carbs. So that’s one good thing, I guess.

BOB---I’ll bet I Am Sam is a real tear jerker. I wanted to bust out crying after just seeing a few of the clips. Thanks for sending us a report about the fearless leader. Getting those modems zapped during thunder storms is really a common thing. That doesn’t make it any easier to get back up and running. I’m doing laundry tonight too. Never ends!!!

TRANQ---You are being an exercise junky! I wish you’d breathe on me so that I’d catch a little of that. I totally agree with what you said about pets being a bridge between people. I will much more likely talk to somebody who’s got a dog attached to them. I really like what you said about your girl being your soul dog. That’s how I feel about Miss Maddie. She is definitely MY dog. I, too, like popcorn. One of my good girlfriends and I used to chant this mantra about it . . . “It’s only a smell, it’s only a smell.” That was supposed to make us think that it didn’t taste as good as it smelled. Try that!!! Are you sure that wasn’t PHEASANT rye and not peasant since it was flying off the shelf. Boy, you were in the right place at the right time!!! WTG with putting back that illegal bread.

JRED---Glad to hear you all are having a great time. You sure are getting in a lot of interesting sights. Are you melting? I really admire you for spending so much time catching up on the posts. Wow, that’s GREAT!!!

SEF---I would get the same exact message when I tried to get onto the chat without DEB’s link. Let’s hope we can get in tonight! Sounds like you have been busy. Too bad DIL’s parents don’t still live in Waynesville . . . we could have had us a fun visit. Thanks for the praise for shunning the popcorn. Sometimes it’s easy; sometimes it’s not. Guess I was lucky as well. You graduated with JN??? What was he like? Did you know him? Was he the ladies man even back then???

SERENE---Have fun with your relatives!!! How long will they be there with you? You made me LOL with your comment about TRANQ needing a pug. Very funny.

GRACIOUS---Good job at getting back on program. Don’t get down on yourself about the gain. That’s in the past and you cannot do a single thing about what already happened. BUTTTTTTT, you CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE FUTURE. Keep focused and you will soon see those 8 pounds gone. You can do it!

Wow DEB---You win the prize for the longest post. Thanks for sharing. I am still concerned about your health. Glad to know that you will get your body back to its proper hydrated state. I think that was definitely making you feel better. You sure did hit the jackpot in your shopping. Isn’t it great to have a day like that where everything seems to be going your way? What a great feeling. Glad you got the ring for Eli. He’s going to love it. Thanks for the chat link. Y ou sure know how to take care of us!

FILLISE---I definitely think you are on the right track by getting all your starchy carbs out of the way early on during the day. I have been known to down a few triscuits right before bed, and i have GOT to stop that nonsense!

HEARTMOM---What a great picture of Boogie!!! It really took my breath away when I first saw it. How nice to have such a great piece of artwork done of your child. He’s such a cutie pie!!!

SOL---I have no idea what LP is. So I’m sorry that I can’t help you out there. If you think there is something wrong with the puppy, then take it to many different vets to get some other opinions. I have a GREAT vet here. Wish you could take NEO to her. She’d give you great advice. I totally understand what you are saying about wanting a healthy puppy. Perhaps talking to another breeder might be a good idea. Even if it is a breeder of a different breed, they might be able to advise you. Are you sure you trust Neo’s breeder? I’m not making a judgement. Just trying to get all the facts straight. This has to be difficult for you and Vince.

TV---Just give BOB a big whistle and she’ll come round for you on the big wagon! There’s plenty of room in it. Just climb aboard.

KIMMYTK---GREAT, GREAT, GREAT story about your “brush with greatness!” How fun to be a Quiet Riot Babe!!! I wouldn’t picture you being into that kind of music. I guess what a difference a few years and five kids make, right????

Okay, gotta go get ready for the chat. Catcha later!!!

Ooooooh, goody, goody. My name's still showing up on the main menu as a poster on the "Off the Eaten Path" board. My few days of fame! :)

Bet everyone is at chat right now, but I don't have the time. My French classes have started up again after a 2 month hiatus. My teacher's car died and so he had no transportation to class. We got him a car, finally, and so we are back on track. It's amazing how much one can forget in just a couple of montyhs. I'm having to review the past lessons like mad. We've rented a place in the French Maritime Alps for next spring for 3 weeks. I'm already dreaming about it. Bonjour, monsieur. Bonjour, madame. Comment allez vous? I got an e-mail today from some French people we met during our trip to Cuba, and it took me an hour to compose an interesting reply to it. Hopefully I didn't make too many mistakes.

We have planted a butterfly garden in our back yard, so tonight we went to a Florida Native Plant society meeting. It was not what I had hoped, so probably will get my info about the butterfly plants at the nursery.

I had a yummy dinner tonight: Roasted pork tenderloin with braised red cabbage and grated apple. Ratatouille with just yellow squash, and broccoli stir fried in toasted sesame oil. Those veggies were Goooood.

Went to work out yesterday and I'm still sore after just a 3 week layoff. My how our muscles get out of shape so quickly!

Have a good time chatting ladies.

HiedieHo All!!!

I am frustrated. I could not get into chat. I sent an email to explain, I used AOL and IE, even rebooted with the same result as before. Forum recognizes me at least. Oh well. I was thinking of y'all!

HEART: What a great drawing! a real cutie!

SOLSHINE: I would listen to the vet rather than the breeder, she'll tell you what she wants. The vet will tell you what you need to know! Nice you have your father for advice, once a parent always a parent, no matter how old they get children are always that to parents, children in the large size!

TV: Missed you! Hope you were able to resolve your feelings about Mom. I had dubious feelings when my Dad remarried after Mom passed away. It was less than the traditional mourning time.

ROSALIE: If you find out the ww semolina is legal, you'll have to post the recipe so all of us can hunt for the semolina too! I cook the same way too. If we don't like something i have made, which isn't too often, I wonder if it's because I made my alterations to the recipe.

QUILT: JN was Nick then. He was the Class Clown, vice president of our class, in school plays and a real nice good natured guy. We were in the same homeroom. A few years ago someone was offering $100 for a Manasquan HS yearbook that has his autograph in it. I have one but would never sell my book. I sometimes wonder if the person got any takers.

Okay, you given me another fix, so gotta go.

Take care, Shirley

Hello everyone! Another hot day here in Cini.
I went to chat last night and my silly computer froze on me twice and then the last time I tried to get back on I could not get in. It was nice talking for the few minutes I was there!
the kiddos and I are going to Columbus for the 4th. We are gonna have a big family gathering so I am excited. The last time I went there was in Feb.

I hope everyone has a good WIW!!
I am 115 this am and I have been for 3 days now. Remember I told you that going to the Billy Graham "shows" made me sweet off a few extra....So I am a full 10 pounds below my goal weight. I guess I should try to stay around 120/not 125. I could not imagine gaining 10 pounds!

I am brain dead this morning. I will read and respond later. :dizzy:

Happy WIW Everyone!

Man I'm 4 pages behind. Tried to quickly skim the posts. Sorry I won't be able to respond to anyone and I will be off for the next 4 days:D and won't be able to check in. Have to get the computer fixed at home. I will really miss you guys. I really need you all. I feel like I am out of the loop already.

Well I made my mini goal today:smug: Can't believe it really happened. My eating this week has not been to good. All legal, but with busy schedules, we have been eating sandwiches for dinner and not getting in the veggies I should. I need to try to get some good meals in. The scale was bouncing back and forth between 180 and 181. After a little leaning and getting back on and off about 10 times it stuck on 180. That means a loss of 3# this week.:) A total of 77 so far. Only 35 more to go. Sure sounds better than that 110 to go when I first started. So I am happy today. When I think about why I have done this well (right word or is it good) I think it was due to the suport board at SB. I got hooked on reading it and posting my weight and it gave me that incentive. Then I switched to this board and have been very happy here. Thanks for all your support and advice.

Met with my trainer this past weekend. She increased all my weights and lowered the reps:) Yeah. But some of the new exercises are killers:devil: SOme I can only do 2 or 3 times. She also gave me a running schedule incase I want to start jogging. I run for 1 minute and walk 2 minutes for the first week. I will probably stay on that schedule more han one week though. Running is not by bag. But I ahve done it 3 days so far and it is not too bad. It is quicker.

Deb, Love the new board. Will you go shopping with me? I really need some clothes and I can get a lot more for my money if you're with me.

Bob, please feel better soon.

Jenn, Hang in there, don't worry about Dan losing w/o trying. My DH has lost about 25 and he will eat desserts and of course still drinks his beer. MEN!:s:

Fruit, How are you feeling?

Toni, Did I catch you yet. Hope you have a great WIW.

Welcome to any newbies. This place is your salvation.

Have a greath 4th everyone and a great weekend. See you Monday in case I don't get back today.

Well, all I have to say is bah-humbug!!! That stupid scale went up. My shakey needle stabbed me in the back. I was down a shakey 3 last WIW. Now I'm back up a shakey two (I think). So here's the thing. I know that I am doing really well. Although I need to get exercising. So I'm not getting discouraged. I'll wager if I weigh in tomorrow it will be a different story. So there you have it. I was hoping for a big dookie houser last night, but it didn't happen. The number on the scale is only one part of this journey. I'm not basing everything on that!

Chat was great last night! LOLA if you are lurking, come on and join in! SER and TRANQ, you two are something else!!! KTK, sorry you were having puter troubles. Did you get my email?

Gotta fly. I'm late for work!!!

WIW: The hosts scales needle is below 160, but I can't really tell the actual weight. I miss my digital in my old age!:) That does put me at least 2 pounds down from last week. Maybe my body is finally ready to give up and start me losing again. I know I've got to be patient with this. I keep telling myself "It's a lifestyle, not a diet."

BOB: Thanks for the trip well wishes. I am having a great time. Today's plans are a walk around historic downtown Annapolis. I remember walking around Charleston, SC a few years back when DS was thinking about attending The Citadel. I'm fascinated by the architecture of the colonial period.

Serene: You're right about taking forever to get through TX. It took me the same amount of time to get through LA and half of MS as it did to get from my house to Shreveport, LA. And I don't even live in the middle of the state. But you know that EVERYTHING'S BIG IN TEXAS!:p

Kimmy: I so glad to hear that you enjoyed Billy Graham. I read the other day that he's not planning any more events after the Oct. Dallas one because of his health. He's very weak now and said he almost fainted before one of the nights in Cinci. Have a great holiday with your family. You deserve it.

Deb: You must give us lessons on bargain shopping. And how do you get your kids to like what you buy for them? I can't say that I think anything is cute because my DDs won't like it if I do!:s: I hope you are feeling better.

I went to TJs last night and bought probably more than I can haul home in my suitcases. Remember: I'm flying home! I couldn't find the tomato splash but did find some tomato pesto that looked wonderful. Plus artichoke pesto and olive spread. I love that stuff. They didn't have Valor chocolate but another brand of 73% chocolate. I did find the pound plus 70% and picked that up. Then I got some mixed nuts, roasted and unsalted, macadamia nuts (my DS forgot to get us some when he was in Hawaii!), my favorite find and one I am extremely excited about was Kona and Kauai coffee beans. I love those and now can just have Brandon ship me some whenever I need them! I bought some chocolate covered almonds for my DH. I've got my zip-lock bags ready and will start packing tonight. I may have to ship myself a care package! It is a great store!!!

Beth: Glad to see your cable back up. I posted first, then went back and read so I didn't know you'd already shared our meeting. Let us know how the doctor's visit went. Did you recover from your long day Wednesday? My son got in at 2:15 on Thursday after spending 17 hours on planes and in airports. He's still recovering from that experience. We drove through rain when we left on Friday until we hit Knoxville. It was really great meeting you. Now we just need to get you and TV together!

Sol: If you trust the vet, ask for options. If you really don't know the vet, see another one. I'm not sure what the problems of LP are, but do understand your concern for a healthy pet. The mange thing is really not a big deal. It's cleared up so quickly.

Tina: Hope your DD is better and am thinking about your mom, too. DH said we had more rain yesterday. How's it in ETX? He hasn't been able to mow the back yard and I don't even want to think about how it looks. My chihuahuas will get lost in the grass!

Nance: How're you doing?

YellowRose and Red1 and Missy: Where are you ladies?

And DARAMUS: Yooo-Whooo!

Tree: Glad you're healing. DS said his mouth is a-okay now. He had his wisdoms removed in May.

Fillise: I saw lots of political signs when I was passing through AL on I20. Did I see any of your candidates or are you further south?

'Fly: Welcome back. You disappeared shortly after I joined. Glad you flutterd back our way.

I regret that my computer time has expired. Gotta go get going on my trip downtown. I hope everyone has a great WIW, just like last week. Remember: I read last week's board yesterday so it's fresh in my mind how well everyone did last week.

Take Care,

   Do you really think I am happy about wiw after just returning from vacation? With some leaning, I supposedly lost one pound from yesterday..but I am going to just look forward to next wiw and hope for some real results that don't involve leaning and holding my breath while on the scale!

I did my Walk Away the Pounds 1 Mile video again this morning and must say I am really happy about getting at least some exercise in...I think I am off to a good start.

SOLSHINE- I was a VHT - Veterinary Health Technician- for 4 years and I have seen numerous cases of mange. It is common but I must warn you to truly have it treated instead of waiting for it to go away by itself. It needs treatment to get rid of it and to prevent it from returning. Recurrance is common and rather bothersome and as you know those unsightly balding patches aren't nice to look at or explain to others who inquire about them!
Regarding the LP....I would be very careful of this as well. It can mean lots of problems later on and costly surgery if things go really wrong. I would inquire at another vet as well as a couple of other breeders who specialize in the same breed. You can't be too careful because an animal is a long term investment..not only of money, but of love. You already love him but it is better to make a change now if necessary.

JACK-K- Every time I read one of your posts you are losing! You are doing fantastic...those last pounds will be gone soon enough at this rate!

GATORGAL- Where exactly are you going when you refer to the French Maritime Alps?

QUILTER- Thanks for the encouragement. I was thinking about things this morning and realized that although I really enjoyed eating on vacation..it was not worth it. But we always know that *after* the fact, don't we? Oh well...I am exercising and back on the wagon again so that is that!

I am off to get some of the house in order. We are looking to have a scorcher here today..over 100 F with the humidex...so you Southern Americans would be right at home with me today! The bummer of it all is that with my new windows, my air conditioner doesn't fit. We will have to arrange it to be built in for next year, but this summer we fry!

Happy Wednesday, NO Didn't lose but that's ok. I'm still detoxing. Last night I was staring at the Hershey chocolate syrup in the fridge tho. Happy to report it still has the same volume as before.

Looking forward to the cravings slowing up. Good thing I know that will happen. Really missing my diet sodas so going to get more lemon lime seltzer. Bubbles w/o the aspartame. May try diet rite because they use a different sweetner. Sound ok?
Gotta be quick cuz I have to be back on the big yellow bus soon.

Quilter-thanks for the inspiration. I do think no cravings is the best thing about this woe. The stabbed with the scale needle had me on the floor!

Trishaloo-I'm with you. Let's trust God and really celebrate tomorrow. Including going to crowded fireworks!

sef-awesome tip. Too bad it's taken me so long to get to that way of thinking about life.

gracious-it's amazing how fast those vacation pounds melt away when you're back legal.

Deb-I went through the longest times wrestling Ben off the computer and then gave up. I did miss all of you.

Kimmy-So sorry to hear about your brother.

Bob-your tips were too funny. Keep it up.

jred=glad to see you're still here as well.

Well time to sweat. Maybe I'll sweat some off the scale tomorrow.

Congrats all you LOSERS out there.

Love to all, Ally ('fly)

Hi everyone,
I bought a scale last week....not sure if its a good thing...I keep jumping on.

The last trip to the Dr. in early May I was 181. Today I am 167!
My goal is to be at 150 by my birthday in Oct., I will have to get a new drivers license pic taken and I don't want a double chin!!

Gracious
I have all the WATP tapes, try the 2 mile, I really like that!! Its not hard. The three mile is also great, but I seem to be able to fit the 2 mile in better time wise. I don't like the ball weights....I use my own wieghts. The ball weights are awkward to hold.

Deb
Sounds like you have a sinus problem, take some sudafed and see if it lightens up......hopefully you don't have an infection.

Great job on the board, it looks great!

Have a great day every one!

CHRISB1022...

I just bought all 3 tapes but thought I would start off easy with the 1 mile since I haven't exercised for awhile. I use my own 2 lb weights as well. I agree that those balls look terribly awkward to hold onto. I am going to work my way up to the 3 mile eventually. I think the different times for each is a great way to assure that you fit at least some exercise in for the day.

For the other ladies out there who don't exercise at all yet...I think this Walk Away the Pounds thing is perfect to get started.

Oh my gosh I'm four pages behind.. Darn the week is slipping right past me.. I'll never catch up so I'll start right here. Theres been running to do everyday. Thats it for the week!!! But did get all my grocery shopping done and have the stuff for the squash casserole I'm going to make tonight with pork chops. Got a hair cut and permanet yesterday.. And gosh do I look better. I kind of looked like Thomas Jefferson before.... Jumped out of the bed at the crack of dawn and weighed myself... I lost 3 lbs. this week... Jack-K we lost the same!!! And an added bonus I'm into a new number. What a great feeling this is. And of course I'm doing the Happy Dance today.... Congradulations all you losers, good job!!!! Will pop back in later so I'll stay caught up from now on....

Well I knew it, just knew it, does not surprise me!!! I gained - woke up with tummy swollen, belly cramps, and TOM in full blast - and I gained!!!! I was 249.5!! AHHHHH!!!!! HAAAAAHHHH bOO hoo - but I won't let it stop me! Just got back from the gym and saw my personal trainer, though did not work with him, he said he was proud of my dedication and that he was impressed. So I am a little cocky today - hehehe

Jack-K - You are just wonderful - definitely dedicated as well and doing so well - WOW 77 Pounds, You lost that 10 year old kid you were carrying around, and now you only have to lose a 1 year old toddler! yes, I am Kookie!!!

Toni - I am doing the happy dance for you too!!! WOW - that is great - you will love the squash casserole, I did!!!! Yummy!!! Was wondering where you had gone to!!!

ChrisB - Congrats on the wonderful weight loss, and welcome to the world of obsessive weighing - it is a lot of fun ;)

Fly - Good for you turning down the chocolate syrup! Wishing you a loss next WIW!!!

Gracious - Oh my gosh, that is so awful about the a/c not fitting! Oh maybe someone will feel pity for you all and give you one that fits - I hope you have plenty of fans as well.... well, you will sweat the pounds off if this summer is as hot for you as it is here!

JRed - I am right there with you over the buildings in Charleston. I can spend hours and hours, walking down one street after another there and looking at the homes, buildings, peeking into the gated courtyards - I love it there!!! Absolutely!!!

Quilter - It was great chatting with you last night!!! You are a hoot! Sorry the scale was not nice to you - I guess our scales both come from the same litter - the mean ones! hehehehe

Mercy - It was nice chatting with you last night as well - hope WIW was good for you!

Country - Where are you today? Did you weigh in? I was glad that I got on the chat last night and could say hello to you too!
Don't forget to post your recipe, please.

Melf - Where are you!!!!

Kimmy - You broke my heart about your heartache with your best day being your worst - that is a heartwrenching loss! Sorry you had trouble with your computer.

Sef - I wish I could help you get into the chat!!!! Could it be some kind of setting that you need to change? Can you write the help board for 3 Fat Chicks...maybe they can suggest something?

Bob - Hope you are getting even better today! You need to get well so we can meet and have fun!!!

SolShine - I sure hope that the puppy does not have mange...poor you and your pocketbook.

Serene - Thank YOU!!! She brought me a salad for lunch today at work because I used up all my time for working out and forgot my packed lunch at home - and my snack stuff is all gone - she went out and got me a salad - so that I would not go off program! She is a good friend!

Well, I better get a move on...Hope all have a good OP day -

Hi ladies,

Still keeping up with my daily 3 mile walk, but like someone's siggy quote says, and I'll paraphrase, "You can exercise till the cows come home, but unless you eat right, you'll still look like a cow coming home" I am struggling with the eating right....but NOT giving up.

I went and saw the Divine Secrets of the YaYa Sisterhood and I loved it. My book group adores this book and we certainly liked the movie. too.

TV-I used to do The FIRM videos. I'm in a different exercise mode right now. I like them a lot and found them to be quite effective. I have quite a selection of them.

Kim-So sorry to hear about your brother.

Sounds like there were a few gains and some good losses. I'm staying off the scale this week due to TOM. I don't need mind games right now. I'll be jumping on it next wiw.

Have a happy fourth!

Well, I stepped on the scale this morning, didn't like what I saw, so I got on it again, and again and again. Backwards, forwards, sideways, every which way I could think of and still no change. I am up 1/2 lb. Just a few days ago I was showing a 1 1/2 lb loss, so I sure can't figure out what has happened. I have been eating OP and I no longer have TOM due to early onset of menopause, so I can't blame it him. Very frustrating!! Guess, I will try not to let this discourage me and hope the scale is nicer next week.

I am working in the yard today and still have lots to do before dark. Sure is hot out there in that Florida sun. I will get back on later and reply to posts.

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Take care,

Hi everyone

Well, the scale was good to me this morning. I weighed in at 197.5 on the digital scale which is a couple of pounds less than last week and my lowest weight since starting sb. I only hope it's not a one day affair and that it doesn't creep up again tomorrow.

I've had a good eating day so far. I had a grilled cheese sandwich on multi-grain rye bread for breakfast with some coleslaw and some leftover chicken and salsa, corned beef, and salad for lunch. I had some trail mix, mainly nuts, for a snack and have just had some canned peaches and a small piece of cheese. I'm going to do chicken parmagiani with some green peas for dinner. And probably a salad as well. I'm cooking ww macaroni with a meat/tomato sauce for my ds. We usually eat the same thing but I'm trying to have starchy carbs only in the morning. Even tho it is extra work cooking to-day it will make a couple of quick meals as I will be freezing whatever is left over.

Kimmy - That was so sad to hear about what happened to your brother.

Solshine - Sorry to hear about the problems you are having with your new puppy. Hope you can get some satisfaction from the breeder.

Gracious - Glad you are enjoying the exercise video. You were lucky to find them in the store. When I bought mine I had to order it on-line as there was nothing like it in the stores here. Which Superstore were you talking about. Is it a Loblaw's? I would be interested to know how the one mile compares to the 2 mile. I am just wondering how different it might be. The 2 mile does give you a good workout but it is also fine to just do as much or as little as you want. I haven't tried using weights with it. I may give it a try next time. I have a couple of 2 and 5 pound weights. Sorry to hear that your a/c won't for in your new windows. If you have it as hot as we have it here you certainly need it. It was 37C/98F when I was out this afternoon. And that's not counting the humidity.

Deb - SIX AND A HALF MILES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Wow. Tha must be your best yet. WTG. Hope you are feeling better to-day. You are spending much too much time bent over that porcelain bowl.

Sef - The ww semolina would be legal - that's what ww pasta is made from - but I just can't find any in the stores. I would think the regular semolina would be o.k. in moderation. We'll see what the DM has to say. The sb book does say it is o.k. but so much in there is contradictory. I did a search of the net to-day and only found a couple of places that had it. One was Ansonmills.com (US) and the other was a Canadian site. I e-mailed them to see if it is available in retail stores. Maybe they only sell it to pasta makers.

Fillise - HAPPY BIRTHDAY MISS BELLE.

Times running out and I haven't even got to to-day's posts yet. Have to get dinner ready. Going out to badminton again this evening. Went for a swim this afternoon.

Bye for now.

Marie.

TONI- You are doing wonderful, congratulations on the 3 pounds!!

GATORGAL- I am so glad I asked! What a wonderful sounding destination you are headed for. You will have to laugh at me and my geography because when you said *French Maritimes* I am like, okay, out here in East Canada which is called the Maritimes where I recently moved which has a good population of French. It was the Alps part that threw me off but then I wondered about our apalation (sp?) mountains which we have here too. Oh well..wonder if everyone else knew where you meant or if I was the only turkey. :dizzy: Keep going on those French lessons. I took 10 years of French through school and I can just barely get by in a shallow conversation.

DEBELLI- My sympathies are with you and your modem. I know that must drive you nuts because you are away from the board.

ROSALIE- It was over 35 here today and they say over 40 with the humidex. Crazy!! I will let you know what I think of the comparison of the 2 videos once I do them both. Yes, it is the SuperStore/Loblaws store. They are selling all 3 separate here in NB and in PEI so they must have them there too.

TRANQUIL- I think dedication is most of the battle won, so keep going! Our friend who helped do all the work on our house will fix us up and maybe even soon if he feels sorry enough for us! He has done so much for us though that I won't ask him, he will have to offer. They are building a deck on the front of our house this weekend!

Okay..gotta run. Was just checking in since hubby is out tonight. He should be back soon so I better look like I am doing something useful!

Hi again

Jack-K - Congrats on reaching your mini-goal. Just think, you are more than two thirds of the way to goal.

Quilter - Don't worry about that shaky needle. As long as you are feeling good and know you are eating healthily you know those pounds will drop again. And who knows what it will be after dookie. ;)

JRed - Sounds like you had a great time stocking up. Hope they don't charge you too much for excess baggage.

Gracious - One pound in one day is fine. Take every little bit you can.

VAbutterfly - Glad you were able to resist the choc syrup. I think Diet Rite is the one made with splenda. If it is then it is o.k.

ChrisB - Enjoy your new scale but don't drive yourself nuts with it like some of us. Congrats on the new lower number.

Toni48 - Congrats on your loss this week.

Tranquil - I'm sure the gain is due to TOM but it is too bad it has to happen on WIW. You must be working hard at the gym to have the trainer so impressed. Congrats. :strong:

Serene - Don't be too disheartened about gaining 1/2 pound since a few days ago. That needle on the scale is always going to fluctuate but you still have lost one pound since last week. Think positive. :s:

BOB - Hi.

I think I have caught up at last. Hope I haven't missed anyone.

Marie.

Hello All! So sorry I am so late tonight. We decided to get that second coat of paint on the kitchen. And I am so glad we did. It really looks nice. I love the color. Can’t wait to get some accent stuff like curtains to really bring out that great color. Tomorrow we are getting up early (Home Depot and Lowes open at 6 a.m.) to look for flooring and new light fixtures for the kitchen. Plus I want to get some new plates for the outlets and switches. You know . . . stuff like that.

I’ve been on plan again today. But supper wasn’t very nutritious. Just some Special K. I can’t wait until the kitchen is back to proper working order so we can really cook.

SEF---Thanks for sharing about good old Jack. That’s so cool. Nobody famous came from my tiny town. You are smart to hold onto your yearbook. Sorry you couldn’t get into the chat. You missed a good one!

KIMMYTK---What an enormous tragedy for you to lose your brother at such a young age. You had me crying, girl. Thanks for sharing with us. congrats for being below your goal weight. Keep it up!!! Great to know that it can be done.

JACK-K---Congrats on making your mini goal!!!!! HOW GREAT FOR YOU!!!! You must be feeling so wonderful that you are working hard and getting what you want. Keep talking about your workout schedule. You are encouraging me to get back on my TM and burn some rubber.

JRED---I’ll bet that nasty plateau you were on has finally decided to hit the road. Congrats for sticking with it and outlasting the stall. That’s good to hear that those plateaus do leave. Way cool for you!!!

GRACIOUS---Keep looking ahead. If you didn’t like this WIW, well there’s always next WIW. I’m with you, because I wasn’t a happy camper this morning either. So you and I will keep focused on the future and not get stuck with a minor disappointment today. Plus . . . you have an excuse with your vacation. I love Leslie Sansone. I have three of her older tapes plus that thing you wear around your waist. She can give you a really good workout. I’ve got to start moving again! BTW, I loved what you had to say about the special (illegal) eating wasn’t worth it. I feel the same way.

FLYGIRL---I was glad to see that you are giving yourself enough time to totally detox. I think sometimes, we really expect a miracle on the first or second day. When in reality our bodies have a procedure to go through to get rid of all the sugar. You are approaching your “rededication” in a very smart and logical way.

CHRIS---Your are AWESOM!!! That’s an incredible amount to lose in just a little over a month. Whatever you are doing . . . keep on doing it!!!

TONI---Three pounds???? That’s wonderful!!! Did you give two of yours to me???? I’m still trying to find out who’s pounds these are. Because they don’t belong to me and I’m NOT keeping them!!!

TRANQ---So go and weigh yourself tomorrow. Sometimes it takes another day to see the week’s work! Don’t be discouraged. As much as you are working out you’re probably getting a lot of muscle and still losing the fat. So that’s still a good thing! How are those cruches coming? Do you use one of those cruncher machines where you roll up or are you doing them with nothing else but your mighty abs???

ROSALIE---Congrats for the loss. That’s so great! All the more reason for me to buy a digital so I can get rid of this shaky needle. I’m tired of guessing. Your words of encouragement to me always make me smile. Thanks, friend!

Well Girls (and Daramus, where are you???), my eyes cannot stay open. It's time to call it a day. Tomorrow evening we are going to our friends who have six kids (almost like Kimmy's house!). They are having ribs . . . not quite sure what I'm going to do about that. Any suggestions????

Kim

#1-am I posting in the right spot?

#2-I was wondering if someting like the Barilla-tri color pasta is a no no?
I know the book says wheat pasta's but are pasta's made of durum wheat bad?
#4- And how about "no sugar added" stuff?
Like I had a Dilly bar at Dairy Queen that said "no sugar added"
Something bad?
thanks- Cheryl

Cherylco - Yes, you are posting in the right spot. Glad you found us and welcome to Sugar Busters! Pastas made with durum semolina are fine but we should be using the whole wheat variety. Regular pastas are acceptable in moderation if they are cooked 'al dente' as the more they are cooked the higher the glycemic index. There is a good article on pasta on our FOOD INFORMATION BOARD taken from Michel Montignac's book. Here is the link if you would like to check it out.

http://64.119.161.199/forum/showthread.php?threadid=2365

I can't answer your question about a Dilly bar as I haven't a clue what it is. I'll leave that for someone else to answer.

If you have any other questions just post them and someone is sure to be able to help you.

WOW! Two posts from me in a week!

It's still yucky and humid here again today. It was 25C/78F at 6:30 this morning. With humidity felt like Low 90'sF. I was in the pool nearly all day yesterday with DS. We have a big (10'x6') blow up pool. Glad we also have a great little pump to plug into the car or else I'd be passed out from trying to blow it up myself! :dizzy:

WIW was ok. It showed me down 2lbs from my binge over our long weekend. Now I'm back down to where I started on SB nearly a year ago. At least my measurements are smaller than last year, so I know that SB is doing something good for me.

I'm actually going to get in a few replies this morning!

MUSIC TEACH & TRANQUIL--Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I haven't quite made it totally back on track yet. I'm planning that today:) I've got the hummus made and the veggies cut up. Fridge is full of yummy fruits and veggies. So I shouldn't have any excuses.

SEF--Sorry I made you drool! You're right. It's been difficult getting back OP, but I'm not beating myself up over it. I know that I'm eating better than I was, just not 100% OP.

HEARTMOM--Pic of Boogie is wonderful! Amazing artist for being able to capture that look. I bet the little guy didn't sit still for too long.

SOL--I hope you get things worked out with your puppy. It must be very difficult for you just now.

ROSALIE--Guess Nutritionists don't know everything!:?: I usually use swiss chard in a stir fry, but the quiche idea is great! I'll try to remember to look for WW semolina the next time I venture to Ambrosia--I haven't been there in a while--you might make it there before me:^:

GRACIOUS--I heard in the news that the Maritimes were getting our yucky weather. Poor you with no A/C. I remember those days! We used to sleep in the basement on the worst days. Believe it or not, I find that closing all the windows and blinds/drapes and getting fans going helps to keep the humidity out. Hope you and your family can keep cool!

ROSALIE & GRACIOUS--All your talk about the Walk Away the Pounds videos is making me want to go check out how much they are! I saw them in Chapters a while back, but didn't see a price. Sounds like a fun alternative cardio routine.

Thats it for now. I better go change my sig line. It may be a little while before I get back to my low of 165.

I forgot I had this to post too. I know we all know this info, but it's good to review and may help us over a bump or two in the road on our journey. I really needed to read this after my long weekend binge!

Seven Step Binge Recovery Plan from Pam Smith @ E-diets

Make A Plan! One of the worst parts of a food hangover is the helpless feeling that the binge beast is growling outside your door, just waiting for another chance to strike. Tame it by putting yourself back in control. Take 10 minutes the morning after to write down just how rotten you feel compared with how good you felt the day before your binge. Spell out your "detox" plan (eating and exercise) for the day.

Hide the Scale! You won’t like what you see. Besides, the numbers will lie. It’s not unusual for an extra 2 to 3 pounds to show up after a binge. But it’s not fat... honest. It’s just a combination of food and fluid retention from all that fat, sugar and sodium you sucked in. If you drink a lot of alcohol and eat a lot of food the number of "temporary pounds" can be even higher. Take at least a three-day post-binge break before your next weigh-in. It’ll be good for your psyche and will give your body a chance to get back into balance.

Drink Water! Drink Water! Drink Water! Rather than rushing to the scale to assess how much damage you’ve done, go get a glass of water. And then another. And another. Keep downing water throughout the day. Water is a natural diuretic and thus a great way to wash away the extra pounds. Start by drinking warm water with lemon. Warm water is less shocking to your system and the citric acid jumpstarts your digestion to finish processing last night’s dinner. The traditional advice of eight 8-ounce glasses doesn’t apply here. Make it at least 16 ounces after meals and 12 ounces after snacks.

Don’t Let the Lapse Become a Collapse! When temptation strikes, think twice before you bite. In the “mourning after” phase, it might seem perfectly reasonable to polish off that leftover birthday cake. The lapse leads to another, then another and, before you know it, it’s a full-blown collapse. Before you give in, remember that emotions can be just as powerful an eating trigger as real hunger, and it’s often hard to tell which is which. If you’re helplessly craving more goodies, take a 10-minute time-out to examine your feelings. Are you really just bored, tired, angry or lonely? If emotions are fueling your hunger, try a healthy alternative like a brisk walk first. Chances are it will calm you enough that you won’t need to eat or drink.

Serve Up Some Self-Esteem! You could spend the next day (or the next week) kicking yourself. But letting one weak moment cast a shadow over the rest of your life is counterproductive and just plain wrong. You might have made a mistake, but you aren’t a mistake.

Up Your Calorie Burn... With A Nap! Sleep is a secret agent in the war on weight. More than likely, the binge resulted in a night of tossing and turning. Bad sleep boosts stress hormones in the body. This makes blood sugars fluctuate even more wildly, leaving you hungry and staggering out to forage for more high-fat comfort goodies. A short 15-minute nap or quiet rest will do more good than the punitive 3-hour gym session you were planning.

Work Out, But Not Till You Pass Out! To burn off a 4,000-calorie nightmare, you’d have to spend the whole day at the gym. That kind of thinking sets you up to fail... and possibly to binge again! You should definitely exercise the next day, but don’t punish yourself. Stick with a light cardiovascular workout, like walking or jogging. Think of exercise as a tension reducer and a way to get back in touch with your body rather than the price you have to pay for being “bad.” Don’t starve yourself the next day. Try eating smaller, balanced meals evenly distributed throughout your day -- and keep it up for three days.

Not much time, but I did read all the replies about my puppy. We decided to take Neo back to the breeder and she gave us one of the females in the litter. She's is an adorable Blue Border Terrier and she is in perfect health!

We brought her home last night and she is just delightful! She even slept through the WHOLE NIGHT without any wimpering or anything. I think her personality will mesh more with Meister and me. Neo was a little skittish and this little girl isn't afraid of anything! We couldn't think of an AKC registration name and the breeder came up with Bever Lea's Fox Hollow Vixen since we live in Fox Hollow and a vixen is a female fox. So we're gonna call her Vixen. I like it. It fits her.

I'm working this morning so I can't post to everyone, but wanted to let you know about the puppy situation. I'll get back to everyone later today or this week-end.

Eating has been horrible since all this started. Time with Neo and going to the vet and being so upset that I have been eating nothing and wqhen I have it's been off plan - mostly because I didn't plan ahead and have legal stuff with me. At home everything is legal - we don't really have anything illegal at home. My challenge is getting back out there to train for the WDW Half Marathon! FOCUS!!

Thanks so much for your help!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!

I hope all the Americans on the board have a wonderful and safe celebration day filled with legal eating!!!

I did my WATP 1 mile again this morning and I am going strong. I had FANTASTIC news when I stepped on the scale this morning because it told me that I have lost 3 pounds! :D :D :D I am thrilled of course. I know that I needed the boost and am grateful for it.

ZANNE- I don't know what your usual exercise routine is but I am pleased with the WATP tapes. You wondered about the price and they are selling for $14.99 each at the Loblaws/SuperCentre stores.

I think that the 7 step recovery plan that posted is right on. Thanks for reminding us! I must say that yesterday I drank 4.5 litres of water (18 glasses) and I know that contributed to my loss of 3 pounds. I know that is water weight but that is what we have to get off first..and better off than on!

I do the same thing with the drapes and the closed windows. I agree that it keeps the humidity out..at least some! They said today that yesterdays temperatures broke a 104 year record in Fredericton by going over 35 and that the humidex was actually 45! I thought we escaped that when we moved away from Ontario! It is supposed to get a little cooler so here is to hoping.

SOLSHINE- I am happy to hear about your puppy switch. It really sounds like you found a wee girl puppy that suits the both of you..and with a cute name to boot! Personally, I have always favoured female dogs over male dogs. Will you be posting a pic for us to see?

QUILTER- What colour did you paint your kitchen? Drink some more water, I really think it is key to losing. I used to drink 5 litres a day and was losing then for the longest time I began drinking more coffee and went down to only 2 litres of water a day. I think 4 litres is my new minimum ( 16 glasses) . Especially in this heat, it certainly can't harm us!

Have a wonderful holiday.

SOL--Glad you found a great new puppy. I love the name. Enjoy your new baby.

GRACIOUS--thanks for letting me know the price. I found a set of 3 tapes on the Chapters site for $29.99 and the Amazon.ca site for only $14.99!!!! Before ordering I'd like to get the box in my hand to read to see if it would really suit me.

HAVE A WONDERFUL JULY 4TH to all our American neighbors. Keep safe and eat healthy!

Happy 4th to you all. Hope you have a wonderful day planned.. Guess we'll stay home today and maybe this evening go watch a firework show... Its good and warm here with a high dose of humity. I'm doing great OP but still need more veggies and some exercise...

The Quilter-I'll bet your kitchen is going to be wonderful when you get done... Now you get to do the fun stuff... Love your special K for dinner!!! No I didn't give you two of my weight loss I couldn't be so cruel or could I????

cherylco-I'm sure if you look on the Dilly bar its loaded with sugar. I've found if it doesn't say sugar free its loaded with sugar... Yep you're in the right spot!! A great big howdy to you...

Zanne-A great big congradulations on your 2 lbs. Wish I had a big pool to lay in, that sounds so refreshing...Love your Seven Step Binge Recovery.. Its great and the first time I've ever heard of it.

Solshine-Congrads on getting Vixen she sounds wonderful... Good luck getting back OP now that your doggie problem is solved....

gracious-Wow good for you 3 pounds!!! You are doing so good. Keep up the good work

Well guess I'll go get my shower and start my day.... Have fun!!!!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!! Hope everyone has a good day. I will be getting back on track since I totally blew it while I was at my mom's. Burgers and fries and a host of other no-nos. I paid for it last night. Felt lousy. I'm better this a.m. but believe me, I'll be good today.:D Had a good visit with my mom. Her dr. told us, for the first time, that her cancer is slow growing. We were very encouraged after her visit. She is going to go thru another 3 week round of chemo and see how she feels. Thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers. Don't stop now.:)

CHERYLCO: Welcome aboard. Glad you found us.

ZANNE: 2 lbs. WTG!! We have a pool like that too. Unfortunately with all the rain and weather we've had lately, it's green.:o Truely nasty. I'll be draining it today and scrubbing.

GRACIOUS: Congrats on the 3 lbs. WTG!

SOL: Sorry you had to take Neo back to the breeder, but glad you found another puppy. They really do have their own personalities and it's important to get one that fits yours. We found that out when we were breeding beagles. We're convinced that we'll never find another female like we had.

JEANIE: Hope you're having a good trip. Yes, it's been raining here but nothing like central TX. I'll take the rain tho. We know what it will be like in August.

HiedieHo All!!

Bed made, sink shining, laundry done except for the load in dryer now. Went to visit a firend in the hospital, then to Wal*Mart, Blockbuster and Walgreen's. Day pretty much shot! Am going out to pool but thought I'd see what's happening here.

I never went to the movies very much so the ones I got are the older ones. Persausion, Runaway Bride, Mansfield Park and Johnny Carson. This is just in case there's nothing good on TV and there hasn't been lately.

Do not know if I lost or not as my scales is whacko, but I feel good and see a change.

JACKK: I want to tell you way to go! Nice that the ending number is getting smaller.

Started this yesterday and got waylaid. So will try again! Everything that is supposed to be done is done! You know, sink/bed. DS went to store today, he made sure to get things I can have. There are things in fridge and freezer but he likes to go and shop for the fun of it! Of course that is not the economical thing to do! But he's happy! Tonight will be flipping channels as i love all the special shows to celebrate the 4th and it doesn't look like any will be repeated. PBS or A&E usally repeat in the late evening but not this year for some reason.

QUILT: Bad shaky needle! The main thing is feeling good. I have so much more energy than I did, it started after only a couple of weeks into this woe. So we get out of it more than weight loss. Too bad we're not closer I could stitch you some switch plates. That's what I want to do for myself, but always seem to make things for others and don't get to me! It's so much fun to redo. Did you take before and after shots? Depends how they fix the ribs, you can always ask them to please leave off the sauce!

JRED: I never think of this as a diet, just a way of life. I don't feel deprived as I have with other plans. MY DD lived in HI and kept us supplied with Kona coffee and macadamia nuts (the chocolate caovered ones of course). She goes back each year to visit friends and always brings me them. Christmas last year I had a orgy with a box of 12! In MHO Kona coffee is the best, I like their Classic, DIL likes Vanilla and Hazelnut.

GRACIOUS: Can't imagine what we'd do w/o air conditioning. Wonder what the ealy settlers did. Our ancestors must have been made of strong stuff!

VA: My staple drink is sparkling water or seltzer. I don't care for the flavored ones that much, but will squeeze a slice of fresh lemon or lime in it. Gives it a different taste. Also don't care for club soda even though it says low sodium etc.

CHRIS: You just haave to feel good about yourself!

TONI: You are doing greeeeat!

TRANQUIL: Gee, boohooing and feeling cocky all in the same post! I did write the help board last Tuesday night. Glad you reminded me, will have to check and see what they said. What a thoughtful friend SERENE is!

SERENE: Don't be discouraged, evrything balance out in the end!

ROSALIE: I always try to cook extra for the freezer. Mostly I will then use it for lunches or weekends when I don't cook and family likes to have pizza or something that's quick, easy and definitely not OP! Even when I lived alone, I would cook extra on weekends and have homemade TV dinners during the week. Thanx for info on semolina.

CHERYL: Welcome! Yes this the right spot!

ZANNE: Sometimes we have to go with more than just weight loss, our bodies show us good things are happening. I like "Don't let a lapse become a collapse!" We all need reminders now and then, thanks for posting the steps.

SOLSHINE: Glad you replaced your puppy, I think you would have only had heartache otherwise. Vixen sounds like a very well adjusted little girl! The two smartest dogs I even had were both female, one a Coolie and the other an Australian Shepherd. They were both like Lassie, knew what you wanted before you did and seemed to understand all. Both were perimeter trained and we never had to tie them up no matter where we went.

BOB: Isn't it terrible how we can't afford to be sick? We have insurance but things are so high we still have a pile of bills that are our responsibility. You have to be either poor or rich to be able to afford it.

MUSIC: Glad you had encouraging news about your Mom.

Gee, the heavens just opened up. DS just finished lawn in time!

Take care all, have a safe and happy day!

Shirley

All the Americans are out there playing on their special day it seems.

I just wanted to post that I was in some kind of energetic mood after doing my WATP 1 mile this morning and I just now finished the WATP 2 mile video. I thought it was excellent and I did the whole thing and worked up a sweat to boot. Of course in this weather that is not surprising but I worked out in the basement where it is still cool.

ZANNE- You were wondering if this would suit you. Now that I have done 1 & 2 I think it is basically walking with some added steps and weights inside your house. I am housebound with my 3 kids so this is great for me. It is motivating and I like that. If you are one who prefers to do exercise at home, if at all, then these would be good in my opinion.

MUSICTEACH- Glad to hear about your mom, I will certainly keep praying for her!

SEF- It is so true about the early settlers. We visited King's Landing Historical Settlement on Canada Day -July 1st- which is dated in the 1800's and to see them all clothed in the yards of fabric in the heat made you sweat just looking at them! We are certainly more pampered than they ever dreamed.

Off to get the laundry out!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY EVERYONE!!!

I hope you are all enjoying today and hope you are all off from work (for those who do so) and are with family and friends.

I finally have some time to get on this computer once again and try my darndest in getting in a post. I was about 45 minutes into a post yesterday when I got locked up and lost everything!!! Just my flipping luck!

I am typing on a laptop that I hooked up a keyboard to, as I can't type on a laptop at all. This will have to suffice until I am able to get the other computer fixed. When I came home Tuesday the computer was off so when I went to turn it on and I couldn't get the modem to dial up I asked Michael what had happened and he told me that he was on the computer and got shocked when lightening hit. Needless to say my genius son didn't have the common sense to turn off the computer when it was lightning and it must of fried the modem:rolleyes: So now I am in search of a cheap modem to install into the desktop.

The rains have been terrible here, not to mention the mosquitos. It's rained 27 of the last 31 days, and they say today will be no exception. Ijust hope if it rains it's before or after the time people would tend to do fireworks. Also with the rains have come LOTS of mosquitos! They are horrible. You open the front door and they fly in the house like you've put out the red carpet for them. I had an idea that I tried that actually worked! I took some AVON SKIN SO SOFT and put some in a spray bottle and sprayed around the front door/porch area and viola, there's no more mosquitos!!!!

I was able to get in my 4.5 miles this morning, felt I did it in a decent time despite getting out well after 9am and it being 90 degrees already. Got in 4.5 miles yesterday as well. but could only walk it, didn't have enough energy to muster up jogging, too darned hot and just didn't feel like it.

Going to my BIL & Sisters house in about 2 hours for BBQ. I told my BIL to leave off the sauce on some ribs and I'm taking the lf hotdogs along with DEBS CRUSTLESS CHEESECAKE!!!! Been a long time since I've made one. I made just a single one as I know if I had made a double batch I'd have more than a double portion! This way, thre's not much and surely will only be enough for a slice a person. Kids are in the kitchen decorating some cookies, found a mix that had patriotic cookie cutters and decorations, so that's keeping them busy.

COUNTRY, I don't know how you and MONET can sit in a hot and humid house, it would just kill me. I was born during the right time, when a/c was available! I can't imagine not having it. Why be miserable over a few dollars? I hope you get yourself comfortable soon!

FILLISE, I'm going to have to try the pasta recipe, though I'm not a big lover of pasta. I'll make some just for me, if any one wants to try it, fine, but if they like it, tough! They never want to try anything I make, esp. new stuff, so it would serve them right. Can't believe it's almost a year since you've had Belle-time sure does fly!!!

HEARTMOM, that picture of BOOGIE is wonderful! What was the occasion for this drawing to be done? Who's the artist?? Details!!

SEF, I may be the bargain hunter at the dept. type stores, but it sounds like you are the Queen at WD! I never see bargains like that at the WD down here. I just recently started to spend a bit more money at WD as I see Publix is increasing prices on many things I buy, esp. chickpeas. They're 15 cents a can cheaper at WD and the way we use them it pays for me to go there to stock up. Did you get any kind of answer from SUZANNE on why you aren't able to get in to the chat room?

SOL, I'm sorry to hear the problems that you've found in NEO. I think GRACIOUS gave you some good advice/insight. I can't comment since I know nothing about LP except for what I looked up on the web. I know you and VINCE made the right decision, don't ever second-guess yourself. I'd tell you the same if you decided to keep NEO. I'm glad to hear that VIXEN is settling in to her new home.

TV, not sure where you ordered your video from, but if not from EBAY or HALF.COM, next time, do try those sites, as you can save a ton of money buying from either site.

ROSALIE, glad to hear the namoura came out well. Forgive me for not e-mailing you the recipe, though I'm glad to hear you were able to get a copy of the book that it was in. They do make WW semolina, but I
haven't researched just where you could buy it, esp. in Canada. Did you try a ME store? I'll let you know if I come across anything. I'm sure the tiny piece you had made with the regular semolina didn't cause any damage, just look at the WIW results you had!!! CONGRATS on a new low:)

KIMMY, thanks for sharing the QR story, I can see what you mean about it being a great as well as terrible night. Do you still own a copy of that magazine? If so, you should scan a pic and post it on the board!!!

BOB, thanks for letting the board know about my modems demise the other day. Girl, you never had the bargain queen crown, I just let you think it. One day we'll have to have a bargain run off to see who could buy the most on a set amount! LOL! Engaged, nope, this is just a bday ring that I'm going to tie into our anniv. next month as I don't have the money (or any ideas what to get him) to get him anything else. Besides, I always get him much better presents that he gets me. I got dinner for my 40th-he's getting a 2 year subscription to a coffee mag as well as 1/2 a ring, with the other half coming for anniv. Hope you can come down either way that weekend, even if SB doesn't open by that date!

MERCY, hope you are enjoying your days off, I'm sure you deserve this time! No, I don't have any sinus problems, I get like that a few times a year due to hormones and I also get stopped up in the nose when I get sick from something like overeating, which usually leads to me giving some of my food up to the porcelain Goddess. Nope, no sinus problems for me, thank goodness, or maybe they'd be better to have instead!

QUILTER, I think my post may have bored some people, too long, but I share everything with you guys:D Don't worry about that temporary gain, it's just that TEMPORARY. I had the same thing today, was 127 yesterday, today 128. And I'm above my cushion, but even so, I have to keep telling myself THIS IS JUST TEMPORARY!!!

JACKK-CONGRATS on making your mini-goal! http://members.aol.com/eldemila/happy_dance.jpg Good for you! You are doing awesome and before you know it you'll reach your intended goal weight. 77lbs lost is just amazing and I'm sure I can speak for all of us on this board to say just how proud we are of your accomplishments this far. I do have to agree, I believe being on this board does help, it sure did for me!!! I'd love to go shopping with you-who knows, maybe one day!!!

JRED, glad to hear the scale is down for you! Happy and delighted to hear you enjoyed your TJ'S adventure! How could you NOT like that store-it's awesome. Sorry you didn't find the tomato splash, maybe they aren't making it any more, which, if that's the case, I'm glad I have a small stash of it. I've never let my kids clothes be name droppers. If I'm lucky enough to find a TOMMY or FUBU shirt dirt cheap, I'll buy it just as I would anything else of decent quality. It was a lot easier when they were younger, as they've got older they know what they like and don't like moreso. Michael is still very easy to buy things for in general, now Lauren, she's much like your DD, I can't buy her anything anymore. She now says if I don't like it, she will and vice-versa. Nope, only thing I can get her are shoes, and even the ones I bought the other day have to go back, so with her, I'm basically at a loss.

GRACIOUS, that was good advice and insight you gave SOL-thanks! I'm sure that vacation weight you've gained will be on a permanent vacation from your bod in due time-not to worry!!!

FLY, glad to hear the Hershey's is still at the level it was! I hear the Diet Rite is okay, though sweetened with Splenda, so I won't touch it. The lemon-lime spritzer with some sweetner sounds like a good alternative though.

CHRIS, oh Lord, you've got the scalitis now! You will hopefully NOT be following in my footsteps stepping on that thing all day long. It can be a blessing (when you lose) or a terrible obsessoion, or you can flat out hate the thing and want to throw it out the window (when you gain). It's that ol love/hate relationship!!! You're doing great! Hey, that's a great idea, I should have a new DL photo taken of myself, mine is soooo terrible! I have to tell that story another time, about my DL!

TONI, I bet you look mahvelous with the new doo!!! CONGRATS on the big loss this week, that's great news!!! Thomas Jefferson-hmmm, gonna have to go searching for a pic of him to see who your resemble!!

TRANQUIL , don't fret about the temp. gain, I'm right behind you with that, TOM is due in the next few days-UGGHHHH!!! Well, at least it's going to be here while ELI'S gone;)

GYM, doing 3 miles is great! I think I'm following your lead and staying off the scale until next week as well.

SERENE, heck, I could of told you after doing the first 2 out of 3 that you were wasting your time on that scale. If the scale fairy doesn't get you with her wand after the 2nd time, there's no reason to keep trying-UNFORTUNATELY. I think there's many of us in the same boat this week, so you are in good company.

CHERYL, WELCOME TO THE BOARD!! http://members.aol.com/eldemila/welcome_flowers.jpg Glad you've decided to join us! Yep, you did it right:D I believe the Barilla brand is SB LEGAL, but just remember quantities and starchy carbs. Personally, I try to stay away from SF stuff, has a lot of garbage in it. BUT also, when you are new to SB you are trying to get the desire for sugars out of your system. Your body doesn't really know that you are giving it fake sugar instead of real and for most, this will keep you craving the sweets. Best that you detox from all sugars first and then if you want the SF stuff later... Please feel free to continue to ask questions, we're all more than happy to help.

ZANNE, glad you got those 2lbs back off the ol bod! Thanks for posting that BINGE item, it's a good one to put on the RECOMMENDED READING BOARD if it isn't already on there.

MUSIC, sorry you aren't feeling up to par, hope you feel better soon. Glad to hear your DM is doing better.

FRUIT, more trauma-oye vey!!! Hope it's nothing serious!

BOY, I acutally got caught up. Did I miss anyone? If so, it's not intentional.

Well, I hope you all have a safe and happy 4th of July and I look forward to seeing you all on the board tomorrow.

Have to run and do my cheesecake and get ready to go to my sisters house.

Hi everyone.

I know I have been AWOL again. Things have been very stressful here. I have not gained weight and am actually down to 267. But....I don't know how. My son is not doing well.

Welcome to all the newbies. I'm sorry that I have not read the posts, but this is a great place for support.

Everyone have a great day.

DEB- the drawing of Boogie was actually done at Kmart. The guy's name is Larry Moore and he only charged $10 for the drawing and it only took about 5 minutes. He had a little booth set up outside Kmart doors.

Good Morning! WOW! What a difference a day makes. It's actually cool here this morning. It's going to get warmer, but at least the humidity is gone.

Thanks for all the Congrats on the 2 lbs gone. The clothes are still more snug than I'd like, but I'm working on it. Did my cardio and ab work last night and felt good. Still not 100% OP. I had a couple of Oreo's:nono: I should just give them to DH to get rid of.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Independence Day!

GRACIOUS--I've been trying to do exercise. I seem to fall off the wagon, but keep getting back on. I do elliptical or exercise bike for cardio and also do some weights. Thanks for your opinion of the tapes. Sounds like another alternative for cardio. Also sounds like something I can get my 4 y/o DS to do with me. DH and I are trying to set a good example for him. Trying to give him good habits now so he won't have a problem later.

DEBELLI--Mosquitoes! YUCK!!!!! That's a great idea you had about the Skin So Soft! Glad you found a way to get plugged into the board.

SHEANN-- ((((((((HUGS)))))))) Thoughts are with you and your son.

That's it for now.

Hello everyone! Like the new layout!

Hope y'all had a safe and happy 4th and/or Canada Day and/or Bastille Day!

We have had many evening storms this week, brining somw MUCH needed rain. It is hot and humid!

I've been back on plan about 98%. Made Deb's d-lish crustless cheesecake with blueberries and raspberries for a 4th treat.

Been exercising regularly but have made a nerve in my hip unhappy and am gimpy now. Going to see the chriopractor today to get some relief.

Going to Orlando next week for a quick trip to the Southern Living Convention. Driving down with my friend/sponsor. Should be a good trip.

Going to drop the beach house film today because I didn't get it done last Fri!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Peace,
FROG

Good morning ladies. I wonder about the Americans in the group..did you get July 4th and today off for an extra long weekend? From what I have *not* heard on the news here in Canada it sounds like everyone had a safe Independance Day and no acts of terrorism. What a blessing!

I did both those workouts yesterday and drank 5 litres (20 glasses) of water!! It was very hot again but last night we had fantastic thunder and lightening storms. We had our own *fireworks* by God Himself. I find them beautiful because they speak of His power. We are grateful for the rain because it really cooled things down here and I think it is the end of the heat wave for now. Our poor garden needed the drink.

ZANNE- I can't remember if I mentioned it yesterday when I said I did the 2 mile tape but I did it with my 8, 6 and 3 year old! You certainly would be able to do it with your 4 year old son. They did their version along side of me and it was rather fun. I agree with you on teaching them these good habits when they are young. My kids are all thin and healthy and I am so thankful. We live rural and they play outside all the time. We don't have television reception by choice but the kids do watch videos. I must say that they spend most of their time playing instead of sitting on the couch, which I think is fantastic for them!

HEARTMOM- Wow!! What a fantastic deal with the wonderful sketch of Boogie.

SHEANN- I am so sorry to hear your son is still not doing well. Have you gotten anymore word from the doctors? Is he still having seizures? Thank you for posting and reminding us so we can pray.

MONET- Where on earth are you????

Okay...off to do my WATP!! Have a good day.

Hi everyone and thanks for all the nice words about my loss....its very encouraging.

A big thanks to Zanne for posting the binge info. I am trying to get the three beers I drank last night out of my head. YUCK! I am going to look at it as a lesson....I felt sooo thin in the waste yesterday morning.....now I don't.

I went to a picnic, I took some OP pasta salad...figured I would have a burger and some pasta salad, my freind makes her coleslaw with equal so that was good. For some reason I decided to have some beers, they made me feel horrible. Never Ever Again!!!! The scale is up 2#s from yesterday....o well I am OP today big time!! I'm going to exercise also....
Gracious....I'll be doing the WATP 2 mile!!

Hope everyone had a good 4th!

Glad to see you back Deb!

Hello! Hope you all are doing well. I've got big plans today in that kitchen, but I'm running a little slowly this morning. Too many holiday festivities this year. Then Miss Maddie was up at 3 a.m. walking around the house. I had to get up and make sure she was okay. I don't know if she heard something or what. But it's made me extra sleepy this morning.

ZANNE---thanks for the seven steps. That was GREAT! I particularly enjoyed DON’T LET A LAPS TURN INTO A COLLAPSE. Boy, could I relate to that one!

SOL---So glad to hear that you now have a healthy dog. Vixen sounds adorable. I love the way puppies smell. Is she a wiggle worm??? Come on, girlfriend, get back on BOB’s wagon. We’re all here and having a grand time! Join in the fun.

GRACIOUS---Well, you got an extra special 4th of July present . . . THREE POUNDS GONE!!! That’s so great! We painted the kitchen green. It’s gorgeous! Thanks for the encouragements to drink water. I have my big 50 oz. bottle sitting right here staring me down. So hopefully that will help. But I seriously do have to get my but up and doing a workout. I think I’ll pull out Leslie Sansone’s old tapes.

TONI---We just had the plumber here and he says that gas line is working fine, so we will go purchase a new range either later today or tomorrow. So we can get rid of that ugly monster from the 70’s. That will be the single most beautifying thing we do. Perhaps I can get a picture and post it when we’re all finished. Here’s a funny thing . . . I keep finding more things to do. This morning I put on my new bright white switch plates and realized that the outlets and switches are a dirty almondy color. So I told Paul we were going to have to get new outliets and rewire them. He just sighed and said okay. I think he realizes this thing is bigger than both of us.

BOB---Hope your hibernation yesterday went well. Thanks for the tip about Nigella. I’ve never heard of her. Is she on the Food Network? I like Rachel Ray and her 30 minute meals on there. I’m also a Barry Manilow fan. I love watching him perform.

MUSIC---Glad you were encouraged by your visit with your mom’s doctor. Sending you both hugs and good wishes! You can easily get back op, just give yourself a few days to detox. And remember how bad you felt after those no-no’s. If you keep that in the front of your brain, then you can turn away from those temptations. I had a little too much to drink yesterday at our 4th party. Split a bottle of wine with the host and it was gone by the end of the evening. So today, I’m a bit sluggish. Trying to flush that alcohol out of my system. So I was pretty unwise with my decisions last night.

SEF---If you want stitched switch plates, then you should give that present to yourself. Did you read what I did in my message to Toni? The switch plate crisis! I didn’t take before pictures, but I’m sure I have some pictures taken in my old ugly kitchen at some point. I know I have some empty ones from when I moved in. I’ll try to find some. Luckily there was not much sauce on the ribs last night. I probably only had about a tsp. I asked him and he said that he puts more vinegar than sugar in his sauce. It’s homemade and has a real bite to it. They had baked regular potatoes. I knew this before hand. So I cut up a bunch of veggies (zucchini, summer squash, cauliflower, mushrooms, tomatoes and put them in an olive oil balsamic vinegar and spice marinade. Then we grilled them in foil. They were great. So I just ate one piece of meat and the veggies. They asked that we bring ice cream for dessert. So I also cut up a canteloups and added some frozen blueberries. So that I wouldn’t be tempted by the ice cream. Actually, the melon/berries dish went over really well. It’s nice when you go to friends’ houses where you feel at home and can bring anything you want to supplement their menu. Did you see Ed McMahon on CNN this past week? He was talking to Larry King about his years with Johnny Carson. It was neat because they showed a lot of old clips.

DEB---Sorry to hear that you are having computer problems. I hope you can get it all sorted out. Is your modem (the one that got zapped) internal or external? Can you see it or is it inside the computer? Just wondering. Thanks for your words of encouragement about those results from the scales. Truly I know that I have been eating too many starchy carbs per day. It’s something I must change. If I do that and then get back to regular exercise, I should have better WIW results.

Bye! Enjoy your weekend.

We had a great day yesterday..full of fun good eats and just nice fellowship. Let me back track a little :) .

I really enjoyed chatting with you ladies last Tuesday. WIW was the same as last week..153. I cooked for the BBQ on Wed and mowed the grass....man was it hot! I think I will try to do some more today if I can move these old tired bones. The best way to describe how I feel today is lazy. And to be very honest I've been disscouraged lately with my lax efforts in getting the last 17 pounds off.

Tranquil...I forgot to post that recipe but I will right after this post and feeding the kids some watermelon. They think they need some breakfast...LOL

Deb...hope you get your computer back up and running soon. Glad you have the lap top though so at least we get to hear from you. Your post are very encouraging.

SheAnn...Praying for your son. I'm sorry to hear that he isn't doing better.

HeartMom...that picture of boogie is just adorable. It's hard to believe they did that at K-mart.

(((hugzzz)))) Everybody! Sorry I haven't been a good note taker lately...but I am reading and praying.

Good Friday Morning All:wave:

I hope you all enjoyed the holiday yesterday, at least those of us who live in the US, but then again, I hope everyone enjoyed the day no matter where you may live.

I just got in from my walk - got in 6.5 miles today:spin: Took me forever though, I petered out quickly, it's just so hot down here and I've been getting such a late start. But what was REALLY great was I wore a pair of the new sneakers I bought and I broke them in instead of the usual thing that happens, that they break my feet! COMFORTABLE and no blisters!!!!!!!!!

The 4th at my sisters was nice, basically just family. I didn't do too bad, but did over eat on SB LEGAL TREATS-hardly ate any real food. The cheesecake came out sooooo good! I had two helpings and was ready to roll off the chair I felt so stuffed-what a pig I can be! I used 1/3 cup agave making this one, next time I'm going to try it with only 1/4 cup.

Eli leaves today:( He hasn't done the first thing to prepare and he's at work. I swear, the man can drive you batty sometimes!

Has anyone read the recent PREVENTION article about THE ICE CREAM DIET"? My Mother is ready to kiss the ground of the person who wrote this article. I haven't had time to read the entire article YET but it recommends a cup a day of ice cream for those who follow the diet-if she can't do this diet, there is no hope for her at all I told her!

Hopped on the scale today, at 127. Hoping to see my cushion soon, but may not since TOM is due soon. Just have to put that patience of mine to the test.

Today is FRIDAY FUNNIES and I have my FF stuff in the old computer so I really don't have anything to contribute today. The only thing, small as it is, was something I saw on a plumbers truck this morning when I was walking that said "I'M TOILET TRAINED!" Thought that was cute!

SHEANN, what's the latest with your son? Glad to see you back posting but hate to hear that he's not doing better.

BOB, yuck, bad scallops! I hope they replace them with double the amount. I bought some salmon yesterday that I need to make or freeze. Have lots to cook today-have some shrimp I'm going to make today as well, have to before THAT goes bad, also have som extra lean ground beef to make the HAMBURGER QUICHE later-whoa, seems I'm cooking up a storm lately, at least for me! I have a peach cobbler recipe I want to try as well;)

HEART, I can't believe this guy did that in 5 minutes and it was only $10-what a steal!!! He's great!

ZANNE, mosquitos are still not knocking on my front door-can't believe the Skin So Soft actually worked! Oh yes, if I didn't find a way to be plugged back onto the board I think you'd hear me crying all the way up in Canada!

FROG, have a safe trip down to Orlando. Let us know when you return.

CHRIS, you'll be pissing those beers out soon, along with those 2lbs:)

QUILTER, the modem is internal. I'm just going to look for a cheap one to install. I don't want to put more money into this computer, but I need to get it done and up and running. I have too many important things on that computer with my AOL-I can't access any of it from the laptop I'm using:(

COUNTRY, don't get discouraged about those last 17lbs. It took me from February til June to lose the last 10lbs. Just remember, patience always pays off and it WILL come off:)

Okay gals, I'm outta here, off to the kitchen I go. I'll check in this evening, kids will be with their Dad and ELI will be in the sky.

Have a wonderful weekend!

CALLING THE DUNGEON MISTRESS.... CALLING THE DUNGEON MISTRESS.... I've Dog Gone Gone and Done it this time!!!

I have officially had my first complete FALL off the wagon, not only that but whoever it is following behind in their own cars ran me over as well... BOB... I think I had a defective seatbelt!!!!!!

I've been doing sooooo well lately... well yesterday I did the ultimate NO NO... are you ready for this? I'm confessing ALL my sins from the day yesterday...

Went to my MIL's and had a few bites of watermelon... not too bad. I had ribs and chicken smothered in some sort of barbecue sauce that had to be something other than legal!! Still not too bad... Ate a couple of bun-less hot dogs with mustard and was happy with that!
Got to work - now some of you know the jail sends down a tray for whoevers working during meal time... and it's usually something that I can't even describe, much less be willing to actually consume. Well... yesterday they catered in for the 4th of July... and They brought me a plate of barbecue ribs, potato salad, yams, green beans, and 2 rolls (the white squishy kind)
I ATE THE WHOLE THING... EVERY BITE!!!!!!!! BOTH ROLLS!!!!!!!!!
Dear God what was I thinking????? I swear I even licked my fingers clean... nothing but the rib bones left!

Oh but that isn't where it ends... are you still breathing? Pick your chin up off the floor... On the way home... I stopped and picked up some food for the crew here... ( I worked 2nd shift, and got off at midnite, so they were up) and on the way home... I ATE A BACON CHEESEBURGER.

Who the **** am I and what did I do with BETH????? I've been on this WOE since 1/21 and the worst I did was one stinkin burrito. I can count the days I've eaten something off plan without resorting to using my toes.... WHAT INVADED MY BODY???

OK... Today I've re-committed 150%... I ate my plain cereal with agave for breakfast, and I have a chef salad planned for lunch, and I'll be grilling something LEAN with NO SAUCE for dinner. I'm doing one serving of starchy carbs a day for a while... and NO fast foods!!! (Unless I grab a salad on my way to work if I don't fix one here) and it's ALL WATER for me!!!! I'm determined NOT to go under here!!! This is making me VERY determined to get back in the groove!!!

I got a new tattoo Saturday! I'm so proud of it, and I don't want to gain any poundage to make the shape of it awful...LOL. Plus it's in the small of my back, and I can't wear clothes to show it off until I LOSE weight!!!!

I'll try and post a pic of the new tat... I took one the day after I had it done. It's in the icky peeling stage right now (I'm peeling in techi-color..LOLOL) and should be looking fine in about 3 weeks! The orange and yellow are UV reactive, so one day when I'm able to wear hip huggers and a tank top out in public at a club, I'll see if I glow ;)

See Y'all Later!! :)

(I noticed the pic posted rather dark... it's a flourescent/BRIGHT tattoo in person! Lousy pic... gorgeous tat)

Thanks for the welcomes :)

I know your secret now! You all spend so much time reading and posting on this board you have little time left over to eat!
I found the 4th pretty simple to get by on with this plan. Only slip up was a piece of strawberry shortcake for my mom's birthday cake.
Brought my bread for my burger. Bypassed all the munchies. Drank only water.
I ordered the SB shoppers guide & cookbook. Going to try the stuffed peppers tonight.
My only weakness for food is pizza and shortbread cookies. Anyone have a substitute for those? And how bad is pizza? A "whoops? or a "Oh my God I need to walk 50 miles a day for the next week?

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th! I went to a cookout and then to see our town's fireworks.

My eating was not good however. I don't know, my head just doesn't seem to be in the game, so to speak. It is so easy to pull me off program these days. I'm starting to reach a real crisis point--I have to decide whether I'm staying with it or giving up. If I had to decide right this minute, I'd give up.

My two year anniversary is coming up and I haven't lost any weight to speak of in a year. I'm not sure if I can go on with this much longer.

Ok this is more depressing than I intended.

Hey All:wave:

It's after 1pm and he's STILL not packed nor has he taken a shower! I'm sure it won't be a problem, due or die, his butt is getting on that plane. We just worry about how long the lines may be at the airport. At least I got him to eat some lunch, made the shirmp casserole over brown & wild rice mix-delicious!!!!

BETH, uh oh:shrug" WHA HAPPUN FUR YOU? Okay, it was an isolated incident, a loss of mental stability, a full moon, but it's over and done with. I don't think there's anyone on the board who can't relate to what you went through, myself included. I know exactly how you feel as when that happened to me after being OP for almost 2 years without a cheat I didn't know what had invaded my body, mind, heart and soul. You have to take this event and learn a lesson of some sort with it. Turn it into something positive. Just don't let what happens to so many people happen to you. They see no ill-effects on the scale from 1 day like this and then they think they can do it again and not have anything happen. If it's a once in a blue moon thing, usually, that's true, but that's usually not the case, it usually ends up happening more and more - I'm living proof of that. So, just put it behind you and I hope today will be a piece of cake for you - of coure, SB LEGAL!!!! Love the new tatoo - wish I was game enough to get one. I thought of a heart made up of ELI'S name, the E as the top of the heart and the L & I the sides - but I'm too much of a woos, and besides, if I ever got sick of him....LOL!!!

CHERYL, ahhh, you found one of our secrets out! Pizza is one of the worst foods on SB, unless you make it SB LEGAL:D I do believe we have a recipe or two for pizza on the recipe boards, but what I find is the best is if you can find some WW PITA, you can make a great mini-pizza on that used as your base. Shortbread cookies - yum! Now that I know I have a recipe for! Check out the JULY 2000 RECIPE BOARD link below:

http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?postid=150361&highlight=shortbread+cookies#post150361

Look down and you will find the recipe for the OAT SHORTBREAD COOKIES dated 7/20. They won't be exactly like the shortbreads you probably like, but hopefully a good substitute;)

FILLISE, sorry to hear about the inner struggle you are having about this WOE. I think there's something to be studied about how when we go off plan just how hard it is for so many to get back on track. You know this WOE works, you've shown yourself this fact. If you gave up, or gave in, what would be next? Weight gain? Trying yet another diet that more than likely won't be healthy as SB is? What would be your alternative. Just sit down and think, and think hard about it and I"m sure you'll realize that this WOE does work and it works for you, you just have to make it work once again. You know you can do it, you just have to find the same motivation you had when you started 2 years ago, it's there! Think about how good you feel when you are OP, how you feel about yourself and how you're eating OP makes you feel physically. For me, I know the first 3 days are the hardest for me-if I can make it past those 3 days, I'm home free. Think of each hour and get through an hour, then make it a day and then make it 3 days-if you can get through those 3 days I know you'll be fine. You know, if you want/need to talk, I'd love to chat with you-just e-mail the telly girlfriend and I'll call you :) Maybe a threat of a visit from the DUNGEON MASTER would whip your butt into shape?

Okay, off to the bedroom to see when Mr. is going to get into the shower!!!

Check in later!

Hi, I have the same weakness for pizza, luckily it is easy to make it sb legal.
If you have a Trader Joes around you , they have great stone ground whole weat pita bread. You can use ragu pizza sauce and skim mozzarella. Its really great!! Use any SB toppings.
When I have the TJ Pitas I cut them in half, around the edge. Saves on carbs or if your hungry you can have 2.

Deb, Thanks for posting that response to Filise....its very uplifting!
Your right about the three day thing and the cheating and seeing no ill effect then thinking its ok to cheat just one more time.

Thanks!

HiedieHo All!!

Sorta mad at myself! Yesterday was Hieritage Day Celebration in Olde Town. I had planned on going down and see what was happening and visit the HFH booth. DS and I got to doing odds and ends and I forgot all about it! A senior moment? I watched the specials on TV last night. The Boston Pops was the best one.

GRACIOUS: Gracious you were full of energy! I often think about those long dresses ancestors wore, hems must have gotten filthy and been hard to wash. Now we have washers and dryers, all sorts of soaps and bleaches and what do wear? Mini skirts!

FRUIT: Oh no! You don't need anything else on your plate. Hope all improves.

DEB: Too bad about the computer. SkinSoSoft is very big where I come from. The hunters (men too) use it, say they wouldn't survive without it! One time my BIL wouldn't turn off the TV during a football game (God forbid he should miss anything!), lightning struck and REALLY blew up the TV! What a mess. The only reason there were such wonderful bargains at WD is they are having a promotion going on to sell their savings card! No answer from 3FC about chat room entry problem. Post too long? Never! ONe of our septic cleaners back home had "Nobody sticks their nose in our business!" on their truck.

QUILTER: Can't get use to the use of firecrackers here. Back east they are illegal and if you want fireworks you can go to a show. Here they are used all year long, around the holidays you can buy them on every street corner. I mean it, they set up tents and sell off a lot like they sell Christmas trees. Then don't plan to go to bed early and sleep, they pop off all night. But it is fun to see them! Just a big kid that hasn't grown up yet!

That's the trouble with painting or remodeling, it makes other things look drab and you keep going on and on and on and..............like your switch plate crisis, not a big deal buuuuuut!

Saw the Larry King show, really enjoyed it. We do so much better if we can plan our food when we go somewhere and that our friends don't mind.

SHEANN: So sorry about your son. We have not heard from you in so long we didn't know what his status is. Prayers!

BOB: Love the Boston Pops! Always watch when they are on. I know to some it's not swift to like Manilow, but I'm slow so that's okay, I like him!

COUNTRY: We all feel bad about our lax efforts at times, but we all know how to solve the problem don't we?

BETH: Confession is good for the soul and now that you have done it, we give you absolution, as penitence you will do write 25 times, "I can stick to this woe!" Now, wipe those tread marks off and get back on the right track out of traffic!

CHERYL: Make your own pizza. You can make it on pitas, or there is a zucchini crust pizza and a macaroni pizza on the recipe boards somewhere. I love pizza, so often make them. Ragu has a sugarless sauce and toppings can be the usual, but no pineapple! That thought, of pineapple on pizza gives me the shivers! There are different kinds of cookies on the boards too.

FILLISE: I hear you! ever since Christmas I have beem like you, not losing. I even gained a couple of pounds, which scared me. But I kept pluggung away and suddenly there has started to be a change once again. I don't know how many pounds, it has to be a few as I can see it in my clothes and face. The thing that kept me going was FEAR! I thought what I'd be like if I regained those 60# I've lost. I just don't want to be like that again even if I stay the way I am now (which I don't want to do either.) That kind of thinking helped me, maybe it will give you food (the mind kind!) for thought!

Did I tell you I was at sixes and sevens about what to cook for supper the other night, so I created with what was on hand. Browned some hamburger, added drained cans of Rotel tomatoes and diced tomatoes, measured the reserved juice and added enough water for the brown rice I wanted, added a couple of cans of red beans and let it all simmer until the rice was done. Added a little garlic, pepper, salt, pinch of sweetner and viola! supper was ready. Pretty good too!

Okay the dryer buzzer is calling me.

Take care, Shirley

The National Poetry Contest had come down to the last two, a Yale graduate and a redneck from Texas. They were given a word, then they were allowed two minutes to study the word and come up with a poem that contained the word.

The word that they were given was "Timbuktu."

First to recite his poem was the Yale graduate. He stepped to the microphone and said: Slowly across the desert sand Trekked a lonely caravan; Men on camels, two by two, Destination Timbuktu.

The crowd went crazy! No way could the redneck top that, they thought.

The redneck calmly made his way to the microphone and recited: Me and Tim a huntin' went. Met three whores in a pop up tent. They was three, and we was two, So I bucked one, and Timbuktu.

The redneck won hands down!

Hang in there!! I've been at this weight since Dec..I can relate. But remember there are other benifits besides weight. I had 7 night a week indigestion...was bloated...my feet would swell and I had the energy level of a slug. To be honest I could barely tie my own shoes. Think about before this WOE...is now better or worse? If I can help in even the tiniest way give me a holler.

Hi everyone,

Did my 3 mile walk early this morning. Got to bed late last night because of fireworks, etc. I usually don't sleep well after I've been somewhere later at night. I keep thinking about everything. Nothing else is going on here. I guess that is good news, though!

Deb-I agree about your comment about a/c. I love this invention!

TV-I've ordered several times from half.com. Great place.

Bob-Don't you just hate it when you fix food that turns out rotton? I've returned rotton Taffy Apple Salad to a deli in a store, and though they refunded my money, they didn't even say they were sorry for my inconvenience or act like they wanted to get the salad out of the display.

Frog-Glad you fot that much needed rain. It's little things like that that make us happy.

Beth-I'm sure the same old Beth will reappear soon, and sporting a new tattoo to boot! Hang in there.

Sef-Your dinner sounds yummy.:T

Hi to everyone else.

Just a quickie

Fillise - Don't give up. You have to think about what could happen if you go completely off this woe. I know you wouldn't want to gain back what you have already lost. Even if you haven't had any major losses this past year I assume you are maintaining which is much better than gaining. I am in the same 'boat' as you. I haven't really lost anything since last September and I do get ticked off sometimes (frequently) but am still thankful that I haven't gained. I just know that if I threw in the towel and went back to eating the way I did before I would gain back everything I lost and I just can't bear the thought of that. I hope you find the strength to hang in there.

Marie.

Well, it’s a wild and crazy Friday night at this house. Not really, I am in my jammies already. My knees are killing me tonight. Today I took off all the toe molding around the baseboards in the kitchen. YUCK!!! I have not idea what decade that was last done in. I’m sure it wasn’t in this century. GROSS!!! But not anymore. It’s all been scrubbed clean as a whistle. Also did some touch-up painting. Dear Paully put up the new ceiling fan and light. The room is really starting to look great. Tomorrow I may start practicing on what I’m going to do on those countertops. This may be a complete disaster, but I’m going to give it a whirl and see what I end up with. We are also going to go stove shopping and I may want to hit the fabric store to get some ideas for some little curtains.

Well, hope you all survived the holiday. I have finally started to feel a bit better. We grilled out on the deck tonight and it was yummy. We had hamburgers (mine on ww pita) and I put marinated veggies on bamboo skewers. Those were so yummy.

DEB---Not to make a stupid pun or anything, but I truly think an ice cream diet is something I could sink my teeth into. Ha!!!! How funny was that? Hey, good thoughts and travelling mercies going out there to ELI on his trip. Of course, I’m not even sure if he got to the airport. Let’s hope he got to take a shower before he got on that plane. LOL

BETH---Wow, a tattoo!!! You sure are brave. I’m such a chicken. I’d be so scared that it would hurt to bad. I always said that I wanted to just get a dot for a tattoo. And then I could really say that I had a tattoo, but it would be so teeny. Do you have more than just this one?

CHERYL---You are doing great!!! I’m so glad you feel good about how you did yesterday. It’s really hard when you start a new way of eating and then a holiday comes within a few weeks of that. You should feel great that you made it through with only one slip up. Yes, we do gab a lot on this board. You watch . . . pretty soon you’ll be addicted to see what’s going on with everybody.

FILLISE---I can relate with what you said in your last post. I was in that same situation just kind of at a stand still. I really wasted months trying to decide what to do. It’s a bad situation to be in. I was so unhappy with myself. But still couldn’t make the move. I have to tell you that I did get back on plan about 3-4 weeks ago and am so happy that I decided to stick with SB and be faithful to what I needed to do. I saw BKM one day and we talked a lot about eating and wanting to lose weight. Then I saw Dr. Phil on Oprah getting real about fat. That was eye opening!!! I saw myself in just about everyone on there who was struggling with eating issues. Then later that night the Dungeon Mistress called me and we talked for about an hour. I didn’t have some huge revelation during any of that. But I gradually got this kind of peaceful feeling. I didn’t promise DEB anything. It was just a conversation about where I was going and what I wanted. The next morning I decided to try and eat an SB legal breakfast. Then I thought I’d make a legal lunch. Those two meals seemed pretty easy. So I just kept going. I just started by taking on one meal at a time. That’s all. And I feel so much better without all that sugar. No kidding. I’m not trying to pressure you. I’m just trying to take the pressure off you. Just try tomorrow morning and see how it goes. Whatever you choose, we will be here. I do hope you can see your way clear to do what’s right for you. You know you are worth good health!!!!

SEF---I know what you mean about the firecrackers. They are illegal here too, but you’d never know it. Everybody has them. Ithink that you have to go to IN or KY to buy them. Big deal! I truly hate them because Maddie gets so scared aroudn them. She refuses to go outside and go potty if there are crackers going off anywhere within a ten-mile radius. LOL

Girls, I can’t even keep my eyes open. So I have to say good night. Catch you later!

HiedieHo All!!

Just a late night check in to see what's up. Pictures are framed. I have one that is driving me crazy, it is an old picture from 1964 and had been chopped up to fit in my wallet. Now I can't get it to copy as a 5 x 7, comes out about 4 1/2 x 9 1/2. Frustrating! Wasted more darn paper and ink. I also want to find a picture of my parents. Know the picture just have to find it.

COUNTRY: You feel the same way I do. The benefits I have gained, not counting the weight loss, are far more important to me. I know I will lose more, I've just been stalled. Only lately have I seen a change again.

GYM: Whenever we had been anywhere at night or a long trip, my DH would get home and fall into bed. Not me! I always have to relax a little to be able to sleep, so I sit down and read or stitch or crochet. When we were first married he couldn't see how I could be tired and still want to sit and "work", took him a while to understand that the stitching is not work but a pleasure. I am often up at 2 or 3 because I can't sleep, better to get up than to lay there and toss and turn!

ROSALIE: I hope Fillise is listening to us!

BOB: I wouldn't go that far! These old knees wouldn't let me!

QUILT: Sounds like so much fun! Hard work, yes but worth it! Just the anticipation!

Seems like a slow board. Good in one way, we can keep up! Bad, in as much we don't see the news everyone has to share.

Take care, Shirley

Good morning everyone!

Thank you all for your prayers and concern for my son. Here's an update.

Well, as you all know he was having seizures. Then they told him he had an anxiety disorder. Then he was depressed and suicidal. Now he is temporarily diagnosed as Schizophrenic (his therapist said that she thought he was depressed and having coping problems). He has been in and out of the hospital. He and his wife are separated because of this (they will be having marital counseling) and he was living with me and my Mom. I had to quit my job because I was spending up to 3 nights a week at the hospital until 4-6am. It has been very stressful here for him, which is what he does not need. My Mom has been treating him very badly. No matter what he would do, it was not the right thing. She blew the other day (for no reason) and told us both to leave. She was like a crazy woman. On the way out the door she told him just to remember that everything was all his fault. Well, we started walking and he told me he needed to go to the hospital or he was going to walk in front of a car. We stopped at a house and they called an ambulance. We were at the hospital for 4 hours and then they have this "crisis team" who talked to him. They found him an Adult Foster Care home about a mile from me that is leased by the Mental Health Center. That is where he is right now. He had a good nights sleep and feels much better. He can pretty much do as he pleases (except sign himself out, yet). It is so peaceful there. It's out in the country with lots of trees, a little path leading to a stream... Anyway, I thank God that he's ok. He does need all your prayers though to get through this.

As for me, I am at home with my Mom. Things are cordial but tense. I spend most of my time in my room listening to music. I have to stay here until the lease is up... so I'm trying to stay calm by doing what I can.

Anyway, that's where he and I are at for now. Trying to cope with this awful situation.

Thanks everyone!

Hope everyone had a great 4th. I went to my family in Columbus (about 2 hours from my house) and did some swimming but mainly ATE!!! Man did I ever....I ate corn, cheese cake, breads, you name it, I ate it...2 days straight. We came home last night and I felt like I had maybe put on a few pounds....(duh)...well the scales said 120!!! Granted, I had on a shirt and it was 8 p.m. and I had drank 40 oz of water in the car on the way home...but man, what a shock.
Well, this am I was 116-117...scales could not make up their mind. Well, that is just fine with me. Even if it is 117. so back to my normal eating style and drinking a little extra water.
All that dammage done, it was worth it! I just do not plan on going down hill....that is so hard for me. Like once I start, I keep going.
I have always been a big yo-yo girl, like a 20-30 pound yo-yo. I am at my smallest I have been in my entire adult life and I finally feel good, both inside and out. I will not let a few "binge" days set me back. At least that is what I am telling myself.
Funny thing is when I started, I would have been 100% ok to reach and stay at 130, with an ultimate goal of 125. Well, I am 8-9 pounds below where I never thought I would be and can not imagine being 125...and thinking I would feel fat if I gained 9 pounds. It is all so mental.

Sheann...
My continued thoughts and prayers for you and you whole family. I am really sorry to hear that he and his wife are seperated. I hope you and your mom can work out your differences. It is such a shame she had to act like that towards him. I pray that the doctors find out what is really wrong. It must be so hard for you. I hope ylu have a good support team there for you, like church, or neighbors...
WTG on not gaining weight though!

I know I missed everyone else.....sorry. Big huggs to all I missed. Will post again this weekend...if my computer does not act up!;)

Howdy Y'all

I'm going shopping today for a new car!! We have a really nice new Suburban, fully loaded, leather, power everything, but I'm tired of racking up the miles on it just to go to work and back every night. So... I'm off to find something small to just go back and forth to work in. I've owned 2 - 5 speeds in my life, and I'm DYING for another one... so I think I'm going Maxima shopping. Used of course... not too much $$. Wish me luck!!!

Quilter - Yes I have another tattoo... my icon under my user name is a picture of the tattoo I have in the middle of my upper back, right between my shoulder blades. It's a celtic knot. This tattoo is in the ugly wrinkly stage, I can't wait till it's all healed and looks like it did the first day!! Then I can show it off!

OK Ladies... today it's water, water, water and MORE water. I think part of my reason for disaster was that it's about 6 days till TOM comes to visit... so I had the munchies, and I didn't bring anything to curb my sweet tooth that was legal! I CAN FIX THAT! It's not a permanent problem!!! So... now I have a tiny single serving of carbolite bar tucked in my purse for just such that emergency! Other than that... WATER!!!!! I have got to get back on the WATER. I was doing so well with it and all of a sudden it makes me sick to drink it... why the change?

Well I'm off to eat some breakfast :) LEGAL of course! Have a wonderful day everyone!!!

Bye

HiedieHo All!!

Been thinking about that picture, think I will try another size, maybe 8 x 10. Otherwise I will get those frame pieces that you can make any size and put together and have one that will fit.

SHEANN: You really do need prayers. You are going through so much stress. We often forget what a domino effect illness can have on the whole family. As you are finding some members can cope and others can not. At the trauma center I worked at, we treated the whole family. Group homes can have a very positive effect, they remove the person from the stress of trying to meet standards they feel expected to meet by family and friends, whether real or imagined. I hope your son finds what he needs there and gets proper diagnosis and treatment to aid his recovery. We all know I am not an avid exerciser but try to get out of your room, go for walks or something. Exercise can be revitalizing. Solitude is fine at times but it can lead to introspective thinking. You need a little distraction. You are to be commended for not gaining, I would have been eating everything in sight. I hope you ahve some friends you can visit or be with. Also to me my church family is important.

KIMMY: We all need a little break now and then. My problem was I gave myself a break and then could not get back with the program. I stayed OP, just toooooo much of allowable things! But I am back again. We all react differently. So glad you had a good time. You seem to have a good attitude.

BETH: Hope you find the car you want. Suburbans are nice but they do use gas!

DIL and GD come home tomorrow. We had to get the spa motor fixed so DS is getting it back together so DIL can relax when they get in from Ocala. She really likes the tub and uses it almost every night. I use it sometimes in the summer but prefer the pool. In the winter I use it.

Well, want to try that dumb (may be it's me....couldn't be!) picture again. Then I want to find some game pics to put on a poster for Game Night I'm chairman of for the Young At Heart Group at church.

See you!

Shirley

Hi all!

Work has been dragging me down. I'm trying to figure out Access 97 to set up a billing database for our patients. Frankly, I'm surprised that there isn't one in the first place, but somehow in this computer age it's been performed MANUALLY for the last 2 years. Needless to say billing is 2 months behind, and some files were missed - lucky people, no bills for them....until now! Not only that, but the person taking care of the billilng has moved on to another job. Her replacement is not computer savvy, so now it's my job. Wish me luck, I am learning off the cuff.

Well, here's the pooper scoop for me. I've been wanting to get a playmate for Bandit , our queensland heeler/australian cattle dog for a while. We finally did that. And boy do we regret it. She, Pepper, was given to us by a friend who moved away. She's a heeler, except she is so unlike Bandit it's amazing. She is also vicious when agitated (she's already taken a bite out of Bandit's ear), a terror at the vet (they muzzled her with gauze just to do an exam), and tears herself up daily (nose, mouth, paws, legs) by jumping on the chain link fence and racing with the neighbor's 5 dogs up and down the fence. She also jumps up on people. So far, she doesn't respond to positive or negative reinforcement. NOTHING gets through to her, except picking her up off the ground to stop her behavior. On the other hand, she adopted us in a day, and shadows us when we're in the yard. She loves people. She definitely belongs in a one dog household. She doesn't let Bandit drink water when we're there, and won't leave him alone when he goes to pee or poop!! Bandit is trying to protect us from Pepper, and vice versa. Neither of them can establish dominance, and Bandit is ultra-stressed. I don't either of them are going to last long in this situation. I'm feeling guilty about getting rid of her, but the situation can't continue, as they are inflicting damage on each other. All in all, not a good adventure. :(

Debelli - Thanks for the low-fat cheese tips!
To answer your question waaay back when - my DSis was enamored of Mickey Rourke, and heard a call for extras for his upcoming movie. Tucson, unbeknownst to most people, is a regular movie location. Revenge of the Nerds was filmed at the UA campus. Most westerns get filmed at Old Tucson Studios or the surrounding areas. Young Guns, the TV series, was also filmed in Tucson. Anyhoo, DS, wanted to go, and dragged me and DH (then BF) with her. Getting in the spirit of the Motorcycle movie, I donned a leather motorcycle hat (where else was I going to wear it?), a blue guyshirt, and jeans and went with her. They took group shots of the wannabees. Seeing as I was the only one in such a hat, they called me. Silly person called and said "Do you want to be a star?". How lame. Anyway, it was the garb that caught their eye, and they asked if I knew of Melrose Place in LA. I did, although it was more my DS' type of clothing. Unfortunately, DS' who did NOT wear a leather Motorcycle hat was not called to be an extra. So, for minimum wage, I took a couple days off work, and college :s: to do some bar scenes. The funny thing was, I was underage, but I guess in a movie it doesn't matter! It was interesting, and yet also boring as you had to wait around a lot. But you got paid, and you got free lunch. My 5 second claim to fame. :D

BOB - Loved the management lessons!

Well, I must go.

I fell off the wagon! I cannot believe it and I am suffering for it - with a great big headache - It started with 2 Salty Dog Cocktails, then it moved on to Fuzzy Navels made with tequila, then it went to jut your ordinary marguerita - lets see, I tied one on big time! I kept thinking wow I feel good - hahahaha - not this morning - and neither did my co-hort! hahahaha!!!!! So back on the wagon today - and there is no way I can keep up with your posts! Wow!! Hope everyone had a good 4th of July! Today we went to the skate park/dog park - it was just too hot - the dog whined and pulled me back to the car, the kid brought inline skates and the others were all on skateboards - and he was not happy about being the oddman out - so we came home.... going to the movies tonight....

The one thing I am proud of, I have not stopped working out because of the holiday - went to the gym and busted my tush! Felt good, and I am going to go back tomorrow just to ride the bikes.... I am wondering about the pilate classes - has anyone joined those and what do you think about them?

Good Saturday Evening All:wave:

First off, I'm getting this off my chest, though I wish it were my stomach. I confess, I had a melt down just a little bit ago, just HAD to have SSOMETHING, found the ice cream as I was cleaning out the freezer outside (didn't know it was there, hid it and forgot about it), and it became the SOMETHING! I almost polished off a 1/2 gallon of ice cream. Why is it when I do something like this I have no desire to pay homage to the Porcelain Goddess? I just KNEW that I was asking for trouble the minute I laid my eyes on the crap and even though I could hear that little voice in the back of my head saying "don't even go there!" that voice was not in sync with my hands and then the mouth even went with the hands! UGH! I know it's PMS talking that devil talk, but I really thought I was stronger than this. All the exercise this week, to pot! Oh well, guess I can't cry over melted ice cream now, back to the grindstone tomorrow!!!! Okay, now that I've spilled my guts! Doesn't help that I feel like a piece of bloated RK (road kill) TOM is due any time. I don't think I'll be stepping on that scale any time soon - better wait til the 22nd.

Very tired today. Phone rang at 4:30am - didn't have a clue even what time it was because when I got up the tiime on my clock was flashing - electricity went out at some point during the night. It was ELI'S sister calling from Paris trying to get an alternatve phone number for her sisters in Lebanon. She was stuck in Paris and wanted to tell them she was going to be arriving later, so she called moi. Thank goodness it wasn't any other sort of phone call - at that hour, you never know who could be calling!

Needless to say, I'm pooped. I didn't fall right back asleep and in a way, thankfully so. Michael had to be at his friends house no later than 7am and when I saw the electricity out I put on my alarm. Without her calling we would not of woken up in time for me to take him. After I dropped him off I hit the few garage sales I could find, not many due to the ongoing rains we keep having. I found my Mom a bunch of things and a few items of clothing. This one woman had tons of NY&CO clothes, LIZ CLAIBORNE among other brand names, but none were my size (too big). I did get a while cotton house coat from Victoria Secrets and a couple tops for a buck a piece. I found this living air air cleaner as well at what I imagine is a good price considering what I know the company sells their items for. Got Michael 2 new wigs for him to make his videos with (next person to come visit will see what I am talking about). Not much else to talk about, really.

ELI and his DD got on the plane without any trouble as far as I know. I did get a voice e-mail (very cool) from him saying they arrived fine and these plants he packed for his Nephew that I was worried about making it there (9 plants) made it there just fine. I'm sure he's being spoiled rotten by all his sisters now. You couldn't even imagine the food that they prepare there - last time he went and brought back video I was amazed at how the foods on the table were laid out, and the variety of them as well, made me salivate!!!!

While he is away I am trying to attack the house by cleaning it. I'm starting with the family room and going around the room inch by inch until I've made a full circle and cleaned it best I can before moving to another room. It's not an easy job, and I'm not looking forward to doing it at all, but no one else is going to do it. Last time ELI went to Lebanon I really cleaned the entire house, but I had a month to do it, not 2 weeks. I'm trying to "simplify" my life a little better and trying to get rid of things I tend not to use much. Hoping to maybe inspire myself to have a garage sale next weekend to get rid of all the crap I've pulled out from here and there.

Parents left for NC today, should be arriving there tonight and be gone for at least 3 weeks, but possibly more. I may try to take the kids up there after they get out of summer school, but haven't made any decisions yet. Not quite sure if I can handle staying with Mom AND Dad, Mom I know, but haven't spent a night with my father in the same house for over 20 years. Not that he's bad or anything, but the man can snore the house down. It's bad enough with my Mom's snoring, but the two, stereo snoring, not sure if I want to subject myself to that! LOL!!

Hoping to find that modem sometime tomorrow. Will take Lauren shopping tomorrow to see if we can find something for her to wear to school that looks decent on her, so hopefully, in between, I can find this part and install it. Yes, school starts on Monday for the kids:spin:

SHEANN, thanks for the update on your DS. I hope and pray things turn around for him, and you as well. I don't know what to say about the situation other than my thoughts and prayers are with you and I truly hope that things will be okay in the very near future. Remember, if you ever need anyone to talk to, I'm always here to lend an ear:)

BETH, happy car shopping! Let us know what you end up getting!!!

TREE, sorry to hear the new family member is a terror to the household! I wouldn't think of getting rid of her as being something so awful. Find her a good home that has no other dogs and I'm sure she'll fit right on in. I'm sure Bandit is wonderful what the heck you're doing bringing a new dog into his territory and having her bite him and then keep him. Sometimes things just don't work out as well as you intend, even though you had very good intentions. Loved your 5 minutes of fame explanation - who knows, maybe you would of been discovered, one never knows, do they?

BOB, yes, as you probably read, the old fart is long gone. I told him to bring you a bag of that spice. I want one and my Mom wants one as well - you'll love it! Now, let's hope he remembers it!!!

TRANQUIL, you're not alone with falling off the wagon. We can slap each other silly when you come to visit for doing this to ourselves - maybe it will serve as a reminder for both of us NOT to do it again;)

Hello to everyone else. I'm going to go veg out in front of the TV after I do a few more things in the family room. Tonight is what the kids call my WHITE TRASH SHOW (Cops).

Will check in tomorrow!

Not much time for posting now as it has been a busy week. Will catch up tomorrow hopefully.

Well, the Rodeo - Chediski fires are 95% contained in good old Arizona. We have friends who had a cabin (they may not now) in Heber. We stayed there once over New Years - a nice quiet spot in the pines. The white mountains was one of our favorite camping spots, although we usually went to Greer and camped at the campsite. First the fire on Mt. Lemmon in Tucson, now the White Mountains. It's been a dry ol' year. But then again, we haven't had a decent rain in a long time, 2 years of drought! So there were no fireworks in Tucson (actually all of Pima County) for July 4th. Casa Grande held theirs, we're in Pinal County. We could see them from the back yard, but didn't hear them. Sigh....

Sef - loved the poetry contest joke. Wow, a redneck joke that's FOR the redneck.

Debelli - thanks for the sympathy note on the dog who should be named Lonedog. Yes, I'm sure Bandit is calling me every kind of name there is (he has an extensive vocabulary of eyebrow positions, ear positions, and sighs that we could interpret as a blue streak). He's been coping with the b*#$! (well she is one :s: ) for a month now. I feel like we did give her a chance to adjust and make friends. He is such a gentle dog, and is never the instigator. He has been taking a lot of abuse from her. She is also fast, and has no compunction about biting. He does tell her (barks and growls) when she's gone too far, and there have been some skirmishes, but they both end up getting hurt. :(

First I felt guilty that Bandit doesn't get the attention he used to. Hhe used to go to the park everyday and play with all the other dogs. Then we moved, and then moved again. No more doggie park, and with a 3hr commute daily, very little playtime with us. That led to the great idea about getting him a playmate. Now, I feel guilty about jailing him (in the back yard) up with Moe - the inmate with an attitude. I just hope she's adoptable. We're waiting to hear from a cattle dog rescue place called New Hope.

ChrisB - I think the hardest part about beer, is when there are microbreweries close by. There's a place on campus called Gentle Bens that makes a great Oatmeal Stout. I haven't had one of their beers in 8 months. See, I'm looking on the bright side! Anyway, I tend to go off-plan when I go out and socialize. Noted for future reference. Where's that wagon?!

See ya all later!

A quicky to tell y'all that I'm home and just caught up on the posts in between washing clothes and cleaning out youngest's closet. I jumped on the scale when I got home and was pleasantly surprised to see 158 in the middle of the day with all my clothes on! I'm afraid to get on it tomorrow because it's mid-cycle and tho I know I fluctuate as much as 5 pounds, I still don't like seeing those numbers. Oh well. I'll get the pictures of Beth and me tomorrow, I promise.

Good day to all! Thought I would check in as my hair and nails dry before heading to church! I missed yesterday because we had our friends over and the men started building our new front deck. They will finish it next Saturday but it is looking really good.

This is the couple who did all the work for us on our house for free and are great friends. To thank them, we had a lobster dinner last night for them because they love it so much. It was a wonderful time and I managed to pass the garlic bread and Raspberry Cordial although it was tempting. But having just recovered from my vacation, I am determined to stay on the wagon. I had scallops instead of lobster since we ate so much lobster when we were away...I just didn't want anymore. They were exceedingly yummy! I thought of BOB when I was eating them and was relieved that mine were fresh. It would have been a severe disappointment if they had gone bad. In any case, my eating has been great and I have lost 4.5 pounds it seems.

Oddly, I got TOM arriving early again last night. I am talking, it has only been 23 days!!! Who on earth does he think he is showing up so soon?! I turn 34 on Wednesday and think I have entered the peri-menopausal stage. TOM comes at all different times for me now and he stays longer than ever. My mother taught my to look forward to menopause so I am hoping it just hurries up and gets here. I know I am still too young for it but this peri-menopausal thing goes on for a few years from what I read.

SHEANN- I am so very sorry to hear of all the compounded troubles you are going through. I really hope your son does well in the adult foster home. I recall that he is a Pastor or training to be one...I hope there are close church members supporting him at this difficult time as well. My prayers are with you and your son. I agree with whoever it was that posted about becoming too isolated. Make sure you are still going about your business and attending church so you are getting the support you need too! I will pray that the Lord draws even closer to you and that you truly feel His arms holding you as you go through this.

I really must get moving and ready for church. Sorry to not comment to others but have a wonderful day!

MONET WHERE ARE YOU????

Good Sunday Morning Everyone:wave:

Just got in from my walk/jog, and it seems just in time, I hear the thunder out there and it's clouding up. Got in 4.5 miles today:D That gives me 31 miles for the week-I don't know when I last racked up that kind of mileage in one week. It's too bad my eating wasn't perfect this week, with the exercise, I'd surely of been back into my cushion.

The board is slow, which I expected it to be after the holiday. I hope those of you who fell off the wagon get right back into the groove of things. Staying away from the board doesn't help, getting back OP and on the board does. You know you you are;)

I'm going to take Lauren shopping to the mall today, actually, 2 malls, right next to each other. Hope to find her SOMETHING to wear!

Have heard from ELI twice already, very short voice mails that he's able to send me from his nephew's cell phone via the internet (pretty cool). He's doing fine, having fun and right now is at a wedding probably having a grand time!

SERENE, do I have to come up there and seperate the two of you? Cohorts, eh? Hmmmm....Okay, hopefully you've already repented and are back on track, if not, tomorrow's coming, and you better hope I don't!!!!!;)

TREE, I'm sure they'll find a home for the other dog and you'll find Bandit a proper playmate and companion, one that he'll feel right at home with. I'm sure he'll be thrilled when she's gone. He's probably thinking that here he doesn't get as much ime with you, now he still doesn't get much time with you AND has to share you with this nasty doggy that's invading HIS space. He secretly told me he's going to call D.R.S. (HRS for DOGS!) if she's not gone soon - he admits, he wants you all to himself right now and besides he says he can't put up with these PMS furry females;)

JRED, I didn't see you mention UNPACKING ALL YOUR TJ'S GOODIES!! Glad to see you home safe and sound!

GRACIOUS, WOW 4.5lbs? For this week? That's great, whatever the time frame. Your dinner sounded divine, esp. the lobsters, I love Maine lobsters-yum. Weird about your TOM, too young, I think, for that to be happening, peri-men. Same thing happened to me last month, yet I'm pushing 41 in a few months. Your DM taught you to welcome it - ick! I can't say that I'm looking forward to anything but not having to pay for another tampon one day! Nope, I'm not liking the night sweats I've experienced over the last few months, nope :nono: not at all!

Well, I'm outta here, going to go look through the Sunday paper to see if I can find a cheap modem to install. I'm hoping to get this taken care of today so I can have all my info off the other computer to start the new board tomorrow. Lots easier than copying it from the board, but if need be, I'll do it that way.

Will check in later this evening!

Good morning!

I don't know how so many of you do such a good job of keeping up with the posting so often. I will never get caught up but thought I'd try to get in a few before the new board starts tomorrow.

Zanne, thanks for posting the seven step binge recovery plan a few days ago. I'm going to print it and put it on my frig. I sure need it now that I've had a weekend binge also.

I really didn't do that bad with eating wrong food, however, it was the over indulgence of the Tequila at Tranquil's house that got me. Ok, I admit to being the co-hort she mentioned in her post but I'm sure that isn't a surprise to anyone. :o I hardly ever drink except for occasional wine, so this was something unusual for me. We both had a very stressful day on Friday so I guess that was the start of the "BINGE". I normally hit the comfort food when under stress but didn't want that as much as this time. I don't think the margarita binge was a better idea though. I'm
definitely back on both wagons!

Solshine, glad to hear that your puppy situation is OK now. Must be a big relief for you although I'm sure it was difficult to take Neo back, even though you knew it was the best thing to do. We get attached to our animals so quickly. I love the name Vixen. One of my greyhounds should have that name as she is quite a character at times. Can't wait to see pics of the new addition. I've been meaning to ask you what the WDW Half marathon is?

gracious, sounds like you are doing great with the WATP tapes. Wow, you drink as much as 18 glasses of water a day? I am doing good to drink 6-8. I would have to live in the bathroom if I drank that much with my BB bladder.

music, I will keep your Mom in my thoughts and prayers.

Debbie, I've been staying off that scale, especially after the binge this weekend. Don't think I will step on it until WIW. We will have to make that a three way slap when Tranquil and I come to visit. I have repented and am back OP so be gentle with me! Glad to hear that ELI is having a good time. Since I haven't been around the board for very long, I was wondering about his trip. Is this something he does every year to visit family? Hope you get the computer problem solved soon.

Frog, what part of NC do you live? I lived around the Raleigh area for a couple of years and loved it. Have also vacationed in several areas along the Blue Ridge Parkway. I love NC and hope to get back that way for a visit with friends some time in the near future.

Quilter, glad you are feeling better. So, have you found that new range yet? Have you lived in your house for a while and are just redecorating it? You kitchen sounds like it looks great. Can't wait to see some pictures of it. I hope to start redoing everything in my house before the end of the year. I want to do my kitchen in a Coca Cola theme as I am a nut for Coke items. I also try to collect Greyhound items if you can imagine that.

Beth, as you can see, we all seem to fall off the wagon sooner or later. Good for you for climbing right back on! I like the pic of you new tatoo. I've always wanted one but was told it hurts so have never done it. How painful is it really?

cherylco, welcome to the board. I am a pizza lover too and recently found one that is SB legal. It is made by the Boca line of food, such as the soy burgers. I had one for the first time this weekend and thought it was fairly tasty. It might be a good thing to try when you really get to craving pizza and want to stay on plan.

sef, the redneck joke was cute. Sounds like you really stay busy with projects. Do you have any favorite crafts that you do?

tree, what a great relief to you that the fires are under control. My brother lives in Colorado, not from the fires there and it is a relief that those are under control too. We are lucky in having lots of rain now and not a fire problem like we've had in previous years.

j red, glad you had a safe trip home. Looking forward to seeing the pics that you are going to post.

kimmy, I was really moved by the story about your brother. What a tragic loss for you.

BOB, what, no movies this weekend? I depend on you for my movie reviews now! I saw Shallow Hal this week and really enjoyed it. Have you seen that one yet? Also saw MIBII at the theatre last night and it was so funny! So many movies I would like to see but not enough time and money!

Ok, Tranquil, we are back on that wagon again and no jumping off! You have been doing so well with working out and good eating and I am proud of you! Keep it up!

I have to go work for a few hours so I must run! Hello  to everyone I've missed. It wasn't intentional, I'm just out of time.

Take care!

I missed the Friday Funnies but wanted to share this one.

Here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to
know the truth after all those conflicting medical studies.

Diets & Dying

The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans.

The French eat a lot of fat and also suffer fewer heart attacks
than the British or Americans.

The Japanese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart
attacks than the British or Americans.

The Italians drink excessive amounts of red wine and also suffer
fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans.

CONCLUSION:
Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what
kills you.

Serene - I hope your brother was safe from the fires in Colorado. I have a friend who lives there too. The biggest problem with the western states is the dryness. Luckily, Colorado is more temperate than Arizona. I guess it's nice that Arizona has no natural disasters (flood, earthquakes, tornadoes...) but it makes up for it with the heat, and now the drought. Tell your brother to send some rain over to us! :D

Went to MIB II too. I thought there were some cute parts in it, and the special effects were good, but it was definitely a sequel movie, and I'm glad I paid the matinee price!! :)

tree, I feel the same about where I live in N. Florida, as you do about Arizona. Other parts of Fla. haven't been as lucky in the past. We don't have any natural disasters in our area either. The last major hurricane we had was Dora in 1964. We have to contend with the heat also but I've heard it is a different kind than you have. Ours is humid and yours is very dry, correct? Never been out that way myself. Sorry that you are having drought problems though. This is the first year in a while that we haven't. My brother was safe from the fires but had to keep a close eye on the wind and the danger of how quickly the fire could jump.

I always prefer to pay matinee prices at any movie I go to. As cute as I thought MIBII was, I enjoyed watching Shallow Hal even more at home. Guess it was a story that I could relate to a lot more also. Is popcorn or candy a temptation when you you go to a movie? I have to admit to giving into that at times, especially if my popcorn loving co-hort is with me. I need to learn to take my own legal snack when I go to the theatre.

Uh oh, should already be out the door but had to get in one more post.

Take care,
Wendy

DEBELLI-Yes it is 4.5 pounds in one week, actually 6 days! I know it is water though since I am recovering from vacation but I am very pleased with it. I am exercising Mondays to Fridays and take the weekend off like I used to. This system seems to work well with my family life.

About that peri-menopause thing. I have been reading about it lately and it seems that it can start in the mid 30's for some women. I am figuring 34 is pretty much within the range and it certainly seems I have most of the symptoms. My mother was positive about it because it is a fact of life and we all have to go through it. Instead of dreading it and moaning about it like so many women she tried to look at the positives. I know some people will say there are no positives except not having TOM visiting. I guess it all comes down to not making something worse than it actually is in our minds. She breezed through it and I think that her attitude helped a lot. I am hoping I have it as easy as she did! After saying all that, if it isn't peri-menopause, why in the world am I changing so much in length of my cycle and length of TOM's stay? I am also more emotional, have cramping and lower back pain that I never used to have. It is weird. Oh well..enough of my medical mysteries for today! ;)

SERENE- Yes I drink that much a day but I even drink more sometimes. At one point I was drinking 7 litres of water a day (28 glasses) but I found that excessive. I have settled into a range of 4-5 litres (16-20 glasses) and that is comfortable for me. I don't live in the bathroom but when I have to go watch out!

Yes, I am loving those WATP tapes. I am going to do the 3 mile one tomorrow and hope I enjoy it as much as the others.

Off again.....gotta ask one more time...MONET where are you????

Hello everyone!!!!!

I sure have missed you all...but not a day has gone by when I have not thought of all of you! We leave for Wyoming later this week and we just hired a girl from Russia to work with my husband. So my days have been working at his office daily and getting her situated. So much for having my summer off from being a teacher.

I scanned some of the posts...seems like some of you have been working incrediably hard on this weight thing and have been very successful!!!!! I am so proud of all of you! I have held my own this week...no lose, no gain. I have cheated a few times but overall still sticking with the program. I feel really good though! Debelli...thanks for that eggplant recipe...we have eaten it twice now and still have alot of eggplant that needs to be picked! So we will probably have it one more time this week before we leave for vacation.

Hello to all others...welcome to all of the new folks.

I agree with Monet....my beds are made and my sinks are clean even though I have not been around here much!

Have a nice week!!!
