I've had a heart murmur since I was pregnant with Mica, my youngest. I ad my first echo when I was 8 months pregnant down in Vancouver. Recently my doctor wanted me to do a follow and the specialist (cardiologist) was going to be in Whitehorse. So I drove down yesterday and saw her this morning after having an ecg and an echo again. She said it all looked good, one of my ventricals was enlarged but she figured that it was due to me "being bigger than the average person". So she had no concerns and wouldn't need any follow-ups. They also checked my blood pressure and it was 111/59, pretty good no?

I ate pretty good and listend to about 8 of Jillian Michaels' podcasts on the drive, so I'm feeling more than motivated right now! Can't wait to get my eight hours sleep tonight and start afressh tomorrow!

I am really glad you had a good checkup! Heart stuff can be scary.

I have a dumb question, but I have to ask. How do you listen to the podcasts in the car? I am technologically challenged. I'd love to listen to some on my upcoming road trip. Did you use an iPod and a headphone? Thanks :)

Donna,

So glad to hear about the good doctor's appointment. Your blood pressure is not good, it is awesome. Makes all this work worth while doesn't it?

Lyn,
Here is how I listen to podcasts in the car. Someone else may have better instructions.

First, save the podcast on an iPod or MP3 player. The iPod is the easiest because you can subscribe with iTunes and the iPod is made to work with iTunes. However, I have a cheap MP3 player that works well for me but I have to go through a couple of extra steps. I love my MP3 player and listen to audio books and podcasts on the road.

To add the podcast to your MP3 player -

Using Internet Explorer go to the podcast home, for Jillian the only one I know is http://www.kfi640.com/pages/podcasting/ - This lists all the radio station's podcasts, so

*find Jillian's podcast
*right-click on on the "download" link
*select "Save Target as..." from the little pop-up box
*save it to wherever on your PC you want
*Add it to your MP3 player, following instructions that came with the MP3 play. Mine connects through a USB port and I just drag and drop.

BTW - You can listen to the podcasts on your PC from http://www.kfi640.com/pages/podcasting/ also.

Listening through your car radio:

There are several ways depending on your car radio. If you are lucky, your radio may have an input port that you just plug your iPod or MP3 player into. The radio would have to be fairly new to have this.

If you have a cassette player, you can get use a Cassette Adapter like this
http://www.daydeal.com/product.php?productid=12913&cat=3339 - just be sure that it works with your player.

Or you can broadcast it through your radio with Griffin iTrip Auto Universal PLUS or another brand similiar product. http://www.daydeal.com/product.php?productid=15754&cat=3339 (http://www.daydeal.com/product.php?productid=15754&cat=3339) - I got mine at Target for $20 but wanted to show you an example. I use this on trips but it won't work
around Atlanta because I could not find a radio station that was not being used. I imagine this is a problem in many big cities.

Hope this helps.

WOOT, WOOT!

That was all very good news, indeed, Donna --- and you sound like you are going to hit the ground going about 90 miles an hour tomorrow! Any unwanted pounds of fat in your neck of the woods better super-glue themselves down, because Hurricane Donna is heading their way!

Your hard work is definitely paying off! Great job!

Lyn - I have one of those ipod plug-ins. So the little thing goes into the old cigarette lighter in the car and I pop my ipod onto it and it plays through the radio. I love it!

It's funny because I was half way to Whitehorse before I realized I had podcasts waiting to be listened to. She's got me on information overload!

I weighed this morning and I did not do as well as I thought I did. I was swollen last night and bloated, too much salt I guess and once I thought about it, I drank too much pepsi. So I was up 3lbs this morning, so today will be a better day.

I did stay up too late but today I'm feeling really good so far.

Time2lose~

thanks for the detailed instructions! I am so clueless, lol. I will head to Target and get one of those, and steal my son's iPod.

Donna~

thanks for sharing this. I am excited to have something decent to listen to while I drive.

One more Q... if I have these podcasts on the iPod or an MP3 player, I assume I could bring them on an airplane with an earbud and listen to them there as well, yes?

Thanks :)
