YEAH! Huge accomplishment.

I remember when I first started walking 3 miles and I would be looking for the car at the end of it. Now I don't even think about it and I am done when I feel like I barely begun (this has led to some 6 mile loops ;) )

Woo-hoo! Great accomplishment and a real testament to sticking with it and pushing yourself further! :)

That's wonderful! YGG! What an amazing accomplishment! :woohoo: You are an inspiration! You ROCK, sista!

I look forward to being able to walk 4 miles! A week ago, I was only able to walk about 8 minutes without having to sit down due to back pain....thanks to a cortisone shot in my back, I can now walk 20 minutes (a little over a mile) and am looking forward to increasing the distance and time gradually!

Isn't it amazing how our bodies can recover if we just change how we treat ourselves? It's always just so amazing to me. As for walking--I've tried all sorts of exercises to do at home, but nothing beats good, brisk walking for me. Since I've started walking in mid-April, I have lost consistently for 10 weeks out of 11 (and that one gain was .2 pounds).

that's fantastic, congrats!

when I got up into my highest weight, walking felt like such a chore, so I know what it's like to gain that freedom of motion and endurance.

That is flipping amazing! What speed are you going at?

Woot!! The last two months I have been doing 3 miles a day...last week I added one 5-mile leg to one of those days, and did that again yesterday. In the DC heat that's pretty brutal but my body has adjusted and over the weekend I found myself WANTING TO GO WALK even though I didn't have to commute - like, finding an excuse to walk and get some exercise. How wild is that?? I know how you feel CF!

Thanks everyone!

We are able (my friend and I) to do the 4 mile look in *just* over an hour. We're aiming to get it down to under an hour and then add another couple of miles.

That is awesome!

Why do I have this feeling you are gonna end up on the runners thread?

07-09-2009, 12:29 PM
That's awesome! I love walking and going at a brisk pace and just the "I'm healthy" feeling I get from it. I have a feeling we'll be seeing you say "I'm jogging *however many* miles!" Mark my words! You're unstoppable!

We're aiming to get it down to under an hour and then add another couple of miles.

I was just thinking that soon you'll be looking back and thinking how easy 4 miles is compared to the 6,7,8 miles you will be walking! ha!

That is fantastic! I'm thrilled for you. You are an ispiration.
