Age 32 and diabetic
I am 32 and was diagnosed with diabetes. I had a baby a year-and-a-half ago and my blood sugar didn't go down. It is depressing to say the least. With my family history I expected this in my 50's or 60's, but not in my early 30's. Then there is the guilt. Did I bring this upon myself by being overweight? According to Weight Watchers I am 50 pounds overweight. Well, I wasn't always this overweight. In high-school I ran track and was slim. During the years since H.S. the weight has crept up on me gradually. I go through periods where I do well with diet and exercise, but losing weight has never been easy for me. I struggle to stay on track. Now with diabetes I should be more careful than I am. I don't drink sugary pop and eat a lot of sweets, but I don't count carbs either. There is room for improvement, and I think I must be in denial that I am really diabetic. :?
