Well here it is the first day of the month and I thought I would kick it off by saying....happy 4th all!

I am giving myself kudos the entire month of June I exercised 6 days a week every week and lost (for me this is big 5.5lbs). :carrot:

I know we have all struggled to stay focused to eat right and exercise and thankfully when I fall off that wagon of mine, and it has been more times than I can count, we can come here for support and encourgement.

It would be wonderful if we could all committ this month to making just one change and sticking to it for 30 days.

For me it will be to continue my commitment to exercise I want to be able to say and look at my calendar ---Hey you have been working out for x amount of weeks and you are looking good. Time to buy yourself a treat.

I will start a new weigh in thread in the next day or two also

I'm going to commit to start working out at least 3 days a week for at least 30 minutes. I've had a hard time getting back on the exercise wagon and staying there so hopefully putting it down in front of you girls will help me stay on track. :carrot:

Nancy: congrats on finishing June with a 5.5 lb loss!!!!

I am going to commit to honest, written down tracking of foods. I struggle a lot with this, and if I master it I will be so much more successful. So I will track EVERY FOOD, EVERY DAY!

I can't recall if I introduced myself or not - I think I did. In case I didn't - I'm new to WW as of June 1 - doing online Momentum. Love it. Losing wt slowly which is OK - can't tell I'm dieting. I work nights, but am on vaca right now.

I have made a "controversial" decision for July 4. I took this week off because I have a HUGE July 4th series of events every year. Family, BBQ's, parade, brunch, pool party etc. Usually some through the week and most falling on the 4th. The 4th I have parade, brunch, picnic (with funnel cakes, lemonade etc and carnival rides...) BBQ with family, Catered meal with DH's family. Much of this I have little choice in what is served and I look forward to this all year. I am taking the 4th off. I've been good (for real) since starting WW. I'm going to set a goal to eat the best I can, be reasonable and eat what I like. Not planning a pig out - just a day off. A day to enjoy the events, carnival, family and let it go.

Arkansas Kel don't worry to much about 1 day just try to make good choices and move on! after all it is only ONE day

Everyone it looks like we are a commited bunch this month!

I know we can do it! sunshine and good choices.

My 4th will be spend on the beach and casino out here and hope that I can make good food choices that day.

oh hey Arkansas Kel do you live in AR? I use to live there in a town called Greenbrier -- just curious

Arkansas Kel
07-03-2009, 08:31 AM
nancylmm - yep, I live in Northeast Arkansas, and have lived in Southwest Arkansas, but have not heard of Greenbrier.

Tonight is another BBQ - but it's with my BFF and I know she is taking my diet into consideration. Shouldn't be too hard. They're throwing some chicken on the grill for me :) So I have a hamburger alternative. I plan to check in with her - in case I need to bring a salad to keep things leaner.

I probably won't be checking in tomorrow - my 4th is usually a wild mad run between activities - and I love them all. So

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY MY NEW FRIENDS!!!

Hey Guys! I am actually going to switch my weigh in day to Friday. It was my meeting day when I did WW a few years ago and I think it worked well since I end up eating more of my points on the weekends. I am not sure if you are tracking yet Nancy, but I lost 1.8. Have a wonderful Fourth everyone!!!

Ok gals check in time
Chrissy.....exercised yet?
katier.......Food journal accurate?
me....yep exercised I have been doing WATP the 4 and 5 mile ones which give me 50-60 min of cardio and for this entire month I am adding 30 day shred for strength so that adds another 20 min a day (I have to say after 3 days with that one it has been kicking my butt but I am going to get through the 30 days)

It promises to be a wonderful day here I hope you all have a great 4th!

katier
07-03-2009, 11:36 AM
Food journal is accurate! I am very bummed out, I've been doing a running program for three weeks that hasn't impacted weight loss yet, but has impacted body shape change (I can squeeze into a pair of my size 10 jeans!) However, as has happened in the past I my right knee is beginning to hurt and now even walking for exercise hurts :-( So I am even more ready to keep up with the food journal to make up for my lack of exercise.

Good afternoon, Everyone!! I'm in a really good mood today. Not sure why and not sure I really care. Just trying to enjoy it. :)

Katier, congrats on the 1.8 loss and even more so for getting into your size 10's. :carrot: Sorry to hear about your knee though.... I'd be bummed out too. Might not help much but I'm sending you a hug.

Nancy, yes I did exercise yesterday....if I can count the two hours I spent walking back and forth from my old office to my new one. No? fine.... I didn't exercise yesterday. :)

I had planned on it but it seemed like from the moment I got outta bed yesterday my plans went out the window. Nothing I planned for yesterday happened... not my workin out... not my planned meals... not even my move (I was supposed to today and the guys just showed up to move us yesterday). BUT I am meeting one of my friends this afternoon and we're gonna take her kids to the park and walk around the play ground area for an half hour or so while they play. The kids know we're going to the park so I won't be able to get outta that one. :)

I hope that you all have a wonderful holiday weekend!!!

katier sorry about your knees and no weight loss but the size 10 jeans is worth it! :D
I will start the weight in thread Sunday? and will include your 1.8lbs loss and you are running -- sorry to say that is not going to happen for me power walking yes a small amt of easy jogging yes but nothing high impact for more than a few min

Chrissy we have all had days like that! where nothing seems to go right just put a smile on your face and do it again the next day .. whoo hoo

today I worked from home and to be honest did not get a lot done....so what does a bored chick do...lol I worked out and now am taking tylonol since I over did it...20 min of 30day shred then 5 mile fat burn. so 1.5 hours in a row of cardio and strenght....I am also sipping a glass or two of wine and had paper thin, veggie pizza with only a little cheese for my reward.

I will check back in Sunday everyone have a great 4th

nancylmrn
07-05-2009, 11:45 PM
Whoo hoo would you believe I worked out on the 4th? before all the hoopla I did my l1d5 30day shred and 4 mile watp

we went to the ocean it was a bit chilly and always breezy but a nice day over all..food wise was ok not the best

today food was a it better and I have my next few days dinners planned and prepped. Exercise I did the same L1D6..it is getting just a tad easier but at the end of 9 days I will not be ready to go to the next level. Then I did another 4mile with watp..I am going to make these 30 days count :carrot: if I don't you all need to kick my back side please...

Ok check in time! what did you all do the last few days????? are we going to be :) or

Chrissy1175

Nancy, high fives to you. :cp: exercising on a holiday... wow... i'm truly impressed. I'm not sure you'll need us to kick your backside any this month....

my weekend was pretty much like normal. I didn't do anything on the 4th expect housework. Not ideal but it was still nice. It's times like this when I miss having someone else in the house. But, eh, it happens. :)

I was pretty excited though when I got on the scale Saturday morning and saw that I had lost another 3.6 lbs. :carrot: That puts me at 10lbs lost since 6/25. I know these big weekly losses won't last much longer but it's nice for now. And who knows... maybe I'll get one more big loss week. :)

Hope everyone had a good weekend!!

I was not the best behaved on the fourth but I just decided my flex points would be for that day. I am a little mad at myself, I went to a big cookout with some of my college friends and we were behaving as if we were still in college (drinking wayyy more than usual). When I drink I do not make good food choices, but sadly the big food problem that night was peanuts! Someone had a giant bag of peanuts (in shell, thankfully, so it took some work opening them) and I just pigged out, then yesterday had that feeling of "Did I really just use my fourth of july points on peanuts?!" Oh well. I am totally on track again now, and though I try to not weigh myself between weigh in days I did this morning and despite Saturday I am still the same as I was Friday. So balance accomplished for this holiday weekend! I will give myself a :) for the weekend for doing no worse than I planned and then immediately going back to normal on the 5th.

wow chrissy congrats on the loss :carrot: that is just so awesome

katier great job on maintaining over the weekend...and like you when I have alcohol my food choices go right out the window. Like last night LOL too many glasses of wine then went on the prowl for munchies..and poof a bag of cheetos showed up in my hand. But I did not use all my flex points and I do have over 35 activity pts for the week

erinkman1 welcome aboard. Tracking your food is so important and there are tons of ways to do that. Also check out the ww recipes on this site there are some great one. I have tried dozens expecially when I first started ww and wanted to keep foods I always ate and making them a healthier way

Chrissy1175
07-07-2009, 11:25 AM
Kaiter, I think you deserve a :carrot:. I mean after Saturday night you could've convinced yourself the weekend was already blown so you might as well eat what you wanted on Sunday. But ya didn't. You might have fallen off the wagon seat but ya got back on.

erinkman1 - WELCOME!!! And I saw that you've lost 80lbs since you started down your weight loss journey. :carrot: who-rah... that's great!!! And I'm not sure what edoetsch is :D but I'd like to befriend ya!!

Nancy, Nancy, Nancy... lol.... I like how you put that... "and poof a bag of cheetos showed up in my hand" .... I actually pictured in my mind a puff of smoke and a bag of cheetos showing up in your hand.... I think my "poof" food last night was the bowl of jello I consumed all by myself. :) Hey... did I tell you my mother's name is Nancy too? She's the one that put that bowl of jello in front of me last night... what I can't blame her for my eating the whole thing!? MAAANNNN!!! lol

Other than the whole jello thing, I had a pretty good night. Mom and my 2 newphews are in town visiting me so it was nice to have someone to cook for and sit with at the table. After we ate, Mom and I took the boys for a walk around my neighborhood. And you know what I discovered? I live in a really nice, walker friendly neighborhood. I've always driven to the park a few miles away from my house to walk on the path but now I think I'll just start walking around the school & park just 2 blocks from my house. :) Imagine what you notice when you try something new.

chrissy it sounds like you have just found another form of exercise! right in your own back yard so to speak. And to have family visit is the best, I bet you can try out some awesome ww recipes and use them for ginney pigs
LOL I try to do that to my brood at least once a week. have had some good ones and some real bombs

Well tonight I am going to use a different dvd to workout that focuses on tonning with weights...it will last about 75 min and do upper and lower body. I am sure I won't be able to sit tomorrow or raise my arms to eat...hey that might be a good thing?

Check in with all of you later

Chrissy1175
07-08-2009, 12:05 PM
Nancy, I've actually been doing just that. The other night I made chicken enchilladas (sp) for them. They both really liked them. They are both overweight and are used to being about to sit around and eat whatever they want. So it's be interesting to see how they react to eating the way Aunt Chrissy eats instead of mom and dad. Almost everything I eat is fat free so almost everything they've had with me has been fat free. They haven't mentioned being able to tell something's different except for the ff hot dogs we had the other night. And they liked those. Said they were better than what they have at home. I didn't tell them they were fat free. Just said I had to have 'special' hot dogs because I couldn't eat the regular ones. :)

OK... I need ya'll's help. What can I count as exercise? I mean does it have to be a structured activity or it be walking around a museum for 4 hours? Yesterday, we took the boys to the ranching museum, the university museum (similar to a natural history museum) and to the air and war museum. Most of that time was walking slowly from exhibit to exhibit, AND about half the time we were outside in the hot 97degree West Texas sun. FYI... you should always check the daily forcast before going to an outdoor museum. :)

So what do you think? Can I count that as my 30 minutes of exercise for the day?

katier
07-08-2009, 01:00 PM
I would count that as exercise but I usually do not count exercise like that towards activity points. That's just me though. Your nephews are so lucky to have such a fun aunt!

nancylmrn
07-08-2009, 01:03 PM
I use this as my guidline when calculating my ap points

Level of Intensity RPE Physical Cues
Light Easy Does not induce sweating unless it's a hot, humid day. There is no noticeable change in breathing patterns.

Moderate Somewhat hard Will break a sweat after performing the activity for about 10 minutes. Breathing becomes deeper and more frequent. You can carry on a conversation but not sing.

High Hard Will break a sweat after 3-5 minutes. Breathing is deep and rapid. You can only talk in short phrases.

Light Activity Points = Weight X Minutes X .000232
Moderate Activity Points = Weight X Minutes X .000327
Heavy Activity Points = Weight X Minutes X .0008077

I hope this helps you

erinkman1 Glad to have another newbie to hang with. I am using the online journal to track daily - my forums are more like my version of "journaling."

Chrissy1175 - Sounds like fun exercise to me to take someone you enjoy being with to a museum. I would count the points - there is a level of walking for that in the online exercise tracker. I've used it when I went out all day mall shopping. It was workout after I did it long enough!

nancylmm - thanks for the exercise points info. That will come in handy if I do something not on the WW online list. And eventually I will, sometimes I find myself doing odd things!

Well, I am back on track after the 4th. I'd make this a confessional, but I planned to take the day off. Turned into all of the 4th and part of the 5th. Monday I showed a .8 pound gain, but it's already gone. I'm not worried, as things are moving the right way again, and the endulgences I had were worth it. I won't give a list here - it was so good it could cause others to become bingey! Just know it was worth it and I don't harbor an ounce of guilt.

Chrissy1175
07-09-2009, 12:56 AM
Thanks for your thoughts on the walking thing. I appreciate it. I wasn't worried about using the AP points because I don't use them. I was worried about my not feeling like walking last night at the park or on my treadmill after walking all day. Totally a selfish reason, I know but I just couldn't get my bum off the chair last night. :D

Well chickies, another day down. You know I really have to start to change my perception...it should be tomorrow is going to be an awesome day. And plan my day

So.....tomorrow it is english muffin with egg beater and laughing cow cheese, snack radishes, lunch ww chicken stir fry (but I used shrimp), snack celery and ranch dressing, dinner--hmm up in the air right now...snack LOL wine?
activity 1.5 hour dvd upper and lower body the 'firm'

I never thought I would say this---I think I look forward to exercise now---crap--that means I will keep it up and not sabotoge my efforts

Chrissy1175
07-09-2009, 12:04 PM
OMG Nancy... are you reading my mind? lol.... I was just talking to my friend about needing to change negative attitudes to positive. Today IS going to be an awesome day!!

My plan for the day: BF english muffin w/laughing cow cheese (love this stuff) & banana; no mid-morning snack; lunch - chicken salad w/lf wheat crackers; mid-afternoon snack - orange & almonds; dinner - french bread pizza w/salad & fresh mixed berry desert of some kind (any ideas?); evening snack - yogurt w/mixed berries; activity at least 30 minute walk.

Anyone else got a plan for this awesome day?

katier
07-09-2009, 12:16 PM
It is so funny there is all this dicussion about attitude because I just came on to say I am feeling awesome today! I have no clue if any of you live in New England but it has rained for most of the past three weeks, we've had nooo summer weather. Today the sun is shining and it's warm-ish (ok its 65, but that's fine) so I was able to go out and walk three miles! In addition, I did it in 43 minutes which is very good for me, so I feel awesome and actually feel thin today. I've been PERFECT with tracking this week (which never happens) so we'll see if it all pays off when I weigh in tomorrow! So I am sending my positive vibes to everyone, we are amazing, and the fact we check in on this forum shows we are super dedicated :carrot:

nancylmrn
07-09-2009, 03:23 PM
Thanks for the positive vibes katier! everyone can always use them

Last night I did my 60min of cardio with the watp 5 mile burn it really did feel good.... Plans for today besides smile at all those I encounter?

BF english muffin with eggbeater&1 slice candian bacon, S radish with ff ranch, L leftover ww chicken stir fry, S celery? D thinking about some kind of stir fry (stuck on that this week for some reason maybe because I cut up all these veggies on Sunday? and need to use them up?) S not sure yet
exercise my upper and lower body dvd with weights

oh btw katier I don't live in your area I am exactly straigh across and this is the first summer we have had a summer in july...how strange!

Well I did my weight tonight, and for dinner it was a big salad and some corn on the cobb needed to get my veggies in I was lacking today due to poor planning for the afternoon dinner

tomorrow will be better bacause I am going to plan tonight whoo hoo...you know I kinda think it is fun to plan at least the three regular meals the day before or even a few days before. I have made it a habit to keep low point snack stuff at work so that takes care of one problem. But my breakfasts are always the same....any new ideas that are quick and portable?????

07-10-2009, 10:56 AM
Well... ya know it's gonna be a long day when it's only 8:55am and you've already lost your plan. I woke up late this morning and left the house without grabbing anything to eat for BF. :( I'm proud of myself for not stopping at some fast food place to get something when I realized it. However, it's gonna be a long morning.

Wish me luck... that' vending machine down the hall is calling to me.... lol

Hope everyone has a good day!

Just make good choices and it'll work out Chrissy! Thankfully WW is flexible so when plans go awry we don't have to feel like failures.
I just posted my weight on the weigh in thread and I am down 3.2! I think the 100% honest journal really helped. I also had made a goal of drinking at least 80 ounces of water a day in July and I really think that affected my loss too. I am just so happy because when I began I expected to have that initial big loss and never got it, so I will enjoy it now. The next few weeks are going to be very difficult...I have a two night trip to NYC with a friend this week, then next weekend I leave for a ten day family vacation with no internet access for posting and calculating points. I am really hoping to get through the next two and a half weeks without blowing what I've accomplished!

Chrissy1175
07-10-2009, 12:46 PM
Thanks for the encouragment, Katier. I must be feeling your good vibes because my boss just sent me on an errand that allowed me to go to the store and get a better BF choice, yogurt and ww muffins. It was still higher than I'd have like but much better than stopping at McD's and getting a sausage biscuit which is what I REALLY wanted to do. :)

That's one of the things I like about this site and one of the reasons I think I've been able to stay on program this time for more than a few days. The support I have felt here is great. It makes me feel like I'm not going to fail. Thanks for that ya'll. :)

And, Katier, try not to worry too much about the next two and a half weeks. I think sometimes just being aware is good. You might not always be able to eat the best foods but if you're aware you're more likely to choose something better. Besides WW is flexible so when plans go awry we don't have to feel like failures. (And yes I did just throw your words back at ya.) The positive spin is that with you going to NYC you'll probably be doing a LOT of walking, right? So there ya go!!

YUCKY!!! That's what today was. YUCKY!!! lol... It seemed no matter what I put in my month I wasn't satisfied all day. When I ate, I was full but not an hour later I was looking for something else to eat. I even broke down and had a brownie. I'm afraid to journal just how many points I ate today. :(

Thankfully today's over.

Good Morning Everyone!!! Today is going to be a wonderful day!!! I'm off to a good start by having a big fruit salad for BF. Gotta love that!!:cb:

Anyone else notice how we get stuck in our past mindsets? Lately I've been thinking about different foods and how I see them. For example, the fruit salad I made this weekend. Until Friday night whenever I thought of fruit salad I thought of the fruit salad my mother made when we were kids.... apples, oranges, bananas, pecans and a tub of cool whip. It never occured to me that I could make a fruit salad without cool whip. I know, crazy right?

Pasta salad is another one. It never occured to me that you didn't have to use mayo in pasta salad. But now that I have I get to have two of my favorite dishes without the extra fat. And it tastes good.

I wonder what other childhood favorites I can change for the better..... any ideas?

nancylmrn
07-13-2009, 12:05 PM
hey Chirssy I know what you mean about some days no matter what you eat you are not satisfied. Like I was saturday I figured up my points that day...wow

I did have an ah ha moment when it finally occured to me that those processed foods and empty calories made me more hungry and less satisfied and not worth those ton of points

so how do you make pasta salad without mayo? what do you use? I would love a potato salad made without mayo too hmm..you know one of those treat days

nancylmrn
07-14-2009, 12:01 AM
Ok here it is evening time and I am looking at my pts and flex....I have used all my flex for the week and still have another day to go (darn birthday). I know I am going over by 2 tonight but I have earned 32 ap's......keep your fingers crossed for wed weigh in. My menu for tomorrow looks like I should be right on target for points if I stick to the plan

katier
07-14-2009, 12:13 AM
Good luck Nancy! Maybe the change in how many points you take in daily will trigger a loss? I've heard of that happening.
I am off to the land of bagels, amazing Italian food, and those yummy sweet/salty peanuts on street corners...NYC! I WILL have internet access for this two day trip (as opposed to the ten day trip I leave for Saturday) so I may check in tomorrow or Wednesday...just to keep the good week going. I want a good weigh in Friday...I feel like some of last week was the "bloat loss" we all experience at one point or another and I fear I will gain it back.

Chrissy1175
07-14-2009, 11:05 AM
Hope you have a wonderful time in NYC, Katier. I've never been but I hear there is lots of good food. OH, and things to do...lol... You'll have to tell us all about it when ya get back!

Nancy you put me on a mission yesterday. It never occured to me to make a potato salad without the mayo. I bet I search online for a hour, looking at different recipes that were supposed to be low fat or healthy but they all had some amount of mayo in them. My mom said that she didn't think you could take it completely out because it would change the taste of it too much. So I don't think we're gonna find a mayo-less potato salad. :(

I will say though I was surprised at the number of different ways to make potato salad. We've always made it with yellow mustard so it's yellow and has a kick to it. It never occured to me that people would make it any other way. Man, I'm so sheltered. lol

To answer your question about the mayo-less pasta salad, the way I make it depends on what I have on hand. Last time I made it with whole-wheat pasta, 3 kinds of bell pepper, black olives, carrots, red onion, tomatos, and deli ham, real similar to how I make it with mayo. The only difference is that instead of a half cup or so of mayo, I put a half cup or so of fat free Italian or vinegrette dressing. This not only makes it have less fat but it has a lighter taste to it as well. AND if you take it to a pot-luck picnic you don't have to worry about it not being kept cool. ;)

nancylmrn
07-14-2009, 02:45 PM
katier wow NYC! the food alone would spur me on and I know you will eat in moderation? LOL

chrissy thank you for trying to find a no mayo recipe for potato salad, I think I will take your idea for the pasta salad and apply it to potato and add that mustard? maybe some new flavors whoo hoo

well tomorrow is wegh in I will find out if eating more will trigger a loss. I was so tempted to check this morning but I will wait

nancylmrn
07-14-2009, 11:53 PM
ok maybe I am losing my mind :dizzy: my routine is when I get home from work each night I change my clothes and go workout with one of my dvd's. Most nights I am hungry when I get home but I wait to eat. I just fill my water jug and work out for my 60min. But I have noticed lately that even though I could have eatin shoe leather before the workout afterwards I am not as hungrey....what is up with that?

Is my body just playing tricks on me???? Now don't get me wrong I still eat :carrot: and with gusto but maybe it is an appetite supressant?

Nancy, when you make the potato salad let me know how it comes out. My only warning: if you've never put mustard in your potato salad don't put a lot of it in. It makes it really strong tasting. I couldn't eat it the first time I put it in... my ex-husband did but he might have just been trying to please his new wife. LOL...

I've never heard of working out as an appetite supressant but I don't guess it'd be a bad thing. I'm usually starved after I workout!! :)

Yesterday was a weird day for me. Not only did I not journal a thing I ate, I also didn't stick to my plan... AND worst yet, I convinced myself it was ok to go out to eat. :( I'm a bit disappointed in myself but I've not given up hope. It was just one day. I'm back on track today. I've even made plans to meet a friend at the rec center to work out. She's gonna show me how to use the machines. :) Wish me luck!!!

Hope everyone's having a good day!!!

lol.... wow... you know I feel really silly, Nancy... I have a WHOLE shelf of WW cookbooks and not one time since we started this potato salad mission did I even think to open them to see if I could find a recipe. :D I'm thinking I might have a cookout at my house this weekend so I can try one of them.

OK... confession time... I've cooked more in the past month since I've started back on WW then I have since Jan of this year... lol.... that is so bad... no wonder I gained so much weight in so little time. :dizzy:

OK confession night.....
I did not work out and made home made corn tortilla with grilled peppers and onion for dinner...so good total 6pts for the meal. 5 tortilla, less than half a cup of low fat black beans, 5 T of grilled pepper/onion and a squirt of green salsa.. I am so stuffed

so to make it worse I am drinking two glasses of wine

wow congrats fatgirltale! :carrot:

I know it feels so good when I can look at my calendar and say wow I have moved/exercise this many days in a row! Right now I am looking at my calendar for July for the past 17 days I have only NOT worked out 2! and 12 of those were 60 min of cardio each. ~~~~~~~Unfortunatly it does not show on the scale but I can see a difference in the mirror

So tonight after working oiut I came upstairs for some dinner and DH had cut up a giant bowl of watermelon so I ate a big bowl...then had my glasses of wine...oh well some things just are not going to change

Been a wild wild week. Had a surprise job interview (limited time to get myself in for a great job). Went great. Had to go to work (got my butt kicked - made new job idea look great). They called and said I had to come back for second interview so they could get me in under the hiring deadline. Had second interview (after working all night) - this too went great. Told me I was the 1st choice candidate, that they loved me, but there's one interview left. Showed me around and asked me to commit to a start date if possible. Gave them a couple dates. Went back to work - got my butt kicked again. Called to check on job so I could get my notice in at current (crappy nights this week encouraging me) job in time to start the new job. They hired the last candidate they interviewed. WHAT? Ok. Disappointment set in. Real disappointment. I wouldn't have gotten my hopes up, except the "you're 1st" talks from them both. They made it sound like the other interview was just to get it out of the way. I knew better. I knew to hold myself back, but I couldn't. They were so over the top positive about my credentials and experience that I let my guard down.

Moped around house too long, decided I'd better get a nap before tonight since I didn't have any sleep in yet (been up getting butt kicked at night job). Restless nap - am having a weird dizziness when I turn over in bed problem. Am told it could be meniere's disease. Guess what - my mother had this - hers was stress induced. ugh. I'm trying to fix that with a job change that didn't work!!!

Then last night my BFF's DH graduated nursing school. We went out to dinner after. I ate like a piglet. Somehow (I guess cause I didn't have time to eat at work much) I managed to keep within my points using some weekly's. Today I am fatigued. Really fatigued. I could lay back down right now. The only think keeping me awake is that I don't want to sleep all day today. Geez.

 oh Arkansas I know how disapointing that is! But look at it this way, they just don't know what a good thing they missed out on. You will move forward and find something better ~~ I promise it will happen

Well today I have stayed in my points so far but the wine is calling my name. I did work our a long time tonight 1.5 hours ..I did not realize I had gone that long! I was combining some videos and when I compared my start time and what time I quit I was shocked! so the extra wine pts are not even going to make me blink tonight

Tomorrow we are going to go to the zoo I am looking forward to it

Thanks for the support. I took a nap, took it lazy. I guess I needed a good vent and a day to "lick my wounds" for awhile. I will be kicking myself forward in the AM - no point moping endlessly. I have only one more day off and it's back to work. yay (sarcastic). I've started dreading my job. That's not a good thing. Time to change. Will keep my eyes open for another good opportunity.

nancy - 1.5 hrs - I'm jealous. I walked that much the other day. I wanted to talk to my aunt (who walks 9 miles/day) and the best time was during a walk. I didn't do 9 miles, but I did a few with her.

Tomorrow's a new day and I plan to make it count more.

today I really over induldges...lunch out ---french dip sandwitch and 1.5 beers and no exercise! yikkes then had 4 corn tortilla for dinner with a little black beans, onion and pepper...and 3 glasses of wine...well guess that is what the flex pts are for

tomorrow I will work out extra long and eat all my veggies---pinky promise and if I don't please kick my butt :^:

Good Morning, Everyone!!! It's been a few days since I've been able to check in here and you know what? I missed it. I guess I didn't realize just how much I leaned on you all and this site. Thanks for that ya'll.

Ok... let me catch up on what's been going on....FatGirlTale, whoo-rah for you.... riding your bike to work everyday. :carrot: Are you gonna keep doing it? I'm really impressed... not sure I could do it once, much less a whole week.

Sorry to hear you had a bad week, Arkansas. I feel for ya. I had that same week about 2 months ago. Hopefully that just means that the job that is meant for you is even better. Fingers crossed. ;)

Nancy, Did you eat your veggies today and get your workout in? If not, let me know... I'll kick your bum per your request. ... well... first ya gotta kick mine for this past weekend/week. :D

I decided on Friday to make the trip up to see my mom and check out the grad school in my hometown. It was a good trip and I got some information on what I needed to do to get into the grad program I'm looking at. BUT I sure didn't stick to my plan or even come close to it. I'd forgotten how hard it is to stay on your plan when someone else is feeding you. That and my eating out 4 times last week didn't help me and I ended up gaining 2 lbs this week.

Katier, I hope you had a great trip. I now remember why you were worried about your trips. Hope you did better than me. ;)

I'm back home now so I'm back on plan. :broc: Well, mostly. I got in too late last night to go to the store and get fruit so I didn't have any for breakfast but that's easily fixed when I leave the office for lunch. :)

AND I get to come back to the site and lean on my 3fc buddies.

Hi Everyone!
I have not been on in a while but I'm still trucking along here :) Not as fast as I would like but still headed in the right directions. I have been working out every day but my eating habits are sliding back and I need to rein in the fries, pizza, etc.
I had my week off and didn't gain anything but since then I have only lost 1.6 pounds which I think is because I am telling myself a little of this and that is OK. But apprently not, LOL

WB chrissy and chelly

LOL ok chrissy kick my bum!!! I was looking at my journal for this past week and the veggies are down a bit I am getting in at least three servings but not always 5. I am working on it..
Exercise I think is going good except for yesterday but on Saturday I actually over did it

Well today is going pretty good, I did plan my meals on Sunday and did the prep work for my breakfast and lunchs..but as usualy it is the dinners that are a challenge now. It's that ole ..ok I worked out now what do I want for dinner and it being hot out nothing really sounds good that time of night.

I did set out some chicken breasts but how I am going to fix them is a mystery.

I also got the stuff to make the potato salad and will do that one night this week and let you know--the one with the ff sour cream

I also made a great stir fry to bring for lunch this week. and when I counted up the points it is 1 pt per cup --a total of 4 cups brown rice and 11 cups of veggies, I think I calculated that correct. anyway after cooking it all it made 10 cups of stir fry. boy do those veggies ever cook down

will check in later

oh fatgirltale hang in there we have all had days and in my case weeks of meloncally  this is the perfect time to change your outlook...don't look at it as diet (thats a four letter word) think of it as a new lease on life...think were you will be when you turn 90 and are still running!

Well I had a good day yesterday only used 2 flex pts and had 7 ap's. I am looking forward to my wi tomorrow morning...I was so tempted to peek this morning I feel positive I might get a change this time

FatGirlTale, what can we do to help you get your enthusiasm back? I know that I sometimes go through times when my enthusaism falls flat too and it helps to have someone there.... we're here for you.... so what can we do for you?

Welcome back, Chelly, and congrats on your 1.6lb loss for the month. :broc: and for not gaining during your week at home. What kinds of workouts are you doing?

Nancy, how did you end up fixing your chicken yesterday? I'm always on the lookout for a new way to make chicken. It can get old really fast if you only cook it the same ways all the time. I have a new chicken recipe that is not only tasty but also super easy to make. Plus it's made in the slowcooker so you can put in on in the morning before work and dinner's ready when ya get home. :)

Ok... cut up assorted veggies (I use carrots, celery and onions, my friend puts in red potatoes) and put in the bottom of the slow cooker. place the chicken on top of the veggies (I use frozen because it cooks for over 8 hours, but my friend uses thawed because hers cooks for less than 5 hours). add seasonings and herbs to your taste (My friend and I both use salt, black pepper and basil). Then pour enough water over the chicken to cover the veggies but not the chicken. Cover and set on low for 5 to 8 hours. If you're really good at making gravy you might be able to do what my friend does and make a brothy gravey to go over the veggies and chicken. I am not good with gravies so I don't. :)

Well, I guess I've goofed off enough for the morning... I gotta get back to the bills. Have a good day!!

chrissy that sounds good! I have a recipe for a chicken curry in the cockpot that I tried a few weeks ago it was great too.
Ok last night here is what I did for my chicken It was un-fried chicken but had to improvise. let me see if I can remember all the ingreds 3pt per serv

heat oven 375
4 chicken breasts (boneless)
1/4C ff mayo
2t lemon zest
s & p
2T dijon mustard
4 drops hot sauce
crushed corn flakes---did not have any so I put some fiber-one in a blender to make a bread type crumb

mix mayo, lemon, mustard, hot sauce, s&p. together. spray baking sheet with non-stick spray. coat chicken with mayo mix, then dip in cornflakes and put on baking sheet. spray tops of chicken with non-stick spray and bake approx 30 min

ya know it tasted pretty good with the fiber one

ok I can't believe it! I went down 2.5 pounds this week that is huge for me! Now I need to repeat it again LOL

Chrissy1175
07-22-2009, 11:38 AM
Congrats, Nancy!!! 2.5lbs.... that's great!!! :broc:

Your "un-fried" chicken sounds really tasty.... I don't have any corn flakes either so I wonder what it would taste like if I used bran flakes instead.... I might have to try that with tomorrow night's chicken. :) Thanks, Nancy!

OK... so does anyone have a good salmon recipe that's simple enough for someone who's never cooked fish at home? I'm trying to bring new foods into my menu and I really like fish but I've never been brave enough to try it at home. Well... I guess that's not true... I tried to make tilapia (sp) once and it turned out so very VERY bad that I've not tried to make fish again. :)

nancylmrn
07-22-2009, 03:21 PM
Oh chrissy cooking fish can be real easy and I live in salmon country. try this:
take your salmon fillet/steak or however you buy it. put on broilier pan, put a pat or two of butter and sprinkle with lemon pepper you can broil for 10min or bake for 15...it is done when the meat can be flaked with a fork and is not so red. Another way is to mix a bit of brown suger, soy sauce, dill, & fresh lemon juice and put on fish and cook the same way.

I also have some sure fire ways to cook talipia if you want to try it again

And I bet the bran flakes will work great!

Arkansas Kel

Chrissy - my favorite fish recipe (especially salmon) is just a heavy sprinkling of old bay, cover lightly and bake 15 (may vary a little - depends on the fish). The lemon/butter/pepper thing is great too, have done that many times.

Fatgirltale – kudos for the biking. I don’t think I could do it though – 20 miles is a hard sweaty ride! Hang in there – you can keep this up. Look how well you’ve done and be strong until your enthusiasm returns.

I've had a good week. Lost 1.6 lbs - :) All new job ideas are apparently up in the air for now. There's this other nurse, with same education but tons more experience that keeps applying for the same jobs I do, then hemming and hawing (as rumor has it) about acceptint them. If the big dog would get settled I might have more of a chance! I'm told she has declined one that I should be the next best choice for. So maybe it ain't over.

Tonight I'm experiencing the urge to binge - PMS sux. I've tried to eat acceptable - and think I have, but dang I could pack away a bigA cheesy bacon burger right now - with onions, and a giant hot fudge sundae diabetes in a bowl kind of dessert. But, I won't. I told myself if I didn't stop after my baked chips (yes, I counted them out and all that) that I'd whoop out my list of binge busters (things to do instead to keep from eating) and tackle some other things. Looks like I'm outta here to get out my binge busters list afterall. ugh.

nancylmrn
07-23-2009, 11:47 PM
Arkansas Kel we have all experienced the binge bug...it is so hard to get around it but just pat yourself on the back for not giving in! :carrot: As for your career, to bad you are not in my neck of the woods. They are so short of nurses that are recuriting them right out of school as soon as they can pass the board exams and then they can pick and choose there days/hours and usually and very good salary with a bonus just to commit!---hey and great loss for the week

Today was a good day for me..I ate right and did my exercise I even added some ankle weights while I did my 5 mile walk...thought I was going to die but I finished!

tomorrow I am going to do the same 5mile dvd and put the weights on my wrists and see what happens maybe I will alternate them.. was getting bored and needed to try something new and this wa the best I could come up with

nancylmrn
07-24-2009, 11:40 PM
well a great chickie on the exercise thread told me it was not good for me to wear weights doing that kind of walking .very bad for the joints and back so I tried them on my hands tonight and got through 2 miles but some of the arm movements are to fast when I had the weights on...:o So I will try something different tomorrow :carrot:

Had a good day so far and tonight went to papa murphys and bought pizza...how many points would you say this one is....veggie d-lite. 1/2 the sauce, NO cheese, onion, olive, peppers. Then when I got it home I added some garlic and about 3T parm. cheese

Well, the binge bug is still hanging with me. PMS - ugh. It's getting better. However, I learned to not eat nachos and drive! Had a busy night, was driving home eating leftover lunchbox nachos (yes, WW friendly - points had already been counted) when I dumped them in my LAP. Splat, crunch. Ate them anyway.

Career - no progress. I'm still motivated though. My job has worn me to the bone.

nancy - good job on the exercise. Keep it up, with or without the weights. I'm jealous of your dedication. I'm not a consistent exerciser.
Does it seem like we're just talking to each other? Hello, where's everybody at?

nancylmrn
07-25-2009, 11:40 AM
LOL yes at times it does seems like we are talking only to each other; and somethimes I think I am talking to myself. But tis the season of outdoor fun, sun and forget sitting in front of a computer.

My wish is that everyone is outside -moving-

Anyway today may be a challenge, suppose to have a romantic picnic with DH which is great but he wants to do the whole cheese, wine and cracker thing. Points, Points Points. I am racking my brain on how to substitue and most likely will not be exercising tonight to counter balance

Chrissy1175
07-25-2009, 05:13 PM
I'm HERE!!!! Nancy and Arkansas, you are not alone. :) I wish I could say I was MIA because I was outside enjoying the surprisingly nice weather we are having but alas it is not to be. I've been stuck at the computer all day for the past few days at work and when I get home the last thing I wanna do is turn mine on. My boss was gone for a few days so I spent that time with almost nothing to do but then when he gets back I get all this stuff dumped at once. But I'm done and it's the weekend so I'm back... for now at least. :)

And I just remembered that Katier is on a 9-day vacation with the fam so I don't think she'll be back until tomorrow night.... maybe... so we probably won't hear from her until maybe Monday.

Thanks, you guys, for the salmon recipes. I've put salmon officially on my menu for next Saturday so I'll let you know how it goes after I try it. Keep your fingers crossed. ;)

I'm a bit bummed because I gained again this week. Another 1.6 lbs. :( But I suppose that's my punishment for choosing to eat a pizza last night after a crappy day at work instead of the grilled chicken I had planned. It was just so much easier to order a pizza that was delivered to me than to get my fanny off the couch and grill the chicken and make the sides. :)

I've been trying to stay away from too many processed foods this time because I personally feel better if I don't eat them much, but I think I'm gonna have to keep a few frozen dinners just for nights like yesterday. Of course, I'm not sure that would have helped. I could have easily made a pb&j sandwich and with a baggie of veggies I had already cut up but I instead reached for the phone. Oh well... I'm human right? lol

Well, I'd best be off. I've got laundry calling me. :) Hope you all have a good weekend.

Chrissy good to see you back, sorry work was a bummer  I forgot about Katier being gone with family.

Don't let that gain get you down! and be glad you ate that pizza I had mine friday night I just opted to not have the cheese on it and ya know I did not miss it

well we did not do the whole cheese/wine/bread today picnic so I did not have to calculate those points so instead I made cod deep fried in batter LOL:o just as bad but did have healthy veggies go with it. And now I am lookig forward to not one but two lemon martinis

Today another challenge, brother has free tickets to the ball game--of course there will be the tempting hotdogs and beer...I am hoping I can resist but I don't know. So I am filling up on fruit and veggies before we leave. it is an afternoon game and the temp is suppose to be in the 90's

Chrissy1175
07-26-2009, 03:08 PM
Nancy, you had pizza without the cheese? wow... I so don't think I have the will power to do that. I'd much rather go without the pizza than have it without the cheese. That's my favorite part.... ok... the pizza is my favorite part. :)

OOooo... I just remembered something. When I lived up north there was this pizza place that made this crust-less pizza thing. It was surpriseingly good but I cannot remember how it was made. Huh... I guess I'll call my sister who still lives up there and have her go check it out for me. :) Maybe I can make it at home if I knew how it was made.

OK... now you've got me on a pizza kick. I've made pizza at home twice over the past month or so and both times I made it differently than I normally would. But both were still really good.

First time I picked up a day-old loaf of french bread from my local grocery store's bakery and used ff cheese, turkery pepperoni, onions, green peppers, mushrooms, and black olives. For the sauce I picked up a jar of the low sodium pizza sauce. It was really good and when I figured it out it was only 8 points for 1/4 of the loaf.

A few days later I was looking for something easy to make and decided to make the pizza again. Only this time I was out of the french bread so I made it on a whole wheat tortilla. It was good but not as good because it was really rather soft and I like a crispy crust. I wonder though if maybe I put it on my pizza stone in the oven instead of the microwave if it wouldn't crisp up some. What do ya'll think?

Ok... I just realized my post was mostly about food. :) That means I should probably eat something since it is lunch time. Too bad I don't have stuff in the house to make pizza. :D

Hope you all have a good day!

nancylmrn
07-26-2009, 09:47 PM
hey chrissy another way to make a low pts pizza; use one of those low carb flat bread and put it on a cookie sheet and bake it for 5-8 min in the oven (turning once) then top and put back in oven to melt your ff cheese.....I use to do those all the time I don't know why I stopped--silly me!

now I am going to have to go out and get some of the lowcarb/high fiber things (1pt each) and when you figure the sauce 0pt, peppers, onion, tomato 0pts, and then your cheese walaa crispy pizza

Well we ended up not going to the ball game but went to a local pub instead...I was very good, had ice tea and the hummus and pita plate and only ate half. Brought the other half home fo dinner later tonight.

Oh and I spluged on a fitness gift for myself I bought a heart rate monitor that I wear around my chest and it has this watch so I can see if I am getting my heart rate where it should be while I work out and according to the instructions my target zone is between 101-152 and when I did my workout tonight I kept it between 135-150...it was so much fun! As I get fitter i will move my target zones up a bit to push me harder

I just ate a lot of pizza for dinner. It was delicious, but wrong.

I knew tonight wouldn't be good and the more I tried to be good before dinner, the more I ate. I didn't drink anything though - I was probably just dehydrated.

I am going to a wedding next weekend, so it's not like I can make it up! I needed those flex points!

Good morning everyone!!

Although I am down this week.....I had mexican food yesterday (yum) and pizza on Friday (w/cheese)....so I'm sure it will catch up with me in a few days!

Oh well. It's a new day!

I ate ALL of my "weekly points allowance" this week....glad they were there!:^:

Nancy.....went to a pub and had ice tea. I'm impressed. ;) You have more will power than I do! And pizza w/o cheese? I don't think I could do it.....cheese is my favorite!

This is the beginning of my 4th week on ww....my goal this week is to get some exercise! Why is it sooooooo hard to get motivated to get moving?? :?: In my head I know that I will feel so much better if I exercise....but I still can't make myself get up out of bed in the morning to get started! So....that is my goal for this week.....to do some sort of exercise at least 4 times.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Congrats Ragsy on the loss and sticking with ww for the fourth week!

This morning I was rumanging around my bedroom looking for a book to read on the bus and I pulled out my old food journals from last summer when I started with ww. I was looking at what I was eating then vs how I eat now. I must say I eat a lot more healthy now then I did then so if nothing else I have changed my eating habits. I am also more consistant with my exercise

btw ragsy I don't exercise in the am I would have to get up at 3am just to work out and shower before I left the house for work. I work out as soon as I get home from work then cook a lite dinner -- it seems to work for me and I plan on keeping one weekday free of exercise so I can run those after work errands.

I am back again! I have been in and out for the last 2-3 months mainly reading. I have been through a rough patch health wise and have been put on a high dose of prednisone. With the pred I have gained a few pounds and almost back to where I started. So now I am done even with the prednisone I am determined to at least maintain. I am to be on prednisone for at least 5 more months so I am going to have to curb my eating habits and the fact that I never feel full!
Thank you for allowing me to read all of the posts and hopefully I will become more active and either stay the same or lose a few lbs!

Hi Tracy -

Welcome back!

I am kind of new here....but trying to get to know people. So....nice to meet you. Having the support of the people here has been great for me....I am sure that it will be for you too.

Hope that you are feeling better. I have heard that prednisone is tough on weight loss....so don't get discouraged. Hang in there and keep leaning on the support here....everyone is GREAT!

hey gals (and guys too if there's any of you here!)

I'm not sure if you all know me or not (I wrote the "Queen of starting over" post a few posts down).

We were gone from home for 2 months due to work and we are just now back home and getting back into a routine.

In that post I mentioned that we didn't have a scale with us on the trip so I was just guessing what my weight was based on what I was when we left and the food that I had eaten thus far on the trip. So, I was guessing I was around 215 because I was at 212 when we left on our trip. Imagine my surprise when I step on the scale this morning (we've been home 2 days now) and the scale read 209.4!!!!!! :carrot: Is that possible after that much travelling and non-exercise and eating out for 2 months?!?

I am SO excited and this was the boost that I needed to get on track and to get motivated!

We are headed back out of town the first part of September and it's my goal to be back under 200 pounds by then. My reward? A facial/pedicure/manicure.

So excited to be back!

wb Tracy! I know only too well how drugs can play havoc with weight loss and even to maintain! The only suggestion I can offer is what I have had to do my self is to eat more veggies (you should see what I bring to work in gallon ziplock bags) and try to limit your processes foods. It seems to have help me curb my hunger pangs. And the longer I have gone the less likely I am to grab that bread, chip, cracker etc. We are so here for you and hope you post often....good - bad - or ugly

LondonJulz wb too! and that is awesome you had a loss even with your eating out...It sounds like you still made good choices and did not go overboard for any lengh of time.

:dust: for everyone!

I am backkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!

And of off the vacation wagon I have fallen:(

My family and I travelled to Canada for the past ten days. I was worried food wise, but excited because we were going to a shore location (swimming for APs) and near miles and miles of hiking trails, so I figured I would make up for the food. Well...I didn't take into account the 3-4 days of super intense car time at the beginning and end of the trip (lunches from gas stations....so so bad). Thennnn..it rained almost the ENTIRE TIME! And without the outdoors...not much to do. It was a twenty minute drive for a cup of coffee. So I ate so much more than planned from being stuck in the house some days, then when we went stir crazy we'd drive to new areas and eat lunch out etc. I ate poutine twice:( (french fries with gravy).
I have not weighed myself and won't til my weigh in Friday, because why make myself feel bad when it's not a weigh in day. There are bright spots in this mess of WW fail.
1. By the end of the trip I missed normal eating. I felt sluggish from the food but also from the lack of exercise.
2. On Saturday it FINALLY was cloudy with breaks of sun so my dad and I went hiking. It took hours and we figured out at the end it was a six and a half mile hike! I felt so good after I am super excited to return to working out tomorrow.

So there is my sad story, I am hoping for no more than a two pound gain (from my last weigh in weeks ago) when I weigh in Friday. My lapse has sooo made me ready to do things right! Also, great job ladies while I was gone! I've missed the forum!

Carp, I have fallen. I may need a do-over. ugh. PMS came - with unreal appetite attached. Planned to eat my turkey sausage snacks and a string cheese on way home from work with a fast food diet coke. Not been a problem before. Ran to Hardees on way home for diet coke. Hardees doesn't tempt me much. Soda carbonation is out. OK. Drove to McDonalds for diet coke and ordered the steak egg and cheese bagel combo. WTH! Did that come out of my mouth! ok, ok, I'll just eat half, no 3/4th, well might as well finish it. It was greasy, beefy, cheesy, chewy perfection.

I was so good for so long, with only the 4th of July off. Then work hit me. A nurse (with bun in the oven - eating for 2) has been on our floor all weekend. She had chinese, and shared. NOOOOOO. I ate only a bite, then again, then again, then again. Lost track. Nibbled my way right off my diet. Then a piece of cake. Yep, big hunk or flowery frosted with a smile birthday cake - of course with a low cal cup of black coffee.

I can't stop! I really can't. Must find my way back. Just finished a chip and dip binge. I've not been doing that. It's like I went into my working weekend all set, and came out wiping the dribbles off my chin.

I don't know if I can reign myself in tomorrow. Being sent to an all day educational thing for work - which includes meals and treats. CARP. The diet demons are out lately.

I'll check back Wednesday, hopefully with myself back on track. SOMEBODY PULL ME BACK IN!!!!!!!! Throw me a life preserver, at least some arm floaties or a foam noodle!!!!!! mmm noodles.

Hi Katier - welcome back from your travels. I am sure that you did better than you think. Just take this week to drink lots of water and get "back on track".....you'll be fine. And...you got a 6.5 mile hike in! :)

Arkansas Kel......you make me laugh. :D I have been having trouble with wanting to eat everything in site too this week! I think that it is so hard when everyone around you is eating all kinds of stuff...especially at work....and you are there trying to be good with your carrots and celery. Ha! Anyway - I hope today goes ok for you....I'll put some dust up here for both of us! :)

Oh chickies hang in there! You only fell off the wagon a bit and may have to run a bit to catch up and jump back on (hey the exercise is good).

I am sending you all the positive vibes I can!. I have fallen off so many times this past year I sometimes thinks I do it on purpose so I will never reach my goal but I keep on trying anyway.

 I will check in later

Good afternoon, Everyone!!! Let me start off by giving out a Big Ol' Group Hug :grouphug:. Seems like more than one of us could use that.

Nancy, how’s the heart rate monitor working for ya? I’ve thought about getting one myself but couldn’t justify the expense right now. Has it helped with your workouts? I too noticed that my eating habits are different this time around. Last time I ate a lot of frozen dinners and bagged salad. This time I’m actually cooking. :dizzy: Strange, isn't it? How we do things differently sometimes.

FatGirlTale, try not to worry TOO much about over indulging this weekend. Some days we just have that. Did you notice that you were one of 4 admitting to eating pizza this past weekend (Nancy, Ragsy, You and Me). We ALL do it sometimes. ;)

Ragsy, CONGRATS on the loss!!! 3.2lb right? That’s great! Try to do the exercise one day at a time. :coach: I have found, personally, that if I take it one day at a time I’m more likely to keep up with it. Is there anyone you might be able work out with some times? That might help too.

Welcome back, Tracy. You know what this means though, right? You’ve made contact, no more lurking allowed. ;) Sorry to hear about the meds, though. Other than the weight gain, are they making you feel better? Did I understand right that you’ll be able to get off them soon? Hopefully you’ll be able to maintain if not lose a bit by the time you get off and then you can hit the ground running.

LondonJulz, I was wondering where you were. I thought maybe we’d scared ya away. :) Of course if I’d re-read your post I would have remembered that you were still out. Welcome home and way to go on the loss on the road. I think the goal of being under 200 lbs when you leave is a good one. You can do it!!!

Sorry to hear your vacation didn’t go as planned, Katier. But you’re back and I’m glad. We missed you. :D And I’m sure you’ll do better than you think too. I’ll bet that if you look back at what you ate last week and you’ll see you didn’t eat as bad as you might would have if you hadn’t been aware of what you were eating.

ArkansasKel, I must admit your post made me feel bad and good at the same time. I’m sorry that you had a bad weekend at work but it’s so nice to feel like you’re not alone with your temptations. I work with a bunch of men who are ALWAYS bringing junk food into the office and who look at me funny when say “no thanks” to the nice hot donuts and instead eat the banana or apple I brought. Have you tried the No Pudge Brownies? That’s what gets me through my PMS.

I suppose that I should end my post now. Almost time to call it a day and I just realized how long it was. Sorry 'bout that.... seems I was in a "talking mood" today.

I’m sending out my positive vibes today too. Just remember that we only fail when we fall and don’t get back up.

Thank you everyone for your support! I feel it's not going to be a good weigh in Friday (trust my about how my clothes fit right now), but I stayed within points today. It was HARDDD, when you've eaten excessively for ten days, it's hard to do normal points, but I made it. I'll keep it up this week, and just ask for no judgement Friday lol.

I send support to the others who have fallen off the wagon recently, it's hard, but it's life and we will make it through!!!!!! So I am trucking on, I am being proud if myself for my short term accomplishments (...eating well today).

OK Chickies we have picked ourselves up and dusted off the the chocolate dust and are ready to move on!:D

Tomorrow is the middle of the week and the best time in the world to have a do-over. Of course tomorrow is my MOT (moment of truth) the scale but I am ready and braced for what ever it brings (GD there had better be no gain---did I just say that.....wrong attitude) You know it is funny I look forward to weigh in's each week and get so tempted to peek but don't.

I am confident that all of us are not only going to get on track but stay on track

btw what should the title of our Aug thread be???? any suggestions???

OK... Here's my strange thought for today. :D

You know how when you're body is the same shape and size for a while you get used to the way it feels. I mean that bumps and lumps and all that. Yesterday I was sitting in front of my computer and the urge to strech came over me so I did. And for some reason I ran my hands down the sides of my chest. I noticed two bumps that were not there last month. I was stunned and couldn't figure out what it was. It took me close to 2 mintues and some serious thought before I realized that the 2 unknown bumps where the bottom of my rib cage. :o I couldn't believe it. I was so used to not being able to feel them that when I did I didn't know what they were. I've lost enough weight that the fat isn't hiding my rib cage anymore. Well, at least not as much that I can't feel it ;).

AND another good thing about yesterday, my cute guy friend made a comment that he could see I've lost weight. :carrot: Always nice when someone comments on your weight loss.

Nancylmrn - how does the weigh-in thread work? (I know silly question). But I noticed that you track losses for the month and everyone is posting what they lost for the week. Should we re-edit our same post with weekly weigh-ins or post our weekly weigh-ins in a new post? Or do we keep track for the month and give that to you?

As with WW, coming to this board daily is going to have to be a habit I get in to. No doubt that I can do it! I know that when I was active on this board before, checking in every day, it really helped me.

Any of you get the latest issue of WW magazine? I have been making recipes from there left and right and every single one has been DELICIOUS! Made the Broccoli, Cauliflower & Swiss quiche earlier this week (made it a second time yesterday). Made the East Indian BBQ Chicken & Corn bake last night (Oh. My. Word!). And made the cream pops (vanilla pudding, bananas, choc. shavings frozen in popsicle forms). I have 4 older issues of the magazine I'm going thru to pick out recipes that I'd like to make. I'm going to try to get some kind of a binder or something to keep them in like a make-shift recipe book. Any of you have any WW recipes from the magazine that you have tried and loved?

Hope you all have a great day!

ALSO! What day of the week do you weigh-in and why?

Ragsy
07-29-2009, 03:02 PM
Chrissy.....you had me worried there for a second on the bumps.....but made me laugh when I finished reading! How awesome that you are seeing the weight loss and apparently others are noticing too! ;) That must feel great.

LondonJulz-I too love the ww magazine. I have been getting it for a couple of years and I think it's great. I will have to go home and look for some of my favorite recipes to share. :eating2:

Oh - and I don't know about everyone else, but I weigh myself on Monday mornings, first thing. It kind of keeps me "in check" over the weekend. :)

nancylmrn, still thinking on a clever name for the August thread.....:chin:

Have a great rest of the day everyone!

I do the opposite of Ragsy lol. I weigh in on Fridays because I know I will behave worse on weekends. Just the way my life is right now I am more likely to have my higher point, higher sodium, higher alcohol meals on Friday or Saturday nights, so I try to obviously stay with points, but then my weigh in is farthest away from any bloating or water weight from the higher bloat foods I may eat those days.:dizzy:

nancylmrn
07-29-2009, 11:02 PM
Chrissy that is so awesome -- you felt your ribcage! huge milestone :carrot: and to get compliments, don't it make you feel like all this hard work with counting pts, watching your portions and working out is paying off

LondonJulz it is easy to use the weigh in thread just post any changes in your weight in a new post on the thread that way I know I need to go in and make a change on the first entry I check every day, usually twice a day :D Oh and I don't get the ww mag but have read a few at the dr. office and gotton some great stuff from them. I keep a folder in my kitchen with recieps I have collected and about once a week I will thumb through them to see what I would like for the week and if nothing strikes me I pull out my 3 ww cookbooks or go here and look at all the reciepes

Ragsy & Katier I weigh in on Wednesdays becasue I do know the weekend I go a bit overboard so then I give myself M & T to get back on track

Today was weigh in and :( no loss no gain this week so it looks like this was not my month but there is Aug!!!

Well today we still have this heat wave going through so I did not work out. I tried to last night and lasted 30min then got dizzy, kept drinking water but my pulse would not go down then --bam intestinal craps that about incapacitated me.....Lesson No. 1 do not exercise in excessive heat unless you have a/c

I will be back on schedule tomorrow with promises of cooler weather

Chrissy1175

Nancy, I so feel your pain. Unbearable heat was the reason I stopped walking at my favorite park. We've been hot all summer. I think today was the first day in I don't know how long we didn't get up in the mid 90's and I think that's because we had huge storms last night. ;) Hopefully the temps will start going down soon for ya and you can start working out again without fear of getting sick.

Ughhhhhh up 3.2 in my first weigh in since the two weeks of travel. I expected it because I ate so many bad foods, but I still am frustrated. I look at my total weight loss for June and July and it's only four pounds. I think I am realizing when I did WW the first time 2.5 years ago I didn't follow it to a T and still lost weight. I guess it's the difference in metabolism from age 22 to age 24, but I really need to buckle down. Last time I never counted veggies or dairy or any of that AND I used to weigh in Fridays after going out every Thursday night and I STILL would lose. So having my moment of self pity, then looking ahead to August.

Well after posting last night I ate 4 big slices of pizza and ate 3 slices of cheddar cheese there went my flex for the week and I still have 5 more days to go. But tonight exercise yeah!
